Andrewsburgville comes into this cup ready for any challenge, led by Andrew Figueiredo, and his high scoring in the league and on the international stage. Filipe Campos is the best defender, strong and always ready to steal the ball. With 102 caps, he is the most experienced player on the squad.

Swiss National Team to Compete
Returning legend Gordon du-Lusavik will lead his team in the Gaveoan football cup after missing the past few competitions due to an ankle injury. du-Lusavik, age 31, is a former medalist at the Baptism of Fire, and has started for Basil AC on many occasions before being transferred to a Kinitarian team.

The Swiss national team also has some new faces, among them Nicholas Jayet, a 21 year old goalie (also from Basil), who has been declared "the future of Swiss goalkeeping." Replacing M. Wind as the starter for the national team, he has been cited saying he looks forward to any and all competition that comes his way.

Gaveo had a tradition of playing football but ever since the "Dark Times" Gaveo hasn't played internationally in over 60 years, the last time they played was the Gaveoan Empire beating the newly seperated Arubbizion beating them 5-1. Now Gaveoan people finally decided to form a national team consisting Gaveo's best. Hernan Garcia, age 39 has gone past his 20s prime but was ready for the cup saying, "This is my one opportunity, I will take it." Hopefully Gaveo shows the world its futbol prowess...

Free Swiss States Amazed at Giant Bathrooms
Says Nicholas Jayet, goalkeeper for the Swiss football team, "Holy crap, the bathrooms in the hotel were ENORMOUS! We had two Jacuzzis! And a sushi bar!" Jonah Nizzy, head coach of the Swiss team, happens to agree. "I'm really glad we're here at the Gaveoan Cup... great bathrooms!" At this point Nicholas interrupted once again. "They also have TV's mounted to the walls so you can watch while you pee!" Nicholas, new to the national team, has been described as more of a silent guy, though extremely excitable when roused.

"I can watch myself in slow motion on the TV while I urinate!" Jayet cried as he was escorted out of the newsroom by his coach, who was patting him on the shoulder and saying, "Now, now, NIcholas... not good to get your blood pressure up before a game..."

The team will play Reen in their next fixture. We asked experienced and veteran member of the team, Donovan Menelle, to comment on the game. He said, "I don't know. But have you seen the bathrooms in this place? Those things are huge!"

The selections talk...

Goalkeeper, Victor Moreno was ecstatic when he was announced as the goalie for Gaveo, "Unbelievable! This was my dream since I was a kid, I practiced all day long and have my parents to thank." Although Gaveo is not going to play tomorrow they are ready to face a dangerous Swiss team. Captian Sebastian Cadiz said "I happy to face a team of this caliber, sure the other teams are good but this is our biggest challenge because this is our first international... I hope we don't mess up!" as jokes around... As said earlier Gaveo will face the Swiss Free States... GO GAVEO!

The National Raxillion Football Association (NRFA) head coach Tyrone Hersh made a last second entree into the Gaveon Football Cup stating "Raxillion needs a International Association to be noticed into the world of sports other than play in our own backyard."

The Raxillion team seems very confident about there chances in the cup, when asked about his current standing on there success goal keeper Arthur Bickford said "We are the best team in Raxillion and have won our National Cup countless amounts of time, I don't think we have to worry about losing this cup."

Huge Dance Party in Bathrooms Broken Up by Team Coach
After their victorious match against a team from Reen, the Swiss footballers immediately preceeded to their lavish living rooms spacing and began a dance party in what has been described as some very large and prestigious restroom facilities. As famous song "Swiss-t and Shout" blared over the loudspeakers, team goalkeeper Nicholas Jayet led the team in some karaoke exercises.

Sadly, the party was soon broken up by team coach Jonah Nizzy, who exclaimed that the team needed to "rest their muscles," and "make sure they don't crash their body's supply of blood sugar." Says defense starter, W. Mazar, "We were just having a bit of fun."

At press time, the coach had reportedly announced that the "giant bathrooms" were now "totally off-limits."

The Slembana Times: Decent result

By Peter Whiteman, chief football reporter at the Estadio Municipal de Chano, Gaveo (attendance 18,764)

Upsetting, isn’t it? Our first match in the Gaveoan football tournament was played at the smallest stadium. Anyway, we drew 2-2 with Andrewsburgville.

We opened the scoring in the 2nd minute, when Pete Galbor’s cross was headed home by Jack Vanderton. After the goal, we were dominant, with the Andrewsburgvillian goalkeeper Paulo Vitor saving shots from Vanderton, Galbor, Friday Keane, and Yannick Fleftouno. However, Andrewsburgville equalized after 37 minutes (actually after 36 minutes, because the clock said 36:12), when Pedro Nogueira dinked the ball over Peter Jackson, our goalkeeper, from a penalty.

We went back ahead in the 63rd minute, when Zorro Pullman smashed home from 30 yards. It was a great goal, and gave us a deserved lead, as we had had a goal wrongly chalked off for offside in the 49th minute. However, in the last minute, a clearance from Faryz Volix hit Andrew Figueiredo, Andrewsburgville’s star striker. The ball flicked off Figueiredo’s head and looped in over Jackson to give Andrewsburgville an undeserved equalizer.

Raxillion National News Televison Brodcast

A disappointed team for a dissapointed game, Raxillion fans cheered as there team faced Gaveo a close game that looked inevitably as a draw until the last 20 minutes of the game where Gaveo captain Sebastian Candiz scored while flying past defender Chad Neuman, kicking the ball into the top left corner of the goal, where cheers in Raxillion suddenly grew silent. "There is no blame on Chad for losing the game, The team just didn't get much rest for the game that day." said Raxillion coach Tyrone Hersh stating that after they landed it was right to practice, "There still four more games and Raxillion is going to be there at the top" lastly state by the coach.

Team members of the NRFA were heartbroken of the outcome as the slowly dragged themselves off the field. "We played good.. And this loss seriously made us realize that these teams are serious on there intent to win this cup, Hah, we are lucky enough we still have a chance. So watch out Slembana! We are coming for you!" said by goal keeper Arthur Bickford.

Hopefully Raxiilion is able to bring put a win for there proud nation after all there are millions watching! And that's all the time we have for our sports news.
