Gregoryisgodistan Withdraws from Costa Luna

Gregoryisgodistan has withdrawn all troops from The Kingdom of Costa Luna effective immediately. According to Lord Almighty Gregory, "The occupation was simply too costly. There is no point in needlessly occupying that nation of idiots. Let us use our troops elsewhere. They will be needed in the Second Hicanan War, so let us use them there."

In the meantime, the troops left Costa Luna and immediately proceeded to land on the ground in Hicana and start shooting random citizens with machine guns and flamethrowers. Although Lord Almighty Gregory had set a 24 hour deadline for Hicana to meet the demands, the bombing of the Capital District, which killed 28 Gregoryisgodistanis and wounded 93, was seen as a provocation. So now it is time for war in Hicana. Already a significant amount of Hicanan citizens have been attacked by Gregoryisgodistani soldiers parachuting out of the sky with machine guns and flamethrowers. Additionally, several prominent buildings have been burned to the ground with the flamethrowers. Reportedly, the soldiers are much more happy destroying Hicana than they were occupying a nation of idiots.
Gregoryisgodistan, population 75,000,000. All citizens are required to worship Lord Almighty Gregory, our head of state, as a deity.

De Dolfijnen Dis Etranges Verplatterd Wa (The Dolphins Crushed the Foreigners)

Kiano Versteeg, Fyet Garifunyaan

It was an overwhelming victory for de Dolfijnen in their most recent series against Vangaziland, in de Staad Nasyonal, no thanks to da bukra Bastiaan Kuiper. Kuiper plays for his manager (of that team that shall not be named), Rykaard Neihof, and Neihof only. His performance in the opening game against Vangaziland was disgraceful, as he allowed seven runs in just two innings. Kuiper hopes to discredit the fine manager of the Frederykvil Dolfijnen, Eziekeel Companje, and make Gunneman the manager. Kuiper has been pitching poorly during the entire competition, except for his first game, where he showed up Abraam de Bruin by pitching a complete game and allowing the same two runs. Overall, Kuiper has an ERA of 9.64 and has been either a showboat or a complete disaster. Efram Cerfontein has pitched well since his poor performance in de Dolfijnen's first game and should be moved into the rotation instead of Kuiper.

The other two games went very well, as Derrick Marsch allowed just three runs in seven innings and Konraad Larruij hit two three-run homers to lead our team to a 10-3 win in game 2. Larruij now has five home runs to lead the team. I tell you, I was sitting in the box with our esteemed President Gillaat and he was so pleased with Marsch, he said to me, "Marsch is an excellent pitcher. You can't even tell he plays for Vrijbuiters the way he pitches!" (OOC: Vrijbuiters van Mytelbeerg only have one championship in 26 years and are usually a third-place club.)

Unfortunately, Gijs Meijnders could not follow Marsch's example, and he allowed five runs in five innings, with all five coming in the first three frames. Fortunately for him, de Dolfijnen scored ten runs in five innings, including a two-run double by Barent Grijn and Larruij's second grand slam of the tournament. They would win 12-6 and send Vangaziland away unhappy.

Despite this well-played series, de Dolfijnen find themselves in last place in Group IV, with a record of 4-8. They have allowed the most runs by far, with 95; no other team has surrendered more than 82. Pitchers like Bastiaan Kuiper and Gijs Meijnders need to play better. They are hurting the team's chances to win and bringing shame upon our great country of Garifunya. Our first-half MVP is Konraad Larruij, with six home runs and 20 RBI, while Floryan Schoeten runs a close second. Schoeten has played in every game, batting .367 with 14 steals and 18 runs scored. He has also played a very good shortstop. We fully expect de Dolfijnen to sweep their next opponents, the Mountaineers of Appalachia. After all, we won 2 of 3 in their nation, so with the crowd at de Staad Nasyonal and the support of the whole nation listening in on their radios, Garifunya will easily win all three games.

OOC: Fyet Garifunyaan (Garifunyan Pride) is extremely nationalistic, the mouthpiece of the government (more or less), and completely biased towards blacks in Garifunya. It's also very popular. Its counterpart newspaper, De Konigkrijk (the Kingdom), is just as anti-government as FG is pro-government and biased towards whites. The only reason Gillaat hasn't closed it down is so that he has something to rail against in his speeches. De Frederykvil Dagblad is much more balanced and is the second-most read in the country, after FG.

The Floyds ready to receive the Nassau Eagles at home

We are midway in the International Baseball Slam VI. Miley World started with a 6-0 record, but the Floyds lost their last 6 games. The newspaper admits we were kinda surprised to see Miley World sweeping the Nassau Eagles. Sweeping Patistan wasn't surprising, even a little league team can beat them. Then we got swept by Mosktopian, which is normal since they are ranked 10th afterall. And Miley World got swept by the Abanhfleft Revolution which wasn't expected. The Revs are stronger than we initially thought. Mosktopian will win this group unless they are collapsing like the Floyds just did. Then we have a three team race for the 2nd place between Miley World, Abanhfleft and Nassau, with Abanhfleft being the new favorites.

The next series for Miley World will be at home at the Cyrus Field in Zacatlan against the Nassau Eagles. Starting pitchers for Miley World will be Ramon Dominguez (1-1), Sarah Meyer (1-1) and Chuck Stevens (1-1).

Exciting 5th series, ends in disappointment

The 5th series of the International Baseball Slam VI pitted the Commons against the Free Swiss States. The 3 game series was fierce, and much more competitive than thought by fans and experts. The series was a great entertainment, with plenty of home-runs, big dives and slides and even a 14-inning game. Unfortunately, all the excitement ended in some disappointment as they lost the series 1-2 and now rank 2; though many fans morales are kept high by the fact that the Commons have +34 overall points, the highest in Group I.

The first game was the game where fans realized that the Free Swiss States would not go down easily. In the first inning, Kenneth Basile stuck out the opposing batter with an perfect backdoor slider. Globus scored 3 points against the Swiss States' one, and based on the teams gameplay it seemed assured that the Commons would have the game. That mindset was changed in the 2nd inning when the opposing batter hit a ball into the alley and took first. The next batter came on and was able to hit a cutter pitched by Basile. With a player on 2nd and 1st, the next batter hit a dinger. The Commons scored no points that inning, putting them behind by a point. To start the third inning, CF Peter Davis sprinted towards the back wall and crashed into it as he caught to ball, sending the Commons fans crazy. At the end of the six inning, the teams were tied 10-10. It was from here that players on both teams were being constantly stuck out, and those who took bases never had a chance to run to home plate. By the start of the 14th inning, no points had been scored since the sixth. Fans and players alike were tired. Finally, the States batter slammed a ball out of the park making a three-homer. The Free Swiss states won 13-10.

The second game was the vengeance of Globus, with the Commons winning 12-0. Multiple times, outfielders Peter Davis, Leroy McConnell and David Boeding make awesome dive and slides to pick-off the ball, which of course was loved by fans. The Swiss States batters kept being stuck out by Basile's curveballs and sliders, and picked-off by the outfielders. The Globus batters had a field day, easily hitting their pitches.

After the domination of the second game, Globus fans were confident that the morales of the States had been crushed and that the Commons would take an easily win. The States had other plans, coming to the game to avenge themselves. They lead the entire game with at least one point, hit 2 two-homers, and had some amazing pick-offs. The Commons did nothing wrong on the offense, it was the strong States defense that kept the Commons down. The States were able to just barely pull through and win the game 8-7.

In the next series the Commons will host the Nova Anglicana Lions. The Commons played the Lions in Nova Anglicana in the second series and were able to just barely pull through the series, winning 2 close games and losing another close game. The fact that the Commons beat the Lions at least one game is a feat itself, as the Commons are unranked and the Lions are rank 2 in the tournament. Globian fans are not intimidated by the high rank of the Lions, and hold their heads high and confident as the Commons go into series 6. Currently, the Lions and the Commons both have 7 wins and 5 losses.

CANCEL THOSE PLANE TICKETS, BOYS; WE MAY STILL HAVE A CHANCE!

Oh, yes, my dear followers, you read my header right again: Abanhfleft may just have a chance at making it through into the knockout stages of the International Baseball Slam!

In the fifth series of the Baseball Slam's group stages, we swept the Nassau Eagles to put us into second place in Group II! I know! Even I can't believe it! Ollie McKrinter of the Blue Sox, a pitcher which I've already praised in my last blog post, helped to steer the Revolution to victory again! And again! And again! The guy's unstoppable! Good thing the Cubs don't have to face the Blue Sox anytime soon, because I wouldn't want to be on the batter's mount while he's still in form!

Jeez, you really have to be there in Effelenendro and Nassau to see and believe the results. Game one against the Eagles, we scored a whopping 12 runs (twelve!) against them! Sure, they managed to squeeze four runs past us, but kudos to the Revolution's defense for stifling them in that game, and the second game, and the third game! A wicked nice coordinated effort from the Jackal, Habibi, the Chinamen, Desmond, and of course yours truly, kept the Eagles from making any more runs in the last three innings of the game.

The second game between the Revolution and the Eagles, held right at the atrocious Fleftic National Baseball Stadium in Effelenendro Island, was a, well, more conventional baseball game. There were lots of good chances for both teams, but the Eagles never really managed to score runs until the last three innings, and by then we were too far ahead for them to even have a chance of coming back. But the best thing in the match was when Carlos the Jackal hit that flyball from Levy Bowdith to put the game away at 9 runs to 4.

For the third game, all I can say is that it was an absolute blowout. 10 runs to 1... I feel as sad for Nassau as I did for Brazil when Germany absolutely Mannschafted them 7-1. Damn, son! 10-1... Those numbers still keep me awake at night, even though I may have played a part in keeping Nassau out of the scoreboard for eight innings. But honestly, guys, the credit for our wins rightfully goes to Oliver McKrinter of the Blue Sox, just because he's one of the best pitchers there is.

If the Revolution does make it to the knockout stages, that's going to keep a lot of star players in the Fleftic Major League (myself not included, cough, cough) from being able to get back with their respective squads when the Playoffs begin a few days from now. With a lot of star players gone from the big-name teams, who knows what's going to happen in the Major League? I guess we'll just have to watch to find out.

Anyway, this is the Armored Dinner Jacket saying, ciao, peace. Catch you in my next post.

EL "Hello, and welcome to the Baseball Reporon the Cameranian Sports Network, I'm Erik Linden. Today, we bring you an update on our next game. The tournament as gone into the second leg of group play, which is basically a mirror of the first leg. At this midway point, we've been able to ascend to a commanding second plac3, that should hopefully be further strengthened after our upcoming series against Vangaziland in Burgundy City. Cameranians have had a pretty positive outlook lately, as we're doing pretty well in our group so far. The Stars have been performing better than we could have imagined in their baseball debut, and I'm sure they'll keep it up! For more, we go again to Anna Einarsson, who is live in Burgundy city, at Karlsson Stadium, where fans are already pouring in to see the Stars shine at home. Anna, how's it going there?"
AE "It's amazing here, Erik! If you had told me a year ago that something like this was going to be happening, I would have said you're crazy, but now here we are, at Karlsson Stadium, getting prepared for the first of three sold out baseball games! Sold out!!! And featuring our own national team, no less! This is such a wonderful opportunity for us, and people are coming from all over the nation, from as far as Ingara and Ennerberg to see the Stars shine! I was talking with my brother , and he was saying that the Stars' success wouldn't be possible without all of our support, so keep up with the awesome support of the team, everyone, and GO STARS!!! För Kaneransrike!!!"
EL "Haha, wow it's awesome to see all of you supporting our team! Well, with that it's time to head to the stadium or tune in to the game soon here, so until next time, I've been Erik Linden, for the Baseball Report on the Cameranian Sports Network."

Globus wins 6th series 2-1

Basile catches line drive

In 3 very exciting games, the Commons outplayed the Diamonds to win two games, and their loss did not go without a fight. Fans and experts are thrilled about results and gameplay of the Commons and eager for the next series. The Commons now lead the 6th series at 9-6 and are up with +40 points. When they win, they win but a lot.

The exciting first game may have been lost by the Commons, but it was enticing. Both teams were evenly skilled in every aspect of the game. Throughout the match, it seemed it was anyone's game. Basile kept the batters at bay with his impressive sliders and the Diamonds constant pickoffs and double plays kept the Commons defense done. By the end of the 7th inning, the teams were tied 5-5, and were getting more competitive. It Globus might play another 14 inning game, like last series. In the 9th inning, when it looked like it was going to the 10th inning, the Barons just barely skimmed a ball over the back fence for a home run sealing their win at 6-5.

The second game saw impressive defenses, pitches and many strikeouts. Reporters were astonished at the number of impeccable curveballs and fastballs that were swung at, it was really a game for the pitchers of both teams. The most impressive moment was when Thomas Rendon threw a perfect backdoor slider to the batter who had 2 strikes, and the batter took a mighty swing while completely missing the ball and nearly spinning him around. It was quite the embarrassment for him, but a triumph for Rendon who hasn't had much pitching time this tournament. As an effect of great defenses and pitches, the game only had 7 points scored. Globus was able to get on more run in than the Diamonds, and won 4-3.

You had to watch the third game to feel the utter excitement in this one. To explain this one, I'll quote the reporter from the game. "Alright Diamonds are up to bat. Kenneth Basile is the starter pitcher as usual. And... *smack* ...Oh! Nice... Wait! Basile is hit by a line drive! No! Basile caught the ball! A toss to first base! The batter is out! Wow! That's amazing. That was well played by Basile and Kent!" The ball went straight for Basile's face, to protect himself he put his glove in front of his face and caught the ball. When he realized he had it he stumbled off the hill and tossed it to first baseman Michael Kent in just enough time to out the batter. Throughout the rest of the game, the Diamonds were less proficient in getting pickoffs and had no double plays like last game. On the Globus side, the batters seemed much more prepared for curveballs and sliders, and had significantly less strikeouts than the previous game. The great batter's of the Commons lead to a Globus win of 7-1.

Another flawless win for Estenia

Estenian Blue Stars win another flawless, this time the victim was Mizuyuki Sunburst. Estenians won them with 4-5 tiwce and 2-5 once. Estenians left Mizuyuki Sunburst out of the tournament, as Miuyuki SUnburst even if it wins all the other games, will disqualfy. Estenians haven't ensured anything yet, as they are very near to Gregoryisgodistan Bat Slaves, which they have to win in at least one game so they ensure to take the other games and qualify. Estenian Blue Stars in the first game of the second term are still first with more appearances than Gregoryisgodistan Bat Slaves. 3rd is a bit of surprising but it's Coconut Isle Dwarfs, 4th is Guerro Sjömäns and last and disqualified, Mizuyuki Sunburst. Next Game against Superior team, Gregoryisgodistan, until then goodbye.
Runner-up at the 1st OMAHAN FUTSAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS, 4th at Maple Leaf Bowl III, 4th on Baptism of Fire 57, 2nd at Runner Cup 4, 3rd at 21st World Lacrosse Championships.

Brilliant!
Tigers Easily in First at Halfway Point

Pld W L RF RA RD Win %
1 Super-Llamaland Tigers 12 10 2 98 57 +41 0.833
2 Camerania Stars 12 6 6 71 77 −6 0.500
3 Vangaziland Royals 12 5 7 75 82 −7 0.417
4 Appalachian State Mountaineers 12 5 7 62 73 −11 0.417
5 Garifunya Dolfijnen 12 4 8 78 95 −17 0.333

Plus forty-one. Plus. Forty. Freaking. One.

That's winning by three and a half runs every game. This is a lot. When you consider that we seem to have a group-wide monopoly on scoring more than you give up, generally considered an important thing to do if you want to win games. Camerania, Vangaziland, Appalachian State, and Garifunya have been tougher than expected from a group without a WBC or IBS,

At the halfway point, the Tigers are up four games on the next team, the Camerania Stars. If the season ended today, the Tigers would be second in the world, behind surprise 11-1s Vettrera. Let's break down the four series they've played so far.

Sweep of Garifunya (6-5, 15-8, 14-5)

Despite some reserves that Garifunya and their Dolphins (Dolfijnen, same difference) were actually quite good, the Tigers' offense clinically took them apart, scoring thirty-five runs. While the pitching wasn't really that good, the Tigers proved that they were going to defend their crown very well. An added bonus: fourteen doubles marked a record for the Tigers.

Win Against Camerania (14-5, 4-5, 3-1)

Once again, the Tigers, for the third game in a row, scored at least fourteen runs, with a decent outing from Brittany Hendrickson save for a disastrous first inning. In the second game, a Bobby Fritz blow-up lead to a 5-4 loss, but in the third game, Kyle Francis was sublime, throwing a complete game, only allowing a single unearned run, and whiffing twelve, leading the Tigers to a three-one win in the rubber match.

Win Against Vangaziland (4-10, 6-4, 5-4)

It was a bad day to be Drew Gilson, as the starting pitcher's fastball was abnormally out of control. Six walks in four innings lead to his nine-run doom, while the Tigers offense continued their dormancy, with just twenty-one runs in five games (the last two against Camerania, and the series against Vangaziland). But solid pitching and clutch hitting, including a go-ahead two-run home run from Trevor Matthews in the eleventh, lead them to another series win and a 7-2 record.

Sweep of Appalachian State (11-1, 8-4, 8-5)

And against the Appalachian State Mountaineers, the Tigers wrapped up the first half, the offense returning for nine runs a game. Kyle Francis, once again, threw a complete game one-run affair, and Gilson and Hendrickson were solid.

Next Series: v. Garifunya

The Dolfijnen will be looking for revenge after they were humiliated at home. Certainly the government is mad about it, complaining that nation names have some sort of correlation. I guess they aren't that Garifun of a place after all HOO HA HA HA HA HOO HA- [/is-shot] The Tigers will be punting Drew Gilson to the fourth spot with minor shoulder injuries to give him an extra day of rest.

Game One: R AJ Rondout (1-0, 3.66 ERA)
Game Two: R Kyle Francis (3-0, 2.34 ERA)
Game Three: R Brittany Hendrickson (1-0, 4.15 ERA)
The Eighth Llamanean Republic

Appalachian State Mountaineers Baseball

Davis celebrates with Brown after his grand slam.

Game 3 Win Snaps A Seven Game Losing Streak

Highlighted by a grand slam by Jaylin Davis, Appalachian State baseball scored four runs in the fifth inning and cruised to a 9-5 victory over Garifunya on Thursday afternoon. With the victory, Appalachian State (6-9) took game three from Garifunya. Appalachian has lost seven-straight games and trails second-place Camerania by just three games in the loss column. Garifunya jumped out a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning of Thursday’s finale, but App State responded with the four-spot in the bottom of the fifth to take an advantage that it would never relinquish. The Mountaineers opened the top of the fifth with three-straight hits. The next batter, Davis delivered the biggest hit of the day when he launched the first pitch he saw over the right-field wall, opposite-field, grand slam homer that extended the Mountaineers’ advantage to 7-2. A two-run blast by Troutman stretched Appalachian’s lead to 9-4 in the ninth and the Mountaineers maintained a four-run advantage at 9-5. However, helped by two Appalachian State errors, Garifunya plated four unearned runs in the game. Taylor Thurber pitched a scoreless eighth and Robert Whaley faced just four batters in the ninth to close out the victory.

Red-hot Davis paced the Mountaineers’ 9-run, 10-hit attack by going 2-for-3 with a career-high four RBI. In the process, he extended Appalachian’s longest hitting streak of the season to 15 games and raised his team-best batting average to .412. Gonzales and Zupcic added two hits apiece for App State. Starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs grinded his way through six innings, throwing 128 pitches but limiting Garifunya to just four runs to earn the win and move to 2-1 on the season.

The Dragon's Nest

Coconutstan - A perfect game is not natural to see in baseball, but Berk's most natural pitcher, Frank Naturally, completed the feat in the second game of the Dragons' series with Coconutstan. The accomplishment took a lot of work, only being completed after one hundred and thirty-three pitches and a thirty minute rain delay to start the ninth inning. After the game, Naturally commented, "I wanted to go out and put on a good performance for the Princesa and my fellow countrymen. No one ever expects to throw a perfect game, but Today is a great catcher and is very experienced and really calls a great game."

Naturally takes the mound twice at home tomorrow against Lislander tomorrow.

Cameras pan to three men sitting on an oval desk with. On the right is the Sporting Analyst Brett Jumar. In the middle is retired coach for the Cablar Red Hawks, during their prime years, Doug Spalding. And lastly, dashing Baseball Informant Roy Balding

Mr. Balding: Welcome back to PSN. Another series swept in Perinpanland! The crowd is ecstatic with fans all over the nation watching in the stadium and outside it. Nethrezite State Officials have also expressed their gratitude towards the amount of donations given to the state from our ticket sales!

Mr. Spalding: Without further ado, here is the recap:

Game 1
Mr. Jumar: Welcome to the Birchton National's field. The Athleticos have decided to wear Birchton Nationals colours today. Image
The game started with the Athleticos bucking back in the first following a run scored by the Komodo dragons. Bottom of the first. Melvin Stones and Miguel Cruz both singled. A sacrifice bunt by David Devine allowed Stones and Cruz to get to 3rd and 2nd base respectfully. With one out, Derek Troy was at bat. In a failed pickoff attempt by the pitcher, Stones was able to take home! and Cruz gets to third. Moreover Troy singled allowing Cruz home making it a 2-1 game. The celebration was short lived in the top of the second as Crato allows the bases to be loaded following by a double. 3-2. Komodo Dragons. Later on in the bottom of the fourth Jose Castro gets a singles. The Komodo Dragon's second pitcher hits Gomez's shin and walked Alex Reyes. The bases were loaded with one out. A sacrifice fly to center field by Melvin Stones allowed Castro to slide home tying the ball game. Top of the fifth, Crato allowed a home run and some singles allowing the Komodo dragons to lead. He was substituted out for Adam Watson. Perinpanland would later attack back with a single home run scored by David Devine who was first at bat. The Komodo Dragons retaliated with their own homerun at the top of the sixth. Bottom of the 8th Cruz scores a homerun on a flyball to center field after the sixth pitch tying the game. Jones was able to double. With two outs Carlos Batista hits one far to center field. It hits the wall and remains in play...Jones gets home with Batista on third. A ground out and a strike out would end Perinpanland's adventure in the eighth. Perinpanland would make one more pitcher switch in the ninth so that Greg Dutch would save the game with the score being 6-5 Athleticos.
Image

Game 2
Mr. Spalding: Game 2 and Adam Watson will be starting today. Since the lineup was well against the Komodo Dragons the same lineup will be used today. Top of the first and both Stones and Cruz have singled. Cruz's single was used to score an additional base by Stones. Stones at third and Cruz at first. Jones at bat. With 1 strike and 1 ball, Jones swings to shortstop. A ground out and a tag at second base but this allowed Stones to score in the inning. Bottom of the third and Stones and Cruz are both at base again. Jones was lined out and Devine is at bat with two outs. Devine singles one to left field and with a throw too powerful misses the catcher and Stones scores another run in the third making it a 2-1 game. This massacre did not end there. Carlos Batista scored a homerun on a flyball in the third inning. 4th inning and Reyes is at third from a double and a steal. Cruz grounds out by their first baseman allowing Reyes to score yet another run. By the top of the fifth, Watson allowed a run whereas the Komodo Dragon have changed their pitcher. This did not stop the Athleticos as David Devine scored yet another run. sixth inning and Gomez scored a run with bases loaded and a sacrifice play. Two more was added by a two run homerun by Devine again. And Watson had finished his complete game with only 5 hits.

Game 3
Mr. Balding: Pat Grajib starts this one. He allows one off a soft ground ball. Bottom of the first Perinpanland would tie it again with its same line up. The first pitch for Perinpanland, a fast ball, would result in a homerun for Stones. In the second Derek Troy is at third with a double and a run to third from Batista's groundout. 2 outs, and Castro hits a double to the left fielder allowing Troy to score a run. 2-1 Athleticos. The Komodo Dragons were able to score a run by the fourth however this was responded not too kindly by Perinpanland. David Devine scored a double in four pitches. Derek Troy hits one to center field. The fielder throws it towards 3rd but Devine slides making him safe. Another Double by Batista to center field allows Perinpanland to score 2. This game is now 4-2. By the fifth both coaches changed pitches. Grajib as switched out for Crato. The change in pitchers did not stop Gomez as he scored another homerun. By the sixth, Cruz had a single and Jones got the walk. Devine grounds out but this allows both Cruz and Jones to score an additional base. Troy scored a soft groundball past third baseman allowing both Cruz and Jones to score making it a 7-3. The Komodo Dragons have made another pitcher switch. By the 8th inning, the Athleticos have switched Crato for Biggs. Cruz singled. Jones struck out and Devine was intentionally walked to first. Another walk for Derek Troy has made the bases loaded. After a discussion with the coaches on the mound it seems that the pitcher will continue. A bad mistake as Carlos Batista scored a double allowing Devine and Cruz to score a run each. As the Komodo Dragons changed pitchers, the game was closed as Perinpanland's final pitcher ended, Mark Chapman, to end the game 9-3. A good effort by Komodo Dragons as they had 13 hits, 1 more to Perinpanland's 12. 2 series were swept in a row!
Image

Mr.Balding: The three stars goes to 3. Miguel Cruz 2. Adam Watson and 1. David Devine,

Mr.Spalding: That who I'd choose. Miguel Cruz is constantly on base with Devine to bring 'em home. Adam Watson has played great games both of them. It will be up to the same style of play that will be needed against the top-seeded team in the group. Perinpanland's coaching staff needs to work on defense and the bullpen. Alot of other pitchers will need to step up to the plate. Especially during a long and even game.

Mr. Balding: We here is the lineup for the series against Imota:

C #39 Melvin Stones
1B #24 Miguel Cruz
OF #23 Andrew Jones
3B #9 David Devine
SS #2 Derek Troy
OF #19 Carlos Batista
2B #79 Robinson Butler
OF #10 Adam Gomez
DH #25 Alex Reyes

pitchers
RHP #50 Adam Watson
RHP #56 Mark Chapman
LHP #34 Felix Clayton
LHP #56 Greg Dutch

LHP #11 Wu Crato
RHP #62 Sean Biggs
RHP #35 Madison Centabes

Mr. Spalding: No real changes in the lineup. I guess that's because it's been working out. A strategic lineup that gets base runners on bases and perfect hitters to score runs. Pitching wise Perinpanland will be using their strongest pitchers against Imota to try and win these games.

Mr. Jumar: That's all from us now! We'll see you tomorrow at the beginning of the series Perinpanland in Imota! See you next time!
    [5]Its Chill
    [4]We're watching now!
[3]We're arming our forces and cleaning our tanks!!
    [2]BAM!!!! BAM!!! We're at war!!!

Report: Yellow Belly Records Record Sales in Costa Luna and Gregoryisgodistan

Yellow Belly's new coconut flavor is a huge hit with Costa Lunians celebrating their freedom from Gregoryisgodistan. Laura Guiro, a Lake Monroe resident, commented, "Yellow Belly was set up by the Gregoryisgodistan to mock the Princesa when she fled. It is nice to see the tables turned on Gregoryisgodistan after the surrendered Costa Luna to head off to some other war."

Yellow Belly's sale of the Gregoryisgodistan Coconut, which is marketed in Gregoryisgodistan under the name Gregoryisgodistan Flavored, has been flying off the shelves after the country's defeat in Costa Luna. "Apparently citizens of Gregoryisgodistan like coconut," stated Yellow Belly's CEO, Avery Ross. "Until we are banned from the country, we will keep giving the citizens what they want." Yellow Belly also sent a nice gift basket of Gregoryisgodistan Flavored jelly beans to Lord Almighty Gregory.

Nationaal Honkbalteam Wint Twee Wedstrijden van Drie (National Baseball Team Wins Two of Three Games)

Gert-Jan Schaapman, De Konikrijk

When I heard that die klootzak Gillaat had organized a national honkbal team, I fully expected it to be composed of players from the Frederykvil Dolfijnen, that good-for-nothing club. It is well known, even if it is denied by the government, that public money, tax money, goes to fund de Dolfijnen simply because Gillaat favors that club. It is completely illegal, but then again, what does Gillaat do that isn't?

However, I do have to applaud Gillaat for actually putting white players on the team, including some of the players from that sacred club, the Frederykvil Heiligen. So that's one thing he's done right.

The most recent series that the national team played was against a team called the Mountaineers from the State of Appalachia. They seemed like nice people, certainly better than Gillaat and his ilk, if a bit rough around the edges. They are the sort of people who could have colonized Sint Frederyk (OOC: Old Dutch name for Garifunya) long ago and who could revitalize it now; it's too bad they aren't Dutch.

In the first match, Abraam de Bruin, the star of the HLvG and the darling of Gillaat's eye, only allowed three hits and no walks in the first six innings while striking out seven. De Dolfijnen scored three runs to back him, including an RBI double by Heiligen catcher Dierk Bolscher. de Bruin ran into a little trouble in the 7th, allowing three runs on an RBI double and a two-run single. However, he recovered to strike out the final batter and departed having allowed four runs in seven innings. He is a good pitcher for a zwarter, though not quite as good as Bastiaan Kuiper, even though he is having a bad tournament. De Dolfijnen rallied for two runs in the bottom of the inning to save de Bruin from the loss, getting a rare home run from Freddie Santing, scoring Barent Grijn. They added an insurance run in the eighth to make the final 6-4.

As for the second game, our Bastiaan Kuiper continued to struggle despite his massive talent. His fastball was flat and straight, his curve was hanging instead of snapping, and his changeup was not fooling hitters. He was battered to the tune of nine hits and six runs in four innings and left trailing 6-4. Three runs plated in the later innings let de Dolfijnen pull out a 7-6 victory.

I personally believe that Kuiper's struggles are to be blamed on Karim Veenstra, the Vrijbuiters manager who is serving as the pitching coach for this tournament. The Vrijbuiters staff is decent, but is not top level, and Veenstra clearly has no idea how to handle a top-flight white pitcher. He is damaging Kuiper's development and I believe that Mijnheer Neihof of the Heiligen should take exclusive responsibility for the preparation of his pitcher in this tournament.

De Dolfijnen dropped the final game of the series, as Derrick Marsch surrendered seven runs in five innings, and the final ended 9-5. Nevertheless, two of three is a good start to the second half and our team now stands at 6-9 with plenty of games remaining. They still have a tough road remaining, starting with a road series against Super-Llamaland, who swept them with an impressive display of offense at the Staad Nasyonal a couple of weeks ago. Though the Tigers are starting a woman
in game 3, so I fully expect de Dolfijnen to win at least that game.

OOC: Please see the OOC note in the post at the top of the page for what sort of newspaper De Konigrijk is. It also writes in Dutch instead of Garifunyan Creole.

Lions Look for Revenge to Start Second Half

Allen Talos, Londinium Courier

The Nova Anglican Lions so far have found the 6th International Baseball Slam to be no walk in the park. Despite all of their opponents in Group I being first-time nations, the Lions have struggled to a 7-5 record. The word "struggled" may seem misleading, seeing as the Lions have won 3 of their 4 series, but they have yet to sweep an opponent (something other teams seem to be doing with regularity) and they are one of about three or four ranked teams in this edition to have lost a series. Additionally, the Lions hold a run differential of merely +8, and only have a winning record thanks to their outstanding offense, which is averaging nearly seven runs per game. Meanwhile, the staff has forgotten how to pitching, allowing an average of six runs per contest, much worse than we are accustomed to seeing from them in other competitions.

The Lions will face the Globus Commons to open up the second half of the group stage. Globus, a young team (the oldest player is 28), defeated the Lions in two of three games in Globus in the Lions' first series. But Globus will have to come to Archbishop Stadium next, where the fans will be behind the Lions 100% and they will know the particularities of the ballpark much better than the Globus team. Manager Graig Lowman, due to the bye, has decided to restart his rotation from the top, but has bumped formerly disgraced starter Brad Bryan to the 3rd spot, moving Chris Keyes to the 4th slot and Nate Freeman to the 5th spot. The new rotation now reads Murphy-Garcia-Bryan-Keyes-Freeman.

Getting good pitching will be imperative, especially from staff ace Felix Murphy, who has pitched awfully so far. Hopefully a home start and the prospect of getting even will motivate him. Other than one hiccough in the opening series against Globus, Justin Garcia has been fantastic, posting an era of 1.77 in his last two starts with seventeen strikeouts. Brad Bryan, who pitched so poorly in the World Baseball Classic, pitched a stellar eight innings in his first start, battled back from allowing five runs in three innings to pitch three scoreless against Free Swiss States, and turned in a quality start of 6 IP and 3 ER against Ospira in the final series of the first half. The hitting should continue to be hot, so the Lions will lean heavily on these three men in this next series. A sweep would be lovely, but a series win is imperative, as the Lions cannot afford to fall three games or more behind.

Hey, guys, remember those days when we were struggling to get into our rhythm into this International Baseball Slam? The days when we were lost two games straight to the Patistan Greenbats, and then just managed to eke out an unconvincing win in the third and final game of the first series? Well, those days are apparently behind us now, as we, the Abanhfleft Revolution, have just swept the Greenbats!

Bet you couldn't believe your eyes when you read that, huh? Well, I also had trouble believing that while playing in those three games. You would think that since I was right there, I should be the one telling you guys to believe in these results. But no. I still can't believe it, even until now. In the first game, Burt Hokabo (that guy in the picture above), kept the Patistan offense silent for five innings until the Greenbat hitter managed to stroke a very lucky home run from what should have been an unhittable curveball to get three (3) runs for their team. But that didn't matter by then, as we the Revolution were up by a lofty seven (7) runs.

The second and third games were much more closer contests than that. In game two, we were up by 5 runs to 3 in the 8th inning when the Patistan hitter (again!) manage to get a home run out of in-form Oliver McKrinter's curveball (again!) to equalize the game. We shut the Greenbats out in the 9th inning, but unless we scored a run, we faced the prospect of extra innings, in which we won one game and lost one. Carlos the Jackal and Habibi Teymourian had both struck out thanks to the efforts of the Patistan pitcher, and so it was onto the Chinaman, Heng Jiangming, to get us out of this mess. And, boy, did Jiangming deliver. I recommend that you go to Youtube and type "heng jiangming home run baseball slam," because there are no words to describe the way he hit that fastball and sent it out to the cheap seats. Yep, second game in the bag for the Revolution.

It was basically the same situation in game three of series six. We were up by two runs in the 8th inning, and then Patistan managed to score two runs to equalize. And this time, not even yours truly could save us from extra innings. Patistan got a home run in the 10th inning following a a curveball struck with a message from the Greenbats: We won't go down lightly. Habibi Teymourian managed not to strike out this time around, but he got only as far as third base before the ball caught up to him. All we needed was a good and proper hit to get one more inning. But Heng Jiangming, once again, will not settle for the extra inning. He sent the ball far out of sight to give us the ninth straight W of this Baseball Slam! And for being the hero of the Revolution, Jiangming got a Gatorade shower for his efforts! You can Google it if you like; search for "heng jiangming gatorade shower."

Up next, we'll be facing the Mosktopian Nationals once again, I think. They handed us three straight Ls in our first three meetings, but then that's to be expected for the 10th ranked team in NS baseball. I wonder, though, if we can ride our momentum and get some Ws from this absolute beast of a national team.

Before I sign off on you guys, here's a look at how Group II looks like right now.
Pld W L RF RA RD Win %
1 Mosktopian Nationals 12 10 2 90 55 +35 0.833
2 Abanhfleft Revolution 15 10 5 116 88 +28 0.667

Anyway, this is the Armored Dinner Jacket saying, ciao, peace. Catch you in the next post.

PRESS RELEASE: Copyright Claim Infringement and Withdrawal of Support

It is the official position of the government of Coconut Isle to completely condemn the nation of Costa Luna for infringing upon the copyright trademark of the word 'coconut' which appears in the nation's name, Coconut Isle. Consequently, issues and orders have been pronounced at the ritual courts of Coconut Isle to bring the nation of Costa Luna and Yellow Belly Jelly Beans to trial for copyright infringement.

The flavour "Gregoryisgodistan Coconut" or known as "Gregoryisgodistan Flavored" made by the Yellow Belly Jelly Beans company unlawfully uses the word coconut in their trademark, and will therefore be compelled to change flavours. The government of Coconut Isle hopes to seek compensation for the confusion which may have occurred between the two names. The government also seeks to take 30% of future royalties (of the sales) to ensure that just compensation is achieved.

Additionally, the government of Coconut Isle is all about solutions, so they have decided to put up several 'solutions' to help the Yellow Belly Jelly Beans Company to overcome this shortfall in their naming processes. A team of five government experts on naming have been assigned to the company to help them name new jelly bean flavours to ensure that they comply with international obligations. Coconut Isle has suggested the following recommendations for new flavour names such as: "Gogoch" flavour, "Tropical Fruit encased in husk" flavour or "Hokum flavour."

Meanwhile, the government of Estenia, more specifically, the Deputy Minister of Sports said that;
"I assume that you don't know what racism is, so I will tell you. It's when you don't like nations and say bad words like they are stupid or they say Darn things. You've daone that many times, even to your people for example not giving them names except to those who are your friends. You think you take their lands while you lose to our massive force. I will destroy you at every sport and this will haunt you everyday, on the rest of your life. I will run you up until you stop, hear that, I will ruin you."

Coconut Isle wishes to make it clear that they support Estenia fully with their intentions in ripping apart Gregoryisgodistan. They are a racist nation and should be removed off the face of the earth -- of course, through legal means!

Do It Again: Sunwings Gear Up For Second Half (http://ipbl.im/ibs6/news/6)

The Sunwings went into the second half of the group stage solidly in first place, with 9 wins and 2 games on the second place Perinpanland Athleticos. Now, after taking a bye in a series that has seen the A’s decisively sweep Notsofreeland and become the first team in the group with double-digits in the wins column, the Sunwings now host the A’s to truly begin the second half.

The bye has allowed the starting rotation to rest and reset: Makoto Kikuchi, Sakuya Izayoi, and Nozomi Itoshiki will start in order. The Athleticos have surprised international baseball watchers with their brilliant play and hard work. However, the Sunwings still have a better win percentage, and outscored the A’s 20-14 with two wins the last time they met, and the A’s won’t be able to use a DH in notoriously DH-unfriendly Imota. However, with the Athleticos coming off a sweep instead of a close 2-1 loss, that momentum might be all the new squad needs to prevail.

In other news, the Cardoan Lions took two out of three from the Chillers to double their number of wins (currently 4-11),and the Diegstra Knights took two out of three from the Jachaelter Jack Rabbits, improving their record to 12-3 and staying on top of group 8.

"Hello, and welcome to the Baseball Report on the Cameranian Sports Network. I'm Erik Linden. Our most recent series was a great one, as we swept Vangaziland, with all eights! This is especially significant, as eight has always been thought of as a special number in our country, often even thought of as a lucky number, so to sweep with all eights, it seems like a good sign for us. We're still in a fairly strong second position in our group. Today we begin our series agains the Appalachian State, the only unranked team that has beaten us in a series. Hopefully, we have learned what needs to be done against a team like this, so that we can work to solidify our position, so that we can advance. But to be honest, it's been amazing to see our team win ever. This is our first international baseball tournament, and I think all of us are astounded by how well it's been going. I'm also amazed by how much support our team has received, especially in our recent home series, where all three games were sold out. These things couldn't happen without amazing fans to support an amazing team, so thank you to everyone who's been supporting our Stars. In sure the rest of the tournament holds great and interesting trials for us, starting with our series against Appalachian State. I'll be back to report on that after we see the results, until then I'm Erik Linden, thanks for watching."

Estenia lost Streak but maintain first place

Estenian player lost two of the three games of the series against the superior team, Gregoryisgodistan. They lost to 6-10 and 4-10 and won with 11-6 which make the rivalry rise even more for these 2 teams. Let's only see Globus this time, who lost 2 out of the three matches against the superior Nova Anglicana, second team in world. They lost with the scores of 10-12 and 5-12 and won with the score of 9-6. But Globus lost 1st place and went second but Estenia maintained the first place, until Greogryisgodistan do a flawless in the next game. Another achievement is only Estenia and so far Guerro are the only team that haven't suffered a flawless by Gregoryisgodistan and only Estenia and Gregoryisgodistan are the only team that haven't suffered a flawless in General. Estenia so far has lesser poiints than Gregoryisgodistan but Estenians know that they will fall to the second place in the next series, they have a feeling about that. Now let's talk about the team of the group that was disqualified before everyone, Mizuyuki Sunburst. Mizuyuki Sunburst has only won 2 game, the lesser wins along with Patistan Greenbats which make them the worst teams of the tournament so far.

Gregoryisgodistan Assault on Hicana Continues

Gregoryisgodistani troops continued destroying Hicana today, shooting random civilians with machine guns and flame throwers and setting buildings across the country on fire. Additionally, Gregoryisgodistani soldiers managed to assassinate Hicanan president Jody Ramires, with one breaking into the President's office after killing two guards and then stabbing Ramirez with a knife. Ramires was then set on fire with a flamethrower for good measure. The soldiers were pursued by guards as they fled the scene, killing one of them. The other managed to shoot both soldiers. One was captured, while the other managed to escape to safety and is still at large. Meanwhile, several thousand Hicana civilians and soldiers have been killed and countless more wounded.

Meanwhile, the Hicanan Air Force continues to bomb Gregoryisgodistan. A bomb was dropped on District 6 earlier today, killing 37 and wounding 98. Another bomb was dropped on District 33, killing 55 and wounding 162. In total over the past few days, 198 Gregoryisgodistanis have been killed and 419 wounded. It is proving to be a much bloodier war than the last one, as both countries continue full-scale assaults on each other. Soldiers are still parachuting into Hicana, heavily armed and prepared to fight civilians and soldiers alike. Meanwhile, the Hicanan army continues to drop bombs indiscriminately. There is no sign that a truce appears to be near.

Lord Almighty Gregory stated that Hicana must pay for their action against the brave and noble Enemy Crushers during the Royal Alexandre Hockey Invitational in Quebec. "Those sinner heathens stabbed the Enemy Crushers to death. It is an attack on all of Gregoryisgodistan. Hicana must die. Hicana must be destroyed. Death to Hicana and all who inhabit it. The war will continue until every Hicanan is dead!"

All soldiers who parachute into Hicana are armed with machine guns and flamethrowers. Some are also armed with swords, knives, grenades, or assorted other weapons. They will use these weapons to kill all Hicanans. It is proving to be a very bloody war that shows no signs of stopping. Reportedly Gregoryisgodistan has called up another 250,000 soldiers from the reserves to participate in the war. They will be entering Hicana over the next several days. In addition to the reserves just called up, Gregoryisgodistan already has an estimated 150,000 troops in Hicana, with another 150,000 currently on their way to be dropped in by parachute.

In addition to those killed in Gregoryisgodistan, approximately 30 Gregoryisgodistani soldiers in Hicana have been killed. It is unclear how many have been wounded due to the fact that they will try to fight to the death if necessary. Furthermore, Hicanan authorities have captured about 25 soldiers. It is unclear what their fate will be - imprisonment, execution, or rebellion against the captors leading to the destruction of Hicana. For now though, the battle is only going to get bloodier.
