The Official IC Thread for Friendly Cup 7 is here. All OOC commentary not related to your RP should be put in the Signups thread (Here) and your RP points will be reduced for every infraction of putting OOC Content in the IC Thread.

Some OOC Information:

5 groups of five teams, 1st, 2nd place and the top two third place teams will advance, with the lowest 1st, 2nd placed and top two 3rd placed teams will be in a wildcard playoff. There will be a double round robin for the group stages. As said previously, all playoff series will be one game only and there will be gold and bronze medal finals. Groups 1 and 2 will be scorinated by Maklohi Vai, 3-5 will be scorinated by Rovegia. All other topics relating to scorination and RP scoring can be found in the host bid located here and any questions can be directed to Rovegia or Maklohi Vai.

Proto is the new young goalkeeper for the Communadi national team and established goalkeeper for Mogd-Syrdusha Khvadrant'beta. Created by MSKB chief scientist; Anya Sljtorjs, Proto has an additional arm grafted to the top of his left shoulder. An agile keeper with great positioning.
Evelyn is a long standing Communadi defender. Numerous muscular implants provide her with enough strength to hold off the strongest of forwards though her short stature means aerial threats are her greatest weakness.
Hope.mk2 is an upgraded version of his brother, Hope.mk1. Both are creations of the scientific behemoth, Jhed Abbensfeld, the scientist in charge of genetics and biocybermechanics at Communadi league winners, Mogd-Syrdusha Khvadrant'delta. During Sirius Hope's time in hospital following his ankle injury, somehow a DNA sample was obtained and it was from this sample that the Hope series of clones were manufactured.
As Evelyn is prone to weakness from aerial attacks, Valhjm is the ying to her yang. A series of mutations were administered to stimulate growth and he currently stands at 7'2". He is a trusted defender of Mogd-Syrdusha Sentrhaalnoya-Sektor.
D1 is another Anya Sljtorjs creation. Bred for speed, she provides the basis for many counter-attacking threats.
Alex, as captain of Muskult'rhi Sektor-Sevhyer, is a trusted midfielder. He combines well with Evelyn on the right hand side. A powerful shot, he is the Communadi free kick taker.
Kojo, created by Kventina Terloni for Muskula'dheen Sektor-Sevhyer'dvha is another attacking wing player. He partners well with Hope.mk2 in defensive situations whilst giving support to D1's attacks.
The captain, Morgana, has many cognitive implants in additional to the more common muscular ones. Hyper-intelligent, she applies chaos theory in an attempt to calculate how opponents attacks are likely to advance, and therefore how best to stop them as well as how best to attack the opposition successfully. On top of this, she also works as a 'glamour' model (i.e. what constitutes glamour modelling within the Commune) and is marketed as the perfect Communadi woman displaying intelligence, strength, leadership and beauty. She is also captain of Communadi league winners, Mogd-Syrdusha Khvadrant'delta.
Cyedrjk provides the final link in the chain of Evelyn and Alex. Though not a very agile player, ocular implants give Cyedrjk pin-point accuracy. He is quite a selfish player and will regularly shoot from great distances rather than pass to a fellow striker.
Curio is a fifteen year old boy who plays for the Wastelands Conglomerate. He was found alone as a young boy in the Wastelands by a nomadic tribe and taken to Svhobodha where he was raised. Has no discernable implants of any sort. No known parents, no known family and there are no records of him ever existing the Commune and given the tight regulations around sex and procreation, this baffles Communadi officials. Has an unbelievable talent for football. He may be only fifteen but his upbringing has made him resilient beyond his years and even the biggest, strongest defenders in the Commune fail to intimidate or even faze him.
Ghodsjn was originally a Paradystopi striker, though he took being dropped to make way for Luke Benjamin a little hard and changed his allegiance to the Commune. A decent all-round player.

The FCC is a collection of 5 nameless individuals who are connected via hive mind technology. Their orders are relayed to Morgana who, as captain, acts somewhat as a manager in situ.

Unless there are any injuries, the above 11 will be the first team for the entire tournament.

Saint Clarke Football Association

Association football is the second most popular code of football behind Aussie Rules, and closely followed by Rugby Union Football. The Association was founded in 1954, following the Freedom of Professional Movement act. In its early years, the four regions of the country (North, West, Beauty & Bank Islands) competed in the Gold Cup, a tournament held over two weeks towards the end of May, before the beginning of the SCAFL(Saint Clarke Australian Football League). As popularity for the sport grew, so did the professional league system. From the four regional teams came 8 District teams in the first District League in 1988. From this, sixteen teams were formed, unattached to districts or regions, formed the first First Division in 1996. This format has run ever since, with the addition of a twelve team Division 2 beneath it.

The national team, a new invention as Saint Clarke enters the multiverse, did exist in another form before. The 22 best players from the 16 teams would play the four regional teams before the main season began as the 'All-Stars'. These players have been taken and put into the national squad, the are A+ players. Beneath this is the reserve, or 'A' squad which consists of a farther 30 players.

The national team will be managed by ex Afferlend Celtic manager John Royer. The 56 year old has been managing the Royals for 13 years, taking them to two Division 1 titles in 2002-03 and 2006-07, as well as a Kingwell Cup victory in 2007, when they did the double. Royer showed excellent vision and judgement when in control, and will make the ideal manager for the national team.

His assistant will be Jenny de Rocleck, manager of Otagaza FC. The first female manager in Division 1, Jenny has overcome gender barriers and has proved to be a very strong manager. She has a great footballing mind, and is very vocal in the technical area, and will look to secure the assistant manager role long-term.

In the backroom, former Sporting Balaga midfielder William MacDonald is head coach for the team, whilst David Shaun is in charge of defensive coaching. Dr. Maria Lawson is in charge of physio for the team.

Goalkeeper: Jeremy GOSFORTH - 28 - 1 - Sporting Balaga

Jeremey has for the last three years been voted as the number one keeper in the league by the Pro Footballers Association. His brilliant reflexes and great strength make him the obvious choice to go between the sticks for the team

He was first spotted playing at his local club outside Muirinn by scouts for Corplyen when he was just 16 years old. He was put through college by the club, and made two appearances for the club before they went under in 2007. After going free for a year, he was picked up by Bora City. He played a key role in their 2009 cup win, keeping 5 clean sheets on their way to the final. Last year, he made a F22 million deal to move to Sporting Balaga. He comes in to replace Dan Griffin, their long term keeper who has been sold to Afferland Celtic.

Sweeper: Adam BARKER - 32 - 3 - Afferland Celtic

One of the more experienced members of the side, Adam not only has brilliant defensive abilities, which range from tackling, heading and vision, but he also has a good footballing brain. He commands the defence with an iron fist. The success of Adam as a leader will matter a lot to the success of the team.

Adam has been in football since 1999, when he became eligible for a professional playing contract for Beauty Head Hawks. He played at the Hawks for 10 years, arriving at the end of their golden age, and he witnessed the decline of the club from top of the table to relegation candidates. His wise playing and defensive abilities were one of the key points which saved the Hawks from relegation after the worst start for any club in Division 1 history in 2003. However, he was lured away by Afferland at a very important time for the club in 2008, when they underwent a change of owernership, but they seemed to fair alright without him. He has been capped 32 times since he arrived at the club.

Left Defence: Marley OLIVER - 23 - 2 - Beauty Head Hawks

Less of a defender, and more of a winger. At least thats what Primadonna Oliver thinks. Despite his cocky attitude, there is simply no denying that Oliver is a class player, and very worthy of his spot in the team. He makes darting runs down the left hand side, and can deliver great cross and corners.

A school-drop out at fifteen, despite being one of the country's best young athletes, he simply had no interest in education. He initially joined Beauty Head Athletics Club, and was a notable long-distance runner. After three years at the club, he turned to football, where he stayed at home, playing for Beauty Head Football club. He instantly impressed and got into the first team ahead of ex All-Stars defender Robbie Carrack.

Central Defence: Louis MORRIS - 29 - 4 - Sporting Afferland

Captain of the side, Louis is much wiser than his 29 years suggest. He has been playing football for 12 years, switching between the two Afferland clubs half way between his career. He is a tall, imposing figure who dominates possession in the defensive third. Down the other end of the pitch, he is a target in box, as he can jump high and has a very powerful header on him. He has a great brain for the game, and excellent vision in all parts of the game. Perfect captain material.

As aforementioned, Louis started playing professional football for Afferland Celtic when he was just 17. He originally played in the midfield, but he dropped back after his attacking abilities faltered. He was capped 107 times for Celtic, playing in 11 Afferland derbies, winning 7. He controversially moved across the River Gent to Sporting, a move which caused fierce debate in the pubs and living rooms of the country. He is now the star of the Sporting defence, teaming up with right back Rupert Hawkins-Jones, who also plays in the team.

Right defence: Rupert HAWKINS-JONES - 25 - 5 - Sporting Afferland

Teammate and partner in crime with Louis Morris. The strong and sturdy right back has played his entire career at the eagles, and has been a key possession for them. He works tirelessly, and can keep the same intensity for 90 minutes straight. He plays more as a central defender along with Morris, but he occasionally does make runs down the wing, linking up well with the midfield. On rare occasions, he produces an individual moment of brilliance when attacking, and has scored his fair share of fantastic goals.

He was born to the east of the Gent, and he stayed there. He has played for his entire career, both amateur and professional for Sporting Afferland. His brother, Mark, plays in Ujturea for Ujturea Olympic, and the games involving those two are always clashes to be enjoyed.

Left Wing: Jake WILSON - 24 - 8 - Ujturea Olympic

How this bored, lazy kid born into utter privilege ever got into the harsh world of football is still a puzzling question. Half the time, he will be just like your average league player. But when he feels like playing, he is the best player on the team. His blinding skills and inch-perfect footwork, as well as tremendous pace and brilliant vision, Wilson is the perfect winger. However, his poor attitude towards training and football in general don't run well with the coach, and he will often start on the bench in place of aspiring Tom Brix.

He was first spotted playing for his University team, and was bought by Beauty Head Hawks, but he left the club in cloudy circumstances two years ago and has played for Ujturea ever since, making over 60 caps.

Centre Midfield: Davi CRAWFORD - 23 - 9 - Sporting Afferland

The ring leader of the entire operation, Davi is the shining star in the heart of the team. He has excellent abilities in both attack and defence, and may just be the best player ever. Except of course, for Noel Shaw. He has great vision to pick out that through ball, as well as superb shooting ability and a very powerful run.

Born and raised playing football in Afferland, there were only two choices for a club for Davi. Both Afferland clubs wanted the 19 year old desperately, but he supposedly sold out to Sporting, as they had the funds to splash out a gobsmacking F11 million for the youngster. But the deal appears to have paid off, with Crawford scoring an astonishing 32 goals in 4 seasons, despite only playing in centre midfield. Watch out for his trademark free kicks which spin and dip like no other.

Right Wing: Mark CARTER - 27 - 14 - Beauty Head Hawks

A very talented and effective winger, Carter is unlucky to have been born at the same time as Jake Wilson, but he will tend to play more than Wilson as he has a much stronger will to play the game, and he enjoys every second of playing. He is a great crosser and takes corners from the right hand side. He tends to be the link man between the defence and attacking, making runs deep into enemy territory, but he doesn't tend to score that much.

He is your typical journeyman, plying his trade across five different clubs over a 10-year career. He transferred to Beauty Head Hawks from the higher ranked Ujturea Olympic to, as he put it 'relax a bit more' last season, and has been very successful in the east.

Attacking Midfield: Noel SHAW - 25 - 10 - Gardell Lake Rangers

Did someone say "Noel Shaw"?. Even if you didn't, Noel is the pinnacle of everything. No matter what you can do, Noel can do it better. Or at least he thinks can. Noel is part-footballer, part-god (and he also writes a weekly column for just about every newspaper on the planet, and a daily blog). All this aside, he is a spectacularly talented footballer, perhaps even better than Davi Crawford. There is always a friendly rivalry between the two, but it sometimes gets a bit serious, like once in a training game against Bank Islands region, they two came to blows, with Crawford flooring Shaw. Four times. Noel is more than a footballer, he is a nationwide celebrity. He appears in numerous films, radio shows and TV adverts, ranging from Political campaigns to ride on lawn-mowers adverts.

Despite his spectacular talent, which would get him into almost any starting lineup in the world, he chooses to play at mid-table side Gardell Lake Rangers, where he lives in his penthouse apartment in the most expensive housing area of Saint Clarke. He has played 6 six seasons at the Gers, getting capped over 100 times and scoring 27 goals. He hopes to take the international world by storm.

Centre Forward:Robbie NORWICH - 31 - Afferland Celtic

A dynamic and agile forward, quick for his age and very lively. Robbie is used to being the creator and scorer of his teams goals. Combined with the powerhouse midfield, Robbie becomes a very potent threat for the team. His lethal right foot is where most of the goals come from, from any range or any angle. What Robbie lacks in pace he makes up for in ball-skills and his first-touch capability. Robbie can take the ball from anywhere near the box and convert it into a goal-scoring opportunity for himself or team mates.

One of the few internationals to play for the Celtic half of Afferland, Robbie has been relied on somewhat for goals by his team-mates, and his team are often at an end when he is out with his injuries. He started his career playing at Antwich Common, before transferring to Celtic in 2008 for a weighty F9,000,000.

Centre Forward: Thomas NEILSON - 28 - Purdey Athletic

He plays slightly more of a support role behind Robbie Norwich, but he often provides goals, and more importantly, pace. He is the quickest member of the side, and uses his fantastic acceleration and agility to his, and the teams, great advantage. He relies on the midfield to play him in behind defences to get his goals, but he is very good at squaring the ball and crossing it to the likes of Norwich, Crawford and Carter. He plays more of a winger-role, but still gets his fair share of goals.

For some reason, he has remained for the majority of his career at low-aimed Purdey Athletic, when he himself is a very high achiever. Captain of the u-21 side, and Golden Boot for the 338.com League twice, yet he has narrowly avoided relegation twice with his side. He has received interest from Ujturea as well as Afferland Celtic, but it looks as if he will stay at Purdey for the majority of his career.

Here we go, it been a while since the last Friendly Cup and boy do we want to prove ourselves again. We came 4th but we lost badly in the 3rd place match, 7-1 I believe. Anyways we have gone up to number 8 in the Friendly Cup rankings. Maybe we can win, we got a really good chance this time with players like Sebastian Cadiz, Santiago Rojas and Une Yabro. We got Group 5 and here is our opponents.

We predict a 4-2 win, with Cadiz (Sebastian) scoring three and Santiago Rojas scoring 1. Shadowbourne's national football squad will take on Boring Paradise today in their first international match since their disappointing World Cup performance. The game will also be Shadowbourne's first under the command of interim manager and former center-back Xiaodong Russo. The NFCS (National Football Committee of Shadowbourne) fired former manager Serhat Bucan after a pathetic 3-3-12 showing at World Cup 63. When asked about the challenge the lay ahead of his team, Russo said,"While I think it's a challenge, I do believe that it is a challenge we can handle. I look forward to the opportunity to lead our team into a new era; one that will hopefully be a success. While the NFCS hasn't given any word on who the permanent manager will be, the leading candidates are rumored to be Russo and Isidoro Bukhave, the team's assistant manager. Bukhave is also the manager of the Burlingshire University squad, the nation's most prestigious university team. The committee is expected to reveal the new manager after the conclusion of the Friendly Cup. The 25-team tournament will run until early February, and is being hosted by Rovegia and Maklohi Vai. "I really could not care less about the upcoming match at Kintratar. Tell me what happened in the Paradystopia match!"

Morgana was not happy. Not in the slightest. If there was one thing worse than losing your first competitive match five - one, it was knowing that you share a group with your rivals and chances were that they'd had a better start than the Communadi. There was also the fact that she was going to be the one who would have to face the FCC and explain why things hadn't gone according to plan (the Communadi naturally assume they will be victorious, regardless of any other teams credentials). She paced up and down whilst Kojo tried to work out how to use a newspaper.

"Results, Paradystopia"

Naturally, the paper didn't react.

"Res ..."
"It's not an infobrick, you clueless moron. You read it yourself."
"Oh. That's unusual."

Morgana felt a strong urge to rip Kojo's head from his body. While Communadi clones are not unintelligent, due to the fact that they are artificially created within the Commune means that they're completely unaccustomed to anything not used in the Commune. Kojo opened the paper with childish glee.

"Oh yes, I see. The information is merely stored in non-audio form on these partitions."
"They're called pages Kojo ..."
"Pages ... Ha ..."
"Kojo, tell me the fucking Paradystopia score before I kill you in the most torturous way imaginable."
"Here it is Morgana. Paradystopia 4, Anollasia 2."

"Paradystopia began the Friendly Cup 7 group stage with a strong display against Anollasia. Though the game began scrappily with some wayward passing from both teams, Paradystopia soon began to find their form and take control of the game. Though the majority of the possession was with the Paradystopi, they couldn't find a way to break the Anollasian defense. Ulvgud Kjnsohn coming closest in the 20th minute, when his powerful header from Viaddin Tarcka's corner rattled the bar before being cleared. The breakthrough came just before half-time in the 43rd minute. A beautifully weighed through-ball from Pitinuus found Benjamin in space and he easily capitalised on the one-on-one opportunity, cheekily chipping the ball over the advancing goalkeeper. Half-time score, Paradystopia 1, Anollasia 0. ... "

Morgana made a mental note to make sure the Communadi team don't give Luke Benjamin an inch to run in. She didn't really care about the Paradystopia match. She just needed to gather information on the 'enemy'.
Kojo continued.

" ... The second half began with a flurry of activity. Quarren Juliett earning a yellow card for a lax tackle on an Anollasian striker. The subsequent free-kick was curled neatly into the box and headed towards Volgjsrhaad. There was a miscommunication error in the Paradystopi defense which saw Edward Braithe collide with Volgjsrhaad and the ball deflect into the net. 48 minutes in and the score stood at one all ... "
"Ha ... So it was an own goal?"
"Yes. Braithe (OG) 48'"
"At least today has brought some good news then."
"Should I continue?"
"Yes Kojo."
" ... score stood at one all. Within 10 minutes Paradystopia were back in front. A sublime solo effort from Flodrantezt’rirhan saw him take the ball past two defenders before a shot from the edge of the area evaded the Anollasian keeper's fingertips and crept inside the post. ..."
"Wait, what minute was that?"
"53rd Morgana."
"Okay, carry on."
" ... inside the post. From then on the Paradystopi dominated the match. The Anollasian defense looked increasingly tired as the game wore on. In the 69th minute, Benjamin scored his second of the day. Xandre de Kolk took the ball up the wing before playing a long arching ball towards the back post where Benjamin was able to get his head on it and tuck the ball into the top corner. The victory was sealed when Princess Jojo, substituted on for Yani Flodrantezt’rirhan, struck a long range effort in the 82nd minute, catching the Anollasian keeper uncharacteristically out of position and dipping under the crossbar in the near corner making it 4-1 to Paradystopia. Anollasia managed a late consolation from a corner in the 88th minute but it was too little, too late. Paradystopia 4, Anollasia 2."

Polkopia Ties Riyahda

Yesterday, the Polkopian National Soccer team played the nation of Riyahda to start off their first game in the Friendly Cup 7. From the start, things looked bad, as the Polkopian team is currently unranked, while the Riyahdan team is currently placed 14th. Despite all odds, the Polkopian team managed to tie the Riyahdan team in a very tough match.

The game started off with a goal from the Riyahdan team within the first fifteen minutes of the game. After the substitution of Viktor Demsov in for Lance Smith took place, the team's defense seemed more focused on what they were doing, and they proceeded to hold the other team to a 1-0 score at the half. When the second half kicked off, there was much more passing between the midfielders, which seemed to throw the other team off, and soon enough, a goal by Rostislav Kantrisov managed to tie the game. The game ended with a 1-1 tie, leaving Polkopia third in their group, trailing behind Estope and Riyahda.

"I think I can speak for everyone on the team when I say that the Polkopian team played their hearts out!" Said the captain Rostislav Kantrisov. "I am very happy about our performance today. We could have won, but a tie is nearly just as good."}
