The Darmeni Bid for the Tenth Beach Cup

Beach Soccer in Darmen
Beach Soccer is officially Darmen's "National Sport". It is not however the most popular sport or even the country's official "National Football Code." Darmen made its Beach Soccer debut in Beach Cup III, where they were met with almost immediate success, winning their Group and making it as far as the Quarterfinals. Thereafter, Darmen has finished third (BC 6), fourth (BC 4), bowed out in the Quarterfinals (BC 5 & BC 9), reached the Round of Sixteen but gotten no further (BC 7), and even failed to get out of the Group stage (BC 8). Darmen's lone hosting experience of the Beach Cup was its sixth edition.

Domestic Beach Soccer in Darmen has failed to gain much popularity, and only two seasons been completed, the latest results of which can be found here.

Further IC details will be provided should this bid win.

Format
By my count, we are currently up to 45 nations, and with a week still to go before the host bid deadline, and another week or so for voting, the number of sign-ups could exceed 60, which I believe would be a participation record for both the Beach Cup and any tournament I've previously hosted. So a few formats which may be used:

48 teams: 8 groups of 6, double round robin (10 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
50 teams: 10 groups of 5, double round robin (8 matches), with the group winners and six best runners-up advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
54 teams: 9 groups of 6, double round robin (10 matches), with the group winners and seven best runners-up advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
56 teams: 8 groups of 7, double round robin (12 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
60 teams: 10 groups of 6, double round robin (10 matches), with the group winners and six best runners-up advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.
64 teams: 8 groups of 8, single round robin (7 matches), with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Round of Sixteen, single knockout from there.

Any format with 8 groups is my preferred format. If enough concerns are brought up about the length of the Group Stages/RP Burnout, I'm certainly fine with making the Group Stage single round robin. It should also be noted that all formats will have a mid-Group Stage break (the exception for this being the 64 team format), a break between the Group Stage and the Playoffs, and a Third Place Match.

Tiebreakers
Tiebreakers will be decided by:
1. Goal Differential
2. H2H
3. H2H Goal Differential
4. Goals For
5. H2H Goals For

Scorination
xkoranate 0.3.3. will be used, with the NSFS3 Baseball formula being utilized. RP bonus will be on a scale of 0-3, and will be cumulative. The first scorination should occur within five days of my winning the host vote (should I win of course).

Experience
I've previously hosted Rugby League World Cup 12, Rugby World Cup 18, Beach Cup 6, Copa Rushmori 9, World Volleyball Expo 4 and several other smaller tournaments. I also scorinate one of the biggest domestic sports systems in the history of NSSports.

I am going to urge people to vote for Darmen's bid, or any bid besides mine. If I do somehow win, I don't know what it will say of the game.

If you don't feel comfortable with your own bid, you should just withdraw it instead of asking people not to vote for it. Even if the odds of it being selected are minuscule, why leave anything up to chance? Alternatively, if you're having second thoughts about certain aspects of your bid, you are still allowed to change them as voting hasn't started yet. Even experienced hosts occasionally will make changes to their bids if one or two details aren't well-received.

Why such a quick turnaround? I can understand not wanting to have a long gap between the signup period and the start of the competition, but five days seems a bit too short to me as it places more demand on participants to throw their roster together quickly. I'd suggest widening this window to 7-10 days (or roughly a week after the posting of the IC thread).

Other than that relatively small concern, I have no real issues with the bid and would gladly vote for it if no further contending bids are posted between now and the deadline.

It should be noted that that time table is not set in stone, and is simply the earliest that the first cutoff could happen. I don't foresee many people posting very detailed rosters like you might see for a World Cup, but, if after those five days, I think that the number of rosters/pre-tourney RP's posted is a bit sparse, or I myself need more time to do the draw/setup xkoranate, I could certainly extend that time period by another day or two.

If you do this, you'll get a nine-inning result. Unless I'm mistaken, Beach Soccer doesn't have nine innings. Plus, the xkoranate formula for baseball is much less random.

He could just delete the linescores....

Edit: Or uncheck the box that says to show them. Which I believe would also cause it not to display extra innings if it went to it. I ran 50 trials with it disabled and it not once said it went to extra innings. Either I'm ridiculously unlucky or it won't show it. And considering the fact that on my second trial with the linescores enabled, the game went to extra innings, I'm guessing it's the latter.

Ah, fair point. I forgot about that. I'd still rather have the xkoranate formula, for the randomness factor.

To the bid from San Jose Guayabal and Star United States? Why a joint bid? Both users, in my opinion, are capable enough to bid solo, so why did both of you decide to write up a joint bid?

Doing a joint bid represents advantages for the plans and intentions of every host would have, a smoothly run tournament and that's the reason what SUS and I decided to do a joint bid, in case of RL events (God forbid that) from one of us, there's another host that can be the backup for the other side host and keep the competition running and avoiding stop it, so this brings security to the tournament and also adds more stability to the host project (bid).

Respecting us, we think that both nations have IC reasons to do a joint host bid, considering history and culture issues like languages and etc.

Also, in my experience curriculum I may add the most recent edition of the WCC Sanctioned Baptism of Fire (56)

IC: Patistan: A place of diverse culture. In the South, native tribes in the forest. In the North, metropolitan cities which never sleep. The coastal cities, notably Tachi and Lawadar are famous for their always clean beaches. Beach football isn't the most known sport in Patistan but they do have a flourishing league.

Super-Llamaland: The southern ports, Nikcoro, Los Juantos, and Southwest Port amongst them, are soccer-crazy, and when the pitch isn't available the beach will do. The entire nation is large and cultured, from the subarctic tundra of Dinschria to the tropical climate of Nikcoro to the temperate rainforest of the northwest, with a population of 120 million.

OOC

Patistan: Patistan has been RPing in NSSports for a long time and has also scorinated many friendlies and his region's league, as well as bidding for the Eighth International Firestorm Cup with Star United States. He hopes for this to be one of his first tournaments hosted.

Super-Llamaland: Co-host of WBC 30 and IBS III, host of Watterson Bowl II, International Firestorm Cup Seven, and UWCFA Gold Cup II, amongst others. A regular RPer who hopes to enter the world of Beach Soccer.

Format

We're quickly approaching (and will likely surpass) forty-eight nations right now. A double-round robin group stage will be used in the below formats, with the listed nations moving on to a single-elimination knockout phase. We included most multiples of four or six for flexibility.

48: 8 Groups of 6, top two advance to Ro16
50: 10 Groups of 5, top two advance to Ro20
54: 9 Groups of 6, top team and best five second-place advance to Ro16, other runners-ups play playoff to advance
56: 8 Groups of 7, top three advance to Ro24
60: 10 Groups of 6, top two and best four third-place teams advance to Ro24

Ties (and seeding problems) will be broken in the following order:

1. GD
2. H2H
3. H2H GD
4. Playoff game

Group winners will not necessarily be seeded higher than group runners-up.

All group stage games will be played outside of Super-Llamaland and Patistan, except for of course the ones the host nations actually play in.

Scorinator/Ranks

Xkorante-formula baseball, without linescores of course. Rosters will be worth up to five points and RPs two. Multiple RPs on one day will be counted as one. The RPs written over the past five days will be added to the roster score to produce a max RP score of fifteen, and normal Beach Cup ranks will be used.

All-Star Game

Between the best of Super-Llamaland's groups (based on RP) and the best of Patistan's to determine who hosts the final game.
