I noticed at least 3 errors in the rankings. First, Noburu Taiyou is only credited with their performance from IBS VI when they also competed in IBS V, Menukten is credited with 5.583 rank points for IBS V but just 0.667 ranking points and finally Vettrera is not credited with Oakbrook and Calvarie's ranking points from IBS V. It might be a good idea to go over the rankings from IBS IV and V again.

Combining both sheets into a single sheet might help cut down on errors in the future.

The issue with Menukten was a copy/paste error. The issue with NT came as a result of me deleting the wrong line when I tried to import this past cycle's data. And I wasn't aware that Vettrera and O&C should be credited with the same rank. I'll take care of that.

As for your suggestion to use the same sheet, I used a VLookup function so as long as the nation uses the same name in all editions, combining sheets wouldn't help. That turned out to be a problem with Vettrera/O&C. The other two were human error and would not have been fixed by combining sheets.

Edit: It's fixed now. And there were other errors with rank as the result of the same copy/paste error that messed up Menukten. Those are fixed.

Edit 2: Llama has the data that he used to calculate the ranks for IBS V and IBS IV. I do not. But assuming that's correct, all the rankings should be correct now.

The standings listed are completely messed up. Here are the correct standings. I would suggest Patistan use the table generator in the future if he messed something up earlier rather than try doing it completely manually. Groups 5-7 look right, so I'm not going to redo them, but groups 1, 2, and 4 were obviously wrong and I redid group 3 too, though it was already correct.

1. Due to some weirdness involving Llama hardcoding the rankings until IBS V when I took over, some nations who participated in IBS V but have not participated since may have been excluded from the table. I think I got them all, but if this describes you, you might want to check. This shows why you shouldn't hardcode data in rankings tables. Fortunately, data from this IBS and last IBS was coded in by me with the formulas, as will next IBS rankings once it happens, meaning this is the last rankings table where we have to worry about hard-coded data.

2. I will not be counting the third place series toward the rankings because this formula is based on the IBC rankings which does not count it. I do not know how Llama did it when computing the IBS V ranks, but if he counted it then, it's still going to count - I'm not going to retroactively modify the rankings. There was no third-place series in IBS VI.

3. Even if Llama is swept in the final, his rank will still go up by 1.666 points. However, he is still showing as receiving 0 points for the final round because it hasn't started yet so technically he could still get DEAT'ed between now and tomorrow morning and lose his place in the final. Additionally, the winner of the Gregoryisgodistan-Darvale match will get points for that win, plus at minimum 1.666 points in the final.

4. As a reminder to Patistan, these ranks should NOT be used this tournament (or ever.) The post-IBS VI ranks at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... _web#gid=0 should be used for this tournament, and the updated version of these rankings should be used for IBS VIII. The URL will most likely still be the same as above.

5. Because there is a mix of hard-coded and formula-based ranks, some ranks may be off by 0.001 points. For instance, San Jose Guayabal and Vettrera should both have a rank of 2.66666....., which would round to 2.667. However, because SJG's rank includes a hard-coded 2.333 from IBS V, which should be a 2.33333.... this gives him a rank of 2.6663333333.... (2.666 followed by repeating 3's) which rounds to 2.666. If anyone really cares about ranks 0.001 points off, I can fix it, but I don't think it's a big enough deal to be worth the effort.

Seriously, though, after my first two RPs, I really felt like the random number factor was really going against me, so I, to quote myself, "rage quit" IBS VII. Well, maybe I could just use that angle as my new RP for WBC 32 or IBS VIII. "Mysterious force forces decline in Fleftic baseball quality." Something like that.

Posting this here too, so it's here for future reference.

Frenline Delpha is a new user, and once I explained why his behavior was inappropriate, he understood. Since Frenline Delpha did not withdraw officially, there will be no punishment. There was, until this time, no rule governing attempted withdrawals, so it is unfair to penalize Frenline Delpha for that retroactively. However, and this is in my official capacity as organizer of the IBS, not as host of this specific IBS, in the future, attempted deliberate withdrawal from a tournament after the everything thread has opened will result in the nation and any puppets entered being kicked out of the current tournament. Additionally, that user (including any puppets, regardless of whether they have been entered) will be banned from participating in the next three (3) International Baseball Slams. It will be at the host's discretion how to handle any already scheduled games as well as to determine advancements from the group stage if necessary. In the event the tournament is already in the knockout stage, the team(s) will forfeit all remaining games of the current series, which will be treated as full wins for the opposing team for the purpose of computing rankings. Again, I think it is unfair to apply this rule to Frenline Delpha retroactively, but it will be applied in the future. Again, this statement is being made in my capacity as IBS organizer, not just as host of this specific tournament, so it will apply whether I am hosting or not. That being said, the host will have some discretion in how to apply this rule. For instance, if it is a situation where the best X third place teams go through, having the team forfeit all their games may not be the best thing to do because it gives teams in their group an unfair advantage. The host would also decide who to advance in place of those teams if necessary, within reason. I would be willing to serve as a guide for the host in such a situation if requested, but ultimately it's best if the decision lies with them as to how to handle it.
