Darmeni Tennis Players

Men's Singles: Elliot Sprecher
Men's Doubles: Elliot Sprecher & John Hoogliand
Women's Singles: Diana Ferry
Women's Doubles: Diana Ferry & Mary Estrohanovic
Mixed Doubles: John Hoogliand & Mary Estrohanovic

National Baseball Team Roster can be found here.
National American Football Team Roster can be found here.

Darmeni National Volleyball Team

Head Coach: Kale Johnson

SET-Jose Polanco
MB-Cristian Polanco
MB-Francisco Hidalgo
MB-Eddy Disla
WS-Juan Martinez
OPP-Alberto Garcia

National Australian Rules Football Team Roster can be found here.

Tennis
Sprecher and Hoogliand are pretty good singles players, but are most known for their doubles play. Ranked #2 pair in the Multiverse in the latest ITA rankings, the pair also took home the Bronze Medal at the latest Olympics. Ferry and Estrohanovic are above average players, but have nowhere near the level of talent that the two men do.

Baseball
The National Baseball Team is ranked 3rd in the Multiverse in the latest WBC rankings, but were eliminated in the Quarterfinals of the latest WBC. For the game against Saint Clarke, Manager Erle Rakes will be starting a majority of Bench Players, and expects an easy win.

American Football
Ranked in the Top 20, the Darmeni American Football Team advanced to the second Group Stage of the latest World Bowl, and missed out on the Quarterfinals by virtue of Head-to-head Point Differential. With very little subs on the bench, Coach Art Shell will be calling his favorite plays, ones that make no sense. Not to mention that the Defense will be playing Offense and that the Offense will be playing Defense.

Volleyball
Ranked 9th in the Multiverse, the Darmeni Volleyball Team won the Silver Medal at the latest Olympics. Hasn't played since the latest Rushmori Games, so is a bit rusty.

Australian Football
Although no Official Rankings exist for Australian Football, the Darmeni team won the 2nd Australian Football Invitational, and took the Gold Medal at the 1st World Games.

Trilakean Roster for Association Football

Starting XI

Name: Bryan Friend
Position: GK
Age: 28
Team: Corporations United
Quick Info: Pretty good goalkeeper that will try to not conced any goals at any time, but will be hard considering how offensive Trilakea is. A pretty easy-going person, but as a goalkeeper, pretty difficult to score against him. Obviously, out of the many chances your players will get, probably some will go in.

Name: Paul Plus
Position: LB
Age: 30
Team: Holy FC
Quick Info: Fast and with a volatile temper. Will probably get at least one red card during the tournament, but is a pretty decent LB regardless. If anyone starts a fight between my team and yours, it's probably this guy. Wouldn't be the first time.

Name: Malcolm Noble
Position: CB
Age: 23
Team: Lausaunne White Lions (Free Swiss States)
Quick Info: A defender who doesn't like fouling, because he thinks it's not "fair". However, he will foul occasionally, probably not intentionally, but he will. In a case like this, he'll apologize to the defender and ask for the referee to card him. A weird player, and likely to cause some jokes around. However, he's undeniably reliable and, due to his height, perfect to defend and score during corners and free kicks. He also always tries to do as much as possible, as he thinks that's what the people expect of him, and doens't want to let them down. Any coincidence with his surname is pure coincidence.

Name: Bloom Last
Position: RB
Age: 34
Team: Free Lass FC
Quick Info: Your average defender. Actually, even worst. He's not good at playing football, but his cheery attitude has led the team far.... or at least can lead the team far. He's a good leader, despite not being the captain. He's a very good header, although. So if your team feels unlucky or extremely bad, putting it by simple words, it might concede a goal by this guy.

Name: Peregrine Scrawny
Position: CDM
Age: 20
Team: Free Hill
Quick Info: He's somewhat thin and short. However, it's not that what counts. Scawny is excellent at recovering the ball and organizing the entire team. He sometimes dribbles too much, and may get some teammates to not like him, but he's also a very good playmaker. He's pretty young and pretty complete for his age. The only thing he lacks if physical strength, but he's speedy and somewhat resistant. May arrive late for trainings because he overslept. He's lazy.

Name: Billy Procurer
Position: LM
Age: 30
Team: Corporations United
Quick Info: The owner of a company which shouldn't be mentioned to people below 18. A decent player, who will aid any team with budget for transfers and everything, in exchange for being a starter. Regardless, he's good at crossing and often gets to assist tall players, or at least good poachers. He's also good at defending, and will try to do it well during the entire game.

Name: Samuel Footstrong
Position: CM
Age: 26
Team: Corporations United
Quick Info: Very good at marking and shootin from long distances. His last name is a hint about his playing style, really. Not good at playmaking as he can't measure how much strength he puits into passes, so he tends to choose long ones. Still a good addition for the team. Also, don't ever mae him go mad, everyone will regret it.

Name: Sean Fish
Position: RM
Age: 22
Team: Holy Lake FC
Quick Info: Fish is a weird guy. He doesn't like to play football, but he gets a very good paycheck for it and so plays for the money. He's not gonna put too much effort into anything, but he's skilled and can score, if he gets paid for it. Which he does. He's really controversial and if a foreign newspaper wants to spread rumours about someone of the team, this is their guy.

Name: Richard Fun
Position: CAM
Age: 24
Team: Corporations United
Price: 75,000
Quick Info: Fun is Pillow's official chance provider. He can make an assist out of air. In difficult situations he can get an extremely precise pass. His most famous assist was when he got an arial through-pass from a one-touch heel while being marked by two. Pillow scored with a header. He's the one who makes his team flow and have good chances. However, if he's not inspired the day you need him, prepare for doom. Seriously, teams get used to this guy leading them. Don't ask us why, we've got no idea.

Name: John Fallacy
Position: FST (False Striker)
Age: 19
Team: Luzavik ZPH (Free Swiss States)
Price: 20,000
Quick Info: Fallacy is a young player from Free Hill who plays a rather unused position: False ST. He's like a satellite to the main striker, unmarking him. He's good at assisting from short distances and can score from far distances. He's a spectacular dribbler and a very good free kick taker. It's thought that he'll make the perfect duo with Fun to give Pillow assists. The fact that he's just 19 makes him an extreme bargain.

Name: George Pillow
Position: ST
Age: 22
Team: Corporations United
Price: 100,000
Quick Info: Pillow is the Trilakean national team's star, young and with powerful shots. When he's inside the box, he's someone to fear. He's ambidextrous and can shoot towards the corners with unbelievable precision. He's agile and can dribble, although it's not his specialty. He's of average height and not really big, but also not small. The downside is that he needs help from the midfielders to score, as he can't generate chances for himself. Very good at being fouled inside the box. His price is considered a bargain in Trilakea, but it's as far as clubs will probably get to buy a player from a six-club league, even if he's its biggest star and most liked player by the fans.

Substitutes

GK: Damian Many
LB: Wilburn Cheese
CB: Quinlan Hammer
RB: Dewayne Theory
CDM: Dennis Rain
LM: Chad Quartet
CM: Layton Same
RM: Chip Delicate
CAM: German Stand
FST: Theo Happy
ST: Lyndon Better

The Trilakean Sporting Council hasn't yet decided who to send for the other football variations, but they thought they'd already send their football team and announce the others later on (OOCly in the same post before the Gridiron match).

I allow anything short of career-terminating injuries or death as my RP permissions.

Happy to allow their opponents 60% possession or even more as a normality, Bleak Rock play counter-attacking football. Looking to draw the attackers from the other team into a frustrating war of attrition in the defence, then launching swift and devastating counterattacks that strike hard and fast at the opposition goal. This is guerilla football.

Bleak Rock RFC itself is a team in the lower half of the Western Conference of the PIBRRF (Polar Islandstates and Bleak Rock Rugby Federation) combined Rugby Union championship, and it is the club that the vast majority of these players play for. However, there are players here that play for the more successful Polarian clubs, and they are relishing the chance to play for their nation for a change.

Stadia

The Hillside

The Hillside is an 11-year old Australian Football stadium, and is the home of Aussie Rules in Saint Clarke. In the hills above the city of Beleponta, the stadium is literally built into the side of a hill. It seats 65,000 people, and has a particularly good atmosphere at night. The stadium cannot be accessed by car, but on match days there is a constant bus and cable car service. The stadium is 20 minutes by bus up a winding road that scales the hill. The bus station is located in the heart of Beleponta, just minutes from Daniel Spinnell International (Airport).

Scarrafalla Stadium

The most iconic stadium in Saint Clarke, the Scarrafalla stadium was built 43 years ago to host the Gold Cup. The stadium is built around four massive stone pillars, which go through the roof. It has the capacity of 34,000, but capacity is hard to expand due to the roof, but it still provides a brilliant atmosphere, especially when local team Afferland Celtic or the national team are playing. Located in the Green Shore suburb of Afferland, you might be surprised to see the metal and concrete structure amongst the leafy boulevards and suburban bungalows. Easy access from all points in the town and across the country. The nearest WideRail station is Green Shore, which is just a 10-minute walk to the stadium. It is a 30-minute bus ride from Afferland International Aeroport. It has ample car parking and plenty of accommodation nearby for visitors.

Belgic Pot

Another iconic stadium, the Belgic Pot is perfectly circular, and looks rather strange from the air when it's retractable roof is closed. Normally a Football stadium, it is being converted to a Rugby Stadium for the tour, as most of the country's rugby stadiums are either too small or underdeveloped. It is located in the seaside city of Otagaza, and is cooled naturally by the sea breeze. It has 27,000 seats, all with great views of the stadium, as the stadium is long and flat, with a very gentle incline so everyone gets a great view. Just 30 minutes through the windy, stone lined streets from the City centre, but it is advised to take a Matchday bus from Otagaza Bus Plaza. Due to  recent flare ups in the nearby region of Banks Islands, there will be extra security.

Umatza Arena

A modern stadium in downtown Afferland, the stadium was built two years ago for the inaugural season of the National American Football League, but has remained unused since the NAFL was pushed back. It will get its first use as an American Football Stadium when Saint Clarke play Darmen in the first of the two American Football fixtures. Adorned in the blue and white of Saint Clarke, it can be quite a hospitable environment for opposing teams. Bang in the middle of Afferland, it is close to everything in the town, and only a short walk from three Afferland Metro stations and surrounded by bars and restaurants.

Robertson C-Tech Dome

Despite the high tech sounding name, the stadium is getting on a bit, and will need to be updated/replaced in the near future. The dome retracts away to give a full view of the skyline of Beleponta. Located in a rather scuzzy business park, it looks like a giant silver egg when the dome is shut, giving it the nickname "De Olua", meaning 'the egg' in native Asgara. It seats 28,000 people around three stands, and has several large screens. The pitch however, is one of the best tended in the country, constantly surveyed and protected by a team of dedicated ground staff. As opposed to The Hillside, the RCT Dome is in the actual city of Beleponta, situated near the harbour of idyllic yachts and gigantic cruise ships. Close to both the airport and bus station, as well as an arterial motorway, it is easy to access from virtually anywhere.

Sudwes Afferland Lawn Club

Less of a stadium and more of a class statement, the SWAFLC is one of the most prestigious sports clubs in the country. It is located in the affluent Istern district of Afferland in the south west of the city. It has 14 perfectly manicured grass courts, as well as entire sports centre, complete with Olympic length swimming pool and two gyms. The nearest Metro station is West Caxton street, but is much easier to walk from a car park which run the edge of town, as the high streets can be incredibly busy.

National Convention Centre

The result of a F45 million reconstruction project, after it's predecessor was destroyed by fire. It is more akin to hosting business or computer shows, but the main hall has been converted into a full seater Volleyball stadium. Fully inside, it has a fabulous atmosphere to rival any football stadium. It has it's own bus, Metro and WideRail stations, as well as a short bus ride from the airport, it is the most accessible of all the venues.

SportsSaintClarke: Tennis

~by Naomi Rice

The Islamd tour got underway today at the prestigious Sudwes Afferland Lawn Club. All the big names in and around Afferland were there, from sports and movie stars, to the Mayor of Afferland and his wife, to see the various games taking place.

The sun was shining and the crowd was set for the first game to get under way on Court 1, the Women's Doubles fixture between Saint Clarke and Darmen. On the home side was 23-year old accountant Alice Macintyre & the country's only pro female player, 25-year old Ella Cromwell from Dorren. They were greeted as they came out on court first with rapturous applause from the sold out crowd. The often staunchly private Sudwes Lawn Club relaxed their laws today, putting up two big screens outside the stadium so an extra 5,000 could watch and cheer.

Their opponents, Diana Ferry and Mary Estrohanovic of Darmen, received notably less applause, but the atmosphere was still friendly towards the pair. The toss was done, and Cromwell chose to serve first.

The early games were mixed, with both sides playing a good game, levelling at 2-2. Ferry looked like the best player of the four, playing some very good shots down the lines to trouble both of our girls. Estrohanovic was very quick and strong at the net, and had the clear advantage over the amateur Macintyre. The Girls from Darmen took a strong 5-3 lead, before finishing off the set with a convincing set of shots.

The Cromwell & Macintyre had to seriously pick up their game to get back into the two-set encounter. They started brightly, taking a 2-0 lead in quick succession over the Darmen duo. Cromwell was playing some exceptional shots from the baseline, often wrapping up Ferry on the front lines. They surged to a 4-1 lead, but were pulled back by some superior shots from the Darmenian girls to level at 5-5. They dropped down to 0-40 in the 11th game, but some acrobatic shots from Macintyre levelled it at Deuce, and then a particularly good slice from Macintyre drew some loud cheers from the crowd as they took the initiative. They then won the the tie breaking game with ease, taking it without conceding a point.

All square at one a piece, and Cromwell and Macintyre were set on winning Saint Clarke's first ever international match. Things did not start brightly for the pair, going 3-1 down after some dubious calls from line judges and some sharp play from Ferry. They managed to recover to 3-3, but the Darmenians managed to hold an edge over them, taking it to 5-4, and possibly to the game. But Cromwell had other ideas, playing several fantastic shots to outfox the Darmenians and to bring it down to 6-6, and having a tiebreak. Ferry played a shot long, but Macintyre fired wide to put it at 15-15. Estrohanovic put a shot into the net, then she couldn't reach a wide shot from Cromwell, leaving it at 40-15 and the match point. The tension in the final point was broken somewhat when Cromwell served a fault. The following rally was only brief, the game ending with Ferry firing wide off a Macintyre slice shot.

The girls from Saint Clarke had won an enthralling encounter, setting up another nine games for the rest of the day. Was a new area of sporting dominance beginning for the country? Only time would tell?

And so they marched to the pitch, after the Campionato Esportiva they were filled with confidence against unranked team Saint Clarke, nation of which they hadn't heard of yet, but knew that it was "somewhere in Rushmore". The nation seemed quite prepared, and seemed to have lots of future as starting a tournament with so much possibilities isn't something common, and they had heard of them just recently.

About the match, it wasn't as easy as they expected. Thomas Neilson scored a quick free kick when five minuted had gone by, after a somewhat dumb foul by Plus, damn his volatile temper. The free kick was a majestic one, unbelievable to most of the ones on the pitch, specially to Neilson. Pillow got to level things with a spectacular shot from the box's angle, precise as an archer, the ball went through teh floor, bent in, hit the post and went in all at a fantastic speed. Now, with half an hour already gone by, things could go for anyone, and they would fight to death for the win, however "friendly" the match was. When the referee blew te whistle indicating the end of the first half, all the players were exhausted, they all had ran a lot, excepting the damn lazy keepers, of course.

On the second half, Noel Shaw scored a very good goal from outside the box, leaving Friend with no chances what-so-ever of stopping the shot. Now the Trilakeans had to struggle again against the Clarkeans, who were beating them once again, they still couldn't get it in their heads. Pillow and Fun created some chances, as well as Shaw and the two Clarkean strikers, the game was all-out-attack, but nobody scored another goal and, as the referee blew the whistle one last time, the Trilakeans still hadn't got the loss against an unkown team in their heads. Maybe it was time to hide themselves from the international scene after the brief humiliation that had been their Campionato Esportiva and now this Island Tour...
