The Regional Cup XVII, Zurope’s premier association football tournament, is about to begin. The 44 country qualification round is over, and 24 countries have qualified for the tournament finals. We would like to specially welcome debutants Albeinia! Previous tournaments consisted of 16 participating countries, and the sixteenth edition was the last to do so. The seventeenth edition is the first of the tournaments to consist of 24 participating countries which will hopefully make the tournament much more entertaining with more football than ever before seen in a Regional Cup. Soccer fans all over Zurope tune into their country’s biggest sports television channel to watch the qualified countries be drawn into their groups for Zurope’s biggest, most popular and most prestigious sports tournament.

The US national team qualifies for the Regional Cup XVII

The United States national team have qualified as hosts to the Regional Cup XVII, and have been drawn into Group A alongside Gaamorreja, Chilona and the Szek Republic. The hosts’ first game is against Gaamorreja, while Chilona are up against the Szek Republic.

The opening match of the Regional Cup XVII, the United States v Gaamorreja has kicked-off at the National Stadium in Raedburg, Salona. After Regional Cup XVI triumph against Avantia, Zuropean media are backing the United States’ to win the seventeenth edition of the tournament. And they have the advantage, being the voted in hosts. Head coach Dako Redfield said, “I know the team will do well this year, especially due to the fact we are playing on home soil. While we are aiming to dominate the tournament and win, we do wish the other teams good luck!”

The United States’ starting eleven is: ZIENEN; ADRÏN, REZEVIK, RAUSË, KAZERN; PAZHKELAZO, KLUSSEN, KAÏS, MARANÖ, DÄKO; LEWIS GÏLL in a 4-5-1 formation, with the substitutes: DZEKER; MÜLLER, MATKERTZE; KAÄR, KELETZÜR, KAÏRIK; REÜZEN. The team is much stronger than Gaamorreja’s starting eleven: BORUC; GLIK, WAWRZYNIAK, PISZCZEK, WOJTKOWIAK; RYBUS, KRYCHOWIAK, GROSICKI, SOBOTA, KLICH; LEWANDOWSKI. However, with Araadel out on injury, the US are without their main midfielder.

Albeinia’s Regional Cup Campaign

At the mere mention of the Regional Cup, you can put a smile on any Albeinian football fan’s face. They’d tell you stories of how they’ve always dreamed of seeing their country represented in the Regional Cup, but now they can tell stories of how their dreams came true. Qualification was quite tough for the team, with mixed results in their group. The first match was a 2-0 defeat to Rossia, then a tough 4-0 defeat against Flynnerane. The Térulas went down 4-1, Finnerland were beaten 2-0 and a 1-1 draw with Dragoa Dezo made sure Albeinia qualified.

Albeinia’s opening match of the Regional Cup was against Zuropean football giants the Legenlands. The game kicked off yesterday at one o’clock at the SunLife Stadium. The Legenese came out on top, and won 2-0, although the supporters and the team were pleased with their performance in their first match of a major Zuropean tournament. The next match is against Croetia, who won 3-2 in the last Albeinia-Croetia clash during the 2013 Gold Cup. Good luck, Albeinia!

AVANTIA’S REGIONAL CUP XVII

Avantia have another chance to grab that fourth star and fourth Regional Cup title, after losing the Regional Champion status to the US last edition. The team for this edition have been nicknamed ‘The Avengers’.

After a relatively easy qualification process to this Regional Cup, Avantia look set and capable to beat Rykuria in tomorrow’s game. Avantia’s qualification went a little like this: Avantia 5-0 Palmbukia, Avantia 8-0 Koolbe, Avantia 4-0 New Zeeland, Avantia 3-1 Gaamorreja, Avantia 3-0 Ukrana - putting Avantia top of their group with 15 points and an impressive 23 goals. The defeat of RC Sixteen will be avenged!

The starting eleven vs Rykuria is: NEUER; BOATENG, HÖWEDES, LAHM, MERTESACKER; HUMMELS, KHEDIRA, KROOS, MÜLLER, ÖZIL; GÖTZE - a very strong team to play another strong team. BILD.DE predicts the score will be Avantia 2-1 Rykuria - Kroos will score first for Avantia, then Benzema will score for Rykuria followed by Özil for Avantia. However, we’ll have to wait and see what actually happens. Roll on tomorrow!

Chungchilla v Veneco - Tomorrow!

Chungchilla will play Veneco tomorrow in their first game of the Regional Cup XVII in the United States. The match will kick-off at 5pm at the Qualcomm Stadium. Thousands of Chungchillans have travelled all they way from Chungchilla to the United States to watch their country in one of the most prestigious national football tournaments in the world. Chungchillan striker Georgios Samaras said to News Bomb: “I am certain we will play very well tomorrow, and I am sure Chungchilla will do well in our group with Veneco, Avantia and Rykuria.”

The Venecans also have a positive attitude toward the game. Venecan striker from Croftfoot Rovers said, “Hosting the last edition of the tournament and making it through the group stages was not only a big boost for the Veneco, but for Venecan football. The league has become more competitive since the tournament, and the Venecan players in the league have begun to play more confidently and much better. I’m sure we can win tomorrow!”
