I really like the idea. Or at least enough to enter a name. I mean I rarely do much more than post a roster anyway :)

The first season will decide the clubs in each of three tiers based on record from random draw groups for season 1.
After that things will take on a more clear-cut League formation.

Now as to any cup or cups, how would we go about implementing one or more following the second season?

I think cups could work a lot like they do IRL. All teams compete, and if numbers are difficult to work with, give the highest seeded teams (either based on the league standings or the previous cup) a bye to next round.

Aside from that, surely it depends on the number of teams in each season. Season 2 will more than likely see new squads and some removed for inactivity. I think a simple all-inclusive knockout occurring throughout the season with the higher tiered teams entering in later rounds as necessary is the most logical solution.
