36th Baptism Of Fire - Nethertopia & Krytenia

“People always say that the first steps are the most difficult ones. The first time that humans try something is always the most difficult. The same goes, without question, for football. The first international tournament you play is the one you'll remember for the rest of your life. The smell of grass in unknown stadiums, crowds cheering for you on foreign grounds, winning matches against opponents from different nations. Pride fills your heart, and you give your nation honour in winning. Ah, how I remember our Baptism of Fire...
This tournament is the first step towards glory, towards a march to the World Cup. Victory and loss lie close. But let's all remember what this Baptism of Fire is really for, the enjoyment of seeing two nations playing football against each other. Let's make this all a noteworthy cup. I hereby welcome all the entrants to Krytenia and Nethertopia, and proudly open the thirty-sixth instalment of the Baptism of Fire!”

~ Rob Kietecs, ex-manager of the Nethertopian national football team

The set-up of the tournament:
The KFA and NeFA have decided that the 48 entrants of this BoF are to be split up in eight groups of six. Each nation will face each other once during the group stage, and four out of the six teams will advance to the knock-out rounds. This will leave 32 nations in the run for the cup, in a one match knock-out system.
This Baptism of Fire (BoF) is split into two parts: The Krytenian section and the Nethertopian section. This is the case in both the group stage and the knock-out rounds. Krytenia will host the third place playoff and the final will be in Nethertopia.
The tournament will start Monday next week. After the 5 group matchdays are played, there will be a two day weekend break, after which the tournament will resume the next Monday with the knock-out round.

Role play? Rosters?
It's a habit for nations that participate in a football (or soccer) tournament in Nation States to post a roster (or squad list) that contains information about the team's players. This can be as detailed as you like, or maybe it's just a name of positions with names attached to them. It's OK to not post a roster, of course, but making and posting one gives you role play (RP) points.
RP points are points that are awarded to teams who make RPs about the matches that are played, or other events that take place during the tournament. The scores for matches are generated through a Scorinator. This program allows hosts to 'calculate' a match' score through a ranking, RP points and a portion of luck.
There is a maximum of RP points that a nation can earn per match day. RP points increase the chance that your nation will win a match, but it's not a guarantee that you will win from an opponent that has RPed less than you, or hasn't even RPed at all. Some people RP their nation in another way than others, that's where the RP permission box comes in.

In the event my opponent posts an RP first, they may:

Select my scorers Y/N
Give out yellow cards to my players Y/N
Give out red cards to my players Y/N
RP injuries to my players Y/N
Godmod injuries Y/N
Godmod scoring events Y/N
Godmod other events Y/N

(Select the one that's appropriate. In sports roleplaying, 'godmodding' refers to anything impossible or at least ridiculously unlikely in reality, and is perfectly acceptable in sports roleplaying especially if used for comedy - this is because you cannot change the results, only RP around them. See also this link.)

Style modifiers
The last issue that needs some attention is the style modifier. A style modifier indicates how your team approaches a match, in an attacking way, or playing a defensive game. A positive number indicates a team takes on an attacking approach, while negative represents a defensive side. The style modifiers can range between 3 and -3.

Continued from the Nakiti Robotics & Axx Software Opportunity Cup.

...it turned out later that [Tobias de la Vallerie, the team captain] had left the hotel, traveled to the airport, and took the first plane back to Regium. Matthew [Brabantine] served as the temporary captain for the playoff game against Sargossa. He's a nice guy, but not captain material Later, the official report was that Tobias had been proud for the opportunity but wanted to focus on his responsibilities to the regime, and had received a posting with the Magister Militum. I thought it was a very good cover-up...

...one of our teammates, I'm not sure who, interrupted [John 't Serclaes and Matthew Brabantine, roommates for the Opportunity Cup's] talk. The coaches wanted to meet with me, so I was to go to their room upstairs.

Matthew gave me a quizzical look, like I knew something he didn't. I honestly didn't have a clue. "They're probably going to give me hell for my penalty kick."

"They're right too, y'know," he responded with a glint in his eye. "I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to just kick it at the goalkeeper. Could be wrong though."

I jokingly tossed a pillow at him, which he caught with a laugh. "See! That's not what you're supposed to do!" All I could do is roll my eyes at his crack and head upstairs.

For some reason, the room was dark, except for a light turned on at the desk and a muted television. Coach [Æthelhelm] Heusaff was at the desk, Coach [Peter] Debeauvais was lying on one of the beds, still in his shoes, and Coach [Titus] Jeusset was at the window, looking over the South Queer Poco skyline. Without me saying anything, Coach Heusaff stated "Come the Baptism of Fire, you're be our captain, paired up with Maxentius [Hersart de la Villemarqué]."

I was taken aback. "Sir?"

Coach Debeauvais chimed in. "After Tobias was sent off against Antarctistan, you led the team to victory. It's obvious you have the temperament for it and the capacity to inspire the team." I noticed he had his eyes the entire time closed. This started smelling like something they had rehearsed.

I was still quiet for a bit, and then Coach Jeusset added his two cents. "Matthew will come off the bench like you did for him. He's a good guy, he'll understand why this needs to be done. To be successful at a international level, we need your leadership to make it." So this is what this was, they were worried about my loyalty to Matthew. I was surprised when I realized how little I had.

"I understand, of course. Thank you, I'm grateful for the opportunity."

Everyone in the room, who had been very determinedly not looking at me, gave a surprised turn of the head. However, they very professionally had only turned a little bit. They all were still looking at me from the corner of their eyes.

...The right thing to have felt was some bit of shame, but I simply didn't. I was thrilled for the opportunity, friendship be damned. My uncle would have been proud, tossing a comrade aside to get ahead. The regime had taught me well. As I walked back into the room, Matthew looked up from his half-packed suitcase. "So what did they want?"

I lied. "You were right. It was about the shot. They suggested that if I'm going to kick it at the goalkeeper I should at least drill him in the face, like this." I picked up the other pillow on my bed and went as if I was going to hurl it at him. He was surprised enough to fall backwards on the floor.

I proceeded it to toss it over where his head had been. "Or I should just kick it over his head," I said. Matthew couldn't help but laugh, and I joined in. I didn't even give a thought to telling him about the change, or to think about how he would feel betrayed. It was his right though, since I was betraying him...

The Republic of Balida has chosen an alternative 4-4-2 formation for the Baptism of Fire.

Here is the Roster:

The bold and underlined players are the two highest payed players in the Balida Football League.

Thomas Barlett played for Mil Rovers when he was 14 and recently moved to FC Ribth this year. His ball control is praised around the nation, while many complain about his bad attitude and heavy fouling.

Reyes(Carlo Barella Resento) has been the star of FC Ribth since the start of the league. Reyes is known for good ball control and amazing shot power. He has never had a free kick not go in the back of the net. This kid has a deadly shot.

Here are the home/away uniforms for The Republic of Balida's International Team:

Information about Nethertopia's venues

Group E
Briangia, Peregrinus City
Image

Capacity: 75,384

Briangia has been the largest stadium of Nethertopia ever since it was built, a little over eight years ago (before WC45). The original purpose of the stadium was to compete in TQCC bids, but the stadium has since been the home of the Nethertopian national football team and has even hosted the final of the Copa Rushmori.

Bluewater Road, Halfalyr
Image

Capacity: 26,650

While no actual professional football club plays in Lake Rushmore any more, the stadium is still in full use. Rugby and Gridiron are frequently played in it. The modern, round design of the roof is the source for the nickname of the stadium, which is Pearl of Rushmore.

Vissersplaats, Udenbergen
Image

Capacity: 22,684

Visserplaats, Dutch for Fishermen's Place, was the first stadium to ever be built in Nethertopia. It Started as a seater suited for 5,000 men, but now has four times the capacity of that. It's noted for it's main stand, which has an odd, roundish shaped roof.

Group F
Falcon Stadium, Peregrinus City
Image

Capacity: 51,300

Falcon Stadium might not be the biggest, or best stadium in Nethertopia, but it hosts the team with the most prizes in domestic football. NAPPC can claim on historic bases that they're the best team of Nethertopia, but recently Tenderville United has been doing a lot better in the CMSC. Even the stadium has a large history of down- and upgrades of the amount of seats, having reached from 40,000 to 90,000.

DePardenti Arena, DePardenti
Image

Capacity: 37,700

The originally named FC Depardenti are normally playing in this stadium. The team had better days in their history of football, and are underachievers. The same goes out for this stadium, which can give supporters a slight, odd, feeling of claustrophobia. The club has been trying to replace the stadium and campaigned for a new one before the BoF, but to no avail: The government thought that the expansion of the Home of the Dragon was enough to fur fill the tournament's requirements.

The White Peak, Mignon
Image

Capacity: 31,140

Situated on 500m above sea level and quite close to the top of Mount Anatom is the Stadium of the Grey Towers: The White Peak. The stadium lies just outside Mignon and walking from the city towards the stadium reveals breathtaking views of the mountain. This stadium is regarded to have the best atmosphere during matches.

Group G
Home of the Dragon, Tenderville
Image

Capacity: 75,189

The Home of the Dragon is widely regarded as Nethertopia's most beautiful stadium. It's home to Nethertopia's best club football team, Tenderville United. The stadium has been upgraded for this tournament, with over 30,000 extra seats added. It's also the stadium in which the final is to be played.

Ashdom Park, Ashdom
Image

Capacity: 39,100

Ashdom Park is a shiny new stadium, created specially for this BoF. Ashdom City will start to play in this stadium after the tournament, and the actual opening game of the Nethertopian side of the tournament will be played here.

RIS Park, Tenderville
Image

Capacity: 23,500

Ratos Island Seaside has always been the smaller brother of Tenderville United, and the same can be said about the stadium. While it's still a nice venue, it doesn't have the grandeur or status of the Home of the Dragon. Many RIS fans envy TdvUtd and see them as their main rival.
The Castle, Stoedt

Group H
The Castle
Image

Capacity: 55,360

Stoedt is the biggest city in Nethertopia and it's stadium is one of the most impressive in the country. The bright colouring has been added on purpose: It apparently keeps the grass in better shape. The stadium is normally occupied by fans of SVV Stoedt.

Eastside Grove, Groot Ran
Image

Capacity: 26,139

The roomy, light Eastside Grove is the only stadium that can cause a debate regarding the nicest stadium in Nethertopia. The pole construction is architectural eye-candy, but impracticable for the visiting fans. It's the home of VVV Ran.

Stadium of the Ages, Gretor
Image

Capacity: 20,404

The smallest venue of the tournament is the Stadium of the Ages, home of Sargossan-owned Sportivo Gretor. The small stadium is one of the older places that hosts a regular football match. While it doesn't have a large capacity, the stadium has the most exquisite VIP area's in the nation.

Postby Wajirka » Wed Nov 11, 2009 9:34 pm

A stiff breeze was blowing through Wajirka that day. A town of 4,392 on the coast, it was exceptionally sleepy for a sunday afternoon, and most of the kids knew it. A few trucks puttered through town, picking things up to run back to the surrounding farms, mostly growing wheat, with a few dairy cows puttering around.

All in all, a deeply, deeply boring place.

And, even worse, everyone knew it.

In particular, Keith Robbins knew it.

Sitting on the bleachers at the high school generic sports field (Soccer, Two Rugbies, Cricket, Field Hockey, and two or three local sports on top of that, not to mention gym classes), he blew a few strands of hair out of his eyes, legs up on the bench in front of him. A year removed from the city for his senior year in high school, now that he had graduated there wasn't much in the way of careers to pursue in the middle of nowhere, unless you wanted to be a farmer. And while that seemed allright for a number of other kids in school, he really had no desire. And despite the skill he had in leading his high school soccer team to district finals, all it had earned him was a part time contract with the local non-league club, and while they were shopping him around to larger clubs, no one had bit yet, so in the meantime, the part-time pay he made playing soccer was enough to match the part-time pay from the local grocery store, and the apartment above the garage at his dad's house was enough to where he could sneak his girlfriend in without anyone noticing.

"Roooooooobbbbins! What are you doing up there?"

Speaking of girlfriends.

"Contemplating the probability that a Bostopian missile silo is out in that field there."

Emilia Kimiya was possibly the only person in the same boat as him, although only another 7000 miles distant or so. And, as Keith thought, that gave her that kind of foriegn/exotic beauty, but that's hardly something that has to do with a roleplay about football. "Well, Bostopia is notable for it's massive lack of sanity, so I think you're wrong. They probably built it under the school."

"That's true."

"Okay, you're out of it more than usual. What's wrong?"

Keith let out a bit of a sigh. "Eh... nothing."

"Oh, you're just sulking about your lot in life. Being in a town that they routinely forget to actually put on maps of the country, stuck working in a grocery store."

"Well, there is that."

"Well, you're a shoein for the manager job, if that helps."

"... That kinda does the opposite, but it's good to know."

Em shrugged. "Well, maybe you just need to take things into your own hands a little more. It's time for my shift at Burger Time." She said, checking her watch. "I'll see you after?"

"Aye, I'll stop by later."

"Good. Don't throw yourself off the bleachers. Mike would have to clean up the mess."

---

"Home late again?" Sgt. Robbins said. Being a recruiter for the army, he also possessed an uncanny habit of bringing his work home, something Keith did not get excited about.

"I was meeting up with Em, we hung out a bit."

"Yeah... I see. How's the grocery store?"

"Full of food." Keith replied quickly, grabbing an apple and dodging out the back door, sticking it in his mouth as he climbed the steps and unlocked the small apartment above the garage. Flopping onto the couch, he looked at the tv, digging the remote out from underneath him and flipping it on.

-Now, for sports. The International Association Football community is getting excited over the impending World Cup. Tryouts are taking place for the national team. Open tryouts are coming up as well, starting in the northwest of the country..."

---

"Oh, what do they know, Keith. They're picking all the people with professional experience anyway, at least you made the first cut." Em said, doing her best to comfort as Keith stalked around town, still wearing his cleats and seething quietly.

"Mmhmm, so they acknowledged that I wasn't an inept, overweight, 40 year old. That's a wonderful skill level to go beyond."

"You just can't take it that hard. Short of forming your own national team and trying to fake it, you're not going to somehow get into the world cup."

"Eh... well, I suppose your right."

---

"No, Mike, move the table onto the track farther." Keith said, motioning with the open book he was reading.

"Ooooh, okay. Where are you hanging the banner?"

"Ummmmm... the fence outside should be good."

Mike nodded, carrying it out around the corner of the stands at the Wajirka City stadium, where he was confronted with a lot of girl yelling. Keith instictively froze with fear, biting his lip.

"Keith Robbins, what the HELL are you doing?"

"Um... well... the club said it might be good publicity... and we just kind of edited the wikipedia page to make ourselves a country as opposed to a town... after all, they forgot to put us on the map, would they really miss us?"

Em made a highly annoyed noise and covered her face with her hands. "This is stupid, stupid, so stupid..."

"You can leave if you want."

"No, you're too stupid to handle this much stupid yourself."

ST. CATHERINE, South Magootz -- The Barnettsville soccer team was sent off to Krytenia/Nethertopia with a rousing pep rally as they traveled to participate in the Baptism of Fire XXXVI, the prelude to World Cup IXL. The team will be lead by head coach Jacob Kennedy who guided the team to a 1-1-1 record in the Olympics. It was announced that the Baptism and Cup runs will be spomsored by EagleStates Bank, and the team will wear maroon and silver uniforms. The starters remain unchanged from that Olympic squad:

GK 1 Kyle Norris
CB 2 DJ Hall
SW 3 Tommy Hicks
FB 4 Robert Westbrook
CM 5 Derek Brown
DM 6 Troy Snelling
RW 7 Jonathan Bell (who will also be the primary captain)
LW 8 Victor Bennett
CF 9 Keith Pittman
alternate captain ST 10 Tim Strong, and AM 11 Tony Bryant. The backups are headlined by GK 17 Brian Larson, who played in the waning minutes of their lone loss in the Olympiad. Other alternates are:
M 12 Ernie Williams
M 13 Chris Longwell
F 14 Marcus Harrison
F 15 Leonard Scobee and W 16 Kenneth Wilson.

Barring unforseen issues, this will also be the lineup in Newmanistan and The Babbage Islands.

"Argh! Shiver me timbers!"

Words such as those punctuated the fitful sleep of the 23 men who made up the squad being sent to represent the United Kingdom of Callidon at the World Cup.

Eighteen players struggled to find room to sleep or keep their belongs, never mind train during the six weeks it took to travel to their match site.

For Callidon's intrepid players, trainers and managers, the road to their inaugural appearance in the World Cup was especially arduous. It wasn't just the fact that very few teams qualified for the finals in their first go. Their challenge was exacerbated by the fact that everything they did was primitive by football standards. It had to be. The only technology they knew was ships dependent upon the whims of the wind. Horses with sacks of mail clop-clop-clopped along the countryside.

Kenneth Considine had to wonder what he was getting himself into. As the manager of this motley collection of players, most of whom only graduated from the equivalent of high school, none of whom had more than 23 years of life behind him, he knew the odds would be long. He'd heard rumors about advanced training programs, modern techniques for supplementing players' nutrition, and the like.

He dipped a feather into the small bottle twice, thrice, four times. Finally, he lifted it tentatively and set it to the parchment he'd carried. He would have to declare what organisers called a roster with breakdowns of who played which positions so people would have some clue what Callidon had or didn't have.

Permissions:
If you RP first, you MAY
Choose my goalscorers
Issue yellow cards or red cards
Injure my players
Godmode events such as sleepness nights or hellacious rain. If you RP one of my players raping and pillaging the town, Considine deciding to start his starting forward in goal, etc., make me laugh! Just bear in mind in case you haven't been following my RPs here that Callidon is very much past-tech. Think circa 1810. So seeing my players texting or calling people on their mobile phones will get you a gentle reminder not to do that again.

Coach: Kenneth Considine, 47. Herefordshire F.C.
The manager of the team that won the inaugural national championship of Callidon, Considine is pulling double duty as best he can given the circumstances. Fortunately for him, the country's football association will not resume until after Callidon's international football run has finished.
Assistant: Jonah Wilcomb, 55, Royal Callidon
Wilcomb served as manager of the side that lost the final in Callidon's inaugural season. He brings defensive expertise to contrast with Considine's offensive exploits.
Goalkeepers Coach: Ed Fleetwood, 59, Herefordshire F.C.
Guided his team's goalkeepers to the league's best goals conceded per match average. He is known as a patient teacher.
Trainer: Luke Bradley, 42, Royal Callidon
Responsible for keeping his lads fresh for matches, but uses [RL 19th century] medical equipment.

GK 1 Noah Peters, 23, Herefordshire F.C. 6-foot-1, 175 pounds.
Peters has catlike reflexes, but little experience playing angles or guiding a defense.
D 2 George Wenders, 18, Royal Callidon 5-foot-11, 180 pounds.
Rugged defender who plays bigger than his height. In the Callidon national league's inaugural season, he played only 16 of the league's 20 matches due to injuries.
D 3 Trey Dickson, 23, S.C. Hanover 6-foot, 190 pounds. Captain.
The most experienced player on this squad, Dickson played four years in amateur leagues. He has a decent feel for the game, but would be a reserve on most national teams.
4 D Joseph Mathers, 19, Harrisonburg Blues. 5-foot-10, 170 pounds.
Mathers played for the first time since his youth footballing days. Has much to learn about the game, but has the best speed on the team.
5 D Patrick Connors, 17, Dunsinane Dragons. 6-foot-2, 215 pounds.
A rugged defender. Sometimes too aggressive. If a referee is going to book any Callidon player, it's this guy.
6 M Michael Donaldson, 20, Birnam Wood. 5-foot-8, 155 pounds.
A gritty defensive midfielder, often expected to mark the opponent's playmaking midfielder or top scoring forward.
7 D Will Fredericks, 18, Dunsinane, 6-foot-1, 180 pounds.
Fredericks is his team's best defensive player as far as technique is concerned. Speed is a challenge for this lanky right-booted player.
8 D John Calvert, 21, Sporting Britton Cove, 5-foot-9, 160 pounds.
All heart and brain, no brawn or speed. Sums it all up for Calvert.
9 M Reginald Taylor, 22, Brightonburg Castles, 5-foot-11, 170 pounds.
A left-booted player with a dangerous shot, but can get caught napping on defence.
10 M Christopher Wesley, 23, Birnam Wood F.C., 5-foot-6, 130 pounds.
A great distributor of the ball who takes most free kicks and handles most of the corners, Wesley struggles with penalties.
11 M Frank Smith, 21, Kingford S.C., 6-foot-2, 205 pounds.
Right-booted player who can play either wing or serve as backup playmaker, but whose defense leaves much to be desired.
12 M Michael Archer, 22, Argus S.C., 6-foot-3, 210 pounds.
Provides a physical presence in midfield when selected, but has problems with his touch.
14 Timothy Devine, 23, Piedmont F.C., 5-foot-11, 155 pounds.
Strong touch from the right side, but especially deadly when called upon to take penalties.
15 F Colin Gregory, 22, Argus S.C., 6-foot-4, 215 pounds.
Specializes in headers off corner kicks and other highly phyical ways to score. Touch is not his strong suit.
16 F Martin Chambers, 21, Brightonburg, 5-foot-11, 175 pounds.
The flashier of the two starting forwards, he can also serve as playmaking midfielder if the formation calls for it.
17 F Paul Issacs, 20, Royal Callidon, 6-foot, 200 pounds.
The best combination of physical play and athleticism, he'll eventually earn a spot as a starter with the Clippers.
18 GK Kurt Wonders, 22, Sporting Britton Cove, 5-foot-9, 165 pounds.
Flamboyant keeper. occasionally known for straying rather far from his goalline in an effort to start the play.
19 F Ed Norman, 21, Piedmont F.C., 5-foot-11, 160 pounds.
Easily jostled out of position, he is known more for accuracy than hardness of shot.
20 GK Devin Patrick, 16, no team, 5-foot-9, 145 pounds.
Known more for how much food he can put away and stay thin than he is for his football knowledge, but is an all star for his secondary school.

In the name of the Archbishop-General of the Province of Canaã Ocidental
We announce the names of the 23 players that compose our football team
Good luck for the ones carrying the name of our nation

(Iglesias, CO) - basic info: The country of Canaã Ocidental is very small, with poor economy and mostly rural. Its people are devoted to the Catholic faith, at least most of them, due to the government. The leader of the country is the Archbishop-General, the new one being Damasco Verón, who took the place of the one before him months ago. The government is a military dictatorship, with the military taking control of the nation after a coup with the assistance of the church, under the deal that the church and military would alternate as leader of the country, although the leader will be always recognized as Archbishop-General. There is a lot of repression, especially against communists and infidels. There isn't much passion for sport in the country, but they believe this team can do well. All players are loyal to the dictatorship, the military and the church. If they weren't, they probably would face severe consequences for being traitors.

Manager: Bishop Gastón Hernández (58) - very orthodox in tactics
Assistant: Colonel Marco Villa (60) - very orthodox with discipline

Goalkeepers

1- Alfredo Latorre (Leones del Capital) - 28 years old, serious and tall
12- Horacio Pellegrino (Cruz Santa) - 33 years old, experienced and humble
22- Christian Lopez (La Revolución) - 20 years old, eccentric and talented

Defenders

2- Francisco Pandolfi (Universidad) - 23 years old, fast and good crosser
3- Diego Mendoza (La Revolución) - 35 years old, team captain and respected star player

Cylian International Times

Football Frenzy Sweeps the Nation

The Most Cylindrical Empire of Cylios is set to take part in its first international sports tournament since the coming of The Great Cylinder, much to the delight of the extremely bored population. Football, or Foot Sphere Beating as it is known commonly throughout the empire has quickly taken its place as the most popular sport in our humble nation, as the ban on sports requiring spheres was lifted two years ago, which is reflected by the fact that even the Emperors brother, Wences Ópérstack is playing in the national league, and is considered the best playmaker in all of Cylios. The national league of Cylios is called the Emperor Cylman Ópérstack Premier Division, though it is more usually called the ECÓ League is composed of 15 teams, and the previous champions were FC Mesca-Cyl and Pinord United. The ECÓ League is mainly composed of Cylian players so the average citizen of Cylios is not really sure how good the players are in comparison to foreign players.

The Sports Ban

Due to the laws of our religion, Cylindism, this is out first time to play in any tournament internationally. According to our holy books, The 5 Cylomes, spheres are all to be condemned, as there is only one true shape: Cylinders. The source of this ban is in the second book, Law of Cylinder, which goes as follows: "And as he looked upon his imperfect creations, The Great Cylinder felt a great new feeling: love, though He realised that they may not return his feelings. He believed the evil of the false shapes may corrupt the weak-minded creations, so he declared that none may touch the false shapes as their evil poisons the purity of the mind, unless in punishment.". It was not understood until recently what He meant by "in punishment" until recently. It means that the only occasion in which spheres, or any other of the evil shapes, may be touched, is when they are being punished for being impure. This can be interpreted as kicking a sphere, which is the reason for the lifting of the sports ban.

Cylios has decided to play a 4-3-3 formation for their first The Baptism of Fire. Red is first team.Blue is Captain. GK-Goalkeeper, RB-Right Back, CB-Centre Back, LB- Left Back, RM-Right Midfielder, CM-Centre Midfielder, LM-Left Midfielder, RWF-Right Wing Forward, CF-Centre Forward, LWF-Left Wing Forward

Osarius Roster and Squad Details

Non-Playing Staff

Manager: Benedict di Corradi
The 37 year old former Firewood City forward still holds the Kings League record for most goals in a season. His credentials as a coach are unquestionable, as he has led clubs at various levels to trophies, and has suffered less than 10% defeats in non-sanctioned matches with the national team thus far.
He has filled the dugout with former teammates to ensure he has a strong, close-kint backroom team.

Coaches: Roberto Barzaglione, Giorgio Cassetti, Alain Montblanc

Squad Details:

Goalkeepers

#1 - Orlando Florian (Firewood City)
The 31 year old Firewood City goalkeeper is first choice for the national side, and is vice-captain. He is known for his ability to perform amazing saves in clinch situations and his impressive penalty saving record. However, he has a tendency to act erratic. He holds the distinction of being the only Osarian goalkeeper to ever score from open play. He also holds the record for most national team appearances, at 71, although none of them are official.

#12 - Albert Mariana (Burningham City)
The young goalkeeper performed heroics when he came off the bench for the final match in the Olympics, and also had a very impressive run in the Burningham City first team last season. His commanding performances and seemingly gravity defying agility have caught the attention of Benedict di Corradi.

#23 - James Davidson (Hamtown Athletic)
The oldest member of the squad and the only one based in Osarius to not be playing top flight football next season. Davidson has a reputation as one of the finest goalkeepers of his generation. However, earlier in his career, he showed signs of unreliability and was dubbed "Calamity James" by the media. As he has matured, he has managed to cut out most of these mistakes, but the doubt still lingers.

Defenders

#2 - Jay Jay Anderson (Firewood City)
The Firewood City right back is known for his offensive qualities, and loves to support the right winger going forward. His defensive qualities are average at best however, and he often struggles when faced with a quality left sided attacker. His relatively large frame also makes him a useful additional forward late in games, as he is capable of winning aerial balls and holding off several challenges.

#3 - Tay Gidds (Grasshoppers Turic)
Turic's captain, and the most admired man in the Kings League, Tay Gidds will put his head in places most players wouldnt put their boot. His daredevil style of play and endless drive often inspires his teammates. His fearlessness and speed more than compensate for his comparative lack of size (he is 5'10" and 170 lbs). He is the other vice-captain for the national side.

#4 - Jordy Chandleton (Greeningham City)
This young, attack-minded left back made history by being the youngest player ever to be included in a national side - sanctioned or non-sanctioned - when he was called up to the squad at age seventeen. Now twenty-six years old, his talents have grown, and it is only the in-form Hollybrent full back, Amir Ali, keeping him on the bench. Chandleton's pace and delivery are comparable to his rival's, and he is the better defender. However, he has retained his tendency to lunge into challenges from his younger days, a trait his manager frowns upon.

#5 - Rafael Higuain (Utica United)
Partner to Gidds in the heart of the defence, Higuain plays a withdrawn role and sweeps up whatever Gidds misses. His ball control and distribution are very good, and he often sprays passes to the wingers when counterattacking. He is the cornerstone of Utics'a defense, and an immensely important player for the national side.

#15 - Avery McFarlane (Capital AC [TBI])
Sold by his old club to raise funds to keep them out of adminstration, McFarlane managed to broker a deal to play in The Babbage Islands. He is yet to make his first appearance there, but Hamtown fans lament his sale, realising that he was probably the only good defender they had left. McFarlane's fearlessness is matched only by that of Tay Gidds.

#17 - Amir Ali (AFC Hollybrent)
The understated, underrated, diminutive fullback had his best season to date last year. His penetrative runs and clever overlapping were key to the success of a relatively young Hollybrent side. Ali's pace is blistering, and he is equally gifted with both feet, able to deliver pinpoint crosses from deep, or right on the goal-line. Defensively, his positioning is good, and he is able to shackle all but the best wingers in the Kings League.

#24 - Dean Carter (Highport Athletic)
Another up and coming centre back with a "no nonsense" attitude. Fears no-one, but has a tendency to make reckless challenges. Partnered McFarlane at the Olympics in the centre of defence.

Midfielders

#6 - Sanosuke Mitsubara (Grasshoppers Turic)
The Turic midfield general has a solid understanding with his club captain, Gidds, and the two of them often come together between the midfield and defence to nullify threats. Mitsubara also has exquisite quality from set pieces.

#7 - Jake Mooney (Utica United)
Mooney's reputation often precedes him. The lethal left winger has been pursued in the past by bigger clubs in the country, most notably Burningham City five seasons ago, and still remains with his boyhood heroes in Utica. His work ethic and desire to win are still as strong as in his teens, and although this sometimes leads to rash behaviour, it is tolerated purely because of his natural ability. To date, he is the most prolific winger in Kings League history, barring his national team manager Benedict di Corradi.

#10 - Jermain Lewis (Firewood City)
The national captain and leader of the national champions. Jermain Lewis commands respect from both teammates and opponents alike. His dominance in midfield perhaps stems from his intimidating frame (6'1" and 194lbs) and propensity for crunching, yet somehow legal, tackles. His passing range and vision are superb, and he leads the all time Kings League chart for assists.

#11 - Reuben Forrester (Firewood City)
The strong right winger is full of tricks, and lethal from set pieces. His only real weakness, however, is his relative lack of pace. For a winger, he is comparatively slow.

#16 - Fernandinho (Rapid Hearthlands)
The tricky attacking midfielder is often brought in to help unlock tricky defences at national level. He links well with Lewis and Atkinson in particular, and his jinking runs have been known to leave defenders flat on their backsides.

#18 - Benni Watson (Firewood City)
Watson's greatest strengths are his pace and set piece ability. The young right winger - who can also play on the left - has phenomenal technique striking a ball. To date, he has converted some thirty free kicks in the Kings League, and has only been known to miss one penalty. He is also credited with being the second fastest player in the league, clocking in at 11.13 seconds over 100m. However, he is not very strong on the ball, and has a weak left foot. He has also been known to lash out in frustration, earning him a poor disciplinary record.

#20 - Malachi Lubret (Trothwands Evolution)
The natural rival of Jermain Lewis. The two of them had a confrontation when their sides met at The Cauldron last season, with the opposing captains almost coming to blows. Lubret's defending is equal to Lewis' attacking, but he is as capable going forward as Lewis is coming back. They struggle to operate in the same midfield, however.

#21 - Lorenzo Ruiz (Rapid Hearthlands)
A versatile young midfielder, with a hammershot of a left foot. He likes to shoot from distance, despite perhaps possessing the necessary ability to dribble past defenders and into a better position.

Forwards

#8 - Dean Atkinson (Grasshoppers Turic)
All time top scorer for the national team, and second highest all time top scorer in the Kings League. Atkinson's clever runs and predatory instincts have made him one of the most feared strikers in Osarius. Playing off a good target man, Atkinson is almost certain to score.

#9 - Roberto Cassetti (Burningham City)
Plays in the same position as his uncle, Giorgio Cassetti, and links the play between the forwards and the midfield. His football knowledge is perhaps the highest on the team, and when the team is struggling, it is usually because he is being marked well.

#14 - Federico Avila (Charleston FC [TBI])
An experienced striker who has just been allowed to leave relegated Kart Hago to play in The Babbage Islands. Consistently scoring goals for a struggling side is no easy task, but Avila was equal to it. Last season, he finished with 22 goals, despite his club only scoring 50 in total. With a contribution like that, there is no doubting his ability to poach goals.

#19 - Stuart Deery (AFC Hollybrent)
A veritable totem pole of a forward, Deery stands above most centre backs. His aerial ability is unparalleled, and his accuracy with headers unreal. However, when the ball is on the ground, he has a tendency to resemble Bambi ice-skating.

#22 - Rene Wilson-Ouaddou (Firewood City)
Wonderkid. The Next Big Thing. Among many other superlatives bestowed upon the young former Hamtown striker, those two stand out. Wilson-Ouaddou became the most expensive teenager in Osarian football history when Firewood forked out an estimated nine million credits on him two years ago. Since then, the youngster has slowly eased his way into the champions' starting lineup, and represented his nation at the Olympics. His pace takes him beyond almost any defender, and his left foot is lethal from thirty yards. However, like his youth team captain, Benni Watson, Wilson-Ouaddou has a violent streak which often manifests itself when he is frustrated.

Albrante FC
Formation:
4-4-2
Roster:
GK-Joao Almeida
A veteran of the club leagues and the pillar of the teams largely defensive strategy.
LB-John de Souza
A player of average build and overall he is the one that is often unnoticed.
CB-Karl Ramalho
A large and intimidating player. In the club leagues he has stopped more than one goal by simply intercepting and yelling at the near by strikers.
RB-Roberto Rodgrigues
The rookie in the team, he is fresh out of his first season of the club leagues.
Sweeper- Shane Camoroon
An experienced import who holds dual citizenship. Has a lot of ball skills and holds the national record for the most "keep ups"
LW-Don Quincey
The player on the team who pays the least attention to the rules and is prone to red cards.
LM-Horatio Nomez
Know for being a little bit crazy. Often laughs manically when playing.
RM-Reverand Alphonso
A fully qualified priest in the Albrante's catholic church.
RW-Cane Fereira
The fastest member in the team. He would have been a sprinter if not for his love of the beautiful game.
LF-Afonze Gareda
Being ex-millitary makes Afonze one of the most disciplined team members, unfortunately this discipline can clash against his short temper.
RF-Nuno Álvares
The most talented offensive player, the entire attacking strategy often resolves around this veteran of the club league.
We are a heavily defensive strategists and thus have a -2 style, very few goals get through "The Wall"

Information about Krytenia's venues

Group A
Midland Stadium, Bromham
Capacity: 47,726

Bromham's second largest stadium, and home of O-League side Mercia Bromham. The Mercians' navy and white motif is prevalent around the ground. Will host the Krytenian regional final.

Manor Field, Bletcham
Capacity: 51,666

A simple concrete-and-steel structure. Serves the best mutton jalfrezi pie in the O-League. Home of Bletcham Devils FC.

Abbey Road, Bradwell
Capacity: 47,260

Home of Bradwell Saints, the stadium is over a century old, but renovations for World Cup XL and BoF XXXII have kept it looking fresh and new.

Group B
ArenaWest, Aigburth
Capacity: 44,785

The ArenaWest, modern-looking for a stadium its age, has plenty of atmosphere in the stadium. Not so outside, though, due to its placing in the middle of a retail park. Home of Aigburth Athletic, and will host the third-place playoff.

Ostlers Lane, Stratford
Capacity: 37,996

An unremarkable stadium in terms of architecture, but the home of Stratford Rovers gets good and noisy.

Lay's Road, Leston
Capacity: 39,981

Home of Leston Town, this concrete and glass structure is an unusually modern blip on a very industrial skyline. Leston is not the place to go for wild partying; everyone's far too busy toiling.

Group C
Downhead Park, Kallia
Capacity: 40,912

With its haphazard seat colours, and angular stands, Downhead Park attempts to be artistic. Frankly, it looks ridiculous, but what do you expect from side like Kallia United? I mean, chequered shirts?!?

The Eyrie, Hoxton
Capacity: 34,840

The largest stadium in Krytenia without covered stands. The rain should hold out, but if not, pack a poncho!

Scholar's Park, Walton
Capacity: 39,152

Scholars Park is built on the site of a former grammar school (hence its name). It is the larger of Walton's two stadia, and is the home of lower league side Walton City. Extensively renovated for World Cup XL.

Group D
Brecklands, Linford
Capacity: 46,137

Brecklands is unusual in that it has only three stands; the "West Wall Mural" in lieu of a grandstand on that side separates the stadium from the grounds of an adjacent school, and is painted annually by home team Linford United's supporters club.

Municipal Stadium, Adanac
Capacity: 32,155

Built in the new city of Adanac, the stadium is as utilitarian as the city. Good facilities, though. Home of Adanac City.

Northern Star Stadium, Kovenham
Capacity: 43,281

The stadium, like the team that plays there (NSE Kovenham), are owned by Northern Star Electronics, who also make the stadium’s advanced floodlighting and undersoil heating systems.
