NationStates College Football season 8

Here it is! The eighth edition of NationStates College Football. Here you will find Rosters for your opposition, and all RPs should be posted here too.
Any questions should be posted in the discussion thread, to avoid OOC clutter, please. Failing that, feel free to send a telegram to Osarius or any other conference host.

As is normal between seasons here, there are a couple of changes again, so if you're a returning team, please read carefully. New teams, welcome!

The NSCF procedure is outlined here.

With numbers shrinking from last year, the NSCF Commissioner decreed that the league would shrink to six conferences. There was a little concern over how to decide which conferences to keep, and in the end it was decided that the conferences with the most returning teams (including new teams from the same nation as existing teams) should return. In the case of conferences with an equal number of teams, NSCF's television broadcast partners were polled on their preferences (OOCly, I averaged team ranks from last season in each conference). The selected conferences were: Celestia, Horizon, Mineral, Sequoia, Woodlands and Zephyr.

Each conference will have six teams, and the regular season will be double round-robin, for a total of 10 games. Games will be scorinated three times a week, on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please check your conference for a projected RP cutoff time. Scores will be posted in this thread.

After all ten regular season games, there will be a "Non-Conference week", with each team playing up to three games against opposition from other conferences. These games will not count toward conference championships, but WILL affect playoff seedings. All Non-Conference games must be arranged by the teams playing them, and confirmed by matchday four of the regular season.

The playoff format this season is twelve teams -- conference champions plus the next best four by OSPI, and two selected by the NSCF committee -- in a seeded, four round, single-elimination bracket. Seeds for the playoffs will be determined purely by OSPI, and the higher seed will have home advantage until the final, which will take place at a neutral venue yet to be decided. Any nation can put together a final hosting bid, before the start of Non-Conference week, to be voted on by the NSCF Committee.

In addition to the usual playoff system, there will be a small series of "bowl games" prior to the playoffs for teams not reaching the post-season. The following nations have proposed bowl games, and will be responsible for sending out invites to eligible teams closer to the time and confirming that the game will take place. There is no obligation to take part in a bowl game. The Pioneer Bowl is a traditional game for the two best performing newcomer teams not in the playoffs, and the NSCF will not recognise any bowl game involving a team with an OSPI below 0.450.

University
St.Croix University is the oldest university of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec. It was founded in 1668 by the Royal Charter granted to young Franco-Korean scholars of Quebec for the education of young aristocrats, nobles and bourgeoises.
The university is considered as one of the most prestigious universities of the Royal Kingdom of Quebec, if not the most. A research-intensive university, it's been built a perennial reputation for academics and is recognised as the leading and cutting edge of the humanities and the arts.

The university is located about 15km east of the Downtown Quebec City, in the riverbanks of the mighty 'Riviere St.Laurent'. The size of the campus is approximately 124 square kilometres, making it one of the largest universities in the nation for size. Despite its distance from the Downtown, It's easy to commute or go to the University campus, as 14 bus routes and a subway line provides an effective method of transportation.

[St.Croix in QIS
In Quebec Intercollegiate Sports(QIS), Universite St.Croix has developed reputation for its sports programs, especially for its best ones. The university provides 14 varsity,12 intramural and 26 club sports. The University is particularly well known for its football, volleyball and fencing program, all of which have won many league championships in last decade.

St.Croix Football
Universite St.Croix football program, among the oldest in Quebec, was founded in 1847 under the direction of Sir.Eric Labadie, who is considered as the father of Quebecois football. However, they managed limited(by their standards) success for 130 years, only winning 19 championships. That has changed however in 1977 when the University's football program, after a decade of mediocrity and declining attendance, faced its death. That has led to Laurent Labadie, the great-greandson of the older Labadie, and Ross Constantin, the St.Croix alumni and former assistant coach of the successful-Quebec voyageurs and several NFL teams for several years, to put up a proposal for reorganization of the football program. The proposal has been accepted by the Board of Governors, and the changes have been made.

The football program was reorganised into a new structure, with the non-profit group that consists of community members, board officials, student athletes to hold the responsible for managing and redeveloping the program. Then, the large funding has been secured from the Provincial and municipal government to seek the funding for the recreation of the top-quality infrastructure and training facilities to attract top talent and in turn, field a winning team.

In their first season under reorganised structure(1978), they have managed to pull off a 5-3 season,
After that however, they have managed to perform with enormous success in QIS Football(E.g. Alabama or USC in RL), beginning a Quebec-record string of above 0.500 seasons(which still continues to these days, now at 34 seasons. Their success, since then, is incomparable, with 15 championships in 34 seasons, as well as being the finalist for another 3. 412 of the 726 players from the program, has managed to join the well-known football leagues from both Quebec and around the World, which includes 28 in NFL and 69 in CFL.
The 1st-seeded Bleu et Blanc, after their close 64-63 loss to 2nd-seeded University of Iqaluit Lightning in Cartier Shield Finals, has joined the NationStates College Football League. However, this does not mean that the Bleu et Blanc withdrew from the QIS Football: It's just that the team will play on both leagues at the same time of the year.

Stadium

Image
St.Croix Stadium is the home stadium of the Located in the campus, it's known to be one of the most difficult stadiums in Gridiron Football. It's built on 1934, with the money that was generously donated from the alumni and students who fought as part of Korean-Quebecois forces in the Korean Independence War(1929-1932), a Quebecois victory.
The original capacity of the stadium was 24,000, which was increased to 47,560 due to renovations and expansions.
The stadium is known as one of most intimidating stadium on Gridiron Football: The roudy, house-packing fans rock down the stands with their perfectly orchestrated movements of cheers towards the home players and booing and jeers towards the away players, as well as various movements that are done such as waves and mass eruption with yelling after a Bleu et Blanc TD or FG.
The Home Games of Bleu et Blanc are always played in Friday nights, which starts in 20:00 and ends from 22:00-23:00.

ABOUT LU

A nationally ranked private university with seven degree-granting schools, LU is a distinguished center for teaching and research located in the heart of United South Dominion. LU’s 11,000 students benefit from small classes, leadership opportunities, international study and innovative programs. LU is celebrating the centennial of its founding in 1911 and its opening in 1915. Entering its second century of achievement, LU enjoys recognition as a prominent national university. The University prepares students for leadership in their professions and in their communities. Our location near the heart of United South Dominion – a thriving center of commerce and culture – offers students challenging experiences on campus and beyond. Relationships with the United South dominion region provide a platform for launching careers throughout the world. The University provides a strong foundation in the humanities and sciences and professional and graduate programs through seven degree-granting schools. The learning environment includes opportunities for research, community service, study abroad, internships and mentoring. LU was founded by what is now The United Christian Church, in partnership with civic leaders, and was shaped by the entrepreneurial spirit of the region. The University is nonsectarian in its teaching and committed to academic freedom and open inquiry.

KIDD BREWER STADIUM

In the history of the LU football program, June 13, 1997 and September 2, 2000, may stand out as the most significant days since the program's inception in 1915. The first date is when University officials announced that significant funds had been raised to begin construction on the brand new Kidd Brewer Stadium. The second is the date that Mustang football returned to campus with the inaugural game in the stadium against Kansas. The state-of-the-art facility would not have been possible without the generous donations of Kidd Brewer, Lamar and Norma Hunt, Ray L. and Nancy Ann Hunt, and Sherrill and Jo Ann Pettus, all of whom are LU alumni. Kidd Brewer Stadium, finished in August of 2000 on the former Ownby Stadium grounds, has a horseshoe configuration with an open south end zone adjacent to Mockingbird Lane. The architecture is consistent with the Collegiate-Georgian style of the entire LU campus and features traditional, yet state-of-the-art design concepts. The stadium has a seating capacity of 32,000 with the possibility for future expansion to 45,000. The 32,000-seat configuration includes nearly 600 preferred club level seats and 240 seats in 24 spacious luxury suites housed in a custom, three-level press box. In addition to housing preferred club and suite seating, the air-conditioned press box provides excellent sightlines and comfortably accommodates more than 125 working print, radio and television media. The playing surface is 25 feet below ground level, with half of the stadium's seats sunk below grade, ensuring a smooth transition into the surrounding neighborhood and the remainder of the LU campus. Kidd Brewer Stadium was designed by the sports and entertainment design division of Ellerbe Becket, Inc., an architectural firm based in Fort City, USD.

FOOTBALL LOCKER ROOM

The LU football locker room is one of the nicest NSCF lockerrooms in all of college football. It underwent a near $3 million upgrade in the summer of 2011, with changes to the locker room including the creation of a new team lounge, as well as new lockers, updated graphic and audio/visual equipment. Other renovations included a new team meeting room with stadium-style seating as well as renovated positional meeting rooms. Walter Umphrey, a former LU student and Beaumont attorney, donated $1 million to the efforts in honor of his former Mustang teammate Garry Weber. LU alumnus and Austin businessman John Gorman and an anonymous Houston-based donor each gifted $500,000 for the project, and the remaining balance of the $2.7 million was from various donors. Plenty of space is available in the lockers to keep the athletes' equipment. Space is available for their custom-fitted pads and helmets. The Mustang football players also keep their wide assortment of workout clothing in the lockers. Each locker has a built-in storage area for the player's numerous pairs of playing and workout shoes. There are individual lock boxes for valuables and a built-in cabinet located at the bottom of each locker, as well as personalized plates to i.d. each player's individual locker. Adjacent to the locker room is LU's 10,000-square-foot state-of-the-art strength and conditioning center and the new equipment room, where an equipment issue area and a laundry facility, is located directly across the hall from the locker room.

STRENGHT & CONDITIONING CENTER

The Vic and Gladie Jo Salvino Strength and Condition Center opened in August of 2000 and is located in the Loyd All-Sports Center. The 10,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art training facility includes 1,500 sq. ft. of functional drill space to go along with 14 Olympic platforms with elite Olympic bumper plates. Twenty-one self-contained free weight stations are complemented by over 13,000 total pounds of equipment available to LU student-athletes. The Salvino Strength and Conditioning Center includes state-of-the-art aerobic equipment and 35 top-of-the-line weight stations. With attention to detail including customized iron grip weights emblazoned with the Mustang logo, the Salvino Strength and Conditioning Center services over 500 athletes and 17 sports.

LU STRENGTH & CONDITIONING PHILOSOPHY

The objective of the LU strength & conditioning staff is not only to produce stronger, better conditioned student-athletes, but also to build discipline and mental toughness in each student-athlete through the implementation of a very structured and organized environment. Student-athletes are held accountable for the commitment and effort that they put into the program, and lifting and conditioning must be viewed as a vital element in the training program for student-athletes of any sport. The LU strength & conditioning staff also plays a major role in the nutritional counseling and the implementation of healthy diets for each of our student-athletes. Our staff is responsible for selecting NSCF-approved supplements that we deem the most beneficial to our student-athletes. On a daily basis, our strength & conditioning coaches weigh-in student-athletes to help monitor changes in bodyweight that may be associated with dehydration, illness, skipping meals, overeating, eating junk foods, etc. This is all done in an effort to help our student-athletes reach his or her ideal playing weight and to keep energy levels high and hydration levels sufficient.

Riversburg-Madison University Ducks

Image

As the saying goes, defense wins championships. The age-old adage may seem antiquated amid today's gridiron wars of unmitigated and wide-open offensive attacks, but the fact that we still use it suggests it's as relevant as ever. For what good is a show-stopping spread offense that short-circuits scoreboards if your defense can't stop the opponent from doing the same in the playoffs?

Led by dual-threat freshman quarterback Valdemar Mathiesen and the receiving pair of Hudson Swinburne and Kristján Tryggvason, the Riversburg-Madison Ducks were anything but starved for offense in NSCF 7. Despite posting at least 8 wins for the second consecutive season however, RMU failed to exceed expectations in NSCF 7. A defense that returned all but two starters from a NSCF 6 unit that finished the season as one of the Sequoia's best was expected to be the perfect complement to an offense that could score at will, prompting many to place RMU in their small pool of national championship contenders. But, whilst the seasons defense was generally solid, it took one playoff game to blow a whole seasons hard work out of the water.

The advent of the NSCF 8 season has brought a period of transition to the RMU program. Some of the most noteworthy players in school history have departed, but a crop of talented, albeit inexperienced, underclassmen appears ready to take over, determined to prove that RMU has the resources to at least keep within arm's length of the nation's elite season after season.

Change has also gripped the coaching staff. No longer present is former defensive coordinator Bogdan Babic, who defected to the Netteingen Tech to coach the defence in the south of Khabarovsk Krai. Babic caught a majority of the flack for last season's playoff downfall, but it's unjust to place too much of the blame on a man who entrusted his players to carry out the same scheme that had proved so successful in NSCF 6.

Succeeding Babic is Anton Seleznyov, a former Marine and traditional disciplinarian who promises to carry over the same no-frills approach to his new position that he utilized while tutoring RMU's linebackers for the past eight seasons. In the wake of his promotion, Seleznyov, who will retain his old title, said that he intends to institute more of a conventional scheme for NSCF 8, reverting to more of a 4-3 alignment rather than upholding Babic's penchant for using five defensive backs.

Most of the players that made up the RMU defense each of the last two seasons have departed, giving way to those who have spent the past few years soaking in the action from the sideline—and some that haven't. Of the players listed on RMU's spring defensive depth chart, a large amount are either true sophomores or redshirt freshmen. Factor in the 11 defensive recruits who will arrive on campus in the coming weeks, and the Ducks' fall depth chart will resemble a day care of sorts.

Unlike past seasons, however, several years of solid recruiting efforts on the part of head coach Kyrill Roosenboom and his staff have produced considerable and quality depth all across the board, with a significant portion of it existing on defense. Because of this depth, a slew of competitive battles should take place during pre-season, which, in turn, should only add to the excitement that already surrounds RMU's defense this season.

Rosenboom has said repeatedly over the offseason that this is as athletic a defensive squad as he's had in his nine seasons in Riversburg. And while only time will tell whether that's true or not, there's definitely reason to believe that this year's unit will enable RMU fans to forget all about NSCF 7's defensive debacle.

If RMU is to capture its second straight Sequoia title, players on both sides of the ball will have to mature quickly. But with so many skill positions on the offense now manned by unproven youngsters, it will be up to the defense to keep the team afloat until those replacing Brophy, Swinburne, and Kleeman emerge and come into their own.

And that will mean reassuring the offense that it won't have to score every time it touches the ball, which is something the NSCF 7 RMU defense couldn't do.

Earthquakes and heat waves are probably the only weather interruptions that should ever happen at the Rose Bowl; conditions leading to an unacceptable risk of heatstroke (etc) may lead to several hours' delay, once in a blue moon. Rival Be Back?

As the new season onfolds, West TaQud's main rival, Freedom Altar, in the Horizon Conference is so far on a 1 year hiatus. Freedom Altar is 2-0 Against West TaQud in the Playoffs. Since West TaQud joined the NSCF in the 5th Season, Freedom Altar owns the series and has more division titles than West TaQud. "To be honest I always thought they [Freedom Altar] were the best team in the Horizon Conference." said Jack Jugle, quarterback and captain of the West TaQud Infernapes. "They certainly have a better playoff history than us too." (Note: Yesopalitha's other college team, Sacred Heart, is also on a 1 year hiatus also)

But there are new teams this year in the Horizon Conference. Luveinia State University Stars from Loufe, Université-Centrale Lakers from Sicoutimont, and University of Concord Heights Queens from Cassadaigua are all in their first season in the NSCF. From the TaQud Gazette, the analysts predicted that Concord heights goes 6-4, Luveinia State goes 4-6, and Université-Centrale Lakers goes 3-7.
Full Standings that the TaQud Gazette analysts predicted:
West TaQud 9-1
Ramusok Capital 6-4
Concord Heights 6-4
Luvenia State 4-6
Université-Centrale 3-7
Stoneshore College 2-8

But you may never know what happens in NSCF!

Nation States College Football Eight, Mineral Conference Line Up

Welcome welcome back to what will be another exciting season of the only college football league in the NS Universe. As with every new season new teams dot many conferences while the elders look to see their blood spilled to drum up support. For too many seasons our dear Mineral Conference was seen as weak a push over compared to Woodlands who owns three NSCF titles, Frbiba State who won NSCF 5 and Utica who won NSCF 2 & 4.

But now the Mineral has gained much respect, and now is considered more dangerous and outta be thanks to our Port Salem Anchors who stunned many when we beat Alzburg-Dyka to win the 7th NSCF! Finally something to bring home our players did. As many did say we didn't win the title, we won THE title, meaning for the first time ever UPS lost the Mineral Conferenec title to Salem Community, but we won the league title.

Oh yes not defending our conference title for a fifth year did in deed come to a great shock to many, at the sart of last season we though Valor Coast would take it not Salem! Salem for many years was simply known for really bad football and football players, but to come in and take down UPS as they did last season will give hope to others. The most stunning stat is that Salem is the first team to ever sweep our Anchors in conference play. Along with that Salem is tied with Valor Coast to beat Port Salem the most in conference play, which is tied at two times.

Now Port Salem you see before NSCF 6 was good but only in name, because come the playoffs we always found a way to choke, going into NSCF 6 Port Salem was 2-3 in the playoffs. Ever since Coach Shular was hired Port Salem has gone 6-1 under him thanks in large part to him Port Salem has seen better days and will continue to do so. Coming into the 8th NSCF season Todd Shular has a 25-5 overall record, a 17-3 conference record, 6-1 in the playoffs. Compare that to the first three years he has really improved the team and that will help a lot this season because the Mineral has gotten much tougher.

NSCF VIII Mineral Conference

East Kilbride University Birds
Oklahoma City State University Coyotes
University of Port Salem Anchors
Salem Community College Saints
Scallions Tech University Mariners
Scott City University Broncos

------------------------------------------
My goodness didn't it get a bit more difficult, it has really matured since its conception in NSCF 3, from then on we had been paired with weak teams, but we all knew that after last season things would change and they have. This season we are joined again by the long lost OCSU Coyotes whom we've never lost to in three seasons we played them. The one that has gotten many talking is Scott City, many still remember the playoff game against them in NSCF 5 to which we lost badly. Three teams to watch out for Salem Scott City and Oklahoma City State, hmm it appears unless the Anchors are not on the top of their game the odds are not in our favor.

East Kilbride University Birds [Homelands Our]
Prediction: 3-7
Threat Level:low

I've heard of them but not really much, unless they show up it wont be a blow out.

Oklahoma City State University Coyotes
Prediction: 5-5
Threat Level: Moderate

What we once said was the closest thing we had to a rivalry before Valor Coast. We know much, but now since they've come back they could have changed and now will be a larger threat. The Anchors must be ready for anything Salem is the prime example they were not seen as a threat and look what happened.

Salem Community College Saints
Prediction: 7-3
Threat Level: High

Salem what are we going to do about you, for so many years you out right sucked but come last year you found a spark and lite fire to the old ways. Un-throwned UPS and made it to the second round of the post-season. We have our eye on you this year.

Scallions Tech University Mariners
Prediction: 2-8
Threat Level: Low

Never heard of them, plus they're new so I don't expect much.

Scott City University Broncos
Prediction: 8-2
Threat Level: High

They've been for many years dominate in their conference, they've shown they can do damage in the playoffs however though they've failed to reach any farther than I believe the semi-finals. But knowing much of them they are a threat.

University of Port Salem Anchors
Prediction: 9-1
Threat Level: High

We're also a threat to everyone we play and many times a threat to our selves. The team shouldn't worry about repeating they need to focusing on the season ahead, don't worry about the playoffs those are still fourteen weeks away anything can happen. Focus one game at a time, and who knows maybe UPS will break the Champions curse that no team has ever repeated.
Domestic sports leagues

NS is just a state of mind, time has no boundary nor does our sanity.

Please ignore my senseless ramblings, I'm getting old.

I. THE DRONE SPRING - KERN COUNTY, FSC
-C. Oli Meets the Documentarian

Drenched in sweat, wearing almost nothing, Oliver returned to headquarters at the Northeastern Commune with his attention split between the half-burnt unmanned aerial vehicle in his arms and the Long Beach Iced Tea back in the breakfast nook. He nodded at an automatic sensor and then breathed into a hidden tube, validating his identity through the biometric scanner. Just under six feet tall, Oliver was light brown, muscular to the point of functionality and no more, brain patterns shaped by the traumas of events that he could not shake. The dro ne was about three to four feet wide and perhaps 1.5-2.5 feet long, light, thin, with worn-down landing gear, marred on most of the left side by fire.

"Hi!" Oli jumped a little, almost dropping the drone. "All apologies", said Abri, who also stated his name and extended his hand in greeting. "I would knock, but given the circumstances, it is best to be discreet and not stand too long outside doorways." With a frustrated nod to the breakfast nook, Oli shrugged him off and briskly shuffled over to a room across the hall. He deposited the drone on the floor there and began to turn away, before he suddenly stopped and realized he should take another quick look. After all, he was armed. Giving a quick glance down the hall, Oli returned his attention to the drone. McDowell, he thought, XM-282... Oliver turned the drone over and found a screw-on panel, which he marked with a neon-bright sticky note. He started out the door again, then smiled and stopped. He realized he almost took his screwdriver. Leaving it on a shelf near the door, Oli walked down the hall to inquire after the stranger.

He trundled slowly down the hall, shoes sounding off clump....clump....clump as he approached Abri, the window and the drink. Oli took a long, slow look at Abri before finally picking his iced tea back up and taking a long, stony sip. "Listen, uh, Audrey, I'm not sure what you think I signed up for..."

Abri smiled, then shook his head gently and apologized for the confusion. "No sir, you said it was...Oliver? Oliver, good sir, while I wish I'd had the chance to exchange formalities before our meeting, this issue has become rather urgent." Oli's glass made a louder thunk as it hit the table, droplets of condensation splashing across the lightly stained wood. Abri continued: "I am a documentarian and community organizer. I know what the republicans are doing to you, Oliver. I know how they've drained the life out of this place." With a weary sigh, Oli nodded, taking another long, slow pull from the drink, feeling a little more light headed now, just a little less in control. "Now, I know you may not initially be comfortable with this, but in order to regain control of our lives, we need to document these attacks..."

Oliver coughed and hacked, setting the drink down with a louder thump as he sputtered and grabbed at the napkin holder. Finally, he turned back to the short, thin man, a slightly darker brown, with intense hazel eyes reflecting something hidden yet accessible, and said, "Aubrey, look, we all agreed to turn these drones in without making special study of them." At first Abri nodded, his lower lip turned down oh so slightly, a hand raised low and gently as if in protest. "Right, agree...did we agree, Oliver? Did we?" That's when it all started to come back to him...

SCALLIONS TECH UNIVERSITY MARINERS FOOTBALL

Introduction to Scallions Tech Univ.

Scallions Tech University, or officially known as "Scallions Polytechnic Institute and State University" was founded by Joseph R. Evans in 1863 as an agricultural community college. Now, it serves as a large institute for technical arts and applied sciences. However, it is also home to Sandwich Territories' best collegiate football program, as it is the only one in the NSCF. It has approx. 45,000 students, and 23,000 undergraduates. There are 125 campus buildings and and occupies 1,900 acres of land.

The Paul L. Hackett Stadium, also known as The Rotunda can hold 81,000 fans, and was built in 1926. It was supposed to be covered by a dome, but fans wanted the stadium to be open, so the school complied. It is also known for the ability to change colors on the exterior going from green, to gold, and to white, a feature that was installed in 2003.

This season, the Coyotes are led by Eli King, a Sophomore from Orlando with a quick arm and the brain to match, he was the number one recruit two seasons ago that was snatched up by OCSU when he was in 8th grade. Having only graduated a handful of players, OCSU is looking to destroy the competition this year and finally join the ranks of the elite in the NSCF world.

A Fan's Guide to The University of Korcyka: Part I

So you think you're a college football fan, eh? Well you haven't lived until you've experienced all that The University of Korcyka has to offer on gamedays. Located in the Southern Islands of Thatius, Korcyka has a population well over 2 million. The University of Korcyka is the largest university in the city, boasting over 35,000 students. The campus sits right outside the city in the district aptly named College Hill. The nice, laid-back suburb can be reached from downtown in 20 minutes by the subway or 30 minutes by car.

Once on campus, the university offers plenty of things to do for visitors on gameday. First and foremost, there is tailgating on the Lawn, which is located in the center of the university. Thousands of students, alumni, and fans will bring their tents, grills, chairs, and of course food and alcohol to this stunning location. The atmosphere will be alive as fans play music, throw footballs, grill out, talk to one another, watch other football games, and of course play cornhole and spikeball. Visiting fans are always welcomed to join in these tailgates, seeing as Korcyka fans are some of the most friendly and inviting fans out there.

Image

After enjoying time on the Lawn, it's best to head to the entrance of the stadium, where you can see the buses drop of the football team. Right there, the football team huddles and starts the legendary Warhawk Chant. They come together at the end of the chant and then break off and sprint towards the locker room, high-fiving the fan's as they go.

Before heading to your seats, you can catch a glimpse of the University of Korcyka marching band, as they follow the football team into the stadium. They lead off with several different songs, but at the end the drumline creates a beat that everyone marches to. Other famous songs they play include the "Yell" and "Warhawk Wonder".

If you're feeling curious to explore campus, make sure to visit the university's 5-story library which hosts a collection of nearly 12 million books and includes the Korcykan Diary, a book kept by the man who first discovered the Southern Islands and founded the city of Korcyka hundreds of years ago. The Yellstone Place hosts the university's administration, but is also home to the largest food court on campus and the student center.

In the next edition of A Fan's Guide to The University of Korcyka, we will uncover the awe-inspiring traditions of the Warhawks during the game, including the Warhawk Chant and Screening of Victory. Until then.

Welcome to the University of Alzburg-Dyka!

This season is an interesting one for the University of Alzburg-Dyka, after coming oh-so-very-close to defending their title in the 7th season of the NSCF, they are finally starting to be considered inside Mytannion as one of the biggest teams involved in the multi-national collegiate football league and they are seen by some on foreign shores as perhaps the biggest team in the league right now. The team have one NSCF Championship in two runs to the biggest game of them all and last season seemed to be their big chance to double their money, with a lot of players from last year having left now (including the whole offensive line, the two fullbacks, the starting tight end, the two starting safeties and two d-line starters!). This year is truly going to be a season of change, with a lot of the heroes of the past having moved on to the big leagues or 'proper' jobs, this is the chances for some of the lesser lights and the more unnoticed players to come into their own. They can at least be pleased that their offense is back to normal, last season saw the emergence of Marc Zotov as a mobile pocket passer, even if he is a little undersized and though last season nobody expected UAD to try and become a dynasty - they did come close to nearly making it two championships in two seasons - could they possibly visit a third NSCF Championship game in as many years? All the questions will be answered over the course of this season.

The University is renowned for providing students with excellent degrees in Sciences, with biology having a huge amount of funding diverted towards it. A new interdisciplinary bioscience department was funded jointly by the state and the university - costing a huge M(C)52 million - which, in Mytanar terms is an extremely large amount of money (it should be noted that the Mytanar Economy is almost perpetually stuck in a recession, Mytannion is possibly the poorest 'developed' nation in Rushmore). The University furthers research into genetics for the government with the state and the university having a connection that dates back well into the 1800s (it is 2015 according to the Mytanar calendar), with the royal family having lived at 'the Alzburg' since 1809 - the Alzburg is a palace located on a hill above the town of Dyka and is well known throughout the nation. The people at Dyka University liked the royal family so much that they actually decided to name the University after the royal's summer dwelling in 1840. Since then, the University has been known as the University of Alzburg-Dyka and is a centre of (as aforementioned), sciences but also Rushmori Politics. Rushmore is indeed a region which prides itself on having quite a leftist political scene - Mytannion is probably at the centre of this scene being a hive of leftist thought in terms of economic theory, but also social theory - with it being known as one of the most liberal nations in all of Rushmore. This thought hasn't helped much evidently, as Mytannion is possibly also one of the poorest nations in all of Rushmore, with many citizens living in squalid conditions on the council estates which are ubiquitous with the green and orange stars that make up the Mytanar flag. The nation is improving though, with a focus on helping those who need it as well as offering some more opportunities in business as Mytanar politics has experienced a small shift right (it's still massive left-wing, with the majority of people identifying as socialist and liberal - the latter in terms of personal and civil freedom, obviously, not economics).

The Location.

Dyka - is basically nothing more than a sprawling overflow of the former university and the small village that provided for the royal family when they were in town. Now it has turned into a metropolitan town which has superb transport links with the rest of the island of Nasto and the rest of Mytannion. Dyka has its own international airport, located on the outskirts of the town which caters for both domestic travel and Rushmori travel. If you are not travelling to Dyka from another Rushmori nation then you will have to fly into Esca International or Alex Util Airport in Thessia and then get a connection flight to Dyka. You could always use the trusty train service we have in Mytannion too, with links from all across Nasto coming into Dyka and you also have the ability to travel from mainland Mytannion to Dyka too if you take the Trunca-Cizian Link Tunnel, which is a tunnel under the Namyt Strait (the body of water separating the mainland from the isle of Nasto), that connects Trunca - a city on the south-coast of Mytannion to Cizian - a port town on the north-eastern coast of Nasto. The whole town has been massively redeveloped in recent years, with the town centre being expanded so it can have some of the international brand names other nations enjoy gracing its' streets. There are now a whole lot of modern businesses and foreign investment has been almost tripled in the area - the whole town seems to have been constructed out of glass, steel and red brick now, with the majority of structures being modernised. Still, everything revolves around the university. If you live in Dyka, you're a Royals fan - there's no other choice really. As the town is a 'University Town', there are a number of pubs, clubs and bars that cater to your alcohol-consuming, bad dancing and general fun-having needs.

The Stadium.

Tiegemburk Park - is an extremely modern stadium, by Mytanar standards anyway. This is the fifth season of use for Tiegemburk Park and the 60,000 capacity makes it one of the largest stadiums in Mytannion. Of course, that is just the official capacity and usually the actual attendance exceeds the official capacity by approximately 2,000. Tiegemburk Park, being a modern stadium has some of the best amenities available; including the under soil heating, which is of prime importance in Mytannion - what with the cold and sometimes very snowy weather. Tailgating here is superb, with fans gathering for hours before the game and setting up the barbecue and getting the party started with a lot of alcohol consumed and a lot of impromptu chanting started up everywhere. Inside the stadium, there are specific sections for different fans. There's the north stand, which is split half and half between away fans and the loudest home fans. This is where a drum beats away all game, setting the beat for the offense to move the chains downfield. The away fans are separated from the most vociferous fans by a huge wire fence. The main stand, where the team runs out is packed with the alums of the college - this is the main family section, and is often seen as the section that represents the university best - maize and blue packs this section of the stadium, showing off the university's colours brilliantly. The south stand, is another fanatical section, filled with some of the students. The other sideline stand is a real mixture of support, with families and people who don't hold season tickets being found here, this section doesn't have a roof and is completely open to the worst that the Mytanar elements can throw.

Domestic Performance.

In a domestic season where Marc Zotov managed to pass for over 4,800 yards and Decraa College collapsed to extreme lows (recording only a 7-7 record in the tough Midlands Conference), it would be UAD who once again rose above the rest and claimed their 12th MNCF Championship. They went through the regular season with a 12-2 record, suffering defeats to only Parr Agricultural (33-30 in overtime) and Parr State (19-17, State managing a touchdown on the last play of the game to peg the Royals back to 9-2 in Week 11). They would be destined to play Thessia State, a rejuvenated power of Mytanar college football and a team that was looking to win its 9th MNCF Championship. UAD came out of the blocks well though, scoring a touchdown on a lovely little play from Zotov, he made a pump fake towards Selezynov and instead of throwing it over the middle to him went out wide to Efremov who stretched the field and took it home. 7-0.

Thessia State came back, their game plan revolving around a solid running game that had steamrolled everyone that had come before them - they had finished with an 11-3 record out of the Northwestern Conference and they looked like they may well be a force to be reckoned with once again. Their massive running back Slavko Pavicic taking it home and the PAT being converted with ease 7-7. UAD went back ahead through a field goal and then added another touchdown too, a run from Ihor Voronkov showing that he's in good form again as he heads into the NSCF season. 17-7. Thessia State managed to get another touchdown just before half-time, with Pavicic once again running in from a short yardage situation. 17-14 was the score at the half.

Thessia State levelled things pretty quickly after half-time with an easy field goal, but UAD struck back out front after going three and out following a big run by Voronkov. The field goal was up and good, 20-17. UAD stretched their lead through a third touchdown, Zotov getting his second passing TD of the game with a great throw to Selezynov who did the rest and bowled his way into the endzone. PAT'er was up and good, 27-17 going into the final quarter and UAD looked comfortable. They weren't going to be for long though, Thessia State got a field goal on their next drive and then forced a fumble on UAD's first drive following that, from this, they got another field goal. 27-23 going into the final ten minutes or so. They forced a three and out on UAD's next drive and this gave them the chance to drive down the field the other way and put up another field goal 27-26, five minutes to go.

Unfortunately for Thessia State, the Royals had messed around enough and went down the other end of the field on an 87 yard drive and put the ball in the endzone. Zotov got his third touchdown of the day, passing out towards the left sideline for Kaijser to take home and the PAT was converted with ease. Final score 34-26, UAD win their 12th National Championship.

The Team.
The Coaching Team.
The coaching staff remains largely the same from last season - which is of course hugely important, consistency breeds success, forget all you have heard about defense winning championships, it's rubbish - consistency is the key. One chance is that of Wadislaw Resoek, the defensive coordinator has left the college and has become the Head Coach of a national rival in the form of Thessia State - they hope he'll return them to the great heights they once regularly scaled. To replace him, the Royals have promoted from within and have moved former defensive backs coach Sergei Lavrov into the role of Defensive Coordinator. It's not the biggest step up there could be and Lavrov does know exactly what UAD are all about having come into the college in the year of their NSCF Championship victory - it's a good choice, held in high regard by many as it shows exactly what college football is all about, hard work being rewarded.

A new coach has come on board in the form of Tomasz Hylaand - he has taken up Lavrov's old role of defensive backs coach and was recommended by the new defensive coordinator himself. Hylaand has experience at various institutes around the country, being somewhat of a journeyman coach, enjoying spells at Thessia, Queens University, Astern Pont and most successfully at Miago State. Hylaand will largely be continuing Lavrov's work with a developing secondary which is made-up of a fair few young players. He'll just try and keep the conservative approach with them, which allows the playmaking linebackers to step-up and create turnovers, knowing they have the insurance of a secondary that will be able to stop any big plays. This team doesn't exactly have a blanket defense that will smother everything, but it has one which makes important plays and that is key.

Offensively everybody returns and this allows for Toman to continue developing the offense in the way he sees fit, it's doubtful we'll see too much change however. There won't be any big changes to a different playing style, we expect to continue in the pro set formation for this season and we expect more recruiting to be done in that vein - although Troxel has in the past given indications that he'd enjoy trying to run an option offense of some form, which would be an interesting experiment - although it'd probably be a bad fit at an institute like Alzburg-Dyka where passing is seen as the most important part of any offense.

Special teams maintain the consistency they have always enjoyed, although it's not really going to cause too much trouble if there is a bit of change in that department, let's be honest. UAD doesn't tend to have a good special teams unit, kickers are often only average, punters tend to be poor and return men tend to be horrendous. It allows for the quarterback to pad his statistics, of course.

The Offense.
Coordinator: Filip Toman
Base Formation: Pro set/splitback formation.

Marc Zotov had a fairly successful first proper season with UAD, he of course had to sit out the majority of NSCF 6 with a medical redshirt, which led to Jaromir Kudryashov leading the offense to the NSCF Championship which was strange. Zotov took control in NSCF 7 and delivered his team to the Championship game where they faced an incredibly strong Port Salem, it was always going to be a tough game and the offense was just shutdown by a superior side in a fairly boring 13-0 game. Most importantly for this offense though, Ihor Voronkov returns for his final season of eligibility and after a season dogged by knee and ankle issues, he's back and in the peak of fitness according to Filip Toman and that should put fear into every single NSCF team out there. UAD are back and they have people who can make plays whether through the air or on the ground and it looks like this offense, despite a relatively unknown o-line and receivers corps, could be the strongest UAD offense in years - since the Ostgurn days. It has to be noted that Jaromir Kudryashov has transferred to little known Bedzin College in the Southwestern Conference, following a season with out much game time - Arne Kitz is now back-up and it may not be long before he follows suit.

Redshirting for current season: None.

The offense has changed greatly since last season, one constant is that Marc Zotov will once again take the helm of it on the field and will be the one given the task of carrying out Filip Toman's orders out there. He's bulked up slightly and grown about an inch in the off season - proving that men keep growing until the age of around 21, he's still only 20 - despite being a sophomore (they'd usually be 19 and for education purposes he's a junior, but the medical redshirt in athletics has given him another year of eligibility so he's a little older than the average sophomore in that case). His passing arm has gotten stronger and he should be a valuable part of the offense once again after passing for over 3,700 yards last season. He'll just hope to improve his touchdown:interception ratio, he threw 25 TDs and 9 interceptions. He'll try and get the latter statistic down a fair bit for this season as he matures even more as a player.

Ihor Voronkov enters his final season of eligibility coming off the back of an injury ravaged season, he didn't take up the opportunity of a medical redshirt last year despite just about qualifying for the opportunity to have one. He's been described as being in peak fitness by his coordinator - whether that's true or not remains to be seen but if he is, Voronkov will be a scary prospect for defenses to deal with. A top form Voronkov is a different proposition altogether to a normal halfback and he can easily churn out big runs. Voronkov has bulked up significantly in the off-season, tipping the scales at 220 pounds, a little heavier than the average halfback in Mytannion - that sort of weight is usually what we look at for fullbacks but Voronkov will use the extra muscle to his advantage and try to add bulldozing runs to his repertoire as he already has the fleetness of foot and ability to change direction quickly, being able to run through the opposition will only augment that positively.

The receiving corps look a little weaker than last season, Efremov and Kaijser return and that's certainly a positive as if they didn't this offense would only have two returning starters - as it is they have four and them extra two players are the difference between a team with some decent experience and a team that looks out of its depth. Efremov will be used as the go-to man in the short pass plays whilst also being the quicker man who can go deep and Kaijser is likely to be the mid-range receiver who can stretch the play a little. At tight end Emmanuel Selezynov will be starting - the redshirt junior is a hefty guy - standing 6'4, 231 pounds. He'll be a tough man to stop if he can catch the ball in open play. He's a better blocker than he is a receiver though and it's expected he'll be used in the run game and in some trickier plays. He should be good to use in the short passing game though as his ability to turn yards after the catch is extremely useful and is mainly down to his size.

The offensive line is the area that has been changed completely, five new men coming in to fill things out and the lack of experience could cause some issues - though this o-line has learnt its trade from some of the best there have ever been, the likes of Moller, Johansen and Christiansen are some of the best line-men Mytannion has ever seen. Seniors Vinogradoff, Voronov and Zaitsev will be key in the success of this line as they have the know how and the size to anchor the line and protect the backfield, they've learnt well from those who have gone before them and they will be massively important this season. The two underclassmen that have been chosen to fill the other two positions along the o-line are redshirt junior Julian Andreev at left guard and Maxim Bodrov, redshirt junior at right tackle. They'd be seniors if they hadn't redshirted a season and so they also both have good experience, size and ability - but they did sit out a year - so it'll be interesting to see how they cope. If the offensive line performs this season, UAD should have another run deep into the play-offs, if not, the Royals could well be in trouble.

The Defense.
Coordinator: Sergei Lavrov
Base Formation: 4-3 Defense.

This season is sure going to be a difficult one for the Royals' defense. They lose four starters, one being the legendary Marwan Pijnenberg. The others are the two starting safeties and the best defensive end the University has had in years. College football is a sport which relies on replacing your best talent with talent that is of equal quality - but when you're losing players that are going to go on to have spectacular careers in the professional ranks on a regular basis that job becomes even harder than it should be. Mix this in with the fact that you have a new defensive coordinator who will bring some new ideas to the role and that makes this season one of the most difficult for the UAD defense in years. The defense has typically been solid in Dyka, but this could be the first time when it opens up some holes. It is used to being a turnover machine with the defensive line churning up its opposition and putting some hurt on the opposition's backfield. The secondary also contributes regularly, picking the opposition off through the air. However, it isn't always the most solid unit and that will be magnified this season as we expect it to concede a whole lot of points with some regularity - gone are the days when it will concede under 10 points per game with ease, this season it'll be a treat for the opposition. RMU, Netteingen and the Royals' non-conference rivals - sit up and take note.

Two returning starters on the defensive line isn't bad at all, especially as the two are pretty talented relative to their direct contemporaries in their positions from around the NSCF. Gerard Carson comes back for another year at defensive tackle, the big Michaelian will be the space-eater on the d-line for the Royals once again, whilst also adding an impressive ability to stop the run into the equation. He's a big plus for this defensive line this season. To the outside of him is Theo Abramov, the defensive end has accrued a lot of experience during his time with the Royals and he is now in his senior year - he'll be vital in the success of the defensive line. He's slightly undersized but don't let that fool you, he has an outstanding burst of speed off the snap and is good at shedding blocks. He'll be the one who makes plays in this defensive line unit.

The two new boys, stepping up to the starting role for the first time in their young careers are senior defensive tackle Oscar Ignatyev - who has spent the last few years learning from one of the best in the form of Marwan Pijnenberg, he now has the unenviable task of having to replace him - and also Modest Kryukov, #88 has had a variety of injuries down the years that have meant that he's never been a regular starter. He's been in and out of the defense and has a number of appearances under his belt, he's a very balanced sort of player, he won't go out of his way to make big hits or big plays but can make them if necessary. He's solid and will make few mistakes, which is important when the d-line is probably at the height of its power. Three seniors on this line will mean its a season where they'll hope to succeed and perhaps win an NSCF Championship ring, they just need the rest of the defense and their offense to step up and hope they can maintain some quality performances throughout the campaign.

The linebackers corps are often a cause for concern in the UAD team but not this season as they have three returning starters and one of them is Johnson van Eekeren - he has a few scores to settle - the left outside linebacker will be looking to break the school's record for career tackles, set by Ragnar Simmundsson. Johnson sits on 155 tackles, 76 off the record. He managed 82 last campaign and he'll want to better that, so look for him to do that. He is of course the big playmaker on the defense too, 14 career interceptions (6 last term), and 15 career sacks (8 last term), when UAD send the blitz he'll be the one the opposition will be looking out for, van Eekeren is the real deal. Alongside him are Arrun Montrose, who's geared towards stopping the run and containing the opposition. He's also grown into the role of directing the defense in their play calls, he's been given the role of defensive captain by Sergei Lavrov and that shows his quality. Montrose is a player who analyses the game as well as being a player and he knows exactly what he needs to work on to become a better player. To the outside of him is Yaroslav Bocharov, a player who did specialise in stopping the run but has altered his game to become a more complete linebacker and is now equally adept in blitz packages, coverage, run-stop and containment. Bocharov completes what is an absolutely brilliant set off linebackers and this is something this team are really proud of - even if they may have problems along the d-line and in the secondary this season.

There's a bit of change in the secondary (mainly involving the safeties and positional changes), Gordey Zubarev and Audvar Sommerstad return at cornerback and both will have worked on their ability to join in prevention of the opposition's run game - or so everybody in Dyka hopes. Neither of them impressed that much in stopping the run last season, even if their coverage skills are excellent - Zubarev recorded 7 interceptions last term - if they can become key parts of stopping the run-game too they will be incredibly important players this season, especially in a team that is sometimes deficient against the run. Two new safeties - with one transitioning from cornerback - is a recipe for disaster too and the Royals will have to hope that they have made the right choice in doing what they have done in this off-season. Hilarion Golubov is experienced and has had a fair few snaps under his belt, if he can do well at free safety it'll set the tone for how his strong safety will do too. Thomas Vasiliev is a redshirt junior who has changed position from cornerback to strong safety after an impressive showing in spring training at the position. Troxel will hope that his defensive coordinator knows what he is doing as that sort of change can sometimes be dangerous.

Other than that, this defensive unit is sort of an average one given what we have had in recent years. It's good, but not as spectacular as previous seasons. A decent d-line, a great linebackers corps and a decent secondary mean it could concede points that it just hasn't leaked in the past and this could put more pressure on the offense to produce. It's a good job we don't have a completely new offensive line to worry about, isn't it? Oh wait... Quick, here's a depth chart to take the attention away from that!

Special Teams.
Coordinators: Tomas Danzig/Dan Wilkerson.

Special teams can be the difference between winning and losing games at times. 3 points can win a game when that ball splits the uprights off the kicker's boot, a long punt can make an opposing team's drive very difficult and a kick or punt return can change a game completely. The special teams unit can be very important and the one that we have under the watchful eye of Danzig and Wilkerson is actually of a fairly good quality, though it wasn't put under much pressure last season because of the exploits of the team. Though that was unexpected, but if they do come under more pressure this season it should be interesting to see how they come off.

99 Avdei Boholyubov KR/PR 5-10 202 SR

All the same as last year. Long snapper Ademej Novak is of high quality having been a centre during high school and his first year of college but moved to long snapper after a recurring shoulder injury. Grigori Komarov is the favoured kicker of the two, Maxim Ignatiev is likely to become a punter next year when he becomes a senior so it isn't necessary to have a freshman punter out on the field. Armen Kirillov is the favoured punter at the moment and his back-up Mironov isn't exactly of good quality so it's hoped that the Royals never have to fall back onto the option of using Mironov. Avdei Boholyubov is possibly the worst return man anybody in the NSCF has ever seen and the Royals fans will be glad to see the back of him and his mazy runs around his own redzone which often cause the UAD offense to have to march 80 yards just to get a score. He's real bad.

      1 2
K Grigori Komarov Maxim Ignatiev
P Armen Kirillov Roland Mironov
LS Ademej Novak
KR/PR Avdei Boholyubov

And that is the whole roster for your digestion, Royals fans!

The Royals come into this season with a strange looking squad and a real chance of going backwards in their development into one of the top and most consistent college football teams in the multiverse. Their domestic performance has set the tone for them to try and reclaim their Sequoia Conference title and they will hope they can reach the NSCF Championship game for the third time in three seasons. A tough season lies ahead of them however and the current state of the Sequoia Conference with strong outfits in the form of RMU, Netteingen Tech and Korcyka as well as a tough non-conference slate of UCLA, Scott City University and of course the old enemy of Frbiba State means this could indeed be a real tough prospect for this team. Especially with a lot of new players. We can only say one thing:

"Go you Royals, go!"

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY AT MARDI
THE MARILLS

THE INSTITUTION
Built at 1975, the National University of Mardi was the first order of then-president Demetrius Ferreira, originally was named the University of Ferreira. After Ferreira commited suicide in a horrible manner, a double murder-suicide, the University decided to change its name to Mardi University and then, after impressing the nation with its strong technology center, the University became named the National University at Mardi. Nowadays, the University got itself bigger, creating two smaller affiliated universities, the National University of St. John and the National University of Lavander.

SPORTS
A reference in Northern Sunrise Islands as of late, the Marills did not follow most "national" things of Northern Sunrise Islands and did not change their name to fit the Eevee and Eevolutions family, even going as far to launch a QuickBird campaign "#ProudFairyType" to prove their decision. After being two-time champions of the Equinox Conference, the Marills were strongly upset at having to move from the Conference due to its end, but now look forward to this fresh challenge.

UNIVERSITY

Bishop's University is an undergraduate and graduate university in Lennoxville, Estrie, Quebec. It is one of Estrie's 2 universities and the only one that teach primarily in the English language. Established in 1843 as the Bishop's College, the school remained under the Anglican church's direction from its founding until 1947. Since that time, the university has been a non-denominational institution, serving the needs of Quebecois of all backgrounds.

The students benefit from having small classes(the average class size is 16 per class), leadership and extracurricular opportunities, as well as plentiful funding and the high quality of its courses and researches. Its professors are considered as among the best in the nation and the World, and are willing to help the students if needed.

The University is located in Lennoxville, an English neighbourhood in the City of Sherbrooke, the provincial capital of 265,000 in Estrie. The university campus is slightly far away from the Downtown and Railway station, but bus connections are readily available from all parts of the city. There is no airport nearby the city and the opponents would have to take bus or QNR train service from Montreal or Quebec City, nearest cities with world-class airports. The Campus, which is about 850 acres, is very large with many impressive buildings on the site(with some dating back to 1843). It is very much recommended to look at those historic buildings that are built in Neo-Gothic style. Students usually reside in dormitories for their entire years, though some students in senior years move out and live nearby.

HARTLAND REGIMBAULT STADIUM

Image

The home stadium of St. Croix Bleu et Blanc is the Hartland Kimberley Regimbault Memorial Stadium. It is a very modern stadium with all the amenities that a modern football stadium needs. Its capacity of 18,250 spectators makes it the smallest in terms of capacity for both QIS Football and NSCF. Still, the atmosphere is superb and fans are among the most knowledgeable in the nation and probably the World.

The tickets for the home games are very hard to get for the away fans due to several reasons. Firstly, the University and other ticket sites have this policy of selling tickets to opponent fans with twice the cost that a fan or student would pay. Secondly, the city is very much a college town and is sports-obsessed one indeed. While Sherbrooke is a very small city by Quebecois standards with only 265,000 people in the area, it is the provincial capital of Estrie, the province well-known as cottage province, as well as sports mecca of Quebec. Lastly, all full-time students of Bishop's University are free to watch all Gaitors' home games. This, in addition to the high GDPs most Quebecois have and the high proportion of university students and alumni, allowed the seats to be almost always occupied by home fans, University students and locals.

The stadium was named after Hartland Kimberley Regimbault, a key figure of the University. He was born in 1930 under the legendary composer Sir. Charles Merton Regimbault and Darcy Wood. His ties with Bishop's started back when he started his secondary education on Bishop's College School before entering the University. On 1946-1949, he led the Bishop's University Gaiters into its four consecutive RSECQ Titles, as well as 2 consecutive Cartier Shields(1948-1949). After 9-season career with Sherbrooke Rams in QFL, he served under the University as the economics professor for 25 years and 15 years as the President.
After his death in 2003, the will endowed the University $5 Million to build a new stadium. At the time of his death, the old Rogers Field was in horrible state and a construction of a new stadium was needed.
With the financing from the Regimbaults under the will, the University's Department of Architecture, led by Prof.Louisa Larsson, built the stadium in 4 months(March-June 2005), the shortest time in 45 years to build a stadium. It was opened in the 9th of October with the Knights' season opener against Universite du Saguenay, which it won in 17-14 victory.

Just going to give this a bump to get it back on the front page as we come closer to our proposed start date - as suggested in the Discussion Thread. If you haven't already, it'd be a good idea to get your roster up and role-play for the opening games.

The Gator: Your Newspaper for Bishop's University

New Prospects: Bishop's University(1)
9.16.2013
Edwin Baumgartner

The Bishop's University Gaiters Football Team, who experienced graduation of more than half of their squad, had to fill their roster with Sophomores and Freshmen, as well as remaining Juniors and Seniors back from last season. With the coaching of effective and powerful William "Bob" Coulter, they are expected to make huge splashes on both QIS and NSCF this season. So, in order to introduce these prospects, I'll be writing a series of 4 articles, introducing the University's young prospects who will be the principal anchor for the team for years to come.
For the first part of the 4-article series, I'll be featuring the Gaiters' the top 2 rookies: William Ankwinijuk and Dale Turgeron.

William Ankwinijuk

Image

Born: 12.16.1993
High School: Kattawapiskak River High School, Attawapiskat, Northwest
Position: Quarterback
Major(s): Business Studies, Environmental Science

Background Information: He is also known as the second son of Lorne Ankwinijuk, famous Cree mining magnate. Before joining the University, he played in Attawapiskat, where he was a star quarterback in Kattawapiskak River High School. After leading the Kattawapiskak Kîhkwahâkêws(Wolverines) to the 2 consecutive (Northwest) Provincial Championships, he was touted as the not-to-miss prospect. At least 8 universities offered him and he chose Bishop's, where his father(Class of '85) studied business and resources management. He was redshirted last season, but will be expected to start as the Gaiters' First-string Quarterback.

Pros: Very effective passer, with tremendous accuracy. His passing percentage back in his Senior year at high school was 79.8%, 2nd highest in the nation behind now-Bleu et Blanc Sang Hak Lee. In addition, his IQ of the game is well above the average, improving his play by a lot.

Cons: He needs to find some confidence in his play. William tends to perform lot poorer when nervous or experience sudden down in mentality. In addition, he needs to improve in running aspect, which he is quite poor at. If addressed with those issues off-season, he will be a very good QB for years to come.

Dale Turgeron

Image

Born: 12.4.1994. St.Stefan-par-Riviere-Lochard,Gaspecie
High School: Marc Belliveau Secondary School, St.Stefan, Gaspecie
Position: Defensive Tackle
Major(s): Life Sciences and Chemistry

Background Information: Dale was one of 9 Freshmen that directly entered the Gaiters without spending a year as a redshirt. This was because most of the starters from last year's RSECQ Finalists have graduated to the pro ranks or moved on to their careers post-university. The position of Defensive Tackle was of no exception, as it saw 3 out of 4 players in the position graduate, leaving Jeffrey Bassett-Laurent as the only player from last year's squad in Defensive tackle.
That being said, the acquisition of this talented, bulky(6'9", 330 pounds) athlete was a very good one, and considering all his pros, he is very much likely to lead the team in defense in his first season as a Gaiter.

Pros: Great at using his body and strength to tackle and crunch the opponent players, which made him a very fearful player back in high school. Despite his size, he is very quick and uses his speed very well. That makes him a particular standout among DTs. Combination of his toughness, body and skills will make him a great player for years to come if his level of development continues.

Cons: None at this moment. His play seemed to be mostly perfect back in high school level. It is just a matter of how he elevates his play into the next step at the intercollegiate level.

  • NSCF Woodlands Conference Championship x 5

The Tigers enter their eighth season of international collegiate gridiron for the first time without the legendary Mike Zampese. The much-loved Fourgian coach has resisted the call of coaching the national side to remain with his Tigers, and last season's heartbreaking semi-final defeat to Alzburg-Dyka was ultimately his final game in charge of the Tubrissians.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Utica, and I couldn't have asked for a better career. We reached the magic number -- twice -- to put the Tigers where they belong, above the Steel Wolves. We were the best college gridiron program in the multiverse. Twice. And no amount of defeats after the fact will ever change that. We have produced several players who have gone on to be considered world class professionals. And I have been here for all of that. I have coached so many great players. I have worked with so many great coaches. It has been an honour to rule the jungle with you all."
- Utica Tigers head coach Mike Zampese, at his retirement dinner

Replacing the great man was never going to be easy, but his right hand man at Utica for the past thirteen years, Daniel Corsey, was offered the job. Corsey, to his credit, did not let his old mentor down. Operating with Benji Blokhin under center, and a two tight end set heavily featuring sophomore Kraian duo Wekey and Selassie, the Tigers rampaged to a dominant Tubrissian Division Championship, winning all eleven of their games for the first time since they wrestled the record for OCGL Championship victories from the claws of Kyoshiku's Steel Wolves. Back then, "the Cartagena Kid" Luke Saint called the shots as a precocious sophomore.

Corsey's love of the west coast offence, and a perfectly refined short game was surprisingly continued by his successor, the former Special Teams coach Andrew Glock. Glock's creative play calling, Corsey's overall game management, and Defensive Co-Ordinator Anthony Channa's hard-nosed defensive unit saw the Tigers all the way through to the OCGL Championship game for a record sixteenth time. Mytanar quarterback Benji Blokhin's dive at the line late in the fourth secured the game-winning points for the Tigers, as they overcame a strong Burningham side to extend their OCGL Championships record to twelve wins.

Among those in the squad on that run were several highly rated freshmen, who Zampese had identified as "Tiger-calibre". Most notable among the names were Manu Solomon and Derrick Fuller, key components of a Warton Manor High team that were crowned national champions last season. Solomon slotted perfectly into what is surely one of the deepest defensive end rotations in all of college football, picking up two sacks in OGCL play. Derrick Fuller had perhaps the even more daunting task of proving himself worthy of targets among a receiving corps containing the athletic freaks Nicholas Gordon and Ilya Izmailov. He and fellow rookie Lewis Aneke impressed Glock, but will not be expecting expanded roles in the offense in NSCF just yet.

If there are holes in the Tigers roster, they are the lack of certain intangibles. Losing defensive captain Ramon Carthy is a huge blow to the unit as a whole, as his leadership will not be easily replicated. The team's performances in OCGL betrayed hints of a leadership vacuum at times, and the greater level of competition at international level will almost certainly expose this at times. It's also difficult to replace a player like Leon Calk. In recent years, the Tigers have always had at least one shutdown corner. First they had Rigo, then Hi'ro. Leon Calk was their last. There is no standout cornerback to replace him this season. This is no slight on the remaining defensive backs, as they are talented -- particularly Calk's "replacement" Cesar Martinez; not to be confused with the tight end with the same name -- but there isn't the same fear factor from these guys. A quarterback coming up against Calk (or one of his predecessors) would be understandably wary. That same caution in the passing game didn't exist in OCGL this season, and while the Tigers' secondary was still one of the strongest in the league, it seemed to be missing something.

On the upside, several sophomores have matured incredibly quickly and have stepped into regular rotation in the Tigers' defense. Hanzl, Karson and Thunder in particular look like they will provide a service difficult to distinguish from the names ahead of them on the depth chart. The Tigers' defensive line is built for pressure, and the beast that is Timo Rubaseki has terrorised OCGL quarterbacks this season, tearing through even the best offensive lines like a hot knife through butter at times. If he and Hannibal Bakheeri can replicate their devastating one-two combination on a regular basis -- which might not be too difficult when lining up alongside the space-eating monster that is Willibrordus de Koster -- the Woodlands Conference in NSCF might have a very big, very angry problem to deal with.

The big surprise recruit for the Tigers was Isaac Sawyer. The "undersized" runningback was seen as a big risk for Utica, who compete in a very physical conference in NSCF, and a division known for it's terrifying defensive linemen in OCGL. The little guy has managed to make a major impact for the Tubrissians, however. Offensive Co-Ordinator Andrew Glock uses him sparingly on third downs, but his former assistant -- and new Special Teams Co-Ordinator -- Kenny Hollis loves Sawyer's elusiveness on returns. With incumbent returns specialist Drake Turnbull in his final year, Sawyer's arrival couldn't have been timed better. The 5' 7", 184 lbs runningback from Resheph Glory High in Renneville has already amassed a remarkable return average of 42 yards on kickoffs, and three punts returned for touchdowns. Who says football is a big man's game?

This season, the Tigers' original rivals, the University of Arkinesia Wyverns, are conspicuous by their absence. There will still be the rivalry game with the Firebirds, who finally picked up a win in The Pit last season, much to the chagrin of the Tigers, but you'd be forgiven for thinking that the road to a sixth Woodlands conference championship seems a little less bumpy this time around.

Corsey will not have any illusions about the strength of the conference, however, despite the apparent decline overall in the past couple of seasons. He has also arranged a difficult non-conference schedule for the Tigers, who will test themselves against reigning Sequoia conference champions Riversburg-Madison University, as well as the University of Concord Heights, a tough outfit from the formidable nation of Cassadaigua.

"We're brimming with confidence after our excellent OCGL season, but that championship game reminded us just how hard it can be. The guys went out and fought with everything they had, and it took every last drop of internal fortitude to come out of there as winners. As champions." New head coach Daniel Corsey told us. "There is absolutely no way these guys will give anything less than 100% in every game. They know what's expected of them, and they will deliver. They're too proud not to."
