Kronum World Cup III - Everything

Postby New Wolfopolis » Sun Mar 09, 2014 11:26 am

Welcome to the sunny land of New Wolfopolis for the third edition of the Kronum World Cup! This thread is where all rosters, roleplays, and results will be posted. You are free to include small OOC notes, but any posts solely OOC should be directed to the OOC discussion thread.

Rosters and RPs will be graded in the following way, as per my hostbid:
Because of how unbalanced the ranks are (distance between 1 and 4 is larger than distance between 4 and unranked), I want rank to be easily overcome by RP. So, I'll be multiplying each rank by two and then dividing it by ten. For example, Catholican Catholica's rank will be 5.714, and that plus max RP bonus to date will be max rank total. RPs will be graded on a fluid scale from 0 to 2, with rosters graded from 0 to 4. Therefore, logically, a rank deficit will could be overcome before the first matchday.

Please post a roster, and include the following permissions with it.
Code: Select all
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Y/N
Godmod Scoring Events: Y/N
RP injuries to my players: Y/N
Godmod injuries to my players: Y/N
Godmod harsh technical fouls resulting in ejection of my players: Y/N
Godmod Other Events: Y/N

Thursday, April 12: F5, if necessary

*= There will be three groups of six teams, and after the single round robin group stage, the group winners and runners-up will advance, along with the two best third place teams. However, if teams are in a decisive tie (as in, you win the tie, you're in, you lose the tie, you don't make the playoffs), teams will go to a one-game playoff to decide who makes it into the playoff round. I realize this is different from my host bid, but I feel this is the best way to do it, especially with the complications of third-place qualifiers.
**=Finals are a five-game series, while 3PPO is a three-game series, so the match on Wednesday, April 4 will be if necessary for the 3PPO, but it is definitely necessary for the final.
***=Why the long break? Sorry about this, but I'll be out of town for a few days and unable to scorinate. That means you have no excuse to not have an RP in before the playoffs :D

Official Visitor's Guide - Kronum World Cup III
The Somewhat-Socialist States of
NEW WOLFOPOLIS

New Wolfopolis is a fairly large and growing nation, located in the region of Esportiva. If you are anywhere else besides Esportiva, it would be best to fly in, and if you're flying in, you'll go through Lupinia International Airport in Lupinia, which is the closest airport to all of the cities where the games are taking place. New Wolfopolis's national language is English. If your team doesn't speak English, you are free to bring translators or if you don't have any, we are happy to provide them, as not all of the locals speak all languages. There are plenty of independent hotels in every city, so your team will have plenty of choices of where to stay. You'll be able to eat and drink at any of our fine restaurants, though alcohol is illegal in New Wolfopolis. Our ginger ale is some of the finest in the entire multiverse, so keep that in mind. While we're on the topic of law, the only laws that are really different from the norm is that guns, alcohol, and smoking are banned. The enforcement on international guests is a bit lax, especially on alcohol and smoking laws, but laws will be enforced for crimes such as murder. If you're planning on practicing religion while in the country, you might have a tough time, as many Wolfopian citizens are atheist, about 85% of the population. There are some various places of worship in larger cities, and almost all religions are represented with some sort of chapel in Lupinia. Wolfopian citizens are mostly very friendly, by and large. Return friendly gestures, accept favors, though the youth crime rate is rather high, so keep that in mind. If anything happens to you during your stay, our socialized health care system will cover you free of charge, save for expensive procedures such as heart surgery. National hospitals are located in every city with at least 1,000 citizens, which includes all cities with Kronum World Cup matches. Most civil rights, like freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, etc. are permitted in New Wolfopolis, as our civil rights are held sacrosanct.

Lupinia
Lupinia is the capital of New Wolfopolis, located in between New Iowa and New California in the New America, or north-central, region. It's the most popular tourist city in New Wolfopolis, as well as the most populated. Things for tourists include Lupinia Pavilion, where all national home games are played, as well as New Wolfopolis University, the only university in Lupinia. You can admire the fine architecture, take a stroll through many parks, visit the national zoo, and so much more.

Games Played: Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Finals

Aux Eveques
Aux Eveques is the second-largest city in the nation, and the capital of New Iowa. Aux Eveques was a nice little university town that has grown to become a nice big university city. It has retained that feeling, though, with much of the city's politics focusing on the university, as well as many alumni staying.

University of New Iowa Dome (UNI-Dome, pronounced you-knee-dome), Capacity 17,500

Games Played: Quarterfinals

Los Diablos
Los Diablos is the capital of New California, though not the largest city in the state. Because of that, the crime rates are a bit lower than the state average, which is very high in comparison to the rest of the nation. Los Diablos is a touristy town, because of its port on Lake Diablos, and criminals tend to stay away from it.

We hope you enjoy your stay in New Wolfopolis!

Catholican Catholica are back on the world stage as they look forward to the third Kronum World Cup in the nation of New Wolfopolis. Under the leadership of Head Coach Richard Howell, the team is confident that they will be able to win a third consecutive Kronum World Cup. However, since the last World Cup was held in Mousebane Islet, one player will not be able to make it because of injuries. Ranger Dennis Sampley will not be on the flight from Catholican Catholica to New Wolfopolis as he had tore his ACL a few days ago while playing for his semi-professional football club, New Haven Athletic. Instead, 25 year old Christopher Smith will be replacing the star ranger. Can the Blue Eagles still play good without their star ranger?

Head Coach: Richard Howell
Assistant Coach: Robert Wright

Starting Lineup

Name: Donald Wilson
Number 17
Age: 29
Position: Wedgeback
Bio: Donald was a semi-professional goalkeeper for his local football team. He was called up to the national kronum team after scouts saw his ability to throw a ball and guard the goal. He wishes to play for a high level football team.

Name: Ernest English
Number 12
Age: 25

Name: David Blankenship
Number 18
Age: 18
Position: Wedgeback
Bio: David was a star football goalkeeper in his high school team. Although he is young, his abilities are as good as that of a professional goalkeeper. He wishes to play for this national team more in the future, and wants to try and get to be a professional football goalkeeper as well.

Name: Franklin John
Number 10
Age: 21
Position: Ranger
Bio: He is a track star that used to play handball in high school. He is faster than most wingmen because of his fast attributes, but he has a less powerful shot than a normal wingman should have.

Name: Christopher Smith
Number 6
Age: 25
Position: Ranger
Bio: Having played track and field in high school and baseball in college, he is looking to overpower his opponents with the use of his fast pace and his powerful throw.

Name: Mark Smith
Number 20
Age: 29
Position: Crosser
Bio: He is a famous handball player that is known to be a playmaker by his team mates and his fans. He has amazing vision, and can make plays faster than the average football midfielder.

Name: Alfred Casey

Kannapian National Kronum Association

Kannap has entered its first ever Kronum team to the Kronum World Cup. The Kannapians had a lot of work to do to make a team presence happen. Firstly, they had to figure out what Kronum exactly is. Secondly, the foundation of the Kannapian National Kronum Association (KNKA) happened. Third, they had to find athletes and coaches that would work well together and operate as a decent team for the World Cup. The KNKA hired Martin Yvesis as Head Coach to the national Kronum team of Kannap. They then began to look into finding athletes, which happened fairly quick as sports are large in Kannap and many athletes try to get to the world stage in any sport they can compete in.

Number 1
Age: 18
Bio: Henry played as goalie for three years in his high school football team. He was brought to the national Kronum team by the KNKA since he was very good at his sport. They have been married for two years.

Bio: Stephen has played football for the Stockholm club in Kannap for six years. He has been the goalie for the club for the past four of those years. He is the best goalie in the nation of Kannap, and is credited as one of the reasons that Stockholm has won the National Football Championships five years in a row. He is looking forward to the Kronum World Cup, and he is also the oldest member of the Kannapian National Kronum team.

Name: Marvel Louis Blake
Number 7
Age: 16
Bio: Marvel is the youngest athlete on the Kannapian National Kronum team, but that makes him no less a good performer than the other members of the team. Marvel is the goalie of his high school football team. He has played football for seven years total. He has played for his high school football team all three years of his high school career and has been voted their most valuable player for the last two years. He has great abilities as a goalie and looks forward to representing his high school and his nation in the Kronum World Cup.

Age: 18

Name: Benjamin Reginald Joyfield
Number 12
Age: 17

He is a cross country runner in his spare time, he ran cross country in high school and intends to when he makes it to college.

Name: Ragan Pewter Milligrew Jefferson
Number 15
Age: 18
Bio: Ragan "Ray" Jefferson is a baseball player from the southernmost parts of Kannap. He is the best baseball player in Kannap for his age. He has been playing baseball for twelve years. The players have no set positions and general all chase the ball is a particularly free-form manner. Once gaining possession they will usually just hurl or kick it towards a goal from wherever they are, then begin chasing it again. Don't underestimate this tactic, they are strong and powerful and can quickly smother attacks. Scoring-wise, they will score infrequently with high scoring shots including several lucky kronums.

There is not set team so as long as you include the captain; Dogfart, pick whoever you want as my team. RP-wise, do whatever you want with this team, just don't kill Dogfart. Saying that, these zombies are notoriously difficult to kill or maim so unless you have a good IC reason for obliterating one of my player during the tournament, don't even bother trying.

Don't worry about being eaten or infected, it doesn't work like that here but if you want to RP one of my players devouring one of yours, feel free to. If you want to have one of your players become a zombie, TG me (at Paradystopia for promptest response) and we'll arrange something.

Have fun.

Nova Pruthenia National Kronum Team

Staff
Head Coach: Andrew Lidacki
He has been the coach since the beginning of international kronum games and after having led the team to bronze medal he's been very appreciated in Nova Pruthenia, his contract has been prolonged since Kronum WC IV

Assistant Coach: Reinhard Meier
A young kronum ex-player, who's very proud to be Lidacki's assistant. He hopes to become a head coach after Lidacki's retirement.

Physio: Antanas Noreikis
New physiotherapist, Paweł Groszek has decided to resign due to personal issues.

Roster
Starters

WB: Maxim Likhachyov (23) (Korona Kionigsberg)
considered the best kronum wedgeback in Nova Pruthenia. Not only a great goalkeeper, but also a good scorer. Fast, tall and with good soccer skills. Ex goalkeeper of Korona Kionigsberg Soccer Team
WB: Andreas Elbner (25) (Elche Lyck)
Born in a small village near Lyck, a little bit unbalanced shape. One day he can be a team hero, another day he barely helps the other team
WB: Bartłomiej Szczepkowski (20) (Osa Grudziądz)
Young and talented; the future of Nova Pruthenia's wedgebacking, definitely the best player coming from Osa Grudziądz, ex-basketball player, often scores for two from the goal zone. Average at goalkeeping.
WB: Vilius Gudauskas (27) (Suvalkijos Ereliai)
one of the very first kronum players in Nova Pruthenia. Not in a very good shape right now - often substitued by the subs.
R: Georgy Polachev (24) - Capt. (Korona Kionigsberg)
great handballer, in his best shape ever, very intelligent and effective. Always knows what he aims to do, not too selfish on the field. The captain of Novapruthenian Kronum National Team.
R: Maciej Rzeszutko (22) (Warmia Olsztyn)
burly man, very good at predicting the rival's strategy, great blocker and good shooter. In offence sometimes substitued due to his weak stamina.
R: Pīteris Jāduka (18) (Twankstas Klakei)
not too tall, but very flexible and brisk, ex-handball wing player, which makes him great at handball skills. He adapts the typical handball winger tricks to kronum - for example avoiding the rivals by coming with the ball from the corner nearly to the middle of the field and then taking a shot.
R: Andrei Bolshov (26) (Korona Kionigsberg)
a smart player, likes to lob the ball into the goal zone to one of the attacking wedgebacks, which in a basketball manner throws the ball through the krone ring.
C: Sebastian Michalski (20) (Truso Elbląg)
main playmaker of the team, responding in a creative way to everything what happens on the field, good field vision, sometimes he misses while passing the ball, though. Young and perspective player, hard-working. Sometimes substitued by Shcheglov, who is more experienced and deals with pressure in a more reliable way.
C: Mārks Kāubri (24) (Twankstas Klakei)
a kronum shooter (8 pts), a very strong man with rocket-fast and precise shoots, but not so great at playmaking. Sometimes a little bit selfish, but nobody complains so far he keeps scoring.

Subs

WB: Filip Rojkowski (20) (Osa Grudziądz)
WB: Yury Sivakov (19) (Angrapa Instruch)
WB: Rōberts Bārtiks (21) (Tilzis Palkai)
WB: Rimvydas Jurgelis (23) (Suvalkijos Ereliai)
R: Oleg Krutov (17) (Korona Kionigsberg)
R: Algirdas Daukšas (24) (Nemunas Alytus)
R: Pavel Tupitsyn (25) (Korona Kionigsberg)
R: Piotr Markowski (20) (Truso Elbląg)
C: Leonid Shcheglov (27) (Korona Kionigsberg)
C: Jens Naumann (23) (Elche Lyck)

EXCELSIOR NEWS - It was a normal, sunny day in our country of Darvale as the 3rd edition of the Kronum World Cup made its debut in the world. "It was extremely impressive, my friends and I are pretty happy with the final outcome." said Brian Cayoff, an Astarian citizen who travelled with a group of friends to Fairbanks to spectate the match.

Darvale made its debut in the world of Kronum with a match against Arab County, of the same region as later hosts New Wolfopolis, Esportiva. The Darvalians had the upper hand for the majority of the game, with a 59% - 41% possession in favor of them. The game kicked off with a roar of applause from all fans in the stadium, Faitman, Alman, Pertwee, Verman, Freeman, and Bane providing extremely sly passes to each other.

In the 7th minute the after a combination of 10 passes from all Darvalian members of the team, Alman slammed a ring shot home from 26 feet, a Kronum. The crowd erupted in joy, all members of the team jumping on him in celebration.

In the 13th minute, Arab County's offense managed to pass Verman and Faitman to perform a perfect overhand throw with a magnificent curving effect that caused the ball to zip pass an unsuspecting Antalia, who thought that the ball was out.

In the 18th minute, Freeman passed 3 defenders to pass the ball to Pertwee, a remarkable 15 foot pass, who then proceeded to pass the wedgeback and dunk the far-left ring so hard that he dented a section of the left part of the crown. At the end of the 1st phase, the score is 28 - 25 in favor of the Darvalians.

In the 2nd phase now, this match is extremely tight, but Darvale's keeping that short, 2-3 point lead on Arab County, who are growing more and more frustrated at the fact that they aren't able to catch up on that little gap.

29th minute now, almost at the halfway mark, Arab County are penetrating the Darvalian defenses a little easier now, Alman, Bane, Pertwee, Verman, Freeman and Faitman aren't doing that good in the defense, Arab County have managed to put up quite a show, 21 shots in the last 14 minutes, 4 of them were on target. And, there's the whistle, half-time.

In the 3rd phase, the score was 53 - 51, still in favor of the Darvalians, Antalia, Turner, Hanson, and Nosher were all putting up a good fight, they already blocked a few shots from the opposing offense. Faitman was replaced by Leyton during the half-time, like they say, it never hurts to bring a pair of fresh legs onto the field. Leyton already scored 10 points so in a space of 6 minutes since the break, he was really motivated. Below is a brief recap of the major highlights of the last phase with commentary.

The 3rd phase was rather exciting, 31 shots from Darvale and 28 shots from Arab County, impressive considering that only 27 of them, combined, were actually on target. Arab County's offense were getting more and more aggressive, not hesitating to make contact, but they haven't actually made any significant shots yet, except for that 13th minute shot, that was 1 of the best goals I had seen in my entire life. We're reaching the end of the game here, it's 109 - 107, Arab County have still not managed to make up for those 2 points, and it doesn't seem like they will, they've only got 20 seconds. In the midf- Arab County scores a Kronum! That makes the 114 - 109! Arab County's definitely won it, The Darvalians are all exiting the stadium now, heh, the sore losers they are. And so back to the game, Arab County's got this one in the bag! Every Darvalian was crying until, what appeared to be a miracle happened. Another Kronum! This 114 - 116! We're winning and, YES! The ref blows the whistle, the game's over! Darvale's won their first ever match! The fans are going wild!

"I am sincerely, extremely proud of the team." said Head Coach Samuel Adman, just a few minutes after the match. Adman was going to say more, before he was mobbed by members of the team, who poured icy water on top of him. Adman later confirmed that he hoped that the team would win their next match, against New North Aqmuland, who lost their first match, against hosts New Wolfopolis, by a margin of 18 points. Adman, however said that they were not to be underestimated, saying that they "played very well in their first game, especially considering that they were playing against the hosts."

NEWS: NOBODY NEARLY BEATS KANNAP, LLAMAS 0-3
By Reginald Smart, Lead Correspondent

The Llamas Kronum team was apparently lost in translation as they were supposed to travel to New Wolfopolis after a daring host bid didn't work out. And yes, I mean "lost in translation". A stupendous server glitch translated the entire thing into Spanish and back again. As there is no real Spanish word for Kronum, it randomly fizzled off of the Llamanean Sport Committee server and disappeared, along with all of the plans for the host bid.

The team was distraught at the sudden issue, which cancelled their plane tickets and hotel reservations. They tried to get last-minute tickets, but missed the plane to New Wolfopolis by thirteen point eight seconds.

Meanwhile, the Nova Pruthenia-Llamas game was about to begin, but nobody could find the team, for the obvious reason that they were stuck in an airport. It was the worst possible time for a blizzard, one that swept through the area they were in and cancelled all flights north of Southwest Province for the next day. The team tried to be proactive and drive down to Nikcoro Airport, but they drove into a snowbank and the engine froze.

After the run of bad luck, you'd expect things to start going better. But when the entire team was assaulted and sold as slaves to a gang in Hicana, they decided against it.

The team is currently still slaving away for the Hicanan gang and may be sold into the military as Hicana faces civil war against the newly founded Free States of Miklandia. Will they escape? They better, because even though nobody was playing, they still managed to score 105 points off Kannap.
