OPEN OF KUBISTVIS
SIGNUPS/ROSTERS/DISCUSSION THREAD

Gamarjoba! And welcome to the signups thread of the Open of Kubistvis, a multi-sport event inspired by the Open di Kastos. The Sakhoveli (that's the demonym for Sakhovelo) peoples are awaiting you with open arms to enjoy a celebration of athletes in a spirit of peace, friendship and happiness. All the events will be hosted in the metropolitan area of the city of Kubistvis, hence the name. As an open tournament for the peoples of Esportiva, any Esportivan nation is welcomed as well as every Esportivan athlete in a basis of NO discrimination. The Open is organized by the OOKOC (Open of Kubistvis' Organising Committee).

We'll work with two threads, this one for signups, rosters and discussion, whilst the second one will be used ONLY for ceremonies, RPs and results, to be opened soon. The first posts here are very important, so please read them! And also, Thatius is an invited nation for having hosted the last Open Tournament.

How to sign up?
Copy and paste the events list that is in the following post. If you don't want to participate in an event, just erase it from the final list. The numbers appearing next to each event represent the maximum number of entries that each delegation (country) can enter into a single event. Of course, you can enter less athletes than the number shown. For the next steps, just keep reading. Put the names of your athletes or team, and at the side, put the skill modifier.

Nonetheless, remember to NOT tag or post a "provisional sign-up", as it will be ignored. Also, bear in mind that you can't edit your posts, as I may not realize you've changed anything. Any, absolutely ANY change you want to make, please make it in a new post.

Ahem... What's an skill modifier?
A skill modifier is the data used in the scorinator to give the final results outcome. It represents (as the name suggests) the skill that your athlete has for his sport. In this case, we'll use an scale from 0 to 100, where 0 means an amateur-ish athlete, and 100 is one of the world-class-professionals of his class. There's an skill modifier for EACH entry... Therefore, a team of Lacrosse will have only ONE skill modifier, as will a duo of Tennis, and a single athlete in swimming.

Overall, the average of skill modifiers must be 50 or less. If your average is more than 50, we'll be in charge of changing all the skill modifiers of your delegation, MOEHAHAHA ! No, seriously, please 50 or less.

Entry... entry... entry... What's an entry, after all?
An entry represents an athlete or a group of athletes competing in ONE event. That means that a team (for the team sports) counts as one entry, and an athlete (let's say in cycling, for example) is also one entry. But remember that a same athlete competing in different events still counts as different entries. Got it?

Limits
Well... what would be life without limits? Do you think it'd be happy to have an anarchy?
Well, you're wrong! At least here, we DO need rules, so....

The limit of entries will be 180 for all the competing nations, and 220 for the host (following RL examples where the tournaments have a larger delegation coming from the host). To compensate, the average of the host's delegation will have to be 38 or less, instead of 50 or less. Unlike other events, we will allow the participation of an unlimited number of puppet nations, BUT adding up those delegations to that of the master nation, there must not be more than 350 entries.

Name-o-mania!
Every entry must have a name, except where it says “1 team” (and there’s no specification on how many people are on that team); you can just put “team” or “national team”. If you actually want to name the players of this type of teams, you can do it in a roster for purposes of roleplaying. You NEED to name competitors for doubles, relay events, or anywhere where it says “x team of y”.

Anything else?
Yes. Now, for purposes of funding, we need you to send U$500 to my account in Colombia..... Nah, kidding. We get 5 cents every time you type a letter ;). We need you to fill out the following information as well...
    - Name of your flagbearer for the opening ceremony.
    - The name of your nation in your national languages.
    - Which are your national colours?
    - Three-letter code to identify your nation
Also, remember to disable smilies before you post. Oh, and bear in mind there will be four medals on each event, representing the four elements that form the cosmology of the old Sakhoveli civilization. The medals to be distributed will be:
1st place - Fire - Gold Medal
2nd place - Water - Sapphire Medal
3rd place - Wind - Quartz Medal
4th place - Earth - Emerald Medal

About Sakhovelo
The State of Sakhovelo is a commonwealth, that used to be part of the Great Pluricultural Harrikía of Euskirribakondara, hence, it participates in Esportivan events as the Incorporated States of Sakhovelo. Sakhovelo is a beautiful peninsula-state bathed by a beautiful sea and surrounded by huge mountains that can go up even to 5000 meters above the sea level. Its biodiversity and environmental diversity has propiciated a considerable variety of sports and other exercise activities.

Around 12 million people call Sakhovelo home, most of them part of the Georgian and Euskal ethnic groups. They have a profound sense of national pride, environmental awareness, tolerance and sportsmanship. Their religious beliefs (buddhism and orthodox christianism mostly) have resulted in a very healthy diet and a generous hospitality towards foreigners. Just like the rest of Esportiva, the sport venues and the athletes themselves are largely funded, and overall, the nation is highly cultured on every aspect.

Official Languages: Georgian and Euskal
Population: 11'890.765
Capital: Kubistvis

About the City
The best way to describe the city is through its unofficial anthem, the song "Sakhovelo" by Sopho Kortadze, which finished 4th in the international song competition known as 'World Hit Festival', on its 9th edition.

VENUES

The 154 events of the tournament will be contested in 13 different venues, out of which 11 are located in Kubistvis' downtown, 1 goes across most of the district, and another one is just 1 kilometer away from the cluster of the Open. 9 venues will be permanent, and will provide a legacy of sport to the city's inhabitants, whilst other 3 will be temporary, and 1 will be seasonal (only open on summers). Take a close look to them in the following images and descriptions. Above is the map that shows you the venues and their location in Kubistvis. Note that the airport is 5 kilometers away, and the Athlete's Village is at the east of the Convention Center of Kubistvis. All the venues are connected to these two non-competition venues mentioned by the public transport system of the city (taxicab, bus, rickshaw).

Image
The Kubistvis Major Stadium has a capacity of 70,000 attendants. It will host the ceremonies (opening, closing and medals) and all the games of Lacrosse, after a temporary modification that will be made to the football court. It has a crystal roof that reminds us of the sea, the main motor of the Kubistvisi life. It was inaugurated in 2011, and is an example of the modern Sakhoveli architecture.

Image
The Chavchavadze Arena will be the centerpiece for Gymnastics during the whole tournament, as the three disciplines of this sport will be contested inside the most modern venue of the city. Its inauguration will be done with the events of this celebration, and its contemporary design inspires the whole downtown of Kubistvis. It can seat up to 20,000 fans in this Gymnastics configuration.

Image
In the Nuri Indoor Pool the competition of Water Polo will take place. Originally the hotspot of Kubistvis, it was almost completely abandoned in the 90s, and it was renovated in 2001. In preparation for the OoK, the pool was transformed into an indoor pool, suitable for any international event. 8,000 fans can enter the venue to enjoy the games.

Image
The symbol of the city, the MZE Courts will host the tennis competition. "Mze" means "Sun" in Georgian, and due to the evergreen sunny atmosphere of the city, these courts were named as such. They exist since 1899, and there is no permanent seating in all courts. Anyone can come and watch the match! Just the main court, which will host semifinals and finals, has permanent seating, of about 6,000 attendants.

Image
One of the temporary venues will be located inside the Convention Center of Kubistvis. The three largest halls of the venue will be used during the Tournament. Hall 1 will be used for Fencing and Weightlifting, whilst Hall 2 will be used for Handball, and Hall 3 for Wrestling. The 5 disciplines will be contested on three different "arenas" of 6,000 attendants each.

Image
The Romeladze Marina Center will host the Sprint/Flatwater discipline of Canoeing. Its open space, protected from the waves of the sea, is perfect to enjoy any rowing-related event with the sun and the breeze of the coast. All the attendants will be located in the promenade besides the Marina, therefore, its full capacity can be of up to 10,000 fans.

Image
The Sakhoveli National Arena is the third largest sports venue of the city, as it gathers 22,222 seats. It was designed and built during the Euskirribakondaran domination period, thus the affiliation with the number 22. It will host the indoor volleyball tournament entirely. It is the closest venue to the Athletes' Village and the airport, making it the most accessible venue of all.

Image
The temporary Mountain Bike Course will be located in the Rose Hill, a point located a few meters away from the Downtown District, and an everlasting symbol of the Sakhoveli connection with nature. It will feature no seats, as the attendants can support the athletes throughout all the course, which goes across thick forests, grass plains and rocky ramps.

Image
Some of the Streets of Kubistvis will be closed on certain days to host the Triathlon (cycling and running) and the Road discipline of Cycling. It will show different landmarks to both spectators and athletes, using the world-wide famous white rock as soil for the competitions. All the fans can support from any point of the sidewalks of the selected roads.

Image
The seasonal Beach Sports Center will host the Triathlon (swimming) and the Beach variant of Volleyball. The Volleyball Court can seat up to 1,200 fans, although it will also have a giant screen on its surroundings to let more people watch the breathtaking games. It is connected directly with the Slalom Course and its facilities.

Image
The Slalom Course is the other venue specially built for the OoK. It seats up to 8,000 fans around a world-class profesional slalom course, certified by international officials. Because of being the most modern venue of the Kubistvisi beach, it will attract both locals and tourists to this amazing celebration of sport.

Image
The Ninoshvili Velodrome Complex and its recently opened BMX Course will host all the Cycling events of the Tournament. The velodrome has a capacity of 8,000 attendants, whilst the BMX Course will just seat 1,200. As well as in the BSC, there will be a giant screen in the outside for those who couldn't afford a ticket.

Image
The last venue, and probably the symbol of the OoK, is the Tsqali Center. Its name means "Water/Aquatic Center" in Georgian, as it is home to an Olympic pool and a Diving pool that have boosted the sports' activity of the nation since its opening in 2008. It can seat up to 16,000 attendants.

Just a quick note for you Sakho, I've noticed a wee mistake while working on my app. I'm pretty sure that the women's team pursuit has three racers rather than four, and the women's team sprint has two rather than three. Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it like that before.

EDIT: And having made a quick test on Xkoranate, I got these results for the men's team pursuit:
1 Licentiapacisterra 4:05.883
2 Sakhovelo 4:06.443

And these for the equivalent women's event:

That implies to me that there are less riders in the women's event, but I'm not certain. Just though I'd let you know :)

Licentiapacisterra wrote:Just a quick note for you Sakho, I've noticed a wee mistake while working on my app.

1 Sakhovelo 3:20.604
2 Licentiapacisterra 3:21.608

That implies to me that there are less riders in the women's event, but I'm not certain. Just though I'd let you know :)

True Lic, thanks. I mixed up a bit the norms there, didn't I?
In that case, CH will have to do a slight modification to his signup.

Anyway, welcome everyone!
And now I'm checking the signups of Dandish and Cyborg Holland.

Well, Here comes the Marills. They aren't many because of the fact that NSI isn't very good with competitions that range from more than one sport and so funding was hard to find.

ATTENTION!

Taijan
I received 27 entries with an average of 50,000. You've been assigned TAI as a three-letter code, and Kori Chao (Men's Swimming) as your flagbearer.

Apox
I received 42 entries with an average of 44,167. You've been assigned APX as a three-letter code, and George Hetemos (Men's Swimming) as your flagbearer.

Dandillis
I received 99 entries with an average of 50,000. You've been assigned DND as a three-letter code, and Yorovi Laruvia (Women's Canoeing Slalom) as your flagbearer.

Northern Sunrise Islands
I received 32 entries with an average of 50,000. You've been assigned NSI as a three-letter code, and Hitomi Kagawa (Women's Diving) as your flagbearer.

Cyborg Holland
There are a few problems with your submission:
    * There appears Matvei Koziol in the Men's 100m Breaststroke event (Aquatics - Swimming), with two skill modifiers: 100 and 17.
    * You submitted two athletes, Josef Leit & Nikolas Bernstein with a skill modifier of 20, for an event of just one athlete: Men's K-1 1000m (Canoeing - Sprint).
    * You submitted four athletes, Marijse Poulsen, Helge Bul, Stefanie Edvar & Sylvi Matthiasen with a skill modifier of 100, for an event of just three athletes: Women's Team Pursuit (Cycling - Track).
    * You submitted three athletes, Puli Gulser, Lovise Hoedemakers & Ranghild Bjarnsen with a skill modifier of 25, for an event of just two athletes: Women's Team Sprint (Cycling - Track).
    * You submitted three athletes, Edwin Pladeer, Oliver Ruird & Yakin Koemans, with a skill modifier of 30, for an event that IS NOT CONTESTED in the Open of Kubistvis: Men's Team Sabre (Fencing)

Without those mistakes, your delegation would have 168 entries with an average of 54,107. Therefore, you must modify the numbers a bit when you make those corrections. Also, bear in mind that with two more athletes in Men's Artistic Gymnastics, and Women's Artistic Gymnastics... You could also participate in the Team Events.

You've been assigned CYB as a three-letter code, and Rasmus Zeghers (Men's Swimming) as your flagbearer.
