In the next match you play, prepare your RP so Val Kylx does not score.

I understand this might seem like a Saw-Esque game to you, but I believe you can do it.

Kylx will just have to score. He's a goal machine. If I score, he scores. (With the exception of my 1-0 win over Deep Fried Pickles in the last World Cup).

On second thought, I'll try and do it. I'll probably try to RP that Kylx picked up an injury in training, like a hamstring injury. It wouldn't keep him out for more than one game, but it would do so for one. Harry "Komodo" Young would take his place. It'll be mega-difficult, but I'll try. Kylx not scoring, never mind not playing, is unthinkable.

You're joking right? It honestly cannot be that hard to not include a fictional player in a fictional football game for your fictional team in a fictional competition. He's just words.

I know it may sound ridiculous, but it can prepare you for a distant future when Val Kylx has to retire. It can also help you write a creative RP.

do you know that what you are doing is actually bad for Kylx's career? He will be forever known as an early striker who bows out halfway through. Your country will be known as one anyone can beat once they weather the storm. What makes players great? Not that they score in the opening minutes of every game. That they score when it matters. Or plays defense remarkably. Or lets other players shine because of them.
If you truly want Kylx and Slembana to be great, you might want to change your approach to roleplaying him, unless you want him to be who he is now.

That's true, this is freeform RP, there's no inherently wrong way to RP and we can't make you change your style.

However, sometimes a change of style can be a good thing. Ever thought of doing a character RP? I mean, you could easily do one with Van Kylx, that way the goals could be worked in but not make the game recap the centre of the RP.

I dunno, I don't even know who's scored my goals for a few years now because it's been irrelevant, but I'm glad I change an aspect of my RPs all the time.

A reminder that the World Cup finals draw, followed by the Cup of Harmony draw, will start in approximately one hour. Much like the qualifying draw, it will be held live and In Character on IRC (Internet Relay Chat), in a special channel, #worldcupdraw, on the Esper server.

Everyone is invited and we hope to make it fun and dynamic. It would be best if everyone used the name of their delegate as their nickname (who can be the FA President, the king, the manager, the star footballer, anything really), along with their nation's three-letter abbreviation so everyone can recognise each other easily, in the format FirstName_LastName|TLA. If your nation has never used a TLA, make up a sensible one on the spot; the hosts will be ASG and CAR. Regular forum ettiquette is expected to be followed in the channel, and enforced if necessary by the hosts.

If you have never used IRC before and would like to attend, you have only to follow these simple instructions:
1. Open or download an IRC client; Mibbit is browser-based and what I use.
2. Select the "Esper" server from the drop-down menu.
3. Type in your chosen nickname in the appropriate box, and #worldcupdraw in the channel box.
4. Click Connect. The channel's tab will open within and you'll be all set!

Basically, my wizened old manager knew that once they'd weathered the Kylx storm, they'd go onto win the game easily. He doesn't score beyond the first five minutes, and Slembana are basically RPed as a one-man-team, so once we'd held out to only concede once in those five minutes, it was easy.
