Postby The Babbage Islands » Sat May 05, 2012 9:10 am

With World Cup 60 coming to The Babbage Islands and the national team's automatic qualification for the tournament, manager Manning Pelham and captain Nancy Svoboda have proposed a Bumblebees world tour with a core of veterans and a large number of younger talents. The idea is to give a new generation of internationals valuable experience before final selection for the 60th World Cup.

Schedule

RP as much or as little as you care to in this thread.

For the Bumblebees World Tour, the following 26 players will be called up. Seven core players are veterans of the World Cup 59 final, 18 more are under age 23 and represent all 14 FĈB clubs. The 26th player, Ava Gillespie, is being evaluated after her recovery from cancer surgery.

In this list, each section is ranked top-to-bottom.

The Vast Emptiness of Space would like to put its Extraterristrial Dome of Sport forward as a potential venue for the Bublebees "World Tour" at the discretion of the Babbage Islands FA if they would like the additional In-Character angle of playing at such a unique location against our squad.

GK: The Keeper of the Milky Way
D: The Defender of Orion's Belt
D: The Defender of Outpost Beta
D: The Defender of Mars
D: The Defender of Alpha Centauri

M: The Protector of Polaris
M: The Guardian of Ursa Minor
M: The Transporter of Pluto
M: The Big Bang of Boötes

F: The Explosion of the Pinwheel Galaxy
F: Saturnia

The Academy of Space is home to a fully enclosed, gravity containing event facility known as the "Extraterrestrial Dome of Sport". The dome is constructed of clear plasticized glass allowing a clear view of the stars and planets above. The dome will rotate with respect to its surroundings during matches for enhanced viewing, though any nearby stars (Stars within 2 or fewer Astronomical Units) will remain on the backside of the playing field to prevent glaring and temperature control.

Some temporary seating has yet to be installed, but the dome currently has 25,000 permanent seats, with a further 43,000 temporary seating available. The dome is expandable up to over 200,000 seats but there are no plans of this type at the time. The official, Vast Emptiness of Space designed promotional shot of the new stadium is enclosed in the press pack.

The dome provides an interesting challenge for the players from visiting nations as the Academy is non terrestrial (Of course, a playing field and gravity are provided, but are isolated to the dome of play itself. The upper dome is clear allowing a view of the solar system). While the team representing Space will surely be the underdog during away matches, it is quietly hoped that they will be able to gain more of a home field advantage than other teams might usually have due to this subtle location difference, and end the season with a respectable record.

It will be our turn to visit you to contest for the Golden Honeycomb, hrright? So, maybeso you could conclude the tour with a 'home' game for this?

(OOC: One or another of the later dates anyway, please, because I need time to sort out a roster...)

The Eagles would love an opportunity to face the World Cup runners-up. The game would be hosted at Luke Thomas I Stadium in Montfort, with a capacity of 52,500 people. The preferred date would be the 19th of May. A roster will be released at a later date.
This nation has now been reformed as the Licentian Isles. Please direct anything intended for me to that nation.

ASMV World Cup 60 Roster and Information

You can do anything you like short of killing off players

Squad Name: Sea Dragons

Home Pitch: Stadii se Draggonnii Arcea (Capacity - 200,000)
Image

Colors: Deep Sky Blue & Yellow
Image

Style: Tidal Surge 3-2-2-1-2
(-2 defensive)

*

About the Tidal Surge
The Tidal Surge formation is a hybrid style that makes use of athleticism in key “flex” positions that allow the formation to ebb and flow between styles to take advantage of personnel match-ups and break opportunities. At any point in the match the Tidal Surge can more remind viewers and opponents of a 5-3-3 (most often) or a 3 4-3 (least often) but can usually be found flexing in between those extremes.
Three key positions make this formation work. The offensive midfielder with which everyone is familiar and the two hybrid positions called “UP” backs. These two positions are a direct cross between center midfielders and outside backs. These two positions use athletic ability to move up and down the pitch changing the formation to fit the needs of current needs. Thus at any one moment the formation can resemble anything from a 3-4-3 to a 3-5-2 to a 5-3-2 creating, quite nearly, the perfect positions for almost any situation.

Other style notes:
“Smashmouth Footy”. That is how the Sea Dragons play when at their best. They prefer the motto “Hit First, Ask Forgiveness Later” and yet they have become adept enough as to remain just on the safe side of the cards so many other squads get. When you play the Sea Dragons two truths are evident - 1: You had better be ready to play tough and 2: you had better be ready for rough play.

Coaching Staff

Manager: Kymykera Wu’eres Age:49
A defensive specialist in her playing days and as an assistant coach, Kymy now steps into the spotlight as Manager of the Sea Dragons. The shoes left by Mace as he says goodbye are rather huge but if anyone can fill them it is Kymy. She is loved by players and fans alike and yet is as unforgiving in training and game management as her predecessor.

Offensive Asst: Seyai At’roluii Age:27
As brilliant a run as the Sea Dragons had during World Cup 59, offensive ability was at the forefront very little. In fact, the squad averaged less than a goal per match in an unbeaten qualification. The scoring did pick up in the Cup proper but remained inconsistent. If this area does not improve, Seyaii could find herself coaching only U19s once more.

Midfield Asst: Nonari Em'ran'oz Age:45
Nonari was the coaching staff find that the Sea Dragons had been searching for. Finally the center of the pitch was not a liability in WC 58 and was brilliant in WC 59. Now it is key that the improvements continue as the Sea Dragons attempt to copy their third place showing.

Defenders Asst: Laia Un’jeru’betcii Age:37
Lie Kymy before her, Laia makes the jump from world class player to fledgling coach. Her fire and tenacity on the pitch will hopefully translate to a continued on the pitch success for her defense. Also listed as a resrve, Laia could find herself playing before this run is over if injuries occur or new talent does not develop quickly.

Goalkeeper Asst Koyinii Os'ina Age:43
Few position coaches are as lucky as Koyinii as Sanlioch as emerged as an All-World keeper and Ban’engo could start for more than three-quarters of the nations present if they were that lucky. Fortunately they are not.

Forwards

RS 12 Jaqinze Irin’arbor F 19 5’5 134
Utica United (Osarius)
Jonasei is now retired as the greatest goal scoring threat in ASMV history. The pressure is high on this former U19 standout to perform well. On paper she stacks up very well. On the pitch - well that remains to be seen.

LS 17 Fekelii Nab’ibakii F 30 5’9 135
Errion Vega FK
Overshadowed by Ariq’Alara, Fekelii now has no choice but to step up and be the leader on the attack. She has tended to disappear in matches as she bogs herself down by thinking too much. It is time for her to let loose and score or she will find herself headed home quickly.

F 52 Banjuru Shr‘tuu M 21 5’11 171
Shalerix FK
The second leading scorer of the VAFK last season, Banjuru is taing advantage of new rules that allow league players to also play for the national side. Should either starter falter, he will be more than ready to have their spot.

Midfielders

OM 10 Kylek Ale'ack M 32 6’1 185
TFC Anymore (Civil Citizenry)
Kylek is a distributor from the offensive midfield who will take a shot if given proper opportunity. Now with experience, Kylek is set to lead the charge forward with his brilliant crosses. If he can improve his on-ball skills in transition he will become a very dangerous player in his own right.

RM 11 .Bareqii Ulu’namo F 18 5’5 120
Carrington FK
Brought up to join the national side following the massive success in the AOCAF, Bareqii is a magician when on ball. Cat-quick and with speed to spare she should add some excitement to the middle of the pitch. Do not worry over her young age, she competed well against the best AO had to offer as well as the best (Save Aguazul and TBI) the world had to offer.

LM 29 Akaok Kapekeoa M 33 6’5 210
Et’ai Zirakul
A native Zirakulii, it has taken more than ten years for Akaok to be accepted by the general Vegai public. Now, however, fans cheer when the grass-skirt-clad, body paintrd warrior takes the pitch. Go ahead and let his tribal look fool you. Akaok relishes the chance to prove himself against those who deem themselves to be superior players.

M 39 Turlin Ironbeard M 138 4’5 155
Stonengarten Sarud
Turlin excels at using his small stature to lose himself among the bigger players and come out cleanly with the ball. Kylek and the strikers should benefit from his ability to play the ball forward with pinpoint precision.

Up-Backs

RUB 13 Osurun Ayami M 21 6’5 175
Darmen City FC (Darmen)
A native of the newly acquired territories of Mara-kai, Osurun is a perfect blend of size and speed for the up-back position. Deceptively fast, the youngster looks awkward at times but has a knack for being in the right place. He will be pushed hard by reserve Xia Cuolai, another Mara-Kaii player with more experience but without his natural skill.

LUB 14 Nelijibii Sam'roth'oq F 28 6’0 150
FK Kelsey
The best true up-back the Sea Dragons have fielded since Kymykera, Nelijibii has the potential to become the best player on the pitch. she dictates the pace of not only the opposition’s attack but her own side’s pace while in transition.

UB 69 Xia Cuolai F 224 5’6 135
Loire-Mourenx
Xia is a solid, if unspectacular, player who knows her limits and excels by staying within them. She feels slighted that Osurun was chosen to join the starting eleven rather than her and will make the best of any chance she gets to prove the staff wrong.

Backs

RB 50 Ombar Stonewall M 161 4’10 140
Stonengarten UH
A hard hitting, hard rocking, Dwarf who loves to show bigger players just how tough they are not, Ombar excels at punishing those who challenge him directly (within the rules of the game, of course). Has taken a cue from Akaok and now wears traditional Dwarven War Facepaint for every match.

CB 27 Karinzui Sa’astre F 17 5’8 145
Utica United (Osarius)
Another of the U19 girls side, Kari should be ready to fill the void left by Laia. She plays with a reckless abandon that leaves opposing attackers running for their lives. If she can learn when to hit, a place where Laia excelled, she will be a star in nno time at all.

LB 54 Ozyxomidruin Lamas’Porii M 28 5’10 156
Charleston Athletic (Osarius)
Another thug on the back line, Ozyx tends to be the stabilizer for the back three - a role he has had to grow into. Now comfortable with calling the assignments of the defense he can focus more on the punishment he loves to dish out.

B 97 Sammala Usikoec M 19 6’4 230
Another grass-skirt clad Ziraulii who looks to make a name for himself, Samm is a very physical back.

Keepers

K 99 Sanlioch Bez’Al M 28 6’3 242
Errion Vega FK
This pudgy, young player has come a long way from the pudgy, unwashed kid who challenged Mace to give him a chance. He has also become a world-class keeper that allows very few goals at all.

K 84 Eathohatu Ban'engo M 26 6’5 205
Vegai 4th Quad
A very capable reserve in his own right, most sides wish there starter were this solid.

I'll take the May 14th date (If you decide not to have a jokey RP that's cool, just say so)

If you happen to have room for one more, we'd love to have Manning Pelham back home for a hometown reunion.

CC, if you can be flexible I'll either use you to fill a hole from someone backing out or add a date at the end. (Cross-posted)

Bumblebees World Tour Squad

Postby Zenega » Sat May 05, 2012 4:58 pm

This is Zenega confirming with great national excitement & pride that we will host The Bumblebees during their tour - any date will be fine. Thanks for holding the place, TBI.

Zenega
National Squad

The Zenega National Team is a mix of players playing in the Zenegalese national league, of which Zaire-74 and Galoya-Galere are the dominant forces and best represented in this team, and players plying their trade abroad. The squad is very much in transition with several of the World Cuppet winning squad retiring from international football or the game altogether, most notably keeper and captain Dámaso Abu who has taken up the manager's post at his old team Galyoa-Galere. Lamine Diouf steps up as number one, although he has no experience except as a bench-warmer at the last two World Cuppets. Several young starlets are included for the valuable experience they will get of international football, including the strike pairing of Bonnaya and Onouha Zulu, now at Arçon in Saugeais where they are undoubtedly receiving a valuable education. Onyemere Chinwema has been awarded captaincy in Abu's stead, following his impressive showing at the Cuppet.

Venue: Parque Heusden (National Stadium), Prinsenstraat, Cité Ouakam. Capacity: 33,705

Zenega, officially the Wightling Commonwealth of Zenega (République du Zénéga), is a country south of the Zénéga River in Gwaith. It owes its name to the river that borders it to the east and north. Zenega is externally bounded by the Wight Ocean to the west, Barbary Salé to the north, Kurufa to the east, and Gao to the south. It covers a land area of almost 197,000 square kilometres, and has an estimated population of about 14 million. The climate is tropical with two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season.

Ouakam, the capital city of Zenega, is located at the westernmost tip of the country on the Cap-Cayor peninsula. About 2500 kilometres to the west, on the far side of the Wight Ocean, lies long-time ally Tamarindia. During the 17th and 18th centuries, numerous trading posts, belonging to various colonial empires, were established along the coast. The town of St. Louis became the capital of French West Altafrique (Altafrique Occidentale Française, or AOF) before it was moved to Ouakam in 1902. Ouakam later became its capital in 1960 at the time of independence from France.

Today Zenega is part of the Wightling Commonwealth, after previously being a member of the internationalist syndicate alliance chaired by Doctor James Sunshine of Tamarindia. When Tamarindia fell under the dominion of Wight, Zenega by default became part of the new commonwealth. The Zenegalese dislike the use of the term 'puppet', since each nation in the Commonwealth is notionally autonomous. The incumbent head of state in Zenega is Prime Minister Nnamdi Oluchi, who succeeded Comrade-General Theroux Chukwumoge when Wight imposed the commonwealth on the nation.

ZENEGA

Country Code: ZEN
Team Nickname: The Balafons
Style Modifier: +2.333r

Manager: Ngozi Mito Sauvé
Captain: Onyemere Chinwema
Vice Captain: Jean Beauchemin

Artist: Jean Beauchemin
Dynamo: Okeke Yobanna
Stormtrooper: Osinachi
Comedian: Mustapha Touré

Most likely to get...

Tap-In: Babacar Sylla
Scorcher: Jesse Abosi
Red Card: Onyemere Chinwema
Stretcher: Eric Mumuni

Expect the Balafons to play an optimistic attacking formation, to exploit mercilessly the oft-held stereotype of naïve altafriquan enthusiasm – this will be most evident in giving away a large number of cynical fouls and hoping not to get booked, pleading naïve altafriquan enthusiastic innocence. Commentators will be guilty of exclaiming “they do love their football in Zenega, but,” - and there is always a 'but' after the patronising opening, and then a chuckle, and then - “they're not so keen on defending, are they Ron?” But the Balafons will defend quite happily, and kick teams all over the park when not in possession, with a smile on their face. Attacking when in possession, strong in the tackle, likely to accumulate yellows and reds, happy – they really do like their football, Ron – but no mugs. Also not very good, never likely to compete in a world cup.”

The squad
Starters in bold

Lamin Diouf, GK, age 24, plays for Kaba Garage. Graduate of the Tamarindia National Academy. In the World Cuppet 2 winning squad.
Gabriel Ackon, GK, 27, Galoya-Galere. A first call-up for the talented shot-stopper.
Oscar Igwebuike, GK, 18, Cité Castor. Graduate of Langemark-Poelkapelle Academy, a rising star.

Awate Gabriel, DL, 23, Kino (in ABK). 9 caps and a World Cuppet 2 winner.
Julian Yahaya, DL, 29, Kurufana. A belated first call-up for the fullback.
Danys Tewani, DR, 22, Kaba Garage. 4 caps and a World Cuppet 2 winner. Graduate of the Tamarindia NA, previously played for Sparta Misión (TAM).
Víctor Ojeda, DR, 22, Sogobe Embankment. Another graduate of the Tamarindia NA, this is his first call-up to the national team.
Onyemere Chinwema, D RLC, 29, Dover City (in TBI). The defensive stalwart recently earned a transfer to the big time, as well as the captain's armband. 13 caps.
Mustapha Touré, DC, 24, Chase Citiz (in CvC). The future captain, and World Cuppet winner. 13 caps, 1 goal.
Osinachi, DC, 21, Kurufana. Already has 2 caps and a World Cuppet winners medal. Considered Chinwema's natural successor.

Amadi Nwebube, ML, 29, UMFK (in TBI). Playing at the top level after winning World Cuppet. 13 caps, 1 goal.
Ojiofor Yobachi, M LC, 19, ZFF Yelumba. Has 2 caps from the World Cuppet and apprenticed to Nwebube as the next National team left winger.
Eric Mumuni AM RLC, 27, Galoya-Galere. Has broken into the first team with the retirement of Beltane Tougas, and expected to start on the right.
Felix Mohammed, AMR, 25, Ouakam Fortress. Another debutant for the right midfield, something of a surprise call up.
Jean Beauchemin, AMC, 26, Kino (in ABK). 9 caps and one goal, Beauchemin impressed in the World Cuppet and gets the vice-captaincy as reward.
Okeke Yobanna, AMC FC, 26. 6 caps & 2 goals, missed the last Cuppet, has had his fair share of personal issues, now rebuilding his once-promising career.
Chieloka Chioke, MC, 23, La Pinatra Crusaders (in Falconfar). 4 caps. A player with a big future, surprised many by moving to Falconfar.
Mobi Chiabutu, AMC, 20, Galoya-Galere. Already a star, the naturalised Starblaydi came through the Tamarindian NA and Académie Altafrique.
Orpintón, AM RLC, 21, Kaba Garage. Yet another product of the Tamarindian NA, and well established in the Zénégalese league.

Babacar Sylla, ST, 24, Kaba Garage. 13 caps/9 goals - current top scorer for the fledgling national team. World Cuppet winner, LP graduate, played for Estudiantes (TAM).
Jesse Abosi, ST, 23, 1883 Dákura Fútsal (in Kukalaya). 9 caps/6 goals. Perfect partner to Sylla, graduated with him at LP, went on to Seleccione Orozco (TAM).
Bonnaya, ST, 20, Arçon (in Saugeais). A new call-up, the very highly rated Académie Altafrique graduate has a very good club partnership with Zulu.
Onuoha Zulu, ST, Arçon (in Saugeais). Also new to the first team. With Bonnaya, a very promising forward for Zénégal's future.

Note that home-based players are always keen to move abroad where the income is greater, the money is better, and the salaries are higher. Offers via TG.
