OFFICIAL BID
I. Introduction
The nations of Cassadaigua and the Equestrian States would be honored if the members of the World Cup Committee vote to approve this bid to co-host the upcoming 57th Cup of Harmony. We believe that it is imperative for this tournament to be in experienced hands as it is expected that this will be a highly competitive tournament.
Cassadaigua has a long history in the World Cup, debuting in World Cup 43, and participating in all but World Cup 63 since then. The nation has won two World Cups, as well as a Cup of Harmony championship. The culture of the nation, with the female being the dominant gender can provide some inspiration for RP for nations that might otherwise be looking for something to talk about. It has a proud history in many sports, and was one point away in the most recent International Basketball Championships from becoming the first nation to win the World Cup, World Bowl, World Cup of Hockey, World Baseball Classic, and International Basketball Championship.
The Equestrian States is relatively new to the World Cup, first appearing in the Baptism of Fire prior to World Cup 58, and competing in every World Cup since. While the Equestrian States has not had much success in the World Cup, failing in its first six attempts at qualification before finally appearing in the group stage of World Cup 64, the nation has participated in five Cups of Harmony, twice advancing to the second round. Like Cassadaigua, the Equestrian States offers a different cultural setting for those looking for RP inspiration, with a majority of the population being made up of sapient ponies and other intelligent non-humans. The nation has recently found success in several other tournaments, advancing to the semifinals in the World Baseball Classic and World Bowl, and claiming victory in the last Di Bradini Cup.
II. Format
Our preference will be for 32 teams and eight groups of four. However, we will be very willing to take on 40 nations and eight groups of five, if we feel that number more accurately reflects the amount of nations who have met our standards for inclusion in the tournament. A 48-nation format could be considered as well, but 32 or 40 are the most probable numbers.
The tiebreakers used will be similar to those employed in World Cup 65 qualifying: H2H results, goal differential, and goals for (in that order).
The final will be held in Equestrian States, with 3rd place game in Cassadaigua. Should one, or both, of the co-hosts have to also participate in the Cup of Harmony, the other co-host will scorinate the games involving that nation. (In other words, at no time, would one of us scorinate our own games).
III. Scorination & RP Bonus
Xkoranate will be used with the SQIS formula. RP bonus is cumulative throughout the tournament.
When it comes to evaluating RP’s, we respect that everyone has their own unique styles. But whatever style you prefer, we are looking for: originality, creativity and usage of all information in which you have at your disposal. In other words, if you provide a game report with an opponent that has provided a roster, but you use none of their player names, don’t expect a high grade. Quality > Quantity.
IV. Experience
The two nations have accumulated a significant amount of experience, and have even worked together in the past, with Cassadaigua scorinating games of the Equestrian States in World Baseball Classic 25 playoffs when Equestrian States hosted that tournament.
Individual Experiences are,
Cassadaigua: Most recently successfully hosted World Baseball Classic 26 and was the primary host in NSCAA 5. Prior to this, the nation has also hosted World Cup 54, Baptism of Fire 47, World Bowl 16, and World Baseball Classic 18.
Equestrian States: Currently is hosting World Cup of Hockey 21 and recently hosted Market Cup VI. Other tournaments this nation has hosted include World Baseball Classic 25 and all four editions of the Equestria Cup (the regional football/soccer tournament of the Pony Lands). Has also provided third-party scorination for two Pink Cups and numerous friendly matches.
