I can.

Righteous, go for it.

As it stands, my dance card is pretty full, so anyone else looking for friendlies might look elsewhere.

Here's the Strangers' friendly schedule as I see it:
@ Kaboomlandia Kings (KBM)
vs. Warriors FC (BNJ)
@ Jelle FC (ESN)
vs. Raedburg (USZ)

If any of my opponents feels strongly about site, we can negotiate. Also, if I can get scorinators for the other three matches, I'd be obliged.

EDIT: If anyone wants to friendly with a team other than Strangers, I'd be more than happy to scorinate.

Could you scorinate between us and the Kaboomlandia Kings? A home & home is our preference. Warriors FC have a +2 style modifier.

Which would put my friendly schedule as this(willing to add).

@Strangers FC(VLM)
vs. Kaboomlandia Kings(KBM)
@ Kaboomlandia Kings(KBM)

Kaboomlandia Kings 0–1 Warriors FC
Warriors FC 0–0 Kaboomlandia Kings (1-0 agg.)

Not a very exciting result, unfortunately.

Guys this is a discussion thread. Please take all friendlies to the Football Friendlies Thread, which can be used for club friendlies as well as internationals.

Also, it is possible for me to participate this season with a different team, but give up Rogerton Valladar CF's spot in the Championship and start again in the Conference?

I was debating where friendlies should go (discussion vs. ooc) but you're right. My bad.

If I take a good look at the sign-ups, we got…
Premier League:
7 active participants
4 latent participants
5 non-participants

Championship:
7 active participants
3 latent participants
6 non-participants

Conference:
19 participants

As one knows, I’m pro entering latent participants (posted a roster last season and did not CTE) but I’ll TG them again upon their intents. As it looks at the moment, I’m seeing two options.
Option 1: Small season with approximately 18 matchdays. The Conference split up in two groups. Next to the regular competition, there is also a Cup tournament.
Option 2: Large season with approximately 36 matchdays. The Championship and PL teams meet one another 4 times, the Conference is one division. Possibly no Cup tournament.

I’m heavily leaning towards option 1, to be fair.

I'd be for option 1 as well.
Also, I'm guessing 18 matchdays would mean relegating one team from the Premier League and Championship each (with the current numbers).

That's correct. I'ld personally look to elevating the number of teams in a third season to twelve in the two top tiers. So at least two would go up from the Championship (+ replacements) and four from the Conference.

An idea recently crossed my mind with a second season of the MPL - bearing in mind this idea is most definitely not unique and is in fact particularly common with association football, but I feel it would add to the realism of the competition.

Quite simply put, this idea is to give out awards to players and clubs alike at the end of every season (Player of the Year, Golden Boot, etc) for the overall competition and for the separate divisions. This idea stemmed from both RL awards handed out by football associations and competitions every year, and from a number of participants who gave awards at the end of last season.

Instead of limiting the award-giving to a small number of RPers who want to do so after a season, I thought that it'd be quite appropriate and actually quite interesting to make this part of the MPL bigger and, if you like, better. The idea I propose would be to create a thread for the awards at some point in the season, and to have every participant nominate one player (and one club, if such awards will be given out) whom they think should win each respective award (examples mentioned earlier). After all nominations have been taken in and counted, each award will be cut down to a 10-player and 10-club shortlist, and all participants can vote. Unless anyone else has more time than I do, I would be happy to run this award thread but I would require some assistance from other participants and possibly someone willing to make a logo.

Again, this is in no way unique and is simply just a proposal, and I'd like to hear what everyone else thinks of it - if they like it or not, or how they propose going about this.

Although I'd prefer the larger amount of matchdays , it'd be far more appropriate to utilize option 1 for this season, given the number of participants (and the fact that there is a cup tournament - which will be interesting). If we somehow manage to get to a decent number of participants for each division (ideally 20), then option 2 would be definite, but it is unlikely that will happen.

For the Conference, which has 19 clubs, I had two things in mind that you could take into consideration. One is to keep the Conference as a single division and have each club play the others once to total 18 games per club, and then automatically promote the top Conference club to the Championship and relegate the bottom Championship club to the Conference. Then, the second and third-placed Conference clubs contest a single or two-legged Conference playoff (whichever is preferred), and the winner faces the second-bottom Championship club in a promotion playoff (again, single or two-legged, whichever is preferred). Should the Conference playoff winner win the promotion playoff, they will swap places with the second-bottom Championship club, but should the Championship club win the promotion playoff, both will remain in their respective divisions.

My second proposal would be to keep the same fixture layout, but incorporate the splitting of the Conference into two groups. The winners of each Conference group would contest a promotion playoff and the winner of said playoff would swap places with the bottom club of the Championship.

Cross-posting from the original post on the Season 2 OOC.

I will be looking to loan or sell players from both of my MPL teams before this season starts, so if you want to get some of my players then either TG me or reply to this thread. (I haven't gotten the hang of IRC yet so don't expect to see me there anytime soon.) All players are from Abanhfleft unless otherwise noted. Will you invest in the future and get some young players, or will you want results immediately and go for some old but proven talent?

ARSENAL DE RELEINTHI PLAYERS FOR SALE/LOAN
Dickinson Hamada (CB, 28 y/o, NS$3.5 million)
Iwate Jamugka (CB, 24 y/o, NS$1 million) (sold to Sporting Sangti for NS$1.5 million)
Paul Leduc (Canada, LB/LCB, 25 y/o, NS$2.9 million or one to two-season loan)
Rohan Smith (England, RB, 17 y/o, one-season loan)
Zack Tatami (DM/RM, 25 y/o, NS$5 million) (sold to Dyatinsk Barbarians for NS$3.5 million + 20% on future sale)
Brendan Meeks (United States, CAM, 19 y/o, one-season loan)
Ismaeel Abdullatif (UAE, RW, 27 y/o, NS$9.1 million) (sold to That Team for NS$9.4 million)
Obaidullah Karim (Iran, CF/ST, 28 y/o, NS$8.5 million)
Konstantin Telsdoj (Russia, ST, 29 y/o, NS$3 million)

THEREISNOGODISTAN FC PLAYERS FOR SALE/LOAN
John Forte (RB, 23 y/o, NS$1 million or one-season loan)
Myles Littleton (RCB, 29 y/o, NS$3 million)
James Carlen (LB, 19 y/o, one to two-season loan)
Lloyd Beaird (LM, 30 y/o, NS$1.2 million)
Nick Sharlow (RM, 22 y/o, NS$750,000 or one-season loan)
Steven Hannan (CF, 26 y/o, NS$3.6 million) (sold to Sporting Sangti for NS$4 million)

You can still get these players before the official start of the MPL!

What would people say to the creation and voting upon of a constitution for the MPL? I know it may seem needlessly bureaucratic, but I think we are a complicated enough entity, being one of the only bodies with both open signups and promotion/relegation, that a governing document of some kind would be useful.

My proposal would be to form a constitutional committee of not more than five or six interested parties, ideally experienced NSsports users who were involved in seasons one and two of the MPL and are members of the WCC, WBA, IOC, or one of those bodies. These users would "meet" in a closed Google Doc and draft the constitution over a period of a few weeks, to be presented to the main body and voted on/amended at the close of the MPL season.

To be clear, this is not an affront to Buyan's outstanding job as host. As I recall, Buyan said he'd be interested in hosting the first season or two.

Thoughts?

Realistically, I'd say this isn't necessary. The existing system works fine, so really we already have a constitution, just not a written or codified one.

I mean... A written constitution isn't a bad idea, but this proposed method of creating one is needlessly long-winded, IMO. Why not just write down the existing, (presumably) agreed upon rules we already have? It could literally just be bullet points outlining the process; just enough that someone else could take over and apply the same judgements etc if Buyan is unavailable. That's all we need right now, surely?

We're coming towards the end of the MPL season 2. I will have to abstain from further hosting as you have seen that it is problematic to keep this pace up considering my personal life. As such, two questions.

A new host (or ‘president’, someone who opens sign-ups and searches for a host) would be welcome – I’m looking slightly into the direction of our active participants here. Please move that discussion to the OOC thread, as anything upon the format – by example, would a larger first tier and a system with only two tiers be admirable (to raise the amount of competition/RPers within?)?

While any system involving me as host would be doomed to fail, I'll put my name forward as president/organizer. I've been on NS in some capacity since 2004, participated in both incarnations of the NSPL/MPL, and hosted a few tournaments as Taijan.

I might think about dipping my foot back into the NS football's waters, as bad an idea as that may be. Not WC, but just MPL, for now. What's the prognosis on a season 3? I know that Buyan can't do it anymore, but was someone taking up the mantle? Venta de la Mesilla?

Anyway, debating a return of the Pikemen.

Pikemen might return.

I was considering taking up the job, but I have too much to get done at the moment. Perhaps I can take over in the fourth or fifth season, if we get as far as that.

The reigning champions, Raedburg, would love to return to the MPL to defend their title in the third season.
