UNPRECEDENTED SUCCESS IN IFSCGTFC and BH both advance to the Round of 32 after finishing top of their groups and winning all of their matchesArticle by Ramon Goldstein | Sports Category | Posted 29/8/2014 at 3:43 pm
Bayern Hautbregen fans demonstrate a flag mosaic during the Darvalian club's match against Black Phoenix FCOlastor - And they did it. Both of them. Grimsby Town FC and Bayern Hautbregen, the clubs representing Darvale in the International FireStorm Cup, have both advanced to the Round of 32 of the competition, finishing in first position of Group Four and Group Eight respectively, after both teams won all of their matches. Bayern Hautbregen will be facing JT Munching, a mysterious club from the nation of Jachaelter, while Grimsby Town FC will face off with the winner of At-Tajra United, a club originating from the nation of Al-Mumtaz, and Blaketon Athletic, who will be playing At-Tajra United at their home stadium.
However, rather ironically, if Grimsby Town and Bayern Hautbregen both win their Round of 32 matches, then the two Darvalian teams will be facing each other in a Round of 16 match. In other news, Grimsby Town FC have released their new, official kits, provided courteously by the Meski Soccer Store of Red Blackiland. GTFC are one of the four Darvalian clubs to have received kits from the Meski Soccer Store, along with Fairbanks Royals FC, Oxeport FC, and Athletic Astaria. Images of GTFC's new kits can be found below.
But back to our main story, we'll be giving you a recap of the first two matches of the two Darvalian teams, and then the scoring summaries of the next three matches of both teams.
Bayern Hautbregen 7 - 2 Riuwiee United FC | August 25th, Matchday 1, Beachport Bowl, Hemula, Olastor9th Minute - After a long, off-target shot from Riuwiee midfielder Ralph Dominguez, granting Bayern goalkeeper Paul Allen a goal kick, something paranormally miraculous happened. The ball, at Allen's feet, somehow made its way from its starting point, all the way to the other end of the pitch, past Riuwiee goalkeeper Karim Ansarifarid, and in the net of the goal. In a whopping 4.27 seconds. Allen sent the ball a few meters past the half-line, with midfielder Clement Delacour receiving it nicely. Delacour then turned around, and performed a perfect chip, past Riuwiee defenders Ternante Upsilo, Luke Edwards, and Yevgeniy Letexotu, and to Gavin Reed, star striker of Bayern Hautbregen, who chested the ball, and magnificently volleyed it in the goal, past an unsuspecting Ansarifarid, who, not thinking something like this would happen, was standing 7 meters out from the goal. 1-0 in the 9th minute.
17th Minute - It was Jorge Simpson who put the ball home this time. Max Colton, a Bayern Hautbregen central-midfielder, who put a perfect, low pass all the way from the half-line to Jorge Simpson, who dribbled past Riuwiee defenders Luke Edwards and Yevgeniy Letexotu, and did not fail to score. He slotted the ball nicely into the bottom-right corner. 2-0 in the 17th minute.
27th Minute - And, with unprecedented motivation, Bayern weren't anywhere near stopping. Bayern's wingers, Lewis Walker and Michael Davids, made fabulous runs up both ends of the pitch, but Riuwiee's defense managed to hold for a full ten minutes. Until the 27th minute. A magnificent run from Michael Davids up the right wing allowed him to put an excellent cross into the danger zone. Bayern striker Jorge Simpson was on the receiving end of the cross, but his shot was denied by the crossbar. Fortunately however, Bayern's other striker, Gavin Reed, was there to take the rebound and score Bayern's third goal. 3-0 in the 27th minute.
36th Minute - By Gavin Reed's second goal, the Bayern Hautbregen fans were ecstatic, cheering overbearingly loudly from the stands. For a minnow of the that finished in the bottom half of the last edition of the Darvalian First League table, Bayern were in an exceptional ambiance, and they weren't about to upset their fans. A mere nine minutes after Bayern's third goal, goal number four came. After Clement Delacour, a Bayern midfielder, was tackled 3 meters outside the box by Riuwiee defender Luke Edwards, Bayern were awarded a dangerous free kick. Max Colton would be the one to take it. And he didn't fail to score. The 24 year old graciously chipped the ball into the top-right corner of the goal. 4-0 in the 36th minute.
52nd Minute - Bayern's goalscoring spree wasn't over. Their next goal came seven minutes after the break, in the 52nd minute. With Lewis Walker going off for Ian Ozman in the 51st minute, Bayern's head coach, Gilbert Johnson, had made the perfect decision. Ozman would be the key to the next goal. As soon as Ozman got his first touch on the gal, he made an unbelievable run - from the half-line, all the way to the Riuwiee box, past Riuwiee players Shinji Ikeda, Tony Sucipto, Ternante Upsilo, and Luke Edwards, only to share the pride by simply passing the ball to Jorge Simpson, who easily scored Bayern's fifth goal of the match. 5-0 in the 52nd minute.
75th Minute - By now, Bayern's offense had cooled down, with attackers Gavin Reed and Jorge Simpson calming down a bit, not pushing themselves to try and score every time an opportunity came their way. And they didn't. It was Max Colton who scored his second, and Bayern's sixth goal of the game. It was Bayern left-back Jack Rockton, who, along with the rest of the defense, really had nothing to do, who set up this goal. Rockton sent the ball flying from the Bayern box, all the way to the Riuwiee box. The ball, with the help of a timely gust of wind, went so far in the direction that the ball actually ricocheted off the top post of Riuwiee's goal. However, Max Colton, taking advantage of the unawareness of Riuwiee's defense, headed the ball nicely into the goal. 6-0 in the 75th minute.
78th Minute - Now, everyone thought that that was it. 6-0 would be the final score. They were proven wrong a mere three minutes after Max Colton's second goal of the game. Clement Delacour, a Bayern midfielder, took a long shot from outside the box, but it was denied by the post. However, Gavin Reed took the rebound. Now, Reed took a shot, but it was just off-target, but the ball, on its way to the goal, touched Riuwiee defender Sokratis Tzorvas, altering the trajectory of the ball from half a meter to the right of the goal, to the bottom-left corner of the goal. 7-0 in the 78th minute, with Gavin Reed getting a hat-trick.
80th to 88th Minute - Then, an awkward surprise came. Hamengkubuwono, a Riuwiee striker, somehow scored two goals in the space of twelve minutes. The first goal came two minutes after Gavin Reed's third goal, in the 80th minute. Hans Gruber, the Riuwiee United left winger, chipped the ball into the box from about 10 meters out of the box. Hamengkubuwono, in an incredible shrewd of luck, was somehow able to score a header - from a meter out of the box, making the score 7-1 in the 80th minute. Hamengkubuwono second goal came eight minutes later, in the 88th minute. The Riuwiee striker produced a wonderful dribble, past Bayern defenders Amos Shelton and Evan Brown, and Bayern goalkeeper Paul Allen. Hamengkubuwono simply scored in the open goal, finishing the last action of the game. 7-2 was the final score.
Peeto Gordost 0 - 3 Grimsby Town FC | August 25th, Matchday 1, Battle Hill Stadium, Fort Wolcalt, Olastor37th Minute - It was Lincoln McKleigh, hero of the McKleighvian national team (yes, his last name is also the name of his native land), who scored. Paolo Jorge Camargo, defensive midfielder and Zenician national team substitute, chipped the ball from the half-line, all the way to the 22 year old GTFC right winger, Conor Lenning. Lenning then made an attempt on goal, heading the ball on-target, but Peeto Gordost goalkeeper Vladimir Polov managed to just tip the ball, making the ball hit the top post. Polov thought that the ball had gone out after he touched it, but little did he know that the ball had bounced off the post and had gone back into the pitch. When Polov had turned around and finally realized that the ball was still in game, Lincoln McKleigh had already kicked the ball into the goal. 1-0 in the 37th minute.
58th Minute - It was Semyon Benisov, midfielder of Peeto Gordost, who fired a long on-target shot from outside the box. Luckily, the ball flew straight into the arms of GTFC goalkeeper Korpelainen, who then took advantage of the situation. He sent the ball flying to a barely onside, yet unmarked Lincoln McKleigh. McKleigh, with nobody but the Peeto Gordost goalkeeper Vladimir Polov blocking his way to the goal, surged up the pitch, and fired the ball with unbelievable force. However, somehow, Polov miraculously got a small touch on the ball, causing the ball to bang off the post. The ball flew all the way to 10 meters behind the box, where, fortunately, Zenician Paolo Jorge Camargo, a GTFC defensive midfielder, was there to semi-volley the ball back into the net. 2-0 in the 58th minute.
89th Minute - Not much happened after the second goal, until the 89th minute, when the third and final goal of the match came. Logan Geis, GTFC's attacking central midfielder, excellently passed the ball to McKleigh. However, McKleigh was surrounded by defenders. The McKleighvian national then produced a mixture of effort, quick reflexes, and creativity. McKleigh faked a shot, dribbled past one of the four defenders surrounding him, faked a dribble past a second defender, only to sneakily pass the ball to GTFC left winger Stuart Meadows, without looking at the latter. Meadows did not fail to capitalize on this opportunity, and fired the ball into the bottom-left corner of the net. 3-0 in the 89th minute.
Guard FC 3 - 4 Bayern Hautbregen | August 26th, Matchday 2, Beachport Bowl, Hemula, Olastor19th Minute - The scoreline of the match was opened in the 19th minute. Gavin Reed was the one who scored. Michael Davids, Bayern's left winger, dribbled past Guard FC midfielder Tyrone Nabil, and followed up with a brilliant, long pass that ended up at the feet of Jorge Simpson. Simpson fired an on-target shot, but Guard FC's goalkeeper, Bennie Ferreira, somehow miraculously managed to touch the ball, causing the ball to instead bounce off the post. However, Gavin Reed, Bayern's star striker, was fortunately there to take the rebound and score. 1-0 in the 19th minute.
33th Minute - In the 33th minute, however, Guard FC equalized. Guard FC's captain and right striker, Boris Shiznikov, was the one that scored. Ben Quinten Espianoza, a Guard FC midfielder, took a shot from outside the box, but was denied a goal by Bayern goalkeeper Paul Allen. However, the ball, after bouncing off Allen's goalkeeper glove, flew high into the air, only to get slammed back into the goal by a perfect semi-volley executed by Shiznikov.
45th Minute - The 44th minute of the game saw the third goal of the match. It was Guard FC who scored again. Omar Christopher Riley, a Guard FC striker, was awarded a free kick after a rather late tackle by Bayern defender Evan Brown on the former. Now, Riley did magnificently chip the ball into the bottom-right corner of the net, but controversy completely shrouded the goal. Some claimed that the referee blew the half-time whistle before the all went into the goal, but others said that the ball went in before the whistle sounded. After 3 minutes of heated debate between Bayern and Guard FC players, the match officials finally concluded that the ball did go into the goal before the half-time whistle, and, to the dismay of the Bayern fans and players, Guard FC were now leading 2-1 at half-time.
59th Minute - Matters were made even worse for a faltering Bayern Hautbregen team, after a third Guard FC goal came in the 59th minute. This time, it was Guard FC central striker Mike Marjama who scored. Shakiri El-Ihrim, Guard FC's right winger, dribbled past Bayern players Michael Davids, Evan Brown, and Jack Rockton, only to chip the ball into the box for Marjama to score. 3-1 for an ecstatic Guard FC side in the 59th minute.
72nd Minute - However, Bayern Hautbregen stole one back in the 72nd minute. It was Lewis Walker, Bayern's right winger, who dribbled past 5 Guard FC players. Walker dribbled past Willem Erin, Jack Chase Donaldson, Aliyy Alam, Joe Xavier Luna, and Guard FC goalkeeper Bennie Ferreira, and scored into an open goal, stunning the entire stadium. 3-2, with Guard FC still in the lead, in the 72nd minute.
84th Minute - And, to the surprise of everyone in the stadium, a Bayern equalizer came in the 84th minute. Gavin Reed, star striker of Bayern Hautbregen, was fouled by Guard FC defender Jack Chase Donaldson. The referee awarded Reed a penalty kick. However, Guard FC goalkeeper Bennie Ferreira blocked the shot, causing it the ball to roll out of play, to the devastation of the Bayern team. However, Reed made it up for the team after heading hit ball home, capitalizing on Bayern winger Lewis Walker's corner kick cross.
89th Minute - And in the 89th minute, so came the coup de grace. It was Jorge Simpson, a Bayern striker, who scored. After a ball clearance from goalkeeper Paul Allen, that landed at the feet of Simpson, Simpson took a long shot all the way from the half-line. The ball majestically flew into the net, past a stunned Bennie Ferreira, to an awestruck stadium. A 17 minute 3 goal comeback. 4-3 for Bayern in the 89th minute.
Grimsby Town FC 6 - 0 Club Pollare | August 26th, Matchday 2, Battle Hill Stadium, Fort Wolcalt, Olastor7th minute - The first goal of the game came in the 7th minute, when Benjamin Zoller, the Club Pollare central-back, fouled Grimsby Town right winger Conor Lenning
16th Minute - The second goal of the game came nine minutes after the first one, with none other than Lincoln McKleigh being once again the scorer. Ruslan Korpelainen, Grimsby Town's goalkeeper and new signing, sent the ball flying from the GTFC box, all the way to the Club Pollare, were Lincoln McKleigh was slyly staying a mere meter in front of defender Ruben Pekkanen as to avoid being offside. McKleigh graciously headed the ball over the head and hands of Club Pollare goalkeeper Peder Kranz, and into the back of the net. 2-0 in the 16th minute.
49th Minute - The third goal of the match came 33 minutes after McKleigh's 16th minute the goal, four minutes after the break, in the 49th minute. This time, it was Conor Lenning, Grimsby Town's right winger, who scored. After Stuart Meadows, Grimsby Town's left winger, was slide-tackled by Club Pollare defender Jens Tanzer just outside the box, the referee awarded a free kick to GTFC. Conor Lenning took it, and magnificently sliced the ball into the bottom-left corner of the goal. 3-0 in the 49th minute.
58th Minute - The fourth goal of the match came only nine minutes after the third one. It was yet again Lincoln McKleigh who scored, picking up a hat trick in the match. Grimsby Town's left winger, Stuart Meadows, took a long shot from outside the box, but, unfortunately for the GTFC player, the ball first made contact with Club Pollare goalkeeper Peder Kranz, and then the post. Luckily, however, Lincoln McKleigh was inside the box to take the rebound and put the ball into the net. 4-0 in the 58th minute.
81st Minute - The fifth goal came in the 81st minute. Lincoln McKleigh, got yet another ball in the net, picking up his fourth goal of the game. This time, McKleigh capitalized on a corner kick cross from GTFC left winger Stuart Meadows, heading the ball into the bottom left-corner of the goal. 91st Minute - The sixth and final goal came 1 minute into second half stoppage time. In the back of the net. 6-0 in the 91st minute.
