Welcome to the Socialist Federation of Barunia. Barunia has four very different states, each with it's own unique quality. Games for the Twenty20 World Championships will be played in every state, so the whole country will have a chance to see some of the world's best cricketers in action.

Porthaven State
All teams will have a chance to visit this state, which also has the honour of housing Barunia's capital (also called Porthaven), when they arrive at Haven City International Airport. The most cosmopolitan of Barunia's cities, Porthaven is also known as a city of culture, and a visit to the opera house, art gallery or Federation Park should be on every visitor's list. North of the capital is the manufacturing centre of Dropshort, home to the Archer Motor Company and the Dropshort Ducks, Barunia's most successful cricket league team.

Porthaven Cricket Ground Will host: Group matches, Quarter-final matches
The PCG has an almost square field, so batsmen will find the boundaries easily with a well-executed cut or pull shot. The pitch has good bounce and should favour fast bowlers over spin.

Factory Park Will host: semi-final matches
Located in Dropshort, factory park is a smaller field compared to others in the country. The pitch tends to be hard and dry, and with hot conditions could become a perfect dustbowl for spinners.

West Barunia State
Occupying the western side of Barunia island, West Barunia is known for its deep, thick forests and rugged terrain. The state capital, Newland, was also a major focal point during the Barunian Civil War, and the signs still remain. Some buildings still lie in ruins, half hidden by scaffolding, and in the harbour the remains of the Republican warships sunk here have been formed into a lasting memorial to the struggle. Other memorials can be found in suburbs and locations of major events.

In the south-west of the state is Sheppardton. Located on the Sheppard river, this city is one of the fastest growing cities in Barunia. Once a small logging community, Sheppardton is now a vibrant city with a keen focus on eco-tourism and environmental awareness.

Newland Cricket Club Ground Will host: Group matches, Quarter-finals matches
The NCC is the oldest cricket club in Barunia, and as such Newland has the honour of being the oldest cricket ground in the country. The long boundaries will prove a challenge for any batsmen, and the pitch surface has been prepared to equally favour pace and spin bowlers. According to a long standing tradition, any batsmen who can hit the clock on the roof of the member's stand will receive a cash prize. In it's 62-year history, it's only been done four times.

Sheppardton Cricket Ground Will host: Group matches
Sheppardton is one of the wettest places in Barunia, but the Barunian Cricket Council is hopeful that the weather will hold off for the competition. The air however will be humid, so playing consistently will be a challenge, while the pitch tends to produce less bounce then other pitches in the country.

Marion State
Dominated by the mountain at it's heart, Marion is known as the adventure capital of Barunia. Much of the country's early wealth was derived from the potassium nitrate mines along the cave-pocked coast. Marion's capital is Edwardton, however the city does not have a cricket field. Games in Marion will instead be played in the city of Fairweather. Situated on the curve of the Bay of Good Fortune on Marion's southern coastline, Fairweather has grown in recent times, thanks partly to it's role as a major allied command centre during the Civil War.

Fairweather Cricket Ground Will host: Group matches, semi-final matches
The second largest ground in the country, it might seem like it would be hard to score boundaries on this immense oval field. However, the outfield is extremely quick, and even poorly struck balls can race away for four. The pitch will favour spinners slightly, but pacemen should still get some good bounce out of it.

Tildos State
The state of Tildos comprises of Tildos island and all the northern isles, and is the biggest state by land area. The capital of Delmars, located on Tildos island, is a huge city, second only in size to Porthaven. The cricket ground here is also the second largest in the stadium, and will play host to the grand final. The township of Monte Sol, east of Delmars, will also host games. A large number of people in Tildos speak Spanish as their first language, however thanks to a favourable education system the vast majority are also fluent in english.

The first settlers to these islands were Spanish, and they first came to the island of San Baptiste. Visiting players will have a chance to explore the beginnings of Barunia's history when they visit the city of Northport-San Baptiste for their match.

Delmars Stadium Will host: Grand Final
Also used as a football ground, this circular stadium is almost sacred ground for sports fans in Barunia. As befitting the ground selected to decide the next Twenty20 World Champions, the pitch is hard, the boundaries are long and the outfield is quick. All this, and the 100,000 fans in the stands, should make for an exciting climax.

Estadio Del Sol Group matches
The paint is barely dry on this brand new stadium in Monte Sol. Another round field, this one is smaller and could provide some interesting results. Only a few practice games have been played here, so the field characteristics have yet to be determined.

San Baptiste Cricket Ground Group matches
This squarish ground is part of a multi-sport complex, and is located in the heart of Northport-San Baptiste. A soft pitch may favour spinners, but the field should offer a good balance between bat and ball.

List of grounds in order of play for group A (See below for other groups): Porthaven Cricket Ground, Fairweather Cricket Ground, Newland Cricket Club Ground, Sheppardton Cricket Ground, Estadio Del Sol, San Baptiste Cricket Ground

One Matchday 1, Group A will play at the first ground on the list, Group B a the second, Group C at the third and so on. On Matchday 2, Group A will play at the second ground, Group B will play at the third, Group H at the first, and so on, continuing with that cycle for the remaining matchdays.

The Tigers

Image

17 years ago Padmai, a small region in a peninsular, was attacked by Kriegiersien. They bombed the cities and villages until the local leaders and warlords made a pact with them. The different regions of the isle were united as region Ghandi and merged into the empire. But the wish for independence stayed.

Cricket was always an acient and beloved sport in especially Padmai and some of the best players play here. Even as the war took its toll, the best club, the Padmai Tigers dominates the scene since decades. They were chosen to represent Kriegersien in the Twenty20 World Championship, even though in their hearts they are Padmai only and want to show that to the World in Barunia.

The nation of Saugeais is emerging onto the world cricket scene, where despite not knowing much about the sport, managed to nearly win the 3rd T20 tournament. The team consists of eleven cricketers that, while originally playing for fun and experience, are now the top T20 cricketers within the nation. Expectations are almost unrealistically high, but as captain François Faucher has said, "When you get 10 yards from the pinnacle only to be knocked off the mountain, you want to climb back up and reach the very top the next time. That's our goal going into this tournament: to win it all."

Cheltish selectors name squad for World Twenty20 Championships
The CCB selectors have named the 15-man Cheltish squad that will be competing in the fourth World Twenty20 Championships in Barunia.

Two new faces will be making their first appearance in Cheltish colours, Bill Donovan and Iain Beattie, both left-handed batsmen who have shown talent in the domestic Challengers Tourney T20 league.

The Cheltish side may be weakened by the absence of Test captain Percy Waight, who no longer competes in international T20s. Test vice-captain and veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Donald Goss has assumed the captaincy of Chelta in the WT20. Phil Moody assumes the vice-captaincy role.

Another noted absence in the T20 side is star Test leg spinner Alistair May, who also no longer participates in international T20s. However, his leg-spinning understudy Sean Howell comes into the side as first-choice Cheltish spinner.

Liventia name 18-man squad for WT20
Liventia have named an 18-man squad led by Thomas Jonsson for the upcoming fourth World Twenty20 Championships to be held in Barunia.

Of the squad, 11 were named to the last WT20, while there is a twenty-over return for captain Jonsson, who missed the last tournament due to injury but played in the recent Pentangular Series which Liventia won.

After being overlooked for the Pentangular Series, Garland Goudreau returns as reserve wicketkeeper for the world's sixth-ranked T20 side, who retain the services of Test captain Max Finney behind the stumps.

Kevin Christensen is the only player named in the 18 who has not previously been selected to a Liventia squad in any format of cricket. The 20-year-old lower mid-order all-rounder will provide a useful left-hand bat in addition to a tricky medium-pace delivery.

4. Richard Brooks (WK)
5. Fran Hilda
6. Kate Finika
7. Alan Carpenter
8. Vincent McMorrow
9. Sammie the Wise (OGD)
10. Sam Vernon
11. Eva Arnesen (CPB)

The match was played at Benson Bridge in Dwile, chosen because it is the largest stadium in Apox built specifically for cricket. The Compilation XI won the toss, and decided to bat first in sunny conditions, with the temperature at 20oC and with a dry, swing friendly pitch, in conditions which would probably favour the bowlers.

Compilation XI Batting Innings
CXI 1st over: Miles Scott |. 1 1 . 2 . 1 | Giles Greaves 0, Kaley White 0
It was a slow first over, with the Apox XI managing to contain the vivacious Giles Greaves who was desperate to dispatch it for four, with Chris Benthron diving to stop a four, Greaves having to content with 2 runs.

CXI 2nd over: Sasha Gibbs |. 4 1 . . 2 | Giles Greaves 4, Kaley White 1
Newly promoted to the international squad, Gibbs fired a tricky first ball at Greaves, who then spanked her second ball for a big four. Kaley White struggled to deal with Gibbs’ swing, having two dot balls.

CXI 3rd over: Miles Scott |4 2 1 1 . . W | Giles Greaves 9, Kaley White 3
Greaves pounced on two poor ball at the start of the over, as Scott looked to be in a bit of discomfort. However, White clearly wasn’t settled, and after Scott bowled a wide, she was caught behind, edging the ball through to Sam Gugh.

CXI 4th over: Sasha Gibbs |1 . 4 1 4 . | Giles Greaves 16, Jake Walters 0
Jake Walters was the new man in, and his first ball was a dot, though Sasha Gibbs offered up a lovely ball which was driven away for 4. Greaves had definitely warmed up, manoeuvring well to sweep for four.

CXI 5th over: Scott Gilbert |. 4 3 4 . 1 1 | Giles Greaves 21, Jake Walters 5
A change in the bowling attack, as Scott Gilbert replaces Miles Scott, as he is smashed around the ground by Jake Walters and then Giles Greaves. A no-ball summed up his poor opening over.

CXI 6th over: Sasha Gibbs |4 . 2 1 1 1 | Giles Greaves 26, Jake Walters 12
Giles is once again only too happy to smack Sasha Gibbs around, with a boundary and a powerful pull shot which is stopped by Claire Slater. A series of quick singles then ensues.

CXI 7th over: Scott Gilbert |. 2 . 1 . 1| Giles Greaves 34, Jake Walters 13
Scott Gilbert showed his skill here, making it increasingly difficult for the batsmen to score, in the end, the batsmen had to resort to quick singles to keep the scoreboard ticking over.

CXI 8th over: Sasha Gibbs |4 1 W 2 W .| Giles Greaves 37, Jake Walters 14
Sasha Gibbs here demonstrated her skill, and despite being hit about a bit by Jake Walters at the start of the over, she improved, with Giles Greaves caught out trying to hit a six, before Richard Brooks played onto his own wicket trying to drive a shot into the on side.

CXI 9th over: Scott Gilbert |. 1 . 2 2 1| Jake Walters 19, Fran Hilda 0
The tempo of the game seems to have died down somewhat, with Jake Walters pushing a single into cover, before Fran Hilda exploited the lack of a third man to score two two’s and a single to retain the strike.

CXI 10th over: Aram Dhawa |. 4 4 1 4 .| Jake Walters 20, Fran Hilda 5
Dhawa was trying too hard to tempt Hilda into spooning up a catch – she found the gaps and exploited them, scoring two fours, before Jake Walters does the same thing.

CXI 11th over: Scott Gilbert |3 . 1 . . 1| Jake Walters 21, Fran Hilda 14
Fran scores three off a saves boundary by Chris Benthron, but Jake Walters struggles dealing with the swinging ball, only nicking a single, before Fran Hilda struggles too.

CXI 12th over: Aram Dhawa |1 . 4 . 4 2| Jake Walters 22, Fran Hilda 18
Hilda gets a quick single, then Jake Walters does some magnificent footwork to hook and drive two fours, also getting a third but the slow outfield allows a fielder to get there in time.

CXI 13th over: Jazz Caulderon |2 . 3 . . .| Jake Walters 32, Fran Hilda 19
Fran Hilda fires a couple of balls around the ground, then Jake Walters struggles against the quite easy bowling of Jazz Caulderon, leaving three dot balls.

CXI 14th over: Aram Dhawa |4 . W . 1 2| Jake Walters 32, Fran Hilda 24
Fran Hilda dispatches Dhawa for a four, before being straight bowled by one that come nipping back in. Kate Finika is next in, she scores a quick single.

CXI 15th over: Jazz Caulderon |. 1 6 . 1 .| Jake Walters 34, Kate Finika 1
Kate Finika is slowly warming up to the game, and she nicks a quick single, then Jake Walters hits a big six, only managing a single later on in the over though.

CXI 16th over: Aram Dhawa |1 . . . 2 1| Jake Walters 41, Kate Finika 2
And Aram Dhawa’s last over curbs the potentially exponential run rate, Kate Finika getting a single, then Jake Walters managing to drive a ball for two at the end.

CXI 17th over: Kelly Crookshaw |. . 2 . 1 .| Jake Walters 47, Kate Finika 3
Jake Walters reaches his half century in quite a slow over, and what has happened to the run rate? It’s being well controlled by Apox XI, that’s for sure.

CXI 18th over: Miles Scott |. . . W . .| Jake Walters 50, Kate Finika 3
What?! A wicket maiden?! In T20 cricket?! Apparently so, as Miles Scott bowls a wonderful over, ball after ball being difficult to play, the highlight being a stunning catch by Sam Gugh off a Kate Finika edge.

CXI 19th over: Kelly Crookshaw |. . 4 . 1 .| Jake Walters 50, Alan Carpenter 0
Jake Walters manages to up the tempo, pulling Kelly Crookshaw for 4, while Alan Carpenter is really just there to guard the other end at this stage.

CXI 20th over: Miles Scott |. 1 . . . 1| Jake Walters 56, Alan Carpenter 0
And so Miles Scott bowls the last over, another one which the Compilation XI just can’t get around, or move specifically Alan Carpenter, who must be still very much in First-class mode. The total that the Apox XI will be chasing? 132, after the Compilation XI get 132/5.

Apox XI Batting Innings – Target of 132
AXI 1st over: Eva Arnesen |. . 2 . 1 .| Sam Gugh 0, Jazz Caulderon 0
Eva Arnesen gets the honour of the first over at the Apox XI, and manages to restrict the scoring well, Sam Gugh getting two down to fine leg.

AXI 2nd over: Sam Vernon |. 1 . 4 1 .| Sam Gugh 3, Jazz Caulderon 0
And Sam Vernon, team mate of Eva Arnesen at Mountainshire does quite well in his first over, except for a poor ball which is smacked for four at mid on.

AXI 3rd over: Eva Arnesen |2 1 . W . 1 | Sam Gugh 4, Jazz Caulderon 5
Jazz manages to deal excellently with the swing of Eva Arnesen, though Sam Gugh struggles, spooning up a catch for Jake Walters to catch easily.

AXI 4th over: Sam Vernon |1 1 . 4 4 . 1| Jazz Caulderon 8, Claire Slater 1
Sam Vernon starts poorly with a wide, and is then dispatched around the ground, as Jazz Caulderon really starts to get into scoring mode. Claire Slater steadying the ship at the other end.

AXI 5th over: Vincent McMorrow |. 4 1 . 3 .| Jazz Caulderon 17, Claire Slater 2
Vincent McMorrow is brought into the attack, and he struggles somewhat to contain the batsman, with Claire Slater hitting a wonderful cover drive, which Jazz Cauderon repeats a couple of balls later, getting stopped just before the boundary.

AXI 6th over: Sam Vernon |4 1 W 1 . 4| Jazz Caulderon 20, Claire Slater 7
Jazz Caulderon gets an edge on the ball and it runs away for four, then a single, then a big edge carries to Fran Hilda at first slip for Claire Slaters wicket. Jazz Caulderon then confidently drives away a four to end the over.

AXI 7th over: Vincent McMorrow |. 2 1 1 W 1 .| Jazz Caulderon 29, Gill Smith 1
And now Vincent McMorrow shows his form, after Gill Smith cuts a good ball for two. A series of quick singles, then Smith is trapped lbw. A no-ball is not capitalised on by Kelly Crookshaw.

AXI 8th over: Sam Vernon |. 4 2 1 . 1| Jazz Caulderon 30, Kelly Crookshaw 0
Jazz scores yet more runs as she really begins to accelerate, while wickets tumble around her. Kelly Crookshaw is lucky after a dropped catch.

AXI 9th over: Vincent McMorrow |1 1 1 4 . 4| Jazz Caulderon 37, Kelly Crookshaw 1
Kelly Crookshaw and Jazz Caulderon do some good running to start off the over, before Jazz Caulderon takes great pleasure in dispatching Vincent for two fours.

AXI 10th over: Sammie the Wise |2 . 4 . . 1 2| Jazz Caulderon 46, Kelly Crookshaw 3
And now Apox are motoring, as Sammie the Wise’s spin is what Kelly loves, despatching a couple of balls around the ground, before Jazz does likewise.

AXI 11th over: Vincent McMorrow |1 . 2 . 1 W| Jazz Caulderon 48, Kelly Crookshaw 10
Kelly runs a single to allow Jazz Caulderon to get her half century, before Kelly Crookshaw cannot get her bat to ball in time, and she is straight bowled.

AXI 12th over: Sammie the Wise |4 1 . 1 1 . .| Jazz Caulderon 51, Chris Benthron 0
Jazz Caulderon is keen to stay aggressive, she knows that they can still beat the Compilation team’s score by keeping the run rate ticking over. Chris Benthron is now also in, and he chips in with a couple of singles, as well as a leg bye.

AXI 13th over: Kate Finika |2 . 1 6 2 .| Jazz Caulderon 56, Chris Benthron 1
Chris Benthron flicks the ball off his pads for 2, then Jazz Caulderon bring out the fireworks, dancing down the wicket to send the ball back from whence it came for six.

AXI 14th over: Sammie the Wise |2 1 . . 4 W| Jazz Caulderon 64, Chris Benthron 4
And Chris Benthron keeps the run rate ticking over, before Jazz Caulderon waits patiently for the right ball, smacking it for 4 when it comes. The next ball didn’t bounce up as much as she thought, at it is spooned up to Giles Greaves who catches it easily.

AXI 15th over: Kate Finika |. 1 4 2 1 1 .| Chris Benthron 7, Craig Graham 0
Craig Graham prods a ball away to get off the mark, before Benthron decides to turn on the scorer, with a 4, 2, bye and single in quick succession.

AXI 16th over: Sammie the Wise |. . 3 2 4 .| Chris Benthron 14, Craig Graham 1
Craig has to defend a couple of balls to protect his wicket, before tonking a ball down past gully, which is stopped by Vincent McMorrow running back from point. Chris Benthron continues to smack the ball around the ground, as Apox XI look to be romping to victory here.

AXI 17th over: Kate Finika |1 . . 2 . 4| Chris Benthron 20, Craig Graham 4
They work a quick single, before Benthron does a lovely drive back up the pitch, then hitting a large four over mid off on the final ball of the over. They are just three runs away now.

AXI 18th over: Eva Arnesen |2 . W . 1 2| Chris Benthron 26, Craig Graham 5
Craig Graham hits two off the first ball of Eva Arnesen second spell, before edging it through to Richard Brooks behind the stumps. However, Scott Gilbert and Chris Benthron are able to tidy up the remaining score, leaving the Apox XI on 134/6 with two overs of play unneeded.

Cricket Tyneala has decided to send a team to the fourth World Twenty20 Championships in Barunia despite the lack of a domestic T20 competition. The only limited-overs competition in the country is the 45-over Stl-Blnd Challenge, the most recent edition of which was won by Aelsh side Hilshore in an all-Aels final.

As a result, for their maiden appearance in a global Twenty20 competition, Cricket Tyneala has looked outside of the domestic top flight, to players playing club cricket where there are more established T20 tournaments.

Name (first initials) Age	Bats	Bowls	Nationality

Day 1.

Well we made it despite the problems such as Max losing his passport inbetween his home and the airport we all got to Barunia in one piece. Wasn't easy getting us all here and we didn't all know if we were able to come, it was a headfuck getting time off work but fuck my boss I managed to go over his head and get my leave approved as for Brandon I'm glad he was able to borrow money from his parents to be able to come with us, our bowling line up would not have been as strong if he wasn't apart of it. I'm looking forward to our time over here we will drink some booze, bang some chicks and find some time to play cricket. Well all of us will do that except for Harry at 31 and 7 years older then the next eldest Peter he may be going to be early everynight, I'm pretty sure the nickname 'Gramps' will stick with him for the rest of the trip and after. I have no idea how good or bad the teams we are playing are and to be honest I don't really care it's all about the fun if we win, we win if we lose well we lose, good thing we are all mates and have known each other for a long time that will surely help us out during the tournament not to mention Peter's brilliant ability with the bat I know most bowlers are going to struggle with him. Well enough for today I think tomorrow we first come up against Punum but that's tomorrow for now it's time to join the rest of the lads in the bar for a beer.

Loss for Apox - Not a Good Start

Apox kicked off their campaign in the 4th Twenty20 World Cup in unsteady fashion, losing to a previously unfancied TRK of Quebec side. The Apoxian team only managed to get 130 runs in their innings, mainly as a result of Sam Gugh's excellent 61 runs, with helpful additions from debutant Giles Greaves (28 runs) and Dan Watt (17). However, the usually firing Jake Walters and Jazz Caulderon suffered under the Quebecois bowling, both giving away their wickets cheaply. Kelly Crookshaw also batted poorly, getting a golden duck on her return to international cricket.

In the bowling, Sam Vernon once again showed to the world his class, taking two key wickets just as partnerships were beginning to form and restricting the opposition run rate somewhat. New captain Scott Gilbert bowled well as well, bowling economically while Kelly Crookshaw redeemed her poor performance with the bat by taking her best international figures of 33, decimating the Quebecois middle order.

This opening loss against arguably the easiest team in the group will make it particularly hard to advance, with our next game against the hosts Barunia and the final group game against rising cricket force, Chelta. The Apoxian team will have to play to the best of their ability to see off these hard opponents, but David Barnes, the team coach, remains hopeful that the team will progress to the later rounds once again. An unchanged line-up has been named for the next match against Barunia.

Padmai Tigers beat Filopines and make all of Ghandi proud. Quarter Final still possible.

Filopines 144 (19.2 overs)
Kriegersien 148/5 (18.3 overs)

Kriegiersien beats Filopines in scandalous game.

The game was won, but the circumstances rather shocking.
The players, coming from Padmai, first startet to sing their own 150 years old anthem of Padmai when the Kriegiersien hymne was played. The they waved with own regional flags to their own fans who all had flags with the tiger of Padmei.

After the decisive throw Kapila Ramachander ran furious to the fans crying; "Free Ghandi, free Ghandi!" before the other players lifted him up, chanting the Pandai hymne and carrying him around the stadium.
They then ripped of their Kriegiersien uniforms and vanished into the dressing room. Some gave interviews to foreign reporters repeating their love to Padmai and that Kriegiersien should leave their country.

Cricket popularity in Callumackbar surges!

Sports suppliers all across Callumackbar are reporting major sell-outs of Cricket Bats and have been forced to bring them in from abroad to satisfy the now Cricket-mad population. One Citizen was quoted as saying:

I saw Callumackbar win on that talkin' paintin' now I wanna' be a Cricker' like our boys winnin' in Barunia.

The sport's popularity surge happened almost at the same time Callumackbar's victory over Swibia was confirmed. The Cricket Sales industry has gone through the roof and they predict even better sales after Callumackbar's next match against Punum.

Mistake by the Feline Cricket Association led to rosters being released after the first match
The Feline Cricket Association(FCA) sent their national team to Barunia a couple days later then they should of been due to the president of the association, Catcher Grams' misinterpretation of the information about when the tournament would start according to officials in the Ministry of Sports department. "I thought the date is the recommended date to arrive in Baruina, not the actual date of the first match. I thought that the date set as first match was too early. Thankfully we arrived in Barunia 6 hours before the match. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to announce the roster for the Championship." Catcher Grams commented on his mistake. Unfortunately, the Felinetopian national team lost to Tasrailia in 17.5 overs after they exceeded the Felinetopian run count which was at 115 in 20 overs.
