A Little Pin Note : Continuing Off from the Mini-championships series from the recent Futsal and Basketball tournaments,Mapletish will be hosting a Rugby Union mini championships for interested nations to pin their skills off in a small yet relaxing platform for them.

Sparking ideas in my head for long to start off a series of small tournaments to hand out Rping opportunities and to add to hosting tournaments under my belt,putting off to a small and manageable 8 teams as usual.

The tournament will be scorinated from the latest edition of the xkorante,under the Rugby Union section.Sparking off this charge,the format of the tournament is also revealed ,

To help lessen my own stress and at the same time making it a fast and easy tournament,the tournament will be held in this way :

• A simple 2 groups of 4 format
• Top 2 teams advance to the Semi-Finals.
• With the winner of the Semi-Finals going into the finals.
• The losers will go into the 3rd place-playoff to determine the 3rd and 4th.

EMDRUC #1

In an effort to get more Ko-orenites active in community and association life, the government has set up many programs involving sports. One of these is the NFP, the Non-Football Program, to get more sports besides just football popular in the country. This has worked for Basketball, Baseball, Gridiron, Ice Hockey and other sports, and the next stop is Rugby. To this end, the government has enrolled the top team of the nation in the El Mini De Rugby Union Campeonatos. The tempo is high, the stakes are high, but it is all positive energy that gets the team going. Ko-oren has been drawn into a group with Filopines, Maron and Mapletish B – Mapletish A is in the other group. Along with Mapletish A are Free South Califas, Falconear and Darmen. All in all, these are all teams that Ko-oren has played often in many different sports and this too will only come in great in the international profile of Ko-oren. The tournament will consist of three match days in the group, then semi finals and finals (third place and first place). Ko-oren will play its matches in the El Mapletia Memorial Rugby Stadia, which holds 35,600 people and will be used for one of the semi-finals and the third place playoff later in the tournament.

Rugby begins with a win!

Many government officials must be complementing themselves now! Their policy could not get any better execution than that Ko-oren would actually start winning matches at the EMDRUC! Ko-oren beat Maron 24-8 and seized the lead in Group B. Mapletish B beat Filopines 22-10 in the other match, giving Ko-oren the most points difference. In Group A, Mapletish A beat Free South Califas 7-6 in a low scoring but very entertaining and close match, where none of the teams would let the other team do anything. Darmen won 14-5 against Falconear.

Ko-oren beat Maron in a match that, even though this was only the first Ko-oren match ever in Rugby, will probably be in the records as best Ko-orenite Rugby match ever. The difference is amazingly large, many points, not much conceded. The Ko-orenite 15 just marched across the field like the owned all of it, not just one part. The team opened with a try just in the match, of which the conversion was missed. Still five points, and some teams in the tournament got barely over that. Soon, Ko-oren found out that drop goals were also a great way of getting points, scoring three of them right after: 11-0. After 32 minutes, Maron got their first points with a try, and also missing the conversion: 11-5. Ko-oren ended the half with another try, yet this time they did score the conversion: 19-5.

The second half started a little bit later than it was supposed to due to the bad weather, and the field had to be prepped before the teams came back on. The entire second half was completely rained. Maron got the better of Ko-oren in the sudden rainfall, scoring a drop goal: 19-8. It took a long while before any of the teams scored, but Ko-oren broke the deadlock with a last try: 24-8. The conversion was once again missed, finishing the match at 24-8.

Ko-oren’s master policymakers might have been lucky until so far, now it is proven that they do know what they are doing – at least for the Rugby program. Ko-oren have gotten their second win and now have to face Mapletish B in a direct match to decide the group’s winner. At least Ko-oren has secured a place with the final 4. Ko-oren – Filopines 17-11.

Filopines opened with a try, giving them an early 0-5 lead. Ko-oren could only watch as they also scored a drop goal: 0-8. This was already in the first part of the first half, and Ko-oren managed to do something back just before half time: 3-8. A drop goal fell out of the sky, that was how powerless the team was in the first half.

In the second half, the Greenblues were completely different. Though Filopines were still fighting for their last chances, Ko-oren overtook them quickly with a try and a conversion: 10-8. Filopines did score another drop goal, 10-11, but in the dying minutes of the match, Ko-oren got another try and conversion, finishing 17-11.

The other match in the group was Maron – Mapletish B, which ended 6-19. In Group A, Darmen beat Mapletish A 6-10, and Falconear secured a small victory over FSC. While the qualifiers are already clear after 2 matches in Group B, anything can happen in Group A: Darmen has the best chances, and FSC the least, but time will tell.
