This isn't the first time this has happened - though it's not so long ago that they were contesting a third place playoff after coming very close to contesting the actual WC final, so it's a bit of a humbling experience.

It presents me with a bit of an IC quandry, though. Don't worry, I'm not about to risk a repeat of Spaamgate, but IC'ly, the monks wouldn't want to beat the Empire under present circumstances, and if there was a mechanism for being able to forfeit without damaging the integrity of the competition, they would do so.

Since no such OOC mechanism exists, and since it would damage the integrity of the competition, no such forfeit will take place, nor will I argue that such a mechanism be introduced given how unusual the situation is. I merely note it presents me with a minor dilemma.

If the upset happens, I'll just have to find a way to RP it.

I cannot read regular RL news sources any more. In the last couple of days I've seen "Gerrard Warns of Italy Threat" and "Milner Wary of Balotelli Threat" but can only think back to that huge headline "Vikaus Warns of Vilita Threat".

I feel the same way, and have been notcing the 'X wary/warns of Y threat' headlines for years. It seems to be a stock line for mindless hacks, which makes me wonder why Jeremy Jaffacake has never used it outside of Audioslavia vs Vilita encounters.

Feels good to be ranked! 149 out of 313 (4.29) is a pleasant surprise for me, though I suppose I could have done the math myself. I'm very happy with a 4-3-7 record with upset wins against Monastery-on-the-Rock, Cult of Ashley Greene, two draws vs Unibot and one awesome 0-0 tie vs Bostopia. I swept the other unranked team Corderock, though they did CTE; still, that was the foundational goal going in to WC60 for me. I was only swept by Milchama and Turori, also a pleasant surprise.

It used to happen before I qualified... The high ranked nation would get to qualifications with just a single RP of (what I would call) mediocre quality.

If you constantly RP and never get in, why not try the opposite and see how it works?

Sadly in my case, me failing at qualification is almost fully likely every time, and is seemingly independent of whether I RP a lot or barely at all.

At least I can go and fail in the CoH.
