36th Baptism Of Fire - Nethertopia & Krytenia Bid

Background & History

Krytenia, let's face it, have hosted practically every football tournament in the NSverse. Most of them more than once. The Nethertopians wanted people with experience to take those first blinking steps into the blinding sunlight of hosting. And thus, was the unholy union born.

Format

In setting up, each stadium to be used will be named and described with its capacity, home team(s) and history, along with any notable events that have taken place there. Krytenian and Nethertopian referees will be put forward for each match, each with their own take on how football is to be played within the available rules. All possible help and advice will be available to each competitor via Telegram or other standard method of communication. All participants will receive Telegrams informing them of the Baptism of Fire, directing them to appropriate locations and making advice readily available.

Matches will be scorinated at approximately 20:00-22:00 UTC.

In the first round, the teams will be split into one, two or four groups of equal size, depending on number of entrants, and drawn at random. Four, eight, or sixteen teams will advance to the knockout phase (again depending on numbers).

For the second round, the advancing teams will go forward into seeded pairings based on group placings. Knock-out matches will proceed as normal, with two periods of 15 minutes for Extra Time and, if no winner has emerged at the end, a penalty shoot-out. All the teams who have progressed to the second round will play until each has a final finishing position, giving a Final as well as Third-, Fifth- and possibly Seventh-Place Play-offs.

The NSFS Scorinator, version 2.0.7, source file XL, will be used. This is the same formula that was used for World Cup 40.

Bonuses

The KFA and NeFA will award bonuses based on the following criteria:

Entertainment, Realism, Creativity, Humour, Individuality, Variation, Story-lines, Rivalries, Inter-team participation and Use of available information.

In addition, there will be Double-Bonus Matchdays, in which a team's participation will count double for that Matchday, a scheme used by Krytenia in BoF32.

Conclusion

The Krytenian/Nethertopian bid for the BoF is the perfect blend of old and new, wisdom and enthusiasm. Let's make the Class Of Forty-Nine one to remember.

For those of us who came into NS Sports after BoF32, can you explain exactly how the double-bonus matchdays will work? Will the rp for the matchday be doubled for the scorination before returning to "normal" for following scorinations or something else?

The RP bonus will be double for named matchdays only.

Why are you even holding double RP-bonus MD's.... seems like if they weren't going to be active, the double-days wouldn't prompt them to.

They've been used before (most notably in BoF27) and have been seen to work. It's a little incentive for those just starting on the long RP trail.

Like to remind the hosts that Convolutednationname signed up for the BoF BEFORE tocrowkia did, and as such should be listed before them in the signups.

Not disputing that, just saying that a team that signed up before you did is left off the BoF list...
