INTERNATIONAL BASEBALL SLAM 5 - JECKLAND BID

IC Info

Jeckland is a large nation in The Jeck Empire. It has a population of 100 million and tends to be right/central politically. The prime minister for 35 years has been Jeck Hitchkin. The Jeckish are sports crazy, although baseball is not widely played there are several stadiums in the nation.

Format and Tiebreakers
I will split the teams into groups, they will play home and away fixtures in these groups. Then the top eight (possibly sixteen, if we get a high enough amount of signups) will go through to the knockout phase, playing best of three series in Jeckland. The final will be best of five, with a best of three third place playoff.

1. H2H W-L
2. H2H run differential
3. H2H runs for
4. Overall run differential
5. Overall runs for
6. Playoff Game/Games

Scorination and RP
I will use the baseball function on the latest version of xkoranate, with the NSFS3 function enabled. A culminative RP bonus will be in effect, with a maximum bonus of 2.5 per day, and a minimum of 0. If more than one post is made by a user in one matchday, then this will be graded as one RP. The only exceptions will be before the first matchday, where in addition to RP you may post a roster, max bonus 5.

Experience
Been around about four months, set up the ODI Challenge Cup, ICly co-hosted the Lzher-Jeckland Invitational.
Winners: N/A
Runners Up: WBC 30 & 31, Memorial Cup
Semi Final: CE 26, WBC 35, WLC 20

Looks pretty good, but I have two questions.

1.) What's your preferred format over twenty-one teams, which I think is our number right now?
2.) Why, why, why would you have these tiebreakers!?!?!?!

1. H2H W-L
2. H2H run differential
3. H2H runs for
4. Overall run differential
5. Overall runs for
6. Playoff Game/Games

3.) Sure, H2H W-L should go in front, but why in the world and multiple parallel universes would you use H2HRD and H2HRF in front of RD?

While I do think Jeckland should have been more specific with the group arrangement, I should point out that I used the same tiebreakers as he did, except that they were only used for non-decisive ties (i.e. two way tie for first place in group with both teams going through anyway) and there was a one-game playoff the other times. It was never questioned, even though my tiebreak proposals were far more unconventional than Jeck's. Also, I concur with him that H2HRD and H2HRF should be ahead of Overall RD and RF. If H2H is what matters in breaking a tie, then the rest of H2H should follow before you move on to overall. And frankly, my "always have a one-game playoff in decisive ties" proposal last IBS was way more unusual than this. And the tiebreakers for non-decisive ties were identical to Jeck's proposal, as was the procedure to determine home team for the one-game playoff in decisive ties. So this is nothing new.

New Wolfopolis/Oakbrook and Calvarie hostbid for IBS V

Who are you?
The Somewhat-Socialist States of New Wolfopolis is a nation in the great region of Esportiva. The user behind New Wolfopolis has hosted the International Wolfball Championships, Maple Leaf Bowl II, Kronum World Cup III, an NSCAA conference, and co-hosted International Baseball Slam III and (OOC-ly) IV, along with founding the World Hoops Showcase. As for their past in the IBS, New Wolfopolis competed in the last two editions, placing third in IBS III.

The Protectorate of Oakbrook and Calvarie is a subnation in northern Atlantian Oceania that is under the loose control of the Vettreran Government. The user behind Oakbrook and Calvarie has hosted the 2nd U15 World Cup, 7th U15 World Cup, founded the Global American Football Association, and hosted the 1st and second editions of said tournament before having to leave NS during the 3rd edition. The user also scorinates an extensive domestic sportswire. Oakbrook & Calvarie is making their IBS debut here.

What will the format look like?
Well, with the signups now past 20, we are looking at a a 24 team format. Therefore, we would play a normal group stage, with a normal single-elimination tournament at the end. With twenty-four, there would be six groups of four, with the top two finishers going into a twelve-team single-elimination bracket. All stages of the playoffs will be a best-of-three, save for the finals, which will be best of one-hundred eighty-seven best-of-five.

What about RP?
What about it?

RPs will be graded on a scale from 0-3 with decimals being used as necessary to determine the quality of the RP. As per the norm Quality > Quantity, but more elaborate RPs are always preferred to simple 4-sentence summaries. RP Bonuses will be cumulative and added onto the rankings, just as they were done under Gregoryisgodistan’s hosting of the 4th edition. As always, multiple RPs done during the same matchday will simply be treated as one RP. Also, going on last year’s model we will be offering Bonus RP Opportunities that will be worth a bonus point on your RPs.

How will ties be broken?
Tiebreakers are in order, as follows:
H2H Record
H2H Run Differential
Run Differential
Runs Scored
Tiebreaker Game

How will you scorinate?
We’ll be using the NSFS baseball formula on the latest version of xkoranate (0.3.3).

And the venues? Am I going to be in Oakbrook & Calvarie, or New Wolfopolis..or what?

Good Question! With 24 teams split between two nations, 12 teams will be competing within each nation. Oakbrook & Calvarie will have the venues of King’s Grove University, the professional stadium of the King’s Grove Giants, and the stadium for Central Calvarie University (all of which are located in the shared capital city of King’s Grove). New Wolfopolis will be showcasing some smaller stadii around the country, including Brannigan Memorial Field in Fenstermacher, and the UNI-Dome, on the campus of the University of New Iowa in Aux Eveques.
The 4 games that will need to be played for teams not receiving a Top 4 bye will be played in Oakbrook & Calvarie at the King’s Grove University & King’s Grove Giants stadiums. The remaining playoff games will all take place in New Wolfopolis, in the country’s largest baseball stadium and the home of the national team, Louviere Telecommunications Ballpark @ Lupinia Pavilion, in Lupinia.
However, all games played by a host nation will be scorinated by the other host nation.

I have a question about the host bid that wasn’t covered in the host bid! Or I want to tell you how awesome you guys are!
Feel free to ask or compliment below.

1) We new have 22. If I were selected as host at this stage, I would throw in a puppet and aim for 24, with four groups of six. Top two would go through. I'll work with whatever numbers I get though.

I'm also willing to throw in Gregoryisgodistan Special Administrative Zone (known here as Gregoryisgodistan Special Admin Zone due to character limits) as a numbers puppet to get to 24, but I would request that it be cut first if we get more than that. Will confirm from my computer when I'm on it.

badtranslate for "Okay, it's time for the host bid vote!"

Anyways, we got ourselves some options here.

1.) Jeckland
2.) New Wolfopolis/Oakbrook and Cavalrie
3.) Re-open host voting
4.) Abstain

Please TG your vote to Hicana by the seventeenth. Thanks!

We've made an agreement to keep the signups open for now, due to various puppet situations. There are 27 signups if you count Mochria and GGSAZ, so one or more new master nations would be great.
