A.L. TORISAKIA - INAUGURAL SEASON

A new and fresh domestic league has been established within Torisakia! The Andreliga Torisakia, literally Second League Torisakia, was formed just after the Torisakia Soccer League 2014 season ended and during the WC68 cycle. Before, there were only two football leagues in Torisakia: the Torisakia Soccer League and the Torisakia Minor Soccer League. Although both grossed well over $55 million Torisakian Dollars, a demand for a smaller league was made by fans of smaller teams who were unable to achieve membership into either leagues. With enough support and some money left over from the two leagues, the A.L. Torisakia was formed, adding in twelve teams and infinitely expanding. Adopting the classic scheduling from it's sister leagues, the A.L. Torisakia will consist of 22 matchdays with each team playing each other twice (once home and once away) with the best a club can do is 22-0. The elimination stages are different from their sister leagues, as there are currently not enough teams to support conferences like the TSL and TMSL do. The top eight teams will advance into the elimination stage, and enter the Round of 8. The remaining 4 teams will play in a best-of-3, and the winner will move on into the A.L. Torisakia championship. A.L. Torisakia will play a season at the beginning and end of every WC cycle. Therefore, their inaugural season starts before the WC69 and second season will start at the end. These season will be named according to the occurring WC and which part of the cycle the season is being played in, for instance for the beginning of World Cup 69 the season would be named WC69b, and the end would be WC69e.

Vyktory National Football League

Vyktory's national football league consists of four divisions, the Premier League, and the First, Second and Third Divisions, all consisting of eight teams each. The leagues all have only one promotion and relegation spot each, except for the Premier League which has no promotion, and the Third Division, which has no relegation to the amateur leagues below. All the teams in the league are professional, some stronger than others. The Third Division is used as a base to measure the other leagues in power, with it having one base unit, the Second Division having two, the First having three and the Premier League having four base league units. This feeds into the coefficient system that compares Vyktory's teams, named the VyktoryClub system. It uses a simple, open source formula to calculate the coefficients. The eight teams play a quadruple round-robin to decide the positions for their teams. The top team in the Premier League will play in the UICA Champions Cup, while 2nd-3rd will play in the UICA Globe Cup. The top two will also play in the Campionato Esportiva di Campeones. In the First Division, the top four will play in the UICA Series B Champions Cup. The cup winner will play in the Cygnus Cup and the Globe Cup, however, if the team has already qualified for the Globe Cup or Champions Cup, the spot will go to the runner up, Failing that, it will go to fourth place in the Premier League.. The league tables are sorted on Points, then Matches between teams, then Goals for, which is an unorthodox system, that may well change next season.

Surprisingly, Vyktory City Wanderers, from the capital, have been relegated. AFC Kingston was saved, but only just. Rockton United and Hilldale FC finished in sixth and fifth respecively, while Lionsgate City finished top, edging out City of Astra FC to the only Champions Cup spot, City of Astra will instead play in the Globe Cup. Both will play in the CEdC. Vyktory City Rovers make the Globe Cup while Jamestown United misses out.

Lionsgate Stadium was created by the same team that built Vyktory Arena for Lionsgate City, it is quite visually similar, but smaller as a result of Lionsgate being smaller than Vyktory City. The wonderpitch of Vyktory Arena was attempted to be replicated, only for it to partially succeed, it doesn't rip up as much as a regular stadium, but it's not as effective as the Arena. The facilities lack the opulence of 5-star restaurants, but it still has many good food outlets, mostly appealing to the middle-class, as Lionsgate is a poorer place than opulent Vyktory City.

Stade St-Pierre is another of the main stadiums in Sicoutimont. Built in 1937, it was a major public gathering place during the Communist regime (1955-2004). At that time, amateur clubs like Red Star Lac-Drouin were formed, and toured the country. At the end of the Communist era in 2004, the de-communism of Sicoutimont's new government led to many things being changed to new names. Stade St-Pierre, called Worker's International Stadium during the Communist era, became known once again as Stade St-Pierre, and Red Star Lac-Drouin became Lac-Drouin St-Pierre. Ever since then, the stadium has continued to be a gathering place in Sicoutimont, with World Cup Qualifying matches held here along with all home games of Lac-Drouin St-Pierre. After a failed bid last year for the Copa Rushmori de Campeones, Lac-Drouin Sports and Entertainment, the owners of this stadium and the club, have decided to make a run for the Globe Cup in Lac-Drouin, and know that the first UICA competition final held in Sicoutimont will be a success.

Champions’ Cup: Arena Kirola (formerly known as The 66 Stadium), Cathair, Audioslavia. Capacity: 85,500
The Kirola Arena became the home ground of the Audioslavia national team before World Cup 66, and hosted most of Audioslavia's games during the tournament, including the famous semi-final loss to Polar Islandstates. Two years later, the stadium would host the final of AOCAF Cup 42, before 1830 Cathair moved into the venue in time for the first season of the LigAnaia.

One could call the Kirola Arena 'modern', but as the word tends to imply abstract minimalism and modest use of space, the word isn't quite the right one to use. The arena features a large shopping complex, complete with cinema, an array of chain cafes and restaurants, three gyms, a swimming pool and even a sauna. The conference rooms are numerous, large and lavish, and the media centre for visiting journalists and television crews is arguably one of the biggest and hi-tech in the world.

As for the football part of the stadium, one could be forgiven for thinking it was an afterthought, squeezed in at the last minute between the vast media complex and larger of two fast food restaurants. In truth, the narrow, long pitch is perfectly suited to the cautious, defensive, kontrapuntzeka brand of football played by the Audioslavian national team and adopted by club tenants 1830 Cathair. Showing off their incredibly minor league's results for the nineteenth time, its the Twin-Emirate of Ares-y-Penthesilea's very own Emirate League. The land of endless universities, students and, well, older students, isn't exactly known for sporting prowess. But they give it a good go, bless them. This season, The Eternals are on top after coming second to an inspired University AL performance last season. University, for their part, finish seventh, meaning their last three results read "eight, first, seventh". Bless. Palace of Knowledge miss out on inter-regional competition on goal difference.

Minister of Culture Derrien Bon-Anfant, upon taking his post, had a idea bordering on bizarre: Bringing football back to Oberour Ar Moro. And at a wide, national scale

Oberour Ar Moro had, of course, had reached out of their borders and participated in the 36th Baptism of Fire, and qualifications for the 49th Nationstates World Cup. Leadership of the time had decided shortly before World Cup 50 qualifying that the whole thing was more of a bother than they needed, so shortly after qualifications, in which a disinterested government gave zero support to a underhanded roster, the national team was shelved and Oberour Ar Moro retreated within their borders again.

The people of Oberour Ar Moro, however, were still inspired by the game. For decades afterwards, you could find children, young men, young women, tens of thousands playing pick-up games and creating very small organizations to play the game on their own.

Like their national team of the past, the game was played with reckless abandon. Offense and goal scoring were emphasized above all, defense often was played as an afterthought at best. This might have reflected the national character: reckless, attacking, low in sportsmanship, and nothing is greater than a definitive, crushing victory.

Minister Bon-Afant decided that if Oberour Ar Moro re-authorized football, and focused on the game at the national level, it would help tie the people of Oberour Ar Moro to the regime. Plus, he figured out a way to make everyone argenteus.

His idea, as presented, was called the Football System. Four divisions of national football, with promotion and regulation. Major Oberour corporations, all with ties to the regime, would own the teams. Stadiums would be built by construction firms. Tickets and merchandise would be sold to the people on the street. Done carefully, it could be highly profitable.

After much debate and argument, the Football System won the day. Effective 1570, Oberour Ar Moro would have a domestic football league.

Teams had to be created. The Ministry of Culture lobbyied Oberour corporations to invest. 37 companies agreed, and as a show of faith, the capital city of Oberour Ar Moro and the Ministry of Culture both decided to take part.

Stadiums must be built. Ignoring almost all of the few safety regulations the regime had, 39 stadiums were built or refurbished.

Managers and coaches must be found. A coaches academy was hastily created to develop potential candidates.

Players must be also be found. Small time players, military members, and nearly anyone who could pass a basic fitness test was drafted into a immersive training program.

Once all the players and coaches were as close to being ready as could be done with the limited time frame, a very confusing hiring period began.

Somehow, someway, by the scheduled first matchday of the Oberour Ar Moro Football System, everything was in place. Nobody had a clue how it would go, but that was just part of the excitement.

It's official, Grimmly will begin its long trek toward relevance on the international level with its first season of its professional soccer league!

The Grimmly National Soccer League.

This is Grimmly's first professional sports league and will maintain its only league until further notice due to the high cost of the sports complexes and massive stadiums that have stretched the ever tightening budgets of the cities included in the league. With 12 different cities electing to field a team the difference between each cities dedication to the future investment is varied with some cities like Port Royal and Davis spending billions for state of the art stadiums and club complexes while Twinsburg and Phillipsburg are hesitant to pour hard earned tax dollars into a league with no proven track record. This season will truly be a test for all involved and will no doubt leave this nation with a taste for soccer and if embraced a source of pride throughout the nation.

With a shortened first season, 22 games per team with each team playing every other team twice should lead to thrilling in season rivalries and an exciting 4 team playoff will decide the eventual champion. Players aged 17 and up are eligible to be signed.

Now for the season preview!

While it is hard to say exactly which teams will be best suited to succeed in this league with no history one thing is for sure. The teams willing to adapt and any coach who is willing to make substitutions fearlessly will prevail in this league undoubatly. That's exactly why most experts are projecting the Parma Sonics to come away as this inaugural seasons winners. They are not the unanimous favorites however as the Phillipsburg Miners and the Davis Ducks both received first place votes as well. The team receiving the least amount of votes however was unanimously the Grayhawk Reapers. It remains to be seen whether or not the cities embracing their teams will improve their teams chances compared to the cities who are reluctant to get behind their squad.

The favorites for the golden boot goes as following in our preseason poll:
1) Herman Calhoun (Parma Sonics) Being the highest paid player in the league comes with certain expectations, anything less than a top flight performance by him and fans will surely be wary of his cost.
2) Dustin Herrera (Phillipsburg Miners) This experienced striker will be using his extensive knowledge of the game and using his time spent across numerous foreign clubs leagues to his advantage and looks to have a great season.
3-5) Guy Blair, Adrian Cherry, Greg Gilbert (Davis Ducks) With Davis spending so much to keep this young trio together from their youth club championship team they are expected to take the league by storm this year and show that age isn't the most important thing in a striker, scoring goals is.

With the expectation of drama high this season, the nation waits to see just what kind of league this will become and if the risk was in fact worth the reward of having a national league to bring pride to this small nation.

Introduction
Isula ĝe Ru is a nation of fans of two things: scholarly wit and action. Football, with extraordinary tactics and thought, as well as the obvious excitement, seems to be the best manner in which the Isulans can express their interests. As such, the Isulan Football Association has organized a nationwide football festival of sorts, between the nation's thirty-six best clubs. The word festival is, perhaps, incorrect, for this is very much a league of a highly competitive nature, although split into three distinct parts. Of these three parts, two are what would be considered the "regular season", and one the "cup". The season begins with Phase One, the Island Championships, where the thirty-six teams are split into three parallel leagues based on geographic area, with twelve to a league: The Liga Oria, The Liga Ocĉia, and The Liga Aura. Each of the twelve teams plays each of their opponents home and away, for a twenty-two game championship. At the end of the season, the team atop the table is crowned Island Champion. After a short break, Phase Two commences. The top four teams in each league move on to play in the National Championship, the highest level of Isulan football. The middle four teams compete in Division I, and the bottom four teams from each Island League compete in Division II. The team atop the National Championship once all teams have played each other twice is declared National Champion. Phase Two also sees the beginning of the Mist Cup, a knockout-style tournament among all thirty-six Isulan teams.

International Qualification
Qualification to the Champion's Cup and Globe Cup is taken from the National Championship, while qualification to the SBCC is taken from Division I. Division II is not open to International Qualification.

Maria CF can perhaps now silence all doubt. Added to their glittering trophy case, already holding two National Trophies and a Mist Cup, is the Orian title. They take it in style, battling with Isula Are Esĉer all the way to a record-breaking fifty-one point season. Right behind them are Isula Are Esĉer, who fought to the teeth for a third straight title, and nearly had a chance to obtain it on the final day. Maria had lost 1-0 to Orie Ĉea, and an Esĉer victory would have tied the two teams on points. Aĝi Ĉeasa, however, ended these hopes as they delivered a 3-1 defeat to Esĉer. Esĉelha Siripta Saiude takes a distant third place, but keeps the "big three" of Orian football in the top third of the table. Orie Ĉea, who went to the National Championship in Season I, then the second division in Season II, return to the National Championship as they take fourth place. The defending fourth place finishers, Aĝi Ĉeasa, can't hold on to the position, and will go to Division I. Club Cæa and Coru Coru, two teams which are generally quite good, join A Mara in the First Division. Ĉirquidu keeps up mid-table stability, taking the top spot in Division II, joined by Aguila, Suberfiĝe, and, of course, CF Calhu at the bottom.

The Liga Ocĉia is perhaps the most volatile of the leagues, with no team able to establish a clear foothold on the table. However, Isula Esiru seems to be emerging as an Ocĉian dynasty, and, after two second-place finishes, they are able to claim the title for the first time. This they do by only a single point over unlikely contenders Vilha, who rise out of nowhere to the second-place spot. Club ĝ'Ocĉiu returns, after a season-long absence, to the National Championship, and Ĝa CF, who always put a in a strong showing in Phase II, barely squeak by on goal differential over steadily rising Maĉia. Notably absent from the top four is Ocĉia's biggest club, Olympi. The title contenders are in eighth place and the First Division, albeit only 9 points out of the top. Cruĝ Alba and CF Saidu, the only two teams besides Esiru to have won a Island title, are along with Olympi in the First Division. Occasus, ARMA, Ĉebesta, and Club ĝe Mara round out a stagnant bottom third.

The Auran league has always been the hardest-fought League, and the one that is always changing. This season, of all teams, Ĉeĉali takes their first title, despite tying with Scholar's Tower on points. Isula ĝe Ru will once again make an appearance in the National Championship, taking third place by two points, and will be joined by an oft-underestimated Cæa ĝe Naĝu team. Arĝa CF, who have always been contenders, see their ticket to the National Championship snatched away, and must compete in the First Division with Ulmea Erea, Ĉebu Esiru, and Ulĉu. Defending champions CF Solcalhu plunge in the tables, finishing a dissapointing tenth, and left in the second division with Laĝerna, a now-floundering Gutlé, and Solá.

The Second Division, for the small number of people who follow it, had an engaging season this year. Ĉirquidu finally took the title over Occasus thanks to an eight-draw, two-loss season. The Wooden Spoon found a new recipient in Suberfiĝe, a club who not many expected a sudden plunge from. Defending Liga Aura champions CF Solcalhu had no chance, coming in fifth behind Laĝerna and Aguila, two clubs who are looking to, along with Ĉirquidu and Occasus, begin a rise in the ranks.

There are few surprises here, excepting Olympi's dreadful plunge. They fall to seventh place, with no international participation to console their abysmal season. CF Saidu engages in a strapping battle for the title with Aĝi Ĉeasa, a battle they eventually win by a point. Cruĝ Alba and Arĝa CF are in another battle for third and fourth, and they both go through to the SBCC. Coru Coru, so good in the cup last season, fall to ninth in the second division.

Matchday Twenty-two. The final day of Isulan regular season football, and the top of the table has never been tighter. Isula Esiru and Maria CF are tied on points with 40 each, and Isula Are Esĉer is three behind. With ninety minutes of football left, the title is within reach of three teams. For Maria to take a third straight title, they need to defeat Esĉelha Siripta Saiude, and have Esiru lose or draw to Orie Ĉea. Esiru is in the same position, only with the bonus of goal differential. Isula Are Esĉer needs both Maria and Esiru to lose, and a blowout victory.
In the end, however, once word had come to Isula Esiru of Maria's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Esĉelha Siripta Saiude, champagne could be popped thanks to goal differential. Esiru, however, finished the seaosn on a high note with a 2-0 victory over Orie Ĉea, taking the title and the Major Double, winning their Island League and the National Championship in the same season. Isula Are Esĉer's fleeting hopes were dashed as they lost 2-1 to Isula ĝe Ru, a victory which allowed the volatile club to reach the Globe Cup over Cæa ĝe Naĝu. Esĉelha Siripta Saiude is in a dissapointing sixth, but even more dissapointed is Scholar's Tower. Club ĝ'Ocĉiu's rebound from the Second Division is satisfactory, coming in a respectable eighth. Auran champions Ĉeĉali CĝF can't keep up their surprising form, and neither can surprises Orie Ĉea. Ĝa CF, normally title contenders, fall into a massively dissapointing eleventh, barely above bottom-dwellers Vilha.

The Mist Cup is the knockout tournament of Isula ĝe Ru. To begin, the teams are split into twelve groups of three, where they play each opponent home and away, four games over six matchdays. The group winners qualify directly to the Round of Sixteen, while the twelve second-place teams enter qualification rounds. The top four second-place teams receive byes to the second qualification round, while the eight worst play in the first qualification round. All ties from the first qualification round to the final are a single leg at a neutral site.

While Maria CF can't completely redeem their loss of the National Championship to Isula Esiru, they can take some of the sting from the blow by eliminating the challengers (who, keep in mind, had to defeat Isula Are Esĉer just to get here, and they needed a win against Olympi) in the Round of 16. Top seed from the group stage Club Cæa takes penalties, but still triumphs over Ĉebu Esiru, while Cæa ĝe Naĝu prepares to challenge them after a 1-0 win over A Mara. Auran champions Ĉeĉali CĝF go through to a quarterfinal with Esĉelha Siripta Saiude after they win 2-1 over ARMA and Esĉelha beats Ĉirquidu 1-0. Maria will have a quarterfinal with CF Saidu, who delivered a 3-1 pounding of Maĉia, and, in what will surely be an excellent match, the final quarterfinal is between Ĝa CF, who upset Cruĝ Alba 1-0, and Arĝa CF, who stampeded O Ulĉu 4-1.

Club Cæa continues a run of victories on penalties, as, after tying with Cæa ĝe Naĝu 1-1 and then scoring a goal apiece during extra time, it comes down to a single kick to decide the quarterfinal. Cæa can try to continue this form in a semifinal against Esĉelha Siripta Saiude, consistently an excellent team. Maria CF is in their third straight semifinal after a surprisingly difficult 1-0 win over CF Saidu. They'll face Ĝa CF, who are hungry for glory after coming in a dissapointing 11th in the National Championship.

Maria will not go to a third straight Mist Cup final! They've been edged out by Ĝa CF in a thrilling tactical battle. Ĝa CF too can score a major victory with a win here.

Shocker! 95X Eastern Soccer League Folds; Gateway Re-Joins Soccer League X; Gilcrest and Millennium City Follow!
Following the demise of its parent organization, the Gateway Gatekeepers, Gilcrest Field Falcons, and Millennium City Eagles, have been accepted to join Soccer League X for the upcoming season. Accommodating the additional teams will likely involve extending the regular season schedule.
Gateway rejoins the league it left years ago. Gilcrest, one of the charter Eastern Soccer League teams, and Millennium City, an expansion club of the former Eastern Soccer League, will play its first SLX season.
The 95X Eastern Soccer League formed years ago by the Gateway Gatekeepers to fight high travel costs associated with away games. Considered a laughingstock of a professional sports league, many clubs played to scoreless ties over entire seasons.
"With several teams moving from Cascade Island to the mainland, and western mainland teams moving to traditional population centers, it makes sense to make professional soccer whole across 95X again," current Gateway Gatekeepers Owner and General Manager Patricia Meyers said. "We're pleased to re-establish old rivalries and welcome new ones."
Millennium City, a working-class city with one of the only other successful Eastern Soccer League clubs, relishes the thought of big-name players from Soccer League X passing through.
"The first several calls of the morning were all asking when SC Oceanside was coming to town," an Eagles official said, who spoke to the press anonymously as they were not authorized to speak on the matter.
Gilcrest, consistently ranked as one of the "worst" cities in 95X, cites its soccer team as one of the few things that holds the city together. Officials there could not be reached for comment by press time.
When Soccer League X formed in 95X Year 43, teams were placed primarily on Cascade Island and the western beachfront mainland to keep travel costs down. Gateway was one of only two other megacities (Pacific City and University City) awarded a franchise. Since then, Ashton moved to Brooklyn (just outside Pacific City), North River to Royal Plain, and more notably Pacific Beach to Tornoto.
"The league already touches the coast in all four directions," SLX President Freddy Harrison noted. "We're pleased to end our organizational standoff with Gateway and welcome them back to the league (SLX) as a full member, as well as welcoming Gilcrest and Millennium City for their first (SLX) season."
Soccer League X officials are rewriting the season to reflect a 19-team league. Said officials declined to comment on the length of the upcoming season, citing nondisclosure clauses from both the League and stadium managers. Calls to stadium managers in Cascadia, Pacific City, and University City, all declined to comment, directing reporters to the League.
On XBN's Sportsweek, Agent Jason NinetyFiveX, whose clients include a who's-who of the league, suggested the schedule will expand.
"Most definitely," he spoke of the topic. "Just because a team plays thirty competitive games per year doesn't mean they're only hitting the field that often. There's training, practice, scrimmage matches, the UICA if your team qualifies, it's most definitely a year-round every day job."
Mr. NinetyFiveX also provided some insight from the player's perspective.
"They're excited," he said. "Any time you have the ability to showcase your talents to an expanded audience, it's another chance to make everyday history."
When asked about generally outspoken superstar Xi Foureleven's take, Mr. NinetyFiveX originally stated "she's thrilled!"
"Oh, come on," host Vince Tolliver prodded, "tell us what she really said!"
"A single four-letter word roughly meaning 'contact'," was his reply.
The network went to break immediately thereafter.

SC Oceanside To Play Entire Season On the Road
While Oceanside Stadium is closed for renovation and expansion, SC Oceanside confirmed it has reached a definitive agreement with the City of Cascadia.
"We received a second excellent bid from the City of North River," a team official said, "however it was clear Cascadia had a better offer."
SC Oceanside "home" games will likely take place at 18th Avenue Stadium, a 23,000-seat canopied facility nearly as old as the city itself. Currently used mainly for outdoor concerts and events, it was the main stadium in Oceanside before the Cascade Dome was opened.
"It's in excellent condition," the official said. "And with excellent connections to everywhere, we're able to make the several hour ride enjoyable."
The team announced tickets to games purchased by fans include discounts for both intercity bus and rail providers to and from Oceanside. Season ticket holders will have access to a special "fan train" charter starting in Oceanside and arriving at a station near the stadium.
North River, which lost its SLX team when it moved to Royal Plain for the start of Season 15, offered up its 8,000 seat stadium to hold SC Oceanside games for the year. But SC Oceanside stated the stadium and team facilities would need upgrades North River would have needed to foot the bill for.
An upgraded Oceanside Stadium, already being dubbed "the house Xi Foureleven built," is hoped to be ready in time for Season 17.

Soccer League X Inks New TV Deal with XBN
After several seasons on the 95X Network Five, Soccer League X signed a television deal with XBN that will improve both the quantity and quality of nationally-televised games. The deal calls for up to three games per week, as well as every playoff game, to play to a national audience. Unlike the previous deal with Five, this deal also includes domestically broadcasting UICA matches involving teams from 95X, pending any requirements needed by the UICA.
Broadcasts on Five quickly became known for their low quality and uplink issues, where some network stations lacked access to "national" games.

The most recent edition of the NAFL saw Newfield FC win their 3rd consecutive championship, albeit by a hair's breadth. They will be the Nova Anglican representatives in the Champions' Cup, the NAFL's first foray into international competition. Bridgewall, Portus, and Castellum join the Globe Cup, while Archbishop FC, who hadn't finished lower than 3rd in previous years, fell back to sixth place, more from dropping points in draws than being outplayed in losses. Meanwhile, Lumberjacks FC, who had finished a surprising sixth last season, completely fell off the map, winning just one game and finishing with a dismal 12 points to be relegated. They were actually two points ahead of Isca Town with one to play, but were soundly trounced by Newfield, 7-3, while Isca Town compounded Archbishop's misery with a 2-1 win against substitutes and youngsters. Isca Town were just returning from the Yeoman Division, and were lucky not to end up there again.

Usually, the teams who are relegated from the Sovereign Division return the next year, with few exceptions, but even fewer have the sort of season that St. Martin had in the Yeoman Division. An incredible eighteen wins against one loss and three draws in twenty-two matches. Their loss came on MD4, so they were undefeated (15-3-0) for the rest of the season, en route to an impressive 57 points, a full twenty-two more than runners-up Londinium County. Their attacking style constantly kept the ball in the opposing half, rarely allowing the second division clubs to expose their defensive weaknesses. Boyd Phillips, though getting on in age at 33, scored fourteen goals to lead the Horsemen, while Rolf Pitre, at a mere twenty years of age, notched twelve goals in his first professional season. City finished in the cellar for the second time in three years, while FC Mineurs returned to the top four after a surprise last-place finish.

Welcome to Match Day 1!

The opening game of this newly created league was also the Game of the Week and highlighted two teams who are expected to finish at the top of the table, the Parma Sonics and the Phillipsburg Miners. The game started predictable enough with the opening 20 minutes, creating chances for both teams. Nerves seemed to get the better of the players as those opportunities were squandered. In the 22nd minute however, history was made as Parma's star CAM Herman Calhoun fired a striking net into the net from 30 yards out, for the first goal ever scored in GNSL history. The half time score line showed both teams tendency for scoring with Parma 2-1 Phillipsburg. With the stars for both teams shining and the defense seeming unable to contain the striker's this high pace maintained throughout the match with the final score line at Parma Sonics 4-2 Phillipsburg Miners.

Other high profile games from around the league include: the Davis Ducks facing off against the Broomsfield Spiders. With the nearly 1 billion gold coin stadium being finished just weeks before the opening match, Davis was hoping for a great start to the season. However, they were bitterly disappointed to lose. The final of the match was Davis Ducks 0-3 Broomsfield Spiders in an absolutely embarrassing affair.

The Port Royal Predators however did get off to a great start against the Sandpoint Raiders, scoring the first two goals and never conceding the lead. With the unlikely hero CDM Daniel Gill coming through with two absolutely undeniable headers from set pieces to make the final Port Royal Predators 2-1 Sandpoint Raiders.

History: Shortly after Chiata's second World Cup, the CFA was founded and given the task of creating a domestic league for Chiata in order to develop better players for the international team. In its first season, the CFA consisted of eight teams that played a double Round-Robbin. Then, a straight knockout tournament was held to determine a winner of the season. Awards were handed out for the Regular Season Title and the Lee Cup, named after Chiata's founder. Next cycle, the CFA started its second season, once again with the same eight teams. However, the funding was cut by the government because of war and the season was abandoned. However, the people of Chiata still wanted a domestic league and decided to make their own. Thus, the CFA was reborn and was owned by shares held by the common citizen of Chiata. Under new administration, the CFA invited back the first eight teams and added eight more teams to make the Division 1 League. The third season was a smashing success as the 16 teams battled it out in a double elimination. For this season, no playoffs were held. Instead, only a Regular Season Title was awarded. Shortly after, the CFA had become so popular that more submissions for teams were sent in. Instead of making the Division 1 League larger, the CFA decided to make a Division II League and Division III League. The DII had 20 teams while the DIII had an astounding 30 teams. Just like the Division 1 League, the other two leagues played a double Round-Robbin and awarded a Regular Season Title. It was overwelming recognized by the populace that the new league system was far better and the the Division 1 League had a good skill of play.
