Campionato Esportiva VII (Everything)

Postby Commune-PDTv2 » Thu Jul 25, 2013 5:05 pm

"Greetings my fellow Esportivans and may I, Beta Sigismund, be the first to welcome you to the most exalted, Glorious Commune for our region's most prestigious footballing tournament; The Campionata Esportiva! Many of you have travelled great distances to be here and once we complete the necessary security checks and allocate each team a personal chief of security, you are relatively free to enjoy yourselves here for the duration of the competition.

I'm sure you're all keen to take in the sights and atmosphere of our most impeccable country, learn which teams you'll be facing up against in your groups and begin preparing for what we are sure will be the greatest Campionata Esportiva yet. All in good time, my friends for there is protocol which must be followed. Now many of you are unfortunate to reside in countries governed upon misinformed socialist and liberal concepts. To those such peoples, I must make you aware of our laws and insist you abide by them.

The use of obscene language in any public place is strictly prohibited
Any form of public nudity is strictly prohibited. This includes men without shirts or vests and any form of skirts or shorts which do not reach at least halfway down ones thighs.
Alcohol, tobacco and any other such recreational drugs are strictly prohibited.
Recreational sex is strictly prohibited
Any other recreational activities should cease prior to 23:00 hours and it is expected that everyone is to be at their registered lodgings by 23:30pm. Curfew exists between this time and 05:00am

Your security chiefs will be able to advise you further*

OOC: All these names are a sort of code name. When one joins the security services of the Commune, you are allocated a call sign. As I said in my bid, these characters are yours to do as you will wish. Use them in your RP, or don't. Up to you. I do ask one thing however. Should you discover their true name, make it vaguely Slavic sounding and add a few extra 'H's. If you plan to wipe their memory and re-christen them as 'Twinkletoes McFluffybunny', or similar. That's fine.

So, we hope you enjoy your stay in the Glorious Commune and now on to the football.

For the Group Draw, the teams were first seeded and then divided into three pots. The top 8 seeded teams were placed in Pot 1, the subsequent 8 into Pot 2 and the unseeded teams into Pot 3. As I'm sure you're all aware, there will be four groups of seven. Each group will therefore feature two teams from Pot 1, two from Pot 2 and three from Pot 3. The Groups are as follows:

Teams numbered 1-8 comprised Pot 1, Teams numbered 9-14 plus Albaie and Urbis Tractus comprised Pot 2 (Albaie and Urbis Tractus were randomly chosen from the unranked sides to be placed within Pot 2) and all other teams comprised Pot 3. The Groups were chosen by making use of the randomise function on xkoranate.

The schedule will run thusly:
(cut-offs will occur c.08:00 BST on the given dates)

MD1 - 2v7 - 3v6 - 4v5 - 1 bye (30/7)

SFs - A1/C2 v B2/D1 - A2/C1 v B1/D2 (9/8)
Day Off (10/8)
Final and 3PPO (11/8) (12/8)*

*Edit: Due to prior commitments which I overlooked when I constructed the schedule, I'll be unable to perform the cut-off and scorination on 11/8. I will be back home at some point on the 11th but as I've no idea when, I believe it's safer to delay the cut-off by a single day. Should all involved teams have RPed upon my return, cut-off and scorination will occur earlier. My apologies for this organisational balls-up

... And now I believe there is nothing left to say but 'Let the games begin!'

For the Glory of the Commune!

... Oh, and the rest of Esportiva ..."

*Regarding the laws of the Commune. Feel free to invent your own overly-oppressive obstacles should you wish.

EDIT: So it has been pointed out that the actual title is 'Campionato Esportiva' ... I cannot change the logo now so for this edition it's the Campionata. Feel free to comment

Group A
Stadium MS DeltaOne
Home of Mogd-Syrdusha Khvadrant'delta. The Commune's premier football team who managed in their last season managed to obtain 3rd in the Califan Solidarity League. The second largest stadium in the Commune. (cap. 76,400)
The Jewel of Esportiva
This, the largest stadium within the Commune, is actually the home of the Mogd-Syrdusha Ravens (Rugby Union). This Stadium was commissioned by Sigismund Krenek, the Holy Father of Commune-PDT.v2 for his beloved rugby team. It was also he that chose the pretentious name of the ground. (cap. 96,750)

Group B
Muskula'dheen Glorious Stadium
A joint ground, shared by Muskula'dheen Sektor'yhuug and the Rugby team, the Mosquitos. One of the sights of Muskula'dheen with it's imposing design and bold architecture (cap. 70,150)
M'dhe'sevhyar Parka
The home of Muskula'dheen Sektor'sevhyar'dhva. A medium-sized ground often overlooked due to its proximity to the Glorious Stadium. (cap. 36,880)

Group C
Sentrhaalnoya
Mogd-Syrdusha's other premier football team call this their home. Nearly in the dead centre of the metropolis of M-S and also, one of the oldest stadiums in the country. (cap. 66,245)
Muskult'rhi Parka'yhuug*
(cap. 40,500)

Group D
Sparrowhawk Nest
Home of the Muskulchi'tirhia Sparrowhawks (Rugby Union). Looks like a huge bird's nest. Among the inhabitants of the Commune, the most famous ground in the country. Officials however, disagree though mainly because they dislike remotely famous buildings that don't exist within the nations capital. (cap. 69,950)
M'dhv'yhuug Parka*
(cap. 32,900)

* These two grounds are pretty non-descript. If you wish to comment, say what you want about them.

QF Stadia
Sentrhaalnoya, Sparrowhawk Nest, Stadium Delta One and The Jewel of Esportiva,

SF Stadia
Stadium Delta One, Sentraalnoya

3PPO Stadium
Sparrowhawk Nest

Final Stadium
Stadium Delta One

Campinato Esportiva: Will Our Second Attempt Be More Successful?

By: Tyler Smith

It's funny how history gives a nation a second chance, our first attempt to win this cup here resulted in a flop, we finished third in our Group and were quickly out of the tournament. But things have changed since then, Felix got a second place finish in the Baptism of Fire, a third place finish in Group 18 in the World Cup Qualifiers, sure we did it make it to the thrilling cup that was World Cup 65, but we improved in rank and skill. We started off as 199th in the world after the heartbreaking lost in the Baptism of Fire, when qualifiers ended we jumped up 96th, that's a 103 place jump in one year. Out of all the 52nd BoF teams, Felix is the highest ranked team and had the best finish in the qualifiers. But everyone must remember Felix's flop in the Cup of Harmony in Cassadaigua, that bad result caused a soul searching effort by the head coach of the national team, Daniel Cardona. He looked at his team, it was good but it could be better. He did the risky changes despite what the fans said. Here is the new roster for the CEVII.

GK (3)-
Tryggve Klemens {Age: 23} (Dusseldorf F.C Image)**
Viggo Tyko {Age: 30} (Cato Image)
Hartwin Kirchner {Age: 29} (Sporting Volker Image)
DEF (6)-
Aloysius Blau {Age: 25} [C] (Sporting Volker Image)*
Manuele Provenza {Age: 23} (Circulus Ludis Sisseno Image)*
Alexis Garcia {Age: 22} (Hampshire United Image)**
Bernardino Florentino {Age: 25} (Santa Maria City Image)
Kade Wallace {Age: 24} (Bridgeport Image)
Rubinho Mata {Age: 25} (Sieberg Image)
MED (8)-
Ji Iseul Kwan {Age: 23} (Sporting Volker Image)*
Gabriel Jenaro {Age: 23} (Santa Maria City Image)*
Drake Kelsey {Age: 22} (Hampshire United Image)**
Manolo Espina {Age: 23} (Sieberg Image)**
Biagino Silvestri {Age: 24} (Altomare Image)
Andres de Colorado {Age: 23} (Napoli Image)
Felix Pier {Age: 30} (Oceania Image)
ATK (6)-
Eutimio Salazar {Age: 22} (Sieberg Image)**
Simo Roni {Age: 23} (Santa Maria City Image)**
Yun Dong Lee {Age: 28} (Matthew City Senators Image)**
Mikel Abaroa {Age: 24} (Mandon United Image)
Ziya Saqqaf {Age: 23} (Santa Maria F.C Image)
Fabio Montero {Age: 22} (Universidad de Santander Image)
Manager-
Daniel Cardona {Age: 49} Image

*= Automatic placing
**= Fought position

Formation: 3-4-3

Style: +2

As you can clearly tell some additions have been made, Mikel Araboa and Ziya Saqqaf have lost their starting jobs to Simo Roni and Eutimio Salazar. The new man of the forward group is Fabio Montero of the newly created Universidad de Santander, he has been a solid player there and is currently one of the top goal scorers of the team. Going back to Mikel Araboa and Ziya Saqqaf, the duo use to play with each other in Santa Maria F.C but Mikel Araboa left the team in matchday 10 after he and his team were struggling as of late. The team now is looking to make a comeback, so is Ziya Saqqaf who is the main man now in SMFC. Simo Roni on the other hand has been having a great season with Santa Maria City a team that is doing very well in the FCL so far. Eutimio Salazar has been playing with a successful team too, his Sieberg team is in contention for the top 4 spots as the race in the FCL heats up. For the goalkeepers its a throwback thing as Tryggve Klemens of DFC reclaims his spot as starting goalkeeper. Maybe, if he plays well, he can keep it.

The midfield has made only one change and that was Gabriel Jenaro being in. Jenaro has been the golden boy of assists in the FCL as he has helped Santa Maria City become solid in the offense, helping Simo Roni score some goals. The other men that have been great and have kept their jobs are Ji Iseul Kwan, Drake Kelsey and Manolo Espina. The three men have helped their teams greatly, well except for Drake Kelsey. Hampshire United has been last but a number of great signing has given hope to the team and we hope they bounce back. Moving on to the defenders, Aloysius Blau, Manuele Provenza, and Alexis Garcia. As you can tell it has basically been the same, expect for Alexis Garcia overtaking the starting job of defender as Bernardino Florentino played excellent football but Garcia was playing slightly better. The lineup shown will probably stay the same until Felix is out and the head coach checks how this slightly modified team has played.

Moving on to the tournament itself, we have been placed in Group A,played in Mogd-Syrdusha. The Glorious Commune (12), Brenecia, Taijan, Felix (14), Boring Paradise, Earo (8), and The Licentian Isles (3). This group looks very heard as we face home field favourites, The Glorious Commune, newbies Brenecia (a team that beat us in the CoH), Taijan, Boring Paradise (yes, the same team that eliminated us in the World Cup qualifiers), solid team Earo that is expected to get out of this group with title contenders, The Licentian Isles which are ranked 3rd in the region. These teams form a tough group as many experts say Felix will very well if they want the slightest chance of going on to the next round of play. First team we will face off against is old rivals, Boring Paradise. We tied against them 1-1 when we faced off against them in the first round of qualifying play but then lost a heartbreaker 2-3 at home, when Felix needed to win the most.

Moving on to the host themselves, we have been assigned a Security Chief, he goes by the codename of Sigma Lambda and he is a 28 year old man from the northern parts of the Commune. Now I personally feel like going here was a bad idea as the Commune is known for it's dangerous areas, hence the cause of us getting a Security Chief. Another thing I disliked about going here is the lack of freedom of speech, in Felix we are accustomed to saying what we want and be able to denounce our government, no such thing exists in this country. I find it unsettling as I am a passionate advocate for freedom. But alas, to avoid getting in trouble with Commune authorities I won't dwell on the problem anymore. Oh and lastly it seems like the men leading the effort for the Commune to host the bid made a mistake in their logo, instead of putting Campionato, they put Campionata. Obviously a accidental mistake, but something that was obvious and we would like to poke fun at.

Moving on to kits, the good old boys of Vulpine Sportif from the Northern Sunrise Islands, have decided to make brand new kits for the Felixian national football team. During the WC Campaign the head men at the Felixian Football Association had decided that Felix needed a new look for their logos and kits. They contacted Vulpine Sportif and they quickly batched up a great looking kit. The home kit and away kit looks amazing and I am sure it would inspire anyone and everyone to play with that jersey, heck, even the goalkeeper kits look nice. And now, without further delay, here are the new kits! Also, on behave of everyone in The National we wish you a great day and good luck in the Campionato Esportiva.

GMR: Hey, man, welcome to Green Mountain Radio Montem Virid. This is your host, Tyler Coombs, and this evening we've got a very special guest joining us by phone to talk about the Green Ibex in their first Campionato Esportiva. Please welcome, all the way from Altomare, Felix, former national team defender and current Felix Champions League starter Christopher Nguyen. Chris, good to have you.
CN: Good to be on the show, Tyler. I'm not sure how I feel about that "former" being tacked on there, though.
GMR: We'll say you're the once and future starting defender for the Green Ibex.
CN: That's much better.
GMR: Now, you've been playing in Felix these past few weeks. How is that different from Taijan? How has your playing changed, do you think? For better, for worse?
CN: Oh, absolutely for the better. We see these teams in the UICA and in international competitions and we wonder how they get so good, but the truth is, they just train hard, they train year-round. I mean, I loved playing in the Green League because I had all this free time, and that's simply not so in the FCL.
GMR: That's interesting. How has it been being away from home?
CN: You know, it was kind of weird buying a plane ticket for a home beach soccer match against New Lonopolian Empire, but otherwise it's been alright.
GMR: That's right, you've been playing international beach soccer still. How's that been?
CN: Hectic, you know, with qualifying for the Cup and playing in Felix and all. We had a great game against NLE, though, and we're looking for an upset against Eastfield Lodge.
GMR: That's great. Now, down to business; what do you think of this Taijani team in the Campionato? Can they advance? Can they do well?
CN: Oh, absolutely. I mean, are you asking if all the talent left with me? No, I mean, I'm glad Cormac Danielson stayed on for the CE, I think he deserves the green jersey more than anybody, and this is a phenomenal team they've put together. I mean, Paul Yamamoto and Nuno Brotz playing alongside one another is like everybody's dream come true, and here it is. They're two guys that I know I dreaded defending, so I imagine everybody else in Esportiva feels roughly the same.
GMR: What about your area of expertise, the backline? How do you feel about the Ibex defenders this cup?
CN: I'm sorry I can't be a part of this backline, man, because it's going to be a doozy. Jory Mickelson was a real role model to me on my way up, don't tell him I said that, though, and Damon Chang and Brandon Roybal have both come along way, I mean, especially Brandon with getting promoted out of the Gold League and everything like that. And more than that, we've got depth, I mean, Kenny and Carl can both play just as well as anybody on the pitch, and I think that's going to benefit them a lot.
GMR: Give us your prediction for group matches.
CN: Oh, man, that's tough. Earo is obviously not an easy place to start, that's a veteran team with a lot of Campionatos before this one, and the Licentian Isles, holy hell, man, that's going to be rough. Honestly, though, I think a two-two draw against Earo, maybe a three-three, and then a one-nil loss to the Islands. I don't think those games are going to be blowouts. The Commune is playing on home turf, and they're a tough team, too, so maybe a one-nil loss or a one-one draw? Brenecia are minnows, to be honest, but so are we, but I think we can pull that game out, maybe one or two to nil if Danielson's on his. Felix, Felix, is a football nation, and they're going to be tough, but I think with two days' rest we can pull it out. That's my big upset, I guess; Taijan over Felix, two-one. I hope nobody at Altomare is hearing this. Anyways, Boring Paradise is another debutante, and I think we can take them. So, overall, Nguyen's prediction is two, two, and two, nice and even, and we advance on goal difference.
GMR: Well there you have it. Thanks, Chris!

Sangti National Football Team
AGILANG DILAW
National Team for the Campionato Esportiva VII

Image

After their debut campaign at the World Cup 65 and the Cup of Harmony 57, the Agilang DIlaw of Sangti will showcase its skills, this time in the region's most prestigious competition: the Campionato Esportiva, which is on its seventh edition. With mid to low expectations for the team, they will look to defy the odds and advance to the quarterfinals and emulate what New Sideburn has done - win the Campionato Esportiva in their debut.

This is Jaime Faltado's second full tournament after replacing Jerous Manalo at the final matchday of the World Cup qualifying. He has only 2 wins overall as manager of the national team, and he will look like to be under pressure to perform well in this tournament.

The 23-man squad was submitted to the Communadi authorities just before the curfew time there.

GOALKEEPERS
No	Name Age	Club Notes
1 Williard Navarette 32 CD Viocla Starter
13 Alwin Villejo 27 Carbonel Nuelma Sub
23 Gerard Verdad 28 Real Cintore Reserve

Williard Navarette returns from a lengthy layoff after his groin injury at the home match against Saintland in WC qualifiers. He will mend the sticks again as the starter after Brian Cua has not been selected. Cua, along with Jovick Bucaoto will spearhead the goalkeeping duties in the Market Cup instead. Alwin Villejo started all four games of Agilang Dilaw in the Cup of Harmony. With Navarette's return to the team, Villejo will be the chief backup to Williard. Gerard perform exceptionally well in his stint with Real Cintore, making stellar saves at the CEdC, enough to merit him a place at the national team.

DEFENDERS
No	Name Age	Club Notes
2 Gregorio Bautista 28 Olympique Leonde Starter/Right
3 Jade Pablo 28 Gabelona Starter/Left-Center
4 Luke Docdoc 26 Carbonel Nuelma Starter/Center
5 Dickson Lampa 32 Racing Xinghua Baoyam Starter/Center
16 Victorio dela Vega 23 Deportivo Nespa Sub/Left-Right
17 Charleston Carag 23 Olympique Leonde Reserve/Center
19 Roochie Perez 22 CF Rumasi Reserve/Center
22 Luigi Averilla 27 Wanko Nocoru Sub/Right-Center

There were two notable omissions from the Cup of Harmony - Roman Ang and Mari Arceo. Both if them will spearhead the center back positions at the U21 Squad for the Di Bradini Cup. They were replaced by Charleston Carag, a notable member of the Swamp Soccer Team and Roochie Perez, a member of the U21 team that finished 3rd in Group H of the 27th edition of the DBC. Dickson Lampa replaces Roman Ang at starting center-back, with dela Vega and Averilla the chief back-ups.

MIDFIELDERS
No	Name Age	Club Notes
7 Marvick Sor 26 Real Cintore Starter/Captain/Left
14 Christiann Sanchez 22 Real Cintore Starter/Right
8 Franco Flores 31 Deportivo Nespa Starter/Vice-captain/Center
6 Allen Legaspi 29 Racing Xinghua Baoyam Starter/Center
12 Jonathan Docto 23 Racing Xinghua Baoyam Sub/Left-Right-Center
18 Vincent Panes 23 Sangtiola Nandezfer Sub/Center
20 Aldren Fernandez 27 Tossan Saint Etudes Reserve/Center
21 Herbert Salting 24 Carbonel Nuelma Reserve/Right

The midfield suffered many omissions from the CoH squad. Only Sor, Sanchez, Flores and Legaspi remain from that squad. This is the area where the Agilang Dilaw will struggle to be dominant. It is well noted that Christiann Sanched has transferred from Real Tadofal to Real Cintore and Vincent Panes ditched Rosavilla Atletico for Sangtiola Nandezfer. Aldren Fernandez was called up for the first time since the Market Cup. Christiann was also an alumni of the U21 side from DBC 27.

FORWARDS
No	Name Age	Club Notes
10 Adrian Magcaleng 25 Real Cintore Starter/Attack
9 Daren Corsiga 25 Olympique Leonde Starter/Support
11 Joey Jardinico 23 Real Cintore Sub/Either
15 BJ Uy 23 Gabelona Sub/Support

With the international retirement (and subsequent transfer to Deportivo Nespa) of John Utanes, Daren Corsiga steps up to replace him at the starting lineup. There were also another omission - Janrold Garaza. Garaza was told that he will spearhead the Olympic squad as one of the 3 non-under-23 players allowed in the team. To fill up the vacancies, BJ Uy and Joey Jardinico were called up to replace them. Joey Jardinico was a reserve in the Swamp Squad until the call-up.

MANAGER
Name: Jaime FALTADO
Age: 50
Tactical Style: +3.64, Free-flow attacking
Formations usually used: 4-4-2, shifting to offensive 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 diamond
Explanation: With the starting lineup, a 4-4-2 is formed when building-up attack pr defending. Once an attack is initiated, either one of the following happens: (1) Sor or Sanchez shifts forward for additional support. (2) Flores moves into a support striker/attacking midfielder position while Legaspi shifts backward to a central defensive midfield position, a position he excels at while at Xinghua, forming a diamond formation at midfield.

STAFF
Assistant manager: Niccolo Abundo (unavailable due to Market Cup coaching), Wenefrido Dumale takes his spot as first team coach/assistant manager.
Coaches: Erroll Tantoco, Ilcilanor Malikay, Aldrich Sing
Physios: Dickson Pasamonte, Augusto Rasid

If you rp before me you can do whatever you want but no long term injuries.

The team were all sat on the bus as it made its way to their hotel. The Werek triplets were sat at the back with Elecki Queb. " I can't believe this no drinking or swearing in public places. " Ben started and his brother Robert quickly picked up.
" And no sex as well "
" You getting sex don't be ridiculous " Tom quickly added and all four of them laughed.
" Don't worry I am sure we will find a way to get hold of something but then again it might improve our performance. " Said Queb the young Advar who was always the forward thinker.
" Won't improve England's " Said Robert pointing down the bus to where England was standing up to know how he was going to get drink. The only player on the bus not to play for a club even though he was a great player he had thrown it away on drugs and alcohol and now no team would touch him with a barge pole as all he would do is hurt their reputation.
" Stupid drunk this will be his last chance at glory. " Queb said all three brothers knew Elecki's hatred of selfish players who threw away their careers while he had worked so hard for his.
" Lets just keep our heads up play well and when we get back to Albaie can drink as much as we can. " Robert said and then William stood up at the front.
" Lets a have a verse of Dubrack's Lads " He roared and all the players joined in on singing the old song which was sung at every football match by every team.

Coach: Jules Easton. What many in Chrovan would refer to as a 'World Traveler', in reality he's just vacationed in a handful of other Esportivan nations. Chrovanians don't get out much. He was selected mostly due to his familiarity with both football and international football, having been his school's premier striker back in the day and having watched in-person the last few Campionatos as well as the Fifty-Sixth Cup of Harmony in Apox, as well as leading this team past the group stage in the last Campionato. With his history as a front-man, he enjoys attacking football, playing about a +4.25 on a scale of -5 to +5. He had held open tryouts before the team's debut rather than dipping into the nation's amateur league, as the standard of play there is terrible. That turned out to be a good decision.

Stating XI:
Keeper: Delmar Peck, #1. He's usually good, but when things start to go wrong, they go really wrong.
Left Back: Quincey Booner, #2. A heavy drunkard. He regularly switches between the good kind of physical player and the bad kind.
Center Back: Andrew Law, #3. A fifth-generation lawyer, his family is one of the most respected in Chrovan. He's also quite athletic.
Right Back: Rupert Eustis, #4. A simple turnip farmer. He's a quiet fellow, and very hard working.
Defensive Center: Syd Tolbert, #5. Plays professionally, allegedly. Always changes the subject when you ask where.
Left Wing: Chuck Paddon, #6. A sailor. He's a rather loud fellow, but just as hard working as Eustis.
Center: Marion Steed, #7. A horse raiser. He's gotten quick from having to chase them down.
Center: Brennan Donalds, #8. <Captain> He actually does play football for a living, in Chrovan's amateur league. It's a very amateur league, though. He's won Player of the Year seven years running.
Right Wing: Tracey Rimmer, #9. The Chrovan National Orchestra's lead percussionist, and their pickup-football team's captain.
Left Forward: Brenton Smythe, #10. The only player who's contested Donalds for Player of the Year, he usually loses out do to him being on an overall better team (whereas Donalds carries his entire team by himself).
Right Forward: Donovan Jacobson, #11. He can kick really, really hard.

Bench:
Keeper: Daryl Ingram, #12.
Defender: Nicholas Michael, #13.
Defender: Delbert Lawson, #14.
Defender: Ricki Power, #15.
Winger: Silas Bourke, #16.
Winger: Webster Bishop, #18.
Center: Kurtis Ness, #17.
Center: Bob Traves, #19.
Forward: Willard Bonham, #20.
Striker: Henderson (Mace) Tyrell, #21. The go-to late game substitute; he can make the ball do funny things in the air, and has a penchant for dramatic finishes.

Licentian National Football Team

The Licentian Isles will be using this Campionato in the Commune to experiment; nine of the twenty three men that travelled to Saugeais for the World Cup have since retired from international football, so a lot of new faces will join up with Joachim Schwartz's squad for another run at the title of being top of the region.

Head Coach- Joachim Schwartz (Polar Islandstates):
Joachim Schwartz has returned the Cyan-and-Gold to the position they were in when Kelly Sporadic first took the job; qualifying for the World Cup. This tournament is the Valhallan's first proper chance to tinker with the side, although his hand has been forced, after a large amount of retirements, so he has scouted some quality young Licentian players to join his squad.

Goalkeepers:

1 - Shay Jamieson - 23 years - Carrington United
12 - Russell Miller - 22 years - St Bart's
13 - Nathan Hunter - 21 years - Abingdon Celtic

You know that awkward moment when every single one of your capped goalkeepers retire at the same time ?? Yeah, that happened. Thanks to this, Di Bradini Cup and Olympic goalkeeper Shay Jamieson will be taking over the gloves formerly held by Cameron Ritchie, with Russell Miller and Nathan Hunter brought in as understudies in case he crumbles under the pressure.

Full Backs:

2 – Toby Bishop – 29 years – Carrington United
3 – Kevin Boyle – 30 years – Old Corinthians
14 - Ajay Walker - 23 years - Montfort Wanderers

With Evan Russell retiring from international football as soon as he gets into his thirties, Toby Bishop, who stated recently that he can't remember not being in the national side, and Kevin Boyle, a veteran in Corinth, get the starting roles, and probably will for a while to come. Ajay Walker, another DBC veteran, has been called up to fill the free spot in the squad.

Centre Backs:

4 – Sam Hill – 25 years - Surtsey Island Gulls (PIS)
5 – Dennis Munro – 24 years - Gaelic Club
15 - Grant Ferguson - 24 years - SC Montfort
16 - Arron Stewart - 22 years - Inverglyn Legion (CMP)

Sam Hill and Dennis Munro will continue in the national team spots they earned at the last World Cup, with Hill proving that Licentian defenders can do well abroad, with his Polarian exploits earning him a good reputation. Grant Ferguson will be joined on the bench, at least temporarily, by Arron Stewart, one of many Licentians that have made their way out to the new nation of Camporum.

Holding Midfielders:

8 – Nate Parkinson – 31 years - Arka Snezhnaya (MYT)
17 – Grant Torin - 24 years - AFC Farnworth

Nate Parkinson has failed to regain the Licentian captaincy after Logan Moran's retirement, with Ruaraidh Donaldson taking that role, despite Parkinson doing a stellar job of leading the Cyan-and-Gold Olympic football side. His replacement at Farnworth, Grant Torin, has joined him in the national side, with Mark McKay eliminating himself from the picture for the foreseeable future.

Centre Midfielders:

6 – Ruaraidh Donaldson – 31 years - Abingdon Celtic - C
10 – Josh Brown - 25 years - Red Star Severny (PIS)
18 - Joey Thompson - 21 years - Egloskerry (APX)
19 – Magnus Graham - 23 years - Abingdon Celtic

Dylan Knight is one of the last of the original Licentian players to retire from international football. Josh Brown, performing well in the Polarian leagues, will join newly appointed captain Ruariadh Donaldson in the centre of the park. Ben Black has been dropped, and Joey Thompson will join the squad in his place, while Magnus Graham, one of the most recent class of Di Bradini Cup players, will join up with the senior squad for the first time.

Wingers:

7 – Lewis Naylor – 31 years - Colesham Athletic
11 – Aran Miller – 18 years - SC Montfort
20 - Jared Anderson - 28 years - Carrington United
21 - James Watt - 21 years - Port Teodor United (CMP)

It's another game of opposites on the Licentian wings. An aging Lewis Naylor continues on the left wing, while the fantastic young talent of Aran Miller will take the right wing. Jared Anderson continues his frustrating run of not starting despite his talent, and James Watt, another player who has moved to Camporum for his football, will join up with the squad.

Centre Forwards:

9 - Alexander Keir - 30 years - FC Endeavour (APX)
22 - Roddy Dickson - 21 years - RSK Longyearbyen Town (PIS)
23 - Fraser Docherty - 20 years - Montfort Wanderers

With Logan Moran's retirement, King Keir returns to the spotlight, much more mature and experienced for two years of watching the master at work. He is expected to lead the line again this Campionato. Roddy Dickson will sit on the bench again, but he is now the heir apparent to King Keir's throne, while Fraser Docherty joins up with the national team to make up the numbers.

Formation – The Pythagorean v2/The Hourglass:
A variant on the Pythagorean system used by Schwartz in the Polar Islandstates, the only real difference is that the Cyan-and-Gold system involves two triangles linked together by the holding midfielders, which looks sort of like an hourglass on paper (hence, the name).

Starting Eleven – 1/3-4-5-2/8/7-6-10-11/9

Kits - Created by Kirola Sports:

Home Stadium:
Luke Thomas I Stadium, Montfort, Montfort Parish
Capacity: 75,000, all seated

LTI Stadium is the home of Licentian sports. Having held the final of the Campionato Esportiva, the entirety of the Campionato di Atletica Esportiva, and the final of the Grand Duke’s Challenge Cup in the past, along with hosting the Licentian national football and lacrosse teams, Montfort Wanderers, and Montfort LC, this all-seater stadium (the only such ground on the Islands) is truly the behemoth of the Islands’ sporting culture. You can expect to see royalty fairly often too, with the Grand Duke, Luke Thomas II, a regular attendee of the games at the stadium named for his father.

NEW SIDEBURN
Preferred Formation:
4-4-2 diamond
Style Modifier: 0
Playstyle: Low on possession, but high on pressure, with fast play and short passing. Generally reliant on a stereotypical 'big guy/fast guy' strike partnership. Very physical, quite pacy.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: The Cormorants

Winners of many individual trophies, New Sideburn is fresh off an inspiring qualifiers performance shortly followed by an insipid Cup of Harmony, crashing out in the group stage after beating only the lowest-ranked nation in the group. They're eager to defend their title, however, and prove they have what it takes to compete in the World Cup next year. After upheaval in the 331 season, Gethin Ramsey has opted for youth over experience, Grant Beardsley being the latest BoF51 veteran omitted from the squad, and three players selected for the first time.

Overall Record
50 wins - 9 draws - 16 losses
140 scored - 90 conceded

Honours
Champions of the 51st Baptism of Fire.
Holders of the Campionato Esportiva and the Market Cup.

First Team
GK - 1 - Portia THRIFT
RWB - 2 - Anna SHRIKE
RCB - 3 - James YORKE
LCB - 5 - Lorraine PLYMOUTH
LWB - 4 - Cathy STOKES
DM - 6 - Lucia OAKWOOD (c)
RM - 8 - Darren PARRETT
LM - 11 - Cheney ROSEWOOD
AM - 10 - Dale BRIGHTLEY
RS - 7 - Gerhard THUNDER
LS - 9 - Barry KEARNEY

My opponent MAY
Choose my goalscorers (Oakwood takes penalties, corners and direct free-kicks)
RP injuries to my players (maximum one, and I'll determine the exact severity)
Hand out yellow and red cards to my players (maximum one red every two games, unlimited cautions within reason)

My opponent MAY NOT
Godmod scoring events
Godmod injuries
Godmod other events

Gethin RAMSEY - 56
Manager

A club hero turned country legend. Ramsey needs no introduction, being an instantly recognisable figure to people even passing familiar with Sideburnese football. Tactically, Ramsey favours a pressing 4-4-2 diamond balanced in attack and defence. Emotionally, Ramsey favours shouting at his team until they perform better. Generally, it works.

Escher SPEARE - 39
Assistant Manager

Numbers are sort of Escher's... thing. When Gethin petitioned the NSFA for a new assistant, he wasn't expecting a former accountant who'd never picked up a ball in her life. What she had done in university was smoked a lot of weed, watched a lot of football and sort of absent-mindedly breezed through her degree. Numbers and sports science are her passions, but somewhat more importantly she's good at keeping Gethin in check.
1 - Portia THRIFT (vc) - 36 - Riverside (Saugeais)
63 caps, 23 clean sheets

The best goalkeeper in the nation's history. In Baptism of Fire 51, her safe hands were key to New Sideburn's success, and now... now she's four years older. But aside from her advancing years, Thrift's positioning has turned from remarkable to simply uncanny, and her handling is vice-like. There's simply no substitute for the best.

12 - Paolo CREWE - 30 - Maximum City
1 cap, 1 clean sheet

Crewe is, above all other things, reliable. He's thirty years old, and in all that time has made all the saves and done all the things he's been expected to do. And that means a lot, when your average goalkeeper throws the ball into his own net once every twenty or thirty games. He's by-the-book, efficient and effective.

20 - Wilhelm URQUHART - 32 - Sabrefell Athletic
Uncapped

Called up for the 56th Cup of Harmony but never capped to date, Urquhart's had a wealth of experience in the Premiership. A burly, bearded man, he excels in the role of defensive marshall, and prides himself on his ability and leadership in dead ball situations.
2 - Anna SHRIKE - 27 - Crisisbless
Right-back
67 caps, 2 goals

Anna Shrike continues to serve as New Sideburn's right-back and gesture of defiance to sports science. Short, unfit and with a tendency to stray out of position, Shrike's still a fixture in defence, and her ability to attack down the wings and offer the Cormorants another option in attack really opens up some possibilities.

3 - James YORKE - 23 - Sabrefell Moths
Centre-back
31 caps, 0 goals

Yorke might be young, but he's served admirably as a defender for the squad over the last world cup cycle. Now 23 years old, Yorke's discipline and restraint give him the rare talent of almost never giving away fouls, which... is highly-valued, given what his teammates are like.

4 - Cathy STOKES - 24 - AFC Treason
Left-back
41 caps, 1 goal

One of the best players in the side, easily. Stokes was part of the core of a premiership-winning AFC Treason for two consecutive seasons, tirelessly running down the left and offering support up and down the pitch. She's an engine, never stops running, always gives 100%, and can be relied upon to never make a mistake.

5 - Lorraine PLYMOUTH - 28 - Parrhesia United
Centre-back
Uncapped

Some might say Plymouth's addition to the squad came as a surprise, but she offers real stability to a back line that needs it badly. An expert at putting pressure on strikers, Plymouth rarely makes errors of judgement, and is quietly competent with the ball at her feet.

13 - Leila CORVETTE - 25 - Sabrefell Moths
Left-back
45 caps, 0 goals

A relentless chain-smoker who's been known to cough up blood in the event of extra time, Corvette's nonexistant stamina is made up for by her sheer ability. Quick and dynamic, Corvette favours short, rapid passes, and clicks well with fellow Moth Rosewood on the left flank.

17 - Jessica LOQUE - 28 - North Laithland
Right-back
5 caps, 0 goals

Every team needs a player who just quietly... accomplishes objectives. Loque is that player, never standing out, generally underappreciated, but on a subconscious level everyone is aware that she gives the team that little bit of a defensive edge time after time.

22 - Rook HARM - 36 - Egloskerry (Apox)
Centre-back
61 caps, 1 goal

Despite Gethin Ramsey vowing never to include him in the squad again after he gave up three penalties in a single cycle, he was begrudgingly allowed back into the squad for lack of anyone else. Harm's an iconic player who divides his opinions; is he a thuggish brute, or is he a skilled brute?
6 - Lucia OAKWOOD (c) - 32 - Crisisbless
Defensive Midfielder
75 caps, 7 goals

New Sideburn has played seventy-five games since joining the WCC, and Oakwood has started in every single one, a feat no other can match. Her pace and strength, never her strong suits, haven't improved with age, but her relentless hounding of enemy players has crushed many an offensive. A colossus in midfield.

8 - Darren PARRETT - 22 - Allouette Jonquiere (Sicoutamont)
Right Midfielder
5 caps, 0 goals

An emerging talent for the national side, played as an understudy to Rosewood last campaign and now fronted as a successor to Grant Beardsley. Being twelve years younger is a good start; we'll see if he can live up to the burden, but signs are hopeful.

10 - Dale BRIGHTLEY - 25 - Basin Plain (United Gordonopia)
Attacking Midfielder
46 caps, 13 goals

It was kind of a surprise that Dale Brightley was picked up by Basin Plain four years ago... but right now, all that hype really does make sense. He's lightning-fast, stunning with his feet and works tirelessly in attack and... at all, in defence. Brightley is one of the main threats in the squad, both in creation and in shooting. Be wary.

11 - Cheney ROSEWOOD - 29 - Sabrefell Moths
Left Midfielder
72 caps, 12 goals

Rosewood's getting old and his legs are starting to fall off, but he's still a tremendously talented entertainer on the pitch. Inherently two-footed, he is the complete midfielder, and an example to the rest of the team.

16 - Gareth CROWLEY - 22 - Goodfeather FC
Left Midfielder
Uncapped

Crowley is picked for the first time, a classic New Sideburn midfielder with pace, pass accuracy and genuine attacking threat in abundance. He doesn't have many tricks up his sleeve; he's just a great all-rounder who's great at his job in general.

18 - Michael BRANDON - 22 - Directus (Eura)
Central Midfielder
Uncapped

Brandon is a very intelligent and decisive playmaker, always able to see the flow of play two or three steps ahead. While he's weak at shooting, his place is at the heart of the game, creating play from the centre.

19 - Catherine SEDGWICK - 24 - North Laithland
Attacking Midfielder
4 caps, 2 goals

After being the beating heart of the Cranequin Wanderers and top-scoring midfielder in the league for two seasons running, Sedgwick was brought to North Laithland, where she's thrived in the big pond just as much as before. She's a quick, incisive player, with venomous shooting from just inside the box.

23 - Chase WINGETT - 24 - AFC Treason
Right Midfielder
28 caps, 4 goals

As his... modest goal tally might imply, Wingett favours crossing more than shooting, and has spent much of his time as a substitute. Still, he impressed in recent seasons, and in last cycle's qualifiers, scoring four times and earning a first-team slot over Baptism of Fire veteran Beardsley. He's lost his slot again, to Parrett, but he's got fine aim with his long passes, and provides some unique utility on that front.
7 - Gerhard THUNDER - 30 - Sabrefell Moths
Striker
69 caps, 34 goals

A real goal poacher, it's no surprise that Gerhard Thunder is the record holder for goals scored in the team. He's incredibly strong, very powerful in the air, good on the ground with the ball and capable of winning back possession when needed. Pace is a weakness, but he generally positions himself well enough that you'd not notice.

9 - Barry KEARNEY - 30 - Royalwich (Saugeais)
Striker
29 caps, 13 goals

A thundering striker with little in the way of tactical sense but guaranteed to play with heart and soul fully invested. Tall, strapping and strong, and deadly in the box given half a chance.

14 - Leyland STALLION - 26 - Sabrefell Athletic
Striker
7 caps, 1 goal

Stallion's form has never quite carried to his country, but for club he's been devastating. As Southfell's leading man, his goals carried them to 6th before being poached by Sabrefell Athletic; it's a matter of getting that form onto the pitch, which so far... well, just hasn't happened.

15 - Molly KEYNES - 27 - North Laithland
Striker
1 cap, 0 goals

Keynes is a classic target woman, whose modest stature (6'1") is offset by a stocky build and a total inability to ever be shoved off balance. Deadly on the receiving end of a cross or set-piece, and a dangerous opportunist with the ball at her feet.

21 - Tara LOCKDOWN - 27 - AFC Treason
Striker
9 caps, 3 goals

Tall, lanky and sporting blue-sprayed hair, Lockdown is no longer the one-trick pony she was before. Now her ball control is equal to her aerial skill; she's been a truly devastating striker for Treason, and there's no signs she'll be any weaker for her country.

1 - Portia Thrift (vc) (Riverside)
12 - Paolo Crewe (Maximum City)
20 - Wilhelm Urquhart (Sabrefell Athletic)

2 - Anna Shrike (Crisisbless)
3 - James Yorke (Sabrefell Moths)
4 - Cathy Stokes (AFC Treason)
5 - Lorraine Plymouth (Parrhesia United)
13 - Leila Corvette (Sabrefell Moths)
17 - Jessica Loque (North Laithland)
22 - Rook Harm (Egloskerry)

6 - Lucia Oakwood (c) (Crisisbless)
8 - Darren Parrett (Allouette Jonquiere)
10 - Dale Brightley (Basin Plain)
11 - Cheney Rosewood (Sabrefell Moths)
16 - Gareth Crowley (Goodfeather FC)
18 - Michael Brandon (Directus)
19 - Catherine Sedgwick (North Laithland)
23 - Chase Wingett (AFC Treason)

7 - Gerhard Thunder (Sabrefell Moths)
9 - Barry Kearney (Royalwich)
14 - Leyland Stallion (Sabrefell Athletic)
15 - Molly Keynes (North Laithland)
21 - Tara Lockdown (AFC Treason)

The old ways were best!

Original nation behind Nephara. New Sideburn now symbolises an ideal, rather than a nation.

"Theta Rho," said Gethin, slowly.
"That is my name," said the officer stiffly.
"Thass... thass not a name, mate, that's a bloody callsign."
The officer nodded. He was a sturdily-built man with greying hair, a grey uniform, a grey beret trimmed in grey iron. His eyes, disappointingly, were blue.
"Tell y'what. I'm gonna call you..." Gethin pondered for a while, before settling on "Smiddy."
"Smiddy."
"Yeah."
"You... intend to call me-"
"Weeeell, I could go with Phil instead," Gethin offered, diplomatically. "'S a good name, is Phil. Means 'lover of horses', I read it on the internet and everything."
And that is the story of how the security officer acquired the nickname 'Horsefucker' amongst the Cormorants.
For Phil was not a well-liked man. He had given the side a list. The list... expressly forbade a sprawling variety of activities the Sideburnese were quite fond of. Right now, the side was clustered around Lucia Oakwood, the captain, as she read each item out in a slightly disbelieving tone.
"'The use of obscene language in any public place is strictly prohibited...' well, we're fucked on that account," said Lucia, bitterly. "Just... try not to talk out on the streets, yeah? Pretend everyone's a priest or some shit."
"I fuckin' hate priests," muttered Lorraine Plymouth.
"Shut it, Lo. 'Any form of public nudity is strictly prohibited. This includes men without shirts or vests and any form of skirts or shorts which do not reach at least halfway down ones thighs.'"
Subconsciously, most of the squad glanced at their kit bags.
"'Alcohol, tobacco and any other such recreational drugs are strictly prohibited,'" continued Lucia. This... did not pass muster. The squad bickered amongst itself for seven minutes before order was restored, largely though Lucia having a loud voice and banging heads together (figuratively, or occasionally literally).
She cleared her throat when the din had ceased. "Right. Next is, 'Recreational sex is strictly prohibited.'" This one passed without open complaint, but Lucia took care to glance meaningfully at the physio.
"An' 'Any other recreational activities should cease prior to 23:00 hours and it is expected that everyone is to be at their registered lodgings by 23:30pm. Curfew exists between this time and 05:00am.'"
Most of the team stared blankly. Lucia, marginally more worldly than the others, sighed and began to explain the concept of a 'curfew'.
Fuck, she thought afterwards. Dictatorships were always the worst.
------------------------------
"This is bullshit," muttered Jessica.
Some players had taken better than others to the enforced curfew. Most had brought books, but had, on average, not brought enough for the sheer amount of waiting, and the literature on offer in this country was... unappealing. Some dealt with the curfew by resolving to get up at 5 every morning, go out for a walk, sneer at locals and talk loudly about democracy. Others, Jess Loque among them, were sulking.
"We all know it's bullshit," said Wilhelm, who was spread out leisurely on the bed. He seemed more or less at ease with the agonisingly slow pace of the new country, and the rest were slowly earning a slow, seething resentment for him. "'S a matter of doing productive things with your time. Write poetry or some shit."
"Where's Horsefucker, anyway?" pondered Cathy, before seeing him walk out of an adjoining room with an alarmed expression. "Oh, there he is. Hey, Phil."
"Don't swear in a public place!" snapped Phil.
"'S our hotel room, innit?" Cathy replied, mildly.
"It. Is. Public."
"What, you got cameras looking in on us?"
There was a moment's pause.
"Don't answer that. Anyway, what's next on the agenda, Phil? You gonna take us to some monuments or something?"
"I love fuckin' monuments," contributed James 'Yorkie' Yorke.
Phil gave the squad a pained look, but found no mercy there. Some people defied the Commune in open arms or protests. The Sideburnese appeared to defy the Commune simply by feeling inconvenienced by it, and thus ignoring it.
And he'd heard stories of last Esportiva. Blood had been shed in the stands, though granted that was in a less civilised nation that was probably full of socialists.
He sighed. This was going to be a long cup... he only prayed it didn't cost him his job or his life.

Hey cuddlefish,
This place is a fucking dump.
Like, seriously. There's marching in the streets, all that shit. Propaganda everywhere. Fucking embrace your democracy, cause things look pretty sodded over down here.
First match is against Slembanana, no idea who the hell they are or anything about them. Which is nice. Soph Lotus said she'd get some dirt on 'em, which'd be great except we play 'em tomorrow and I still ain't heard shit from her. Guess I'll just go up like always and shout at the lads if they don't win.
This letter's probably gonna get censored to hell and back if I used anything even remotely public, so I co-opted the embassy. I think the Ambassador's the rather worried-looking man who keeps wringing his hat. I dunno if he was meant to let me in, but fuck it, I'm an important cultural icon or some shit, it's my right to be here and send you emails with all the swearing left in.
I miss you. I mean I miss all the good-looking lasses from back home but mostly it's you I think about with all these repressed-looking babuskas around that flinch when you try to make eye contact. 'S bloody depressing.
Anyway, I think someone called security. Or maybe Phil, our guard dude. You'd like him. Real heart and soul of the fucking party. Yeah I should probably go.
Love,
Gethin.
The old ways were best!

Original nation behind Nephara. New Sideburn now symbolises an ideal, rather than a nation.

(Note: In Mystaria, the main race of creatures are Mystix, which are humanoid creatures with pale white skin, pink eyes and usually pale hair. They are taller than the average human, standing normally at 7ft. They are light on their feet and incredibly quick, but other, more aggressive elements of football are weak. There are two other species represented in this team: Givegiggle Trolls: are a race of Trolls who live in the Givegiggle Caves, just south of Crystal. They are massive, hulking, ugly creatures who shy away from sunlight and normally carry large clubs, although the representative in this team has had his club removed. Shumbribble: The Shumbribble are a little-know race who inhabit Million-Mile Island, which is beyond the ring of Golden Clouds which surround the Queendom. They are giant bugs, effectively, with four legs and two arms, and two sets of wings on their back. They have compound eyes and giant sticky hands, which make them fantastic goalkeepers.

Walking Down The Duchy Road

The best blog to ever cover Licentian football !!

I'm back !! The Campionato's back !! The Cyan-and-Gold are back !! Everything football is back !! And I'm already loving it.

Apparently, we are the third best team in this tournament, behind Cyborg Holland and Northern Sunrise Islands, though how, I don't know. Neither of them have ever won the thing, but we have. Before my time, obviously, but we still have more history with this thing than the pair of them. Sometimes, I just think that it's the fact that Cyborg Holland is the oldest place here, and a Sunrisian runs the majority of the politics in the region. Ah well; we'll smash them all anyway, won't we ??

So, when we landed in Mogd-Syrdusha (good luck to my fellow bloggers with spelling that fucker), we were given some rules that we would have to abide by. Rules. Seriously ?? Fuck that. Let me just go through these rules and give you some genuine reactions from my teammates.

"The use of obscene language in any public place is strictly prohibited" - "Fuck that !!"- Sam Hill
"Any form of public nudity is strictly prohibited. This includes men without shirts or vests and any form of skirts or shorts which do not reach at least halfway down ones thighs" - "Damn it, I was looking forward to checking out some continental men and women."- James Watt (who, apparently, is bisexual - news to me !!)
"Alcohol, tobacco and any other such recreational drugs are strictly prohibited" - "Boss, does this mean I have to bin this crate of lager I bought in the airport ??"- Aran Miller
"Recreational sex is strictly prohibited" - "Again, disappointing."- James Watt
"Any other recreational activities should cease prior to 23:00 hours and it is expected that everyone is to be at their registered lodgings by 23:30pm. Curfew exists between this time and 05:00am" - "You know what lads ?? Fuck this. We're going and getting pissed."- Joachim Schwartz. Seriously. What a bloke !!

So, in summary, Mr Beta Sigismund, terribly sorry, but we're not listening to your rules in the slightest. We're going to rip up this city, with its stupid name and oppressed people !!

Apparently, there's been some security guy assigned to us while we're here. He's a member of the Communadi security services, and his name is Theta Kappa. Well, that's his codename. Now, I've not told you this, but a few of the younger lads are having a bet. They're seeing if they can get this guy pissed to the point where they can get his real name out of him, then get him to a variety of stupid things, like that film, The Forgotten Night. I can't wait to see this guy afterwards. Good luck to the poor bastard.

Actually, knowing these lads, we might not see him again...

Anyways, in terms of the football, we take on Brenecia for the first game of the tournament. The other five teams in our group are The Commune, Taijan, Felix, Boring Paradise and Earo. So basically, no-one to worry about. We should piss this.

I should go check on the younger lads; after all, as a veteran, they are kind of my responsibility.

Ah, fuck it. They'll be fine...

The Forgotten Night is the Licentian equivalent of The Hangover, which is my basis for this Campionato.

BRENECIA
Preferred Formation:
4-5-1/4-3-3
Style Modifier: -1.5
Playstyle: Very physical, reliant on pace. Favours extensive use of wing play, with a big striker at the end of it. Low on possession, scores many goals on the counterattack. Hemingway favours a more cautious strategy than Lawless did.
Kit Supplier: Kirola
Nickname: the Patriots

To date, Brenecia has largely failed to live up to New Sideburn's legacy. They failed to get past the Casaran in their Baptism of Fire, lost half their games in the qualifiers and managed just one win in four games in the Cup of Harmony. Still, Clint Hemingway is confident that this time, his team will be ready for the challenges that await him. This time... the Patriots will have what it takes.

Hand out yellow and red cards to my players (maximum one red every two games, unlimited cautions within reason)

My opponent MAY NOT

Clint HEMINGWAY - 52
Manager

The first thing you need to learn about Clint Hemingway is that he lives in the country, routinely wears an akubra and owns three hundred guns. These aren't just facts, they pretty much sum up his worldview. He believes in hard, dirty football, attractive play decidedly optional. While so far he's managed a 1-0-3 record, they were all against teams stronger than Brenecia, and he relishes the challenge the Campionato will provide.

Garrett HIGHBURY - 69
Assistant Manager

Highbury was Blake Lawless' voice, and serves Hemingway in the more direct role of enforcer. He plans to retire after the Campionato Esportiva, and is currently attempting to find a replacement.
1 - Felix CARRICK - 26 - Violence Chariots (New Sideburn)
An acrobatic young goalkeeper blessed with great reflexes and uncanny handling. Carrick may face fierce competition from the other goalkeepers in the squad, but it's his proven success in the Premiership that's earning respect at the moment. One to watch.

20 - Stephen MANSFIELD - 31 - Northern Union
Mansfield's strengths lie in positioning, backed up with sheer reflex. He seems to have lost the duel with Carrick to be placed first in the squad, but he'll still provide fierce competition after another great season with his club.

21 - Franca CONNELL - 28 - AFC Kingsgrove
A good all-round shotstopper, it's hard to point to any weaknesses in Connell's play. She's played for a variety of clubs and countries, mostly in the top levels.
2 - Samantha ALLBECK - 24 - AFC Treason (New Sideburn)
Right-back

Quick and tenacious, fierce young Sam Allbeck is just as strong going forward on the wings as she is in a purely defensive role. After transferring to NSFA Premiership champions Treason, she's played alongside some big names, and makes a deadly full-back partnership with Cathy Stokes. Probably the side's best player.

3 - Leo MUSKET (c) - 32 - AFC Kingsgrove
Centre-back

Musket isn't versatile, nor is he particularly adept with the ball at his feet. But he is good at stopping attacks, and he's proven a remarkable captain for the side. His ability to drive the team forward cannot be underestimated.

5 - Bruce MORANT - 34 - Raven River (New Sideburn)
Centre-back

A straightforward defensive enforcer. You cross his mark, he snaps your legs. You've got to say this for Morant, you know where you stand with him.

6 - Magda CHARTREUSE - 23 - North Laithland
Left-back

Young, promising, very short, with a shock of strawberry blonde hair and a swarm of freckles, you'll know Chartreuse when you see her. But she's very good on the wings, with an enviable expertise of short passing, and you can rely on her tracking back when needed; her positioning's impeccable.

15 - Joan CALWAY - 29 - Ridgeway United
Right-back

Calway has never been sent off or given away a penalty in her professional career. Which is pretty good, at 29. She's your traditional right-back, a fierce marker skilled at checking runs and stopping momentum.

17 - Clara DRUMMOND - 24 - South Laithland (New Sideburn)
Centre-back

Drummond was a surprise pick for the Patriots, but it starts to make sense when you look into it. She's a strong centreback who rarely makes errors of judgement, and excels at zonal marking and canny offside traps.

22 - Tomas PROUDFOOT - 31 - Violence Chariots (New Sideburn)
Left-back

Proudfoot's fast, strong and versatile, able to play as a centreback when needed. While he was an important wingback in the 331 squad, his age is starting to count against him, and he's lost the place of favour to Chartreuse if the numbers can be trusted.
4 - John LYONS (vc) - 33 - Scaffield
Holding Midfielder

An utterly guileless holding midfielder, Lyons' total inability to make play from deep in is compensated for by a lot of heart and a strong boot to hoof the ball out of harm's way. He can keep running at 100% for the entire game, easily, and he excels at shutting down play.

8 - Fiona SYLVER - 28 - Violence Chariots (New Sideburn)
Central Midfielder

Sylver may be small and wiry, but as a playmaker there's no substitute. She tends to stick to her position; this is a team that will likely build its centre around her rhythm, she can afford to sit back and pull the strings.

10 - Ashleigh TWINING - 28 - Crisisbless (New Sideburn)
Central Midfielder

Twining's a keen young woman with great ball control and a fine eye for goal. Her runs tend toward the incisive and instinctive, and while she's played slightly further back the line than usual, this may well unlock hidden potential; she's shown affinity for splitting defences with a single short pass in the past.

13 - Vince RIGGS - 26 - AFC Chafford
Defensive Midfielder

Big, solid, workmanlike Vinny Riggs has a lantern jaw and permanent five-o’clock shadow, and also hunts down other midfielders like they’re his prey. He’s a holding midfielder that lacks finesse, but makes up for this with his sheer physicality. Also capable of massive long throws.

16 - Richard STERN - 29 - Envy River
Defensive Midfielder

Stern goes that extra distance to make certain there’s no mischief. Off the ball, there’s none better at anticipating play and calculating his own placement. He’s the man who stayed behind when a corner went bad, or throws himself at the ball to get a stoppage time goal. It is uncertain whether this is an incredible sixth sense or sheer luck, but it gets results.

19 - Rhys FONTAINE - 31 - Scaffield
Attacking Midfielder

A versatile attacking player who can double as a second, fast striker in event of a change to 4-4-2, Fontaine’s sixth sense is uncanny. He’s a real goal poacher, and can stride confidently forward to put himself in the perfect position to smugly sidefoot in a goal. His only downfall is lacking Twining’s insight.

23 - Jonathan IRONGATE - 31 - Rozelle
Defensive Midfielder

A holding midfielder with absolutely no qualms about professional fouls or tactical yellow cards; anything to get one over on the referee. He goes in hard for the ball without really caring what’s in his way. He’s also fast, though he lacks composure in front of goal and his ball control could be better.
7 - James MACBETH - 26 - Sabrefell Moths (New Sideburn)
Right Winger

Two-footed, remarkably athletic, and an attractive all-Brenecian pin-up boy for the lasses. Macbeth exemplifies all that is virtuous about the Brenecian sports system, though he admittedly sullies that reputation somewhat by playing for the Sabrefell Moths. Still, it's a high-profile contract, and he's undoubtedly a star for the team.

9 - Edmund PIKE - 31 - Scaffield
Striker

While undoubtedly a natural goal poacher, Pike is a versatile player who excels at putting defenders under intense pressure. His obvious strengths are as a target man for others, whether with boot or forehead, and he's a talent for being in the right place at the right time.

11 - Miriam SPITFIRE - 23 - Envy River
Left Winger

Spitfire's left foot is best described as 'catastrophically powerful', often tearing metaphorical furrows in the earth when she powers home a cross or a blistering shot. While strength and pace aren't strong suits, her stamina makes up for them. She'll run a whole match without suffering for it.

12 - Matilda THAMES - 25 - Sutreich Crusade (Echidnation)
Left Winger

While Brenecian born and bred, Thames has spent the bulk of her career in Echidnation, enough to slip into speaking German half the time. It's left an imprint on her style, as well, a cautious style based around control before scything a cross down the field.

14 - Brad KUEPPER - 25 - AFC Kingsgrove
Striker

A young, raw-boned striker more in the mould of a Sideburnese centre-forward than a Brenecian. He's beginning to catch the eye of foreigners, and his six year age gap might give him an edge over Pike in a long match.

18 - Daniel SNOWDEN - 22 - Parrhesia United (New Sideburn)
Right Winger

Snowden's really found his feet for Parrhesia. While not a natural goalscorer, he works tirelessly to get the ball down the field to those who are. While built fairly small, he's notoriously difficult to overpower, with a certain slipperiness about him.

1 - Felix Carrick (Violence Chariots)
20 - Stephen Mansfield (Northern Union)
21 - Franca Connell (AFC Kingsgrove)

2 - Samantha Allbeck (AFC Treason)
3 - Lionel Musket (AFC Kingsgrove)
5 - Bruce Morant (Raven River)
6 - Magda Chartreuse (North Laithland)
15 - Joan Calway (Ridgeway United)
17 - Clara Drummond (South Laithland)
22 - Tomas Proudfoot (Chenoworth Harriers)

4 - John Lyons (Scaffield)
8 - Fiona Sylver (Violence Chariots)
10 - Ashleigh Twining (Crisisbless)
13 - Vince Riggs (AFC Chafford)
16 - Richard Stern (Envy River)
19 - Rhys Fontaine (Scaffield)
23 - Jonathan Irongate (Rozelle)

7 - James Macbeth (Sabrefell Moths)
9 - Edmund Pike (Scaffield)
11 - Miriam Spitfire (Envy River)
12 - Matilda Thames (Sutreich Crusade)
14 - Brad Kuepper (AFC Kingsgrove)
18 - Daniel Snowden (Parrhesia United)

Postby Sangti » Mon Jul 29, 2013 8:01 am

"Are we entering the correct competition?" This was asked by one of the players of Sangti while they were packing their bags from their training pitch at Zalesgon. His teammates asked him why. He said, "Because the competition's name is Campionata Esportiva, should it be "Campionato Esportiva?"

"Our good neighbors from Esportiva have already told us that it is the real deal. My perception of their logo and the name makes me think otherwise." Adrian said. "Plus they had their "curfew" rules posted at the invitations from the Glorious Commune." he added and he show the rules printed in paper to his teammates.

"The use of obscene language in any public place is strictly prohibited
Any form of public nudity is strictly prohibited. This includes men without shirts or vests and any form of skirts or shorts which do not reach at least halfway down ones thighs.
Alcohol, tobacco and any other such recreational drugs are strictly prohibited.
Recreational sex is strictly prohibited
Any other recreational activities should cease prior to 23:00 hours and it is expected that everyone is to be at their registered lodgings by 23:30pm. Curfew exists between this time and 05:00am"

The entire team reacted, "What the...?" Several questions were asked. One that stood out was: "Is that nation for real? With so many rules, It feels like Sangti when it was in the AoD*! It feels like that nation is a dictatorship. Should we pull out?"

"Before you think of that nonsense, can you think of a reason why we had to be humiliated at home, to FELIX, OF ALL TEAMS?" Coach Jaime said. Jaime was not happy after Sangti's crushing defeat against Felix in Gabel, which hosting ban was lifted. He did not mind the 6-1 battering Sangti gave at Gregoryisgodistan at Cintore (the first home match at Cintore, a reward for their club team reaching the CEdC final), after all, Gregoryisgodistan was unranked and Sangti was expected to crush them, given their increasing stature in football. "Anyway I have a bag full of tapes here. I have three matches of Nekoni, countelss number of matches of New Sideburn, four matches of Chrovan, three matches of Slembanana, and five matches of Swyftlandre."

"Is there a match of Levivana 2 there?" Williard asked. "Well, I cannot find one. I guess that they are total unknowns in the competition. Now for the first of your end-of-training movie i mean tape watchings, enjoy a 4.5-hour boring Nekoni matches."

"One question though." BJ asked. "Why do we have to watch these Nekoni matches? I mean not for bragging's sake, but they were thrashed 7-1 by Slembana. Can we just move on and watch New Sideburn's matches? Because it is what will matter in the future!"

"Shut your mouth, or be excluded in the match squad for the NSB match." Jaime sent a stern warning to BJ. After settling down, and almost five hours of nonsense foouball, almost half of the squad were... yes, asleep. Jaime's voice was almost an alarm clock to others, a splash of cold other to other ones.

"What we should emulate here is the opponents of Nekoni. Not them! So you should watched the damn tapes!" Jaime said. And then Vic asked, "Can we take these tapes to the Glorious Commune? I see a bit of piracy in those tapes."

Jaime said, "Don't worry, I'll bring it to the Commune whatever happens. after all, we only watched one team i mean the opponents of one team!" And when the charter flight to the Commune happened, the team managed to slip these tapes from the Communadi authorities. But it was already 2100H at the Commune. Luckily there was Phi Phi, the security advisor for Sangti, or should I say, real name concealed number twenty-one. They took a pun to his name while going to their registered lodging in Mogd-Syrdusha. "He looks like a fan**!" "Or a... whatever, I almost forgot that profanity is prohibited here."

They arrived in their lodging just in time for the curfew. They asked Phi Phi, "Are activities inside the house or lodging prohibited while curfew hours?"

When the clock struck 2330H, the entire team slept, after the starting eleven against Nekoni was named.

APOX CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA 7 QUALIFYING ROSTER

Manager: Fendergéson Numbá (Farfadillis), Aged 49
Assistant Manager: Chris Maarsden, Aged 31
Style: -2

Spiel: Apox return to the Campionato Esportiva for the first time since the 5th edition, where they won their second trophy. They return this time with slightly lower expectations, and a team that is greatly different to the original Apox side that debuted 13 years ago, a second generation, if you like. This team is one of the oldest Apoxian teams seen for a while, with 11 players aged over 30, meaning that there will almost definitely be great change in the side come the start of the WC66 qualifiers.

Númba has only made one change to his team, bringing in Ivo Trevowah, long thought of as Olim Benzari's replacement on the wing, brought in for Will Fich. As for Olim, he has confirmed that this will be his last tournament before retirement, and he goes out as one of the greatest Apoxians to play the game and the first to reach 100 caps.

Old Guard National Football Team

Style: 1.6

Cultural Quirk: Old Guardians have an odd way of giving names, they are given a first name when they are born, and then given a characteristic at the age of seven to complete there name, eg. Steven the Great.

COACHING STAFF
Manager: Sanderstal the Almighty, 38
Record in charge of NT: Yet to play a game
Ken Rickwright stood down as manager of the national team following the last Copa Rushmori, as he decided to try out new things, havign basically set up football in Old Guard. His replacement is the youthful Sanderstal the Almighty, who is the greatest Guardian manager ever, having taken a frankly terrible Old Guard Regiment team to the Quarter-Finals of the Marshall Cup a couple of years ago. Now, he is put in charge of a yet again overhauled national side, in their continuing quest for glory.

Assistant: Tim the Bored, 40
Sanderstal brings with him to the job his number two at Old Guard Regiment, Tim the Bored, a man saddled with an unfortunate end prefix like so many in Old Guard. However, he is in truth quite energetic, and tries his best to animate teams under his control to achieve new levels of greatness.

PLAYERS
#1 - GK - John the Large, Aged 31, Barbury Town (APX), 30 caps, 1 goal
John the Large is a stalwart of the team, having been one of the few remaining members to be present from the beginning. He is also one of the more experienced team members, with 30 caps to his name, he understands how it all works well. He accepted a move to Barbury Town 3 years ago and hasn't looked back since, playing well in the top league in Apox.

#2 - RD - Endellion the Hewn, Aged 23, FC Endeavour (APX), Uncapped
A recent talent unearthed by the rapidly expanding scouting network in Old Guard, Endellion is a physical specimen, his 6 foot 2 frame dominating the box in either defensive or offensive encounters. He often tends to play quite well advanced, almost as a right midfielder, which occasionally exposes the flanks somewhat, but he is still a developing player, with good talent. So much talent that he was snatched up by FC Endeavour in the off season.

#3 - CD - Og the Troll, Aged 39, Hudd Rovers, 13 caps
Og is quite literally a troll, not just a very ugly person, and due to his increased height and weight, a large presence in defense. However, trolls are very slow and often clumsy, so he is quite easy to manoeuvre around, providing he doesn't hit you, which will almost definitely cause some form of minor injury (he averages around one yellow card a game). He is really quite a big softy though, and won't injure people on purpose. He plays for the club Hudd Rovers, from the town Hudd, which has the largest troll population base in Old Guard. Trolls have longer lifespans than humans, so Og won't be likely to retire until he is about 45.

#4 - LD - Jason the Argonaut, Aged 25, Oldem Gents Club, 10 caps
Jason has been recalled to the starting line-up from the bench, now that he has matured more as a player, and goes on epic, but ultimately futile runs with the ball that often end up further away from the opposition goal than he started about 5 minutes after receiving the ball. He recently enjoyed promotion to the second tier of the Apox League system with Oldem Gents Club.

#5 - DM - Richard of France, Aged 30, FC Brimstone (APX), 29 caps, 2 goals
By now a veteran of the Old Guard national team, Richard of France is a superb holding midfielder, with a good eye for a pass around the field, and this skill has only improved with time. He is another recent mover jumping ship from Guardian clubs, moving up two divisions from Moscva 2k12 to FC Brimstone for the 573 season.

#6 - DM - Dan the Man, Aged 27, Old Guard Regiment, 6 caps
Dan has been involved with the national side for several years now, but has never broken through enough to earn a starting place. His time may now come, possibly as a result of Sanderstal becoming the national team manager, in the past being manager of Dan's Old Guard Regiment.

#7 - RM - Jooles the Sophisicated, Aged 28, Barbury Town (APX), 26 caps, 2 goals
Jooles oozes class as you can tell by his name, even playing badly on purpose if he thinks it'll make him look more sophisticated. However, he does have genuine skill and can liven up any game he become a part of. Be warned though, he likes only specific chants to be done for him, and prefers a polite round of applause or gentlemanly cries of "I say!" or "Jolly good!" as encouragement, or he can go a little off the rails.

#8 - CM - Sam of Charlfont, Aged 21, St George's Creek, Uncapped
A star for St George's Creek in their first season in the second tier of the Apox National League, and one in which they just missed out on a play-off place, Sam was an easy choice for the team, as he is able to set up a great through ball for strikers, as well as being able to scored himself. It's a miracle St George's Creek have managed to hold on to him, but he is key to any hopes they have of achieving promotion to the top tier.

#9 - LM - John the Awesome, Aged 32, Oldem Gents Club, 40 caps, 4 goals - VICE CAPTAIN
John is truly a legend of the team, and he is the current caps record holder, after palying in most of the matches the team have participated in. He not as fast as he used to be, but I bet he could still outrun a fair few right backs, even now. There are rumours circulating that this could be his late international tournament, but we'll just have to wait as see if there is any substance behind these rumours.

#10 - ST - David the Heroic, Aged 25, TP Indians, 23 caps, 3 goals
David is approaching the peak of his career, and so he'll be glad of a few more opportunities to add to his modest international scoring record, which he hasn't quite managed to transfer across from his electric form domestically. He plays for the small club of TP Indians, but appears happy enough there for the moment.

#11 - ST - Xav the Fast, Aged 31, Gwinevra Barbarians (APX), 34 caps, 11 goals - CAPTAIN
What a legend. Xav has been the captain, star player and record goalscorer of Old Guard for quite some time now, and was the first Guardian to play overseas, for at the time, title contenders and winners, Gwinevra Barbarians of Apox, where he is a first team starter in their squad. He is one of the many ageing players in the squad, but has assured everyone that he has now intention of retiring in the near future.

#12 - GK - STEVEN, Aged 25, TP Indians, 2 caps
STEVEN was found floating out at sea when he was younger, and gave no name for himself apart from STEVEN, and refused to tell anyone why he was floating out at sea in the first place. Since then he's always been quite reclusive, but took to football as a keeper, and has since been discovered to be quite good.

#13 - DF - Aquart the Unusual, Aged 26, Moscva 2k12, 5 caps
Aquart refuses to wear football uniform for matches or training, preferring and insisting on wearing some sort of medieval dress which is in team colours. However, he is a pretty strong tackler, and will not hesitate to bring a player down if he feels it to be necessary. The only flaw with that, is it is often not, and therefore he tends to get quite a few fouls when playing.

#14 - DF - Cath the Uncontrollable, Aged 30, Don't Panic FC, 1 cap
Cath is a raging lunatic on the field, and has remarkable stamina - she never seems to stop running, much to everyone else's concerns. This can be a hindrance and a help, as she will often run into her opponents, somehow tackling them, but similarly has been known to tackle members of her own team, which is less ideal.

#15 - MD - Kay the Sideways, Aged 23, Oldem Gents Club, 9 caps, 1 goal
Kay is a player like no other, she literally runs sideways, which is at the same time hilarious and brilliant, and is how her only international goal cam about, she was substituted on, and scoring running in to a corner, where she was already at the right angle to score.

#16 - MD - Marcus the Bright, Aged 21, Don't Panic FC, Uncapped
Marcus is actually quite a normal person and player, and has managed to get a call-up purely because he's actually just good enough. He has good technique, and his stamina and fitness is improving all the time. He'll be one to watch for the future, and will definitely be leaving Don't Panic FC for a higher league, as they look mired in the bottom league of the Apoxian League system for some time to come.

#17 - ST - Jeff the Great, Aged 36, St Georges Creek, 20 caps, 3 goals
Jeff was a past captain of Old Guard, and a key player of the squad, only being dropped because he is a bit old - this will probably be his last tournament in the squad, and will unfortunately be pretty unlikely to get any game time this go around.

#18 - ST - Ug the Troll, Aged 32, Hudd Rovers, Uncapped
Ug is Og's sister, and she's in the team for when a tall striker is required to head and kick troubling balls at the opposition goalie.

URBIS TRACTUS NATIONAL TEAM – SEVENTH CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA

After the sudden disappearance of the moving city, Urbis Tractus, and its subsequent move from Atlantian Oceania to Esportiva, the robots that had previously competed to represent Urbis Tractus in the fourth World Cuppet have been retired, and replaced with a new set of robots. They aren't expected to do fantastic at the Campionato, but the fans in the city hope that their temporary move to the Commune is worth it.

ROSTER:
GK – Racer
CB – Diamondback
CB – Sidewinder
CB – Boa
DM – Mamba
LM – Asp
CM – Keelback
CM – Viper
RM – Cobra
ST – Python
ST – Fer-de-lance

So, here come the nuances of this nation.

Firstly, as you may have guessed from the nation name, or if you’ve read through previous RPs with this nation, Urbis Tractus is a moving city. As such, the city, its people, and the football team will be moving to The Commune for the duration of the Campionato. You can choose to mention this in your RPs or not.

Secondly, the team is a group of robots, all controlled by the manager/controller. This team has a working life of 20 years, which means these lot, all named after snakes, will be representing Urbis Tractus for quite a while (if I remember to RP it). It also means that injury wise, you aren’t likely to injure them, but they are likely to injure you.

Thirdly, most people from Urbis Tractus are rude, thuggish, have heavy accents, and swear like troopers. As such, when Tractians speak in RPs, nation names will likely be spelled as they would be said, and there will be a lot of abbreviations and cursing.

I hope this will present an interesting challenge for people in my group, as it has for me when preparing the backstory and RPs for this nation.

THE VAPOREONS

GOALKEEPERS
#01 - Trent MILLARD (San Jose Sharks - Northern Sunrise Islands)
Millard was a rookie with some prospect when the first Universitarian League rolled around. Obviously, he wasn't taken much seriously, thus making him stay in Northern Sunrise Islands lines, which placed him as a Goalkeeper for the Seaside Wartortles. The Wartortles then noticed they couldn't make much use of the player, so they kept him playing on other teams around the world. Monty Python, Peace of Saint Anne and Jacob, Canondale Bombers, Hermann Aichinger and finally a run with Afonse Battalion would let him return to the Sunrisian Lands. He stuck with the Battalion, thanks to his great skills as a goalie finally rising from him, which made San Jose Sharks take him under their team. And now he's in the national team.

#12 - Maurício ROSÁRIO (Fluminense - Barra e Janeiro)
Rosário spent little time with the team that drafted him back in the Universitarian League, as San Jose Sharks was still in its way to become a good team in NSI, thus making him go around Unzucneru Association. While he wasn't a hit at some teams, he eventually found fortune when Barra e Janeiro's Fluminense gave him a call. He became a hit, almost becoming a Barrian to represent the country at a Cuppet or something like that. However, Bourbon remembered of him and brought the Aranha Negra for the Vaporeons.

#32 - Mellody SIOUX (Ponyville United - Equestrian States)
After being ignored by the NSIFC and having to play in Kitsunia-Deesse, because she is a Nekonian... now has the last laugh. Or sorta. She now plays at Equestrian States, something rare for any common player of NSI. Good, huh?

SIDEBACKS
#02 - Justin REDWING (Litala '93 - Mytannar) [CAPTAIN]
After years of playing at Flock Nation, Redwing negotiated his way to Mytannar and Litala '93. Still with his usual mannerisms, his traditional red hairband and the scar he still maintains on his right eye and with his style of playing that maintained him as a player and a great piece for the Sunrisian squad.

#05 - Anthony HAWK (Minigoleada - Dainer)
The Hawk, The Kid. Anthony Hawk has made himself a decent cult of fans in Dainer with Minigoleada as the Foreigner who shines in the strong nationalist squad of Minigoleada. A loyal player to the Vaporeons, Hawk made his best to continue in the task of becoming a great right-back.

#13 - Andressa DE SOUZA (Lynder Frosslasses - Northern Sunrise Islands)
A perfectionist, Andressa is close to her good old friend Larissa, who plays at Neuville, not too far from Lynder. While small, she is as fast as possible and tend to have a great outsider look in the field. A good way to tick her, back then was to miswrite her surname as DE SOUSA, which related to Francisco de Sousa, a forward player.

#14 - Larissa SOUZA (Neuville Scythers - Northern Sunrise Islands)
A lunatic, but nice person. Playing together with her old highschool friend Andressa, Larissa is a decent player at her position, hardly giving up the ball. Was kept due to her decent array of skills.

CENTERBACKS
#03 - Netto HIKARI (Augusta - Darmen)
He was a loan coin back when he was in NSI, but no team ever noticed that he was a great player. Augusta did, and brought him with them for some football. As you might have guessed, he is another uprising player with enough skill for the Vaporeons.

#04 - Yolanda MCFLEMMING (Acropolis - Dainer)
A strong and experienced player in the defense, McFlemming was originally born in New Capitalia, but her old country was added to the Sunrisian Territories, thus making her a Sunrisian. She's debuting at any national team, either from New Capitalia or from Northern Sunrise Islands.

#15 - Pippi MANGALONGA (Northern Stars - Felix)
The younger sister of Iau, Pippi is probably one of the most hidden talent of Northern Sunrise Islands to be featured in the roster. Sent by her original club, the Matthew City Senators to the Northern Stars, a team that works as a farm team in Felix, the younger Mangalonga has
also four brothers and seven sisters that are still developing to possibly play soccer. Could the Mangalongas become a family enshrined in the Sunrisian Football?

#16 - Natsu HANEKAWA (Blue Bay AFC - Kythenna)
Now with Blue Bay AFC, Hanekawa seems to be a little tougher than before, now focused on the chances of going far at the Cup of Harmony. If the team doesn't... Eh, at least she went to another country without paying for it.

MIDFIELDERS
#06 - Tom "Starfox" MCCLOUD (Colonial Sile - Vilita)
Son of two of the most condecorated officials at Sunrisian Air Force, the older McCloud of the recent generation was strongly considered after seeing how good this kid is as an all-around player. Also, playing in Vilita gets you this far in Sunrisian National Football.

#07 - Iau MANGALONGA (Jenipapa - Dainer)
The Princess of the midfield, this white haired nekonian has become the blue chip of the team, playing inside Dainer, Mangalonga has not disappointed her colleagues in the Daineri team, winning a title on her debut at the league. While her past may be quite dark for
commoners, the future shines in the eyes of this young girl.

#08 - Guillermo DI LUCA (Montfort Wanderers - Licentiapacisterra)
A solid player, this young blonde hasn't disappointed in the cyan-and-gold land, showing decent reason of why he is still around in the Marills' squad. Acts as the vice-captain.

#10 - Namine NAGATOMO (Issington FC - Apox)
The dazzler, the one that started playing street football before stepping up to the grass pitch. Nagatomo is techincally experienced, having spent her teenager years in the concrete pitches of Mardi as a street footballer who would later earn a lot with that image. Then, out of her upcoming 19th anniversary, she would make the trip to one of NSI's biggest rivals, Apox, only to become a professional player and have enough money to help her family around. Inspiring and deserving of number 10 indeed.

#17 - Bridgitte LAVAL (La Naranja - Dandillis)
"Hanging around the corner" region-wise and well placed in the bench, Bridgitte has some history in international football that can't be left without notice. A more experienced player, continues with the Vaporeons for the next tournaments.

#18 - Brendan CRAWFORD (Augusta - Darmen)
The Hot Shot in Flock Nation, would later move to Darmen, but will never ever be forgotten by his fans at AZ Avalar and Saint Magdalene United for all his hard work. He has been with the Vaporeons for quite sometime, so no surprises here.

#19 - Harley "Quinn" SMITH (Feardillis' Wanderers - Farfadillis)
Harley has went through almost everything a human could even go through, with only around twenty years old! Kinda bizarre, but you have to admit that this madgirl is something totally different from what NSI tends to offer in their national team. Not even the best tactician can put her locked, so good luck for the opponents with her.

#20 - DUDA (Augusta - Darmen)
Techinically an experienced player, but new to the Marills. He tend to play the tutor role for Crawford and Hikari, who play with him at Darmen, but Marcos Eduardo knows what he's talking off. Considerably, a legend at Andarahy, he wants to show what he's capable off in the sets of the World. And Augusta is joyfully helping him do so.

FORWARDS
#09 - Christie TRAVIS (Matthew City Rangers - Northern Sunrise Islands)
Born in Osarius, easilly taken as another child of the land in Matthew City, Ms. Travis has one of the best shooting ranges of the forwards of the national team and is rising consistantly with the Vaporeons. The brunette has also been given, finally, the captain position at the Rangers and could easilly challenge Redwing for the position.

#11 - Mateus CARVALHO (Bartholomew FC - Boring Paradise)
Back in the old days, Carvalho was considered a blue chip. Now, at Boring Paradise, he is slowly developing to what people said he should become. Versatile player and onipresent (at least that's what we hope he is) during all ninety minutes.

#21 - Melina PATIY (Bufelino - Dainer)
Patiy was one of the first players to ever leave the (back then) Protetorate of Northern Sunrice for the outside world, in this case, the nation of Dainer. While not really the greatest success inside the dragon-born country, she is a solid player, thus becoming a good reserve for the team.

#22 - Louise MONTBLANC (Altomare - Felix)
A graduate from Project +90, Montblanc enters the national team as a blue chipper that could become another diamond if well worked. She's now with Altomare from Felix and could have a hard time playing against her comrades from Northern Stars.

COACH
Lynette Bourbon (Matthew City Rangers - Northern Sunrise Islands) [+1,5]
The coach of the team, considered a smart woman for getting NSI at a better place than what was expected for them all along. While she doesn't know whether the future is shining for her or not, Bourbon is slowly maturing to be a good coach and could raise some eyebrows in the next tournaments.

RP PERMISSIONS:
Choose my goalscorers: Y
Godmod scoring events: Y
RP injuries to my players: Only if it doesn't injure them for after the tournaments. I kinda stick with the national team for a good while as each cycle counts as an year in NSI and I don't want to run out of references for players, so...
Godmod injuries to my players: N
Hand out yellow cards to my players: Y
Hand out red cards to my players: Only with TG first
Godmod other events: N

Welcome to 106.3 EFM Radio Milwaukeesburg. Its The Football Hour, hosted by your own Markus Hummels.
"And welcome everybody to The Football Hour. Well, the FireStorm Cup has been on our minds lately, but now its time for national team action. Today, the Campionato Esportiva kicked off in Commune-PDTv2, right next to where our government wants to claim our homeland. This is the first tournament for the boys after our stinking up a storm in WC 65. And, we got off on a pretty good foot. Rheinhart decieded to go with a more conservative approach, going with a 4-4-2 diamond formation. And, today we played Mystyria at Muskula'dheen Glorious Stadium. Wow. Physos over there. Anyhow, we didn't get off to a good start, getting scored on a set piece in the 23rd. However, right before the half, Gunnar Baumgartner knocked in a rebound off a shot from Erik Rogalski. There were several more chances, but none were converted. I'd say we did a good job today. Next up, the latest from the IFSCIV."
