Once the host is chosen and the tournament thread is up, that's where your team rosters go. This thread is purely OOC for gathering sign-ups and host bids.

I'm afraid hosting isn't quite as simple as saying 'Yes please, I'll host'

The host is generally required to have a working knowledge of using a scorinator and have gathered a certain degree of respect within the NSSports community by RPing within other tournaments.
As such, I'd recommend simply participating at this point. Get involved in some other tournaments happening around the forum, learn more about what the forum expect of their hosts and when you feel comfortable you can do this, go for it.

So there's circa 55 hours left of the initial sign-up window and as yet, not a single whisper of a host bid.
If anyone out there's looking to bolster their hosting CV with a recognised World Championships, apply below. Please ...

Sign-ups will remain open until 23:59GMT on April 30th upon which they will be frozen and sign-ups after this time allowed at the discretion of the eventual host.

The sporting administrations of Nassau-Hessen and Menukten humbly submit this bid for the Rugby League World Cup XIII.

Why Should We Host? (Nassau-Hessen)

I'm glad you asked! First off, we are a very passionate sports nation, and we are very dedicated to attention and detail in events that go into this, we have dirtied our hands enough with experience, we believe, to host such an event. We have a National Rugby League system of our own (of which we will use the stadiums of, as we conveniently have six teams in our premier league playing in different fully operating venues around the nation) that is devoted to the sport. Nassau - Hessen has been in the Rugby League World Cup once before, and the national squad is still searching for a win, therefore there will be much anticipation and emotion from the locals at the games. The laws and views are fairly neutral in Nassau. We hope to make all participants and visitors feel right at home during the tournament, while also being able to smoothly organize and run the grand event in a way that will leave a lasting imprint on the people that both watch and attend games. Menukten will offer some of the best score keepers and referees in the multiverse due to their extreme sense of neutralism and passiveness. They will be the main organizers of the tournament statistically. We encourage the players to explore what the wonderful cities of Nassau have to offer from historical sights to nightlife in the city.

Why Should We Host? (Menukten)

Well, we're pretty active here on NSSports and we're always looking ways to be helpful and get involved in tournaments. We've hosted our own soccer invitation (details below), restarted the Ultimate Cup, created the system for Ultimate rankings and scorinated our own domestic sportswire. Rugby is a new sport in Menukten and we believe that hosting the Rugby League World Cup will provide the impetus for Menukten to start its own domestic professional league. Additionally we are always looking at ways to be involved in the international sporting community and foster comradely, friendship and understanding between our people and others through a mutual love of sports. We humbly submit this bid for consideration and, if it is chosen, will undergo our duties with honor.

What Is Nassau Like?

Nassau is on the cold side on terms of weather, but should be fairly comfortable those accommodated to warm climates should most likely dress warm for the event. Laws are for the most part, standard and neutral. Just don't do anything stupid like murder or thievery and you should be fine. Culture is over flowingly rich in Nassau, and we highly recommend for you to visit museums and historical sights. We also have various professional gymnasiums and other training facilities for exercise and practice. Nassauites are also social creatures, we have a variety of food and drink to warmly offer in fine eatery establishments from stands to nightclubs to fine dining. The Hessen are familiar to a Rugby League, it was the very first international athletic tournament that the Hessen ever enrolled in, so the people are greatly indebted to the cup for their humble beginnings.

Logistics

Menukten doesn't really have the infrastructure to host a large tournament, and so it has joined up with Nassau-Hessen to cohost the Rugby League World Cup XIII. Menukten will be providing the referees and other sporting officials while Nassau-Hessen will provide the venues. OOC, Menukten will be scorinating while Nassau-Hessen grades the RPs.

Format

We'll run a single round robin for the group stages. As it stands now, with 40 signups, we will do 8 groups of 5 with the best two in the group qualifying for the Round of 16. As signups close tomorrow, we are not expecting many more and, if we win the bid, will probably close signups permanently to keep the groups even. However if we get to 42 before that time, we will do 7 groups of 6, with the best two in each group receiving byes to the Round of 16 and the best four third seats participating in a playoff round to determine the last two seats.

Seeding for the knockout stages will be done off of group stage results, excluding playoffs. We will reseed the teams after every round.

Tiebreakers will be in this order: Points (2 for win, 1 for draw), GD, GF, Tie-breaker match.

Schedule

Tentative Schedule:

April 30th- signups closed, bid voting
May 3rd- Everything Thread goes up
May 5th- Matchday 1/ roster and first RP cutoff
May 6th- Matchday 2
May 7th- Matchday 3
May 8th- Matchday 4
May 9th- Matchday 5
May 10th- Break
May 11th- Playoffs
May 12th- Round of 16
May 13th- Quarterfinals
May 14th- Semifinals
May 15th- Third place match
May 16th- Finals

RP bonuses

We will be grading RPs from 0-0.5 in integers of .10, which will be added directly to your skill setting. Our RP cutoff will be around 8:00 Eastern Standard Time in the United States. We will warn you in advance if it is earlier.

As hosts, Menukten and Nassau-Hessen will receive an initial 1.5 point bonus, divided between two RP cutoffs. We will not receive any RP bonuses beyond this, though we may RP if we wish.

Third party scorinators will be used in all knockout matches involving our nations.

Scorinator

xkoranate 0.3.3. will be used, with SQIS formula.

Experience

Menukten:

This is the part of our bid in which we, admittedly, are lacking in contrast to our competition. Menukten is a new nation, only recently arrived two months ago. And yet in that time Menukten started his own domestic sports thread, successfully renewed interest in and restarted the Ultimate Cup as well as hosting his own soccer Invitational, The Lion Cup. Menukten is also planning on starting the World 3x3 Basketball Championship after the International Basketball Championship, and wrote a scorinator for 3x3 basketball to do so. Menukten is also the author of the formula to determine Ultimate rankings, which will be used in the next Ultimate Cup.

Nassau-Hessen:

While Nassau-Hessen has not hosted anything, he is an up-and-coming user on the forums who has been here for 6 months and has won several sporting awards including the Women's Hockey Bronze at the Arçon Olympics, 12th Handball World Cup Champions, 18th World Lacrosse Championship runner-ups, and champions of The Spartakiad Games.

Conclusion

We know it is hard to trust relatively new nations like ourselves with a championship of this caliber, so we have run a mock up of the Rugby League World Cup, so you can judge for yourself whether we would be competent enough to host this competition.
