Timbermunich Information

Welcome to Timbermunich a land of giant trees, Greats, and beautiful nature surrounds. Timbermunich is still relatively primitive; there are no paved roads, no skyscrapers, and little to no technological advancements. The nation is a nature lovers dream and is covered in a complete forest, except in the Vegetal Region as that has been cleared of all trees in order to help produce food for the entire nation. There are a number of wild creatures that inhabit the forest so please be aware of those if you venture off of any of the trails that are between the villages. The people of Timbermunich are extremely easy going and welcoming of all visitors, so long as they abide by the Timbermunich laws. The nation is ruled by Great Battle, Great One-Arm Willy, and the Elders of the other villages. There are a number of Greats that help enforce all laws and anyone caught breaking any will be removed from Timbermunich instantly by means of the Great Ax, a great powerful and magical tool/weapon that Great Battle wields.

Triathletes will be welcomed into TimberOak Grove, which is the northern most village. The village is just to the south of the Heart of the Grove, which is a sacred place. There is a magical aura surrounding the Heart of the Grove and any mortal (None Timbermunich Great) that enters is instantly divulged of all flesh and left as just a skeleton at or near the point of entry, so please do not attempt to enter this area. The Greats will be monitoring this boarder during the tournament for your safety and the protection of the Heart of the Grove. As for other regions and villages, feel free to visit these as you see fit during your stay here in Timbermunich. If you need travel assistance please inquire with a village member as we do not allow cars of any kind within our boarders. We will be happy to loan out horses, TimberStags, or other forms of travel equipment if you do need to get somewhere, just ask.

Greats: What is a Great you may ask? Well in short they are semi-immortal beings that protect and serve all of Timbermunich. They are the security force that keeps Timbermunich running and they allow no harm to come to the TimberOaks, The Heart of the Grove, or the TimberHeart. They are superior beings that are selected at or just before birth by the Great Battle Ax. Greats are also known as Lumberjacks or just Jacks when competing in sporting events and the two words are interchangeable with respect to our athletes. What follows is a short blurb from our World Cup 69 team and it has a bit more detail too:
The Lumberjacks or Jacks, as they are often called, that make up the Hardwoods’ roster are a brawny bunch plucked from the limbs of Great TimberOaks which stand deep within the Great Timbermunich Forest. These Great TimberOaks are massive trees that make up the central portion of the Great Timbermunich Forest, the trees stand at nearly 424 meters tall with trunks that can reach upwards of 32 meters in diameter. It is said that these Lumberjacks once selected spend their entire life within the Great Timbermunich Forest. To be a Jack in Timbermunich is a great honor and they are now selected by The Great Battle Axe while still in utero. They are tasked with guarding the Great Timbermunich Forest from all harm (natural or otherwise) starting at their birth and continuing to their death, that is if they actually do die as no one has ever witnessed a Jacks death nor has a Jacks body ever been discovered void of life they seem to vanish from existence once they reach an estimated 250 years of forest protection. It is also said that each of the Great TimberOaks has a single Jack to watch along with the shared duty over the rest of the Great Timbermunich Forest. If true this would mean that there are approximately 450 thousand Jacks, there are also nearly 100000 trees (multiple genomes) per living Timbermunichers (everyday folks: 50 million) so there are a great number of trees to watch over.

You may be asking what this has to do with a soccer team, well you see the Jacks get a small senescence in which they are able to leave the Great Timbermunich Forest and they choose to play sports during this abscission time. Much of the lore around the Jacks seems to indicate this is their final farewell before vanishing from the forest. It is unknown if a Jack gets more than one senescence or not, we have seen some Jacks on more than one cycles roster, but since the legends are not written down we don’t know if this is due to the length of ones senescence or if they have more than one. They do seem to stick with the more strength and power sporting events, which we attribute to their physical stature and strength. After all they spend their entire life wielding one or sometimes two Double Bit Great Felling Axe, an axe that no normal human can lift. This doesn’t mean we don’t see them in finesse sports; it’s just more common for them to choose physical sports more during their senescence.


Format

Due to sing-up numbers we have elected to go with six groups (noted in bid) with the top three from each group advancing to the final. So the final will have 18 triathletes in it.

The tournaments group stage will consist of seven consecutive days of Ironman Triathlons. Scoring for the group stage will be on a scale of 10 to 1 where the days group winner will get 10 and the participants that place 10th or lower will receive 1 point (10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1,1,1….). For those participants that are unlucky enough to end a day with a DNF result shall receive zero (0) points for that day. This format will give a maximum of 70 points over the course of the group stage so there should be a lot of room for anyone to win, even if they happen to end a day with a DNF along the way. Groups have been selected using a random order generator based on the pots we set up off of the rankings.

The final stage will be a three day best overall time format. There will be no points for places during the final three days, we will simply take a triathletes total time for each day and add them up. The lowest combined total will be crowned the winner. For anyone receiving a DNF during this stage shall be given the maximum course time of 17:00:00.

Tiebreakers, if needed, will only be used during the group stage and it will be done on total time basis. So any ties in points after the seven group days will be decided on a total time basis. The 17:00:00 time will be used for any DNF results as well.

RP cut-off time will be between 9pm and 11pm EST (1am and 3am GMT), with any change to this window being posted well ahead of time. The first scorination date will be on Thursday August 14th, 2014 with the following schedule there after:

Courses

Ironman (Full)
Swim: 2.4 mile (3.86 km)
Cycling: 112 mile (180.25 km)
Run: 26.2 mile (42.2 km)
Time Limit: Strict 17 hours
There are three routes for each section (Swim, Bike, and Run), which should give us 27 possible route combinations if needed. With this style we hope to offer the triathletes a new scenic route each day utilizing each section coarse at least once along the way.



Swim Courses

All of the swimming will be done in Quellwassermunich Lake, the largest of the few fresh spring water lakes within Timbermunich. The three courses will be the same in respect to distance and finish location but will vary in start location and overall route. The finish locations will all be on the north western edge of the lake and will be set up as follows. Also note that any dangerous or deadly water dwelling creature is being monitored by the Greats while the triathletes are in the water and they should not bother anyone. The creatures that fall into those categories also do not like excessive movement so as long as you’re actively swimming you’ll have nothing to worry about anyway.

S1 – The S1 course will be set up in a teardrop shape with its start and finish zones only being 20 meters apart. The buoys will start out heading south and then veer east for a bit. They will then start a gradual loop that will bring the triathletes back to the left of the original start location (when looking out from shore). The triathletes will keep the buoys on their left side the entire swim.

S2 – The S2 course will be set up in a triangle shape and again the start and finish will only be about 20 meters apart. The triathletes will start this swim heading slightly southwest before making a hard right turn. The will then swim the same distance before making the final right hand turn and heading back to the transition area. All three sections of this triangle shape will be the same distance. The buoys on this course will always be on the right.

S3 – The S3 course will be an almost straight swim where triathletes will start to the east of the finish location. The triathletes will swim at a slight angle to start, as this will allow them to get into deeper water. They will then swim parallel to the shore until they are near the finish area, which at that point they will angle to shore in order to hit the finish. All buoys on this course will be on the triathletes left.

Forest Trail
The cycling section will be on some winding tails that will all head north out of the staging area. They will be on mostly gravel and dirt so plan accordingly when preparing your bikes. There will be Greats throughout the course to ensure the correct trail is followed. We will also have period repair booths along the way just in case a bike breaks down, gets a flat tire, or something else. These booths will also have bike ready water bottles, which will be set up in a way that you can simply grab one while riding past. So be sure to make use of those if needed, also be sure to keep your eyes open for some of our native species along the ride as there are some unique ones out there. Our Greats will be securing all of the trails so predator attacks will not be a factor.

C1 – This ride will head to the west after the initial northern trail leads you away from Quellwassermunich Lake. It then hugs the western boarder of Timbermunich for most of the distance before finally heading due east and into the village of TimberOak Grove where it will end and the transition to running will be. This is a relatively flat course with very little elevation change, the challenge here will be the many curves throughout the route.

C2 – The second possible cycling section will break to the east at the point that C1 goes to the west and head into the outer edge of the Pinophytania Region. This too will be a very winding route as it weaves between, under, over, and through a great number of the trees on the Great Timbermunich Forest and Pinophytania boarder. This route has some hills but nothing that is deemed challenging in terms of ascent and descent, but be mindful of the wind too as it can have some ill mannered affects on riders when going through all the turns. This route will end within TimberOak Grove and transition into one of the running sections.

C3 – The third possible cycling section will continue north, where the other two split outwards. This route will have the most hills as it zigs and zags its way toward TimberOak Grove. There are a number of rolling hills along the way with two of them having a rather difficult climb, but those climbs are accompanied by a relatively easy route down the other side. Although the trail its self is very clean the area that it goes through has some of the densest sections of forest and there are some spots were little to no light from above the canopy makes it to the floor, so if this route is used our villages will attach light touches to your bicycles in order to see the trail along those sections.

All of the running courses will start and end within TimberOak Grove. One will go to the west and return, one will go to the east and return and the third will leave to the east and reenter on from the west. These will be a combination of elevated platform walkways and extremely nice and scenic ground trails. Like the cycling courses they will have water stations set up along each route so if needed you can run right by and grab one on the go.

R1 – This running route will head to the east out of TimberOak Grove and loop around to the north before making a U-turn and heading back to the village on the same path. This path will not be very close to the Heart of the Grove but once it leaves the ground and enters the canopy section you should be able to see portions of it on your left during the out trip and then again on your right on your return trip. The only hills on this route is when entering and exiting the canopy trail section, but know that this is rather steep and rises to the tree canopy quickly. This is more treacherous on the return as it can be a rather sudden drop, there is a warning sign but please watch out for this section of that trail. This route will end just a few meters from were it starts.

R2 – This running route will head to the west our of TimberOak Grove and enters an extremely lush portion of the Timbermunich Forest, so keep your eyes open for rare Golden Woodland Stags (like a Jackalope) and the Orange Orphan (type of bird resembling a cross between an Eagle and Toucan) as they are both said to live in this area. The trail is rather straight with little to no north to south movement and it has a rather gentle rise up into the canopy trail system. The views are exceptional from in the canopy and at the turn around you should be able to see the northern coast of Timbermunich. Even though there aren’t many turns it does end up heading a bit north and is why you should be able to see the northern coast at the turn around point. You will then travel back on the same trail and return to where you started in TimberOak Grove.

R3 – The last option for running routes will start by heading to the east, it will then veer north and up into the canopy trail system only after a few hundred yards. This canopy section has many curves in it and will take you extremely close to the Heart of the Grove, so if you feel any odd sensations please don’t be alarmed. As long as you don’t fall off the canopy trail you have no worry of actually entering the Heart of the Grove and being divulged of all flesh, but if you do happen to fall know our Greats are watching and should catch you before you hit the Heart of the Grove invisible dome (force field type that if passed will render you fleshless). The trail eventually heads east again and then loops under itself to head west. When you hit the loop be prepared to be blinded as the loop actually rises further and will put you briefly above the tree tops before bringing you back down to a shadier canopy trail. The trail heading west is rather straight and will pass over the same section of the Heart of the Grove that you passed before, this time a little higher so if you look to your right you might be able to spot the TimberHearts (this post has some minor information relating to the TimberHeart) clearing. TimberOak Grove would be to your left at this point but you shouldn’t be able to see it form up in the tree tops. It will continue to the west and once it finally turns south your quick descent to the ground will start and before you know it your be back on solid footing. You’ll travel a bit further south before turning east and then entering back into TimberOak Grove for the finish.

Bios/Roster



Timbermunich has three participants entered into the Triathlon World Tour and they will surely be followed closely by all Timbermünchners, especially since they will be competing on home soil for this event. The nation as a whole, with regards to its triathletes, is currently ranked 8th. But we all know that can change rather quickly. Now let’s take a closer look at each one and the equipment they will be utilizing for the triathlon.

First up is Great Battle who is currently 29th on the NTA Rankings, which hopefully after this tournament he can move up a bit further. Great Battle is our main leader and at this point in his life stage is estimated to be nearly 200 years old. He is the very first of all Greats in Timbermunich and he along with fellow competitor, Great One-Arm Willy, helped forge the path that Timbermunich has come down. He currently resides in the Heart Canopy and leads fellow Greats in the protection of all of Timbermunich. Great Battle is currently on his third Senescence, the most by any Great so far, he is also the oldest of all Greats. He has many children all of which were found to contain the same Greatness that he has and they now live within the Heart Canopy as well. Great Battle has proven he has some good athleticism as he has competed in many sports during his Senescences. He finds Triathlons enjoyable as they test his overall endurance rather than just brute strength.

Great One-Arm Willy returning from work
Next we have Great One-Arm Willy who was at one time Great Battles pupil. The two spend many hours together when Willy was growing up and was with Great Battle when he lost his arm. Great One-Arm Willy is seen as second in command throughout Timbermunich and was an integral part of getting the Nation to where it is now. Like Great Battle, Willy has many children and all were found to have the same Greatness. They too live within the Heart Canopy as Greats protecting all of Timbermunich. Great One-Arm Willy has been a big part of the sports teams of Timbermunich during his two Senescences and even though he sometimes struggles in triathlons he still finds them to be good competition as they are truly challenging. He is currently ranked 32nd and hopes to stay relatively near that level if not improving by a few places.

Great Hatchet Hank is our last triathlete and the youngest of the group. He is on his very first Senescence and so far has enjoyed himself playing for the Nations Association Football team. He has also found a small bit of success on in the triathlon world and is ranked 50th. His hope is to simply finish as he continues to work on his endurance. Hank is a great hunter and learned the skill from an Elder, Scharuka, and from his pre-Great love Scharika. He has been living in the Heart Canopy for a good number of years now and currently finds pleasure in spending time with Great Atalanta, who he has grown very fond of. His main task as a Great is to watch over the animals of Timbermunich, which is in addition to the other protectoral duties. This task is somewhat strange considering that he was the greatest hunter in all of Timbermunich prior to moving to the Heart Canopy. As for his triathlon skills; well he is still working on them but does enjoy the swimming more than anything. His hope is to just stay with the pack.

Equipment
For the first time Timbermunich has an official Triathlete Suite. This is a state of the art suite produced by our neighbors, HopNation. We thank them for the production of these suites and think they will help the three triathletes perform at their best.

We will also have new bicycles for this event. They have been custom made, also in HopNation, just for our athlete’s unique riding style. The bike, however, do not have a place for holding their axes so Great Battle might be a little made at that little omission. But nonetheless these are great bikes and should keep our athletes well in the mix of things.

You may use our triathletes in any way you see fit, but know that Greats cannot be killed (we are still unsure if they ever die) or injured. Well they can be injured but heal at an extraordinary rate so can never be knocked from a competition. They are a brawny bunch and prefer events that highlight their strength, but don’t be fooled as they have very good endurance as well.

Arnold Erdmann Stumpf
Arnold is not the greatest triathlete to come out of HopNation, although he is getting better with each competition he enters. Arnold excels at the shorter distances and he is hoping to improve on his last event where he performed well but just under his goal. When watching him compete he does seem like an alright athlete, but put him in the water and he looks like a drowned cat struggling to keep a float. If we had to choose a best attribute for Arnold it would have to be his cycling ability, he really knows how to ride so we'll look for him to make up anything lost in the swim on the bike. Arnold said he is looking forward to this tournament since it will be most like his training, trail work.

In Stumpf's daily life he works as an structural engineer. He has worked on many of the stadiums throughout HopNation for his firm. He is unmarried and lives by himself with his dog Beans. While not working or training he is often found watching sports with his friends.

Jörg Ulrich Halle
Halle is an up can comer who finished well in the prior events leading up to this one hosted by Timbermunich. He has been maintaining his endurance by running everywhere, I mean everywhere. If he has to go to the mall, he runs, to the grocery market, he runs, to his families house in another state within HopNation, well he runs. Although he prefers the shorter distances he is no stranger to the longer sets and should perform well on the trails. If we had to pick a best disipline for him it would be his running, which is where he caught many athletes that were ahead of him after both the swimming and cycling stages in events where he trails at those stages. Expect him to finish near or at the top of his group for this event.

Halle enjoys everything triathlons and when not training he is usually found studying body mechanics. He is currently finishing his undergraduate degree in physical therapy. His family (parents and two brothers) were killed in a plane crash when he was 14 and has lived with his aunt, Sarah, since then. He is smart and focuses on school almost as much as his triathlons.

Warren VonHopton
The veteran, the rock to this team, VonHopton is an excellent triathlete and has proven his age is no match for others he competes with. With his most recent endeavor ending with him standing at the top of the podium he is expected to do well here too. The one thing that gets VonHopton in trouble sometimes is his swimming, something he has been working on but it is still his worst discipline. On the other hand his cycling and running are both top notch. He had the fastest cycling/running split in the final stage of the tournament he finished first in so look for him to try and repeat that performance here as well. We always expect good things from VonHopton.

Warren is one of HopNation's founders, has three children and a wonderful wife. He does not deal with major National decisions anymore, although he is consulted on a good chunk of them. He mostly enjoys spending time with his family and does triathlons to stay in shape and as he put it "keeps me young".

Triathlon World Tour Preview

Why Swibia has a solid chance in this NTA competition

Swibia is in a perfect state for winning a Triathlon competition. Having performed above what could have been expected in the VIII Olympiad, and having trained hard for the IX Olympiad, the triathletes are in a prime condition to compete.

Particularly, eyes will be on Darin Layton, a promising star of the upcoming Olympics. Darin finished 9th in the Men's Triathlon in the last Olympics and hopes to do better this time around. In an exclusive interview with the Swibian Sporting Gazette Darin said “I have been training hard for the next Olympics ever since the last one finished. I am looking forward to putting my training to the test in the Triathlon World Tour where I can hopefully also qualify for future NTA competitions.”

Gavin B. Motherwell, a famous Swibian marathon-runner who retired last year is one of the main coaches for the Swibian Triathlon team. He told us “I am looking forward to the World Tour and I look to Timbermunich to put on a splendid show. The team can test themselves in this competition and then we can work on their flaws before the Olympics. The World Tour can only be beneficial for our athletes.”

Frank Roe has been placed in Group A, Peyton Tweedy is in Group B, Katrina Willows is in Group D and Darin Layton is in Group E. Prospects look good for the Swibian triathletes in their first NTA competition, but one to watch out for will be Warren VonHopton from HopNation.

Today's Stop: Triathlon World Tour, Timbermunich


As you may be aware, or not, it depends, the Triathlon World Tour is just around the corner. It is to start tomorrow in the great state of Timbermunich. 78 triathletes from around the mutliveres will be coming together from 18 nations

The following countries will be represented at the first Triathlon World Tour: Free Swiss States, Patistan, Britonisea, Bzakstan, Estenia, Timbermunich, HopNation, Peruvian Highlands,Ceni, Itanpavia, United States of Devonta, Wolfbenz, Swiia, North Britonisea, Star United States, Jachaelter, Chiata, and The United Regions. All 78, well most of the because some of them have already qualified,will be looking for their passage to the Triathlon World Championship.

The following nations have already had triathletes qualified for the first championship: Seahold (2); Anditia (1); HopNation (3); Rohane Alista (2); Chiata (1); Mizuyuki (1); Wreptzle (1); Star United States (2); Britonisea (3); Schottia (1); Ceni(2); and Timbermunich (2).

The seventy-eight triathlete have bee divided into six groups of 13, who will be facing each other for seven days.

Let's talk about Star United States' entries into this tournament. Khan Milo, Kristfore C'urz, Prince Kibby, Gabriel Star, Percy Sholtis, and Oliver King will be representing our glorious nation at this tournament.

Kristfore C'urz was placed into group A, along with notable players: Great One-Arm Willy and Arnold Erdmann Stumpf. Prince Kibby was drawn into Group B, along with Great Battle, and Johnson Rogers. Khan Milo, the currently champion of Star United States, was played into Group D with star players Guy Majifi and Jorg Ulrich Halle. In Group E, Oliver King and Gabriel Star find themselves with notable player George Jordan. In Group F, Percy Sholtis will have to face all-mighty Zach Ivins, and Tyr Gaejac.

Wolfbenz Triathletes
Marinus Klasson (Aged 29)
Marinus is quite an athletic man, and was one of the top long distance runners in his high school. He isn't particularly fond of nature, and has a very bad fear of spiders or anything resembling them.

Klasson owns a small café in the city of Oberste, with his wife, Angela Klasson. They own a goldfish who they refer to as Kitty. When he isn't working or running, he can be found hanging out with his friends in bars around Oberste.

Elov Brotz (aged 20)
The youngest member of the Wolfbenz Triathalon team, he was scouted and was recommended to sign up for the Triathlon World tour after he won a swimming tournament in a competition between he Universities of Wolfbenz. Elov is quite clumsy and trips over his own feet occasionally. He is quite dedicated, and will become extremely discouraged if he doesn't finish a race.

Elov attends the University of Kolbenz, and is majoring in geography. His girlfriend, Matilda Steensten, goes to the same university. Elov is known to be a quite a jokester, according to close friends and family of Elov, most of them claiming that they have been pranked by Elov once, and some even saying he threw a pie in one of his professor's faces. He enjoys collecting old bottle caps.

Emil Schwartze (aged 26)
Born and raised in the city of Hauge, Emil seems like an average guy at first glance. Average height for a Wolfian, average weight, and has the same brown hair and eyes as most people do in Wolfbenz. He's quite quiet among the other triathletes, and we don't really know what he likes or if he has a spouse. We've been told by his family he's quite a good cycler, though.

Irina Kjellson (aged 28)
The de facto leader of the Wolfbenz triathlon team, Irina has been doing triathlons since he was a teenager. She has the most experience of all those part of the team. When she learned that Wolfbenz was having a triathalon team, she was the very first one to sign up.

When she isn't training, Irina is usually in her local gym or walking her dog Francis. She is currently single, and lives in a the suburbs of Gleisen. She works as a Physical Education teacher in Rittergard Middle School.

Vannesa Dries (aged 23)
Vannesa Dries is a well known model in Wolfbenz, usually appearing in fashion magazines and attending the Wolitz Bay Fashion Show each year, showing off what clothes designers pour their heart and souls in making. She recently has shown interest in partaking in sports, specifically cycling and swimming, as she thinks those sports are the most fun and easiest to do well in. Vannesa despises running, especially when it's sweltering hot. Some think she was acting too impulsively when she signed up, and others are smirking at the fact she may not finish any race during the world tour and laugh at her. It's not going to be a surprise if most people in Wolfbenz are going to watch the Triathlon World Tour because of her.

Vannesa is the girlfriend of Mirko Reutens, a soccer player who plays for Eris FK and the Wolfbenz International Soccer Team. She currently resides in the city of Eris.

Peruvian Highlands Triathletes

Marvolo Huddlestone (Age 36)
Marvolo is a little old to be competing in a triathlon, especially as he has never actually competed in one before. He saw an advertisement for this competition on the television one night, and he decided to sign up for it on the spur of the moment. Since Peruvian Highlands' best triathletes are away competing in the Olympics, Marvolo was allowed to join the team for this event. He is not expected to do well.

Iceman Rodriguez (Age 24)
Iceman Rodriguez is the best hope of the nation for a strong showing here at the Triathlon World Tour. He just barely missed out on qualifying for the Olympics, and he is eager to show that his performance at the Olympic trials was an aberration. Iceman is strong in all three disciplines, but he is best at cycling as he does not own a car and thus must bike 27 miles to and from work each day.

Dustin Grant (Age 23)
Next to Iceman Rodriguez, Dustin Grant is the best Peruvian Highlandsian triathlete at the Triathlon World Tour. When he is not working at his job in the cat food factory, Dustin runs marathons for fun in order to stay away from his wife, who for some reason believes Dustin is a hamster.

Melanie Orton (Age 21)
Melanie is a raven-haired beauty whose personality does not match her looks. She is ultra-competitive, and throws mega-tantrums when she doesn't win. She was once accused of hiring an ex-military sniper to murder one of her competitors after she finished fourth overall, but avoided a trial when all of the witnesses for the prosecution mysteriously committed suicide.

Domingo Clark (Age Unknown)
All we know about Mr. Clark is that "Domingo Clark" is not his real name, and that he works for the Peruvian Highlands government as a "phone operator consultant".

Diego Chavez (Age 22)
Diego Chavez just finished his studies at the prestigious Ixqa University, where he was learning how to become a nuclear physicist. He will be continuing on in grad school somewhere, but he doesn't know exactly where yet. He hopes that by competing in a triathlon, he will be able to make up his mind. The only sport he has ever competed in before was a rousing game of "Find the Mitten" back in second grade.

Timbermunich Trail Triathlon Groups and Other Bits

So it seems we are headed to the land of trees for our next set of Triathlon challenges. Even though the nation we are heading to is in our region within the multiverse and we’ve helped provide them with new uniforms and custom state of the art bicycles, we really know little about them. I mean we think we know something about them, but they are rather primitive after all. They have some technology but living in and amongst the trees, really? They have these Greats that seem to have extraordinary strength and protect the nation from all types of disasters, which is great and all but who are they and what prestige do they have to host an event like this. I’m not certain they have any, at least not enough to hold one of the last events of the year for the NTA. Perhaps they will prove me wrong and they will do a fine job of bringing us all together and putting on a good show. For now I remain a skeptic and will wait to pass final judgment once the tournament is further along. Now lets look at our three fellows competing in the tournament.

We have, like all of the prior events, three individuals entered and they are: Arnold Erdmann Stumpf , Jörg Ulrich Halle, and Warren VonHopton. I expect them to all perform well during the group stage despite the somewhat odd trails they will be traversing. I know from speaking with VonHopton, the teams veteran, that they have all been working together to improve their overall times for the three stages of the Ironman distance. We’ll just have to see if all the work he spoke of will pay off when they get started later today. The three have been placed into Group A, Group D, and Group C respectively. Let’s take a look at Group A.

Group A – Arnold Erdmann Stumpf’s group –
Here we find names like Great One-Arm Willy from the host Nation, Willy (as I’ve seen him called) has been improving over the last few tournaments so I expect him to continue during this event on home soil. Francois Dubondeau a new comer to the Chiata triathlete list should be able to get right into the mix of things, especially since Chiata usually has some decent participants. Kristfore C’urz from, one of our friends, Star United States is back and looking to join fellow country men Carson Star and Ayston Pase and qualify for the NTA Championships. After that we have a bunch of newcomers, like: Frank Roe from Swibia, Elov Brotz from Wolfbenz and is their youngest triathlete, and Emil Schwartze also from Wolfbenz. I’m sure some of these newcomers have high hopes but in the end I still see Stumpf finishing in the top spot of this group and making into the final.

Group D – Jörg Ulrich Halle’s group –
No one in this group is jumping off the page at me, well except maybe Khan Milo from Star United States and Guy Majifi from Britonisea. Though Guy has performed much better than Khan in the past we can’t count either one of them out of this group. Other than them it looks like we have newbies coming in, well at least in respect to NTA events that is as I believe that a few of them have some other competitive races under their belts. A couple to note would be Iceman Rodriquez and Domingo Clark both from Peruvian Highlands. I mean Iceman just sounds like he is going to kill somebody, maybe not literally but on the course. Then Domingo Clark, if that’s what we are to call him or maybe something else since it seems the government of Peruvian Highlands is hiding something about him could also be a good triathlete but we don’t know yet. Despite these mentioned individuals I still see Halle advancing to the final.

Group C – Warren VonHopton’s group –
I’m not seeing anyone in this group that will surpass VonHopton on the course, not even Carlos Chultz from Chiata who we’ve seen in the past. I mean VonHopton is the highest ranked runner coming in and he hopes to keep it that way. Some of the others might challenge him on a few of the group days but in the end he will advance to the final and hopefully once again stand atop the podium and be crowned champion of this event. This group also has a Great Hatchet Hank from the host nation in it to, perhaps he will be one to challenge VonHopton, or maybe Irina Kjellsson from Wolfbenz who is the “de facto” leader of that team. Who ever it might be to challenge him from this group will likely be covered in more dust from the trails than anything.

I don’t have much else on this tournament right now and I will be splitting some of my writing time between this event and our National Football team as they head into the Cup of Harmony where they look to continue their strong play. So look for articles in both sections in the next few days.

Biographies:
Boris Chneya:

Boris Chneya is a 19 year old Bzakstani. He is largely considered to be the future of Bzakstani triathlons. Chneya was born in the agricultural district of Ilitva to farmers. He was raised on a large farm and was very fit from a early age, due to the physical labour he did. As there was a lack of machinery on the farm, he had to run to various places to give messages. At the age of 8, he was hired by various people to deliver messages as the district had not received telephone lines. He often had to run up to 30 miles a day. Due to the rural nature of the district, he often had to swim when the rivers flooded or the bridges broke. From the age of 3, he and his 6 brothers and sisters would swim in the stream in the farm. Boris and his siblings were given a bicycle by one of their uncles. He often, when the others weren't using it, utilised the bike to deliver the messages.

His substantial talent was noticed when he was 12. Boris's PE teacher, Andrei Tzaknok, saw how quick he was at running and began to privately tutor Boris for triathlons. Boris rejected doing long distance running, as he felt his endurance would be better suited to either marathons or triathlons. He settled on doing triathlons and began training for the Bzakstani Junior Iron Man Triathlon. By the age of 15, he felt he was ready to enter this competition and he duly won. He was, and still is, the youngest winner of this competition. Because of this, he got the attention of the NABA (National Association of Bzakstani Athletics). They put him in training for the Triathlon World Tour. He recently met his team mates who began giving him tips on how to achieve the best results. Boris is confident and unperturbed about the sheer size of this tournament.

His major attributes are his endurance, his running and his bravery. However, his weakness is cycling. Boris has been training almost exclusively of cycling for the past four months. Improvements have been seen, but it is still the weakest part of his game. Bzakstani media predict a good finish for him, but better things in the future. This is his first major international competition.



Fredrik Klasinski:

Fredrik Klasinski is widely considered to the star of the Bzakstani triathlon team. Aged 27, he is in the prime of his long career. Born in the large, central district of Ozalourouisnk to a wealthy merchant family, he began his sporting career at the age of 5. Fredrik began swimming competitively and won many awards. However, he fell in love with running after he found out his grandfather was a champion runner. Whilst keeping up swimming, he began running. He dropped out of school at 16 and went to a specialist sports academy. His teacher gave him a ultimatum; he could keep running or keep swimming but not both. Klasinski defied him by taking up the triathlon.

He entered the Bzakstani Junior Iron Man Triathlon at the age of 16 and won it. Fredrik began training extremely hard and entered the Bzakstani Iron Man Triathlon at the age of 17. The minimum age for entering is 21, but Fredrik was allowed to enter after proving that he was capable of holding his own in a series of tests. He finished third, behind Ivan Zlavak and retired legendary triathlete Matvey Yussualtov. Because of this performance, he was signed up to train with Zlavak and Yussualtov. After finishing in 1st several times and Yussualtov's retirement, he is now considered to be one, if not the best triathlete in Bzakstan. Due to his families wealth, he could afford to send himself off to specialist training camps abroad. During the Bzakstani summer, Fredrik tends to be off in a foreign land, training.

Fredrik is very strong in running, swimming and cycling. The one thing he struggles with is endurance which he is somewhat lacking. Yet, the endurance could have been solved by a two month period of intensive training in the countryside with the Bzakstani Armed Forces. Time will tell. Bzakstani media is predicting a very strong finish for him, potentially in the top ten.



Gregory Svloya:

Gregory is widely considered in Bzakstan to be a risk for this competition. Despite his phenomenal talent, his lack of focus, incessant partying and constant controversy has tarnished his career. Born in a flat in the capital city of Jokonov to a single mum, he didn't have much space to run about. He did, however, have a bicycle which he went everywhere on. At school, he used to just run and run around the field. This caught the attention of the head teacher who said that he should try the 5,000 meters. Gregory tried the 5,000 meters, yet he wanted to do something with his bike. The teacher suggested triathlon to him. He tried it, and loved it. As he had nothing else on, he trained constantly. However, he was sent to jail for one year for a fight in a nightclub. His promising career appeared to be over. But, whilst in prison, he trained more. When he got out, Gregory was scrutinised ruthlessly by the media, but silenced them by winning the NTC (National Triathlon Competition).

More controversy greeted him when he had a well publicised fiery affair with Olya Pochynek, a lingerie model. Fortunately, he calmed down the media fire by marrying Olya. He came third in the Bzakstani Iron Man Triathlon last year and looked set for a easy ride to the Triathlon World Tour. However, as it always does for Gregory, controversy found him after he had an affair with Olya's sister, Anastasiya. Olya divorced him and he married Anastasiya just three months ago. He has been told to focus on this competition and ignore his colourful personal life.

His best attributes are running and cycling. However, he didn't learn to swim until he was 14 and he does tend to struggle in the water. Gregory fortunately makes up for this in the running and cycling legs. Unfortunately, the Bzakstani media has already written him off as a potential contender. In fact, 10,000 people signed a petition to get him off the team. Gregory definitely feels he has something to prove.



Ivan Zlavak:

Ivan Zlavak in the veteran of the team. Aged 38, he is nearing the end of his long and prestigious career. Coming from a family of famous triathletes, there was no doubt in his mind about the career path he wanted to go down. His father, the great Wielisław Zlavak, began training him when Ivan was five. The family home was located on grounds of ten acres, with a swimming pool and a running track. Ivan showed staggering potential from a early age and threatened to eclipse his father.

Wielisław didn't let his son enter the Bzakstani Junior Iron Man Triathlon as he felt it was a competition for children. Ivan's father was a big critic of the number of Bzakstani triathlons. Because of this, he took his son abroad and entered him in every triathlon he could find. He won them all, announcing him on the world stage. When Ivan was young, the minimum age for entering the Bzakstani Iron Man Triathlon was 18, so he entered it and beat the best Bzakstani triathlete at the time, Matvey Yussualtov. He was signed up for the national team and had a great rivalry with Yussualtov until his retirement four years ago. He is highly regarded by the Bzakstani media and feels that this event would be a good swansong to his career.

Much like his father, Ivan's main attributes are his running ability, his great swimming and his work ethic. However, with his age, his endurance has decreased. In a interview, Ivan said he may retire professionally when he reaches 40, so this competition would be the last main event in his illustrious career. The media expect him to finish strong, with his good all round ability.



Coaching Staff:
Matvey Yussualtov:
Matvey Yussualtov is the Bzakstani National Triathlon Team's head coach. A legendary figure in the Bzakstani triathlon world, he was the number one triathlete in Bzakstan for 15 years famous for his rivalry with Ivan Zlavak, the current veteran on the team. When he retired at 37, he began training to be a coach under the watchful eye of the head coach at the time, Świętopełk Ujednoznacznienie. He got all the necessary qualifications by the time he was 40. When Ujednoznacznienie didn't look like retiring or being sacked, Matvey decided that he needed to go abroad to get coaching experience.

After getting a coaching job abroad, Matvey gained attention amongst the international community for his tough, unorthodox methods. He stayed abroad, coaching, for five years. However, Świętopełk Ujednoznacznienie announced his intention to retire to a lesser role in Bzakstani athletics and, as a consequence, Matvey was head hunted to become the head coach. His first decision was to make Ujednoznacznienie the assistant coach. He demands respect amongst his students and has transformed many athletes.


Świętopełk Ujednoznacznienie:
Świętopełk Ujednoznacznienie is the current assistant coach. Famed for his mood swings and aggressive methods, he is known for being difficult to work for. A ten time Bzakstani Iron Man Triathlon winner, he destroyed all the competition. He was unbeaten for five straight years. After retiring at the age of 43, he became the coach of the Bzakstani Triathlon team, a position he retained for twenty straight years. After his 63rd birthday, he decided to take a lesser role in athletics. His aggressive approach has caused controversy, especially when he punched a triathlete after he gained a couple of pounds. This may be his last major event as a coach.


Equipment :
The official Bzakstani Tri-Suits were designed by Bzakstani company Favali. They feature ground breaking breathable fabric and excellent manoeuvrability. As well as being waterproof, they've been fitted with Thermoflex© technology which is able to warm the wearer when they are cold and cool down the wearer when they are hot. This excellent suit is a revolution in triathlon technology.

The official Bzakstani Triathlon Bicycles were also designed by Favali. The sturdy but quick off-road design will enable Bzakstan's triathletes to fly across Timbermunich's difficult forest tracks. Featuring Duoplex suspension and seamless gear shifts, the bike, known as the Favali X100, is capable of such speed, stability and sturdiness that it's almost unbelievable. This bicycle will, according to the manufacturers, be capable of putting Bzakstan's triathletes in contention.

Bzakstani Triathletes Falter in World Tour


The much hyped Bzakstani triathletes participating in the Triathlon World tour disappointed yesterday, writes lead sports writer Irinei Yhaaskakov. Despite it only being the first day of the week long competition, the signs do not look promising for Bzakstan. In spite of the phenomenal young talent contained in the team, the veteran, Ivan Zlavak, had to carry the others. Zlavak, 39 in September, finished an admirable 23rd with a time of 11 hours, 59 minutes and 55 seconds. Yet, Zlavak looked exhausted and Coach Yussualtov will be left wondering if he can repeat the performance tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the rest of the team were much further down the order, with Gregory Svloya, the controversial 23 year old, finishing in a dismaying 39th. Fredrik Klasinski wasn't far behind him, 8 minutes to be exact, as the talisman finished in 41st position. Most regrettable is the finishing position of the youngster, Boris Chneya, who finished in a disheartening 63rd out of 78 competitors. His time of 14 hours, 24 minutes and 1 second is over 2 hours slower than Zlavak, who is twice his age.

Fredrik Klasinski has expressed regret at what he calls a 'substandard performance'. Chneya could not be reached for comment but assistant coach, Świętopełk Ujednoznacznienie, said the following.

Boris feels very disappointed about what he achieved during that stage. He...he knows he needs to achieve better things, run faster, swim faster, cycle faster. At his age, much like Fredrik and Gregory, he, they should not be being beaten by Ivan. Despite him


In their groups, Ivan has 5 points, putting him in 6th in Group B and, in accordance with his time, 23rd overall. Similarly, Gregory is also 6th in Group E with 5 points. This, as well as his time, puts him in 39th out of 78. Fredrik is right behind Gregory, he is in 7th in Group E, giving him 4 points. Thus, he is in 41st overall. And last, and most definitely least, is Boris who has 1 point which puts him joint last in Group F. This poor result puts him in 63rd.

Of course, there is still hope for Bzakstan's athletes. Hopefully, Matvey Yussualtov and Świętopełk Ujednoznacznienie can drum up motivation amongst the presumably upset and disheartened athletes. Ivan will need to recuperate which will easy for him as Yussualtov has brought along a world class massage and recuperation team. Fredrik will need more confidence drummed into him. Ujednoznacznienie is a fantastic motivational speaker which could perhaps lift Fredrik. Gregory needs to retain focus and have a really good day today. Boris will also need his confidence rebuilding, but he will also need to focus.

The route for day 2 of the Triathlon world tour is a killer. For the swimming section, the triathletes will need to navigate their way around the massive Quellwassermunich Lake. The course will be set up in a teardrop shape, with the finish and start lines only 20 meters apart. Then, they will go into the cycling section. They will cycle into the Pinophytania Region. It is a very windy route , yet there is no or very little hills. Finally, they'll go into the running section. This running route will head to the east out of TimberOak Grove and loop around to the north before making a U-turn and heading back to the village on the same path. The path is quite steep, so consequently it is very steep and dangerous on the return. Let's hope that Bzakstan's athletes will perform better than they did yesterday.

Triathletes Unprepared

Swibian athletes have performed poorly on the first day of the Triathlon World Tour

Frank Roe, in Group A, finished 12th in his group and 61st overall with a time of 14:23:12.23. Peyton Tweedy, in Group B, finished 9th in her group and 40th overall with a time of 13:31:07.95. Katrina Willows, in Group D, finished 9th in her group and 60th overall with a time of 14:19:55.36. Finally, Darin Layton, in Group E, finished 9th in his group and 49th overall with a time of 13:54:50.54.

In comparison, the leading athlete, Jörg Ulrich Halle of HopNation finished in a time of 8:11:33.63, a whole minute before the next person to finish, Arnold Erdmann Stumpf, also of HopNation. Of the three we said to look out for in the last issue, Warren VonHopton of HopNation finished 22nd with a time of 11:59:48.14. Warren VonHopton is currently ranked 2nd internationally, and will be looking to further his progress in the competition.

Gavin B. Motherwell, coach and spokesperson for the Swibian triathlon team had this to say: “I don't believe that due to a poor performance on the first day, Swibian hopes in this competition are lost. Everyone has bad days, most of all athletes. By focusing on their weaknesses, the team can renew their vigour and determination for the second day of events.”

We also managed to catch Peyton Tweedy, the top performing Swibian athlete from yesterday's events, for a statement. “We hadn't realised how difficult the course would be or what kind of form and preparation the other athletes were in. We weren't the only ones that faltered. Hopefully we will be able to pull it together for tomorrow's events.”

Tomorrow's events include the S1, C2 and R1 sections of the course. The S1 section will have the athletes swim in a teardrop shape and finish 20m from where they started. This should not be particularly challenging. The C2 section can be very windy and athletes should watch out for fallen trees or other obstacles. The R1 section was run on Day One, but has proven to be particularly difficult. The elevated trails and canopies are tough to navigate and the sharp climb/drop at the start/end of the canopy section can be brutal.
A sporting nation that enters lots of things and never does very well. A bit like Ireland, or Israel.

Triathlon World Tour Day 1 Recap

It was a mixed showing by Peruvian Highlands Triathletes in Timbermunich yesterday on day 1 of the Triathlon World Tour. Both Melanie Orton and Dustin Grant performed admirably, as they both finished third in their respective groups, and currently sit at 9th and 12th overall, respectively. They are just about 3 hours behind the current leader, Jörg Ulrich Halle of HopNation, but with 6 more days of racing to go, that deficit can be narrowed.

However, the rest of our triathletes did not match the showing of Ms. Orton and Mr. Grant. Domingo Clark was the next Peruvian Highlander to cross the line, but he did not do so until almost 14 hours had passed, putting him in 45th place overall. This was actually somewhat of a better performance than we were expecting, as we know absolutely nothing about him except that he works for our government in some capacity. To this point, we can reasonably conclude that he has either competed in triathlons before, or he just got extremely lucky yesterday and we can be prepared for a multitude of DNFs from him. Like the rest of the competitors, we will just have to wait and see.

Diego Chavez was next across the line, 5 spots behind "Mr. Clark", a great showing for him in his first-ever triathlon. We look forward to following his progress over the rest of the races.

Marvolo Huddlestone came across in 64th place with a time of just under 14 and a half hours, which was completely expected, as he is getting older,this was his first triathlon, and he is not in the best of shape.

The only athlete not mentioned yet is our very own Iceman Rodriguez, who just missed the cut for the Olympic team and was expected to be our best triathlete here at the World Tour. Unfortunately, Rodriguez crashed in the cycling portion of the race when he fell spectacularly going down a descent, which is very surprising considering that the cycling downhills on the C3 course were described as "relatively easy", and was unable to finish the course. The team doctors have not released any information about his injury (injuries?), but at this point we think he will continue racing, as he is too much of a competitor to withdraw without life-threatening injuries.

Timbermunich Trail Triathlon Day 1

Well, that was a decent day. At least some would say so as we had two group winners out of our three triathletes, however we had some troubles in Group C. Then looking over the overall sheet we also had the two fastest times out of everyone else, but again we had one struggle and finished just outside of the to twenty. I feel this bodes well for our nation going forward and it starts us out on the right track to have someone advance to the final stage. Sure, we’d like to have all three make it out but after reviewing the results that might be a mountainous task. Lets have a look at the three groups we are in.

First up is Group A where we have Arnold Erdmann Stumpf. Stumpf made easy work of the group finishing nearly two hours faster than anyone else in the group. I can see that his training has done him some good between this event and the last. He looks more comfortable in the water and actually gained a sizable lead during that segment of the Ironman. The ride was okay and he maintained his distance ahead of everyone else. Stumpf would not let up though even though he could tell he had a good lead on everyone. He knew that some of the others were trying desperately to catch him, like Kristfore C’urz and Great One-Arm Willy who have both given good performances in the past. The group also had a slew of newcomers that he didn’t know much about and wanted to show them he was here to win. It wasn’t until the running turn around that he was able to see his closest group follower and it was a new face to him. It was Elov Brotz, who at that point looked surprisingly energized despite the distance he was trailing Stumpf. Once Arnold saw the distance between him and Elov you could see him almost switch into a coasting run. He new that no one from his group was going to catch him and all he needed in the group stage was points not time. Hopefully he saved enough energy for the remaining days as this will be a long competition.

Next up we have Warren VonHopton in Group C. This was our lone struggler on the day, which was a bit of a surprise to me. I figured that VonHopton would have no trouble with his group but that was not the case. He looked good in the water too and was right with Irina Kjellsson and Louiza Kravža on the transition. But this is where is closeness to Kjellsson would seem to slip. Although the top half of this group would stay in a nice pack through out the entire course you could see they weren’t going to give into VonHopton just because of his reputation. During the run section Kjellsson broke away from the main pack in hopes to get those first ten points. There were a few that stayed with that break-a-way but VonHopton wasn’t with them. He slowly slid back where he and Kravža would finish within 8 seconds of each other but well off the pace of the rest of Group C. Perhaps Warren was just saving some energy for the rest of the competition days, we’ll have to see how he bounces back.

Our last member was in Group D and he, like Stumpf, finished well ahead of everyone else in his group. Jörg Ulrich Halle would actually post the best time out of everyone on this first day, he was almost a compete hour ahead of the next competitor and teammate Stumpf. He was nearly two full hours head of the second competitor in his group who was the one person I really thought would be close with Halle the entire time and that was Guy Majifi. The two battled back and fourth in the water, they stayed close on their bikes, but on the run…Halle blazed away from the rest of the pack and claimed those valuable ten points for day one. I’m really, really hoping he didn’t burn to much energy on day one. There is a lot left here and he needs to be mindful of the other triathletes in his group, and just remember that points matter here not time.

Next up we are going to see them on the S1-C2-R1 combination. So we’ll get our first look at the teardrop swim route as well as the cycling route that enters a portion of the Pinophytania Region. The running section will be the same so I’d expect Halle to perform well on the last section again. I’m still hopeful that we will advance all three members of our team, but it’s early and anything can happen. They three just need to make sure that they conserve some energy each day so they are ready for what is to come next.

Good day everyone and welcome to Timbermunich, I am Gertrude your athlete host for your stay here. I apologize for the late introduction but just wanted to make sure you have all settled into your village quarters and if you have any questions relating to your stay here, I would be glad to help answer them in the best capacity that I can. I am also Great Battles youngest great great granddaughter and you may notice that I do not have a Great title. I do hold the same powers as my great great grandfather as passed onto me by my father and to the rest of my siblings, but due to me being only 17 I have yet to gain that title and I have been chosen to help any visitors to our “Great” Nation. So please if you need anything don’t hesitate to ask.

I’d also like to congratulate all of you on a fine first day. I realize that some of you may not have performed as well as you would have hoped but rest assured that there are many days of competition left, so keep at it and don’t give up. There are also a few of you that performed admirably and deserve some praise. But like those that need some hope and encouragement I give you some advice on staying strong while still conserving your selves for future days events. Overall you have all done a wonderful job thus far so keep up the good work and enjoy your time in Timbermunich.

Going forward I hope to address you all each day to go over the course layout and then hopefully answer any questions you may have.

Matchday 1 Review

During day one of the Triathlon World Tour, being newcomers to triathlon competition, we at the Kolbenz Times Sports Office were genuinely surprised by many of the events occurring that day.
Let's review the performances of our triathletes, shall we?
Marinius Klasson
Our mild mannered coffee shop owner has done quite well in his first match, albeit not the best, but he got the job done. Placing 37th overall and now in the middle of Group F, and is preforming quite average now. There isn't much to say about him right now, so we'll wait to elaborate on him a bit later.
Elov Brotz
The young starlet known as Elov Brotz has had the best showing so far of the Wolfbenz triathlon team, placing eighth overall and second in Group A, behind Arnold Erdmann Stumpf of HopNation. Brotz so far is are best bet to at least make it to the finals representing Wolfbenz. All he needs to do now is to is stay consistent and make Wolfbenz proud.
Emil Schwartze
The average joe of the Wolfbenz triathlon team has had a poor showing so far, placing 72nd in the first race and currently dead last in Group A, as opposed to his teammate Elov Brotz, who we just mentioned was second in the group, in case you forgot. Emil's most likely going to get a good workout from Irina tonight.
Irina Kjellson
Speaking of Irina, she has had the second best performance today from our team, and has told the press that she's made the team perform grueling workouts before the first race, and it's shown. She's currently leading her group, and looks like she's going to stay strong for the whole World Tour, but we're still unsure if she'll make it to the finals.
Vanessa Dries
To be perfectly honest, Vanessa Dries has shocked most of us by actually finishing a race, even beating Emil and placing 46th. Even some of our employees lost their paycheck for the month just by betting that she wouldn't finish. She tripped over a few branches during the running section, and even claimed that she didn't win because she saw a huge spider on the ground. We've also heard that Elov scared her during the running section as well, but that isn't really a surprise. I'm guessing she'll be full of entertainment during the World Tour.

"So, on day three of the competition, Bzakstan's triathletes continued to disappoint. Let's start our analysis with the rock that is Ivan Zlavak."
"Well, it was a very disheartening day for the old veteran. After his phenomenal performance yesterday, we expected so much more than a DNF."
"Yes, Ivan had a colossal fall on the cycling stage brought on by the wind. He went over a small jump and the wind blew him so much, that he lost control and hit a tree. His bike's front wheel was wrecked."
"Yes, and that meant he couldn't finish. So, that gave him no points, putting him joint tenth in his group with five points."
"But, more positively, Fredrik Klasinski performed much better. After a amazing swim, a good cycle and a fantastic run, he finished fourth in his group, giving him 7 points."
"This much better day for the talisman put him third in his group with 11 points compared to the leader's, George Jordan, twenty."
"Unfortunately, it was a poor day for Gregory Svloya."
"Yes indeed, he had a dreadful swim, putting him last. And he had to work really hard to get into the disappointing position of ninth."

Well that was much better, well we really couldn’t do much better than day one with the exception of one of our Triathletes. So I guess it wasn’t much better, but rather just better. We had two firsts and a second place finish on day two of the TWT held in Timbermunich. These first two days have set a good standard for our triathletes as well as putting them into good position for extending their time in Timbermunich and advancing to the finals. I just hope we don’t wear ourselves out by going to hard in the early stages of the group events. We’ve also seen some ups and downs from a few of the other, supposed top teams that are here. There have been some triathletes that finished, who is in VonHopton’s group, near the top of each group on day one who stumbled to the middle or even in the case of Irina Kjellsson going from a first place finish to not even finishing, but in the defense of Kjellsson and not finishing. Well it was out of his control as a wind gust pushed him right into a tree, causing some major damage to his bike. Hopefully he can get things fixed and we’ll see better things out of him going forward. We always like to see newcomers to the NTA events do well and I for one, especially since I’m recovering from that horrific car accident, don’t want to see anyone hurt or involved in a crash of any sorts. Another surprise was in Group F where Tyr Gaejac did the same thing as Kjellsson and went from a first place finish and receiving 10 points to a tenth place finish and receiving just 1 point. So clearly even if there may have been a few accidents we are starting to get a feeling that the courses here in Timbermunich are extremely tough. My real only hope is that our three triathletes representing HopNation continue to perform well and make the finals. I’m not even really concerned that they win this tournament, so long as they just make it out of the group stage. Because right now the middle of each group looks to be highly contended as to who might make it up to the top, even with a few groups showing a couple triathletes with perfect point values thus far it’s a long way from day 7 and the final group event. I suspect that anything might and will ultimately happen along the way.

As for our guys and how they did, well I already mentioned that we again had two first places in terms of group standings we also had an improvement resulting in a second place finish. So out of thirty maximum points we could have received on day two we are walking away with 29 of the max 30, not too shabby. Today we had Stumpf with the overall fastest time, which was 46 some odd minutes faster than the closest next finisher. That finisher was a surprise finish from Marinius Klasson who edged out our very own Hall in the latter half of the running section. Halle finished with a nice time just under the ten hour mark and in third place overall for day two. Last but not least from our Nation was VonHopton who finished in a disappointing 22nd on day one. This time he climbed back up and finished in the top ten for the day. I fully expect the three to continue swimming, cycling, and running well but hope they have taken some of the advice's given to them to heart so they can make it through all seven of the group stage days.

One other thing that surprised me before the second day’s event was a welcome and sort of congratulations from our host Nation and the Great Great Granddaughter of the infamous Great Battle of Timbermunich. I mean it was a nice gesture, but how is a 17 year old supposed to answer questions that we might have about Timbermunich or the events. Sure maybe she has been given a plethora of information, but come one she is extremely young to be given such a monumental task of being our liaison. At this point I personally don’t have any questions for her, but maybe I’ll come up with some over the next few days. After all she is kind of hot…better not say that too loud as Great Battle could be roaming around nearby. Let me also just mention that even though we don’t know everything going on in Timbermunich we/I know a bit more than most since I helped them get in contact with our bicycle manufacture to produce their state of the art bikes they are riding in this tournament, o and put them in touch with the Tri-Suite manufacture for their clothes too. I just wish I could see more of the stunning nation as it does seem to have some beautiful landscape, maybe that’s it, I’ll ask her to show me around the nation and see if she’ll take me or if she sets me up with a village guide or something. I’ll see if Jörg wants to come with since he is closer to the girls age….

Enough of that already, I’ll see if I can dig up some questions for our host but until then, Brew On! Brew Well Hoptonians!

Day Two Over and Day Three Just Ahead


Hello again participants and visiting Nations. I hope that the last couple of days have found you all well. I felt good after getting an official chance to welcome everyone here yesterday. I’m also excited that the competition has been rather good and fun to watch so far. I for one don’t know much about the Triathlon well other than you swim then ride a bike and finally run for a good period of time. This Ironman thing seems extremely tough on one’s body and seeing the competitors come across that finish line with such relief on their faces to finally be done with the days event is something else. I was saddened today to learn that there was a crash on the course today caused by the wind. We really need to put up some signs to better warn people that the wind can be dangerous when going around all the curves as the course goes around and even through some of the trees.

I’d also like to point out, even though you all probably know this already, that we are going mass starts for the events. Even though you are all separated into groups for qualification purposes, everyone is on the course at the same time with one big group start. Which if you ask me is super fun to watch as the cannon goes off signaling the race to start. I mean seeing all the competitors clumped together as they run into the water to start swimming is exciting. The chaos, the positioning going on, and all that water flying up in the air is so cool. I’ve never seen anything like it before day one of this tournament, but maybe because I’ve not been allowed to travel outside of Timbermunich yet.

I sure hope you all are having a good time here so far and please let me know if you have any questions along the way. If I can’t directly answer them I’ll be sure to find out for you. I also do not give tours of our wonderful “Great” Nation, but will find someone to show you around if you would like Mr. Griffinsmith.

Mystery at the World Tour

The following is a series of telephone conversations between Domingo Clark, a Peruvian Highlander triathlete here at the World Tour, and the head of the Peruvian Highlands Triathlon Organization (PHTO), Rodrigo Heffer. The Special Investigative News Team has been investigating Domingo Clark for several months now, and received permission from the Peruvian Highlands government to bug his telephone in his hotel room here in Timbermunich. This following conversation took place yesterday, about two hours after Clark crossed the line in the second race of the World Tour. (Language has been censored in accordance with the media laws of Peruvian Highlands.)

*phone rings*

Clark: Hello?

Heffer: What the f*** are you doing, Clark!? I gave you a very specific f****** mission to carry out, and you agreed to f****** do it! Why the f*** has it not happened yet!? Hold on, is this line f******* line secure? It's not, is it? F*** you, Clark! If you don't get this f****** job done, I will personally see to it it that you are retired from the services, or my name is not Rodrigo Heffer! Oh, f*** me!

*phone hangs up*

Two minutes later

*phone rings*

Clark: Hello?

Heffer: Look Clark, I like you. You know that. Its just I have a lot riding on this, you know? If this goes down the way it should, I get to retire comfortably, live well, run for office...Oh s***! Is this the same number I called earlier?

Clark: Yes sir.

Heffer: F***!

*phone hangs up*

Immediately after that last phone call, Clark hurriedly left the hotel and started walking quickly to the north. When he noticed our news van following him, he ducked into an alley and as we were unable to follow him, that is where we lost track of him. However, Clark returned to the hotel about an hour later, and promptly made the following phone call:

Heffer: This had better be Clark on the line, or I am going to get very f****** angry!

Clark: Romeo charlatan bingo noise, sir.

Heffer: Good man, good man! Next target: Happy wino twister out.

Clark: Yes sir. Goodbye.

Heffer: One last thing, Clark... get a f****** encrypted phone! It's not that f****** difficult!

*phone hangs up*

These conversations have resulted in a multitude of questions, some of which we hope to have answered by our next issue tomorrow. We at the Special Investigations Team thank you for reading our work, and we assure you that more information on this developing issue will be forthcoming.

Matchday 2 Review

Today was quite a disappointing day for our triathlon team, unless you were a friend, family member, or coworker of Marinius Klasson. Klasson had quite a stellar performance today, placing second overall only behind Arnold Erdmann Stumpf, who placed second in the first race, behind his teammate Jörg Ulrich Halle. Klasson has been performing quite consistently compared to his other teammates, and we're hoping he doesn't suddenly drop in performance like one of our other triathletes (we're talking to you, Elov.)

Speaking of Elov, his second to last place finish was quite disappointing to most of us here at The Kolbenz Times office, and I even saw some people start to cry when they saw him being the 75th person to cross the finish line. We've received some information that he was immensely disappointed in himself, and said his swimming was sub-par that race and claimed he felt sick by the end. After a few hours, he said to the press that he was okay. All I hope is that he's okay and raring to go by tomorrow.

Emil finished in a tight matchup between him and Gregory Svloya of Bzakstan, who was in front of Emil until he overtook Svloya in what we can only describe as an even worse swim than Elov's. Svloya managed to almost overtake Average Emil, but finished about a minute behind Schwartze. Emil's now tenth in his group, but I'd bet he'd take that over dead last.
Irina Kjellson was also had a disappointing run, according to her and a few reporters who I refuse to name, but I hope her little slump will disappear by tomorrow.

Finally, we have Ms. Dries, who managed to surprise us by finishing 37th (and just plain finishing twice in a row) and not coming dead last in her group. Some are so skeptical of her success that a few people have accused her of using PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs). Her and her teammates deny her using any drugs, and have defended her and said she's been training quite hard. Dries claims she's ready for anything, and will work hard to win the World Tour. Kudos to her for her confident attitude, but we all know she isn't going to win. Well, not this competition, at least.

Patistan Triathletes Progress-Day3


So sorry that i didnt RP before. Also their is background of the Athletes in this RP and stories about DAY 1 and DAY 2


Hussam Warsi- Hussam is the youngest Patistani delegate at the competition,despite his age he was the first one to get picked for the Patistani contingent. Hussam is 16 years old and through sports scholarship went into Nixor,a top Patistani College. He is the U-17 national record holder.For the competition he was placed in group A. He had a bad start to the competition cause he finished 11th in the 13th man group with a time of 14:19:26.73. He lost alot of time during the swim which is his weakest component,he did enough in the run to beat the athletes from Swiss States and Wolfbenz,he finished 59th out of 73 in the overall table.

On the second day Hussam improved a little clocking the time of 14:55:14.42 in the SI-C2-R1 combination,the time was enough for him to get two points. He was placed 11th in the group with a total of 3 points. In the Overall table he finished 65th,a disappointment compared to the last overall placement.

On the third day he finished 10th in the group with a time of 14:24:20.54,just missing on getting two points. Due to this slip he went down to 12th position in the group table. He placed 63rd on the overall table a very slight improvement from day 2. Hussam has been seen very frustrated with his team mates for unknown reasons.Can that be the answer to his bad performances?

Taha Junaid- Taha is a 24 year old aspiring footballer,he plays for Tachi Stars who just recently got promoted to the Patistan Premier League (PPL). He is known for his speed and stamina in the club,when the Triathletes Coaching committee (TCC) who are responsible for choosing the contingent saw him play and gave him some Running and swimming tests they put him in the team. Taha failed to impress on day 1 and was the worst Patistani athlete on day 1,he coudnt finish S2-C3-R1 combination,making him the 2nd athlete in group C with no points on the first day.

On the second day Taha finished 12th with the time of 16:46:45.02,just making the 17 Hour deadline. Technically he was last in the group due to The United Regions Athlete Mason Freeman not finishing. The coach of the team had a private word with him after the results were announced. He finished 74th on the overall table.

On the third day Taha was the surprise package for Patistan,finishing 2nd in his group with the time of 10:49:38.44. Enough for him to get the 9 points he needed very very much. These points pushed him up to 9th place in his group with 10 Pts. He was the first Patistani to finish on the top 10 of the overall table,he got 7th place due to his time. The question is can he maintain the form in which he was today?

Valli Rasool-Valli is the oldest of the Patistani contingent with him being 29 years old. Valli was actually in the Triathletes Coaching Committee (TCC) but when one of the participants dropped out from the contingent on a last notice Valli decided to replace him. His involvement was criticized by many but Valli decided to not change his decision. Valli was placed in group D and on the first day he made the critics quiet by finishing 3rd in the group with a time of 12:01:22.60,enough to get 8 points. With his time he finished 24th in the overall table.

On the second day Valli was a disappointment with him finishing 11th in his group with a time of 14:03:26.10,with this time he only got 1 point and also due to this he fell to 6th place from the 3rd. He had finished 51st in the overall table with only a couple of minutes separating him and 50th position holder.

On the third day Valli was again a disappointment,he finished 8th in his group with a time of 13:33:03.35. Only to get 3 points,due to this he fell 1 one position down to 7th in the group standing with a total of 12 points. He finished 42nd in the overall table. Due to this critics again started marking him,but can now Valli redeem himself?

Shaheer Shazib- Shaheer has one of the most interesting background stories. A Law student and a politician who is appointed as Junior minister of Sports...he graduated from Patistan National Academy one of the top Patistani law schools. He later joined current ruling party Patistan Tehreek-Insaf (Patistan Justic-Change Party) Shaheer played sports at UNi level. When seen by Akhtar Dargir the minister of sports at a ground and swimming pool. He was awarded one of the spots in the contingent. On the first day he clocked a okay-ish time of 13:40:39.86,it was enough to place him 9th in the group and 42nd in the overall table.

Shaheer impressed Patistani supporters in Timbermunich finishing 3rd in his group with a time of 12:46:42.91,he got 8 points for this and finished 26th in the overall table. With just over 20 minutes separating him and the 20th placed athlete. He was now also placed 7th in his group with a total of 10 points.

On the third day Shaheer was a major disappointment,he finished last in his group with the sad time of 16:53:10.97,just 7 minutes before the 17th hour deadline. He was also seen in extreme pain after he finished,surprisingly he still was on the 7th place spot in his group. He had finished 75th,2nd last in the overall table. Can Shaheer amid the pain still have a good performance on the 4th day?

Hume Shahzib-First cousin of fellow competitor Shaheer Shazib,Hume himself dosent have high hopes for himself he had just gotten chosen by the Triathletes coaching committee. He has marked this tournament as a "Learning experience" for him in his young career. Hume is 18 years old going to Patistan National Academy just like Shaheer but Hume is going their to learn medical. On the first day Hume finished last in his group with the time of 14:29:12.29,he was happy with the time but thought that he could improve on it. He finished 66th in the overall table.

On the second day their was little improvement by him he finished 7th in his group with a time of 14:05:13.44,hence he had 5 total points and was placed 10th in his group. Due to his 14:05:13.44 time he finished 52nd in the overall table,just two minutes parting him with fellow Patistani Valli Rasool.

The third day was a disappointment for him,he clocked a time of 14:15:02.18 and finished 11th in his group because of this slip-up he fell down to 12th in his group with a total of 6 points. He had finished 60th that day. Hume has gotten a little frustrated due to his performances. Also can Hume make something out of this "learning experience"?

Interview with Mrs. Irina Kjellson of the Wolfbenz Triathlon Team

Today, we managed to interview a special guest today, the Captian of the Wolfbenz Triathlete Team, Irina Kjellson!
Olaf:Good day, Mrs Kjellson, how are you today?
Irina:Okay, I guess. I'm still bummed out by our team's performance today, especially mine.
Olaf:So, Mrs. Kjellson, how do you feel about your team's positions in their group so far?
Irina:I'm not too thrilled about any of them, to be honest. I expected Elov to be more consistent in his group, and I want Emil to perform a bit better, with Elov currently eighth in and Emil being eleventh in Group A. Vanessa being tied for eleventh in her group is also a bit disappointing. Marinius may be the one who is struggling the least of our team, but his performances are becoming quite inconsistent.
Olaf:You are currently tied for sixth place in your group with Great Hatchet Hank of Timbermunich. How do you feel about this?
Irina:Admittedly, I am a little disappointed that I am sixth in my group and my performances are declining, but I believe that we will get better in the coming matches.
Olaf:How did you feel at that mass start, running into the Quellwassermunich Lake with 75 other competitors?
Irina: It was quite scary at first, mainly because I was in the middle of the pack at that time, afraid that I'd trip and get left behind by all the others. When we made it to the water and started swimming, the pack started getting looser, and I started focusing on the race ahead.
Olaf:How did you feel when you stepped across the finish line?
Irina:Relieved because I finished the race, and disappointed because I finished said race in 69th place.
Olaf:Okay, since we're running out of time and I'm boring you with all these questions, on a scale of one to ten, with one being awful and ten being awesome, how well do you think the Wolfbenz triathlon team is doing?
Irina: Hmm, I'd say four or five for now, but we still have quite a few races left, and I can see us doing a lot better than we did last time.
