Welcome everyone to the Inaugural Year of the new and improved Zenic Federation of Association Football (or ZFAF) Domestic System. In the days of yore, there was one lonely league in the great empire of Zenic: the Zenic Major League. It was simply 8 teams playing each other 4 times during the season and against amateur teams during preseason. It was fun for a while but limited in scope. The original eight teams were: FC Virtus, Internacional Binar, Real Old Maiz, Hutiberg AC, Honneur, Reichton, Deline Athletic and AS Quai. Now joined by 4 new teams in the new top division known as the Premier League of the Empire as well as 12 new teams in the second division known as the Amateur Championship, it is just the start. The ZFAF has formed a new competition to go along with this new system: the Waylord Cup, named after the founder and first president of the ZFAF. The Waylord Cup will be a domestic cup tournament where every Zenic club will be included and have an opportunity to win and bring much honor.

In this new system, the ZFAF will be working with the UICA, other domestic leagues and other organizations as we will be following their international guidelines to create an exciting and new level of play for the fans to enjoy. As such, we will be introducing concepts that are new to Zenic but mainstays in the rest of the world and hopefully, mainstays here soon. First, we will talk about changes to the domestic game. Now that there are two leagues in play, we are introducing Promotion and Relegation. The last place team of the PLE will be relegated to the Amateur Championship and be replaced by the champion of aforementioned league while the 11th place PLE team will enter a two-legged home and away series against the runner up of the Amateur Championship to see who belongs in the PLE and who belongs in the Amateur Championship.

Now, we shall discuss the international aspect of these changes. As mentioned before, we will be working in conjunction with other organizations to send our victorious teams to their international competitions. The champion of the PLE will qualify for the Champions Cup, the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place team of the PLE will qualify for the Globe Cup and the top four teams of the Amateur Championship will qualify for the Series B Champions Cup. Meanwhile, we will be working closely with our fellow Rushmore nation of Valladares to include the winner of the newly established Waylord Cup to qualify for the prestigious Cygnus Cup as well as working with the Rushmore regional federation to include the winner of the PLE in the Rushmore Copa de Campeones.

Here we are: the glorious 2nd season of the Premier League of the Empire. I am Gonzalo Santos De Jesus and together, we will experience three things this season: 1) a review of the inaugural season and a preview of this upcoming season, 2) a review of the 2nd season once we have experienced it in all of its glory and 3) an examination of the 4th UICA transfer window and upcoming UICA season 54. However, today we will go over the first item.

A small overview: last year, Emperor Prof. Proctor and Minister of Sports Zimmel III worked together to overhaul the Zenic Domestic Association Football system. This resulted in the Premier League of the Empire, Amateur Championship, the Waylord Cup and involvement in UICA (international) events. This also saw the exposure of several long standing amateur teams, such as San Valerie FC and Deportivo Proctor City and the creation of several others, such as Cyflymder CP and the Wopen Warriors. In the top flight, the original eight were joined by New Citium FC, Laar City Cross, AC Kraft and Coohen City FC for what ended up being a rather surprising season. However, the Amateur Championship was am enjoyable despite the preconceived notions with amateur teams. Last but not least, the Waylord Cup was the cherry on top that brought out the best of both leagues.

In the inaugural PLE, the favorites were either FC Virtus or Internacional Binar to end up victorious while newcomers Laar City Cross and Coohen City FC were predicted to be relegated. These predictions were half-correct: FC Virtus ended up champions and lifted the Emperor’s Trophy while Laar City Cross were the first team relegated to the Amateur Championship. However, Inter Binar had a surprisingly disappointing inaugural season finishing 4th while Coohen City FC ended up tied for second with Honneur as AS Quai would end up relegated to the AC after losing in the promotion/relegation playoff.

Meanwhile, in the inaugural season of the Amateur Championship, it was an intriguing season as no one truly knew what to expect from the teams. Now, there is no doubt: the Amateur Championship is as skilled and entertaining as the PLE. At the end of it, Cyflymder CP took home the Federation Trophy to become the first team to be promoted from the AC to the PLE. The runner-ups, Academica Cote, would not be left behind: in the first ever promotion/relegation playoff, they defeated AS Quai in both legs to be promoted alongside Cyflymder CP.

Finally, in the inaugural Waylord Cup, the top eight teams of both divisions battled it out to see who would win the first ever domestic cup in the Empire’s history. In the end, it came down to Real Old Maiz and Reichton. It was not only a battle of long standing top flight teams but a battle of twins: national team starters and twins Gavin Barnsley, of Real Old Maiz, took on Daniel Oliver Barnsley, of Reichton. Gavin proved to be the twin on the superior team as Real Old Maiz won 2-1 on aggregate despite Daniel O. being the top scorer of the tournament with 8 goals in 8 games.

The season’s standings resulted in these teams qualifying for international events:
- FC Virtus qualified for the 53rd Champions Cup and the 26th Rushmore Copa de Campeones
- Coohen City FC, Honneur and Inter Binar qualified for the 50th Globe Cup
- Cyflymder CP, Academica Cote, U. of Keye and Deportivo Proctor City qualified for the 50th Series B Champions Cup
- Real Old Maiz qualified for the 28th Cygnus Cup

Unfortunately, most of the teams were knocked out immediate from their respective tournaments. However, FC Virtus was placed in the Globe Cup after their loss along with a few others and made it all the way to the group stages before being knocked out of international play again. Next UICA season, we hope and believe that our talented clubs will improve and do exponentially better.

Now that I have freshen up all of our minds about last season, we can move forward and look to preview this upcoming 2nd season of domestic association football here in the Empire. The favorites for the PLE are the current champions FC Virtus but upstart Coohen City FC hopes to improve on their second place finish from last season and 14% believe that they can win it all. Also, Cyflymder CP and Academica Cote will be watched extensively to see how they perform in the PLE and Hutiburg FC will try to improve from last season in order to make sure they aren’t in danger of relegation again. In the AC, 3rd place U. of Keye and 4th place Deportivo Proctor City are expected to be the next teams to have an opportunity to play in the PLE. Finally, in the Waylord Cup, Real Old Maiz hopes to repeat as champions of the domestic cup.

Hello again, readers. This is Gonzalo Santos De Jesus again and I am glad that you have come back to review the recently finished 2nd season of the ZFAF domestic system alongside me. Just as an fyi, I have combined parts two and three in this article as they seemed relevant enough to each other to warrant a joint article. Now, let’s not waste any time and begin with the top tier: the PLE.

In what was a fantastic showing, Reichton surged past everyone on their way to win their first ever Emperor’s Trophy while Deline Athletic proved they weren’t as mediocre as last season by finishing 3rd after losing the tiebreakers to FC Virtus and above Inter Binar. Thus, Coohen City FC, Honneur and Real Old Maiz were left hanging in the middle of the standings while New Citium FC squeezed in between recently promoted Cyflymder CP and Academica Cote in the 8th, 9th and 10th positions. Unfortunately, that left Hutiburg FC relegated in last and AC Kraft in the Promotion/Relegation Playoff.

Meanwhile, in the Amateur Championship, U. of Keye and Deportivo Proctor City showed why they were just as good as Cyflymder CP and Academica Cote by being promoted: U. of Keye by winning the AC and Deportivo Proctor City by defeating AC Kraft in the Promotion/Relegation Playoff. Going alongside them in the Series B Champions Cup are the Spectrum Rovers and recently relegated AS Quai.

Finally, in the 2nd edition of the Waylord Cup, Honneur made up for their disappointing 2nd PLE season by defeating FC Virtus to earn a spot in the 28th Cygnus Cup. An interesting note: F Ignaas Alwin of Honneur tied the record for most goals in a single cup with 8.

With that, we move on part three of my coverage for this season which involves the 54th UICA season and the 4th UICA transfer window. From the results of the season, here is a list of which teams qualified for which UICA and fellow affiliate tournaments:

Alongside the 54th UICA season is the 4th UICA transfer window, when clubs from all around the universe buy and sell players to improve and prepare themselves for the next domestic and international seasons. I will have a separate article outlining the needs of certain top flight teams which will be available internationally to help foreign teams and players see what Zenic has to offer. However, before even writing this article, there was breaking news concerning the transfer window: Alexander Ayaode, F for Cyflymder CP and the Zenic national team as well as current all-time leading scorer, was sold to the Yttribian club of Telino. This makes Ayaode the first Zenian to play for a foreign club on international soil. An honor that we hope he will uphold by helping Telino improve and win the Yttribian Premiership again.

Welcome to the inaugural season of the Zenician Empirical Hockey League! Alongside the newly created Ice Hockey Federation of the Empire (IHFE), the Zenic Ministry of Sports would like to introduce you to this new and entertaining league. This is a momentous occasion for the Empire of Zenic as this is the first ever professional ice hockey league. There had been several amateur teams in the past but most of them ended up folding after lack of organization and money from the few games they managed to get. It is only now that we’ve managed to prove our talent in the World Cup of Hockey have we decided that it is time to create an infrastructure to manage and continue to improve local Zenician talent.

The rules of the league are rather simple: every team will play a home and away match against each team, resulting in every team playing 18 games in the regular season. The top four teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for both the Gentas Memorial Playoffs and the Champions Hockey League. The 2 seed will face the 3 seed in the first semifinal while the 1 seed will face the 4 seed in the second semifinal. The losers of the semifinal series will face each other in the third place playoff while the winners will play in the finals to see who will emerge as champions of the ZEHL. The final order of the top 4 teams after the playoffs is the order in which the teams will be submitted for the Champions Hockey League.

We are also excited to announce that our national team Left Winger and inaugural Frozen War Hero and Frozen Legend winner, Tendaji Jernej, will be leaving the current champions, Teyio Mariners to enter into the QHL Draft and become Zenic's first player to play in a foreign league. We wish him the best of luck and hope that many more follow in his footsteps to other tundras.

This year was full of everything: consistent contenders, surreal surprises and many changes. However, before we look at this year, we have to see what happened last year and the storyline that formed. First, we’ll be discussing the Premier League of the Empire. Coming into the season, FC Virtus were riding a high, having won the PLE in back to back seasons to bring their total to 3. Honneur, Coohen City FC and Deline Athletic didn’t have anything to cry about either. Meanwhile, Inter Binar and Real Old Maiz fans were shocked by their underperforming clubs respectively and both managers were firmly in the hot seat to turn it around this season.

In the Amateur Championship, Armory Athletic finally realized their full potential and were promoted after winning the league. They managed to set two records along the way: most points in a season of the AC (57) and most clean sheets in a season with 13 by GK Dimitrios Plank. Spectrum Rovers also pulled off the feat of relegating FC Virtus’ little brother, New Citium FC in the Promotion/Relegation Playoff. Three other surprises last year in the AC were Hutiburg AC and San Valerie FC who finished much higher than most people expected as well as Deportivo Proctor City, who finished second to last.

Congratulations to Honneur for winning the 8th Waylord Cup as well as qualifying for the Cygnus Cup and commiserations to Deline Athletic.

In the 8th Waylord Cup, Honneur emerged victorious over Deline Athletic 4-2 on aggregate. Interesting runs of note were Armory Athletic making it to the semifinals and San Valerie beating Cyflymder CP in the first round.

Transfer-wise, it was possible the most active and lucrative window ever in Zenician history: 5 transfers out for 32 million Sen (36 million NSD) and 22 transfers in for 27 million Sen (30.5 million NSD). The PLE clubs pulled in 5.5 million Sen more than they spent and they got some really talented players. Phelan Donovan, the 25 year old defender from Svtolo Latoli move from Pkethat Hevnaje to Deline Athletic for 4 million Sen (4.5 million NSD) seemed like the smartest move in the offseason to improve a slightly leaky defense that let in 34 goals in 22 games. Tvrtko Barišić, the young defensive midfielder from Pasarga moved from Clun Stein-los to FC Virtus on a free, which is amazing that they could pull in a talented youngster for nothing. Another good pickup was Enric Bou, the central midfielder who went from Llara Llera in his native San Llera to Real Old Maiz to replace Gavin Barnsley was a good talent for talent replacement. Finally, an amazing move from the recently promoted Spectrum Rovers, picking up Martin Corsen, a young midfielder from Semarland from Eikland Sports on a free to replace rising superstar and national team player Sroel Cavan, who transferred to Reichton.

Now, the moment most of you reading have been waiting for: the official recap of the ZFAF domestic system. In the PLE, it was no surprise that Tyler Hardy and his men (and pony) emerged champions once again, winning their 4th league championship. And they won it in exciting fashion on the last match day. Going into the final matches, Reichton lead FC Virtus by a single point. Reichton would face off against last year’s AC champions, Armory Athletic while FC Virtus took on Real Old Maiz, who were fighting to avoid being placed in the Promotion/Relegation Playoff. The FC Virtus vs Real Old Maiz was no competition as FC Virtus won 6-1 while Armory Athletic played spoilers as they beat Reichton 1-0, giving FC Virtus the championship. Meanwhile, Cyflymder CP were automatically relegated for finishing last and, the shock of the season, Real Old Maiz finished 11th and had to face off against the 2nd place team from the Amateur Championship.

Speaking of, AC Kraft made their stay in the second tier a short one, having won the AC with two games left and having not lost a game at all. Deportivo Proctor City pulled their act together to finish second and go against Real Old Maiz for a chance to return to the PLE. Unfortunately for them, they lost both games by an aggregate of 3-0 and will remain in the AC for at least one more season. Newly relegated New Citium FC also performed better and finished third.

In the 9th annual Waylord Cup, Coohen City FC defeated FC Virtus 3-2 on aggregate to win their second cup. This edition may have been the most surprising of all, partially due to the away goal rule being tested for the first time ever. Two PLE teams not pleased with the change are Deline Athletic and Honneur: Deline were knocked out by Hutiburg AC, Honneur knocked out by Indigo Lygers due to the away goal rule. However, in the case of Deportivo Proctor City, it seemed as if the AC side wouldn’t need it as they defeated Inter Binar in the first round, Indigo Lygers in the Quarterfinals on PKs before being crushed by the PLE champs FC Virtus in the semifinals. But they weren’t the only AC side to perform admirably: FC Cote also made it the semifinal with wins over Reichton in the first round and Hutiburg AC in the Quarterfinals before shutout by Coohen City FC.

Those were the highlights of the ZFAF. Unfortunately, where there are high points, there will also be low points. In the PLE, it was Real Old Maiz and Reichton. A historic club like Real Old Maiz, who seemed to be going in the right direction with their transfers and changes, almost were relegated from the top tier of Zenician football. I’m confident owner Julia Paterson will be combing through the organization, looking for any and all way to improve her club. Reichton is a special case as while they were successful this year, they could have been champions if they simply given a bit of effort for the game against Armory Athletic. Yet they didn’t and lost a chance at a third PLE title for the club on the final match day.

In the AC, the only true disappointment was San Valerie FC. Working on the success of the 8th season, the club made numerous changes trying to prepare themselves to go all the way to the PLE in the 9th season. What happened instead was a return to form as they finished 9th in the league. The real question begs: was the 8th season a fluke or a glimpse of what the squad can achieve given the right conditions.

In the Waylord Cup, disappointment was abound. PLE clubs Deline Athletic, Reichton, Inter Binar and Honneur were all knocked out in the first round with three of them being knocked out by AC clubs. It is the first time ever that this many PLE clubs were knocked out so early. And FC Virtus failed to win the double this year, which disappointed fans of the club but pleased fans of the rest of the PLE.

Accolade-wise, we had some new additions. In the PLE, Sroel Cavan continues to rise in fame as he was named the Emperor’s Descendant (season MVP) while his teammate Daniel O. Barnsley won the Emperor’s Cleat with 18 goals. Tyler Hardy took the Emperor’s Crown (top manager) for the third straight year. In the AC, AC Kraft nearly swept the awards this year winning the league, the Consul’s Gloves, Consul’s Crown and Consul’s Descendant. They missed out on the Consul’s Cleat, which was won by CF Thierry Beauchene of New Citium FC with 25 goals. Finally, in the Waylord Cup, FC Virtus teammates Ni’Si Tadi and Jacques Baptiste shared the Founder’s Cleat with 9 goals and Sergio Carlos Fernandez Cabrera, manager of Coohen City FC, won the Founder’s Crown.

Fyfe Messner, goalkeeper for Coohen City, was the best player in the Empire this year. He won three awards: the Emperor’s Glove (top GK during the season), Founder’s Clove’s (top GK during the cup) and Founder’s Equal (cup MVP). National team manager Luke Killian should take a good hard look at Messner as the eventual national team replacement for legend Bartholomew Sagan.

With the 9th season of the ZFAF domestic system over, clubs will start looking to the transfer market to prepare for next season and strive for greater success. For us, that means we’ll have an entertaining and historic 10th season. And all of us here at the Leinz Herald will be watching it alongside our fellow citizens of the Empire. The first order at hand is a list we have compiled of positions that squads will be looking to fill during the upcoming 12th transfer window.

For the PLE, the most interesting of changes is the firing of Federica Oppenheimer from Real Old Maiz. After just one (albeit disastrous) season, she has found herself gone from Old Maiz and at recently relegated Cyflymder CP. The runners up in the most recent season, Reichton, are looking to fill in a vacancy at LCB to maintain their reputation for having a strong defense, both domestically and internationally. Meanwhile, Inter Binar and newly promoted AC Kraft will be looking to strength their offenses with forwards, especially for Inter Binar after the retirement of Llamanian, Eden Powell. The only other vacancy in the top flight belongs to Deline Athletic who will be looking for a young LM to replace former national team player Leonidas Pagonis. Of course, anything could happen as foreign teams might come looking for Zenician players after the recent success of the national team. It will certainly be an entertaining window.

Not be left behind in entertainment is the AC, where there are tons of spots to be filled. Almost everyone will be looking for people to fill in spots and strengthen their squads for a push towards promotion next season. Of course, promoted champions AC Kraft, runners up Deportivo Proctor City and New Citium FC will all be looking to strengthening their squads as they participate in the 58th Series B Champions Cup. Also, former national team player turned manager Isidor Wessel looks to continue his project at Golden Eagles FC to improve the squad with a new goalkeeper and right back, hoping to slowly make the squad competitive.
