I'm excited for it. I'll be rolling out new kits and continuing the Corvidae RP I started in the world cup (and that was a continuation of an earlier RP too). In fact, now I think of it, I started this RP line right after the last DBC.

Signups will open whenever somebody bids for the next BoF, somebody bids for the next World Cup or PIS decides to open them, whichever comes first. I have no idea when that will be either.

I don't understand why BoF bidders seem to always feel the need to wait until there's a World Cup bid. Legalese and Kinitaria posted their bid for the BoF that they hosted 13 days before the first bid was posted for that World Cup!

And I'm through to the Final Group Stages of the DBC 32. Woop. Though I don't really know why I managed to get through with so many wins. (all three wins in the group! Does this mean anything? Probably not)

About the nation building, I used to go crazy! I created a city-state, created a subway system (at its peak had 14 lines and around 300 stations), a parliament, and football league. I then extended from there and that was where Tumbra was born, along with the territories of Lackland, Sofan and Artumo.

I might have some shite luck with penalties though, my nation is based on England and you only have to look at their penalty record to...yea...four losses in four...

There's hope yet. Nephara's quite like a more old-school/stereotypical England, and we've only lost once on penalties. Mind, that was 3-0 on home turf against our fiercest rivals...

I should point out I won the last DBC (as Furellum) from the qualifying stage and got through both quarterfinals and semis on penalties. So yeah, anything is possible.

The previous plan of "anybody placing a bid automatically triggering the signup process" still stands, but in case of no bids - as in the last cup - I will give it a week or so before opening signups anyway.

Signups are OPEN for WC 70.

WCC and EWCC lists in the Presidential Announcements thread should be updated correctly, but just take a look and make sure I've listed you correctly according to the criteria, including any puppets etc. Though, note that puppets who wouldn't be otherwise eligible for WCC entry on their own merit are deliberately not included in the list. So if you've only entered/rostered with your puppet once, that's why it's not there.

Potential hosts, get creating those bids! (Please.)

EDIT: And, speaking as Polar Islandstates and on the behalf of Apox for just a second, thanks for voting us in as your presidential team for this three cup cycle.

In a purely personal (non-moderator) capacity, I'd like to make a gentle plea that I'm sure will be roundly ignored.

Please don't enter a puppet into the NSWC just because you can, or just because you have the right to.

Please only consider entering a puppet if you're going to actually use it.

I don't mean you need to give both nations equal RP weight for the entirety of the cup - I know how much work that can be better than most - but at least give the rest of the community something to work with. Please try not to enter a puppet and then do nothing more than post a roster (if that).*

Given the number of people attempting to sign up these days, we could do with fewer inactive puppets that just clog up the system to no particular benefit to anyone - including the puppetmaster.

*I happily recognise exceptions for puppets who have been active previously and will be active again, but go through a period of temporary inactivity due to RL pressures.
