The Starblaydi Football Association presents:

The Thirty-First Di Bradini Cup
a.k.a
The 52nd Under-21 World Cup

The Starblaydi Football Association presents, for the thirty-first time, the latest edition of its own Under-21 international tournament, now recognised as the direct successor to the old Under-21 World Cup.

This tournament is now named after Starblaydia's most-famous player, the first person to score for Starblaydia's own Under-21s, currently the fifth-highest goalscorer in Starblaydia's history, World Cup Winner, member of the World Cup Hall of Fame and one-time President of the World Cup Committee: Simeone Di Bradini. We present, for your participation: The 31st Di Bradini Cup, a.k.a. The 52nd Under-21 World Cup!

57 nations have come to Starblaydia. The Final will be held at the massive 196,754-capacity Stadii Di Bradini and there's everything to play for as the future stars of tomorrow compete to be crowned the premier Under-21 team in the world: World Champions!

The Pony Republic of Equestrian States
National U-21 Hoofball Team - Di Bradini Cup 31 Roster

Introduction
After a year full of disappointment for Equestrian hoofball fans at both the domestic and international levels, supporters' attention now turns to the Di Bradini Cup and the Little Ponies. While the Equestrian States' other national teams have had their ups and downs, the under-21 hoofball team has consistently done well year after year. Only once in seven tournaments have the Little Ponies not appeared in the second round, and few can forget the Equestrians' victory in the 27th Di Bradini Cup that launched the careers of several youths that now feature regularly for the senior national team. Despite the disappointment of missing the World Cup, the crushing agony of elimination from the Cup of Harmony on penalties, and the all-around disappointing performances of Equestrian clubs in UICA competition, supporters of the Little Ponies remain confident that their team will give them something to cheer for once again.

Last year saw the return of the Di Bradini Cup to its home nation as Starblaydia hosted the tournament for the first time in five years. The Little Ponies entered the competition with a fairly inexperienced squad headlined by a 21 year-old Pristina Shine who was expected to help lead the younger players to glory. Unsurprisingly, the unicorn striker was the player of the tournament for the Little Ponies, scoring six goals in five matches, though teenagers Krysia Bailey, Rumble, Apple Cobbler, and Rosie Tyler all impressed. The Equestrian States rolled through the group stage with a 2-2-0 record before finally meeting their match in an ambitious HopNation side. Although some had hoped to make it to the quarterfinals, most fans agreed that the Round of 16 was a reasonable achievement for a team lacking in international experience.

Unlike the team at DBC 30, this edition of the Little Ponies boasts both experience and potential even though only two 21 year-olds made the squad. Krysia Bailey, Rumble, Apple Cobbler, and Rosie Tyler should all continue to hone their talents in the hopes of using the competition as a springboard to reach the senior team, while Rosewing is expected to finally step out of the shadow of Pristina Shine to become the Little Ponies' main striker. Though this team lacks the big-name star that has defined the Equestrian squads of the past, it makes up for it with a deep bench full of potential. There isn't a lot to dislike about the Little Ponies' chances, and the quarterfinals seems to be the most realistic expectation for this year's team.

Kits

Like the national team, the Equestrian U-21 squad receives its kits from two different companies, though the design for each is the same. Kits for the humanoid players (see above) are provided by Kirola Sportswear of Audioslavia, while those for equine and other non-humanoid players are provided by Generosity Sporting Equipment. The Equestrian kits were designed to be simple and easy to identify, using the national colors of purple and orange.

On Species and Equestrian Hoofball
The Equestrian States is a nation of incredible diversity. When many countries make this kind of statement, they are referring only to racial matters dealing with differences in skin color or culture. But the Equestrian States takes diversity to a whole new level, with dozens of sapient species living alongside each other in harmony. From pegasai to griffons, and humans to dragons, the Equestrian States is among the most diverse nations known to exist. But diversity has also had a unique and intriguing impact on the playing of sports in the Equestrian States, and hoofball is no exception. In the following paragraphs, the natural strengths, weaknesses, and tendencies of each prominent species in the Equestrian States will be explored, offering those unfamiliar with the Equestrian States a chance to explore the wonderful diversity that makes the Equestrian States a great country and gives our beloved national hoofball team a versatility that few others can hope to match.

The Official Darvalian U-21 Roster For The Di Bradini Cup XXXI/Under 21 World Cup LII

Presented to you by

Quick Information & Formation

Official Nickname(s): The Calfs

Manager: Len Williamson

Head Coach: Noah Adman

Assistant Coach(es): Calvin Cooper, Vin Evans

Style Modifier: +3.5

Formation: 4-3-3

Image

Captain: Patrick O'Neil

Vice Captain: Andrew Wilson

Left Corner Taker: John Manning

Right Corner Taker: Yosuke Akamuri

Free Kick Taker: Aaron Hurst

Penalty Taker: Tony Powell

Playstyle

A largely attacking team, the Cubs mainly use the wings to subdue the opposing defenders. This makes captain and left-winger Patrick O'Neil, who moves forward more than the other winger, Aaron Hurst. O'Neil is the primary provider of passes to central forward Tony Powell, who is the most likely person to score.

Hurst has two main roles; providing passes to Powell, like O'Neil, but also serving as a backup striker, meaning that if Powell was to ever lose control of the ball or miss a shot, Hurst would be the one to recollect the ball. Hurst also is a specialist in free kicks, and is known for his deadly precision and fast reflexes. He is also considered as a "secondary player", as both of his main roles (backing up and providing passes to Powell) are not concentrated on Hurst himself, but rather on Powell.

All of the midfielders are very different; Andrew Wilson can be frequently seen with Hurst and the offense, while Yosuke Akamuri is oftentimes seen aiding the defense, while John Manning is almost always alone and is often seen as "the only midfielder" by fans.

The midfield is often invisible, because of the opposing play styles of the Wilson, Akamuri, and Manning. Akamuri and Wilson almost never go back into the midfield, but do if an opposing player in possession of the ball is blocked in the center of the field, as to help Manning and sometimes Hurst (who, as mentioned above, tends to be less of an attacker than O'Neil and Powell) to intercept the ball.

The defense, contrary to the midfield, is extremely organized. Paul Sullivan and Carl Moore, both in the central defense, can frequently move up and down the pitch, to aid in counter-attacks or clear the ball after offensive operations by the opposing team, and move back to block shots from the opposing offense. However, Sullivan and Moore always move back to their original positions after defensive and offensive movement.

Defensive wingers Gregory Parker and Jerome Dawson act similarly to Sullivan and Moore - they move up and down the pitch during defensive and offensive operations, but then immediately go back to their positions. Parker usually clears the ball by passing the ball to O'Neil, who is usually at the far end of the field, while Dawson usually clears by either passing to Manning, or, if under pressure, simply shoot the ball forward.

Kernansquillec squad information

Postby Kernansquillec » Mon May 12, 2014 5:55 am

Kernansquillec's Squad for the Di Bradini Cup 31

General Information
Kernansquillec is back. After the senior team made it to World Cup 57 and the U21 team twice finished 4th in the Di Bradini Cup, football in Kernansquillec came to a sudden halt as war broke out across the country. After reaching the playoffs of the World Cup 68 qualifying campaign despite being unranked this crop of players have shown that they have the same kind of quality to have graced the Green and White squad beforehand. Some players from that squad will get the chance to appear with the U21. However question marks are left concerning the other youth prospects that will be joining up with the national side. Will they be able to compete on the international stage?

Kernansquillec play forward going football with a style modifier of +3.0 in a 4-2-3-1 formation. All players in the squad play their football in the KERFA league system.

Kernansquillec are known to fans as the Green and Whites, the Kers or the Green Stallions. A big number of fans follow the team around and football is really more of a religion in Kernansquillec than a pastime. If Kernansquillec are playing at least one of the stands will be green.

Kernansquillec's FA, the KERFA, have their own official website with information on all things footbally. You can find it HERE. Please note the website shall not be updated during the Di Bradini Cup due to strikes (and OOC: my exams)

Starting XI
P.Lilac
M.Iris A.Noupen (C) Z.Poutre
G.O'Connor I.Zorm
H.Gashotov B.Destry M.Corren M.Cressac
H.Ferly (GK)

Substitutes
M.Tilly (GK) G.Seresimo J.Maynard K.Carrac M.Constantine

Squad Information

Hector FERLY GK, n.1, 18 years old (St Marie Youth Academy) - Senior team member
The 18 year goalkeeper is the other player from the U19 Premier League to feature in the senior squad, however was only number two and didn't feature in a WCQ game. A promising young player. But will he be able to impress at the DBC?

Mary CRESSAC RB, n.2, 20 years old (Mont Kate) - Senior team starter
One of only two players in the senior squad who have ties with former international players. Mary is one of three daughters who's father is Xavier Cressac, a former star midfielder of the Green & Whites, playing in the side that made it to the group states of WC57. A young and promising right back. She is the currently the number 1 right back for the senior side and appeared at WC68, helping Kernansquillec to reach the playoffs.

Hugo GASHOTOV LB, n.3, 17 years old (The Capital Young Guns) - U21 début
The 17 year old left back had a decent season in the St Libherr division this season and has deservedly got a place in the U21 team. He'll be making his U21 début and many back home will be keeping a keen eye on the young lad who is being tipped as a possible replacement for Julian Yegos, the senior team left-back who is also the left-back for defending league champions Guingamp.

Melodie CORREN CB, n.4, 16 years old (St Marie Youth Academy) - U21 début
The 16 year old defender is one of the youngest member but has been at the St Marie Youth Academy since the age of 7. At such a young age and already in the the U21's starting XI she could well be a star of the future.

Bobby DESTRY CB, n.5, 20 years old (Rennes du Nord) - U21 début
The 20 year old center-back wasn't really considered to be in contention for a place in the squad, but after a remarkable season with Rennes du Nord that saw them finish second despite being a newly promoted side to the First Division and a late injury to potential starter Jack Poulpe. Will he take his chance to make his mark?

Isabelle ZORM DM, n.6, 21 years old (St Marie) - Senior team member
After being relegated with St Marie Zorm led her side to an immediate promotion as Second Division champions, rejoining the top flight next season. She featured a couple of times off the bench at the World Cup.

Gary O'CONNOR DM, n.8, 19 years old (Louargat CDF) - Senior team member
After being relegated with St Marie Zorm led her side to an immediate promotion as Second Division champions, rejoining the top flight next season. She featured a couple of times off the bench at the World Cup.

Marie IRIS LM, n.7, 18 years old (St Markus Youth Academy) - Senior team starter
Marie is one of two players from the St Markus Youth Academy to have taken part at the World Cup. Fullbacks should be afraid of coming up against Marie. Her lightning pace and bizarre technical moves have seen her run past defender as if they were never there and score a number of goals. Many First Division sides are reportedly after her services for next season.

Zac POUTRE RM, n.9, 20 years old (Louargat) - Senior team starter
The 19 year old plays his football for Louargat. Despite a dire season that ended in relegation, Zac's performances for his club and country make him a diamond in the rough. A transfer away from Louargat is almost sure to take place this summer.

Adélaïde NOUPEN CAM, n.10, 21 years old (Guingamp) - Senior team starter
Adélaïde has been a key player for the national side and should also be so with the U21s. Her quality has been on show at the Globe Cup as well as at the World Cup. Her partnership with Lilac up front has torn many a defense apart in the league this season. The NOULI partnership is one that should be feared.

Peter LILAC ST, n.11, 19 years old (Guingamp) - Senior team starter
Peter is the second player in the squad who has a relation from a former World Cup squad. His father is of course the great Adam Lilac. It was reported that he had been killed in the bombing of Kernansquillec City at the start of the war, but it later turned out that the young Lilac had been pulled from the rubble by rescue workers. The young man led one of many post-war memorial processions, laying flowers at a memorial for the victims of the Kernansquillec City bombing which claimed the life of 95,000 civilians over 3 months, including his parents and older sister. Defense should be warned that his speed can pose a lot of problems. His set pieces are also something to be feared.

Morgane TILLY Substitute GK, n.12, 18 years old (Mont Kate Youth Academy) - U21 début
Tilly was the keeper at the heart of the second best defense of the St Libherr Division and the Di Bradini Cup will provide Morgane with a good experience of the ins and outs of tournament football.

Grégroire SERESIMO Substitute CB, n.14, 20 years old (Rennes) - U21 début
The center-back has been solid over the past two seasons, helping Rennes to qualify for the Globe Cup twice in a row. He should be a decent back-up in case of injury, especially since he is able to fill in as a defensive midfielder.

Justin MAYNARD Substitute RM, n.15, 17 years old (Louargat) - Senior team member
The right midfielder is currently evolving at Louargat and despite their awful season he is rated as a really good right winger and is often used as an impact substitute. With his pace he can pose a big threat to tired defenders late on.

Kéziah CARRAC Substitute LM, n.13, 16 years old (Guingamp U19) - U21 début
The 16 year old only got her chance to feature in the St Libherr Division this season and caught the eye of a the manager. Even if Guingamp's U19 had a fairly unimpressive season Kéziah has got her spot for the DBC and will surely be hoping to grab this chance with both hands.

Michael CONSTANTINE Substitute ST, n.16, 20 years old (Binic) - U21 début
The Binic forward was the surprise choice of the DBC squad. But he's been picked and the young forward scored 9 of his side's 10 league goals last season. Will it turn out to be an inspired choice or will it be a blank?

The Coaches

Amelia VAN DER PON, Manager
Van der Pon is the assistant manager of the Senior Side but takes command of the U21 side, assuring a seamless transition between the development sides and the Senior team. The faithful assistant of Sandheart was at New Southampton before they turned professional.

Benjamin LE BOULANGER, Assistant Manager
The 28 year old was never able to play football due to a birth defect to his right foot, but his love for football has led him to a career in management. He was handpicked by Van der Pon for the job and enjoys a close relationship with the players.

Set-piece takers

Captain: Adélaïde Noupen
Vice-captain: Mary Cressac (Third: Peter Lilac)
Penalties: Peter Lilac (if shoot-out: 2. Zorm 3. Poutre 4. Noupen 5. Cressac 6. Corren)

"Hello, good afternoon, and welcome to this special sportnyheter.vu bulletin on the u-21s national football team. When they say that life in the u-21s prepares you for life in the senior side, they're right. In youth football the result isn't always the thing that matters most, it's how you play and how you learn that counts. If you win, then all the better, but the aim is to learn, to train, and to do what the seniors do. Last tournament was the last one for manager Gregorz van der Riise, with the long-time Chicks servant finally calling it a day and moving abroad to manage. His apprentice, former Tern and all round good-guy Ole van Jendrisen now has the job full time, and he has some big shoes to fill. With a seriously talented year of players about to break into the side, van Jendrisen has everything he needs at his fingertips to go one further than the runners-up spot van der Riise managed two cycles ago. Good vintage? Let's find out."

GK
#1 - GK - Vincent Mohr - Age 20 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
#12 - GK - Dimitar Brandt-Caledon - Age 19 - Holdenberg (Eura)
#13 - GK - Mateusz Rosenmeyer - Age 19 - SK Aasiaat Harbour
"The coveted number one jersey has been handed to Vincent Mohr of Surtsey, with two goalkeepers new to the squad in the form of Bradnt-Caledon and Rosenmeyer. We've not seen anything from Rosenmeyer at SK Aasiaat Harbour just yet, but there are some very complimentary whispers coming out of Eura about Brandt-Caledon."

DEF
#2 - DR - Espen Erevik - Age 20 - East Franz Athletic
#3 - DC - Olaf Strauss - Age 20 - Red Star Severny - CAPTAIN
#4 - DC - Alexei Brannstrom - Age 21 - SC Montfort (The Licentian Islands)
#5 - DL - Kalle Oien Age 20 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
#18 - DR - Teitur Ronkainen - Age 18 - RSK Longyearbyen Town
#19 - DL - Oleg Borisenko - Age 20 - SK Franz Josef City
#21 - DC - Oscar Hammel - Age 20 - RSK Longyearbyen Town
#22 - DC - Amadeus Finn - Age 19 - Barbury Town (Apox)
#23 - DC - Marten Ortendahl - Age 20 - FC Axel Heiburg
"Red Star defender Strauss impressed van Jendrisen during the last tournament, and his mature performances whilst playing for Red Star during their successful Latitude Cup campign have seen him awarded the captain's armband here this tournament. Brannstrom and Ortendahl will join him in the expected back three of central defenders, with wing-backs Oien and Erevik completing the roster. The promising Borisenko and Ronkainen have also made the squad, whilst Amadeus Finn's late run of appearances for SC Kiel in Divisjon One appear to have rabbed him a spot at the last minute, as well as a move to Cygnus Cup champions Barbury Town of Apox."

MID
#6 - DMC - Ulrich Mortensen - Age 20 - FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls - Vice-Captain
#7 - AMC - Boris Jenssen - Age 19 - Red Star Severny
#8 - MC - Eidur Gunnlaugsson - Age 19 - FC Axel Heiburg
#14 - MC - Casper Vildalen - Age 20 - FC Ile Perrot (Sicoutimont)
#15 - DMC - Mats Jernemyr - Age 20 - Lac-Drouin St-Pierre (Sicoutimont)
#16 - AMC - Johannes Skjoldebrand - Age 18 - SC Kiel
#17 - MC - Robin Geirsson - Age 20 - FC Torshavn
"Ulrich Mortensen has retained his place in the squad since the last tournament - one of a few to do so - and he will be Strauss' number two in the side. Jenssen, Gunnlaugsson, and Geirsson all have a number of Divisjon One performances for fans to get excited about, but relatively little is known about Skjoldebrand, or the Sicoutimont-based pair of Vildalen and Jernemyr."

ATT
#9 - ST - Rauno Bickermann - Age 20 - Red Star Severny
#10 - ST - Finn Kirkkegaard - Age 19 - SK Nasjonale Hauker
#11 - TQ - Mateusz Wolff - Age 20 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
#20 - ST - Amyr Rosenmeyer - Age 19 - SK Franz Josef City
"Up front, van Jendrisen appears to have opted to select one more attacker than van der Riise tended to, and perhaps this will be reflected in the way the team play. Rauno Bickermann and mateusz Wolff will both be well known to fans of Divisjon One, whilst Amyr Rosenmeyer is just beginning to make his first appearances for SK behind their mightily impressive array of centre-forwards in the pecking order. Big news in the number ten shirt meanwhile, as van Jendrisen gives an u-21 opportunity to the grandson of the man who gave him his first caps for the Terns - Sol Kirkkegaard's grandson, Finn, has impressed for Nasjonale Hauker when he's had the chances, and now he'll get one for his country."

Probable Starting formation: 3-3-2-2
---------------------------------- Mohr ----------------------------------
----------------- Strauss ---- Brannstrom ---- Ortendahl ---------------
---- Erevik ------------------- Mortensen -------------------- Oien -----
------------------- Jenssen ----------------- Gunnlaugsson --------------
----------------------- Bickermann -- Kirkkegaard -----------------------

The Inevitable Syndicate Presents...
Image
The Inevitable Syndicate National Junior Football Team
For The Di Bradini Cup 31

Last Cycle's Di Bradini Cup, two years ago, didn't work out so well for the Syndicate. A tired, well used under 21 team that used to perform so well in their youth seemed to lack the pace and the drive needed to even break out the group stage. This cycle, however, things have changed. Most of the old team has grown up, and moved onto bigger and better football. And now we're bringing in the big guns. A team of eleven, specially selected for their fantastic performance in their respective teams (that consist of teams mostly on the third tier of the LigAnaia, with the exception of a select few, poles apart on the pitch). Their youth and new look on the game is hopefully enough to jump the youth team into winning for a change, and a victory at this Di Bradini Cup could be the career booster that some need to get picked for an ever increasingly competitive spot on the national team.

About The Sarian

On the third of March, 1843 a green and white flag was raised above a group of sixteen barren, cold and mountainous Islands for the first time. In the three centuries that have followed, The Royal Isles has faced separation, war and more crisis then can be remembered.

In the last 100 years, The Sarian has faced the rise and fall of communism, two civil wars , the independence of Lojal, the near independence of Kongelige and that Free Republics incident. But the new United Liberals government promised all of that was to change, so of course the exiled President of Yttribia, Andrew Grimaldi comes to The Sarian and destroys relations between to isles and their Esportivan neighbours , a member of the Executive Council (Cabinet to non-Sarian folk) turns out to be a paedophile, the capital city moves and scientists are warning of impending natural disasters (Which The Florican Party blaims on homosexuals). Unsurprisingly, the government was recently taken down by a Parliamentary vote, with elections happening in a months time. As for the monarchy, King Nicholas III is one year away from his Bronze jubilee, and he has never been more unpopular, with some people calling for his abdication, in replace of his eldest daughter, Isabella.

Schiavonia announce their squad for Di Bradini Cup 31

It's OK, they're young. We don't know much about them, either. Likewise, we're not sure what the name for a young sloth is. A Young Sloth? It'll do...

A GUIDE TO SCHIAVONE PLAYING POSITIONS

Schiavone football teams generally play in a 4-3-3 formation, but the different positions are not always referred to in normal terms. The goalkeeper (GK) and centre-backs (CB) are as normal, but the rest are not so clear cut.

The left-back (LB) and right-back (RB) are very important in attacking, and generally one attacks down the wing while the other one comes in and covers as a third centre back. They revert to a back four when defending.

Ball winner (MB) is a midfield position that does exactly what you think. They sit in midfield to protect the defence and win the ball back for the team.

A distributor (MD) is a player with very good passing skills, and can switch play or unlock a defence with one pass, but can keep it simple if the situation requires it.

The creator (MC) is a player who runs at defenders with the ball before either shooting or, more often, laying it off for someone else to have an effort on goal. They are good at attracting defenders and so making space for team mates.

The runner (FR) is a player who can run away from defenders - either using pace or skill - and make chances for themselves and/or others with this advantage.

The strength (FS) is what most people would call the big man up front - strong, with a good first touch, and generally impressive heading ability.

Finally, the finisher (FF) is a player who has an uncanny knack of being in the right place at the right time to stick the ball into the goal with an unerring regularity.

So there you have it. A guide to the Schiavone style of playing football. Hope that was helpful.

So who are they? Well...

COACH
Kenny Sanderson VI (age 53)

Kenny might be the National Team coach, but with such a small pool of players and the DBC taking place in the off-year for the Schiavone full squad, it is also his responsibility to take charge of the Under-21s, too. This also gives the younger players a chance to learn about his management style, and a glimpse into how the seniors are run.

GOALKEEPERS
1) Orlando Smith (Male, 20, Petardos S/A Craw)
2) Fernando Kershaw (Male, 15, Project +90 Schiavonia)
3) Andreas Portas (Male, 19, Craw Hawks)

DEFENDERS
CENTRE BACKS
11) Rebecca Sallad (Female, 21, Yellow Stars)

Rebecca was the outcome of a dalliance between a Schiavone and a Jerusalemite at World Cup 63. She was in the full Schiavone squad for the World Cup 68 cycle, but rarely featured, and is thus expending her international experience here.
12) Mika Hakinae (Male, 19, Garundia Kickball)
13) Kalko Ramao (Male, 17, Project +90 Schiavonia)
14) Ivan Marsden (Male, 16, Project +90 Schiavonia)

LEFT BACKS
15) Helena Unibo (Female, 19, Petardos S/A Craw)
17) Donald Jones (Male, 18, Monarchs)

RIGHT BACKS
16) Apple (Cristiano Frederico Moisés de la Cruz Apple Male, 18, Project +90 Schiavonia)
18) Gavin Neil (Male, 17, Monarchs)

MIDFIELDERS
BALL WINNERS
21) Gaga Roulaa (Male, 18, Project +90 Schiavonia)
24) Banda Meluo (Male, 16, Project +90 Schiavonia)

DISTRIBUTORS
22) Horatio Benesares (Male, 17, Project +90 Schiavonia)
25) Emma Smith (Female, 21, Cricket Schiavonia)

To be honest, Emma is better wielding a cricket bat than kicking a football, but she's a good all-round athlete, and promises that she'll be good enough if called upon.

CREATORS
23) Elsa Blige (Female, 18, Monarchs)
26) Kelly O'Henry (Female, 21, Yellow Stars)

FORWARDS
RUNNERS
31) John Blige (Male, Age 21, Monarchs)

Adding a touch of star quality to the squad, Blige was a regular starter for the Sloths during their previous campaign, and should be amongst the squad's better players here. He even played as finisher in the Cup of Harmony group stage win against Gregoryisgodistan, showing that he is more than just a one-trick pony. (Note - John is not an actual pony.)
34) Godiva (Alicia Blige AguazulFemale, 18, Petardos S/A Craw)

STRENGTHS
32) Lika Kalimbaa (Male, 18, Project +90 Schiavonia)

Lika is the son of the leader of the Garundi people, and so a lot is expected of him. Garundi teams play in a defensive formation, as opposed to the traditional Schiavone formation, and so a lot is demanded of their forwards to bring others into play.
35) Rala Baboo (Male, 20, Redskins)

FINISHERS
33) Antonio Park (Male, 19, Petardos S/A Craw)
36) Alessandro Schiavone (Male, 16, Project +90 Schiavonia)

The lower numbers tend to be first choice in each position, but if you're picking a team for me, don't be afraid to include a few who are not. Set pieces are taken by the distributor, apart from penalties (and some direct free-kicks) which are taken by the finisher.

Schiavonia re-started in international football with a population of just 700 and two clubs, but have now expanded to ten times that with additions to their population from the nation of Garundia (red-skinned primitives who have links to the original Schiavonia, their homeland was destroyed by a volcanic eruption) and a Schiavone ethnic population from the former Cafundéu. One of Schiavonia's original 46 islands then emerged from the ocean between Audioslavia and Thatius, thus giving the new Schiavone population - which had outgrown its tiny island home - a new place to live.

When Schiavonia decided to return to the international football scene, they realised that the kits they had in storage were designed almost 150 years ago. So they got in touch with the lovely people at Barrengeka in Astograth, because trees are nice, so having one on the kit would look lovely, too.

Image

Games in Schiavonia will take place on The Field, which has a capacity of around 6,000. There will be a main stand for 5,000 away fans, and the locals will stand around the edge of the pitch. Not that this part is relevant for tournaments where games are all at neutral venues in a host nation. But Starblaydia is not too far from Schiavonia, so pop over for a holiday, if you like. It's very nice!

What else can we tell you about Schiavonia? The people are very friendly (sometimes, too friendly for their own good.) They are incredibly honest, peaceful (apart from the Garundi players, who are noticable by their surnames ending in double vowels) and play as fairly as possible (e.g. deliberately missing penalties if they believe that they have been awarded them incorrectly). They love a celebration. They live on a small island with a pleasant climate. They stem from a surprisingly range of ethnic backgrounds (helped by some of the friendliness and celebrations). And the new Schiavone-Cafundélese population are working to make Craw - the nation's largest settlement, with a local population of just 3,000 - into one of the top sun-seeking tourist destinations in the multiverse.

Right, all of that stuff on the form that needs dealing with. Schiavonia play with a +2 style modifier, and you can do what you like with regards to our matches. Although, if there's anything major going on, it'd be nice to consult the SFF's storyline department first. But really, though... Permissions? Where's the fun in them!?!

If the SFF think of anything else worth mentioning, you will be the first to know!

competing for

The 31st Di Bradini Cup

Staff
Manager: Aldrich SING (39)
A former coach of the senior squad, he got his first taste of management when he took over gaffer duties from Niccolo Abundo at the Market Cup VII in Mapletish. He is strict in terms of fitness and diet, but is compassionate on the pitch. He rarely shouts at the players except in situations that is very unfavorable to his team. An example of this is when the team is more than three goals down at their own turf. Sing has not yet managed a club, but he had worked in Atletico Viocla, a current third division club as a coach and a former player.

Assistant Manager: VACANT
Aldrich decided not to replace Cush Bulayugan, assistant for the U21 Agilang Dilaw who went to Real Cintore and led them to their first league championship.

Coaches: Exequiel Dimanlig (53), Daryl Serapio (57), Marx Pelayo (56)
Physio: Miro Donalvo (former Olympique Leonde keeper and older brother of Masahiro Donalvo, 36)

Style: +3.24
Adapted from Jaime Faltado's attacking style, Sing uses his midfield to create chances by feeding the ball to the strikers to create open spaces. He also ensures that the midfield is adept in shooting long balls if neccesity or opportunity arises.
Formation: 4-4-2, sometimes switching into 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-1-2.

Buyan Di Bradini Cup

Manager: Sirius Hope, Image

Much to his own surprise, Sirius Hope was not sent to the German American States or Felix, but to Starblaydia to compete in the Di Bradini Cup. The man who brought a whole new vibe into Buyanese football by qualifying the team to the World Cup must now lead the youngsters. On top of that, it appears that the national leader, Kazys Portnii, selected as if it were a U23 tournament.

After the initial announcement of the Audioslavia Under-21 squad, the first port of call for the media, even before the ridiculous kits and the questions over the reasons for the return of Audioslavia's youth side, was to address the inclusion of the sandy-haired terrier-like centre forward Ronda Jude Styrn.

'RJ', if she plays in the tournament (as most suspect she will) will become the first female to represent Audioslavia in the country's long and distinguished history. The idea of her in the famous colours of Audioslavia is a salivating one to those who have seen the energetic, hard-working forward play.

Before we get further onto the subject of RJ Styrn, however, a quick word about 'those' Audioslavia kits. The under21s have traditionally not worn the famous claret and green stripess of the full national side, with the explanation being that the players are yet to truly 'earn their stripes'. That three of the current line-up have earned full caps in the past does make a mockery of this rule, of course, but Kirola and the FFA have been keen to uphold tradition.

Audioslavia has now had a season to get used to the idea of female footballer. Females in Audioslavia have long been the 'weaker' sex and, though that remains true as a matter of genetics, RJ Styrn proved while still a second division player that Audioslavian women could, at their best, compete with the men on a physical level. Styrn may be just five feet and six inches tall, but makes up for it with her tenacious pressing play when her side are chasing the ball and keen eye for goal when attacking.

RJ had become a minor celebrity as a sideshow in the second division, but Cazadores Cathair's promotion to the LigAnaia 1 has propelled the diminutive striker into the limelight, and Styrn's form has been rewarded with a call-up to the under twenty-one squad, with the full team possibly not too far in the future.

The entire side has a distinct maroon-and-gold feel, with nine of the twenty-man (and woman) squad either trained by or playing for recently promoted Cazadores Cathair. New Under 21s manager David 'Aelsh' Riley, however, comes from city rivals Shamrock.

When asked why there weren't more Shamrock Cathair players on the roster, Riley responded with a scratch of his head. "I'd rather just talk about the national team, not my club's form, thanks.."

NEW SIDEBURN U-21s
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: Low on possession, but high on pressure, with fast play and short passing. Very physical, quite pacy. This team in particular will use power on the wing to bomb the ball forward at the centre-forward.
Kit Supplier: Cloaker
Nickname: The Magpies

Darryl Boyden has acidly commented on a belief endemic in the Premiership that 'a career starts at twenty-three'. Several managers have come out to reply that the fact that a talented youth generally cannot coast in the Premiership without experience is surely a sign of strength - either way, for better or worse, the bulk of this team comes from the respectable First Division. Boyden has been an avid supporter of the ability of Sideburnese youth, as proven by the Treason academy making the finals of the Youth Cup so very recently, and of the exploits of the recent Project +90 team (now in the Second Division) - but right now, the Magpies will consider the knockout stages their minimum goal, and hope of glory probably out of reach.

At least this time, the official nickname of 'Magpies' lends them slightly more dignity, compared to the former nickname. 'Hatchlings'. The Whip, Auburn Bywater, was behind the change, citing 'hatchlings' as an admission of the team as an unfinished product.

Darryl BOYDEN - 54
Manager

Boyden, whose short and chequered managerial career has been plagued with bad luck and debt, took the job basically because it couldn't possibly be worse than working with Vermillion. He's proven himself in the hot seat so far, and appears to be growing fond of the job - a surprise, to most people who know the rather irritable man.

Auburn BYWATER - 29
Assistant Manager

In a curious decision, Auburn Bywater was appointed assistant manager of the U-21 squad. The suspicion among the press is that Jess Mortlock is grooming her for the managerial role - as indeed did Gethin Ramsey back in the day.

Goalkeepers
1 - Cath Gilchrist (Cypher Town) - Age 20
12 - Rachel Schroeder (North Rathia, BRE) - Age 21
20 - Steed Corren (Project +90) - Age 18

The weakest area of the team - the Magpies have been blessed with players like Cromwell and Ballard between the posts in the past, but a First Division starter, an A-League cup goalkeeper and a teenager makes a less-than-illustrious team. Still, Gilchrist is a capable shot-stopper, and won't let the team down.

2 - RB - Rachael Kellen (Violence Chariots) - Age 21
3 - LB - Catheline Stockinger (Crisisbless, vc) - Age 21
5 - CB - Steed Fowler (Extreme Hills) - Age 20
6 - CB - Rook Kennedy (North Laithland) - Age 21
13 - LB - Bertha Scunthorpe (Bishop) - Age 21
17 - CB - Rebecca Larkland (Leichhardt) - Age 19
19 - RB - Alex Beckett (Coret Hawks) - Age 21
22 - CB - Kieran Ritter (Project +90) - Age 17

A lot of players on 'the right side of 21' in defence, vice-captain Stockinger good enough to contend for but just miss out on a spot in the CE team - and many felt she was unlucky. The heart of defence might be a little fragile, with no consistent Premiership starters, but it's not to be scoffed at either.

4 - CM - Markus Stubbs (Crisisbless) - Age 20
7 - RM - Tanya Bottlegreen (Chenoworth Harriers) - Age 21
8 - CM - Elaine Ashdown (Iron City, c) - Age 19
11 - LM - Rutger Connacht (AFC Treason) - Age 21
14 - CM - Jayce Fincheon (Goodfeather FC) - Age 21
16 - CM - Paula Morton (Sutcroft) - Age 18
18 - LM - Brigid Kestrel (Crisisbless) - Age 19
23 - RM - Brendan Rivers (Extreme Hills) - Age 20

Bottlegreen typically plays on the left for club, but her numbering implies a switch of flanks - largely, it must be said, due to lack of competition. Left midfield is the strongest area for the team by far, with Connacht and Bottlegreen both starting in the Premiership, and Kestrel has had a couple of great seasons on loan in the First Division. With Stubbs and Fincheon on the fringes for their teams and the Magpies' captain Ashdown a star in Iron City's bid for promotion, this is the strongest part of the team by a distance.

9 - CF - Felix Keller (Ritter Town) - Age 20
10 - CF - Felix Schwarzenegger (Westpike, BRE) - Age 21
15 - CF - Sheila Maddon (Crisisbless United) - Age 19
21 - CF - Michael Kellard (Project +90) - Age 18

Without any Premiership-experienced players, granted, but the two Felixes both have experience at decent clubs - Ritter promoted with Keller consistently up front, target-man Schwarzenegger leading Westpike to a decent finish in the A-League. Maddon netted a respectable fourteen last season in the First Division, but a reputation for hot-headedness sometimes cost her with two red cards, while Kellard was yet another of the stars in the Project +90 Cup winners.
The old ways were best!

Original nation behind Nephara. New Sideburn now symbolises an ideal, rather than a nation.

Founded on 1970, the Arceusian Republic of Northern Sunrise Islands is easily known as the stalemate of Esportivan economy, the originators of the always popular Vulpine Sportif line of boots and other sports equipment, the extensive Sunrise Championship and lower leagues, its' rather colorful Sunrise Hockey League, its' religion known as the Arceusism. Or, in case you want to know, Northern Sunrise Islands was the team who won a Di Bradini Cup not too long ago that kickstarted the reign of Val Kylx as a coach and the proper NT rise of Abuda at the national team. The team now celebrates the Month of Saint Vaporena, the month where the Saint of the Seas is prayed for. As a tidbit, the NSIFC decided to value the most cherished level of their national team by featuring the nation's crest, the stars representing each Youth level title they won and the image of Saint Vaporena to prove their faith. Vulpine Sportif has even been called back only to do their kits as the main Sunrisian-born kitwear.

Hutt River national U-21 team Di Bradini Cup 31 roster

Manager: Rolf Klaus, 40
Fresh off his 18 year long playing career at several different top league clubs as well as being a regular in the national squad, Klaus has taken his first step into management as the head of the recently formed U-21 squad. Klaus was one of the main voices for the creation of the side, saying that it's unfair that so many young players get thrown into the national squad without any prior international experience. His position is only expected to be temporary and a more experienced manager is expected to step in soon after this DBC. Klaus has said that he is under no pressure to perform during the tournament, and is delighted at the opportunity to hone his management skills before moving onto club management.

Assistant: Lee Hunt, 37
Hunt's selection as Klaus' assistant surprised a few as they thought he would've picked a manager with previous experience at club level to help him out. Hunt, who is still playing semi-regularly for Forford but has retired from international football, is a close friend of Klaus' and has been linked with a few vacant jobs further down the league system despite his insistence that he wants to carry on at Forford until "his legs get too old".

"I'm Jenny Jones..."

"...and I'm Kevin Smith..."

"...and this is the Sound of the Sloths!"

"Well, the Young Sloths."

"Well, yes, indeed it is the Young Sloths, as we have made the relatively short journey from our new homeland to Starblaydia, where the thirty-first Di Bradini Cup is about to begin for fifty-seven under-21 teams, and this includes a team from Schiavonia since... well, we're not sure if there has ever been a team from Schiavonia involved. If so, then it was in the very early days of the competition that we don't have the records for here."

"Well, we didn't have enough players until recently."

"True."

"You forgot to mention the sponsors!"

"Well, that's only because you interupted me! This show is sponsored by...Image."

"How did you do that?"

"Do what?"

"Talk in pictures?"

"That's just the power of Schiavonia. It's such a beautiful place to come to that even simply suggesting to people that they should visit Schiavonia is enough to paint wonderful images in their minds."

"But that was the logo."

"Well, until people have been, I guess that's all they can really imagine."

"You can be peculiar sometimes, Jen. Brilliant, but peculiar."

"Well, I guess I'll take that as a compliment. As it is, we're talking about the Di Bradini Cup, or DBC."

"That is much easier to say."

"Isn't it just? Anyway, this DBC is the first to be expanded beyond thirty-two teams, and this one has fifty-seven. The organisers have put twenty-seven teams through to the first round, while the other thirty teams are playing off in ten groups of three."

"Doesn't that come to thirty-seven? What kind of a number is that?"

"Well, it would do if only the group winners went through, but the three best second-placed teams will be going through, too."

"So, forty, then?"

"You've clearly been swotting up somewhat since the Cup of Harmony, Kev!"

"Well, I learned important lessons there, Jen."

"You did! What were they?"

"To learn lessons."

"Ah, OK."

"And to try and learn a few things. So I went on a course."

"And what was that course?"

"First Class Mathematics."

"First Class?"

"Yes. The top level! Although it was pretty simple, if you ask me."

"Are you sure you didn't mean first grade?"

"That was it, yes."

"First grade is the first level at school."

"Oh. So that's why it seemed easier than the Third Class Mathamatics."

"You did them in reverse order?"

"I just thought I was getting better."

"Oh Kev. At least you tried."

"I did."

"And you did some good maths, there. But anyway, Schiavonia are in the thirty that need to qualify."

"Why?"

"Well, I would assume that the twenty-seven who have been put through were done so on previous records."

"Oh. And we don't have one?"

"Exactly. So we have been put in a three team group that, if we're honest, is going to be tough to get out of."

"And why is that?"

"Well, the opponents we will be coming up against."

"Who are?"

"Silver Rainbow Fumes..."

"Who?"

"Well, I'm not entirely sure. I'll be honest, they're not the team that I'm as worried about, though they are an unknown quantity and anything could happen."

"True, Jen. And the fumes might affect the players."

"They could. But, first up, the Young Sloths will be up against Zenic."

"We'd beat them on alphabetical order!"

"I don't think that is in the criteria for finding a winner, Kev. "

"Oh."

"But Zenic's full side won the Baptism of Fire last time out, and are one of the best up-and-coming football nations out there."

"Like Schiavonia are?"

"Well..."

"Did they make the play-offs at World Cup 68?"

"Well..."

"No."

"But their under-21 players will have some experience of playing competitive football, whereas most of ours... well, the league hasn't started yet."

"Had any of our players before the last AOCAF?"

"Where we one game against a team who were wetting themselves with laughter at our shirts."

"It was still Audioslavia!"

"It was about their third of fourth choice team, though. So I don't think we can consider ourselves a match for them. We are an unknown quantity, too."

"Apart from John Blige."

"Well, of course apart from John Blige, who has been brilliant for Schiavonia's first team for the last three years."

"He's going to be brilliant for Schiavonia for the next three World Cup cycles."

"As long as he stays fit, he will, yes. A great combination of pace and skill. But anyway, I need to ask now, how do you think we are going to do?"

"Do you really need to ask?"

"OK, Kev thinks we're going to win the whole thing, and I think we're going to go out in the qualifying stage. And I'll be proved right."

"Yeah, right!"

"I will. And that's it for now. That was the Sound of the Young Sloths, sponsored by Visit Schiavonia."

"But do we not largely broadcast to Schiavonia?"

"Well, yes..."

"So why do they need to advertise to people who already live in Schiavonia?"

"We're international broadcasters, Kev! SIBN, Schiavone International Broadcasting Network. So the advertising is for them."

"Fair point."

"So that's goodbye from us here in Starblaydia. We'll be back when Schiavonia take on Zenic for what will be a massive game for both sides in this competition. We don't know what to expect from these Young Sloths, but let's just see how it goes. For now, though, bye-bye."

"Bye!"
