Introducing: Val Halla Super League

Today initiated the first season of the Val Halla Super League.

24 teams of top athletes compete on the grandest stage of Val Hallan sport. Expected to be watched by tens of millions of football fans, both domestically and internationally, the Vall Halla Super League shows great promise for sport in the country.

The first match day was really something to be excited about with both surprising and exciting games, throughout the day.

The first game results are as follows:

Frostvale United 1–1 Peak FC
Frostvale Central 4–3 Drake FC
Almari Athletic 2–1 Vector Veshiale
Heaverdale Harriers 2–0 Frostvale County
Super Sacarea FC 1–0 Highale Athletic
Hrus FC 1–1 Kariko Football
Salvaris Wanderers 3–1 Enroute Club
Salvaria Saints 0–0 Elzam Town
Highale City 1–0 Sacarea City
Port Calrad FC 1–0 Notron FC
Rangrak Rangers 1–1 Redgatr Rangers
Ashara Athletic 0–1 Souton Town

Perhaps the biggest surprise here is the game in which Frostvale United were held to a 1-1 draw at home against Peak FC. Going in, it seemed like the giants from the capital would smite there opponents from the small northern town, but a mix of steely resolve and an organised defence helped them achieve a monumental draw. There was an utter goal frenzy at the other large large stadium in Frostvale, as Central held off an unfancied Drake team to a 4-3 rush.

So with all those results the standings look like this:

1 Salvaris Wanderers 1 1 0 0 3 1 +2 3
2 Heaverdale Harriers 1 1 0 0 2 0 +2 3
3 Frostvale Central 1 1 0 0 4 3 +1 3
4 Almari Athletic 1 1 0 0 2 1 +1 3
5 Highale City 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
6 Port Calrad FC 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
7 Souton Town 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
8 Super Sacarea FC 1 1 0 0 1 0 +1 3
9 Frostvale United 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
10 Hrus FC 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
11 Kariko Football 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
12 Peak FC 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
13 Rangrak Rangers 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
14 Redgatr Rangers 1 0 1 0 1 1 0 1
15 Elzam Town 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1
16 Salvaria Saints 1 0 1 0 0 0 0 1

Today saw the establishment of the Farlandrian Associated Football Commission, as well as the formal announcement of a Farlandrian National Associated Football League. Founder and Chief Executive Commissioner, Elizabeth Buxton, made the announcement in a press conference outside the Commission's HQ, Lancaster House. Ms Buxton said

"Today is a wonderful day for professional sport in this country and one that will be looked upon for generations as the starting point of what I and I'm sure everyone else here today hopes will become a strong and successful tradition of association football in this country. The Commission exists for all teams across the country who wish to register with us, the official governing body, and it is with this in mind we have made the creation of a league structure that can incorporate all levels of abilities, from those who can compete on the global elite stage to grass-roots amateurs, our first and highest priority. As of today, we are announcing a ten-team mens National Premier Division (NPD) and an eight-team Women's National Premier Division (WNPD). We also aim to create more leagues within the coming weeks, months and years as teams register with Commission. Our goal is to have a four tier Men's league structure and at least a two tier Women's structure, as well as one senior national side for both genders."

Ms Buxton then went on to say that the formal announcement of the teams who will compete in the inaugural NPD and WNPD competitions, as well as the announcement of the respective head coaches of the Farlandrian Men's and Women's national sides will be made tomorrow.

GWFA Season 5

One of the closest seasons in memory, it went down to a 1st vs 2nd showdown on the final day between Leavesden Rovers and recently promoted Bovingdon FC, with the former 2 points ahead. Rickmansworth Rovers FC and Cassio Club bot suffered relegation, along with Welwyn Garden City, for the first time in the modern era.

Challenge League
In the Challenge League, Abbots Langley FC took a reasonably comfortable title and instant return to the Super League, along with fellow instant returnees Crxoley FC. In the playoffs, with the final now held in a neutral venue, Vicarage FC's curse struck again, losing on penalites to Apsley FC, who now have a season in the Super League, something the small town could only dream of at the start of the modern era. All 3 promoted sides were relegated back to the National League.

National League
A sad day in the history of the GWFA came midway through the season when Garston Rangers FC folded. The classic side wound up with unsustainable level of debt. In the end, Hatfield FC and London Colney FC regained their places in the Challenge League, and Galleria Football followed them through the playoffs. Only 2 relegation spaces existed due to Garston's demise, and they fell to Bushey Heath FC and Sarratt FC, who both gained points against Garston, but lost them when their record was expunged.

KERFA Season 5

Postby Kernansquillec » Sat Nov 22, 2014 7:57 am

KERFA FOOTBALL LEAGUE - YEAR 5

Preview
In August 2060 the football league was getting ready for it's fifth anniversary. 32 teams across three divisions were getting ready to do battle after what was a succesful 2059-60 season. Rennes did the double, the Third Division was born and Kernansquillec City won the rights to host the finals of the Series B Champions' Cup and the Youth Cup (despite having actually submitted a bid).

This year there are no major changes. A first transfer window took place with some minor exchanges, with the headline move being Sara Blackwood's 6 million move from Binic to St Marie. Varinia Varano' also left Binic for 6 million, moving to Kernansquillec City. In the First Division Rennes were finally favorites to take the title at the start of the season. The Second Division was shaping up to be quite open and everyone was wondering just how well the newly promoted Île-du-Capital, Jadaq and Adéliaine would perform against established professional sides. Down in the Third Division Trégrom were being tipped as favorites to jump right back up.

Champions' Cup 57: The Quarry, Binic (capacity 68,000)
Despite being relegated from the First Division at the end of the 2059-60 season Binic are submitting a hosting bid for the Champions' Cup to promote the rich history that surrounds Binic, but also to try and gain some extra revenue. The Stadium itself is one of the oldest major stadiums still in service in Kernansquillec. Built in 2010, it was converted into a prisoner camp during the Great War and even served a spell as a hospital towards the end of the war as Kernansquillec forces pushed back enemy lines. The war left it's mark on the stadium with massive conversion work needed, but it now has good facilities. Visitings fans will enjoy their stay in the Goose Coast with Binic located in northern Kernansquillec. Curious fans will be able to learn more about the Great War and Kernansquillecan culture, while the more adventurous may want to make the trip East to Lake Oranga.

In the 5th season (excluding the 10 previous seasons, which were not made available to the international community (OOC: scorinated, but not posted. More to establish which teams were good than for the actual standings)), a team besides Newfield FC breaks through and wins the Sovereign Division. It's Archbishop FC that does the deed, defeating Heartwood FC 4-1 on the final day while Newfield sat idle. They take the crown by one point. Newfield will have to make do with the Globe Cup. They did get their revenge in the Nova Anglican Cup final and will be the first-ever Nova Anglican representatives to the Cygnus Cup. FC Portus will make its third straight appearance in the Globe Cup despite finishing a distant third in the league. They also needed PKs to beat third-division AFC Truro in the Nova Anglican Cup. Joining them for the first time will be Springs FC, who jumped from seventh to fourth. Springs previously missed out on the Globe Cup two years ago by just two points. The team that took that fourth spot, Castellum FC, tumbled all the way to tenth this year, courtesy of a poor attack. Aidan Ferguson, the NS$6 million man, only provided a paltry six goals. He did notch two of Castellum's six goals in the Nova Anglican Cup, as they made a run to the quarters before being eliminated by Newfield. Labrador's Jeckish strikers, Louis Stewar and Alexander Walters, combined to score just seven goals between them despite being installed as the two men at the top. They scored half of Labrador's goals, but half of fourteen is still pitiful. Chris Hodges scored eleven of County's eighteen goals, but he couldn't stop them from being relegated. They defeated Sept-Iles on the last day, but were already in the relegation zone. Sanctuary FC moved up from eighth to sixth in their second year, but they also played Newfield tough in a Cup semifinal defeat. They'll be someone to watch out for in the next year.

Lumberjacks will return to the top flight after being relegated two seasons ago. They hope to extend their stay beyond one season, avoiding the fate of County. Artisans FC crashed all the way down to last (behind City by 5 points) after making the SBCC last year. Vinovium United failed in their bid to return to the Sovereign Division and will have to content themselves with an SBCC appearance and the fact that they defeated Newfield FC in a road leg of the Nova Anglican Cup. Comrades will again appear in the SBCC, while Shepherds loses their place to FC Acadia. Acadia surged from last to fourth, showing the volatility of the divsion, but one has to wonder how Acadia will do after losing to third-division weakling Harbour Breton in extra time in the Nova Anglican Cup. It certainly doesn't bode well.

Farlandrian Association Football Commission Announces 10 teams for Mens League, 8 for Womens division.

Today the FAFC announced the ten mens clubs and 8 womens clubs who will compete in the first ever national football leagues. A press release from Lancaster House revealed the following teams will compete in the leagues, with matches scheduled to kick off from the 1st of January 2015:

National Premier Division 2015

1. Allensborough F.c
2. Ashgrove Athletic F.C
3. Carston Town F.C
4. Cricklefield Warriors F.C
5. F.C Dynamo Jacobsberg
6. Jacobsberg City F.C
7. Nittlefield F.C
8. Port Charleston Athletic F.C
9. St. Mathews Holy Trinity Academy Sports Club
10. West Carston Wanderers F.C

Women's National Premier Divison 2015

1. Ashgrove Athletic W.F.C
2. Carston Ladies United W.F.C
3. Jacobsberg Jaguars W.F.C
4. Jacobsberg City W.F.C
5. Nittlefield W.F.C
6. Metropolitan Police (Carston) W.F.C
7. Orlsford W.F.C
8. Tallasville Belles W.F.C

It came as no surprise to see both leagues containing more than one team from the capital city of Jacobsberg, and it's no doubt that some of the most hotly anticipated games will be the Jacobsberg derbies. In the mens division, there is also a great deal of excitement to see Carston Town go up against local rivals, West Carston Wanderers. Early predictions are the champions will be from either Carston or Jacobsberg, although few pundits are willing to pin down exactly which side they back at this stage. However, not everyone is expected to do so well, as it is thought it'll be a difficult rookie season for Nittlefield and Ashgrove Town.

In the ladies division, there is another Jacobsberg derby to look forward to, along with Carston Town ladies taking on a team of female officers from the Carston Met Police Force. The womens division is seen as equally open, with the Tallasville Belles being predicted to give Jacobsberg City or Carston town a serious run for their money come the end of the season.

Squads must be submitted to the FAFC by 1st December 2014. Fixtures will be announced on December 20th with matches to begin on 1st of January 2015.

Microcalanian Football League

Microcalania is a small micronation of 100,000 diaspora scattered across New Drakonika. The eight teams contesting this league are part of eight mostly symbolic zones based on the cardinal directions, the zones spread out from the Microcalanian Embassy in Drknika. The players are utterly useless and always swap teams whenever they feel like. They are also amateurs.

Walmazia Football League debuts as an amateur league with the following teams:

Walmazia United
Stuartown FC
Eastborough Rovers
Danielston Town
Fleetwood AFC
Tyne River FC
Waldsamia City
Peterston SC
Montalabash FC
Calacea AC

All teams listed in order of predicted finish, which is calculated based on number of national team players each club team has, and how rich their owner is.
United are the biggest club in Walmazia, and they play their games at the WalSport Stadium, just 5 miles from the new National Stadium. Their kits are blue and white.
Stuartown FC is United's biggest rival. They are the most left club politically in Walmazia, incorporating a policy of including foreign players, not just Walmazians. They play their games at the Stuartown Park, which is located in the heart of Stuartown, just 20 minutes south of Walmazia City. Their kit is a flashy pink kit, the most popular kit in the WFL in October, and the away kit is dark brown.
Eastborough Rovers are the club with the most violent ultras, and they are not well-liked by most Walmazians. They ply their trade in the poor town of Eastborough, the farthest town in the WFL. Their home kit is sky blue with white hoops, and their away kit is red with black collar. They play their games at EastTV Field, and they charge the lowest ticket prices in the league.
Danielston Town is located in Danielston, just a short distance away from Walmazia City to its west. They are known for their posh attitude, and their policy of only employing the sons and daughters of government workers or corporation upper management. they boast the playing services of Leo Drury, the son of the Walmazia FA Chairman, who is the worst player on their team. They play their home games at the Walmazia War Memorial Coliseum, and they wear all-white at home, and all-black on the road. Good luck getting tickets, as they are the most expensive in the league.
Fleetwood AFC have the lowest-capacity stadium in the league, only boasting around 10,000 seats. They pride themselves of spending within their means, and have never fallen into debt. They wear a white kit with red stripes as their primary, and a blue and yellow-striped kit as a secondary.
Tyne River are located in Tynetown, the mining town to the northwest of Walmazia City. To this town, football is the way out of those disgusting mines. They play in a black and white home kit, and a neon (read: Seattle Sounders FC) green second.
Waldasmia City are a club owned by local businessman Roger Darnett, and they boast a squad of (almost) all Waldasmia supporters. They play in an all-red home kit, and a second kit that looks like something you'd wear to an ugly Christmas sweater contest. They are most famous for playing "You'll Never Walk Alone" just prior to kickoff.
Known as "The People's Club", Peterston SC are a club that opposes WFL-mandated minimum ticket prices and boasts an inferiority complex to Waldasmia despite having the richer owner and (slightly) better players. The media ranks them underneath Waldasmia due to the amount of ex-Waldasmia players in the media. They play in a blue home kit with white shorts, and they play in an all-black second kit.
Up in the mountains rests Montalabash FC, a very provincial team who earned the right to play in the WFL due to the need for teams in the south. They are supporter-owned, and they are prime relegation candidates when a second division can be formed. They play in an outlandish teal home kit with a white sash, and they have a forest green second kit with red sash.
Finally, Calacea AC is the only club in the league that does not have football as their top priority. They play their games in the Calacea Dome, which is primarily used as an American football stadium, and they wear a plain yellow home kit and a plain navy blue second kit.

The FA has announced that each team will play each other twice, once home and once away. The champion will qualify for the Champions' Cup, and a 4-team playoff (2-5) will determine who qualifies for the Globe Cup.

Val Halla Super Football League: Week 9

On the ninth week of the Val Halla Super Football League, there were plenty of games to be excited about, and some shock results to boot.

Super Sacarea FC 5-0 Peak FC

Peak FC came into this game somewhat wounded. Despite their assertive week 7 victory at Heaverdale, they were falling down after early season success. Week 8 held a 2-0 loss against Sacarea City at home. With the week 9 game following against City's local rivals, it seemed like it would be a competiton of which Sacarea team would outdo the other. The game that followed seemed like a stamp of Super Sacarea's authority, with a dominant victory that closes the gap between the rivals to one point.

Hrus FC 3-0 Heaverdale Harriers

A strong clash was on the cards here. Heaverdale and Hrus hold two of the leagues biggest teams. The Val Hallan equivalent of Manchester United and Liverpool held promises of a strong, competitive match. However, the neutral standpoint was left disappointed, with Hrus taking a comfortable home victory, that continues their strong form.

Port Calrad FC 3-4 Drake FC

Drake pulled off one of the strongest upsets we have seen so far this season. With what was the most enticing game of the week, Drake played some strong football to leave the home fans bitterly disappointed.

Ashara Athletic 0-1 Frostvale County

It took 9 weeks for back-markers Frostvale County to pull off their first win, and it will be questioned how well deserved it was. It was a very aggressive and overall poor performance from both sides, with it taking a controversial penalty call to open the nets to the games only goal. The victory leaves Frostvale United, one of the big contenders going into the year, in last and the only team winless.

The full results and table follow:

Cygnus Cup: Sport Wios

Heritage Cup: Marvel Team, Minigoleada

Dainer (DAI) final site bids:
CHAMPIONS' CUP - The Gigempat, Derdia (120,000) - Home of Minigoleada
Image
Image
The largest football stadium in Dainer, with its unique star-shaped profile, looms majestically among the buildings of the small city of Derdia. It's something that could only happen in Dainer - a stadium that holds more people than the city where it's located. It's a testament to the passion of Minigoleada fans and Dainer's obsession with public transportation. Supporters and visitors alike can easily reach the stadium from the major cities of Adda, Jalvador, Cidade Pupidu and Acropolis in no time flat, making the weekend commutes a sea of green and black.

GLOBE CUP - Metropolitan Sports Complex, Urdu (66,000) - Home of Voley
Image
The football stadium, with its striking checkered dome, is just a small part of the massive system of buildings that is the largest sports-dedicated facility in Futurnia. The place features dedicated staff, a downloadable app for mobile devices and carefully labeled corridors to prevent visitors from getting lost in the premises. Which still happens dismayingly often. Damn tourists.

SERIES B CHAMPIONS' CUP - Herald Arena, Genriysai (63.000) - Home of Zill
Image
Genriysai is a city of living Daineri history, and while the Herald isn't nearly as old as the sites around it, it is the fifth generation of stadiums dedicated to Dainer's first national champion, all built on the same spot. The current one is a state of the art modern facility, but the colorful banners hoisted up whenever Zill is playing are just like the ones back in the day. The administration promises to get some in appropriate colors if their bid is accepted.

Walmazia Globe Cup Playoff Final Build-Up:

Fleetwood AFC supporters group head Michael Oliver said to WalSport's Peter Crabtree:
"We were not even projected to make the playoffs for the Globe Cup, but we're here now. Walmazia City can't wait too much longer for us. We're ready to make this playoff final a home match for the lads. Whatever other club comes into the National Stadium, we'll outsing them, despite our small numbers. We may have the smallest stadium in the country, but we sell out every single game. Even United don't sell out their games, and they're the biggest club in the country. We are Fleetwood, and we're going to win the final, and win the Cup."
On Cory Patterson's 10 goals this season for United (youth product of Fleetwood): "He would've scored 25 for us this year. Glad he's gone though; the [expletive]'s dead to me."
On any future stadium expansion: "If the Board can finance it and we don't have to take out loans, I'll support expanding the stadium. For now, however, we're quite happy with where we are now."
On their opponents, Tyne River FC: "Y'know the old adage about not saying anything if you don't have anything nice to say? Well, those coal-breathing dumbos are the scum of the earth. I don't know how they even got a team into the league to begin with, and now we have to go through them to get to the Globe Cup? Please! We'll smash 'em!"

A report from Tynetown will be filed tomorrow.
(OOG: Does anyone find these kind of posts entertaining?)

Peter Crabtree sits down today with the supporters group head of Tyne River FC in Tynetown.

On the season: "We're just honored to be in a position to qualify for the Globe Cup in our first season of existence. We know that Fleetwood will be a tough team, but I think we're up to the challenge."
On the effect of the club on the town: "This club brings us joy every single week. As you know, we're all miners, and we do what we can to survive down there. This club gives us the chance to express ourselves in support. We're deeply in gratitude to our owners for believing in us and giving some of our young lads a way out of the mines."
On the controversial comments made yesterday by the head of the Fleetwood supporters' group: "We're not going to entertain them. We're here to support our team, nothing else. We don't look down on Fleetwood; they're a good football team, but I hope we're going to be better than them tomorrow."

Reminder: The game is tomorrow on WalSport.

Globe Cup Playoff Final
Fleetwood AFC v Tyne River FC

Venue: Walmazia National Stadium, Walmazia City, Walmazia
Capacity: 52,500
Attendance: 48,912

Starting Lineups:
Fleetwood: (4-2-3-1): Eastleigh; Thomas, Dunbar, Worthington, Fitch; Barry, McAllister; Saunders, Stuart (c), Pearson; Hammerabi
Tyne River: (4-4-2 diamond; MFs listed from defense to wingers to attacking): Howard (c); Loewmister, Swarnie, Lewis, Radcliffe; Mullet, Gibson, McCarthy, Wallace; Cawl
Match Officials:
CR: Michael Dawson
AR1: Will Franklin
AR2: Shane Merriman
4O: Xavier Polkowski

Match Commentary:
1' Kickoff
15' YC: Swarnie fouls Stuart hard from outside the PA on the far side of the goal; FK to Fleetwood. Looked a bit harsh for a yellow, that can be called in that position.
FK: Saunders to take. Crosses it far post to Dunbar. GOAL Fleetwood. 1-0
23' GOAL Fleetwood. Pearson receives the ball from a GK in acres of space and the Tyne River defense doesn't know what hit them. 2-0
34' SUSPENSION: Play suspended due to a pitch invasion by a Tyne River supporter taking aim at the manager with a firearm. He has been arrested. Play continues after 3 minutes.
36' Apparently the Tyne River defense had a little too much sleep this afternoon. Stuart just passes it through their defense like a hot knife through butter to Hammerabi towards the edge of the 6-yard box; can't miss from there... but he does. The ball lands in the parking lot.
45' 2 minutes of added time announced by Polkowski.
45+2' HALFTIME
Due to Walmazia FA laws, we cannot reprint what was said during the locker room speeches, but the Tyne River FC manager was noticeably upset at his players during the 15-minute interval. We could hear his speech loud and clear in the press area. Understandably, that makes us unnerved.
SECOND HALF KICKOFF
51' Yet another pass to Hammerabi from his midfield. This time, he's able to find the open net in front of him. GOAL. 3-0
60' SUB: In: Hamilton for Mullet; tactical switch to 4-3-3
62' Hamilton makes an immediate impact by whipping in a good cross to Cawl's 6'8" head, but Cawl handles it monstrously.
68' GOAL. Thbis is too easy for Fleetwood. The Tyne River defense have been failing their keeper and captain all game long. Hammerabi scores his brace. 4-0.
87' PENALTY: Swarnie receives his marching orders to be sent off the pitch for a very hard stonewall penalty. Thomas slots the bottom right corner. 5-0.
90' FINAL

Season I: 1303

The Board for Varmellese Football would like to present the inaugural edition of the Liga Varmelle. Twelve clubs from across the small nation have formed to create this league. Taking place over twenty-two matchdays in a twenty-four week period, the twelve clubs will battle it out to determine the best club in the land. The winner is granted a spot in the Champions' Cup, while the second and third placed teams are granted spots in the Globe Cup. The final spot is determined by The Ferdinand Cup, in which the winner of said competition earns a spot in the Cup Winners' Cup. For spots in the Campionato Esportiva di Campeones, those are determined by the winner of the Liga Varmelle, and winner of The Ferdinand Cup. With that being said, let's profile each of the teams participating in the inaugural edition.

Run by a convent, the Association of Virgins in Magdalene, better known to the non-religious fan as AVi Magdalene do want to spread the word of Christ via goalscoring and prayer. There's one problem. The executive administration is run by nuns who know almost nothing about football management. So, with eighteen amateur players picked off from the streets of Magdalene, you probably shouldn't expect much out of this team. Sure, there is the okay defensive midfielder known as Juan Esteban, but what else should you expect? We'll be expecting the squad to finish in the lower half of the table.

Association Camille is one of the more moderate spenders in the league, with some no-name talent, but some legitimately good players. Like the great forward Al Whinery, who can sure as hell put a goal in the net. At least, that's what his mother told the owners. In tense anticipation, the squad is looking not to displease, and stand tall above most others. We can see the squad finishing in the top four, but if they need a miracle in order to get top three, and a guaranteed spot in UICA competition. Or just a lucky point or two.

The coneflowers of Echinacea are one of the lesser favoured squads in the Liga Varmelle. But what they lack in money, or general skill is what they make up in heart and soul. With the veteran goalkeeper Leroy Finley captaining their squad, they have some experience leading the relatively young squad. But one of the things that will make the team stand out is their bright pink kits, reflecting the colour of the coneflower. For all we know, maybe the atrocity of their kits could help win a game or two, but we wouldn't be surprised if their kits didn't blind anyone, and led them to a bottom three position.

The Conquerors, as they are affectionately called by long-time (i.e. two months) fans of the club, are looking forward to demonstrating their might on the pitch. And the appropriately called FC Caesar do certainly have an edge to them that others don't have. They have actual talent, unlike most of the squads. With a front three led by Gervásio Saunders, Martin Faraldo, and Hedley Fekete, the squad has optimal chances of finishing well. The three are expected to lead the club into a top four spot with absolute ease.

The Capital Lads, Gala do certainly have the support of Leader Lindsey Wells, who is rumoured to have vast wealth in her pockets. As a result of her totally clean contributions to the club, they have gone all out in spending players. This led to the biggest landing of all time, the greatest Equestrian player to ever grace Varmelle, the thirty-three year old centre-back known as Black Marble. As the only foreigner in the league, he's a shoe in for "Foreigner of the Year." And because he is such a great player, the team is paying him an estimated $187.5 million NSD, an outstanding amount of cash for the greatest player ever. And without a doubt, they can expect to finish within the top two.

And as they play away, the Hollywood Winds will howl. Now, the squad is just a walk away from high calibre, or an utter travesty. Yes, they do have Sebestyén Baumbach to lead the midfield, but you can't simply win titles relying on one guy. Football is, after all, a team sport. And how the team does is based on their chemistry, and talent. The Hollywood Winds don't have either of those to simply compete with other clubs. They'll be a mid-tier team, but if they can pull off a fourth place finish, I certainly wouldn't be surprised.

The Unified City of Lee Miller isn't really that unified. More in fact, each borough hates each others guts. So, when it came to creating the Liga Varmelle, two teams, one for each borough were created. This is the Lee Borough squad, which, in my humble opinion: is just plain terrible. They suck, and they, just like AVi Magdalene, picked up eighteen random amateur players. Only this time there weren't any good players on the squad. So what the hell are you supposed to expect from a squad that has little to no talent? Well, it's very simple. Into the trash they go. And don't get me started on the other club...

...Which I kind of have to preview, because "M" comes after "L" in the alphabet. But in any case, the Miller Borough aren't any better. Again, eighteen players they literally picked up off of the streets of the Lee Miller, and all eighteen of them are purely terrible. Well, there is this winger they have in Hammond Henson, but granted, that's literally about it. The only good thing about these two clubs is that they're picking up players from both sides of the city, so props to them for promoting integration within the city. Likewise, this is another team that will finish in the bottom three. But maybe there is a bright future.

The Matchmakers of the City of Sacre Coeur are here to match themselves up with a spot in the top three! And they have the back four to prove it. With veteran centre-backs such as Otis Coelho, and Wyn Pond leading the back three, this is one squad that can certainly steal hearts. Their style of play is heavily reliant on the midfield, with the heart of it all being with Laurenz Platt, their sole centre-midfielder out of five midfielders. He is one of the keys to leading the squad into a good finish, but a heart's beat is worthless when the mind isn't functioning properly. And when your two forwards are marijuana enthusiasts, you're going to have a problem...but hey, the squad has to hope that they aren't high on match-days.

What's wrong with a little destruction? Everything, because the type of football Sankt Rollox plays is the sort of football you expect to see played by two cartel leaders, with the loser being executed. But hey, it's that "last day" mentality that keeps Sankt Rollox alive, isn't it? And the thing is that the squad's "last day" mentality truly works with a team like this. They're always on the offensive, and truly their goal is to score whenever is necessary. Because, you only need to be ahead by a goal to win the match. This squad has potential in fighting with Gala for a spot in the top two. However, if Quincy Reiher gets injured, and the fallen are the only virtuous among the Sankt Rollox squad, then they're all damned.

Ah, four avant grade artists decided to get high one night, and come up with the brilliant idea to form a football club. And now they're competing in the Liga Varmelle. Led by two upcoming centre-backs in Robert Thomson, and Alex Hardy, centre-midfielder Paul McCarthy, and forward Nick Kapranos, they decided to get fourteen of their most athletic fans, and form this club. They love their friends as they're all so sporty, in addition to the arty in them. Thus, The Transmission Party began with high hopes. And surprisingly, the squad is actually good. I mean, they aren't good enough as a Gala, or whatever, but they can do well enough to show that the party life is a good life.

The last team in the Liga Varmelle is none other than Valium Athletic. Yes, the city in which the club is located is named after the club. And, for once, the restless legs of these players won't be cured. The youngest of the squads, their youth is absolutely something that stand out. And even with their youth, the speed every player has is out of the roof remarkable. Irving Funkse is the most agile of these players, and at full back, he can be at any place, any time. Without a doubt, you'll be looking out for him. But is youth the thing that will hold out the team from a place in the top four? Maybe, maybe not.

With that being said, let's take a look at the league, and updates throughout every seven matchdays, and the final matchday of the season. Let's take a look at the table after seven matches so far.

After Seven Matchdays
Liga Varmelle Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Gala 7 7 0 0 16 4 +12 21
2 Valium Athletic 7 4 2 1 14 9 +5 14
3 Echinacea 7 4 2 1 10 5 +5 14
4 The Transmission Party 7 4 2 1 10 6 +4 14
5 Sankt Rollox 7 4 1 2 9 8 +1 13
6 Hollywood Winds 7 3 0 4 10 10 0 9
7 FC Caesar 7 2 3 2 11 12 −1 9
8 AVi Magdalene 7 2 2 3 7 8 −1 8
9 Miller Borough 7 2 0 5 8 10 −2 6
10 Association Camille 7 0 4 3 10 14 −4 4
11 Sacre Coeur 7 0 3 4 11 18 −7 3
12 Lee Borough 7 0 1 6 6 18 −12 1

Love'll die, yet Gala remains, still undefeated. An impressive start to the season, the club have taken twenty-one out of the possible twenty-one points available so far. The battle below Gala, however, is much more interesting because let's face it. Winning all the time is pretty damn boring. Meanwhile, on the other hand, four teams are competing for two spots in the Globe Cup, with Valium, Echinacea, and The Transmission Party all with the same points, while Sankt Rollox is right behind the three by just one point. Needless to say, the four will be having a fun time this season if things stay the same. Below them, it looks desolate, with the Winds outstanding drunk businessmen/pundits by doing terribly after seven games. Lee Borough has nothing to be proud of, as they have only gathered one point in seven matches. Who knows how'll they'll be doing after fourteen matches.

After Fourteen Matchdays
Liga Varmelle Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Gala 14 9 2 3 25 15 +10 29
2 Sankt Rollox 14 8 2 4 23 18 +5 26
3 The Transmission Party 14 6 5 3 21 17 +4 23
4 FC Caesar 14 6 4 4 25 19 +6 22
5 Hollywood Winds 14 7 1 6 22 20 +2 22
6 Echinacea 14 6 3 5 22 19 +3 21
7 Valium Athletic 14 5 6 3 22 21 +1 21
8 Association Camille 14 5 4 5 24 23 +1 19
9 AVi Magdalene 14 4 4 6 13 16 −3 16
10 Sacre Coeur 14 4 4 6 21 25 −4 16
11 Miller Borough 14 3 3 8 16 20 −4 12
12 Lee Borough 14 1 2 11 12 33 −21 5

Here they are, The Transmission Party. Argued by the football pundit community in Varmelle (drunk businessmen claiming to be pundits) as one of the weaker squads in the Liga, they are doing surprisingly well for themselves. The Party does need to watch out, as the gap between a Globe Cup spot and match in the preliminary round of The Ferdinand Cup is only two points, leaving to their relatively young squad to possibly collapse. But at this point,, Sankt Rollox and Gala are expected to battle it out for the title, with Rollox catching up after a mediocre second third for Gala, who only won twice in the seven game span. Lastly, the city of Lee Miller are going to be disappointed with themselves, as the clubs are 11-12 in the table, with the Lee Borough only clocking in five points in fourteen games. Maybe in seventeen years, they can be a better squad, but you know what I mean, yeah?

After Twenty-One Matchdays
Liga Varmelle Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Gala 21 11 5 5 36 24 +12 38
2 FC Caesar 21 11 5 5 32 25 +7 38
3 Sankt Rollox 21 10 4 7 27 25 +2 34
4 Association Camille 21 9 5 7 40 34 +6 32
5 Sacre Coeur 21 9 5 7 31 31 0 32
6 Valium Athletic 21 8 7 6 34 29 +5 31
7 The Transmission Party 21 8 7 6 28 26 +2 31
8 Echinacea 21 8 5 8 29 28 +1 29
9 Hollywood Winds 21 7 6 8 26 27 −1 27
10 Miller Borough 21 5 6 10 25 28 −3 21
11 AVi Magdalene 21 4 7 10 18 25 −7 19
12 Lee Borough 21 4 2 15 20 44 −24 14

Going into the final matchday, FC Caesar need a point, with Gala losing their match in order for FC Caesar to win the inaugural edition of the league. If both teams lose, Gala needs to lose by at least five goals in order for FC Caesar to win the league. The third Globe Cup Spot is also heavily under contention, as five teams are still fighting for third place, and the final Globe Cup spot able to be earned via the league. The Transmission Party has fallen out of grace from a coveted top three spot, and are now unable to qualify for UICA competitions via the domestic league. For the other teams, it sucks to be them, and hope their act gets better next season. Until then, there's always the Cup, which can help redeem the dreams of shattered teams.

Final Results
Liga Varmelle Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Gala 22 11 5 6 38 27 +11 38
2 FC Caesar 22 11 5 6 33 28 +5 38
3 Sacre Coeur 22 10 5 7 34 31 +3 35
4 Valium Athletic 22 9 7 6 37 31 +6 34
5 Sankt Rollox 22 10 4 8 28 27 +1 34
6 Association Camille 22 9 5 8 41 36 +5 32
7 The Transmission Party 22 8 7 7 28 29 −1 31
8 Hollywood Winds 22 8 6 8 29 28 +1 30
9 Echinacea 22 8 5 9 29 31 −2 29
10 Miller Borough 22 6 6 10 27 29 −2 24
11 AVi Magdalene 22 5 7 10 20 26 −6 22
12 Lee Borough 22 5 2 15 23 44 −21 17

Not surprisingly, Gala have won the inaugural season of the Liga Varmelle, but despite their strong start in the first third of the season, the title came down to goals difference, something the club didn't want to win on. Nonetheless, they are the champions and receive an extra week of rest before they're due to play in The Ferdinand Cup. A surprise win by the Virgins of Magdalene have on the final day Sankt Rollox looking out on a Globe Cup spot via the league. Not only that, the club loses their elusive bye week, and therefore have to play in the preliminary rounds of The Ferdinand Cup. Meanwhile, Valium Athletic nab the final bye spot, hopping from sixth to fourth with a win over the champions, Gala. For the teams who didn't do that well, it's time for a week of rest before they get back to work.

The Ferdinand Cup
Closing out the year in Varmellese football is The Ferdinand Shield, named after Ferdinand van Tango, the founder of the Board for Varmellese Football (BVF). The nation's most prestigious cup, the knockout tournament begins with the fifth through twelfth placed teams participating in the preliminary rounds. The match ups for the preliminary rounds are determined by the placement of the teams throughout the season. The four winners are then paired up with the top four teams based on their placement in the season. After that, the winners between the matches involving the first and fourth placed teams, and the winners between the matches involving the second and third placed teams battle it off. The winners then move onto the final, to determine the winners of The Ferdinand Cup. The following teams are given a bye to the second round: Gala, FC Caesar, Sacre Coeur, Valium Athletic

Preliminary Round
Sankt Rollox 2–3 Lee Borough
Association Camille 3–2 AVi Magdalene
The Transmission Party 2–1 Miller Borough
Hollywood Winds 2–3 Echinacea

A disappointing end for Sankt Rollox, as Lee Borough win their fourth straight match. While Sankt Rollox were billed as favourites, a monumental collapse leads to this. The Transmission Party still rolls strong, as the loud music gets louder and louder. Echinacea and Assoc. Camille both do well, and move on to the next round to face their respective opponents. In the case of Lee Borough, they're facing the almighty Gala, hoping to keep the upset trend alive and well. Meanwhile, Association Camille faces off against Valium Athletic, The Transmission Party invites the Sacre Coeur to dance, while Echinacea battles FC Ceasar.

First Round
Gala 1–2 Lee Borough
Valium Athletic 2–0 Association Camille
FC Caesar 1–0 Echinacea
Sacre Coeur 1–3 The Transmission Party

Surprise win yet again by the Lee Borough, as two early goals help the squad dominate against the ever powerful Gala. Black Marble, was displeased, to say the least with one of the goals, leading to him intentionally hurting a player from the Lee Borough, and thus getting booked out of there. His response was a big "FU" to the ref, as the home crowd cheered him off. Another disappointing finish for Sacre Coeur, as the artists of The Transmission Party knock them out. Meanwhile, FC Caesar and Valium Athletic both win their matches, with Valium Athletic being forced to go to the home pitch of the Lee Borough.

Semi-Finals
Lee Borough 1–1 Valium Athletic (2–1 AET)
FC Caesar 1–2 The Transmission Party

Cinderellas reign supreme in the Ferdinand Cup, as both lower seeded teams end up winning their match. A stunning goal at the end of the second half of extra time from one of those amateur losers sealed a place in the final for the Lee Borough. Meanwhile, some fans of the Miller Borough have committed seppuku as the success of their rival club is too much for them to handle. Well, FC Ceasar blew it before them, as the Transmission Party doo-do's its way onto the final. Four art students end up going to the final of the Ferdinand Cup, a solid day for them. But now the question is: Do They Want To?

Final - Arena of the Outsiders (cap. 66,000)
Lee Borough 0–1 The Transmission Party

Well, what an end for the fans of the Lee Borough. Close, but no cigar, as they say in the country. Well fought off between the two, but it was a goal from Nick Kapranos that gave the squad a spot in the Globe Cup. And what a day it was for those eighteen artists. Who would have thought that the powerhouse clubs would be out of the tournament early on, and that artists would win the damn cup? Nonetheless, lucky lucky, they're so lucky. The Transmission Party earns themselves a spot in the UICA Globe Cup, the Campionato Esportiva di Campeones, and the Thirty-Second Edition of the Cup Winners' Cup.
