The Federation of Atlantian Football Associations invites nations to sign-up for the Fourth Atlantis Football Cup.

It has been some time since the last Cup and we have decided to bring it back. Non-Atlantians are, as usual, welcome to participate. Announcements from the President and co-hosts will be posted in this thread. In order to sign-up for the Cup, please either telegram The Atlantis Football Cup or post your intention to sign-up as a reply to this thread. Lemmingtopias and Jarrinan will co-host the Tournament.

Sign-Ups actually began last week game-side but several nations have requested that the Cup be hosted on the NS forum and so the thread is being opened here. Therefore, I must apologise for this thread being made so soon before the beginning of the tournament. We expect the Cup to begin on or near the 27th April, 2014.

The Deadline for sign-ups is 25th April. It is permitted to use puppets in order for a player to play as more than one nation.

About Lemmingtopias

Lemmingtopias is a large nation located in the South of the Atlantis continent. Weather and terrain varies from city to city, and there shall be games played in the heat of the South, the cold of the North, the wet of the East and the unforgiving winds in the West. Of course, most of the country is not so extreme in weather and the majority of games will be played in the mild midlands.

Founded some three-thousand years ago, Lemmingtopias is part-republic with a nominal theocratic element. The Sages have been Head-of-State for five-hundred years, though their position is now titular. Most Lemmingtopians follow the traditional faith based on the worship of nature. The population is around 675 million.

Lemmingtopias is a keen footballing nation, usually surviving till the last rounds of the tournament in previous Atlantis Football Cups. Other popular sports are cycling, athletics, gymnastics and swimming. The Cup Final will be held in the much celebrated Freedom City Football Stadium, located just south of the Capital City – set upon the sea itself.

About Jarrinan

Jarrinan is situated in the North of the Atlantis continent. The beautiful landscape and weather is enjoyed by many tourists as well as our 10.5 million citizens who are known for their compassion and niceness.

Although liberal, crime is totally unknown in Jarrinan, it is very safe here. Hobbies and sports are embraced in our nation, this includes football. Education is one of our main priorities, and talent has come from this. There are many young athletes who will want to get involved in the Football Cup.

The low wage gap in our nation will help to ensure all citizens have a fair chance to watch the football cup and take advantage of the opportunities that hosting it will bring. As a nation new to the Football cup, this will be a great experience for us.

Format
The Atlantis Football Cup Finals will follow a 16-team format split into groups of four. Each team in a group will play each other once and the winner and runner-up shall progress to the Quarter-Finals. In the Group Stages, teams will be ranked on points (3 for a win – 1 for a draw – 0.3 for a goal), then goals scored, then goal ratio (goals scored – goals conceded). If teams still tie, the winner of the match between them shall qualify.

3 scorinator points will be given per win and 1 per draw. 0.2 points will be awarded per goal. A bonus will be provided for roleplay. This shall consist of between 0.5 and 1.5 points per day for those who make rp posts. This total score will be divided by the amount of possible games played and the score accumulated throughout the Cup Finals will be divided by 7 then multiplied by 8.

Qualifying/Preliminaries shall take place prior to the Cup. These wont be available for role-play due to the time constraints. Each nation will play each other nation twice, forming a league from which the top fourteen teams will go through to the Atlantis Football Cup finals. The co-hosts will automatically qualify. These preliminary matches will also determine starting KPB rankings for the tournamant.

From the start of the Cup Finals, teams will be able to designate attacking/defensive styles by informing the hosts. A scale of -5 to +5 will be used, with the positive being an attacking style and the negative a defensive style. This can be changed at any time throughout the competition. We shall use xcorinate scorinate.
