Welcome to the twelfth edition of the Copa Rushmori, for all your Rushmori international competition needs.

BID POST

The twelfth edition is to be hosted right here in the home of two time winners Polar Islandstates, and we hope you'll all enjoy your stay here. As mentioned in my bid post, the competition will be taking place in the Polarian summer. This means two things - one, 24 hour sunlight; and two, temperatures will touch above zero degrees celsius in the height of the noonday sun - think two or three degrees, max. All your team hotels will be kitted out with full blackout blinds in their windows, as is standard for all Polarian construction, so how you choose to RP these weather conditions is up to you entirely.

Again, as mentioned previously in my bid thread, all nations taking part will have a "Team Liaison Officer". This is a character who is ICly attached to your team who you may take as written speaks your nation's language fluently and can act as an interpreter between your team and my authorities. Should you wish to RP them as one of the background characters you will have full GodMod powers over them beyond the name/age/gender I give you. Blame them for bad results, paint them as some kind of latter day saint, kill them and throw them in the team jacuzzi as an offer to your gods, whatever. It is entirely up to you how much to include them, if at all. There will be no penalty for not including them, they are just there as a catalyst should you want/require one. The Team Liaison Officers are as follows:

1. Valladares - Wilhemina Conradsen (35, Female)
2. Astograth - Vasek Haapakoski (45, Male)
3. Polar Islandstates - Mathias Lavrin (34, Male)
4. Western Cuba - Marianne Moskovits (32, Female)
5. Michael VII - Patrick Wigdahl (33, Male)
6. Falconfar - Linus Hynninen (38, Male)
7. Saugeais - Maximilian Knudsen (39, Male)
8. Pasceaux - Thijs Rochev (30, Male)
9. Sicoutimont - Nanna Rygg (29, Female)
10. Darmen - Oyvind Balanchine (45, Male)
11. Charruterra - Alexandria Yakushkin (45, Female)
12. Mapletish - Ruben Nikanova (39, Male)
13. Weatherdon - Pernille Sorensen (38, Female)
14. Birolika - Sara Talonen (37, Female)
15. Sargossa - Radek Ekern (36, Male)
16. Homelands our - Agnetha Patsayev (34, Female)
17. Mashiki - Denis Trebitsch (32, Male)
18. Mytannion - Alexis Migerka (30, Male)
19. Boring Paradise - Roman Jepsen (40, Male)
20. Phoenigetuzstha - Nicola Madsen (36, Female)
21. Pasarga - Maxim Okland (38, Male)
22. Falconwhereveryouare - Mikhail Uren (39, Male)
23. Carmadin - Lucille Garness (43, Female)
24. Aquillian - Ilya Bohinen (51, Male)
25. Ancharmunn - Oleg Grondahl (48, Male)
26. Eastfield Lodge - Ruth Schneider (42, Female)
27. Bonarisa - Sofia Bounine (39, Female)
28. Kitsunia-Deesse - Sergey Dideriksen (47, Male)
29. Beaverriver - Natasha Vanpera (48, Female)
30. Zandistan - Niels Wetterstrum (38, Male)

As you can see, thirty teams means a slight compromise on the format I planned to use. Thirty teams will be split into 6 groups of five teams each. The top two of each group will be guaranteed progress to the round of sixteen, making twelve teams through with four spots remaining. The six third placed teams will then be ranked 1-6 based on group stage performance, and 1-6 based on RP bonus so far, the average of these two ranks will then be used to determine the two teams that go through as best placed runners up. The remaining four will be drawn into a one-off playoff to determine the last two teams to go through to the round of sixteen. The teams in the round of sixteen will then be ranked 1-16 based on group stage performance, and 1-16 based on RP bonus so far (not counting RP in the playoff rounds for those teams that needed it), and the average of the two ranks used to seed the teams. Seed #1 will then play #16 and so on, with the knockout rounds all planned and drawn out so that on paper the #1 and #2 seeds would in theory meet in the final.

As set out in my bid post, the group stage draw will aim to keep an equal number of RPers in each group. So, for that end, there will now be a period of RP/Rostering for those teams taking part so that I may 'weight' the group stage draw.

This is done to avoid the festive period and because I know we'll all be busy around this time of year.

An Introduction to the Federation of Polar Islandstates for Copa Rushmori XII
by Dima Koolhaas, FPIFA President

First of all, welcome. We at the FPIFA and indeed, the people all over the Federation, are thrilled to be hosting the twelfth edition of our esteemed regional competition. Nations and people will be visiting us from all over Rushmore, and whilst we hope to keep the trophy here with us, we certainly look forward to the competition.

BACKGROUND
The Federation of Polar Islandstates is a nation in the far north of Rushmore that has existed long in the minds of its citizens, and not so long in terms of being a legally established nation. As a region, the many islands that make up this northern area of Rushmore known locally as Valhalla have always shared a sense of camaraderie and sense of togetherness, even when at war with each other. Anthropologists aren't certain, but the original breeding grounds for the neanderthals that would evolve into the Valhallans you see walking around you today appears to have been in the archipelago known today as Aleutia. Assisted by the seasonal pack ice that appeared in the much harsher winters they had during pre-history, these nomadic tribes would colonise much of the main 'chain' of islands that makes up the Federation today. Once they had developed enough to construct boats, favourable currents were responsible for the discovery and colonisation of the more distant outposts of Külmsaar, Terra Scotia, Landt Sibir, and Northbrook. It was during this time also that the area of Kuril was cut off for centuries at a time, leading to the slightly different customs we see there today.

As time developed the people and the lands, the Old Valhallans began to club together. The old royal houses of Surtsey, Grímsey, Jan Mayen, and Bjarnarey were amongst the first to see the benefits in alliance, and they formed a suspicious but strong entente that would form a ring of prosperity around the Norscelt Sea. It was around this time that the houses of the newly unified Svalbard, Franz Josef, and Axel Heiburg fell into a tumultuous war that would last for decades in a fiercely political and tense dispute over waters between the three. Meanwhile, Victorrinn established itself as a dominant naval power in the East that unintentionally protected the nearby kingdoms of Hans, Melville, Aleutia, as well as the shipping routes to the Ellismare Empire, Grenlund, and Terra Scotia. In the far west, the archipelagos of Markii, Orkness, and Shodtlundt overthrew their royal lines and became republics.

The all-powerful Jarls of Zemlya waged a war in the name of conquest that unified the kingdoms of Severny, Yuzhny, Devon Islands, and Zemlya, and created a power to the west of Axel Heiburg that could not be ignored, shaking the balance of the three way stalemate and kickstarting a series of political processes that would ultimately result in peace between the nations in the mid-east of Valhalla. It was also around this time that Nunivak secured independence from Ellismare. Half a century later, only the tiny principality of Bleak Rock maintained any attempt at a monarchy of any sort, and the stage was set for people of Valhalla to finally unify their nations.

The first treaty of significance was that of peace and trade between Svalbard and Franz Josef, kickstarting the Valhallan Union. Soon, the rest of the islands in the region joined as well, with Terra Scotia and Kuril the last nations to subscribe to the idea of a powerful regional union. Külmsaar finally decided on an independence from Sargossa and signed a treaty of co-operation with Terra Scotia, the two small nations becoming an associate member of the Valhallan Union as was Kuril, rather than being full members.

The general movement seemed to be heading in only one direction however, and idea of a full Federal union was first put forward and acted upon by the leaders of Norscelt, Victorrinn, Franz Josef, and Svalbard, and it is these original four states that are represented by the four green triangles on the flag. Franz Josef City was, and still is, the largest city in the states, and so it became the de facto capital of the fledgling nation. Unwilling to join the Federation during the original talks, the nations of Novaya Zemlya, Northbrook, Axel Heiburg, Aleutia, a unified Hans and Melville, and Landt Sibir were quick to notice the strength that the unity was bringing the original four states, and less than four years later they had all became the second wave of participatory states in what was a huge expansion for the Federation. Although the name of the area - Valhalla - was mooted as a potential name for the Federation during the original talks, the non-participatory states lobbied strongly against the move, believing that it would poke holes in the foundations of their own national identities, and so the Federation of Polar Islandstates it would remain.

However, as the years passed, and the individual quangos from each state began to merge to form powerful federal institutions, the other nations in the Valhallan Union began to see the benefits of inclusion in the Federation, and another wave of expansion was initiated. The composite state of Farosea joined, formed by the unification of the republics of Markii, Orkness, and Shodtlundt, as well the associated nation of Bleak Rock. The south-eastern states of Nunivak, Ellismare, and Grenlund all joined on the same day one year after Farosea, followed three days later by the western states of Sakhalin, St Lawrence, Kuril Arkhipelgo. It was with this wealth of people, expertise, and for the first time, Valhalla-wide political agreement, that the nation threw its weight fully behind participation in Rushmori politics, and it has since developed into one of the powers of the region, finding strong allies in the nations of Astograth, Civil Citizenry, and Cotdelapoms, to name but a few.

Begrudgingly, the independent state of Bleak Rock also entered into an agreement with the Federation at this time, such that it would retain independence and the power to control its own internal affairs, whilst also sharing many of its services with the state of Farosea and allowing concessions towards the people and businesses of the Federation. Under the protection of the Federation, the island has turned into a prosperous micro-state, and relationships between the two nations are strong, with a fierce and friendly sporting rivalry. This relationship is still labelled the Valhallan Union, the creation of the Federation reducing its membership to just those two nations. The inclusion of Kuril Arkhipelago was another one without a certain lack of controversy, as many Polarians and old Valhallans, untrusting of the arkhipelago's famous isolationism, believed the state would leech from the Federation as a whole. Whilst keeping their distance in certain realms, these fears have gone unfounded on the whole however, and the issue is nowhere near as contentious as that of Külmsaar and Terra Scotia.

The southernmost state in the Federation, Külmsaar and Terra Scotia will appear on most conventional maps of the Rushmori mainland, and can be found to the east of Sargossa. Whilst quite happy to support the political union between Külmsaar and Terra Scotia, the leaders of Sargossa were nonetheless alarmed when the islands made a bid for inclusion in the Federation, despite the large amount of old Valhallans living on them, and the clear cultural heritage that links them to the states already in the Federation. There are still a lot of people of Sargossan heritage living in Külmsaar in particular, and they have frequently been outspoken in their desires to cede from the Federation and join into a union with Sargossa, despite there being little question of Terra Scotia's desire to do nothing of the sort. Nonetheless, the island has remained in its union with Terra Scotia and, ultimately, the Federation, and whilst 'The Külmsaar Conundrum' has usually been little more than a grain of sand in the traditionally cordial if cool relationship between Sargossa and the Federation, it has recently flamed up into something more. There is little chance of any military action between the two Rushmori powerhouses, but words are watched and carefully chosen.

Today, the Federation is a powerful and growing nation, full of states that only differ slightly from the rules and laws set by the federal government, is full of happy Polarians, and is straining at the bit to get on with the opportunity presented to it by hosting the Copa. Known for design and industry, the Federation's style, architecture, design, graphics, and lifestyle are all famed and celebrated in many nations around Rushmore, with graphic and furniture companies Ros Graafinen and HAKK enjoying considerable overseas reputations, and it can also boast the headquarters of the Rushmori Cartographers Union. You may also have heard of other Polarian companies such as Engelmarkt, Poplaberg, Bergen, AalborgPettersen, Farautoo, Henningvale, Staelbaek & Hansen, Henrik, Sokhorosk Linii, Rausen, Polair, and Orrstar. We can boast two Copa titles in our trophy cabinet, as well as a third place finish at the World Cup, not to mention one of the strongest footballing leagues in the multiverse in the form of Divisjon One, containing as it does two Champions' Cup winners - East Franz Athletic and, just recently, FC Axel Heiburg.

GETTING AROUND
Transport links in the Federation are plentiful, with each town having an extensive bus and tramlink system, with Franz Josef City itself enjoying the presence of the famous Rotmettransit. Further interesting transport can be found in place such as Jan Mayen, where cable-cars can move you up and down the extinct volcano on which the city is based with ease, or Bjarnarey, where fleets of boats and canal taxis can move you between the many jetties, piers, and quays that make up the town. More information on travel around the towns and cities can be obtained from your Team Liaison Officer. Inter-state, transport is ably provided by fleets of ferries, planes, and helicopters, which during these summer months will all be untroubled by harsh weather patterns and pack ice. Nonetheless, teams of iceberg spotters and icebreakers will be at work throughout the final. The transport is all subsidised by the federal government, and so fares will be relatively cheap. Taxis are plentiful should you require one, and whilst it is not anticipated that many will use hire cars during the tournament, information for visitors that wish to drive in the Federation can consult their Team Liaison Officer or hotel concierge, who will be happy to help.

FOOD AND DRINK
Valhallans are a hardy bunch, tall and lithe, and so it will come as surprise to few that their diet is traditionally very healthy, if hearty. Simple meals will dominate the menus at the plentiul bars and restaurants, with fish and potatoes, cooked in a a huge variety and combination of different of ways being a particular favourite. Also try such regional delicacies as shellfish, walrus, kelp, and a wholesome hash of spiced root vegetables and leftover meats called 'pytt i panna', eaten nationwide in varying recipes - every family will have a particular recipe that has been handed down through the generations - often with egg and pickled accompaniments. The popularity of imported Citiz baked goods continues to be high, and they can be found at most coffee-houses, such as Huytspurr. Taxes are relatively high in the Federation, allowing for such things as cheap transport and free healthcare, and whilst most of this is made up through the wages of those who work in the nation, some of it is gained through amenities such as places to eat and drink. Therefore, the prices at bars and restaurants may be viewed as expensive to some, for alcohol in particular. Speaking of alcohol, try the famous spirit, 'Seasogs', and the ubiquitous ale, 'Grogg'. Many alcoholic drinks remain specific to towns or states however, and so it is best to check the local shops for what is popular with the locals. Despite this, Grogg and Seasogs are the official drinks of the finals, and will be available at heavily discounted prices at every stadium and fan-park across the nation.

ACCOMMODATION AND ENTERTAINMENT
Tourism in the Federation has undergone a recent boom, and as such is currently enjoying an abundance of place to stay, from the five star hotel to the bed and breakfast, or even the humble hostel. Whilst suffering from the high taxes that can be found in the food industry, there are a great deal of guest houses and hotels in the Federation, all maintained and inspected to high standards. As an additional bonus, those booking with a ticket for any game can quote the ticket number and receive a heavy discount on the regular room price, subsidised by the government's pockets. Entertainment in the nation is plentiful, with many towns celebrating their local music scene on a daily basis. Theatres and art galleries are common, and with the recently burgeoning interest in tracing family histories, the nation has seen a huge amount of local history museums open, so for those interested in sampling the cultural attractions the Federation has to offer, there will be plenty of options. Or, if you simply want to dance the night away, the relaxation of drinking laws has seen a rise in the popularity of nightclubs.

STAYING INSIDE THE LAW
In the Federation of Polar Islandstates, there are few laws that you would find unusual in your own nation. Murder, assault, rape, theft and corruption is all subject the same laws as you would see anywhere else, although piracy and smuggling are cracked down on harder than many other nations would. Public urination carries an instant on the spot fine in all states, as does vomiting in public should the individual responsible be unable to express remorse or offer explanation. Police officers are trained to be understanding and will listen in any situation, as well as being keen to offer assistance if the situation can be resolved on the spot without court action. If matters do go to court, sentences and fines are strict and harsh, so an on the spot resolution is almost always the preferred solution for all parties involved. Almost all recreational drugs are permitted for personal use in private or rented property so long as all paraphernalia is dealt with properly, and can be purchased in safe quantities from certified outlets. Street dealing is forbidden however, and any person found to be abusing these laws will be dealt with harshly. Alcohol and caffeine are normally the only drugs permitted to be used in public places, and this will remain the case during the finals in all stadia and towns. However, in fan-parks there will be relaxations of the rules that will allow the consumption of marijuana and tobacco in certain and specific areas. Look for signage. With crowds inevitably come troublemakers, and additional numbers of police officers will be present on the streets, as well as CCTV operators in their control centres. Interpreters for all languages spoken by visiting nations will be available at all emergency services.

LANGUAGE, CURRENCY, HEALTHCARE
The national language of the Federation is Valhallan, or Polarian as the rest of Rushmore has come to know it as, a subtle language based on a large range of ancient dialects from across the region. The basics are easy enough to pick up, but it isn't the easiest language for the foreigner to master, though any attempt to make yourself understood in the language will be greatly appreciated and warmly received by any Polarian host. However, English is broadly spoken across the nation, and is a mandatory subject in the education system as long as the individual remains in compulsory education, age 18. Interpreters for all languages and literature and signage in most common languages will be present at all fan-parks however, and it is anticipated that there will be very few problems in this area. All the same, here are a few phrases that you may find useful.
Hello - Hallo
Good morning - God morgen
Good evening - God kveld
Goodbye - Ha det
Please - Vänligen
Thank you - Takk
Which way to the stadium? - Som vägen till stadion?
Could I have the bill, please? - Kan jag få notan, tack?
Excuse me, I am lost. - Anteeksi, olen menettänyt
Which way to the fan-park? - Vilken väg till fan-park?
A pint of Grogg, please. - En pint Grogg, tack?
I feel unwell. - Voin pahoin
I need help. - Jeg trenger hjelp
Long live the Federation! - Lenge leve Federation!

The currency unit is the sol. One hundred pfennigs make a sol. Represented by the symbol $, the sol is a relatively strong currency. Expect to pay between $5-7 for a pint of Grogg or other ale, between $30-50 for a decent meal for two in an average restaurant, $2-3 for a takeaway cup of coffee, and between $30-40 for a night at a three-star hotel.

Healthcare in the Federation is provided by the all-reaching arms of the FPIHS and is free for residents, with only a few of the rare treatments requiring much more than a token gesture of supplementary payment from patients. Healthcare for visitors during the finals will be free on a reactionary basis. Healthcare that is required as a result of ailments picked up or received during your stay in the nation will be provided free upon presentation of a valid passport. Those patients requiring regular medical treatment will be treated for free if prescriptions and medical information has been passed on prior to the finals starting. Arrangements have been made by the FPIHS with the embassies of all participating nations, and visitors are advised to get in touch with their respective embassies for further details. Any attempt to deceive the authorities will be looked upon poorly, and the free care for visitors will only be available for the duration of the finals.

EMERGENCY NUMBER
The emergency number for all services in the Federation is 111. Dial this, and an operator will ask you which primary service you require. The options are coastguard, police, ambulance, and fire service. Any other service that may also be required will be automatically be requested by the operator you are transferred to, but as a rule the coastguard are equipped to handle all fire, immigration, smuggling, and health issues that may arise at sea or on rural coastlines. For built-up coastline areas such as docksides or jetties, opt for the other three services.

WEATHER
As you may have guessed, we are way up in the north of Rushmore, lying inside the Arctic Circle. As such, whilst temperatures will be low on the whole, the sun will last all day for the entirety of the tournament, and temperatures will never drop too far below zero. Visitors should prepare to wrap up warm though, as the weather is expected to be full of clear anti-cyclones for the duration of the tournament.

SPORT
Sport in keenly followed in the Federation, and football is the most popular sport. Should visitors wish, they could also attend one of many other sports. The domestic seasons for rugby league, rugby union, football, and handball will all be in the off season, however, the playoffs for the ice hockey will still be going on, and the national people's sport of Veggball will still be in full swing. Polarian club sides have enjoyed a surge in success recently in terms of their international reputation, with reigning champions of the Champions' Cup hailing from the Federation. The rugby sides are also feared on the continent, despite a lack of trophy success in the finals of the Seasogs RUCT Championship, which is administered from Northbrook - the spiritual home of the nation's rugby union.

HOST CITIES AND STADIA
Fan-parks – Situated in the area around each host stadium will be a fan-park. Intended for use by those fans who have been unable to procure tickets for their nation’s matches, and for amicable mingling of fans in between matches, the fan-parks are a great place to meet other fans and will see the best offers on food and drink across the nation for the duration of the games. Also, in the streets around the fan-parks, see if you can spot all 30 “nationballs” of the nations playing in the Federation. Designed by design house Ros Graafinen, these balls are part of the official graphic presence for the tournament, and one for each nation has been placed around each stadium, so see if you can spot them!

GROUP A
Franz Josef City - Franz Josef City is the capital city of the Federation, and is the largest city by some distance. Bursting at the seams with culture and industry, it is a split city, cut in two by the tidal seawater of the Elfsteijn Channel. The seat of the nation's government and the base of a great many companies, it is ready to open its arms warmly to visitors, with its three biggest stadiums each hosting two matches in three different groups. Essential to getting around the city will be the famous Rotmettransit, a map of which can be found here in resource 12aR(iv).
The fan-parks will be located in Tobiasz Square, Nasjonale Way, Elm Dock, and Artur Ostrem Gardens.
For more information, see leaflet 12a.

Image
National stadium for the Terns, the Nasjonale is the largest stadium in the nation. It hosts the finals of the Latitude, Regional, and Challenge trophies every season, and has previously hosted the third place play off of the World Cup. It is situated south of the Elfsteijn, just west of the centre of the city, at Nasjonale on the Sudlandt, Pettersen, and Circuit lines.

Image
Home to the largest and most successful domestic club in the nation, SK Franz Josef City, the Landstadt is a large and modern stadium situated just in the south west of the city, near the Helmstadt stop on the Sudtlandt, Jaggelin, and Pettersen lines.

Image
Home to SK's fierce rivals East Franz, the Rendahl's four lit up spires give the club their nickname and are an homage to the four corner flags that were set on fire to provide lighting at the first ever match between the two rival clubs. It is in the north-east of the city, at Rendahl on the Jaggelin and Rendahl lines.

Image
Not very good, but thoroughly well supported, centre-east side SK Nasjonale Hauker play at this beloved old stadium. Situated at Dry Dock on the Sudlandt line north of the Elfsteijn, the atmosphere will be electric. Shares a complex with the Kungsdocks handball team, who play in an arena off the back of the football stadium.

MD1 - 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 - (first listed match at Nasjonale Stadion, second listed match at Landstadt Stadion)
MD2 - 5 vs 3, 1 vs 2 - (first listed match at Rendahl Stadion, second listed match at Kungsdocks)
MD3 - 3 vs 1, 4 vs 5 - (first listed match at Nasjonale Stadion, second listed match at Landstadt Stadion)
MD4 - 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 - (first listed match at Rendahl Stadion, second listed match at Kungsdocks)
MD5 - 4 vs 2, 5 vs 1 - (first listed match at Nasjonale Stadion, second listed match at Landstadt Stadion)

GROUP B
Jan Mayen - Despite the title of Rushmori Capital of Culture being awarded to Franz Josef City, the city of Jan Mayen is held by many to be the cultural capital of the nation. With a huge alternative art and music scene, the 'city of bookbinders' is the centre of many newspapers and publishing houses from the Federation. Built up the side of an extinct volcano, many of its hotels and guesthouses offer commanding and impressive views over the Norscelt Sea.
The fan-park will be located on Salchowastrasse.
Image
Stadium for recent underachievers but team on the up, Jan Mayen Islanders, the large capacity owes to the club having formed from a merger of two local sides. Large and modern, and half set into the volcano that overshadows the city.

Surtsey - The second city of Norscelt, Surtsey is a remarkably flat city given the hilly nature of the rest of the island. Used as a base by many when exploring the nation by air, its extensive links to Bjarnarey have established key partnerships between companies in the two cities. Famous for its shellfish, as well as for holding the title of being the only city north of Terra Scotia to have a recreational sandy beach.
The fan-park will be located in Plaza Nordenbar.
Image
Named after a local sporting hero, Stadion Solberg can be an intimidating cauldron of noise when Surtsey are doing well. Old and full of atmosphere, a favourite for visiting fans.

Grímsey - The capital of Norscelt, Grímsey is a large and sprawling metropolis, and is home to the nation's Handball administration. The locals are mad for the sport, and football can sometimes take a back seat because of this. The major team of the city, North Star, has just been promoted back to Divisjon One however, so interest is on the up.
The fan-park will be located in North Hakkinen Way.
Image
Built in the years preceding the formation of the Federation, this stadium is starting to pack out attendance wise once again. Clean and an enjoyably easy commute from all points of the city.

Bjarnarey - The unique city of Bjarnarey is an assault to the senses for all who visit. A floating city made of wood, the city clings barely to four islands of shale that have created the lagoon in which the city floats. Canals chop and change as people unhinge their buildings and move them elsewhere, and the quays and jetties bob up and down on the waves.
The fan-park will be located in Public Quay.
Image
Unique in the Federation for being a floating stadium, this unusual stadium will literally shake and jump with the movements of the fans as it rocks on the waves below the city. A fantastic experience, and accessible only by gangplanks and bridges. Has to be seen to be believed.

MD1 - 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 - (first listed match at Victoria Stadium, second listed match at Steffansen Lane)
MD2 - 5 vs 3, 1 vs 2 - (first listed match at Stadion Solberg, second listed match at The Barge)
MD3 - 3 vs 1, 4 vs 5 - (first listed match at Victoria Stadium, second listed match at Steffansen Lane)
MD4 - 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 - (first listed match at Stadion Solberg, second listed match at The Barge)
MD5 - 4 vs 2, 5 vs 1 - (first listed match at Victoria Stadium, second listed match at Steffansen Lane)

GROUP C
St Paul - The industrial centre of the east, St Paul is a bustling conurbation, situated at the foot of cliffs, and spreading over a series of spits, peninsulas, capes, inlets, and bays. As such, its docklands are an extensive construction, and its down to earth nature and the humility of the workhardy souls who make St Paul their home give the city a distinctly driven nature.
The fan-park will be located in Rask Pier.
Image
FC Cape St Paul may have hit on turbulent times recently, but the one time Divisjon One champions can still count on massive support in their huge stadium, where the old stands were simply built over with the new ones you see today Huge, and can be very cold in the upper tiers - so wrap up!

Nuuk - Now home to a booming cruise tourism industry based on the gluttony of whales and other marine wildlife, this city has a rapidly growing financial and computer services sector that contrasts with its cute-sy image and reputation.
The fan-park will be located in Whale Point.
Image
Small and perfectly formed, this stadium is about as traditional as you can get when it comes to Polarian stadium design. Regularly packed out despite their team's status, the local fans will snap up the neutral tickets for games here rapidly.

Korsten - With many bridges that cross its open sea inlets, this town has a distinct and unique atmosphere. The locals are passionate for their sports despite their local teams not being very good at many of them. Any visiting teams will no doubt collect a large local support as a result.
The fan-park will be located in Central Park.
Image
Situated at the southern end of Grenlund, this stadium is overshadowed by the colossal mountains that rise needle-like to start the chain that forms the backbone of the state. Located a little way out of the town, but has underfloor heating in all stands.

Grise Fiord - The centre of the Rochefroides community in the Federation, the city of Grise Fiord is the old capital of the old Ellismare Empire and the locals still harbour a kind of imperial nature as a result, particularly the older ones. Many of the people will speak the Cotdelapomais in origin Rochefroides language, and the signs will be in two languages because of this.
The fan-park will be located in Kartsplatz.
Image
Suffers from obscured views from some seats, but the atmosphere is nonetheless fantastic at this old heap of a stadium. Full of quirks and odd little corners, it is a fan favourite.

MD1 - 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 - (first listed match at Millerntor Arena, second listed match at Stade St Olaf)
MD2 - 5 vs 3, 1 vs 2 - (first listed match at Frost Lane, second listed match at Urfstadt Road)
MD3 - 3 vs 1, 4 vs 5 - (first listed match at Millerntor Arena, second listed match at Stade St Olaf)
MD4 - 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 - (first listed match at Frost Lane, second listed match at Urfstadt Road)
MD5 - 4 vs 2, 5 vs 1 - (first listed match at Millerntor Arena, second listed match at Stade St Olaf)

GROUP D
Aasiaat - The base of the armed forces in the nation, Aasiaat is town steeped in military history. Alongside its neighbours of Resolute and McAvery, its population is stacked with the names of famous naval families, and whilst it can be seen as a rather backwards-facing place by many of the other cities in the Federation, its warehouses and apartments can be found to be full of some of the most advanced technology and minds in Rushmore.
The fan-park will be located in Petter Frederik Gardens.
Image
Another one of the old stadia in the Federation that is heaped in history, the basic form of this stadium hasn't changed in decades since Aasiaat Harbour were the largest club in the region. Small staircases though, so watch for bottlenecks.

Melville - The capital of the state of Hans and Melville, the city nonetheless had to exert its influence over Hans during their times of less co-operative leaders than those that united the islands in peace. Like many of the north-eastern town, it relies on heavy industry and manufacturing for its basic industry, but their history of artisans has also made the place famous for their wood carvings and alternative druid lifestyle
The fan-park will be located in Wallerndorm Lane.
Image
This squat little stadium towers above much of the residential housing that surrounds it, and its location ensures a great family and accepting atmosphere. Old and draughty.

Resolute - Sharing a historic rivalry with Aasiaat, once the two were united in peace their naval force was almost intidatingly unstoppable. Still a huge port and industrial centre today, many of the military training schools can be found in its twisting old town streets.
The fan-park will be located in Riverside Park.
Image
A huge stadium for one of the better supported clubs in the Federation, Mossy Park shares many of the traditional features that stadia in the north-east share. Boxy and charming in its own ugly duckling way, this stadium rocks and rolls with the fans.

Aleutia Town - The largest town and capital of the most north-easterly state of Aleutia, it has a great variety of sub-cultures and influences lent to it by the many different islands in the chain. Modernisation is starting to hit the town hard, and there is a booming tourism industry drawn by the natural unspoilt beauty.
The fan-park will be located in Gunnersclough.
Image
A garish little construction on the south side of the town, this stadium contains massive gaps between the stands. Nonetheless, the stands create a huge atmosphere thanks to their steep banking, and opposition teams tend not to enjoy the experience.

MD1 - 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 - (first listed match at Harbour Walk, second listed match at Mossy Park)
MD2 - 5 vs 3, 1 vs 2 - (first listed match at Melville House, second listed match at McAllister Way)
MD3 - 3 vs 1, 4 vs 5 - (first listed match at Harbour Walk, second listed match at Mossy Park)
MD4 - 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 - (first listed match at Melville House, second listed match at McAllister Way)
MD5 - 4 vs 2, 5 vs 1 - (first listed match at Harbour Walk, second listed match at Mossy Park)

GROUP E
Axel Heiburg - The largest town in, but not the capital of, the state of Axel Heiburg, this town is a hilly conurbation, whose trams will be of constant assistance for visitors unused to its peaks and valleys. Nicknamed the 'toothcomb' by residents on account of its steep ridges, the town is nonetheless overlooked by a large plateau on which the football stadium and fan-park will be located, as is much of the tourism industry in the town, as well as the famous university.
The fan-park will be located in Park Campus West.
Image
Named after a folk hero - the first captain of legendary boat the Argon, the boat that gave the club ther nickname - this stadium is situated below the fields and training complexes that make up the multiverse-famous Haapa-Mechelin Youth Academy. Home of the Champions' Cup holders and a trip that not many opposition teams enjoy.

Longyearbyen - Located in Svalbard, the ancient town of Longyearbyen can be traced back centuries, and it is the site of the first landing by settlers on the shores of Longyearbyen. It has a long and twisted history with Franz Josef City as well as Axel Heiburg, and is one of the biggest University-towns in the Federation.
The fan-park will be located in Roman Park Student District.
Image
With three stands open to the elements, Longyearbyen Town have created an intimidating little stadium that only the hardiest away supporter can endure during the cold nights. Fortunately for foreign visitors, all the matches at the Copa are during the summer.

Solovetsky - Also located in Svalbard, the outpost town of Solovetsky is famous for its historic monastery, which has lead to the town being a popular site of pilgrimage for those Polarians that practise Christianity. Its dedication to the religion rather than the more traditional Valhallan pantheon of gods has lead to the town carrying to this day a reputation of quaintness and individuality. A centre for the arts, as well as boasting a substantial port.
The fan-park will be located in St Olaf Place.
Image
This modern concrete construction is situated within sight of the famous monastery on the outskirts of the city. Iconically curved rooves instantly make this recognisable, and it is a nice cosy atmosphere that is created by the fans. Best hospitality outside of the capital.

Sibir - The capital of Landt Sibir, this city has been the site of countless revolutions and peoples' movements, and the heavily left leaning population have had their influence on almost all parts of city life. There is a keen rush to modernise however, with many exciting projects going up all around the city.
The fan-park will be located in Peoples' Park.
Image
The newly finished stadium was built on the side of the last one, and was only completed last summer. Hugely modern in design and coloured vivid red to match the team, it feature under-seat heating and is located on the edge of the harbour approach.

MD1 - 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 - (first listed match at Axel Torvig Park, second listed match at Sivertsson Road)
MD2 - 5 vs 3, 1 vs 2 - (first listed match at The Priory, second listed match at Uverdale Velde)
MD3 - 3 vs 1, 4 vs 5 - (first listed match at Axel Torvig Park, second listed match at Sivertsson Road)
MD4 - 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 - (first listed match at The Priory, second listed match at Uverdale Velde)
MD5 - 4 vs 2, 5 vs 1 - (first listed match at Axel Torvig Park, second listed match at Sivertsson Road)

GROUP F
Torshavn - The capital of Farosea and a famous fishing centre, Torshavn is a city upon which the oil industry has had a huge hand, with rig production almost constantly going on. In anticipation of the eventual drying of supplies, the city is also the base of Finnmakt, the largest supplier of green energy and investor in green technology in the nation, and the city as whole is actually one of the most environmentally minded. Try the fresh fish, caught daily in the clean waters around the city.
The fan-park will be located on Jakkobstrasse.
Image
An old construction that overlooks the city from atop a hill, the new Babbagian investment has seen plans for modernisation and expansion arrive on the horizon. For now, enjoy the experience.

Northbrook - Situated in an area of outstandingly beautiful if unforgiving landscape, the town of Northbrook is the largest in its state by far, and is one of the fastest growing in the Federation thanks to recent breakthroughs in meteorologically protective and preventative technologies. It is the place in the Federation you are most likely to see the northern lights, and the tourism industry is about to explode.
The fan-park will be located in Lundahl North.
Image
The pioneer for much of the elemental-protection technology that many of the other stadia in the nation use today, Palace Approach is a northerly stadium with a notoriously intimidating atmosphere. The stadium heating can be turned off seat by seat to provide a hostile base for away fans, but the nature of the Copa means they will always be on.

Severny - A huge mining hub in the nation, it is the base for ore giants Orrstar, and has a fierce rivalry with nearby Yuzhny. The construction of new bridges across the Castren Channel has benefited them both however, and it is now one of the biggest financial centres in the nation.
The fan-park will be located in Cliffside Reach.
Image
With its red seats and blue trim, an empty Carravale is one of the most distinctive sights in Polarian football. Full, it can be absolutely jumping when Red Star are doing well, and will provide a friendly welcome for all visitors.

Scapa Bay - The naval hub for the western operations of the FPI Navy, the town is growing quickly thanks to these connections. One of the last remaining oil towns in the Federation, it's wealth has financed many beautiful public buildings and plazas.
The fan-park will be located in Tolstoy Plaza.
Image
One of the few oval designs in Polarian football, Fleet Road only switched from an all-purpose athletics stadium to a football stadium at the very last moment of the design process. The design means the fans at each goal end are quite far from the goal, but the acoustic design means that there is no noticeable drop off in noise or atmosphere.

MD1 - 2 vs 5, 3 vs 4 - (first listed match at Palace Approach, second listed match at Carravale)
MD2 - 5 vs 3, 1 vs 2 - (first listed match at Taugen Park, second listed match at Fleet Road)
MD3 - 3 vs 1, 4 vs 5 - (first listed match at Palace Approach, second listed match at Carravale)
MD4 - 1 vs 4, 2 vs 3 - (first listed match at Taugen Park, second listed match at Fleet Road)
MD5 - 4 vs 2, 5 vs 1 - (first listed match at Palace Approach, second listed match at Carravale)

TICKETS
Tickets will be made available for fans of both nations, with each appropriate FA awarded 35% of the stadium capacity for each match to sell on to its respective fans. For group stage matches, visitors should contact their own FA before leaving for the Federation. Should your nation advance to the knock out stages, stay tuned for notices at fan-parks and on the news for how to get your hands on a ticket. Black market selling will absolutely not be tolerated, and every step has been taken to ensure the tickets are almost impossible both to forge, and to pass on without cancelling the previous ticket first.

GOOD LUCK, AND WE HOPE YOU ENJOY YOUR STAY!
Our land may be of ice, but our hearts are of warmth.

Darmeni National Football Team

Coaching Staff
Manager: Tim O'Donahaue
Assistant Manager: William von Kriesler
Offensive Coach: Tony Bordeck
Defensive Coach: Jason Erickson
Goalkeeping Coach: Robert Yelton
Physio: Yoram Abrahams

Style Modifier: +5
Strategies (Taken from the Oblique Stratagies of the Brevity Cup):
-Ask your body. When you're tired, and just want to give up, ask your body for more. It'll probably pay off.
-Adding on, 'cause one goal is never enough.
Formation: 3-5-2 is the first choice and will be used in just about every match. The 3-4-3 may also make some appearances.

Goalkeepers
Name Age Club
Troy Osborne 29 Eau Claire Aris FC
Kimi Siesman 22 Chippewa Falls Strykers
Thulani Daniels 31 South Darmen United
Brad Schreier 24 Rogerton Whitecaps
Brady Summon 22 Eau Claire United
Troy Osborne has been the starting goalkeeper since Adrian Kok allowed New Palmouth to score seven goals in a single game. And he's done a pretty good job. Kimi Siesman quietly sits in reserve, awaiting the day when Osborne retires, and he gets his own chance. Daniels, Schreier, and Summon probably won't see any playing time soon, but have been brought along just in case.
Defenders
Name Age Club
Mikael Adan 26 Scott City FC
Dustin Nguyen 28 Scott City FC
Charm Vue 27 Eau Claire Aris FC
Scott Rydzik 25 Eau Claire Aris FC
Oguchi Findley 22 Chippewa Falls Strykers
Johan Garza 22 Chippewa Falls Strykers
Matt Flemer 22 Rogerton Whitecaps
Arik Sikula 22 Forden
Trevor Goodwin 23 Eau Claire Aris FC
Terrence Sinapati 23 Menomonie United
Adan, Nguyen, Vue, and Rydzik are the only experienced defenders on the squad. The younger players won't get a ton of playing time, but Sinapati and Findley will see a few minutes off the bench.
Midfielders
Name Age Club
Luca Cormio 24 Scott City FC
Danny Beasley 28 Scott City FC
Tor Tong Lee 25 Scott City FC Captain
Gene Turko 22 Eau Claire United
Francisco Lyons 21st 22 Eau Claire United
Nicky Salapu 23 Menomonie United
Charles Ramirez 23 Menomonie United
Javier Zakuani 23 Brham United
Josimar Son 22 Darmen City FC
Steve Nystizor 22 Johnho FC
Maika Molesi 22 Menomonie United
The midfield is the heart of the All Greens. Cormio, Beasley, Lee, Turko, and Salapu are the starters. The calls to replace Lyons with either Salapu or Son have been answered.
Forwards
Name Age Club
Bryan Faulkner 28 Scott City FC Vice-Captain
Roberto Gregio 22 Eau Claire United
Sergio Autitore 22 Chippewa Falls Strykers
Fernando Grevsthan 22 Menomonie United
Natt Dittman 22 Forden
Adam McKay 25 Chuckio FC
Charmaine Hooper 23 Brham United
George Pele 25 Chippewa Falls Strykers
Faulkner and Gregio are technicly sound and great scorers. Autitore and Pele may see some time off the bench, and it's not rare for Tim O'Donahaue to make a double switch of the two starters for the two players from Chippewa Falls.

Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Charruterra » Mon Dec 03, 2012 7:53 am

After some events of unkown reasons. Called "the almighty tsunami that the Rushmori press didn't drae report about", someplayers are missing. They were replaced by very weird people. No-one knows who they are, why they were chosen, why they're here, where they come from and when they were born. At least that's the case with most of them. They've decided to keep he Charruterran super-offensive tradition. Do expect some crazy events during matches.

The Asociación Charruterrana de Fútbol is happy to announce their roster for WC 62:

Image
Nickname: Los Charruas
Style: (random formations every match) +4
Manager: Team is ruled by Anarchy, the strongest decides the formation

Starting XI:

GK:
Name: Mr. X
Age: ?
Team: None
Bio: Mr. X is a real mystery. People wonder who he might be, as he always carries a mask. He sometimes takes out a laser gun (which is fake) and points at players. Most of the times, this prevents them from shooting and scoring against the poor excuse of a goalkeeper he really is. Intersting way to make up for his lack of skills, indeed. Rumoured to be a previous successful, world cup-winning goalkeeper who made himself forget everything because what he knew was too much for him to carry.

CB:
Name: Marlon Suffix
Age: ?
Team: None
Bio: Suffix's life is really interesting: he once fell down the stairs on his way to work and woke up to find out his mother-in-law had taken over the world. However, he somehow managed to defeat her after a twenty-seven-years-long adventure, after which he managed to go back in time and change everything. He rewound to the exact moment where he'd fall down the stairs. However, he fell again and woke up having been called up for the Charruterran national team.

CB:
Name: Darth Rider
Age: 5
Team: None
Bio: A 5-year-old who can ride horses easily. He usually enters the pitch riding one, and his way of scoring is by making them shoot and all sucjh fancy things. In all truth, he's just lucky, but people don't notice that.

LM:
Name: Canamazán Fajú
Age: 23
Team: Helsirn CSKA (Svengarda)
Bio: Fajú, one of the few that managed to survive. He's pretty talented and, if Charruterra somehow manages to score any goal, it'd probably be thanks to him, Cloyan or Cohújaan. He plays for Svenga side Helsirn CSKA, and has won two leagues. Pretty boring guy, but if only he knew what's awaiting for him.... no-one would be able to imagine it.

CM:
Name: Marf-fahojölkilnmo
Age: 72,648
Team: None
Bio: A dragon from ancient Charruterra that recently woke up in a human body. He doesn't speak any language and can breather fire. Still doesn't know how the game works, or if he should or shouldn't attack the fans. Approach at your own risk.

CM:
Name: Ç
Age: ?
Team: None
Bio: Ç is a really important player of the team. It's a floating "Ç", but what's important about it is how it distracts the other players. Intentionally put in the center of the field, it's a good way of distracting other players. However, rumours has it that one day it'll explode and anything could happen.

RM:
Name: Nomi Nomi
Age: ?
Team: None
Bio: Nomi Nomi is a Charruterran from an uncivilzed tribe. He hasn't got a clue of what football actually is and usually starts fighting with people. Enters the pitch with really old weapons that are extremely inefective. Like rocks. He will occasionally kick the ball forward if it somehow gets to his feet. He also sometimes attacks the ball when it gets to his feet, saying it's something like a spawn of the devil.

LAM:
Name: Adeltú Cohújaan
Age: 18
Team: Yuambú SC
Bio: Another survivor. One of the few that actually knows the game and plays it professionally. Cohújaan is a really young AMC who plays as LAM for Charruterra. His playmaking abilities are incredible,a nd his long-distance shooting and dribbling as well. However, these things won't really matter if you take a look at how random the team apparently is.

CAM:
Name: Alexandria Yakushkin
Age: 45
Team: None
Bio: After meeting with a woman who spoke Charrúa, the Charruterrans decided to kidnap her and make her part of the team. They found out she was above-average when compared to some others, and ths she could get the starting position. However, some people believe the reason is because some Charruterrans are naughty, and others want to sacrifice her to Sharuujpán. Truth is, she's gonna be a starter. Despite being Polarian.

RAM:
Name: Gargantrout
Age: 2,000
Team: None
Bio: A legend in Charruterra, Gargantrout is a gargantuan trout that has lived for two millennia already. For its 2000-year birthday, it was gifted a place in the national team. Also, as congratulations for saving Charruterra from the already-mentioned event.

ST:
Name: Cloyan
Age: 27
Team: O Lajau SC
Bio: Another one who survived. The event twisted his mind so much that he's now a completely common person and isn't mentally ill. He still knows how to play football and can play really well. Will be one of the few who can actually score.

Substitutes:

GK:
Name: Shajú Ohoj
Age: 30
Team: Pacahocaf SC
Bio: Ohoj routinely takes part on ceremonies, current best goalkeeper of the LCF. However, he's not part of the Starting XI due to Mr. X turning out to concede less goals despite of how sucky he is. Extremely childish, doesn't care about being on the bench. He's already happy with having survived.

CB:
Name: The Summer Escense
Age: ?
Team: None
Bio: The Summer Escense is a non-corporeal escense of the summer that somehow can play as CB. It does pretty well, but no-one really seems to remember how, when or what happened.

CB:
Name: Chacutupú Lonjá
Age: 17
Team: Pacahocaf SC
Bio: Lonká is extremely young, and is hoping to be a sultan. If he ever gets the title, he'll replace Sultáj Zoba Má easily as he's much better and much younger than him. He's only 17 and already a starter for two-time-champions Pacahocaf SC. Plus, he survived.

CM:
Name: A Light Bulb
Age: 7 days
Team: None
Bio: Brought here from Charruterra, produced by Luces Barats INC, here's a.... light bulb? What the hell is a light bulb doing in a roster?

CAM:
Name: Star Nº 75598RY
Age: 1,643,791,812,932
Team: None
Bio: A star was also added to the roster. It's the only star discovered by a Charruterran and was picked because of that. It's believed it holds the sould of Sharuujpán, although this is completely unfounded. It's in the roster just to bring the team luck. Because, you know, they'll certainly need it.

ST:
Name: Bloyan
Age: 27
Team: O Lajau SC
Bio: Cloyan's twin also survived. Most likely sub to enter the pitch.

It sure was confusing right away. First, it was confusing for Sergey Dideriksen, who was chosen to act as a team liaison officer, yet didn't really know what was after the borders of Kitsunia-Déesse. After travelling to Fortune, where the team was training exactly at the Stade de la Déesse, home of Assiociacione du la Jeunesse du Fortune, or simply AJ Fortune, didn't really understand the Kitsunes that were filling up pretty much anything at the airport.

- Hé Segnieur! ... Dame ...? [Hey, sir! ... Miss?]
- Heh... Je suis un homme, monsieur. Bienvenue au Kitsunia-Deesse! [Heh... I'm male, sir. Welcome to Kitsunia-Deesse!]
- Je suis ici pour diriger l'équipe nationale pour la Copa Rushmori... Où sont-ils? [I'm here to take the national team to the Copa Rushmori Where are they?]
- Oh... Ils sont à l'Stade de la Déesse. Venez avec moi. Mon nom est Kin Sioux, c'est un plaisir de vous rencontrer. [Oh... They are at the Stade de la Déesse. Come with me. My name is Kin Sioux, it's a pleasure to meet you.]

As they took a bus, Dideriksen was pretty much of the odd one. In fact, one little Kitsune was looking at him, confused.

- Vous n'êtes pas habitués aux humains, non? [You people aren't used to humans, huh?]
- Plus ou moins, que certaines équipes ont déjà joué des tournois internationaux ici, nous en apprenons un peu plus sur eux. [A little, since certain teams have already participated of international tournaments, we got a little used to them.] - answered Sioux.
- Alors ... Nous sommes loin du stade? [So... Are we far from the Stadium?]
- Oh, non. Vous pouvez voir la statue là-bas en face d'elle! [Oh, no. In fact, you can even see the statue right there!]

The stadium grew on the man's eyes. Pretty architected, yet still small compared to the normal stadia that existed around the world, it wasn't hard to see it on the background. Sioux took him to the national team which, as expected, was just a bunch of Kitsunes. Well, first step made. Now here was the real problem, how to take them back to Polar Islandstates?

Les Royales Roster and Information for Copa Rushmori XII-Polar Islandstates

For Copa Rushmori XII, the Sicoutian Football Association, or the SFA, has gone with some risky picks for the team, along with the safe picks, like Girard Giroux. It appears that this team will be a "Side B" squad, while the stars like Giroux, Chris Allont, and Pier-Luc Hudon will play for a World Cup "Side A" squad, sent to events such as the Copa. Here is the full roster for Copa Rushmori XII:

Manager: Marc Denis-Lac-Drouin St-Pierre

It appears that the Polarian hosting association has given us a Liaison Officer to represent the team while in the nation. Her name is Nanna Rygg, who is 29 years old. This team is not as good as the team that finished 3rd place 4 years ago in Valladares, but will be better than the team that crashed out last Copa. With a strong performance from the defense team, we could go far. The strikers, Giroux, Allont and Savard, are expected to score most of the team's goals. Substitutes Stan Sarault, Maxime Elemanceur and Loic Lalond are coming off strong performances at the Di Bradini Cup, where Team Sicoutimont advanced to the Quarterfinals before being knocked out by Burchadinger. A good performance will be confidence for the 63rd World Cup, which will support a steady 87th world ranking. Good-luck to all players from all teams heading to Polar Islandstates, and to Team Sicoutimont. Here's hoping we can mark the start of 2017 with a bang at the Copa Rushmori!

((OOC: Same roster as the Cuppet, as usual. Fluid time etc etc))

La Selección Aquilliana :: Copa Rushmori XII

Manager: Alfredo Herrera (65 y/o)
Assistant Manager: Sergio Galindo (61 y/o)
Captain: Lemuel Tremblay
Vice-captain: Ramirez Rincon
Style of play: Very attacking. High line of pressure, with regular overloads on the flanks (+3)

RP note
The style of play, selection process and manager are all based -- with varying degrees of "looseness" -- on those of Athletic Bilbao, if that helps at all. Also, the team's focal point -- for good or bad reasons, varyingly -- is mercurial genius Alejandro Palacios. For a real life example, think of him as a sort of cross between Juan Roman Riquelme (style of play) and Mario Balotelli (for off-field crazy), but less extreme on either part (i.e. he's neither that good nor that crazy).

RP notes
I have no specific permissions regarding the team beyond "no killing, please" ... and though I'd prefer if you cleared a major injury beforehand, I can roll with it. Do as you wish, otherwise. If it helps, Aquillian is a largely conservative, somewhat-religious nation with a lingering resentment for Osarius. If you want a RL reference point, it is literally a cultural, social and political mélange of Mexico and Jamaica.
President: Horace Daley | Population: ~24 million | Capital: Genesia, Centrale

A moderately conservative, somewhat-religious nation with a lingering resentment for Osarius, their former colonial oppressors.
If you want a RL reference point, this nation is supposed to be a cultural, social and political mélange of Mexico and Jamaica.

I will sometimes RP in an approximation of Jamaican Patois. Apologies in advance ;)

Note - Dima Koolhaas used only with exclusive permission from Polar Islandstates. Linus Hynninen, I just made up.
Also: Linus's "Aunt" is a woman who treated him like family, not actually a biological aunt. Koolhaas didn't push, 'cause, well, he's too busy.

FPIFA Headquarters, Franz Josef City, Polar Islandstates

Linus Hynninen walked into the Headquarters of the FPIFA, not believing his eyes as he set his eyes on one of the most powerful men in the world in international football, Dima Koolhaas. Polar Islandstates was known as one of the foremost footballing powers in the world, with a domestic league ranking in the top three of the UICA rankings (2nd) and a national side that ranked in the top ten (8th). Yet, here Linus was, about to have his thirty-ninth birthday, being called in to see the President of the FPIFA.

Koolhaas seemed to be a relaxed yet composed figure. He looked up, saw Linus, and motioned for him to sit down on the chair in front of him.

Linus's long, blonde hair made a swish as it rubbed against the back of the chair, making him fidget. Although a tall man of two meters, with an athletic build and a good-looking countenance, Linus was a shy man who was very respectful in public and minded his manners to a t. He sat and awaited patiently for Koolhaas to speak.

"Mr. Hynninen, of Jan Mayen, Norscelt, born in Franz Josef City, is it?" inquired Koolhaas, matter-of-factly.

"Yes, Sir," replied Hynninen.

"Mr. Hynninen, are you aware of the fact that the FPIFA has taken upon itself the task of hosing the twelfth Copa Rushmori?" continued Koolhaas.

"Yes, Sir. I think that it is a wonderful move by the FPIFA and the country as a whole," answered Hynninen.

"Well, thank you, but I wasn't asking for your opinion on the matter. We are thinking of trying a new approach in helping the visitors to our nation in this Copa. I am instituting a policy where a liaison will be assigned to every team that is coming to our nation, to guide the team around our nation, to act as an interpreter, and help with whatever else that team needs," explained Koolhaas.

Hynninen burrowed his eyebrows in thought, and replied, "That seems like a genius idea, Sir. But may I ask, why have you brought me here? I am just a linguistics teacher in Jan Mayen."

"Is it true that you received your undergraduate degree in Linguistics at Pyria State University in Pyria, Gyron, Falconfar? And that you went to graduate school in Iona Spaceport University in Iona, Falconfar to get your graduate degree in Falconfarian native languages?" read Koolhaas, reading from a file.

"Yes. I did. My aunt has a business in Falconfar, and I was interested in their culture, and I got accepted there. I did get my linguistics degree from PSU and my graduate school degree in ISU. But what has that have to do with anything?" said Hynninen quizzically.

"One of the nations that are coming to our country is Falconfar. They have told us that they are sending a team that has the Halil'Quan beastlings this time, as well as the Xe'Notl. Apparently, their government is instituting a policy that there must be at least some of all three races in the team. You're the only person that's worked at least part time for the FPIFA that has any knowledge of Falconfarian culture or languages. We need you to take this job, Mr. Hynninen. We're willing to pay a handsome price and make sure that your family and children will be taken care of. Will you take the job and help out your nation?" Koolhaas's voice rose as he came to the point of the meeting.

Hynninen stared at Koolhaas, a bit shocked as he took in what the Federation's President was saying. Then, after taking a deep breath, he replied, "Sir, I don't have any family. My parents passed away in a car accident when I was a lad of fifteen, and I am a only child. My parents were also both only children, and my grandparents all passed away a few years back. I never married due to not believing in women, and I live alone, just teaching at the local high school. As for Falconfar - I've been there, done that. I don't want to deal with them again..."

"Mr. Hynninen, if you do not take this job, there will be no one else in the Federation that can, except for some undergraduate students who have taken the same route that you have. You don't want me to go talk to them, do you? I don't know about what's occurred to you in the past in Falconfar, but you need to put that behind you and move on. We need you to do this, because frankly, there is no one else that knows about our nation that can get the job," implored Koolhaas.

Hynninen sighed deeply. In a resigned voice, he stated, "All right, Sir. I will. When do I leave?"

Koolhaas brightened up, and replied, "You are to go to the Eastern border of Civil Citizenry and take the Space Bridge up to Falcon. The team will be waiting for you there to take them to our nation. A flight has been chartered to take the team from the Bridge to Franz Josef City."

Hynninen got up, and bowed. He asked, "Anything else, Sir?"

"Just our fullest thanks, Mr. Hynninen. This means a lot to us. Best of luck, and represent our nation well."

Hynninen went out of the office and got on the next plane to Jan Mayen. He had a bag to pack.
The Palace of the Diamond Cliffs, Irswabi, Falcon, Falconfar

"Miss Newson, you look so well these days. I am so glad that you have recovered from that dreadful incident," came the voice of the Queen of Falconfar, Isildil, to Imara Newson's ears in the Palace of the Diamond Cliffs.

"Your Majesty, thank you. I do feel a lot better these days, although some pain lingers," replied Newson.

"What do you think of what I asked of you to do for this new squad in the Copa Rushmori?" asked Isildil.

Newson's reply was curt and brief. "I think it was brilliant, your Majesty. You put the political complaints to rest, and you made it so that they could be reserves, so that the integrity of the team isn't breached. I'll make sure to play them - they are the best of their races, after all - and get the most out of them that I can."

"Any prospects of how far you'll go this time? The nation is still glowing from the run we had in the last World Cup," remarked the Queen.

"Hopefully at least to the Quarterfinals, your Majesty. Any more than that, I can't speak of just yet," replied Newson.

"Well, good luck," stated the Queen, then got back on the phone.

Newson went out of the office, to a meeting room, where her 22 players were waiting.

There they were, in order:

Goalkeeper: #1 Jacques Didier, Iona Spaceport Defenders (29) CAPTAIN
Defender: #3 Sharon Tundai, Pyria Thunder (33)
Defender: #11 Jack Qaiso, La Pinatra Crusaders (26)
Defender: #24 Thaddeus Lewis, Iona Spaceport Defenders (27)
Defender: #17 Patrick Stewart, Pyria Thunder (29)
Midfielder: #33 Natasha Myiavic, Iriwati Panthers (27)
Midfielder: #41 Henri Toval, Vititi Paladins (26)
Forward: #22 Harold Nehafsaim, Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth) (25)
Forward: #9 Loria Votmk, Pyria Thunder (37)
Forward: #10 Jerôme Nasaic, New Irswabi Red (28)
Forward: #51 Nigel Rayon, Iriwati Panthers (29)

And the reserves:

Goalkeeper: #2 Ha-Ni Jukanoi (21)
Defender: #4 Morok Japoi (23)
Defender: #6 Ju-Kai Inosoi (24)
Defender: #8 Hurok Mi (23)
Defender: #99 Mi-Ka Ju (24)
Midfielder: #81 Hans Jokavin (23)
Midfielder: #80 Miriam Jason (22)
Forward: #79 Kasai Liamon (21)
Forward: #77 Himino Onasimo (22)
Forward: #61 Brian Ho (22)
Forward: #57 Jackson Barnett (20)

Eleven proven players. Eleven excited newbies. And her job? Coach them all.

"All right, folks. We'll be meeting our liaison from Polar Islandstates tomorrow at noon, and make the journey to Civil Citizenry via the Space Bridge and then to Polar Islandstates. So, enjoy your last day in our capital city, and I want you in the meeting room at eleven sharp. Okay?" interjected Newson.

"Yes, Ma'am. What was the name of our liaison again?" asked Sharon Tundai.

"Linus Hynninen," replied Newson.

"WHAT? Linus Hynninen?!?!" exclaimed Sharon, making everyone turn around at her, for she was never this animated.

"Yes. Why, do you know him?" asked Jacques Didier.

"He was a graduate student at Iona Spaceport University while I went there..." said Sharon, her voice trailing off. Then, embarrassed, she walked out of the room.

There was an awkward silence. Then, Harold Nehafsaim quipped, "I wonder what's in the past between them?"

Newson answered, "I think we're about to find out soon. Now, everyone, dismissed."

The warm Irswabi air enveloped the players as they went out to enjoy the day before their venture to Rushmore, Polar Islandstates, and international football.

Cold. Incredible, unbearable, horrible cold.

It was the only thing Timothy O'Donahaue could think of as he stepped off the plane. He also noticed that several of the IG-2 agents that were accompanying the team were already carrying off some fan.

He turned to the agent next to him, "What's that?" he asked.

"Not sure, but apparently someone not affiliated with the airline knew we were coming."

"That's bad?"

"Dad, have you ever been greeted by anyone when traveling abroad?" asked Major Donald O'Donahaue, IG-2 All Green's Security Detachment.

"Erm, no, never have now that you say that."

The team boarded the bus to their hotel, but Donald held his father back. The two men entered into the airport, where in a back room two agents stood guard over the man who had been detained. He looked to be middle aged, and was definately a native Polarian.

"What's your name?" asked Donald, bending over to look the Polarian in the eyes.

"Oyvind Balanchine."

"How old are you?"

"45."

"What's your occupation?"

"I work for the FPIFA."

"The who?" asked Donald.

"That's a band son," interupted Donald's father. "The FPIFA is the Polarian Football Association."

"I see," said Donald, "anyways, what were you doing at the airport?"

"The FPIFA sent me. I'm your Team Liaison Officer."

"Oh, woops," said Donald, "forgot about that. Anyways, ah, my apoligies. We should probably head to the hotel know."

The five men piled into an SUV, and took off towards the hotel. The SUV had arrived in the country only days before, but the tires hadn't been changed in years.

"Crap," said Donald as he spun the wheel, straightning the SUV after it had hit a patch of ice. "Someone tell HQ to put this into the budget for next year, this thing really needs new tires. The vehicle slipped and slid all the way until it stopped in front of the hotel. Already Timothy O'Donahaue could tell something was wrong. And then, he saw it.

The hotel's front doors slid open. Out came Tor Tong Lee, wearing nothing but his cleets and shorts, sprinting past his coach, followed by the rest of the team.

"Um, Donald, you better get your guys after them. Let them have their fun, just don't let them get into any trouble. And if they start playing a game in the highway like they did a while back, just stop all the traffic, they'll move. Oh, and I want them back here by sundown."

"Er, dad, there's 24 hours of sunlight here for the time being."

"Make that 9pm then."

"You got it."

Zandistani Men's National Team

After a promising World Cup 62 Qualifying campaign, the ZNFA is looking for several new faces to perhaps improve their team with youthful talent in the 63rd World Cup. Many of the veteran faces that the world and the Zandistani fans have become accustomed to will not be appearing, with the exception of a rehabbing Flavio Domingo. While Rushmori glory is a long term goal of the squad, this early in their international presence they seek to build for the future.

STARTING XI

GK - 18 - age 29 - Wilfried Thomas (rostered BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62, CoH 54, uncapped)
Thomas has appeared on every international Zandistani team, but has never appeared in a game. He is widely regarded as a horrible keeper but the coaches want to see how he performs on an international level.

RB - 2 - age 26 - Cameron Wills (capped WCQ 62)
Wills would have been on the BoF 48-winning roster and the team sent to the qualifiers if not for a horrific injury to his right tibia. He performed well off the bench in recovery during WCQ62 and will see more starting time as Zandistan looks for a future right-back.

CB - 15 - age 22 - Ing Steen (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62, CoH 54)
Steen, while a member of Zandistan’s top squad from age 17, Steen made some inexperienced mistakes in recent tournaments and the ZNFA would like to see if he can learn and apply his experience.

CB - 5 - age 26 - Josué Calderón (capped WCQ 62, CoH 54)
Calderón received experience off the bench behind Kalamazoo, but the coaches want to see how he and Steen jell in a starting role together.

LB - 3 - age 19 - Elemir Katona (new)
Katona looks to be the new Zandistani left-back once Bunfogle ages, and he hopes to seize this opportunity for region-wide glory.

CDM - 6 - age 26 - Melreund Mingot (capped in WCQ 61, 62, CoH 54)
Always a weak link in the top Zandistani midfield, the staff would like to see him gain some more international experience.

LCM - 23 - age 27 - Melbrue Tangari (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
A transplanted winger who often loses the ball in central midfield’s tight spaces, the coaches want to give him more experience to improve his performance for future World Cups.

RCM - 10 - age 24 - Kirk Waldimer (capped WCQ 62, CoH 54)
Waldimer is an attacking center midfield who can potentially play forward as well, but as long as Domingo is playing, this A-team substitute will be starting in central midfield.

LWM - 17 - age 18 - Otherico Tarmarok (new)
Tarmarok is another member of the extremely youthful left side of Zandistan’s formation, but he has stellar, flashy talent, coupled with near-McRae-like speed on the wing.

ST - 9 - age 24 - Flavio Domingo (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
After suffering a crushing injury to his lower leg, Domingo is still healing and returning to full strength, and will start for this Copa Rushmori.

RWM - 20 - age 23 - Jimmy-Phillip McRae (capped in BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62)
Easily the fastest member of the team, McRae is young and speedy and loves breaking down the wing. Though an experienced player, the coaches would like to further observe his youth.

Substitutes:

GK - 1 - age 20 - Turmo Valbizax
Valbizax knows he is unlikely to see a lot of full-squad starting time, but if Thomas makes large errors, he could find himself playing a fair amount this Copa Rushmori.

LB - 3 - age 28 - Avisajj Bunfogle (capped BoF 48, WCQ 61, 62, CoH 54)
Bunfogle does not expect to see any time, but if the young backs need a veteran presence backing them up, he will enter.

CB - 4 - age 19 - Chavo Valbuena
Another young center back of Zandistan’s, but they really have no tradition as a defending team and are searching for long term answers in the back. He could be one, or he might not.

CM - 16 - age 16 - Quintius Tarmarok
Otherico’s younger brother, one of the youngest, Quintius is known for his impeccable control in the middle, but was deemed too young to earn a starting spot here.

RM - 21 - age 19 - Issimir Marcoy
Marcoy will likely see good playing time as the coaches know what McRae can do. He could also be shifted to left winger, as the coaches want to see how wide his range of skill is.

ST - 11 - age 18 - Laszlo Shram
Shram is like a younger Domingo, perhaps with less innate talent but more solidly built, with a knack for goal.

ST - 13 - age 20 - Lancelot Jones
Jones is formidable at the point of attack, but with Domingo and Shram ahead of him, he may see more time as a substitute on the wing.

Zandistan plays a 4-5-1 with wingers on the attack pushing it into a blazing 4-3-3 offense

COACHING STAFF

Head Coach - Drago Vilisević
He infuses energy into his players constantly and the team views him as the perfect coach. He has perfected a blazing midfield winger attack, and hopes his star striker back will return to star form. Still, the inexperienced defense could use some work.

Copa Rushmori XII

Home / Away / Keeper

Coach

Martín Tejera
Once regarded as one of the very best goalkeepers in world football when he was one of many foreign stars plying their trade in Cafundéu. Former Sargossan international who cut his coaching teeth at home town club Estrella Torreón before leading Nuevo Onwere into the SuperLiga. That achievement earned him a move across the city to Sporting San Marquez, where he has masterminded successive title wins.

Assistant Coaches

Principal coaching staff remain, providing much needed continuity. Meaning Hernán Ojeda holds on to an assistant coach slot while Israel Navarro continues to work with the goalkeepers and Javier Valentín oversees the fitness work. But Tejera’s long-time collaborator Carlos Tesero is added to the back room team, as is his former international team mate Ernesto Farías who juggles senior squad duties with his current role as Under-21 coach.

Talent

GK: 1. José Antonio Leiva (35) - Scott City FC (Darmen)
Renowned locally as a safe pair of hands. A succession of consistent campaigns saw the keeper attract interest overseas and he's since headed for a new challenge in Darmen.
GK: 13. Cristian Deballa (32) - Dunas Del Sol
Boasts the fastest reflexes in the SuperLiga which would make him an instant starter were it not for the occasional devastating lapse in concentration.
GK: 25. Fernando Surza (33) - Jaguarés
Decent goalkeeper. Collects Koi Carp, which is nice.

DR: 2. Toni Siqueira (30) - Ciudad Soluca
Gallivanting right sided fallback with pace to burn and technique that comes from being half Cafundelense.
DRC: 5. Leandro Gonzàlez (26) - El Nacional
Former captain of the Under-21 side who has become an integral member of the senior squad. Has become the youngest El Nacional captain in their history.
DLC: 6. Matías Cardozo (27) – El Nacional
Snapped up from lower league Rayo Camei to form an imposing SuperLiga defensive partnership with Gonzàlez. A partnership former coach Erassi hoped to recreate for the national side.
DL: 3. Lautaro Formica (25) – Sporting San Marquez
The second son of Marquezian immigrants who couples sound defensive instincts with a wand of a left foot. Clocked up twelve goals from set pieces last season.
DC: 12: Juan Delgado (35) - Sporting San Marquez
One club man who is something of a legend in his native San Marquez. Few read the game better but he sprints like a someone wading through treacle.
DC: 14. Bruno Trejo (30) - Ciudad Soluca
A late bloomer who in the space of five years has gone from the third tier to become one of the nation's most accomplished defenders. But a shaky first season in Soluca has seen him drop down the pecking order.
DLC: 19. Luis Parra (31) - Scott City FC (Darmen)
Primarily a left back but has the attributes to fairly effortless drop into the centre, versatility much admired by the new coach.
DR: 21: Gonzalo Soriano (25) - El Nacional
Pacy rightback with a devil of a cross on him. Has a good understanding with club mate Gonzàlez and will push Siqueira hard for a starting berth.

DMC: 4. Lucas Ramís (24) – Sporting San Marquez
Key member of a Sporting side looking increasingly formidable in the SuperLiga.
AMR: 7. Andrés Guerrón (32) - Chastings Heights (Civil Citizenry)
Wing wizard with pace that wouldn't look out of place at the Olympics. The onus will be on him to push forward to support the big men up front.
MC: 8. Luís Ángel Landín (34) - Alianza Jucaro
Consistently one of the SuperLiga's most, well, consistent performers. Offers a neat and tidy range of passing and the ability to dictate the Corsairs' tempo.
AML: 11. Alejandro Echeverría (30) - Ciudad Soluca
This boy's a bit special and we're not talking in the crash helmet and crayons sense. Stick him anywhere in the attacking third and he can make something happen. Handed the captain's armband by Tejera.
AMRC: 15. Matías Montiel (30) - Vincanto (Erathore)
Ridiculously talented playmaker who hits a dream of a freekick and could conceivably thread a ball through the eye of a needle. Was just a little lightweight for Erassi's preferred blend of powerplay but could benefit greatly from the change in coach.
MRC: 16. Hugo Messina (33) - Alianza Jucaro
A consistent domestic performer with a neat array of passing and a passion for flamenco dancing. We're not sure how that helps.
MLC: 18. Kike Galán (23) – Sporting San Marquez
Miniature midfield dynamo whose influence in the centre often belies his diminutive stature.
DMC: 22. Ignacio Caballero (28) - Ciudad Soluca
A midfielder destroyer who fought off a tonne of attacking talent to take last season's SuperLiga player of the year award.
AMLC: 24. Sebastian Leto (31) - Sporting San Marquez
Scorer of last year's SuperLiga goal of the season, a 40 yard thunderbolt against Juventudé. Tricksy winger who provides left sided backup for Echeverría.

FLC: 9. Gelson Di Santo (20) – Ciudad Soluca
A real find from the Ciudad academy who scored nine goals in the final twelve league fixtures last season as his club lifted the title. Can play up front or wide on the left.
FC: 10. Alejandro Martinuccio (30) - Astograth University (Astograth)
A goal happy target man who has recently being doing the rounds of club football in Astograth. He’s now surfaced at domestic champions Astograth University. Which is much less confusing.
FC: 17. Mariano Estrada (23) – Sporting San Marquez
Twenty five goals last season says it all for the forward widely seen as the heir apparent to recently retired goal-getter Celso Esquivel.
FLC: 20. Carlos Montero (25) - Dínamo Maturín
The youth coaches at the Ciudad Deportiva are no strangers to unearthing gems and Carlos is the latest to excel for the Dínamo first team.
FRC: 23. Lucas Andrada (29) - Turoki Tide (Vilita)
A talented lad plucked from SuperLiga midtable obscurity by sharp eyed V-League scouts. Now plying his trade in Turoki after spells at Kiiarana and Yeaddin Owls. Helped his club to victory at the 40th Globe Cup and subsequent AlfaCredit Super Cup. Which probably constitutes a good season.

Style
A fluid 4-3-3 in possession, a more solid 4-5-1 without the ball. Probable starting eleven (Listed L to R)
Leiva -- Formica - Gonzàlez - Cardozo - Soriano -- Galán - Ramís - Montiel -- Echeverría - Estrada - Andrada

"Of course I want to stay this is my job. Is my job safe?"

"Yeah of course it is, you're the manager, and that's not the reason I brought you in. After we've revamped the league system, we thought it was time for a... change in the national team."

"What do you mean change?"

"Well a lot of people thought that the league teams needed people in the national team, and I've just come back from a meeting that has decided that the national team will now have people from the clubs in the team."

"Yeah that sounds good, what's wrong with that?"

"A lot of the players wanted to leave the squad if this went through, and this is the new teamsheet..."

Just a quick OOC note.
The host/stadium information has all been updated above, and this is doubling up as a time stamp post.
Regardless of your time zone and how difficult it may be for you to work out compared to GMT - the group stage draw will take place (and therefore the contribution 'seeding' cutoff will happen) in just under TWENTY SIX HOURS from this point.

Given the time it was perhaps no surprise that the team liaison officer for Ancharmunn was easy to spot in the arrivals hall of Franz Josef International Airport. Despite the near broad daylight a series of delays had seen the Aer Ancharine flight touch down after midnight. Despite this Oleg Grondahl seemed genuine in his bubbly manner when the group of 35 or so footballers and staff he would be chaperoning around the Polar Islandstates for the duration of the Copa Rushmori.

“Ah, yr ydych wedi gwneud yma yn ddiogel, ardderchog! Croeso, croeso!”

The none-Aelsh among the squad exchanged quizical looks with each other. They recognised the language Oleg was speaking, but most didn't understand it, save for one or two words. The confusion was probably best explained by the sign of the type used at airports worldwide that he was clinging to.

'Aels & Ancharmunn football team' it read in English.
Below that it read 'Tîm pêl-droed Ymrae a Maernoffa'.

For some reason, perhaps an error in translation, the order in the title of the Ancharmunn and Aels football team had been switched and with that came the presumption of Aels being the predominant partner. With that the team had been assigned an Aels Welsh speaker as their liaison officer and one who seemed insistent on speaking that language, despite English sharing official status in Polar Islandstates and both the Tynealan nations.

Nonetheless despite this misunderstanding Oleg seemed a decent enough bloke and one excited to be guiding a squad of professional footballers around his country at that. Fortunately Aelsh midfielder Alun Jenkins was able and willing to step us as an intermediary between the Tynealan squad and their.... intermediary. Perhaps not so fortunately for a group felling the effects of a long and exhausting flight Oleg was immdiatly keen to show off the sights of Franz Josef City.

“Nawr eich bod chi yma, mae'n rhaid i chi brofi cropian Rötmetramsit!” the relatively squat Polarian exclaimed whilst gestering excitidly to a purply labeled sign for the 'Rehdahl'.

As would become a familar occurance the non-Aels Welsh speaking players and staff looked to Jenkins for clarification.

“Erm, I think he's saying we need to do something called the 'Rötmetramsit crawl'.”

Coach: Joachim Schwartz, 51
Record in Charge: P57 W38 D13 L6 F103 A42 GD+61
Sol Kirkkegaard's shoes have been tough to fill, but Joachim Schwartz has well and truly earned the right to hold his head alongside his former boss as a top manager of the Terns. After winning the Copa Rushmori, he adjusted his team slightly, pulled up his suit jacket, and braced himself for the World Cup campaign, making the quarter finals to break the Terns' duck of Second Round knockouts in recent tournaments, only going out unluckily on penalties to the Auld Enemy. So with a little complacency perhaps beginning to creep in, he took the same team to the next Copa Rushmori, where again, as holders, the Terns were knocked out unceremoniously. He sent a young and inexperienced team to the Brevity Challenge Cup in Wight under the stewardship of Gregorz van der Riise as a result, and with that team finishing as runners-up in the tournament, it has left him with lots to think about when it comes to team selection for the qualifying campaign. After his hardline defensive tactical decision in World Cup 62 lead to criticism from all corners, despite the Terns' progression to the second round, he will be loosening things up a bit and allowing the attackers to show their claws a bit more in this younger and more inexperienced side that he will be fielding at the Copa, hoping that home advantage will negate the relative inexperience in certain areas that have been caused by injuries.

Schwartz is hard-nosed and tough to win over. He values loyalty and hard work more than flair and showboating, so if you keep your nose clean and work hard you'll go far in his estimations. He formerly pushed hard for the inclusion of wingers in the Terns squad, but in his quest to deliver a passing defensive game he has sacrificed them from the squad once more as he seeks to show off all the tactical knowledge that he absorbed during his time as Kirkkegaard's assistant. He was justly rewarded for his faith in youth once before, and so the inclusion of a bit of fresh energy to shake up the side will be seen as a move he is more than capable of doing. There are a few players getting a bit long in the tooth this tournament as well, so there may well be another 'generation change' on the horizon yet. What he's concentrating on for now, however, is a successful and fulfilling home tournament.

Assistants:
First Team Coach: Johannes Kallstrom, 43
Fitness Coach: Duncan Kanchelskis, 46
Opposition Scout: Matteus Sigurdsson, 51

After Kirkkegaard left, Schwartz elected to keep much the same coaching and fitness squad intact. However, with an opening for his own former assistant job now in need of filling, he chose to place greater responsibility upon the shoulders of three of his most trusted colleagues. Between them, they are in charge of three of the most crucial parts of Schwartz's plan: tactical understanding and discipline, levels of fitness that exploit the natural hardiness and stamina of Polarians, and an in-depth knowledge and analysis of the oppositions' strengths and weaknesses. They will all three of them be involved heavily with Schwartz at one stage of the match preparation routine or another, though it would be hard to point at any one of them and label him Schwartz's "number two."

#1 - GK - Jan Rasmus - Age 32 - FC Axel Heiburg - 32 Caps
From his early days at the U-21s squad, it was clear to all that Jan Rasmus has talent. After several seasons working the penalty area at FC Axel Heiburg and becoming a real goalkeeper you can trust, he finally has the silverware to back up his talents as FC Axel Heiburg took the Divisjon One title for the second time last season, following it up with a Champions' Cup victory. A backup to Gammel for many seasons, this lanky goalkeeper is now the first choice and will be the last line of defence in Schwartz's masterplan. The last Copa was a good start to his time as the Terns' number one, however short that may end up being, but this next one at home will be the biggest challenge yet.

#2 - DR - Zacharias Juul - Age 30 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 116 Caps, 6 Assists, 9 Goals
So often seen bombing down the wing in support of the attackers or simply on a distracting run that defenders have to cope with, Juul has truly blossomed under the new tactical regime implemented by Schwartz, turning from a dependable and solid right-back with an attacking twist into a full-on attacking wing-back. He is fast, a natural leader, has almost single-handedly turned around Jan Mayen Islanders' fortunes on the pitch, and calm and confident on the ball, and will be one of the most consistent performers in the side, week-in, week-out, launching attack after attack up the right wing as required to by the formation being played. With his hundredth cap safely in his pocket, he can now move towards consolidating his own personal place in the Terns' hall of fame.

#3 - DC - Julius Oyen-Spekke - Age 27 - East Franz Athletic - 53 Caps, 5 Assists, 3 Goals
Quietly putting in matchwinning performances isn't easy in the Federation League, where every move is scrutinised and caught on camera, but playing for a club outside the big four has helped. Oyen-Spekke is a young defender upon many hopes rest, and his promotion to the starting XI was once upon a time seen as something of a risk by Schwartz, however daft that may sound now. He hasn't looked back since, and following disappointing results for Resolute Storm he has moved for big money to title-chasing East Franz Athletic for next season. His agility and ability in the air is almost unmatched, and for sheer athleticism he'll be hard to beat, particularly as he is a huge threat in the opposition box as well.

#4 - DC - Torre Urfstadt - Age 30 - Club ESF (Valanora) - 108 Caps, 2 Assist, 3 Goals
Urfstadt is one of the most exciting players to come from the Torshavn ranks in a long time, and he was a crucial part of Torshavn's continued presence in Divisjon One and a vital component in their Cygnus Cup winning squad, and they've never quite replaced him since his move to Valanora. Fast, powerful, and one of the shining lights in the Terns' crown, he is a truly formidable defender - the likes of which the Federation hasn't seen since Niko Marek. Expect his 6'8" frame to be a danger in the opposing penalty box as well.

#5 - DL - Kohev Küngas-Vaga - Age 22 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 20 Caps, 3 Assists, 2 Goals
Impressed as the U-21s captain despite going out in the group stages of the DBC, this defender is well known and trusted by van der Riise, so it was no surprise to see him at the Brevity Challenge Cup. One of only two players to play in each and every match of that campaign, Kohev is combative and battling left-back, though in truth he can play anywhere across the back five players, and this youthful enthusiasm and adaptability is something that Schwartz will be able to make good use of, I'm sure. Moving to the first team as a result of Edvar Folke's hamstring tear, his athleticism will be called upon to offer support and attacks from down the left side, and this is a big break he will be sure to take.

#6 - DMC - Jorgen Hauge - Age 34 - FC Axel Heiburg - 188 Caps, 27 Assists, 19 Goals - CAPTAIN
Every good national side needs a solid and inspiring captain, as well as a player so full of patriotic zeal and fervour that he will put his body on the line in the name of the team time after time. For the Terns, both of these players is Jorgen Hauge. His marauding hatchet-man presence in front of the defence means attackers can't relax for a second, and Jorgen, who is impressively large even by Polarian standards, now has a fearsome international reputation that has led to him being given the captain's armband - such is the level of importance he holds for the Terns. If he does his job correctly, it allows others to do theirs more easily, and he sees everything that happens on the pitch. Under the guidance of Schwartz and Kanchelskis he has improved his fitness and his mobility greatly, and as such he operates in one of the two crucial pivot positions of Schwartz's tactical revolution as the fulcrum for the 'defensive triangle'. In defence he is a glorified libero, and in attack he becomes a deep-lying playmaker. Not bad with and from set pieces, either, and perhaps out of sheer longevity more than anything else, his tally of seventeen goals for the Terns from defensive midfield actually puts him in the all-time top ten Terns scorers. Moving back from Zarbli to finish his career in the Federation, Hauge has joined Champions' Cup holders the Argonauts for next season.

#7 - MC - Niko Lepka - Age 28 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 69 Caps, 38 Assists, 6 Goals
Not many would have expected such an experienced and calm reader of the game to reside in a body so young at the time, however, Sol Kirkkegaard saw the talent this young midfielder has to bring the table, and brought him in in repeated squads as he did with van Sorensen, hoping to see the same results. After a number of short cameos offered mere tasters of what he is capable of, he managed to secure a more permanent position and has since thrived under Schwartz's regime. Playing for Atletik Thessia and RVA before moving to Jan Mayen, he was well experienced and highly thought of in both Mytannion and Erathore before his subsequent move to the Islanders, who utilise his talents in a three man compact attacking midfield. He likes to give as good as he gets, physically speaking, but his real skill lies with distribution, and he is seen as the successor to Demarchelier.

#8 - MC - Marten Cornelius - Age 25 - FC Axel Heiburg - 13 Caps, 4 Assists, 1 Goal
Cornelius comes into the squad having been an inspiring presence for the U-21s in the past, as well as some impressive game-changing performances for Axel Heiburg recently as he was another key member of their title-winning side. Two assists in his first five caps for the Terns gave glimpses of a fine midfielder with excellent vision, and despite playing a more attacking role similar to Lepka's, we see him replacing the injured Jorge-Franz Bru here today. His inspirational midfield performance against Yuba United in the final of the Champions' Cup, pinging passes left right and centre as the Silver-Blues had no answer to his output, shows us that he's perhaps the closest thing we've got to a replacement for Alexsandr van Sorensen's driving midfield creativity in the face of Vladimir Konovalov's absence.

#9 - ST - Ellis Elmsvikur - Age 29 - Royal Rumiatzi (Astograth) - 75 Caps, 9 Assists, 41 Goals
Imposing and athletic, Elmvikur is the complete package. Fast, nimble, packed with stamina, a dead ball ace, good in the air, and with a lethal shot, he can play as both a poacher or as a supporting striker. You name it, he can do it, has done it, and will continue to do it. Very highly thought of in the Iturributan league, he nonetheless ditched Iturributa for the Astograthi league in the form of Timo Skye's former side, Royal Rumiatzi, and justified his huge transfer fee to the world with some impressive performances since, including scoring the Terns' first ever hat trick in the World Cup finals. Opposition defences will have to mark him down as one to watch, with more than one goal in two for the Terns so far despite their defensive outlook last World Cup, and he will be a key part of Terns side for a while yet.

#10 - AMC - Alexsandr van Sorensen - Age 31 - AS Bezieres (Valladares) - 180 Caps, 70 Assists, 80 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
Shining light of the side Alexsandr is now just turning thirty-one, and at his best he can be devastatingly untouchable. Played a vital role for Jan Mayen before his move to Cafundéu where he played for Petardos S/A after CR Submiria, and is now making waves with Valladar club AS Bezieres in the Super League. Suffers from rare brain condition synaesthesia, meaning his senses get muddled up in his head, but manages to not let this affect his attractive attacking play - indeed if anything it appears to help him. Having played as a midfielder for Petardos S/A, Joachim Schwartz has made full use of this natural tendency of Alexsandr's and placed upon his shoulders the other crucially important role in his tactical scheme - taking up the pivotal trequartista role behind the strikers in the 'attacking triangle', and acting as a midfielder when the side has to defend. Almost certainly an all-time legend already, he is without a doubt the Terns' key player at this tournament, and indeed he probably will be until he retires. Speaking of which, at thirty-one years old now, if the Terns are going to use one of the best players in the world (probably) to propel them to a record third Copa title, they haven't got many chances left.

#11 - ST - Vadim Illich-Svitych - Age 22 - FC Axel Heiburg - 16 Caps, 4 Goals
Sending both Jagr and Illich-Svitych to Wight saw the latter find his range with explosive style in his first match off the bench, and he was frequently brought on to terrorise defences late in the game after that. He has had a couple of outstanding seasons in the Federation League, quite rightly catching the eye as FC Axel Heiburg lifted the title twice, and this young striker with the dazzlingly good ball skills will seek to continue his hot streak here. Diedrich Kvitchenko's injured shoes will be tough to fill, if only temporarily, but if anyone is well placed to do so, it is Vadim Illich-Svitych.

#12 - GK - Piotr Hemjann-Bezelhov - Age 28 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 8 Caps, 1 Assist
Twenty-eight is still plenty young for a goalkeeper, and you'll be sure to be hearing the tongue-twisting name of Hemjann-Bezelhov for a long time, yet. Taking over the first gloves at Jan Mayen since Mathias Marek's sudden move abroad had been something of a baptism of fire for the keeper, but his reflexes and speed off his line have kept him right and his performances have dragged the Ospreys back into title contention as a result.

#13 - GK - Artemiusz Korzhanenko - Age 22 - SK Franz Josef City - Uncapped
After some strong performances for the u-21s, Korzhanenko is handed the chance to make his first Terns cap in this home tournament just as he captures the number one jersey at SK. Nigh on unbeatable when challenging for the ball in the box, he also has a great record in penalty shoot outs, and he will continue the Polarian tradition of tongue-twisting goalkeepers here.

#14 - DMC - Iulian Finnibaturinn - Age 30 - Urbizania Wanderers (Astograth) - 58 Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals
Having just left Surtsey to go to Astograth with the aim of bursting back into the Terns team, I don't think even Iulian Finnibaturinn was expecting the speed of his return to be quite so swift. With Einmark up in the air a little at the moment as he makes his move abroad, the stage was set for the former Surtsey midfielder to steal to the show, and with a series of impressive leadership performances en route to the Brevity Challenge Cup final, that's exactly what Finnibaturinn has managed. An experienced pair of legs to bring on if required, having won the Champions' Cup with Urbizania.

#15 - DL - Fabian Vaaraniemi - Age 19 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla - Uncapped
First team call ups don't come much younger than this, and the hopes are high in the Federation that the young Flotilla left-back is a future star of the first team. Challenging Kungas-Vaga for the starting position will be first on Vaaraniemi's list of things to do however, but given the chance he'll be itching to show off his ball skills and wicked left footed free kicks.

#16 - DR - Alexander Hesjedal - Age 21 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - Uncapped
For another of the young players called up through injury to more established players, see here. Hesjedal has been in the Northbrook first team for a while now, and has captured the nation's imagination with some commanding performances at the DBC. Dima Pedersen will be disappointed to have missed out through lack of fitness, but the coaches are sure that Hesjedal is more than a worthy replacement understudy for Zacharias Juul. Known as 'the Snowstorm' to his affectionate fans, he is notable for being albino.

#17 - MC - Eyvindur Sudesval - Age 26 - SK Franz Josef City - 27 Caps, 2 Assists, 2 Goals
Having captained the u-21s in the past, Sudesval came to the senior side with a wealth of experience already in his back pocket. Confident in his own abilities, he lets his football do the talking, and this quiet individual can often be seen practising alone if left to his own devices. Strong in the air and full of potential, his fitness levels are astonishing, able to run end to end for 120 minutes if needed to, therefore making him a perfect payer for Schwartz's system. Boasts a powerful thunderbolt of a shot as well as some developing ability to control and dictate a match, he's a pro all-round midfielder, which is exactly why SK have brought him back from Saugeais in an effort to fix their lack of weight in the middle of the park. If Cornelius and Lepka prove to be too top heavy a midfield partnership we may well see him playing in the starting line-ups sooner than we thought.

#18 - ST - Wojciech Jagr - Age 22 - FC Axel Heiburg - 3 Caps
Two goals in a Champions' Cup final are kind of hard to ignore, and so Jagr gets a call up to the Terns side, replacing Kvitchenko as his Argonauts teammate Illich-Svitych ascends into the starting line-up. A workhorse of a supporting striker, his style perfectly complements his partner's poaching abilities at club level, and with van Sorensen's mobility slowly on the decline it is theorised that his tendency to track back and support the midfield could be useful in the future. Rather squat by Polarian standards, he still tops out at 5'8".

#19 - MC - Jean-Eric Villeneuve - Age 21 - Northbrook Diamonds FK - 4 Caps, 1 Assist
Moving back to Northbrook from Cap Nordique in Cotdelapoms, Villeneuve is a creative attacking midfielder in the same mould as Lepka and Demarchelier and, like the latter, he hails from the Rochefroides community in Ellismare. Fluent in five languages, he is incredibly intelligent as far as footballers go, and his range of passing and vision on the pitch is evidence of this. Not the fastest player to have ever hit the turf, he lets the football do all the hard work for him, which can lead to his apparent lack of effort being an easy target for disgruntled fans is results aren't going so well. Fortunately, with Jean-Eric in the side, this is rarely the case.

#20 - ST - Felix Saarinen - Age 25 - East Franz Athletic - 14 Caps, 5 Goals
With a series of hugely impressive performances in the Federation League, Saarinen's partnership up front with Kvitchenko has seen the Polarian duo become one of the most feared partnerships in the league. He is fast and nimble, and yet for his age is able to command a lone striker position if necessary. Tall and a dangerous figure in the box, any cameo appearances from the bench against tired legs will be sure to see him make an impact. Twitchers are excited to see just what he can do in the Terns shirt in another campaign after scoring three goals in his first two international matches at the last Copa, and I tell you what, so am I.

#21 - MC - Emrahn Vik - Age 28 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 47 Caps, 10 Assists, 3 Goals
After Jorgen-Franz Bru's unfortunate injury all that time ago, Emrahn Vik was handed the chance in the starting lineup and clung onto it. He repaid this trust from Schwartz with a series of marauding box to box performances - you were just as likely to see Emrahn smashing in a shot from the edge of the box as you were to see him make a block on the edge of his own box minutes later. Bru put in some fine performances at the last Copa, and he got his place in the starting eleven back as a result, passing it to Cornelius now he's injured, but Vik will be champing at the bit to get back out there and take it back.

#22 - DC - Soren Rovanpera - Age 22 - FC Axel Heiburg - Uncapped
Injury may have forced Schwartz's hands with several of the personnel changes this Copa, but these last two debuts for young defenders are on recent performances only. One of the starring players in FC Axel Heiburg's title retention and Champions' Cup win, it was almost an inevitability that Rovanpera would get the call up at some point, particularly after his u-21s record. A heavily built figure, he rarely gets muscled out of any one-on-ones, and his passion is second to none.

#23 - DC - David Wien - Age 22 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 3 Caps
Thanks to Jan Mayen Islanders' partnership with Liventian team Caernville Seahawks, Wien has already accumulated a significant amount of first team experience, experience that has set him up well as he moved not only back home to Jan Mayen, but also from the u-21s side into the full international side. His leadership and positional knowledge is already at an advanced stage, and his popularity with the other players in the side is noticeable to all. Pencilled in by some in the media as a future captain, he walks the fine line between being popular and being a leader like an expert. Despite this, his short temper can sometimes let him down.

TACTICS: "The Pythagorean" 2-3-3-2
The Polarian game is fast, quick, and physical. They won't give you a second on the ball to think, and they won't hold back in the tackle. In the centre of the park they will play a possession based midfield game, though a defence splitting pass could come at any moment towards the fast and direct attack. Schwartz's tactical plan, a narrow and heavily modified diamond formation dubbed the Pythagorean by the sporting press, is reliant upon two key triangular sets of players that transcend the normal "rows" of player in conventional formation layouts. Oyen-Spekke, Urfstadt, and Hauge will act as the defensive triangle, and van Sorensen, Elmsvikur, and Illich-Svitych will counter at the other end as the offensive triangle. Hauge and van Sorensen's roles in this scheme are absolutely crucial, as their job is to support and unlock the other two players in their respective triangles, providing outlets and creativity in abundance. Lepka and Cornelius will be part of a compact and creative midfield that will supply steel or style whenever the situation demands it, as well as partnering up with their respective full backs to form a kind of "bumper" that sweeps the flanks in attack or folds in to protect the penalty area in defence. Fitness of all players will therefore be key to the success of this plan, not least the constant positional changing demanded of Hauge and van Sorensen, but the athleticism of Juul and Kungas-Vaga in particular will be tested to the limit as their roles require frequent attacking. It's not quite a 4-3-3, it's not quite a 4-1-2-1-2, and it's not quite a W-M... its the Pythagorean.

Falconfar-Rushmori Space Bridge, Falconfar Side, Irswabi, Falcon, Falconfar

"Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the Triumvirate Queendom of Falconfar."

This simple statement awaited Linus Hynninen as he walked out of the bridge into the Falconian sun. The weather was warm, way warmer than it'd be back home in Jan Mayen. He walked with a purpose, clad in a simple business suit. Checking his watch and noting that he would still have time to go to The Palace of the Diamond Cliffs, he went up to a Halil'Quan officer. Bowing in the classic Halil'Quan fashion, he said, "Mia, jusai. Kara isi nowai lo? (Hello, sir. Where is the exit?)

The Halil'Quan was startled by Hynninen speaking his own language. He replied in English, "You caught me by surprise. Where are you headed?"

"To the Palace of the Diamond Cliffs," Hynninen replied.

The Haili'Quan said something into his walkie-talkie, and another officer came.

"This driver here will get you to wherever you need to go. You seem to be on official business... From Polar Islandstates? Does this concern the Copa?" the Beastling asked.

"Yes, it does," Hynninen answered.

"Well, best of luck!" the Beastling exclaimed, and the driver led Linus away.
Twenty Minutes Later

Sharon Tundai.

For the past twenty minutes, Linus had just been fixated on the name on the list, and all the memories it brought back. He didn't know that Sharon had made it to the big stage, that she was one of the best defenders in the Queendom. All he could remember was...

No, don't think that far back. You know what it does. Stop.

He finished reading the rest of the briefing, and got caught up on the group draw.

Then, he got out of the car. There awaited Imara Newson, Loria Votmk...

And Sharon Tundai.

Copa Rushmori XII; Are you ready!?
Author: TheFootyBoss Time: 9:35 AM, Day 142

Well, here we are once again, time for the Copa Rushmori! It is the 12th edition of the Copa, and our third time entering. Both previous times, we came in second, losing in the finals. Hopefully this year we will finally win, but I'm not too optimistic about it.

That said, there have been a few HUGE changes in the lineup. Alekai Verose retired from international footy way to early, at the age of 28. This will leave a large gap on the front line to fill. Not that we had a deficit of strikers, with both Kria Brennan and Gavin McKenzie on substitutes, and Jason Cartwright, who doesn't impress me much, in the reserves. Not only that, but Kári Timonen should be eligible for play this time around. He's already been drafted by Maylene FC (grumble grumble grumble), and scored a few goals as a substitute this past season. He should be able to open up during this international break, and gather his skill in stride.

Unfortunately, the back line also suffered a major loss a few weeks ago. Evan Mermon, who played right back last Copa, had his leg broken in a hard fouling tackle. He won't be playing, but he should still be on the lines as an assistant manager. I'm not quite sure who will get the majority of his minutes, but we have a large amount of young players fighting for the experience in international football.

Anyways, the real reason you visit this site; the rosters!

Starting Roster
Left Striker- Kria BRENNAN; 23 yrs; 7 caps, 8 Goals
Right Striker- Chris RIDENOUR, 27 yrs; 74 Caps, 52 Goals (Team Captain)
Attacking Midfielder- Alain EGENSON, 27 yrs; 74 Caps, 20 Goals
Left Midfielder- Matt WALTER, 20 yrs; 10 Caps, 1 Goal
Centre Midfielder- Pekka KAPRAT, 20 yrs; 10 Caps, 2 Goals
Right Midfielder- Carl ABEL, 22 yrs; 6Caps, 1 Goal
Left Back- Israel FREEMAN , 21 yrs; 16 Caps, 2 Goals
Center Back- Michael FORGE , 19 yrs; 10 Caps, 1 Goal
Center Back- Chris MOOR, 30 yrs; 79 Caps, 4 Goals
Right Back- Zak ANDERS, 18 yrs; 9 Caps, 1 Goal
Goalkeeper- Austin NELSON, 22 yrs; 46 Caps, 1.05 GAA, 0.82 SV%

An interesting thing to note here is who Miettinen has slotted in Mermon's spot, one Mister Zak Anders. He missed last Copa, as his mother was in the clinics, and hasn't played a game of international football in nearly two cycles. Plus, he's the youngest defender on the squad. Anyways, hopefully he shows the same defensive competence he shows here in Silver Coast. Also of note is Michael Forge. He will be starting at Center Back, but he will be on the thinnest ice I've ever seen. Miettinen wasn't pleased with his play last Copa, as he picked up three yellow cards and one red card. This lead to two matches of suspension, although Miettinen held him back a third. I'm sure if Evan Mermom were able to play, Miettinen wouldn't have enlisted Forge again.

Reserve Roster
Striker- Gavin McKENZIE, 29 yrs; 21 Caps, 11 Goals
Striker- Jason CARTWRIGHT, 22 yrs; 7 Caps, 0 Goals
Striker- Kári TIMONEN, 17 yrs; 0 Caps, 0 Goals
Midfielder- Leon BRENNAN, 22 yrs; 4 Caps, 0 Goals
Midfielder- Chris AKERS , 18 yrs; 0 Caps, 0 Goals
Defender- Robin DAWLEY, 19 yrs; 0 Caps, 0 Goals
Defender- Spike BRIDGES, 17 yrs; 2 Caps, 1 Goals
Defender- George VIRASCHE, 19 yrs; 0 Caps, 0 Goals
Goalkeeper- Patrick WILLIAMS, 28 yrs; 40 Caps, 1.64 GAA, 0.71 SV%

It's good to see Jason Cartwright back on the roster. He had a short stint on the junior team as the lead striker, but then faded into obscurity shortly after, playing a few matches from the bench. Hopefully we see some of the defensive substitutes this Copa, just to see their capabilities, and how they perform. Not that we need them soon; our team is still quite young. I am surprised though, that Kári Timonen is so low on the roster. I definitely wouldn't put him as a striker, but he's currently listed as the third reserve striker, a position I doubt we'll see much of. Of course, Miettinen might not even follow this list.

Kits, Team Modifiers and Miscellaneous Notes

Our international kit has been solid for the past four cycles, so we'll be using them again.

Fortunately, rather than sitting in the top row of the stadium like I did last cycle, I'll have a press pass this cycle! A long story you can read in my previous posts, I met Miettinen, and he knew who I was. This year, he sent me a press pass! So, I'll get to be down on the sidelines, interviewing the players, getting restraint warrants, and generally having a good time asking dumb questions!

Final thing of note is the Liason Officer. I've got no idea who she is, other than that's she's been assigned to our team. Hopefully I can ask her some questions too. Things like, "Who the hell are you, and why did you get assigned to us?"

Anyways, looking at the rosters, we will likely use the same 4-3-1-2 that we used last Copa, although it will be a +3 Team Modifier, as Kria is much more offensively aware than Verose ever was, or will be.

The Daily Sheep

Copa Rushmore Squad Announced

Basically Birolika have yet again set low hopes for their competition. With that they are yet again pulling the same cheap stunt that they did in the cup of harmony and are entering a bunch of criminals. They were pretty useless last time and we decided to keep them, mostly because footballers are the most hated people in Birolika and criminals are hated anyway (so two birds one stone). Although there is one change, The Shadowman is still missing after he took Van Kylx's clone captive along with a painfully shy accountant from Mulberry and he has been replaced with William De Froog; a man convicted due to insanity because he emigrated from Mollary to Birolika (which just isn't sane.)
