NationStates College Football season 6

Here it is! The sixth edition of NationStates College Football. Here you will find Rosters for your opposition, and all RPs should be posted here too.
Any questions should be posted in the discussion thread, to avoid OOC clutter, please. Failing that, feel free to send a telegram to either myself, or any other conference host.

There are a few changes this time around, so if you're a returning team, please read carefully. New teams, welcome!

The NSCF procedure is outlined here.

There will be seven conferences this season; Big Eight, Horizon, Mineral, Sequoia, Woodlands and Equinox return, with the addition of the new Celestia conference. Each conference will have six teams, and the regular season will be double round-robin, for a total of 10 games. Games will be scorinated three times a week, on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Please check your conference for a projected RP cutoff time. Scores will be posted in this thread.

After all ten regular season games, there will be an out-of-conference week, with each team playing up to three games against opposition from other conferences. These games will not count toward conference championships, but WILL affect playoff seedings. All OoC games must be arranged by the teams playing them, and confirmed by the end of the first week of the regular season (matchday three).

The playoff format is fourteen teams -- conference champions plus the next best five by OSPI, and two selected by the NSCF committee -- in a seeded, three round, single-elimination bracket. Seeds for the playoffs will be determined purely by OSPI, and the higher seed will have home advantage until the final, which will take place at a neutral venue yet to be decided. Any nation can put together a final hosting bid, before the start of OoC week, to be voted on by the NSCF Committee.

** Please note that these rankings are ICly provided by OSN.net and are totally unofficial. OOCly they are based on my standings sheet (see the sig).
** Pre season ranks are determined by last season's finish for returning teams, and then arbitrary ranks were given to new teams.
** In the actual standings spreadsheet, the final tiebreaker is last season's rank (based on playoffs and final standings) or alphabetical order for new teams.

The reason for that undue quiet on campus this week has been found out; the football team is gone. Not gone entirely, of course, no such luck, but gone from the campus scene, gone from the parties and the debauchery and from classes. Actually, just kidding on that last one; they've been missing class all semester. Still, the lack of binge drinking, butt-slapping and flagrant sexism has been palpable lately. Just what are those crazy kids up to?

The answer, of course, is football. But not just any football, says head coach Jimmy Cundiff. Big-time football, against other countries and everything. The Templars are playing in the Equinox Championship, against college teams from all over the world, including Eastern Quebec, Lymantatia, and the Northern Sunrise Islands, and that means long plane rides, lots of missed classes, and, of course, tougher football.

"It's a great opportunity," Cundiff found time to tell us in-between supervising weightlifting sessions for linebackers and defensive backs. "We'll be playing against other teams at or above our level. No more big fish in small pond for us."

No figures could be gained on the cost of such an endeavor, but Cundiff assures us it is worth it for the exposure and the opportunity to represent Taijan on the international stage.

Welcome to the University of Alzburg-Dyka!

NSCF 6 is about to begin - and UAD hope to follow up their success from the previous season into this one. Once again, the students, academic staff and alums welcome everybody to the campus and hope everybody enjoys their stay, however long or short. Once again, the best fans in all of college football are gearing up to celebrate what they hope will be a great season. Domestically, they are the most successful team ever. They have won the most MNCF (Mytanar National Collegiate Football) Championships, out of all the teams that compete. This year has been a down year in sporting terms for UAD, they haven't had any success in anything - of course, we'll come onto their domestic college football success in a later section. The Royals are still strong this season, even after losing a serious amount of talent last season. It wasn't in huge numbers, but the actual players lost accounted for a large amount of talent lost.

The University is renowned for providing students with excellent degrees in Sciences, with biology having a huge amount of funding diverted towards it. A new interdisciplinary bioscience department was funded jointly by the state and the university - costing a huge M(C)52 million - which, in Mytanar terms is an extremely large amount of money (it should be noted that the Mytanar Economy is almost perpetually stuck in a recession, Mytannion is possibly the poorest 'developed' nation in Rushmore). The University furthers research into genetics for the government with the state and the university having a connection that dates back well into the 1800s (it is 2004 according to the Mytanar calendar), with the royal family having lived at 'the Alzburg' since 1809 - the Alzburg is a palace located on a hill above the town of Dyka and is well known throughout the nation. The people at Dyka University liked the royal family so much that they actually decided to name the University after the royal's summer dwelling in 1840. Since then, the University has been known as the University of Alzburg-Dyka and is a centre of (as aforementioned), sciences but also Rushmori Politics. Rushmore is indeed a region which prides itself on having quite a leftist political scene - Mytannion is probably at the centre of this scene being a hive of leftist thought in terms of economic theory, but also social theory - with it being known as one of the most liberal nations in all of Rushmore. This thought hasn't helped much evidently, as Mytannion is possibly also one of the poorest nations in all of Rushmore, with many citizens living in squalid conditions on the council estates which are ubiquitous with the green and orange stars that make up the Mytanar flag.

The Location.

Dyka - is basically nothing more than a sprawling overflow of the former university and the small village that provided for the royal family when they were in town. Now it has turned into a metropolitan town which has superb transport links with the rest of the island of Nasto and the rest of Mytannion. Dyka has its own international airport, located on the outskirts of the town which caters for both domestic travel and Rushmori travel. If you are not travelling to Dyka from another Rushmori nation then you will have to fly into Esca International or Alex Util Airport in Thessia and then get a connection flight to Dyka. You could always use the trusty train service we have in Mytannion too, with links from all across Nasto coming into Dyka and you also have the ability to travel from mainland Mytannion to Dyka too if you take the Trunca-Cizian Link Tunnel, which is a tunnel under the Namyt Strait (the body of water separating the mainland from the isle of Nasto), that connects Trunca - a city on the south-coast of Mytannion to Cizian - a port town on the north-eastern coast of Nasto. The whole town has been massively redeveloped in recent years, with the town centre being expanded so it can have some of the international brand names other nations enjoy gracing its' streets. There are now a whole lot of modern businesses and foreign investment has been almost tripled in the area - the whole town seems to have been constructed out of glass, steel and red brick now, with the majority of structures being modernised. Still, everything revolves around the university. If you live in Dyka, you're a Royals fan - there's no other choice really. As the town is a 'University Town', there are a number of pubs, clubs and bars that cater to your alcohol-consuming, bad dancing and general fun-having needs.

The Stadium.

Tiegemburk Park - is an extremely modern stadium, by Mytanar standards anyway. This is it's fourth season of use and an expansion has taken the capacity to 60,000 for this season. Of course, that is just the official capacity and usually the actual attendance exceeds the official capacity by approximately 2,000. Tiegemburk Park, being a modern stadium has some of the best amenities available; including the under soil heating, which is of prime importance in Mytannion - what with the cold and sometimes very snowy weather. Tailgating here is superb, with fans gathering for hours before the game and setting up the barbecue and getting the party started with a lot of alcohol consumed and a lot of impromptu chanting started up everywhere. Inside the stadium, there are specific sections for different fans. There's the north stand, which is split half and half between away fans and the loudest home fans. This is where a drum beats away all game, setting the beat for the offense to move the chains downfield. The away fans are separated from the most vociferous fans by a huge wire fence. The main stand, where the team runs out is packed with the alums of the college - this is the main family section, and is often seen as the section that represents the university best - maize and blue packs this section of the stadium, showing off the university's colours brilliantly. The south stand, is another fanatical section, filled with some of the students. The other sideline stand is a real mixture of support, with families and people who don't hold season tickets being found here, this section doesn't have a roof and is completely open to the worst that the Mytanar elements can throw.

Domestic Performance.
UAD have been used to dominating performances domestically in recent years, winning the last four MNCF Championships. They were looking to win yet another this season, even with a new quarterback at the helm in the form of Erritel Hikhrela. They did not disappoint as they romped to another Conference Championship, their 26th, as they managed a 12-2 record in the regular season. They didn't start the season well at all however, as they lost 16-3 to Arsika Military, whose staunch defense prevented the Royals from getting anything going offensively and their running game managed to get them a touchdown and in position to kick three more field goals; which ended up being good enough to win the game. They recovered in the second game, beating Parr Agricultural 23-16, the offense getting three touchdowns and the defense forcing a safety.

They followed this up with a 13-0 shutout of Molevsky and an air raid of win against Parr State, winning 37-10, Hikhrela passing in four touchdowns. A 3-1 record after four games wasn't terrible for UAD, although they hadn't experienced a loss for a few seasons - but growing pains were to be expected with three new players in the secondary, a new backfield and just the loss of the best player ever produced by UAD. A narrow, late touchdown victory over Nalchik University 13-6 made it 4-1 going into an important match against the strong Ravnina Tech. Ravnina Tech have an expert senior quarterback, Jan Kurka, who is expected to be the #1 pick of this year's draft. Kurka threw for 467 yards, 4 touchdowns and most importantly no interceptions as he demoted UAD to a 4-2 record after six games. There was fear in the UAD athletics department after this loss as they went into the Ole Ball Game against Ontario Tech, the biggest rivalry game that UAD has, where they would compete for the Tolstoy Trophy.

UAD did recover as they beat their rivals, Ontario Tech by one-point, 24-23, with a field goal as time expired. Hikhrela showed great leadership quality in this game as he marched the team up the field from his own 20 and into field goal range. This was the catalyst for a 7 game win streak, as UAD avenged losses against Arsika Military and Ravnina Tech and crushed several teams, beating Parr Agricultural 31-13, Parr State 30-6, Nalchik University 31-7 and Molevsky 23-3. This left the Royals with a 12-2 record at the end of the regular season, which was the best record out of any of the teams in the 'Big Four' conferences (Midlands, Highland, Capital Conference and UAD's own EN-8). The EN-8 Conference has a bowl game tie-in with the Rose Bowl, so UAD, as winners of their conference would be guaranteed a spot there - in the most prestigious bowl game of them all.

However, after no team from one of the 'Big Four' conferences could match their record and only non-automatic qualifying Trunca College could, the Royals were once again given a spot in the MNCF National Championship Game. The team that were chosen to play them were the 11-3 Decraa College, champions of what is normally talked of as the toughest conference to win, the Midlands. There was controversy as they were picked over a 12-2 team in the form of Trunca College, but based on strength of schedule, the committee chose Decraa College and Sviatoslaw Kovalyov, the freshman quarterback that UAD snubbed in favour of Marc Zotov. Half the nation almost hoped that Erritel Hikhrela would become injured in the run-up to the championship game in order to see the two most highly touted quarterback recruits from last years recruiting class go against each other. This didn't happen in the end, but the fans were still given an enthralling encounter in the Championship Game.

The Royals started well, with a touchdown in the first five minutes of the game, Hikhrela looking in mercurial form. Decraa College replied with a touchdown of their own, Kovalyov showing he's not just a pocket passer and showing he can work outside the pocket by running it in - from 24 yards, too. Decraa College then went on a rampage through the new UAD secondary, Kovalyov passing for 189 yards in the second and third quarters alone. This huge yardage also equated to two more touchdowns for Decraa College, both through the air. Kovalyov connected with star wide-out Marek Stremmemann on a 24-yard stop-and-go route to get the Midlands Conference Champions ahead, and then in the 3rd quarter extended their league by dinking a ball over defensive tackle, Gore Sidorov, to his halfback on a screen. Said halfback, Rudolf Parenko then made an outstanding play, juking out of what would have been a bonecrushing tackle by Ragnar Simmundsson and taking the football to the house. UAD were 21-7 down, going into the 4th quarter of the game, the Royals would need a comeback of Ostgurnesque proportions.

Hikhrela started by marching his team down to the 7 yard line, where he pitched the ball to Ihor Voronkov who slammed his way into the endzone, breaking two tackles on the way to his dive over the goal line. 21-14, with a lot of time to go in the quarter. 12:32 on the clock, time for a defensive stop, a turnover would be even better though. As Decraa College tried to run the clock down, Marwan Pijnenberg looked to be getting more and more restless on the defensive line. After four minutes of short yardage gains and first downs gained on 3rd & Short, Pijnenberg decided to make the move by moving perfectly on the snap of the ball, his timing was immense and as he shedded two attempted blocks from the centre and left guard, he found a gap and charged towards Kovalyov, who was passing it for once. Pijenberg was coming from Kovalyov's blindside and the big defensive lineman absolutely crushed the freshman quarterback. The ball came loose from Kovalyov's grasp and cornerback, Audvar Sommerstad was the quickest to react. He had been covering the zone in the left flat and as nobody was in this area, he could concentrate on what was happening in the pocket, and as Kovalyov fumbled, Sommerstad charged to the ball, recovered it and gained another 15 yards as he put the Royals in a fantastic position to level the scores.

Sommerstad's fumble recovery gave the Royals fantastic field position, on the Decraa College 37 yard line. Hikhrela didn't waste too much time (bearing in mind they only had about 07:57 left anyway), throwing a quick slant underneath to Sawa Efremov, who broke a tackle and then found a gap and burst through it, getting the Royals down to the 18. A draw play, giving the ball off to Ihor Voronkov tricked the Decraa College defense into looking for the pass and this hesitation led to Voronkov easing his way to another first down. Now inside the Decraa College 10, situated on the 7 yard line. The Royals had a decision to make, two minutes had gone - so if they got a touchdown very quickly, there would be plenty of time for Decraa College to get back into it. This led to two run plays, the first of 2 yards, the second of 3 yards, getting the Royals down to the 2-yard line.

The next play was crucial, 3rd & Goal, Hikhrela stepped back to pass, he looped a short throw over the defensive lineman to the tight-end, Marijan Bilic, who was running a drag route along the goal line, touchdown. 21-21, 04:36 left on the clock, possibly one possession each to try and win the game late on.

Sviatoslaw Kovalyov had got his team to the UAD 42-yard line, just outside field goal range for his kicker. Marwan Pijnenberg was apparently inspired by his forced fumble as he went after the freshman QB again. This time he sacked him for a loss of 6 yards, leaving Decraa College on 2nd & 16, on the next play, Gore Sidorov made up for earlier mistakes by making a sack of his own, this time for only 2 yards. 3rd & 18 to go, Decraa College needed to pass the ball. Kovalyov took a big dropback, then passed long, trying to reach his favourite receiver, Marek Stremmemann, he didn't realise that he was throwing into double coverage however - as Audvar Sommerstad stepped up for his second turnover of the game, intercepting the ball and running it back to the 43 yard line. 02:37 on the clock. Hikhrela made hand-off after hand-off to Ihor Voronkov who valiantly kept hold of the ball on every rushing play, 10 plays in two minutes to run the clock down, with three straight first downs. The Royals were down to the 11 yard line, well within field goal range. There was only 00:22 on the clock now, but if that were the time that Decraa College had when they got the ball back, they would have a chance to win the game. UAD has learnt in recent years that they can't leave anything to chance. Two more plays got UAD down to the 7 yard line, but also wasted a valuable 14 seconds, getting the time down to 8 seconds left in the game. Erritel Hikhrela just took a knee to run the clock down some more, Decraa College had used all their timeouts, UAD had one left and as the clock reached 00:02, UAD took that final timeout.

If this kick was good, UAD would win the MNCF National Championship for the 11th time and their 5th straight national title. Pressure was heaped on freshman kicker, Maxim Ignatiev. In a normal game, it would be one of the easiest field goals he'd ever attempt. A 23-yard attempt, it was simple. In any normal game anyway, but as everybody knew, this was far from any normal game.

The ball was snapped, back-up quarterback, Marc Zotov, held the ball perfectly for his kicker. Ignatiev ran up, sliced his foot through the ball and the ball was going, flying through the air, towards the goal posts. It was perfect, splitting the posts straight down the middle, it was good. The UAD players mobbed the field, diving on their kicker who must have been crushed at the bottom of one of the biggest piles ever as the Royals managed to win their 11th MNCF National Championship. 24-21, final score, UAD beating Decraa College, who look like one of the best suited teams to perhaps join UAD in the NSCF one day.

UAD saw this as fantastic preparation for what is being looked at as one of the toughest NSCF seasons the Royals will have to endure as of yet. "The team proved that even with a lot of new additions and changes to the playbooks on both sides of the ball, we can do extremely well. It could be a year of rebuilding at the NSCF level, with a pretty much brand new secondary, a new quarterback, halfback and various freshman who are playing as back-ups this year." Coach Troxel said, continuing, "but our form in the MNCF, possibly the premier domestic college football league in the world, shows that we can still more than keep up with the best and shows that we should definitely aim for a berth in the second round of the play-offs this season."

High hopes for the Royals from their coach.

The Team.

    The Coaching Team.
UAD have lost a few members of the Coaching Staff that was absolutely crucial to the Royals run to a 12-1 regular season record and a #1 seed going into the play-offs. Obviously, offensive coordinator, Vaclav Treblik left for Frbiba State early on in the season, but that isn't all the Royals have lost. They have also lost long-time defensive backs coach, Andreas Vignitz to MNCF rivals Decraa College and Receivers Coach, Leon Reilly to UT (University of Thessia/Thessia). Some key coaching staff had to be replaced, and were replaced with young coaching talent rather than approaching older coaches from other teams. Brought in was Sergei Lavrov, a former UAD player, a former safety for the Royals is the new defensive backs coach - the 29-year old didn't have much success in becoming a starter in the MFL, so decided to apply for the role of DB Coach back at his old school. Another young coach that has been brought in was Freddie Brenna, former quarterback for ENU a couple of years back. Coach Troxel thought it'd be a good idea to have a quarterback coaching receivers in order to tell them what their quarterback wants them to do on routes, how to get open and such. Of course, Brenna was also a wide receiver for his first couple of years at college and only switched to quarterback in his last two years at ENU, so he knows what to tell his positional players to do in order to improve them, the 26-year old will be the youngest UAD coach ever employed. A good solution to Vaclav Treblik packing his bags up and leaving for Frbiba State would have been to somehow coax Mikjel Ostgurn out of going to the MFL and joining the coaching staff, he would have been an expert offensive coordinator. Calling the plays for Erritel Hikhrela to find some great wide-outs on the offense, but would he be able to get the run-game going as it should do, probably not. Fact is, he was always going to be drafted into the MFL - so UAD had to go searching for a new offensive coordinator. They found a decent guy in the form of Thessia State offensive coordinator Filip Toman, the Royals poaching a good guy from one of the biggest programs in Mytanar college football. Toman is a less aggressive coordinator than even Vaclav Treblik was, and he was a pretty balanced guy. Toman will pretty much never go for it on fourth down, unless it's late in the game. He pretty much always runs the ball on first down and just doesn't make many big play calls. Hopefully he can further cool Coach Troxel's desire to pick aggressive plays as often as he can. It is doubtful he will, but I can't see Toman letting Troxel walk all over him like Treblik did. With a talented halfback in Ihor Voronkov, having a coordinator who is more in tune with the run-game is an extremely good thing and can only improve this team, we should run the ball more and with Hikhrela running the option offense may even be a possibility at times - but it is expected that the Royals will stick to their pro set/splitback formation, before moving to a spread offense with Marc Zotov next season. The defense retains much of the same, apart from the aforementioned change in defensive backs coach. Everybody on campus is pretty glad that Wadislaw Resoek is still on the staff, meaning we won't send the blitz on every single play as Rob Troxel would perhaps like to sometimes. The base formation will still be the 4-3 defense, with a lot of zone coverage being used. Here is the coaching staff for this season:

    The Offense.
    Coordinator: Filip Toman
    Base Formation: Pro set/splitback formation.

So, Erritel Hikhrela takes the helm of an offense that has been Mikjel Ostgurn's for the past four seasons, it is a seismic change away from an offense that could dominate games by scoring almost at will at times to one that could seem extremely unsure of itself. With out Ostgurn to direct this offense in the right direction on the field, could it begin to fall away from the pack in an unforgiving league and conference? We doubt it, new offensive coordinator should inject a bit of life into the offense as a new coach - even if he is the most conservative playcaller we've had at the university for a long while. We had Viktor Mujassen two seasons ago as a strong run threat and an average one in Tomas Pamic last year, this season that all changes as we have Ihor Voronkov in the backfield, a halfback who has the speed to beat defenders to the outside, but the power and strength to punch holes up the middle. This offensive team has possibly the strongest offensive line UAD has had in years. We have retained all the members of the unit whilst bringing back some key back-ups from redshirting, it will be a strong, strong team that could block defensive units out of the game - expect very few sacks on our quarterback over the course of this season. Sofiane Vunderink will be key to this, the senior right tackle will protect the quarterback's openside, giving Hikhrela assurance to focus on his blindside - where he'll have more than adequate protection from Ewout Moller and Vladimir Vasek - both of whom will be beasts as juniors. The great thing is about this line is that four out of five members of the line are juniors, so they will have one more season after this - giving us the option to add to this and also to give more players a chance to develop. Anyway, here is the full offensive squad:

Well, UAD lost only a few members of the offense last season - but the players they lost were key pieces, first choice quarterback, wide receiver, halfback and an important slot receiver all lost. The Royals have replaced them with some outstanding talent, particularly at wide receiver and halfback - where two players who could well exceed their predecessors in future seasons. Of course, the biggest graduation is Mikjel Ostgurn. He will be replaced by Erritel Hikhrela, a quarterback who was his understudy for three seasons before redshirting last year - he has learnt from one of the best at that is extremely valuable. Hikhrela is an extremely undersized quarterback (but as is his back-up, Marc Zotov), but the UAD coaching staff don't seem to consider this a problem. Hikhrela has certainly proved the doubters wrong as he passed for over 5,000 yards in the MNCF (although this type of yardage will most definitely not translate to the NSCF - Ostgurn passed for around 5,700 on average each MNCF season, which was decreased to around 3,750-4,000 in the NSCF), averaging 347.5 yards per game through the air. He doesn't offer any threat with his feet, but that hopefully won't matter with Ihor Voronkov in the backfield. Hikhrela doesn't have a rocket arm, like Ostgurn did, but he is insanely accurate - and that will be important in the NSCF. Medium-range passing combined with a stronger running game could be an extremely potent attack for this offense.

Moving onto this running game, Ihor Voronkov will replace Tomas Pamic at halfback - Voronkov is in his sophomore season and will be an important part of this offense, if he can perform well, the chances of victory will be greatly improved as we will no longer have to rely on the strong pass attack. If Voronkov can offer a strong run on the ground, it will combine with this passing game and will mean we can run a lot of draw-plays and play-action passes to try and get the defense biting on one or the other type of play. Tomas Pamic wasn't the best at the position, but that could have been with him changing from fullback to halfback in his senior year - so Voronkov won't have anything to compare to, which he'll happily embrace and hopefully it'll motivate him on to some form that can rip apart the Sequoia Conference. Yuri Zukov at wide receiver is being replaced by sophomore Sawa Efremov who is speedy and has perfect hands, his release from defensive backs will have to be improved if he wants to reach the next level - and one thing that can't be helped is his size, but his speed should hopefully grant him enough room to make catches down the sideline, it will be surprising if he is used over the middle because he will just get crushed here, unlike his predecessor at the position.

Jaromir Kudryashov was the #2 high school quarterback when he was recruited by UAD, he seems to have gone to waste almost - slipping down the depth chart due to the play style used in the Royals' program. It may be wise to redshirt him next season, perhaps using him as a player to use in an option offense in the future - something Coach Troxel is reportedly a fan of, the option offense is difficult to run, but Kudryashov could be someone who could pull it off in future.

Lots of players have been redshirted this season, with deep cover at almost every position on the field. Arne Kitz, a player recruited as both a quarterback and wide receiver is being redshirted - due to the great cover at wide-out and the high hopes for the quarterbacks that are on the roster, Kitz has been kept for later on. A couple of wide receivers - freshman Zinovy Azarov and sophomore Vlad Zhirov - have been redshirted, once again due to the great depth at the position. Two tight-ends, senior Emil Baryshnikov and sophomore Iskander Tretiakov (Tretiakov in particular is expected to take over from Marijan Bilic when he graduates), are on the redshirt list. A whole offensive line is being redshirted, Blokhin, Bezrukov, Abramoff, Hartman and Efimov all being deemed surplus to requirements for the season and finally, Dennis Yudin, sophomore right tackle and potential starter in the future is being redshirted, with great cover at the position - with the best member of the line, Vunderink playing there and back-ups Tebbe and Bodrov being more than adequate. In total, 11 players have been redshirted this season, the most for a few seasons on the offense.

The weaknesses on this offense are mostly just the depth at a couple of positions, we only actually have two fullbacks on the roster anyway, after missing out on recruiting one in the past season. We only have two players at left tackle and right guard on the depth chart, which could be another tactical oversight by the coaching team, but the quality of players at other positions on the o-line means they can probably shift over if the problem arose. It is doubtful that both of our players at one position will get injured, but it shouldn't be a huge worry on the o-line as players can shift around, but if both of our fullbacks were to become injured, we may well have a real big problem.

    The Defense.
    Coordinator: Wadislaw Resoek
    Base Formation: 4-3 Defense.

Well, if you thought there was a lot of change on the offense - with two new members in the backfield and a new wide receiver to break-in on that side of the ball - wait until you see the seismic changes to the defense. It must be a great deal of help to Coach Troxel to have managed to keep much of the coaching staff, as, if they had lost any more members of the defensive coaching staff, they may well have had a nigh-on impossible job of piecing a strong defense back together. The main problem was produced by the sheer number and quality of players graduating from last season, with four starters graduating and two back-up players also leaving for the MFL or for proper jobs. A pretty much brand new secondary has had to have been put in place, with Jackson Golding, the Citiz free safety sustaining an injury in the off-season that will keep him out for about eight weeks of the NSCF regular season, so redshirt senior Matia Drazumeric has had to take up the mantle, but more on that later. There is also a change in the defensive line and the linebackers corps, but there is also a whole hoard of new back-ups that have to take up the job of replacing starters that get injured and for the younger ones, getting ready to become the starter at the position in the future.

The huge poster of Wojtek Adamski, one of UAD's favourite ever player still adorns the wall of the south endzone stand. A new one has joined him, the poster of Serhij Lokaj, the best defensive back to ever come out of the Royals' program, is now next to Adamski on that same wall, which is quickly becoming a wall celebrating the best defensive players to have come out of the University of Alzburg-Dyka. Lokaj graduating alongside his fellow cornerback Zymer Didmar has left two huge holes in the secondary, leading to promising sophomore Gordey Zubarev taking the starting role alongside true freshman Audvar Sommerstad, the bluechip prospect out of Khabarovsk Krai getting a chance to shine in his freshman year, which he did especially so in the MNCF. We've already discussed Jackson Golding's injury, which was a rather silly one (that stemmed from consumption of too much alcohol and a bad fall), meaning Matia Drazumeric has had to take the starting role there - leading to three new members of the secondary.

Eustachy Rutkowski has also graduated, leaving a hole on the defensive line. It has been replaced fully, with Gore Sidorov a senior defensive tackle has taken his place and will perform brilliantly, as is always expected from any Royals' player. The defensive line is a position where we have an absolute wealth of talent and should continue to do so for years to come with some stellar recruiting, especially in the form of Gerard Carson, the defensive linemen out of Michael VII who is a back-up in his freshman year and should take over from starlet Fadi Pereira next season. Of course, we also have Marwan Pijnenberg - a player who may well join Wojtek Adamski and Serhij Lokaj on that endzone wall one day - for both this season and next, meaning the strength of the position should continue for at least the next couple of seasons.

At linebacker, UAD lost left outside linebacker Mijo Vrenko to graduation. He's been replaced brilliantly by Johnson van Eekeren, a redshirt sophomore who had good experience in his first season before redshirting, starting a few games due to injuries to team mates and such. Johnson van Eekeren is adept at stopping the pass in coverage whilst also aggressively chasing the ball on run-plays and when the quarterback drops backwards in the pocket. He will be a star of this team, we're sure - we have a strong linebackers corps once again, retaining Simmundsson and Veronek who remain two of the best all-purpose linebackers in Mytannion and possibly in the NSCF too. Of course, our defense is possibly the best in the NSCF entirely - with two back-ups at every position and some of the best starters in the league. Our back-ups are so good that players that were recruited extensively out of high school like Yaroslav Bocharov, Ivan Solich and Farid Lavrov are third on the depth chart and even bluechip prospects are being redshirted.

Coming onto redshirting on defense, with full-strength at every position, a few decent prospects have had to redshirt. Top linebacker prospects, Nestor Pirogov and Jaromir Karzo have had to redshirt due to the pure strength of the position in our squad. Rinat Tokaryev, a highly sought after recruit at the safety position has redshirted because of the strength at strong safety, with Esko Hauta-Aho being a two-year starter as he goes into his junior year and a redshirt junior as a back-up and a highly-recruited strong safety in Ivan Solich too. We will have an absolute wealth of talent at this position come next season where we will have two seniors, a sophomore and a redshirt freshman at the position, only one of the four (Ivan Solich), can realistically redshirt - but this will be useful once both Hauta-Aho and Grassie have graduated as we'll have two players with great experience competing for the starting role. Other than these players, Mayor Glazkov, sophomore middle linebacker, sophomore free safety Arkady Kirillov and Thomas Vasiliev sophomore cornerback are redshirting, meaning seven players are redshirting on the defense in total (18 in total on the whole team). Anyway, here's the defensive depth chart for this season:

    Defensive Depth Chart.

    Position 1 2 3
Left Defensive End Fadi Pereira Gerard Carson Robert Gorbunov
Left Defensive Tackle Gore Sidorov Oscar Ignatyev Ernest Andreeff

Free Safety Matia Drazumeric Jackson Golding Hilarion Golubev
Strong Safety Esko Hauta-Aho Carey Grassie Ivan Solich

    Special Teams.
    Coordinators: Tomas Danzig/Dan Wilkerson.

The loss of two kickers, with both being important in their own way, has meant that UAD will have to use two freshman as their kickers for their NSCF 6 campaign. A dangerous situation for the special teams' coaches to be in, freshmen can often be put under pressure and when this happens, they tend to collapse underneath the weight. This of course then means that they don't perform to the best of their abilities and whilst that may not seem a huge thing in the special teams unit, it is for kickers. Kickers can win and change games, 3 points is as good as a touchdown sometimes. A game-winning kick is more important than most things in a game if that is what it comes down to. Will these two freshman kickers be able to take the heat if it does come down to a game-winning kick as time expires? We're not sure yet, but they may not be able to do so - which will come back on the coaching team if it happens at a crucial stage of the season, as they haven't exactly shown foresight by redshirting a more experienced kicker so we have a good starter whilst these two develop. Here's the team:

    # Name Position Height Weight Year Notes
    0 Chariton Bogdanov LS 6-2 220 SR
    8 Maxim Ignatiev K 5-11 182 FR
    9 Grigori Komarov K 6-1 190 FR
    14 Armen Kirillov P 5-11 189 SO
    21 Roland Mironov P 5-9 170 SO
    99 Avdei Boholyubov KR/PR 5-10 202 SO

    Key.
    Redshirts - Red.

Well, there isn't much to say apart from the fact that Esperij Geberec and Tevz Gnedic, two extremely reliable kickers have graduated and been replaced by Maxim Ignatiev and Grigori Komarov for the upcoming season. The two punters, Armen Kirillov and Roland Mironov return for their sophomore years, both proving decent in their freshman season. Chariton Bogdanov is in his senior year, the long snapper isn't of huge importance - but it is useful having a specialist at the position rather than using back-up centres to do the job. Avdei Boholyubov will hopefully be more explosive this season than he was last, he was reliable and didn't drop the ball, but he didn't exactly help the offense out, often only making small returns with the ball and it would be nice to have an x-factor on special teams that can provide some big plays this season and help us to surprise other teams. Anyway, the final depth chart of this report for you:

    Special Teams Depth Chart.

    Position 1 2
    Kicker Maxim Ignatiev Grigori Komarov
    Punter Armen Kirillov Roland Mironov
    Long Snapper Chariton Bogdanov
    Kick/Punt Returner Avdei Boholyubov

And that is the whole roster for your digestion, Royals fans!

Team Honours:
    • Mytanar National Collegiate Football Championship x 11
    • MNCF EN-8 Conference x 26
    • NSCF Sequoia Conference x 2

Another victory in another MNCF Championship Game just furthers their lead ahead of other Mytanar colleges in the domestic league. It will be interesting if that form continues in future seasons of the MNCF, we doubt it will, as certain colleges (Decraa College, Alex Util, UT etc), continue to rise in quality and recruiting power and this could make it more difficult for UAD in the domestic league - but what is perhaps more important for the Royals is how they do in the NSCF - it brings in the majority (by far, the majority, too) of the school's income in the athletics department and the television deals and such that come from this are even more lucrative. The two Sequoia Conference titles should tell you all you need to know - UAD couldn't grab them in the first two seasons they were a part of the NSCF, but in NSCF 4 and 5, they managed to get a stranglehold on the conference. With out some of the talent that has graduated, some around UAD feel it is unlikely that this can be carried through NSCF 6, especially with RMU looking extremely strong in spring training. If Erritel Hikhrela can lead the Royals to a conference championship, he'll have done a fantastic job. The goal for this season is the second round of the play-offs, if he gets there, he'll have done exceptionally. If he gets an NSCF Championship ring... Well, he'll be one of the most unexpected quarterback's to lift the crystal ball trophy ever, he's not at that level. We're waiting for Marc Zotov to be, once that happens, well.. The sky is the limit in Alzburg-Dyka.

"Go you Royals, go!"

For the 2012 NSCF VI season the Anchors of Port Salem, the Anchors find themselves with a new head coach in Todd Shuler, for the thrid time in two seasons. Coach Shuler said his goal as coach is to get Port Salem to the Championship Game, hopefully during this season. Now Port Salem found themselves in a pit during the off season, really their stadium that the University leases from ATD Insurance had to be demolished after its foundation became weakened when during a rain storm a small sinkhole opened up. Now for this season Port Salem finds themselves back at their old stomping grounds where they first played ball. Ledger Stadium with a capacity of 43,800 and located in downtown Port Salem (Poor suckers if you're driving). For this season the U of Port Salem has merged its Radio and TV networks together to form the UNI-CON Network.

(Home Is on the Left. Away is on the Right)

McRoss was preparing for his second season as kicker for the West TaQud University. He was going to practice his kicking until someone interrupted. "Looks like We will see your kicking ability this year again huh?" McRoss turned around and it was Jack Jugle smiling. The starting QB of last year's team and this year's team. "Just anticipate another year of excellent kicking." Replied McRoss. Jack then left the locker room to start practicing his accuracy and one play pass completions for first down. McRoss then walked outside to see most of his teammates from last year. Though there are rookies this season. McRoss saw Julio practicing his punting. One punt went haywire and actually came at McRoss. Luckily McRoss caught the ball. McRoss then went on the field to give the ball back to Julio. "Warming-Up?" asked McRoss. Julio then said "Just hoping to get long punts like last year. Maybe this year I'll be the most talked about kicker this year." said Julio winking at McRoss. McRoss then went up to the 40 yard line. He called over Livingston Germon to hold the ball for the kick. "Hike!" yelled McRoss. McRoss then kicked the football. It managed to stay center but somewhat curved to the left. "You still got it." said Livingston. Coach Foutsly then walked over to McRoss. "Well I see you didn't lose your touch. Or kick for that matter." said Foutsly joking to McRoss. "How's the recruits?" asked McRoss. "Not Bad. Some got potential. Some may be a bust but thats what college is all about. To see who's good and who's bad. Catch you later." said Foutsly. McRoss then went back to kicking his Field Goals...

Choose my scorers: YES
Choose scoring events: YES
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but I determine severity

23University of Califasat LosAngeles Bruins in NSCF 6
Campus location: Westwood, Los Angeles, LA 95
Stadium: The Rose Bowl at 1001 Rose Bowl Drive, Pasadena, LA 103
Climate: Hot (85F/29C to 105F/40.6C) in the early season and intermittently throughout the rest of the year, with humidity ranging from Very Low to 35%; generally warm (72F/22C to 85F/29.4C) with low humidity, with occasional rain near the end of the season (pretty rare). Earthquakes and heat waves are probably the only weather interruptions that should ever happen at the Rose Bowl; conditions leading to an unacceptable risk of heatstroke (etc) may lead to several hours' delay, once in a blue moon. In the middle to late season, it will be chilly at night (58F/14.4C to 65F/18.3C). Santa Ana winds over the nearby mountain ranges can cause seasonal allergies to flare up in autumn.

The University of Arkinesia Wyverns come off a successful season ending in a one-point loss to Frbiba State in the championship game.

Head coach Bryan Welker returns but with a new offensive coordinator and philosophy. Instead of the run-based spread offense of Wyvern teams past, the Wyverns are running a passing- and ace-based offense to take advantage of Leonard Coulter's cannon throwing arm. The defense returns with its 4-3 zone base.

Behind fifth-year senior Leonard Coulter, the Wyverns hope to make good on their result last season and instead of a runner-up position, take home the title. Roster stories will be listed in their appropriate sections below.

QB
I. Leonard Coulter - SR (RS)
II. Lance Presti - JR
III. Jeff Fullmer - FR

Kelly Hammes won a position battle with Guy Giannone for running back. Giannone is a speedster, but Hammes' hard-nosed running style better-suited new OC Joe Sparling's air raid offense.

HB
I. Kelly Hammes - JR
II. Guy Giannone - SO (RS)
III. Brian Hammers - FR*

Can one of these two freshmen break out this season?

FB
I. Glenn Railey - FR
II. Louis Langford - FR

Clinton Sparling, a surprisingly good junior, has meshed well in his shift from left tackle to right tackle. The new offense probably hasn't hurt.

TACKLES (offensive)
I. [LT] Jerrell Walls - SR (RS)
II. [RT] Clinton Sparling - JR
III. [LT] Gary Haumiller - SR (RS)
IV. [RT] Carlos Shank - JR (RS)*
V. [LT] Todd Embree - FR
VI. [RT] James Crowell - FR

The two left guards on the roster are freshmen. Nelson Sleeth, a sophomore, is expected to become the starting left guard, leaving Delawder to back up starter Javier Lembo.

GUARDS
I. [LG] Nelson Sleeth - SO
II. [RG] Javier Lembo - JR
III. [LG] Frank Sawicki - FR
IV. [LG] Terry Baldwin - FR
V. [RG] Cody Delawder - SO

Fifth-year senior Colt Gilbert is one of the few returning offensive linemen this season.

CENTERS
I. Colt Gilbert - SR (RS)
II. Cliff Tremont - SO

A veteran backup receiving crew now becomes a veteran starting receiving crew. Jamie Brocato, a well-known deep threat in his high school days, is the primary right-side receiver, and Tomas Lopez, a reliable pass catcher, moves into the primary left-side role. Lonnie Dufault is expected to split downs with Lopez.

RECEIVERS
I. Jamie Brocato - JR
II. Tomas Lopez - SR (RS)
III. Lonnie Dufault - JR
IV. Jason Akin - FR
V. Jeff Hibbs - FR

TIGHT ENDS
I. Waldo Wood - SR
II. Christian Corle - JR
III. Terry Luevano - FR

DEFENSIVE ENDS
I. [RE] Bret Becker - SR
II. [LE] Alvaro Bankey - SO
III. [RE] Rod Betran - SO**
IV. [LE] Lonnie Helt - SO
V. [LE] Larry Benedict - SO*

DEFENSIVE TACKLES
I. Theo Starke - JR
II. Marlin Lawrence - SO
III. Mathew Espiritu - JR
IV. Hugh Lovern - SO

LINEBACKERS
I. [ROLB] Kendrick Glendening - SO
II. [MLB] Cary Tran - SR
III. [LOLB] Cletus Sweet - SR (RS)
IV. [LOLB] Jonathan Driscoll - FR
V. [MLB] Robert Seta - SO**

DEFENSIVE BACKS
I. [RCB] Allen Cheatham - SO**
II. [LCB] Dorian Dixon - SR
III. [FS] Brian Knudson - FR
IV. [SS] Jason Howard-Goins - SR (RS)
V. [RCB] Stephen Roscoe - SO
VI. [LCB] Todd Govan - FR
VII. [FS] Eugene Weiler - SO (RS)*
VIII. [SS] Shawn Irby - SO

SPECIAL TEAMS
Kicker: Richard Mauney - SO
Punter: Jeremy Wentz - FR
RS: Guy Giannone

*Currently unavailable due to transfer or redshirting
**Eligibility held back due to previous transfer

So the other day I was at the University and walked into that beaut of a trophy room that we have, and what made me come here and write about this, was those three conference championship banners hanging so nicely on the east wall. Three years in a row we've won the Mineral and what make this different is that these past three years we've beat thirty-one teams from other countries, supposedly their best, but we manage to beat them. Now that is the Mineral we've only won two playoff games though we're 2-3 in the playoffs. But think that over we've won 33 games from colleges from other countries and have only lost six times.

So the fifth NSCF season is just around the corner, so here we are our Port Salem Anchors have come off another thrilling season, but once again didn't make it any further into the playoffs. Wow, just wow three strait seasons we win the conference championship get to the quarter-finals and lose. Really I do enjoy the conference championships but seriously i'd rather see another trophy back in that trophy room. Port Salem back in the old NCAA won over 30 national titles and here we should have at lest once made an appearance in the title game, but no we always trip in the playoffs.

So now we have yet another head coach, Tom Shuler who says that the team will win the NSCF Title during his tenure, well I do hope he's right, because getting into the quarter finals is nice and all, but like the rest of you I want more. So here we are getting very close to the opening kick-off and the schedule's haven't been released yet...I know really!

Anyhow at lest we know who will be this years victims for the Anchors to toy around with, like you know the Anchors are heavily favored to win their fourth Conference title, but not very favored to win it all. So four this year we have a few new teams yet again, Aldin Tech ehh i'd say a sweep. Hantz Provincial...sweep. Mendella..sweep. Salem..Ha ha ha..oh god I hope they use the mercy rule! Finally Valor Coast, they are only the third team from this conference to beat Port Salem which they did week four and nineteen to six hurting, oh well in week nine we beat the crap out of them forty-three to three. Ahh...justice was sweet. Eh..so judging by this years' i'd say ten and oh.

Now then, this year Port Salem will play in two non-conference games, the first will be against the Jagoza Groundhogs who if i'm right has made it to the semi-finals once, i'm not really sure about that just guessing. An the second one will be a rematch of last years quarter final game against Scott City Broncos, that will be a very good game after they blanked us ten nothing last year. Now both of those games will be away, no problem.

Now I was going through the teams stats, and we all know their record from the past three seasons, Port Salem is 35-6 overall, but we are 33-3 in the Mineral. Incase no one remembers which very lucky three teams have beaten us here they are; Mionykos from NSCF II who beat us 20-16, also from that first season we lost to Arden 36-23. Finally last year when Valor won 19-6. However between that Arden loss and the loss to Valor Coast, Port Salem had previously won seventeen strait conference games from NSCF III to the first three games of last year Port Salem was 27-2 in the Mineral. By which if you remember in NSCF III the Mineral Conference was brand new, so of course us Anchor fans can say that we own this conference, well because we've never been swept by any team and we've won the conference title every year thus far.

Mineral Conference
Aldin Tech Wasps
Hantz Provincial Tigers
Mendella Lions
Port Salem Anchors
Salem Saints
Valor Coast Cyclones

University of Stalhamark -- Dunnmaar Campus
Type: Public (State-Run) University
Location:
- City: Dunnmaar - Dunnmaar is a city nestled in the mountains of Stalhamark, and is noted for being the second-largest city in a densely-populated state, as well as being a bastion of heavy industry and independent political power. The city is also home to the Dunnmaar Destroyers, an AGL team. The people of Dunnmaar are very passionate about both college and professional gridiron.
- State: Stalhamark - Stalhamark is a very densely-populated, mountainous state that is more-or-less defined by the Bluwaald Mountains. Most cities in the state are heavily industrial, and in the late fall through early spring, it snows frequently and is often bitterly cold, conditions which Allamunnic gridiron players have taken to quite well.
- Country: Allamunnic States
Nickname: Skiltrum
- The nickname which the school's teams carry comes from the name for units in the armies of 16th and 17th-century Dunnmaar and Stalhamark. It refers primarily to pike formations which made Dunnmaarish armies particularly fearsome, and so it remains associated with Dunnmaar inexorably.

Head Coach:
Edryk Vaalburgur (Age: 51)
- Vaalburgur is one of the sons of former Leif's Harbor College and Allamunnic National Team coach Staevan Vaalburgur, who has carried on his father's legacy of running defensively-oriented, smashmouth-based teams.

Offense:
The offense is, as mentioned before, a smashmouth, run-first offense. The offense tends to work primarily out of the power-I formation, as well as other two-back formations. Though some claim the fullback is increasingly being rendered obsolete by versatile tight-ends and the increased focus on speed by many teams around the world, the Skiltrum makes heavy use of their fullback and tight-end to block. In terms of their passing attack, the Skiltrum don't have a particularly bad one, but nobody's going to blown away by senior Hendrik Skaellyn's numbers. He's a decent signal-caller, but he's more likely to have a professional coach as a back-up QB and then a coach rather than as a starter for most teams.

As is more or less a standard and well-known fact at this point, the Skiltrum have a good offensive line, which largely makes their offense possible. If there's one big play-maker, though, it'll be Anders Blumunn, who is a prototypical rough-and-tumble Allamunnic back, with the necessary break-away speed to take advantage of the power he uses to survive the front-seven.

Offensive Coordinator - Kyle Brenner (Aged: 47)

Starters:
QB#12 - Hendrik Skaellyn - Senior (21) - Ht: 6'3" - Wt: 223lbs - Pocket Passer

Defense:
The "skiltrum" was also the name of a defensive formation, and that heritage shows in Dunnmaar's team; the defense is quite a bit more dangerous than its offense. Vaalburgur has managed to put together a great front-seven; Petyr Dunn, Hendrik Vulks, and Joesuf Krow have been playing together for the last three years, and have started every year for the Skiltrum. Moreover, there's two great freshman linebackers who were considered some of the best prospects in the nation: Baeryk Bluwaald is the younger brother of the AGL Northwatch Mustangs' star linebacker Caarlus Bluwaald, and middle linebacker Theodur Untur was sought after by some of the nation's top collegiate teams, and even received offers to play in the AGL minor-league system, with the hopes of developing him into an AGL star. They are mentored by two very competent senior linebackers in Junn Kaarhulm and Seamus Fitzwilliam. Only the secondary might be considered a potential weakness, although it isn't bad so much as not being as dominant as the front-seven; Andra Skellenhulm and Francyska Junnlunn are quick, athletic corners who unfortunately lack for size, which is the secondary's main weak-spot. Senior Eliza Barrett, however, is a ferocious tackler, as is sophomore Strong-Safety Garrett Joseph. The defense makes use of a lot of blitzes and relies on stuffing the run and pressuring passers into making bad throws.

Defensive Coordinator - Derrik Vaalburgur (Age: 41)

Starters:
DE#66 - Petyr Dunn - Junior (20) - Ht: 6'3" - Wt: 298lbs - Balanced
NT#96 - Hendrik Vulks - Junior (20) - Ht: 6'5" - Wt: 341lbs - Run-Stopper

Special Teams:
Kelly Connover is a solid kicker who can probably expect to find work in the AGL after she graduates next year; she has hit field goals of 54 yards in games, and has shown potential to hit 60-yarders in practice, and is as consistent as can be within about 40-yards or so. When she's not close-enough, Sheila Langtry is capable of booting the ball an average of 46.8 yards down the field per-punt, which should help the defense in terms of field position. Maddy Torrence and Sam Travers both have some break-away speed, so if they can pick up the necessary blocks, they are certainly threats on returns.

Special Teams Coordinator - Mandi Lyndon (Age: 52)

Starters:
K#01 - Kelly Connover - Junior (19) - Ht: 5'4" - Wt: 128lbs - Place-Kicker

Roster (Starters in bold)
Quarterbacks:
16,Corey Ward (6’5”, 195 lbs, SR)
Corey Ward is entering his 3rd season as a starter for Aldin Tech. Last year, he racked up an impressive 3,306 yards and 35 touchdowns. He is poised to lead the Wasps to a great season, especially with what experts are calling the best receiving corps in ATU history.
43,Greg Faulkner (6’2”, 210 lbs, FR(RS))
18,Jonathan Jarvis (6’3”, 190 lbs, SR(RS))

Running Backs
32,George Santana (5’8”, 205 lbs, SO)
A walk-on to the squad last year, George Santana was a pleasant surprise, as he provided a breakaway threat that kept safeties honest, allowing Corey Ward to fully exploit opposing secondaries. Running Back has always been a notorious weakness for Aldin Tech, and they’re hoping Santana can provide some much needed stability.
68,Tom Goodwin (5’5”, 170 lbs, FR)
94,Peter Glenn (5’10”, 195 lbs, FR)

Wide Receivers
9,Manuel Durham (6’7”, 200 lbs, JR)
Standing 6’7”, Manuel Durham is an athletic specimen. With a breakout year last season, he solidified a spot in the starting lineup, and many team officials say he might even overtake living legend Eduardo Lindsey as the primary target.
21,Eduardo Lindsey (6’5” 190 lbs, SR)
Eduardo Lindsey enters his Senior year at Aldin Tech only 12 receptions and 88 yards away from becoming the most productive receiver in school history. This living legend has torched defense for three seasons, and barring injury, should win his 4th All-Star selection.
69,Jeffery Padilla (5’11”, 175lbs, FR)
As a star in high school, Jeffery Padilla was highly under-recruited by colleges that said he was too small. Aldin Tech decided to take a risk on him, and he has already won a starting job.
63,Zachary Vang (6’2”, 195lbs, SR(RS))
66,Manuel Lopez (6’0”, 165lbs, SO)

Tight Ends
34,Troy Dale (6’6” 245lbs, JR)
Troy Dale, with his massive frame, is the perfect wide receiver to round out the corps. He is also a premiere blocker, and is only 19 years old.
71,Glen Thornton (6’6” 240lbs, SR)

Tackles
36,Philip Finley (6’4” 295lbs, SR)
17,Milton Bernard (6’2” 280lbs, SR(RS))

89,Micheal Bryant (6’3” 260lbs, SR)
29,Lee Cabrera (6’1” 255lbs, JR)

Guards
24,Sidney Camacho (5’11” 230lbs, FR(RS))
41,Calvin McGee (6’6” 240lbs, JR)

70,Wade McGuire (6’4” 230lbs, JR(RS))
10,Clifford Haney (6’4” 230lbs, SR(RS))

Centers
64,Kelly Blake (6’2” 280lbs, SO)
74,Victor Salazar (6’2” 270lbs, JR)

Defensive Tackles
38,Anthony Rosario (6’8” 315lbs, SR)
91,Melvin Page (6’10” 300lbs, SR(RS))

99,Wayne Graham (6’9” 305lbs, FR)

Defensive Ends
96,Arthur Richardson (6’4” 230lbs, JR(RS))
22,Brad Navarro (6’2” 280lbs, FR(RS))

88,Michael Brown (6’4” 280lbs, SR)
37,Cecil Schroeder (6’4” 255lbs, FR)

Outside Linebackers
56,Joshua Holman (6’0” 230lbs, SR(RS))
The unquestionable captain of the defensive squad, Joshua Holman finished last season with an impressive 119 tackles, 14 sacks, and 3 interceptions, 2 of which he returned for touchdowns.
42,Tim Hull (6’1” 220lbs, JR)
A walk-on, Tim Hull fills in the shoes of former star Nikko Pulikainus. This will not be easy, but Hull’s combination of agility, speed, and field vision should seriously help him.
25,Sam Berger (6’1” 200lbs, FR)
Middle Linebackers
44,Julian Clarke (6’3” 245lbs, SR)
The ox to Joshua Holman’s bull, Clarke’s raw strength helped him to rack up 11.5 sacks last year, combining with Holman’s 14 to create one of the best pass rushes in the conference.
15,Oscar Love (6’1” 210lbs, SO(RS))

Cornerbacks
77,Harold Morris (5’8” 155lbs, FR(RS))
The weakest point of the Wasp’s team is their defensive back roster, and Morris doesn’t help. A 5’8” Freshman who ran a 4.9 40 yard dash, Harold Morris simply does not fit the bill for a number one cornerback.
55,Salvador Nguyen (5’9” 160lbs, SR)
Entering his 3rd season as a starter, Nguyen has only played eight games, as a series of leg injuries, the last of which he is not fully recovered from, have kept him on the sidelines.
73,Rodney Giles (5’8” 165lbs, JR(RS))

Safeties
47,Perry Scott (6’0” 185lbs, SR)
The lone star in the Aldin Tech secondary, Perry Scott has the speed and strength to shut down any receiver he goes up against.
23,Jason Ballard (5’11” 170lbs, SO)
Jason Ballard transferred last year from a local community college, and is hoping to slide in to the mechanism of the defense, but has been having trouble with mechanics in the latest practices.
87,Johnnie Roach (5’9” 190lbs, FR)
53,Bradley Meyer (6’1” 165lbs, JR)

Kicker:
48,Francis Valencia (6’4” 160lbs, FR)

Punter:
8,Roger Spencer (6’3” 200lbs, SR)

Head Coach: Christian Ayala (4th Year, 26-10)
Offensive Coordinator: Jay O’neil (9th Year)
Defensive Coordinator: Terry Harrison (2nd Year)
Special Teams Coach: Kelly Slater (22nd Year)

Riversburg-Madison University Ducks

Image

Riversburg-Madison lost a lot of talent from last year’s squad, yet the coaches and players are still confident that the Ducks will still have a great team to compete for the Sequioa Conference title. The departure of Quarterback Koos Vestergaard two seasons ago left a noticable gap at the position with Sophomore Quarterback Finn Mayrhofer struggling as his successor. Mayrhofer threw 344 passes last season, completing 207 of them for 2991 yards and and 19 TDs and 21 INTs. Sophomore Ryan Colloros looks set to challenge for the starting spot after a strong Spring practice. Tapani Välimaa will be the primary running back after a successful junior season in which he ran for 948 yards and 13 touchdowns. The offense also returns big-time offensive weapons Kristófer Salbergsson and Serdar Verlinden, who combined for more than 2,500 yards and 23 touchdowns through the air last season. RMU's defense, ranked No. 11 in NSCF last year in scoring defense, will still be intact and returning eight starters but will be feeling the loss of mammoth Cornerback Maciej Naaktgeboren who graduated. The Ducks will also be hoping to see instant impacts from incoming Defensive Freshmen Polycarp Yermolayev of Eastern Enns, Mytannion and Thaddeus Fyodorov who were both ranked in the top 10 of their position in various recruiting rankings.

MNCF.com

Three Royals that are set to shine in NSCF 6.

The University of Alzburg-Dyka football program has come so close to championships in recent seasons, but for multiple reasons, they have not managed to accomplish what they have set out to do. This year, all that is set to change. The Royals will not have total reliance on a passing game, resting on the arm of Mikjel Ostgurn, but will now have a more balanced offensive gameplan - they have someone who can actually run the ball and is in form. The defense is as strong as ever, but there are two in particular that are expected to shine this season. These are the players who are set to shine for the Royals in NSCF 6, and hopefully lead them to that elusive NSCF Championship that they so hope for.

It should be noted that the team's expectations are to just reach the Second Round of the play-offs, but we feel they have the quality to go a whole lot deeper in the play-offs than this. RMU are expected to return to top form this season, and the University of Korcyka (of Thatius), are expected to improve on their rookie year. Netteingen Tech can always be a handful and the addition of Decraa College, the second strongest team in the MNCF makes this conference even more difficult, but UAD should ease their way into the second spot in the conference, or maybe even better.

Ihor Voronkov, Halfback, SO.

With Ostgurn gone and an efficient game manager in at quarterback in Erritel Hikhrela, more weight will be put on the ground game in order to move the chains. Ihor Voronkov looks to be the one to take up the brunt of the ball carrying, he is an extremely exciting prospect and is set to be one of the players that will benefit from Mikjel Ostgurn leaving. You should also expect the presence of new offensive coordinator, Filip Toman to pay off most for the running back who is expected to become one of the most electrifying players in the NSCF this season. Voronkov has a good build, standing at 6'2 and weighing in at 212 pounds, he isn't a stereotypical halfback.

He has decent size but retains good acceleration, his awareness and vision are excellent and the two things mean that he can find gaps through which to run and exploit. This is probably his greatest attribute, the fact he can find the gaps and uses his speed to move through them. As he is tall and has wiry strength he can run through smaller players occasionally, especially cornerbacks, which is useful when he is given the ball on a pitch or similar.

Voronkov is a good running back, he has all the makings of one who could do very well in his sophomore season - especially as he will be given the ball more. There will be a balance between running and passing the ball this season, with running the ball becoming the norm rather than the ball being passed on every snap. He will hopefully become UAD's every down back, who can be relied upon to run the ball down the throat of the opposition at any time.

We expect him to make some electrifying plays this season and also expect him to rush for around 950 yards and to run in for 15 touchdowns. He may also add a few more through the air, being used on screens and when the offense experiments with the spread offense from time to time.

Marwan Pijnenberg, Defensive Tackle, JR.

Pijnenberg comes off the back of a season where he recorded 21 sacks, equalling the school record for career sacks and absolutely smashing the single season record. His tackles statistic left a lot to be desired however, and there is great hope that he can smash through the single season record for this in his junior year.

Pijnenberg is expert at chasing the quarterback out of the pocket and then has the speed to hunt them down, but he isn't so good when running backs break through the offensive and defensive lines and he has to make a play by bringing them down. His block shedding could do with a bit of work too, as he just uses his speed to move around offensive lineman, rather than taking a more direct route to the ballcarrier and so missing them from time to time.

This season, it is expected that he will have worked on and improved his shortcomings and will hopefully be the perfect defensive tackle that the hype suggests he currently is. He was only given so much hype because of his numerous sacks throughout last season, and a couple of forced fumbles. He will hopefully become a more rounded player, with less missed tackles, becoming better at chasing the ballcarrier, block shedding, tackling running backs as they run through the trenches etc.

We expect Pijnenberg to have a spectacular season in terms of statistics, recording a similar number of sacks as last season, with maybe about five forced fumbles too. We also expect there to be a huge improvement in the number of tackles he makes this season, we think he should reach nearly double his number of last season, we estimate at around 150-175 total tackles for this season. He will become a player that is feared globally, in the way that he is part of a defensive line that is already feared by most teams it is pitted against.

Pijnenberg will be another who makes some great plays throughout the season, we predict him bursting through offensive lines and leveling opposition team's quarterbacks, chasing them out of the pocket and crushing them, running back forced fumbles, almost snapping half backs in half and many other things.

We expect him to become the face of this defense and join Wojtek Adamski and Serhij Lokaj on the Wall of Defense, the wall commemorating some of the greatest defensive talents to ever play for the Royals, he'll have to make some decent plays to think of joining them ranks, even if he has broken some records.

Johnson van Eekeren, Left Outside Linebacker, SO.

Another sophomore makes our trio, van Eekeren is expected to be a huge talent and not just for this season, but for the rest of his college career. #61, will soon become a household name in the NSCF, even if he hasn't been a huge part of the team for the past two seasons, but the redshirt sophomore will become an important cog in one of the best oiled defenses in the league this year. This kid has all the qualities of a good linebacker and the intangibles needed to be a leader of this defense.

Linebackers are the heart of the defense and the defensive tempo is set by the enthusiasm and intensity of the linebacker play, most importantly, van Eekeren appears to have all the qualities needed to do this. He has the competitiveness and intelligence needed, wanting to beat the opposition's offense on every play, his intelligence makes him a good leader on the field, he can read offenses and see where he needs to be on the field in order to make a play.

He also has all the physical attributes needed, his toughness, speed, strength and agility are all above average - with him redshirting last season seemingly benefiting him in improving his agility and strength. When going against blockers in the run game he keeps his pads low perfectly and then when in pursuit of the ballcarrier he shows the desire and determination to get to them and bring them down. He is also remarkably good at stripping the ball from the ballcarrier, but has shown to use this more sparingly in the MNCF and training after being told to do so because of the broken tackles it led to at times, showing his willingness to be coached, which is always a good quality to have. His tackling is good too as he aggressively punches upwards into opponents when they run his way.

When in man coverage, he stays tight to his assignment and pressures them, if the ball comes his way he helps to lower the opposition's completion percentages by swatting the ball away. When in zone, he stays to his assignment on the field, rather than drifting outside his zone as you can often see lesser players do. He is possibly the best linebacker talent that UAD has ever had, better than Ragnar Simmundsson even, but this is a good thing as van Eekeren adds to an already strong linebackers corps, with only Veronek looking a weak point.

Now, why will he shine? Well, he is a linebacker who can intercept the ball and who is used in blitz packages a lot, as well as being an aggressive tackler and aggressive in pursuit. All of this means that his statistics could and should be astronomical. He should reach about 120 tackles for the season, around 5 interceptions, around 15-20 tackles for loss and a good sprinkling of forced fumbles and sacks. His skills across the board enable him to be able to reach these kind of numbers. Again, it's not just about the statistics though, he should be able to be another who can lead this defense that has to deal with what is basically a new secondary, between him, Ragnar Simmundsson and the defensive line, they will need to work hard to help break in this secondary.

Johnson van Eekeren should be a huge talent this year and should surprise quite a few people from other nations who may not have even heard of him before, but his statistics should tell everyone the whole story, with his performances telling them even more.

The Sequioa’s Top 5 Wide Receivers

Aleksi Tevarz - University of Alzburg-Dyka

Image

Now that Yuri Zukov has moved on to the ranks of professionals, the title of “Sequioa’s Top Wide Receiver" is up for grabs, and it seems like pretty much everyone would be fine with handing it over to UAD’s Aleksi Tevarz. Tevarz is a rare talent who is cut from the superstar mold, and he's been shining bright in East Nasto for the past two seasons. Since arriving at UAD, Tevarz has caught 176 passes for over 2,000 yards and scored 21 touchdowns. The 6'0'', 126-pound senior has the speed to separate down the field, the route-running prowess to shake any defensive back and the overall athleticism to create game-changing plays. It doesn't seem fair that one team can have both the best receiver and the best quarterback in a conference, but that will be the reality that Sequioa defenses will have to face in 2012 when they're forced to try to contain Tevarz and Royals signal-caller Erritel Hikhrela.

Javier Domínguez - Netteingen Tech

Image

There probably won't be many reasons to follow Netteingen Tech in 2012, as the Hyenas will likely be nothing more than a mediocre also-ran in the Sequioa Conference this season. However, they do at least have one player who is definitely worth checking out, and that's WR Javier Domínguez. Domínguez would be a star if he played on a better team, and he showed that last year when he caught 73 passes for 986 yards. The 6'1'', 194-pound junior can explode off the line, and he possesses a second gear to get behind secondaries and make big catches when the ball is tossed his way. Because he plays for a team that is not likely to challenge for the title, Domínguez probably won't receive a ton of praise. However, he's got the type of rare speed and playmaking ability that it takes to stick out from the crowd in 2012, even though he's going to play for a subpar squad.

Kristófer Salbergsson - Riversburg-Madison University

Image

Most onlookers were expecting Serdar Verlinden to be RMU's top receiver in NSCF 5, but it actually turned out to be Kristófer Salbergsson who had the biggest impact in Riversburg last season. Salbergsson ended up leading the Ducks with 89 catches for 1,207 yards and 11 touchdowns last year, and with Verlinden suffering from knee problems, he'll now be asked to perform at an even higher level in 2012. The massive 6'5'', 207-pound senior will have to deal with having a new inexperienced starting quarterback throwing him the ball, but that shouldn't hurt his production all that much. Coach Kyrill Rosenboom knows how to lead a successful passing attack, which he demonstrated during his time with Koos Vestergaard, and Salbergsson should play a similar role in Rosenboom's offense in NSCF 6 to the one Hjörtur Hallsteinsson did for the Ducks 2 seasons ago.

Sawa Efremov - University of Alzburg-Dyka

Image

QB Erritel Hikhrela and WR Aleksi Tevarz will be the two UAD players who will get pretty much all of the publicity over the summer, and they will enter the season as the faces of the offense. However, if the Royals truly want to make a run at a NSCF championship in 2012, they're going to need WR Sawa Efremov to play just as big of a role in the team's success. Last year, Efremov had a fantastic cameo freshman campaign, catching 54 passes for 479 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he showed the type of rare physical ability that you only see in truly special young receivers. The 5'11", 198-pound sophomore has the type of size, strength, natural explosiveness, route-running instincts and ball-tracking skills to be a true number 1 reciever. Efremov may have to take a backseat to Tevarz before the season starts but don't be surprised if he comes out and has just as big of a campaign, if not bigger, as his junior counterpart in 2012.

Wes Byron - University of Korcyka

Image

Korcyka has three receivers— Andrej Prević, Nick Franko and Wes Byron, who all have the potential to be standout players in the Sequioa this season. Prević and Franko were the two most productive receivers for the Warhawks in terms of catches last season, but it was Byron who made the most true "wow" plays, as he led the team with six touchdown receptions. QB Evan Loch will likely look for the 6'3", 205-pound junior much more often in NSCF 6, and Byron should play a key part in Korcyka's run at a conference championship this season.

OOC: After conversing with more experienced NS users, I have decided to let College Football be the only sport in which seasons occur in consecutive years. For my other sports, the World Cup occurs every two years, the World Bowl every four, the World Baseball Classic every four, the World Cup of Hockey every four... I usually go one IC year for every IRL month. However, in order to continue storylines that come with having a college, my NSCF/High School Football will be consecutive.
During the Off-Season...

As Sacred Heart University was approved by the NSCF to join the Horizon Conference, the rivalry between they and the Freedom's Altar University Flames became even more intense. The two teams will now play against each other twice a season, in what has become the greatest rivalry in Yesopalithan College Sports. The two colleges went on the recruiting hunt in their nation to grab the best nations. Even the players who were thinking about going to New Hazingafar University or any of the others were forced to consider the fact that joining a school that plays in the NSCF gives that player more exposure to the media and also prepares them better for the pro seasons ahead. It was a huge battle to grab some of the marquee players, and the results were a bit surprising...

Freedom’s Altar University Flames

Image
Courtesy of TGT Design

Freedom’s Altar University, established in 2005, is the first University to ever be created in Yesopalitha. The state-of-the-art, modern campus has 30,000 students, and teaches all disciplines. There had been numerous two-year colleges with four-year programs, but Freedom’s Altar University is the first big university in Yesopalitha.

The push has been made by the Board of Directors to start an athletic program for students as well as to generate revenue. Starting this year, FAU will have programs in football, basketball (men and women), baseball, and fastpitch. Here is the FAU football team.

Note: Unless specified, I will RP my team’s results one way or another…

RP Style: -3
Strong blitzing, turnover-generating defense, opportunistic, running, trick playing offense, field-position special teams

Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Jim Marksman, Jr. 35 years old

Coach Marksman was applauded after he led the Flames, led by Williams and Telmar, to the playoffs on their first NSCF season after winning the inaugural Horizon Conference title. Now, he will be judged by two things - whether he can lead the Flames back into the playoffs, and whether he can take down the Flames' bitter rivals, the Crusaders of Sacred Heart University. His system worked the first season he was in charge; will it work again is the question that is left to be answered. He is definitely in charge, though.

Offensive Coordinator: Troy Liseth, 41 years old

Now that Telmar has graduated, Liseth will be tasked with installing a system that will be easy for the offense to learn. Losing a player who could call the entire line audibles for you in an instant is, understandably, quite a blow. Now, Liseth will have to overcome that blow, because although the defense does help a lot, there needs to be some production from this offense in order to have the Flames go far.

Defensive Coordinator: Mark Anderson, 28 years old

Although Coach Marksman does a lot with the defense, specializing in it comes down to Defenive Coordinator Mark Anderson. This football junkie loves to blitz, and exotic coverage that quarterbacks have never seen will be common. He played free safety during his high school career, which gives him a bond with his safeties. His packages worked the first season. and now he'll try to lead the defense to even higher levels of play...

Special Teams Coach: Ryan Imbota, 30 years old
Coach Ryan Imbota leads the Special Teams. He will focus on field position more than the actual scoring, though he says that missed extra points will not be tolerated. A man of few words, FAU will most likely be doing a lot of onside kick drills.

Other Coaches/Trainers:

Running Backs/Fullbacks: Liam Trotter, 29 years old
Wide Receivers/Tight Ends: Erik Timer, 31 years old
Offensive Line Coach: Ricky Rimer, 35 years old
Quarterbacks Coach: Jimmy Balmer, 29 years old
Defensive Line Coach: Thomas Erkwine, 46 years old
Linebackers Coach: William Bennet III, 40 years old
Safeties Coach: Yttribe Kiljoy, 44 years old
Cornerbacks Coach: Ottawa Lineaus, 35 years old
Kickers/Punter Coach: Jack Kimberlake, 27 years old
Strength/Conditioning Coach: Evan Thompson, 36 years old
Team Physician: Dr. Ivan Mottam, 57 years old
Team Chef: Henry Rem, 45 years old

And now introducing the Freedom’s Altar University Flames:

OFFENSE

1. Quarterback
#8 Jared Newmann|Fr.|6 ft. 8 in.|245 lbs.
#4 Patrick Creighton|Jr.|6 ft. 2 in.|185 lbs.
#3 Timothy Henry|So.|6 ft. 5 in.|180 lbs.
#10 Benjamin Buccos|Fr.|6 ft. 1 in.|200 lbs.

The biggest story in training camp was the emergence of Newmann, a recent graduate of North Centralia High School, and the fact that he actually beat out everyone for the starting job. If he trips, Creighton has been around enough to know what to do, but Newmann is a big, young, energetic quarterback with a drive to learn and a drive to perform. He can throw, he can run, and he's a lefty, which causes all kind of headaches to defenses who don't know what to do about that. He is the future of the Flames, and his initiation starts now.

2. Running Back
#34 Andre Innouye|Sr.|5 ft. 8 in.|225 lbs.
#22 Victor Cassan|Fr.|6 ft. 4 in.|250 lbs.
#27 Taylor Ukhart|Jr.|6 ft. 0 in.|220 lbs.
#28 Ryan Kim|So.|5 ft. 11 in.|200 lbs.

This is the year for Andre Innouye to become the soul of the offense. With the Flames breaking in a new quarterback, they will need him to step up and be the leader of this squad. He had a decent season last year, but that was with Nero Williams under center. He must take even more responsibility now, and become the emotional leader of this team. Victor Cassan is an exciting freshman with a big body who cannot be taken down easily. Taylor Ukhart is just a solid back, and Ryan Kim is great at picking up blocks in third down and long situations.

3. Fullback
#43 Lance Uldrict|Jr.|6 ft. 0 in.|245 lbs.
#44 Thomas Biettre|Fr.|5 ft. 10 in.|265 lbs.

The fullback position is one of the most important ones on the roster for Freedom's Altar's ground-and-pound, play-action deep approach. With Chip Newman gone, Lance Uldrict will try to fill his shoes. Thomas Biettre is a good player, but he is new, so Uldrict must, hopefully, stay healthy.

4. Center
#66 Taren Hornby|Sr.|6 ft. 0 in.|330 lbs.
#65 Ken Mons|Jr.|6 ft. 3 in.|350 lbs.
#60 Ivan Komorov|Fr.|6 ft. 8 in.|350 lbs.

Taren Hornby gets the challenging job of replacing Rocky Telmar, the Flames' all-world center who went to the Yesopalithan National Team and led them to the World Bowl Quarterfinals. Hornby, though, should do fine, as he has been watching and learning from Telmar for the last three years. This is his chance to shine, and with their starting quarterback being so raw, the Flames will need him to make the same blocking reads that Telmar did last season. Perhaps, they will need even more. Komorov is a player with huge upside, but he will need a few years to become worthy of the starting line.

5. Offensive Tackle
#74 Troy Ulrickson|Sr.|5 ft. 10 in.|300 lbs.
#76 Austin Rehaut|Sr.|6 ft. 0 in.|310 lbs.

#68 Robert Tee|Jr.|5 ft. 11 in.|290 lbs.
#77 Mike Meham|So.|6 ft. 2 in.|325 lbs.

For two years, Troy Ulrickson and Austin Rehaut's talent has been overshadowed by the big man, Rocky Telmar. With him gone, it will the year for the tackles to shine as they collaborate with Taren Hornby to keep young Jared Newmann clean of many defenders. This is their year to shine, and they look ready for the job, with Ulrickson being better at rush-blocking and Rehaut being better at pass-blocking.

6. Offensive Guard
#70 Richard Lawson|So.|6 ft. 5 in.|315 lbs.
#63 Lewis McDommel|Sr.|6 ft. 3 in.|310 lbs.

#60 Samuel Danielson|Fr.|6 ft. 2 in.|325 lbs.

With one season under his belt, Lawson is turning out to be a great player, but will be asked to change to right guard as Jared Newmann is a left-handed quarterback. Lewis McDommel has been a solid player for many seasons, so the guards should be fine, with a lot of experience. Samuel Danielson will seek to learn from the sideline.

7. Tight End
#80 Joey Erickson|Sr.|5 ft. 10 in.|260 lbs.
#82 Gerald Monk|Jr.|6 ft. 1 in.|255 lbs.
#85 William Black|Fr.|5 ft. 9 in.|220 lbs.

The tight end is not a glamorous position for Freedom's Altar, but with their new tight end, William Black, that might change in the future. For now, however, Erickson will be the starter who catches, and Monk will be the backup who blocks. In the years to come, though... Black might become an integral part of the offense.

8. Wide Receivers
#84 Jimmy Houston|Jr.|5 ft. 11 in.|195 lbs.
#89 Cameron Nehandu|Sr.|6 ft. 0 in.|210 lbs.

#83 Justin Maxwell|Fr.|6 ft. 8 in.|200 lbs.
#86 Kim Mehandell|So.|6 ft. 2 in.|200 lbs.
#17 Benjamin Mitten|Fr.|6 ft. 3 in.|210 lbs.
#18 Quinn Heron|Fr.|6 ft. 5 in.|225 lbs.

Campbell and Hopkins both graduated, leaving the wide receiver spot wide open. Jimmy Houston, though shorter than the rest, is a great route-runner. Cameron Nehandu, although only a bit taller, is a speedster who can beat most cornerbacks. Then, there is Justin Maxwell, a freshman who is six feet, eight inches tall - he can catch pretty much everything thrown in his way. The other receivers are there to learn, and perhaps play in hail-Mary situations.

DEFENSE

1. Defensive Tackle
#73 Harold James|Sr.|5 ft. 11 in.|300 lbs
#62 Thomas Pallos|Jr.|5 ft. 10 in.|285 lbs.

#64 Kurt Yimber|Jr.|6 ft. 4 in.|310 lbs.
#65 Michelangelo Osamai|Fr.|6 ft. 6 in.|300 lbs.

Red Brune is gone, but Thomas Pallos and Harold James are up to the challenge of continuing the tradition of stopping the run. They are a lot better than the group from last year, and will most likely make some plays on the opposing backfield.

2.Defensive End
#55 Kyle Van Helstron|Sr.|5 ft. 11 in.|255 lbs.
#71 Merius Van Tramp|So.|5 ft. 10 in.|230 lbs.

#54 Sandoval Kai|Fr.|5 ft. 11 in.|265 lbs.

The defensive ends are lighter, and faster. They get to the quarterback, and come off the edge with quite some speed. This will be the time for Van Helstron and Van Tramp to shine, and to make all opposing offenses pay.

3. Outside Linebacker
#57 Iron Fist|Sr.|6 ft. 5 in.|245 lbs.
#52 Kenneth DeFoe|Jr.|6 ft. 2 in.|250 lbs.

#49 Enoch Yesopath|So.|6 ft. 10 in.|230 lbs.
#44 Zachary Hinegarden|Fr.|5 ft. 11 in.|250 lbs.

Iron Fist is an amazing player, and will be trying to go out with a bang. DeFoe is better at pass coverage, but Fist has a knack of getting to the ball like no other. Hinegarden is a freshman who has shown great speed, but this year, Fist will make a lot of plays.

4. Middle/Inside Linebacker
#45 Zachary Bommalli|Sr.|5 ft. 11 in.|245 lbs.
#51 Aleksander Demitri Ivanova|Fr.|6 ft. 0 in.|265 lbs.
#53 Bernard Hopkins|Fr.|6 ft. 2 in.|250 lbs.

It is true that Zachary Bommalli will get the start, but Aleksandr Demitri Ivanova is the one causing all the stir in the linebacker spot. The immigrant, who won't say where he is from, has such speed and technique that Coach Marksman can barely wait until he's versed enough in the game to start. He is quite a talent, and will be starting soon.

5. Safeties
#19 Jose Don Carlos|So.|6 ft. 4 in.|200 lbs.
#22 Daniel Johnson|Jr.|6 ft. 3 in.|195 lbs.

#21 Carson Yttrib|Fr.|6 ft. 1 in.|205 lbs.

Don Carlos will return, and try to build on a brilliant freshman season. Johnson returns as well in the Free Safety position, providing run support if needed.

6. Cornerbacks
#36 Isaac Lancaster|Jr.|6 ft. 6 in.|180 lbs.
#31 Mitchell Vander Lander|So.|6 ft. 4 in.|170 lbs.

#39 Marcus Octavius|Sr.|6 ft. 3 in.|175 lbs.
#37 Walter Tremmel|Fr.|6 ft. 10 in.|220 lbs.

Lancaster and Vander Lander will look to continue their solid play, as the Flames don't give up many deep touchdown passes. Octavius has proven to be a solid third corner, and Walter Tremmel won the Cornerback of the Year award at the high school ranks.

SPECIAL TEAMS

1. Kick Returner
#63 Kim Mendenhell|So.|6 ft. 2 in.|200 lbs.
#31 Mitchell Vander Lander|So.|6 ft. 4 in.|170 lbs.

Kim Mendenhell and Mitchell Vander Lander proved that they are the best Kick Returners during training camp. Kim is very good in open space, and Mitchell can break tackles. Mostly, Coach Marksman doesn’t want to risk injuring his starters in Special Teams.

2. Punt Returner
#31 Mitchell Vander Lander|So.|6 ft. 4 in.|170 lbs.
#37 Walter Tremmel|Fr.|6 ft. 10 in.|220 lbs.

Vander Lander will now get his chance to return punts and hopefully get the Flames in good field position. Tremmel has shown an aptitude for this as well.

3. Punter
#2 Henry Potts|Fr.|5 ft. 10 in.|150 lbs.

A new guy in town, Potts is good at distance, but not at directional punting. He may not give many coffin corners, but he can boot the ball fifty plus yards.

4. Kicker
#7 Ivan Ragnoroff|So.|5 ft. 10 in.|145 lbs.

Ragnoroff had a great season; he has been working on his kickoffs to boot the ball further, but his value as a field goal kicker is priceless.

Valor Coast University (sometimes referred to as The Valor Coast University) , stylized as Valor Coast University, is a large college located near Embasssy Row in the province of Cape Marshall. It competes strongly in the sport of basketball, and has recently strived to become successful in football (gridiron). Recently, VCU's GRIDIRON team left " Sector 1 Vettrera Regulated College Sports" to compete in "NSCF" as the rest of their sport teams still compete in the VRCS. The team finished at the bottom half of their conference the last season, but they hope to improve greatly this season.

Frbiba State University Firebirds Football Season Preview NSCF 6

Image

Who are we?
-The Frbiba State University is Michael VII's oldest university, dating back over 1000 years when it was known as Association of Colleges in Frbiba State, where the city of Frbiba was spread out among the entire Eastern bank of the Jagoza River. Founded in 966 SCE, the current Frbiba State University quickly became the flagship of the collegiate group, which led to the eventual consolidation of the ACFS into the one Frbiba State University at College Park. Frbiba State is regarded almost universally as the best university in Michael VII, found directly opposite fierce academic and athletic rivals, the University of Jagoza, located on the West Bank of the Jagoza. Upon the Eastern bank, the sacred Red and Gold colours fly predominantly over all colours, on the condition that no garment coloured as so touches the ground. Frbiba State boasts as the best team collegiate or professional in the town, even the country, and thus has huge fan support, especially at Riverside Stadium, which legend states is the House that God built.

The Frbiba State Firebirds are current NSCF Champions, and won the Woodlands Conference in NSCF 3, reaching the NSCF Championship in said season. Main rivals are Jagoza, to whom FSU hasn't lost to in 16 years; Arkinesia, to whom FSU has never lost to, including the NSCF 5 Championship Game; and Utica, the most successful of rivals, winners in NSCF 1 and 3 and have won the past 2 Woodlands titles, beating FSU the last 5 times they've met. And outside of the Woodlands, FSU has an annually scheduled marquee game against the Alzburg-Dyka Royals, who have a 1-1 record against FSU, the Royals coming off second best in the NSCF 5 Semifinal; along with Riversburg-Madison, which has a friendlier rivalry, FSU holding 2-0 record over the Ducks.

Where are we?
-Frbiba State University is located at the site of the Jagoza River delta, approximately 50km North of the coast, on the East Bank of the Jagoza River, just South of Frbiba Central. Directly opposite the river from the University of Jagoza, the flagship university of Jagoza, the commercial hub of Michael VII, Frbiba City being the capital and historical and political hub of our nation.

College Park
-College Park is the official area where Frbiba State is located, home to just over 20,000 permanent residents not attending the University. Thus College Park is by all means a College Town, though it is close enough to the city for large city gatherings when the team plays in College Park. College Park looks like an extant suburb of Frbiba City, as it home to a large amount of old style homes and looks like it was left in the 1800s while the rest of the nation developed. Often seen as a picturesque town, the Frbiban style of life is at home here, as the entire area is draped in Red and Gold, with the College directly making over 75% of the Town's GDP, showing College Park's huge reliance on FSU. Which is fair, as all grounds in College Park are actually owned by FSU, making the 20,000 residents, technically a part of FSU, and thus first in line for season tickets.

Red Plains Stadium at Riverside
-Or as the sponsors have made us say, Ritchies Stadium at Riverside, call it Red Plains, call it Riverside, call it Ritchies, call it what you like, but there is no parting this Red Sea! Red Plains is an on-campus stadium that is known for being an insane venue to visit. 50,000 people all dressed in red and gold, dwarfing the opposing team's fans and really being a scary place to visit in general. Few teams have succeeded here over the years, only Utica, UAD and St John's Island have had any success here, and is ranked one of the hardest stadiums to play in. There are a few reasons why, and the big one is because of the way we watch sports in our great nation. Red Plains has strict alcohol rules, it monitors your drinking, well, at least if you're not from here...Very few Michaeleans wish to get drunk while watching sports, as it is what makes us a difficult crowd to beat. We watch the game and criticise everything we can, we get into it. If you drink, you're missing out on the spectacle. Hooliganism isn't prominent here, and the tough to beat attitude is from the crowd that knows what's going on. The fans are all very close to the field, right on the players' backs, lifting the Firebirds up and bringing the opposition down crying to their knees. Watch out if you come, lest you wear red and gold.

Info
University Name: Frbiba State University
Motto: Ad Victoriam
Established: 966 SCE (OOC: Don't worry about current dates in M7, we don't really keep a record on it, but we'd estimate it is about 18 TCE)
Location: Frbiba City. (College Park of South Frbiba)
Nickname: Firebirds
Type: Public Co-Educational
Students: Undergraduates: 31,000. Postgraduates: 7,000. Staff: 2050.
Stadium: Red Plains Stadium at Riverside (Sponsor Name: Ritchies Stadium at Riverside)
Capacity: 50,000
Style: -3 (Defensive)

Offense: Smash mouth Offense, I-Formation base.
Defense: 4-3 base.

This season will see the last of the traditional Smash Mouth offenses, as legendary HB Fred Lewd is entering his final season. Throughout much of the season, more reliance will be on QB Fred Mallard to run the offense, as the pass attack will be utilised further as we look towards next season. As we say in Frbiba, there is no such thing as a rebuild year, we change on the run and adapt quicker than we change. A more in depth look on the team is to come here.

Coach: Aleksandr Valentino 28th year (16th with FSU)
-Ice cool Aleksandr Valentino, entering his 16th year at the helm of FSU, now with a Conference title and a NSCF title under his belt, will be looking forward to the future, as Fred Lewd is soon to leave and the days of the I-Formation Smash Mouth offense is nearly over, playing out to cater to a more pro-style offense with more base passing. A ruthless defensive coach, he'll lead the defensive line again to greatness with the assistance of Junior All-NSCF player Ronald Shiver.

Assistant Coach: Marius Salmons 3rd year (3rd with FSU)
-Salmons is a young coach with a bright future. Salmons finished his career at FSU as a mobile Tight End in the season before the Firebirds joined the NSCF, and is Valentino's right hand man, especially on the West Coast pass scheme, where mobile Tight Ends such as Salmons was very important.

Offensive Co-ord: Vaclav Treiblik [Mytannion] 17th Year (2nd with FSU)
Offensive Line Coach: Derrick Johnson 14th year (6th with FSU)
Offensive Backs Coach: Friedrich Metz 7th year (4th with FSU)
Receivers Coach: Martin Genf 4th year (3rd with FSU)

-The Offensive Coaching group has changed up, as Treiblik was put in charge after the regular in-conference season following issues with previous coach Markus Sanderson, who oddly enough disagreed with Valentino's Smash Mouth offense which is due to change after this season. Sanderson spent nearly a decade coaching in Frbiba, 8 with FSU, and another with the dismal Frbiba Tech, and advocated the West Coast as the only way to beat Utica and win championships. Treiblik has been brought in from UAD, as a Mytanar coach who was the leader under the great Mikjel Ostgurn's reign with the Royals, and should be a great asset to the table, especially being able to teach Fred Mallard and the QBs how to throw well on short pass routes.

Defensive Co-ord: Philip Otella 15th year (15th with FSU)
Defensive Line Coach: Jordan Ophelia 19th year (14th with FSU)
Defensive Backs Coach: Michael Ozil 11th year (11th with FSU)
Linebackers Coach: Kyle Ender 8th year (4th with FSU)

-The Defensive Coaching caucus hasn't changed at all since last year, and why should it. Long term coach Jordan Ophelia has been perfect with the D-Line, coaching up Ronald Shiver and the legend himself Melko Tchitcha to epic proportions at Defensive End. Ozil has been just as good with the DBs, seeing as all he was left with in NSCF 3 was 4 Freshman Safeties who should never have done well, but have. Otella leading the group having spent all of his 15 years with the Firebirds, being around almost as long as Valentino has the defensive game down pat, and thus the Firebirds continue to have the stingiest defense in the hardest conference to win.

Special Teams Co-ord: William Kyrt 4th year (4th with FSU)
Kicking Coach: Myles Carter 3rd year (3rd with FSU)

-The guys who don't get much credit are back, and this time with a bit more fame, as Kyle Xanthy and Dillon Brecht have made the Firebirds win many a game just by their pinpoint accuracy at the tee. Kyrt knows how to get a ball kicked well, and won't take any credit, not that he gets any, but definitely deserves a lot. Carter not so much, no one really ever sees him, he's weird.

University of Jagoza Groundhogs Football Season Preview NSCF 6

Image

Who are we?
-The University of Jagoza is Michael VII's second oldest university, and the oldest West of the Jagoza River. Located directly opposite the Frbiba State University, fierce rivals of UJ, the Jagozan teams, known as the Groundhogs, competing in Blue and Black are the best known team on the West Bank. Fellow competitors in the Riverside-12 Conference, UJ hasn't been quite as successful as FSU, though in earlier years the Groundhogs were the team to beat you BLACK AND BLUE, and to swarm teams on offense like GROUNDHOGS, and thus Jagoza got their names and colours. The University is extensively used all over, University Field being the National Baseball team's home ballpark, and Groundhog Field hosting the 17th World Bowl, along with being the site of the Jagoza 4A Football Championships, the premier High School tournament in the surrounding area. Recent failures, especially in NSCF play, have done little to demoralise Jagoza, who are just patiently waiting to get another win over FSU, which has been a LONG time coming.

Where are we?
Opposite Frbiba State University, on the West Bank of the Jagoza River, due South of the Main Centre of Jagoza, though still a part of Jagoza Central itself. The University essentially becomes a branch of the inner city, being very close to the CBD, and thus the games are often played just a short time after work finishes in the Business sector as a great way to end the day.

Jagoza City
-Jagoza City is the second largest city in Michael VII, home to nearly 20,000,000 residents. Jagoza is the business sector of the nation, the skyline being filled with skyscrapers and business buildings, creating a spectacular contrast to the historic setting of Frbiba. Jagoza is very modern and is filled with Frbibans day and night, who wish to experience the more wild nightlife, and also must commute to in order to find office jobs.

Groundhog Field
-Groundhog Field is the stadium of the University of Jagoza Football team, but also the site of the Track and Field team and the Lacrosse, Soccer and Rugby teams. In actual fact, all sports with a rectangular field use the amenities here. As such, Groundhog Field isn't quite as close to the action as Red Plains, but it does seat an extra 9000 spectators and is considered a more modern place. The acoustics aren't particularly great, but when 59,000 crazy Groundhog fans come in to cheer on the boys, it doesn't matter, it gets loud nonetheless, attracting praise nationwide as a great stadium to visit. Unlike Red Plains, we're a little less restrictive on alcohol, after a hard day's work, sometimes you just need a drink to relax and watch some great sports.

Info
University: University of Jagoza
Location: Jagoza City (Central City)
Nickname: Groundhogs
Colours: Blue and Black
Type: Public, Co-educational
Students: Undergraduates 24,000; Postgraduates 7,500
Stadium: Groundhog Field
Capacity: 59,000
Style: +4.5

Primary Offense: West Coast Offense, Shotgun Trips WR Base.
Primary Defense: 3-4 base.

As per usual, the West Coast will be used, with many snaps being taken from the Shotgun Formation, giving the QB the driving seat in taking leadership and control of the match. On defense, the 3-4 is going to be more experimental this year, as the 3-3-5 and 3-2-5 are going to be used more to try match the offensive talent in the Woodlands for a more stingy defense that will keep Jagoza more competitive this year. The first rebuild phase is this year, as QB Bryan Cousins and 12 other starters have graduated following NSCF 5, though there is still a very experienced roster this season, that will see a more proper rebuild next season. NSCF 6 should be more competitive for UJ than before. Even without BC at QB.

Coach: Joseph Marchild 10 Years (10 with Jagoza)
-In 10 years at the helm of UJ, not once has Marchild won the big rivalry game. Sure almost every year he's spanked the living hell out of Jagoza State, but it's not like that one really matters. They're JSU, they're even less relevant than Churchma is now to the College Football world. A loss to the Pirates is terrible, they're not even NSCF calibre, our JV teams regularly beat them. So, FSU has always been the big game, and it's been a failure year after year. It'd be nice to finally get one back, otherwise Bruce Hales may well take his job in the end, the hotseat has heated up, perform Joseph, or you're gone, WCO just hasn't worked out with the Woodlands Defense in 3 years, maybe we need a different direction?

Assistant Coach: Bruce Hales 15 Years (10 with Jagoza)
-Hales was first appointed by Marchild at Jagoza when Marchild took the helm as a rookie coach. Hales had an extra 5 years of experience, and seemed a good fit for Marchild. It worked well at first, although now it may be time for the Master to take over his Apprentice's role, as JM isn't being the Offensive mastermind that UJ needs, Bruce Hales is. Or at least has a better shot at it than Marchild does.

Offense Co-ord: Matthew Schnee 15 Years (4 with Jagoza)
Offensive Line Coach: Timothy Lane 3 Years (3 with Jagoza)
Offensive Backs Coach: Dieter Erdner 8 Years (6 with Jagoza)
Receivers Coach: Terrence Kart 20 Years (11 with Jagoza)

-No coaching changes have happened at UJ over the offseason, although Receivers Coach Terrence Kart may well be thinking retirement after this seasons if UJ can't perform again. No matter how well he's trained his WRs, no one has been ready to listen to him, and as such, the offense has been disappointing, even with a future Pro Hall of Famer as Bryan Cousins at the helm. The past 11 years haven't worked out too well, time to end a great career? Hopefully he can pull off one last win over FSU! OB Coach Dieter Erdner may well take the OC position, should Schnee take the Assistant Coach position following Marchild's widely speculated axing.

Defense Co-ord: Neil Partridge 3 Years (3 with Jagoza)
Defensive Line Coach: Kerry Tatum 6 Years (2 with Jagoza)
Defensive Backs Coach: Yuri Taylor 8 Years (4 with Jagoza)
Linebackers Coach: Gerald Neverson 13 Years (5 with Jagoza)

-Again, no real changes here, although Neverson might have to get used to cutting some players, as the change from 3-4 to 3-3-5 and even further to possibly being a 3-2-6 defense, known as Dime Defense, will give him far too many rostered Linebackers to justify scholarship positions. No one in the firing line here, although with the switch from 3-4, should see some changes in defensive priorities, a pass based defense being key to stop Utica and UArk from constantly getting their favoured receivers.

Special Teams Co-ord: Thierry Favours 13 Years (2 with Jagoza)
Kicking Coach: Hunter Partridge 15 Years (13 with Jagoza)

-Long term coaches, little respect ever given. Not much really needed to say here, as neither guys contribute too much, but Hunter Partridge will be insistent on good FG kicking this year, we never know when we'll need the points in the end, and also the same with coffin corner punting, a real must to avoid the pesky Firebirds return team from gaining too much ground for Fred Mallard to pound us with.
