"Welcome to The Tennis Show with Super-Llamaland's number one seeds. We have 2005-08 one-seed, the retired Jordan Jones...the 1996-97 one-seed, retired Brendan Barnes, and the current numero uno, Dustin Willinger! I'm Bob Bradlee, your host! Brendan, what did you see today?"

"Jared Hart, in his game, just laid waste to his opponent Anz from Kavamkao. Six-Four, Six-Two, Six-Love. Dominant. He wasn't broken the entire afternoon and he himself broke Anz six times. He looked great, although he rolled his ankle a bit up five-nothing and thirty-fifteen. That could hurt."

"Nicely done Mr. Hart! What about you, Jordan?"

"Mark Markos edged Villanueve of D Land and Isles. Great game there. He came from down 4-6, 5-7 to win 6-1, 6-4, 6-3."

"Markos lost his rhythm up 4-2 on Villanueve and lost eight straight games, but recovered to go on an 11-4 run. He regained his confidence and dispatched a worthy opponent."

"What about you, Dustin?"

"I had a very close up seat of the men's double games..."
*Chuckles*
"You were in it!"
"We lost 7-6, but then won 7-6 twice. They crushed us in set four 6-1 but we bounced back for a 7-5 win against the duo from Renzynistan."

"Lots of tiebreakers. You lost 12-10 but won 7-5 and 8-6."

"Honestly, either team could've won the first three sets. It was tight. A double fault here, a nice play there...we were lucky to take two of three."

"And Mr. Bradlee?"
*Chuckles*
"Well, Brendan, I'd say Josh Headley and Luca Chase did a fine job dispatching San Jose Guayabal's Martinez and...er...L-something. Le...Lebeu...Lebeuzid..."
"Lebeuzidiatnikov."
"Whew! Thank you! Le...Lebeuzidiatnikov. 4-6, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, and then 6-4 in the decisive one."
"Well, a swell sweep of what the Cenian Open has to offer! Will it continue? Maybe! But until then...Bob Bradlee with Brendan Barnes, Dustin Willinger, and Jordan Jones!"

Cenian Open- Tennis (Schedule/Results/RP)

Postby Estope » Tue Sep 03, 2013 6:07 pm

Estope's own Jared White has received the number one seed and a first round bye in the Cenian Open. This shows the amount of respect he has earned because of his play. White relies heavily on his footwork and speed and is in great shape right now. He is a proven star and one of Estope's greatest tennis players of all time. Of course there is another current great player in Brett Roley, the number five seed. Between the two of them, they have placed in every international tournament that an Estopian has participated in. Jared White finished runner-up at the World Tennis Tournament while Brett Roley has won the past two tournaments he has entered (Lusavik Open and Estope Open). These two young talents seemed poised to win yet again. Although White received the number one seed, Roley seems more likely to win the tournament. He is on a roll right now and is playing the best tennis of his career. While his serve and forehand has always been his strongest asset, he has worked hard on improving his backhand. The matches begin tomorrow for both of them and expect them both to come out sharp in their opening match.

Tomorrow
1 Jared White vs 33 Enzo Oppenheimer
5 Brett Roley vs 28 Vojtech Jona

Immanuel Oppenheimer (NRC) 6 6 4 6
Javier Bochenek (EST) 4 1 6 4

Javier Bochenek lost his opener in four sets. No surprise here really as he rarely can compete at an international level. On the bright side, now that he is out we no longer have to waste time and space covering him.

Mary Lee (EST) 4 6 6 5 6
Mary Antone (DLI) 6 4 2 7 2
------------------------------------------------
Lenka Dusalska (TAT) 6 3 3 6 2
Elizabeth Taylor (EST) 4 6 6 1 6

Mary Lee and Elizabeth Taylor both surprised everyone and won their opening day matches in five sets. In each of their first international matces, not much was expected of either of them. Mary Lee came out and right from the start showed that she can compete. After losing the first set narrowly, she went on to win the next two. A tight fourth set in which she had triple match point led to a disappointing loss. The fifth set though was her best all day. Lee dominated the final set right from the beginning and clinched a spot in the second round. She will face Daniela Perez who got a bye. It will be tough but if she plays like she did in the fifth set then she has a shot at the upset. Taylor Also battled in a similar up and down match. After losing set number one, she won the next two fairly easily. The fourth set was disastrous and Taylor only won a single game. But as bad as the fourth set was, the fifth set was that much better. Winning 6-2 to advance on in the tournament, Taylor looked like a legitimate contender. She will face Zarema Vizirov in what should be another exciting match tomorrow.

Isabella Salazar (EST) 5 6 3 6 6
Linda Kudrow (ILB) 7 4 6 4 2

Isabella Salazar was once a top notch tennis player. However, after giving birth to her son she had to take some time off. Now returning to the scene she hopes to regain the success she once had. In her opening match she looked awfully shaky. She missed many opportunities and made way too many unforced errors, including a double fault that cost her the first set. She also looked good at times too though. The final two sets looked as though she had returned to her championship form. And lucky for her she played well enough to advance to the third round.

Jared White/Brett Roley (EST) 6 6 6 6
James Obadunga/Oleg Sibirikov (SJG) 4 4 7 4

Jared White had played mixed doubles once before with Isabella Salazar and did pretty well but he had yet to play mens doubles. Brett Roley had always been a singles only player. However, when asked about potentially playing together as a doubles team, the two rivals jumped on the opportunity. Although it took some getting use to, since both are great singles players and big time rivals, they seemed to perform pretty well together. In their opening match, White/Roley defeated their opponents in four sets, the loss coming in a tiebreak. While this is their first match together, they still looked pretty good and might have a chance to win it all if they can keep up the play thy showed today.

Cenian Open Day 1: Overview
It's been a great day for the nation's Tennis stars today, with five of the Black Leaves' six candidates that took to the field winning their matches and progressing in the tournament. It was a particularly good day for Cenbar Muelly, who defeated Britonisean candidate Richard King in four sets, before teaming up with Byar Throrn to defeat Tim Read and Dexter Freeman of Ilovebenderdotcomland in straight sets. Also in the Men's, young prodigy Rivver Lexic eliminated Toby's Great Britain national Arthur Gore in a straightforward 4 set match. The women also fared excellently, with Lara Arnautovic overcoming the considerable hurdle of Rhianna Louis over five sets in the second TBL v BRI face off of the night. Indira Godina pulled off a surprise victory against Cenian up-and-comer Ciache Nayga, much to the disappointment of the home fans.

However, it wasn't all plain sailing. Despite an extremely strong start, Lexik Odar and Malachai Dewitt, the country's highest seed, were knocked out by the Doherty brothers of TGB. With a Men's singles tournament still to play however, will this defeat damage Dewitt's confidence? Only time will tell if this psychological hurdle damage the nation's favourite Tennis star's chances of taking the trophy at the end of the tournament.

Round 1 of Cenian Open!

By Terry Grantham

Over in Ceni the first results have come through from the Cenian Tennis Open and it spells a mixed day for Tobys Great Britain. Firstly ARTHUR GORE lost to the young Rivver Lexic from The Black Leaves. Many experts reckon that Arthur Gore has lost his speed and stamina and a comfortable four set victory for Lexic would confirm that. After a strong 6-2 victory in the first set Gore then lost the next three sets 2-6,3-6 and 1-6 with Lexic barely breaking a sweat.

WILFRED BADDELEY however performed better with his 6-0,3-6,7-5,4-6,7-5 five set win over Adam Ocelka. A long match taking just over 3 hours to complete but Baddeley felt well after it stating 'it feels good, it really does. Today was a good workout and next I have to face Malachai Dewitt of The Black Leaves. His compatriot knocked out Arthur so I may get revenge. Only joking of course but its a game I'm looking forward to. I can only hope his confidence has been knocked as he lost to our Doherty boys in the doubles.'

CHARLOTTE STERRY was eliminated from the open after losing in a close run five set match to Ingrid Helguson 6-7, 6-3, 2-6, 7-6, 4-6. She can however be extremely happy with her performance against a top player in the form of Helguson. Tennis expert Jo East said 'Charlotte has progressed a lot in the last year and can be proud of her performance. On a slightly softer surface she may well have won this match easily. However Helguson is a respectable player and I'm sure she will progress further'.

MAUD WATSON was defeated by Simona Rojekova after the feisty player from Tatras managed to control Watsons mid-match surge. Watson started slowly but went on a monster charge in sets two and three. Rojekova managed to nick set three and from then on it was simply a case of Rojekova shutting up shop and comfortably winning set four.

However continuing Tobys Great Britains relationship with The Black Leaves in this tournament REGINALD & LAURENCE DOHERTY defeated duo Malachai Dewitt and Lexik Odar to move them to joint first in Group D. In the other Group D match Josh Headly and Luca Chase defeated Jonas Martinez and Vladimir Lebuezidiatnikov.

Live coverage of the Cenian Open is on BBC 1 and 2 throughout the open whilst ITV is covering the World Tour of Cycling. There are many matches to come, many TGB athletes to cheer on as well as the big names to come in like Perry and Chambers. Tune in for the next few rounds.

Pauls Column

The article where tennis expert Paul Terry reviews the results.

Gunther Helguson/James Kansas (KAV) 6 3 5 6 6
William Renshaw/Ernest Renshaw (TGB) 4 6 7 1 0

This looks like a disappointing result for the Renshaw brothers especially considering the 'less talented' Doherty brothers have got off to a flying start. What should be remembered that the first three sets were dominated by the Renshaws and could have been game over. A couople of dubious umpire decisions in the first cost them. The weakness for the Renshaw twins is there mental stability. We saw it in the last two sets. When they get broken they just go to pot and seem to almost give up. This will need to worked upon and I think if they use their exuberant pace more then they can really be a force to reckon with. What is sure is that they need to win the next matches.

Reginald Doherty/Laurence Doherty (TGB) 2 6 7 7
Josh Headley/Luca Chase (SLL) 6 4 6 6

Lets not forget that Laurence Doherty is on a high after an excellent tennis year for him where he has even performed better than the legend that is Fred Perry. Him and brother Reginald have really excelled as underdogs in this tournament up to now. They have won two and are top of their group. They can be really proud of their achievements. Their main attributes is there determination to win and that they never give up. This is shown by how they won two tie breaks and in the last set came back from 1-4 down to win 7-6. They will go on now with 100% confidence and so they should. They are rapidly becoming the fans favourites due to their interview antics of speaking at the same time and how they continually acknowledge the crowd.

Elizabeth Taylor/Mary Lee (EST) 7 5 7 6
Winifred McNair/Dora Boothby (TGB) 6 7 6 4

This result did not spell a good start for the Womens Doubles. TGB Doubles champions McNair and Boothby lost to Taylor and Lee but it was a close match with three sets requiring a winning number of 7 games. The experience of McNair and Bootby will undoubtedly stand them in good stead for the rest of the tournament and you could see it was the pure athleticism of Taylor and Lee which finished them off. There is still a good chance that our pair will progress and as McNair said in her interview 'It only takes one win to change everything'.

John Kay/Lottie Dodd (TGB) 7 6 1 6
Gori Honilov/Ulla Honilov (ZAV) 5 3 6 2

Tobys Great Britain gained more success in the Mixed Doubles with man and wife John Kay and Lottie Dodd defeating another closely related pair in Gori and Ulla Honilov. Kay and Dodd out of all the teams from TGB are probably the best because they have intelligence and grace with Dodd supported by sheer athleticism with Kay. In a day and age where Mixed Doubles are not overly popular Kay and Dodd are rapidly rising to the top of all the rankings.

Keep on tuning in to all the matches as we see how the TGB tennis stars progress in this excellent tournament.

Jared White (EST) 6 7 6
Enzo Oppenheimer (NRC) 4 5 1

Brett Roley (EST) 7 6 6
Vojtech Jona (TAT) 5 2 4

Men's singles opened play today for Estope's two top stars. Neither disappointed. Jared White cruised to an easy straight set victory over Enzo Oppenheimer. While he played great throughout the match, he was especially dominate in the third set winning 6-1. Like usual he won using his consistent play and little errors. White hit 45 winners while only making 4 unforced errors. He was also clutch on break opportunities winning 5 of 5 break points. The number one seed he has received seemed justified after such an impressive match but he will face an even tougher challenge on Saturday when he will face Botack Andiam of the host country Ceni. While Jared White is the superior player, he is playing on Andiam's home turf. This could be a tough one but if White plays as good as he did today it should be another easy match. Expect this one to be a tougher test but still expect White to make it through to the next round in four sets.

Brett Roley also looked impressive in his opener, also winning in three sets. While he had some trouble at first, his power serve allowed him to pull it out. The match was over in only a hour and a half after Roley began making big serves, including 16 aces, and powerful returns. While Roley looked good out there, he still has some work to do if he wants to win yet another tournament. The road will only get tougher from here but Brett Roley has shown he can keep up and compete with the top. Up next for Roley is Dlyan Grapnuere. Grapnuere is a quality player but really just isn't on the same level as Roley. Expect Roley to win fairly easily if he makes his first serves in.

Daniela Perez (SJG) 6 7 6

Isabella Salazar (EST) 4 6 6 6 4
Linda Kudrow (ILB) 6 4 3 7 6

Elizabeth Taylor (EST) 3 3 6 6 4

Today was a bad day for the Estope women as all three of them were eliminated. Mary Lee lost in three sets to Daniela Perez. While this isn't too much of a surprise, a little more was expected out of Lee considering how she looked in her first round end. Still Lee needs to be proud of herself for making it this far. There will be big things for her in the future. Isabella Salazar was trying to make a comeback after leaving the game to have her child. Her return was less than spectacular as she lost in five sets. Had this been a traditional 3 set match, Salazar would have won but given the longer 5 set format, her fitness just wasn't there to keep up. While she is eliminated in singles, she still has a shot to win in mixed doubles with Jared White. Elizabeth Taylor, another first round surprise winner, also lost today in a close five set match. After losing the first two sets, Taylor battled back to win the next two and force a decisive set five. With all the momentum on her side she seemed to be nearing a victory. However, after getting up a break and serving at 4-2, she was broken back to back to lose the match. This was a heartbreaking loss for the Estopian youngster but gave her some valuable experience on the world stage. Elizabeth Taylor is definitely up-and-coming and will soon make her breakthrough. But as for now she will be upset after letting such a sure victory slip away.

Jared White/Brett Roley (EST) 6 5 6 6 7
Byar Throrn/Cenbar Muelly (TBL) 7 7 4 0 5

Jared White and Brett Roley sure do like to make it close in Men's Doubles. All three of their wins have been in five sets. Yesterday they battled through a tough one with Nordschen Anz and Daneland Anz and, despite losing two tiebreaks, they managed to pull out the victory. Again today they fell behind two sets to love but battled back to win the match in five. They are currently undefeated and first in their group. This is surprising as the two rivals paired up last minute and have clearly showed some issues playing together. With both used to being in the spot light, it is odd for them to have to share the court. However, the amount of talent that they have makes up for the lack of chemistry so far as they continue to win long, close matches. The only concern is that playing so many doubles matched could potentially drain their energy and focus away from the more important singles matches. And, with Jared White also playing mixed doubles, there is concern that he is stretching himself too thin. So far he is undefeated across the board but can that last? We will soon see.

Elena Ramirez/Martin Nieto (SJG) 6 6 5 2 3
Jared White/Isabella Salazar (EST) 2 4 7 6 6

As stated above, this is Isabella Salazar last chance to salvage her comeback. She and her partner Jared White looked good in their match but it took five sets to secure the victory. They are undefeated so far with only one win but if they want to remain so they must improve, and fast. They are a good pair and have had success in the past but the long break seems to have put them back some. They are not as sharp as they were in the past and made a lot more errors. This could be due to the fact the Jared White has focused mostly on singles and has turned from a doubles first to a primarily singles player. It could also be because of Isabella Salazar's break due to her baby. Whatever it is they need to turn it around pretty fast if they want to win.

Pauls Column

Hi guys, another round of matches have been played and Paul has analysed them all

Fred Perry (TGB) 6 4 4 6 9
Ricko Mozzarello (NEC) 0 6 6 3 7

Number 4 seed Fred Perry and TGB No.1 took the full five sets to defeat Number 29 seed Ricko Mozzarello. Perry got off to a flyer and won the first set 6-0 and I thought it was going to be a whitewash. However the plucky Mozzarello proved with the next two sets that he is no push over and won them both. Fred Perry is reknowned for his powerful forehand which is low, accurate and precise. And it was this that won him the last to sets as we can see that he kept smashing those baseline shots down the line and Mozzarello just could not return them.

Malachai Dewitt (TBL) 1 4 6 6
Wilfred Baddeley (TGB) 6 6 3 7

Wilfred Baddeley won his second match of the tournament and stunned number six seed Malachai Dewitt of The Black Leaves. This means Dewitt has lost in singles and doubles to TGB opposition. Baddeley out of all the players is probably the biggest surprise package out of the lot. He will have to perform at his best again if he is to knock out Giulio Lo Duca who is the 11th seed. Baddeley has a slow residual way of playing but he is determined and resiliant and that is allowing him to win as if and when he loses sets he comes back even stronger and today Malachai Dewitt just could not believe his eyes. Baddeley came out the blocks fast winning two sets. Dewitt then came back and won a set and would have expected Baddeley to crumble. This did not happen and Baddeley kept Dewitt on the run and won a close last set.

Jonas Martinez/Vladimir Lebeuzidiatnikov (SJG) 3 4 3
Reginald Doherty/Laurence Doherty (TGB) 6 6 6

The Doherty Brothers stunned the public again with a straight set victory over Jonas Martinez and Vladimir Lebeuzidiatnikov. This is now three wins out of three for them and they are taking this tournament by storm. Like I mentioned yesterday they are the perfect foil for each other and this is showing in there matches. They seem more rounded than their opposition. This is of stark contrast to the other Mens Doubles team the Renshaw brothers who have to admit they are outclassed by quality international opposition. The Dohertys need to make sure that they do not become complacent. Otherwise long may this run continue.

Dorothy Lambert Chambers (TGB) 4 6 6 2
Dshordshia Onc (ZAV) 6 7 2 6

If Wildred Baddeley is the surprise package then Dorothy Lambert Chambers is the biggest disappointment. Entering this open as the No.1 seed she crashed out in her first match in less than five sets to No.32 seed Dshordshia Onc. Chambers had one decent set but she was in and out of the match and this was a poor performance. Her usual rigerous backhands were sloppy and she never really looked like winning. She was overhitting shots by 13% more than normal and Onc deserved the victory. Chambers' performance should take nothing away from Oncs display.

Ethel Larcombe/Edith Hannam (TGB) 7 2 4 5
Verros Hartley/Abi Gail (BRI) 5 6 6 7

Ethel Larcombe and Edith Hannam got off to a bad start in their campaign losing in four sets to the ferocious pair of Verros Hartley and Abi Gail. All that can be said is that this hopefully will not restrict them too much as the leaders of the group only have 3 points and the TGB pair have a match in hand. Hartley and Gail pushed Larcombe and Hannam all the way even in the sets they lost and this ferocity paid off as the TGB pair could not handle all of the pressure and made mistakes.

James Parke/Agnes Tuckey (TGB) 5 6 6 1
Gunther Helguson/Ingrid Helguson (KAV) 7 4 7 6

Parke and Tuckey in contrast to Kay and Dodd got off to a bad start losing to the Helguson family. James Parke was in brilliant form but unfortunately Agnes Tuckey was not and somewhat let the side down. Despite this they still pushed the Helgusons all the way bar the last set which they lost 1-6 and Parke had started to tire. Tuckey needs to work on her fitness and her strength because today was a lacklustre performance and Tuckey herself said 'it doesn't feel right'.

More matches to come and plenty of tennis players to watch.

"Welcome to Tennis 680, home of the Llamanean Tennis Stars!"
"This is Tennis Tonite with Rob Kessler and me, Geoff Plum."
"Tonight, the Vargas Classic begins without key stars like Dustin Willenger and Mark Markos on the men's side."
"What about the women's side?"
"The Vargas Classic happens to be single-gender."
"Idiots."
"Yup."
"So."
"In the most boring rally-off game possible, Fifty-eight seed Jordan Burns and seventy-one seed George Harm faced off. Harm slogged out to a 5-3 lead before injuring himself and giving Burns the win."
"Horrible. They couldn't do a thing, and ripped off twenty thousand fans."
"Anyway, in Ceni..."
"Josh Headley and Luca Chase fell to Toby Great Britain's dynamic duo of Doherty and...other Doherty, 6-2, 4-6, and a pair of heartbreaking tiebreak losses."
"They blew a four to one lead in the final set to force tiebreaker. Chase double-faulted up six to five to make a deuce."
"Ouch."
"They didn't recover, and lost to fall to second."
"Ick."
"Meanwhile, all four of our women's doubles players are in the same group."
"Hmm."
"Del Ray and Reyes, those fantastic cousins, easily defeated Amatkova and Fyodorovna of , 6-3/6-0/7-6."
"They fell 3-0 in that first and last set. They won twelve games in a row and really deserved that win."
"Gray and Lancier faced the hosts Xal and Xal."
"Xal and Xal won 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-1."
"Ick."
"Horrible."
"A below average performance there."
"Markos and Reyes won in the mixed doubles."
"They beat their opponents in straight sets."
"Also, Dustin Willinger and Jordan McKenzie won."
"Yay?"
"We had a lot of hope, but most of it's left."
"Until then!"

Tennis Success

Image

By Guy Matthews

Today was by far the most successful day for Tennis of Tobys Great Britain. First thing in the morning of Day Four William and Ernest Renshaw were in action in Group B of the mens doubles against Dyar Tarten and Byrz Zywig. They needed a win having lost there first match and they did this in four sets 4-6, 7-6, 7-6, 6-4. Noted columnist Paul Terry criticised the Renshaws saying 'when they are broken they fall away and go to pot'. William and Ernest put this rumour to bed in the first set when they were broken straight away but still gave a good game. They then won the next three albeit closely and they are now up to joint third place in Group B.

In the TGB Tennis Season we are just entering the hard court section and so the players will have been training for this and today has shown this is the case. Bunny Austin who is TGB No.4 could not make this due to injury but he sent a message saying 'This tournament fits in perfectly with our season and good luck to the competitiors'

Another doubles partnership- Winifred McNair and Dora Bootby also got off to a bad start in this tournament and were another pair criticised by Paul Terry. Just like the Renshaws they also did exactly the opposite of what Terry said they were doing wrong- very embarrassing for Terry. They defeated Missy Petite and Melissa Westly of Estope in four sets 6-2, 6-7, 6-4, 6-1 and it was a dominant performance.

The other womens partnership of Ethel Larcombe and Edith Hannam also lost their first match but were even better than the other teams today defeating Ayah and Mensah Kadyrov of The Black Leaves 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 meaning that virtually all of The Black Leaves competitors have been knocked out or beaten by TGB opposition.

In the mixed doubles however James Parke and Agnes Tuckey lost for a second time making their chances of qualification very slim indeed. During their match they did not even look like getting into it. Curiously Terry was right it seems with their criticism as Tuckey was again sluggish. That should be investigated as it is most irregular.

However the other mixed doubles team- Man and Wife John Kay and Lottie Dodd made it two out of two with their 6-2, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 victory of Alexis and Dlyan Grapnuere moving them up to joint first with the Honilovs but with a match in hand.

Such was the stirring success today The Secretary for Culture Arthur Henderson sent a congratulations message to the team but warned them that there is still an abundance of top class intrnational competitiion to compete with.

"Welcome to the Courtside Seat, the weekly tennis program. I'm your host, Alyro Kellele. Today, we have the latest updates from the Cenian Open with noted tennis analysts Aythaki Xellbaxsan and Bennir Loco. We also have our Tennis Tips section, where you call in with tips about tennis. Today, our special segment "Bag Check" with tennis star Botack Andiam. All of this and more after the news."

"Welcome to the Courtside Seat, I'm Alyro Kellele. First today we talk about the progress Cenian stars have made in the Cenian Open, hosted at the Serengeti Tennis Club, located in San Xavier de Victoria, part of the Cenian Combined Earth Territories (CCET). Today we have with us Cenian Times Sports editor and amateur tennis player Aythaki Xellbasan in our Cenaci studios. We also have Bennir Loco, a CSN tennis analyst, also in our Cenaci studios. Great to have you with us."

"Thanks for having me."
"My pleasure."

"This is the first year the Cenian Open has been held in CCET, and it's also the first time it has been open to other nations. Is this an important event, Aythaki?"

"Yes, this is definitely an important event in the history of Cenian tennis, Alyro. Another important fact to mention is that all players in this tournament will be ranked in the ATP, the Association of Tennis Professionals. Winners of the previous Cenian domestic tournaments, the big four (the Cenaci Open, the Katinal Open, the Katrala Open, and the Michosplak Open) are not ranked internationally."

"How good are our players, Bennir?"

"Our best players, Botack Andiam and Ardil Navsal are ranked eighth and seventh in the ATP, respectively, due to their second round showings in the last Olympics in Orean. Ceni has a history of good tennis, Alyro, and our players competing in the Cenian Open are no exception."

"Let's go to the second round of Men's Singles. Botack Andiam defeated Rudolf Rasko of Tatras in straight sets, 6-2,6-0,7-5. Wow, he had a really good game there."

"Yes, he did. His power serve and great volleys allowed Andiam to dominate the second set, six-love. One of the most impressive sets by Andiam that I've seen in a long time, in spite of his second round defeat in the Orean Olympics that inspired the 'Botack Andiam syndrome' among Cenian athletes. Some great rallies in that game, but overall, Andiam was near his best. He'll need to repeat his performance to win against number one seed Jared White of Estope."

"Bennir, please tell us about the loss of Ciache Nagya."

"Well, that was one of the saddest losses. This was Nagya's first tournament outside of Ceni, and she was a rising star within the Cenian tennis scene. Two tiebrakers in the middle two sets but Indira Godina of The Black Leaves managed to defeat her in four sets. In several of her games there were long deuces, but Nagya did not win enough points to pull out a victory in the second round."

"Delb'ghell'ocar'i, the Andraxi expat, also lost, but in five sets."

"Yes, it took that long for Jared Hart of Super-Llamaland to defeat him. He won a tiebraker in the second-to-last set but it was not enough to secure a victory for the up-and-coming tennis star. Some long deuces in that set too, but it looks like Delb'ghell'ocar'i is going to need to change or at least modify his serve-and-volley strategy. It usually works, but it failed him this time."

"Some bad losses, some good wins on day three. Elaine Foyner lost in straight sets."

"She's too old. She has a lot of experience, but that wasn't enough to save her from Lara Arnautovic's drop shots. She took advantage of Foyner's age and was tricky, tricky, tricky with that ball, hitting it where Foyner couldn't reach. But Ardil Navsal won in straight sets that day, 7-5, 6-4, 6-1."

"How is doubles going in the Cenian Open?"

"All of our players are at the top of their respective groups except for Ame Leoop and Badr Nate."

"Thank you for joining us today."

"My pleasure."

"Thank you for having us."

" Aythaki Xellbasan is a Cenian Times sports editor, and Bennir Loco is a CSN Tennis analyst. Both were here in our Cenaci studios."

From the Sports Desk, here's the latest update from the Cenian Open.

Botack Andiam lost his match to Jared White in five sets, a long match. He played well but was not up to the footwork of the Estopean player, whose footwork and low shots made mincemeat out of the Cenian star in the first game. He then went on to win two sets on a power serve but his serve lost him in the last game of the fourth set, where White avoided a tiebraker due to a double fault.

Meanwhile, Gaspare Lucchese creamed through Ardil Navsal in straight sets, 6-3,6-2,7-5. The game was too boring to mention. Navsal didn't go for shots that he could have returned. Definitely a poor play from one of Ceni's best.

An error was made by the organizers of the tournament, who accidentally scheduled Britonesians Harrold Dean and Gary Bart to play in two groups in the Men's Doubles competition, leaving out Estope's Javier Bochenek and Phil Holdorf. The organizers have said that they will admit the Estopean players to the elimination round of the tournament due to their error. Dean and Bart will have a place in the elimination round depending on their finish.

That's today's updates in the Cenian Open, straight from the sports desk.

OOC: I apologise profusely for letting the RP slip- have been ridiculously busy in RL

Pauls Column

Fred Perry

Fred Perry has done well of late getting back to back wins over No.20 seed Jared Hart and No.12 seed Dlyan Grapnuere. Despite all this he now faces his biggest test as he plays world No.1 Jared White in the semi-final. Perry's forehand has been pristine in this competition and his backhand has come along way in the last year. With his form he has proven that he can battle when needed and this can carry through to the semi-final as it will be a close match. Jared White is reknowned for his sublime skill and rounded game but all TGB fans are hoping that Perry can pull of the win and enter the final.

Renshaw Brothers

The Renshaw Brothers won their last match against Adam Jones and Cordy Abu Nakr however they have failed to qualify automatically and so must compete in a play off. They have been inconsistent in this tournament and that has undoubtedly cost them. However now would be a perfect time to hit form and they showed signs of starting to gel again in the last match and they no longer crumble under pressure as shown in the last two sets. Earlier on in the tournament they would have crashed and burned there but they regained composure from being 5-1 down in the final set to win 7-5 and win in straight sets. They'll need two wins out of two to progress and Wiliam stated afterwards that they had 100% confidence.

Doherty Brothers

Laurence and Reginald Doherty by contrast have perfromed surprisingly well taking 12 out of 15 points possible and winning their group. They have a automatic place in the next round and their 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 demolition of Martin Krivcik and Ondrej Hiciar looked easy. Complacency will be their issue and we saw it in the last set where they dropped some stupid points. They have to remember that they are not the best doubles partnership in the world and unless they continue to try 100% then they will ultimately crash and burn.

McNair/Boothby

Winifred McNair and Dora Boothby had a poor poor start to this tournament but they had redeemed themselves now as they are top of their group by a clear 3 points with a match in hand and they have just recorded a four set victory over Ruslana Fiodorovna and Marta Chornomoretsova. McNair with the experience luckily is starting to get Boothby to perform in the right position with the right game plan. They are a team that have gradually improved throughout this fantastic competition but still are not convincing the public and the experts that they can win.

Hannam/Larcombe

Ethel Larcombe and Edith Hannam have added to the disappointment of Womens TGB Tennis after all female competitiors crashed out of the singles. The duo lie a lowly fourth in their group- 9 points of leaders Van Gooch and Smith. The only advantage is that they defeated Godina and Arnautovic of The Black Leaves who must be getting sick of TGB opposition. I think we can safely write these off as it is now highly doubtful that they will progress at all and we can just enjoy watching their last match.

Parke/Tuckey

Another loss, another disappointment, zero points and cut adrift and the bottom of their group by six points. They have let the side down and I have nothing further to say about them. How an international team can lose five on the bounce is beyond me.

Kay/Dodd

John Kay and Lottie Dodd fair play to them are giving it as good as they have got though. They have just defeated Marquez/Chernyashev in four sets and barring a bizarre disaster in the second set which they lost 0-6 it was a rather comfortable victory. They are now joint first and are in a good position to progress in this tournament. They have a good court chemistry and it can be seen easily on all the footage that they both know exactly what the other is doing and that helps enormously out there. They communicate well and that is part of their success in my opinion.

We are at the business end of the tournament now with a number of players to cheer on. So keep cheering!

A lot of matches have gone on in Women's Doubles but the results continue to be the same. Elizabeth Taylor and Mary Lee are finished with competition and went 3-3. They had some good matches but were horribly inconsistent. Luckily for them, everyone else in the group has done poorly as well and they currently sit in second place. However, after tomorrows matches they will likely be eliminated. Missy Petite and Melissa Westly also have done badly and have won only 2 out of 5. Even with a win tomorrow they will most likely not go on. While this was a poor showing for the two ladies teams, it was not at all unexpected. In fact they have exceeded expectations and really have shown to have quite a future in the sport.

Jared White (EST) 6 2 3 7 6
Botack Andiam (CEN) 1 6 6 5 4

Jared White (EST) 6 7 7
Bob Len (ILB) 2 5 5

Jared White has won two more matches and will now advance on to the semi-finals. He first defeated Botack Andiam of the host nation Ceni in a thrilling five set match. After a great first set where he played as well as he ever has, he struggled and winded up losing the next two sets. In the end White was able to pull it out with his skill and finesse. He also benefitted from some ill timed errors by Andiam including a double fault that gave White the fourth set. The next match for White went much better as he breezed by Bob Len in three sets to advance to the semifinals. Len was just overmatched. Jared White is looking good now as he marches ever closer to a title. His next opponent won't be easy. Fred Perry of Tobys Great Britain is Jared White's next opponent. Perry has an excellent forehand and has been playing superb tennis throughout the Cenian Open. White has been pretty good himself and so this sets the stage for a huge matchup. White has the skill and experience to win the entire tournament and really should be favored to win. However if he makes too many errors or Perry comes out playing extremely well there could be trouble for the Estopian star.

Brett Roley (EST) 4 6 5 6 5
Dlyan Grapnuere (DLI) 6 1 7 4 7

Brett Roley, who was one of the favorites to win the tournament, was upset in five sets. The match went back and forth the entire time and despite Roley winning nearly every statistical category, Grapnuere came out on top. It was just a bad match for Roley who made many uncharacteristic mistakes and couldn't capitalize on opportunities. However this isn't the end for Roley. He is still young and has a lot of talent. There is a bright future ahead of him. He is also still in over in doubles and he and Jared White are doing pretty well and hope to win the title in doubles.

Jared White/Brett Roley (EST) 6 6 6
Tim Read/Dexter Freeman (ILB) 4 3 4

Damian Hawr/Oleg Fyodorovich (RZN) 6 6 6

Jared White/Brett Roley (EST) 3 3 3

Jared White and Brett Roley have been looking good. They have advanced on the the playoffs for doubles after winning the group. The dynamic duo lost only a single match, a shocking three set loss. Of course that loss came after they were assured a playoff spot so they may not have been trying as hard. They took some time to gain some chemistry but they seem to finally be playing well together. They should go far in the playoffs and probably have the best shot of anyone to win it all.

Lara Arnautovic (TBL) 1 4 3
Isabella Salazar (EST) 6 6 6

Daniela Perez (SJG) 6 3 6 6

Isabella Salazar (EST) 4 6 2 2

Isabella Salazar lost and then was back in. Won one and then lost again. But this time it was for real. Salazar took advantage of a second chance and won in straight sets immediately after being eliminated and then reinstated. However she eventually fell in four sets in the quarterfinals. Conditioning was definitely a problem for Salazar and must improve if she wants to do better in the future. This was a fairly successful comeback but still has a way to go before she is back to championship form.

Jared White/Isabella Salazar (EST) 5 6 6 6
Javier Bochenek/Elizabeth Taylor (EST) 7 4 2 2

James Kansas/Tina Thurten (KAV) 3 6 6 4 4
Jared White/Isabella Salazar (EST) 6 0 4 6 6

Gunther Helguson/Ingrid Helguson (KAV) 2 2 1
Jared White/Isabella Salazar (EST) 6 6 6

Jared White and Isabella Salazar continue to dominate the mixed doubles as they are currently in first place and have all but assured themselves a spot in the playoffs. They are for real and still look as good as they always have. Even more than ever they have shown to play at a championship caliber. And that is their goal. Anything other than a first place trophy would be a failure for these experienced veterans. Jared White still has singles, which are a priority for him, but Isabella Salazar is out of her singles and can put her undivided attention on this doubles team.

LANCIER! The Women Singles Preview.

Postby Super-Llamaland » Tue Sep 10, 2013 2:40 pm

Fiona Lancier (SLL) 6 6 4 3 6

Fiona Lancier (Lan-see-AY, not Lan-see-ER) is in the Semifinal. Her opponents? Semifinal opponent Daniela Perez of San Jose Guayabal, and possible finals opponents Poppy Albrighton (Kavmakao) and Zarema Vizirov (TBL).

So...
Lancier (85) v. Perez (90)
Albrighton (80) v. Vizirov (97)

When looked at this way, Lancier is a slight underdog as the number eight seed against four-seed Perez, who beat Estope's Salazar in four sets to face Lancier. However, that's nothing like Albrighton (the spunky fourteen-seed who didn't actually beat anybody too great, Turasova did that for her), the obvious underdog against Vizirov (the two-seed who has lost three sets the entire tournament).

The top seed, the third seed, the fifth seed, and the sixth seed were casualties of upsets by the thirty-second seed, thirtieth seed, twenty-eighth seed, and the twenty-second seed. It's worth knowing that upsets can happen.

<Schottia> I always think of Ceni as what it would be like if Long Island was its own nation, ran by Bernie Sanders lol.

Another Round at Ceni Completed!

The tennis fans of TGB must be getting excited now as today was another success for the tennis players of Tobys Great Britain.

The RENSHAW BROTHERS won their Tiebraker against Harrold Dean and Gary Bart of Britonsea and now progress into the next round. They and the Doherty Brothers will both look to progress further now and this can be seen as success. The Renshaw Brothers are finally starting to work together and they are starting to now to combine their range of shots and positions to make them more difficult to beat.

WINIFRED MCNAIR & DORA BOOTHBY confirmed their progression into the next round and qualifying from the group stages after a 3-6, 7-5, 7-6, 6-3 victory over the duo of Ingles and Gusadarova and have now finished top of their group. They showed again during sets two and three again that they have perseverence and that they can hold on to win and come from behind like today after losing the first set. McNair and Boothby had a poor start but they have excelled since then.

ETHEL LARCOMBE & EDITH HANNAM however away threw away their chances of qualification after a poor performance and being totally outclassed by their opposition. This meant they have finished fifth when they could have finished third and as a result have crashed out of the tournament. They will return to Tobys Great Britain as a pair who have performed moderately well but could have done so much more.

PARKE & TUCKEY lost yet again to finish bottom of the group with a fantaric 0 points. They have now been eliminated and it is probably doubtful that they will be picked for international competition again.

JOHN KAY & LOTTIE DODD however did the nation proud by defeating Rhea Durant and James Rencini in straight sets and finishing joint top of their group alongside the brilliant Honilovs who John Kay in an interview stated would win 'this great tournament'.

Tomorrow we have another set of matches involving the first rounds of the Womens, Mens and Mixed Doubles so we will have to wait a further day to watch Fred Perry in action against world No.1 Jared White in the semi-finals.
