Rugby League World Cup 5 - RP, Scores, Squads thread

Postby Sorthern Northland » Mon Sep 21, 2009 5:47 pm

Sorthern Rugby League are pleased to welcome a record twenty-four nations to Sorthern Northland for the fifth edition of the Rugby League World Cup. This thread is for in character posts, for out of character posts please use the OOC Rugby discussion thread. Matchday one will be scorinated on Saturday evening, matchday two on Monday evening and so on between 2000 and 2200 BST (8pm-10pm). Two points will be awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss during the group stage.

As mentioned above matchday one will be on Saturday evening, if people wish to have friendlies I can scorinate them on Friday evening. If you want friendlies please arrange them via either telegram, irc, or the ooc thread.

If teams are tied on points ('points' hereafter meaning points scored in a game (ie, four for try) as opposed to points awarded for the result of the game) the tiebreakers will be as follows: i) points difference; ii) total points for; iii) number of wins; iv) head-to-head result; v) if still unable to be separated and qualification is at stake a coin toss shall be used. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, the tournament from the quarter-finals onwards will be single elimination.

No squad.

Again, Peisandros has been unable to name a playing roster for the Rugby League WC. Due to increasing pressure from the government to ban all other forms of rugby, except union, this team was snuck out of the country bit by bit under the guise of table-tennis competitors. However the Peisandros Association of Playing Outside Games Inside, On A Smaller Scale realised what was happening and alerted authorities, but they were too late. For fear that this little publication could get in to the wrong hands, we will be unable to discuss player names. However, here are a few things which may be helpful.

#7 will be the captain.
#8 is vice-captain.
#3 will be taking the kicks.
#17 is a great utility, able to slot in anywhere in backline.
Watch out for #10. The big forward racks up a fair few metres a game.

The MacMurdo Half-Sun
It's Rugby Time

Long has the nation waited for the one thing that brings them together more than football. That is the de facto national sport of Rugby League. The team has waited and watched. For the past weak the one thing the team did was study game film. Watching the strengths and weakness. Memorizing the exact patterns of their group rivals.

Notes on the group:
Somewhereistonia - Second place last year, third seed nowadays.... will be ome competition
Newmanistan - 4th place, however once their out its all about good times w/ fans
Palmouth - PROTECT THE COACH
Achtervolging - not too sure, see an average team in this one
Unreal229 - they are Unreal to the 229th power
Antarctistan - thats us!!

Tired of film, the team will tomorrow move to the field, to further prepare themselves. Also notable is that as of yet the manager has not been announced, but that announce ment is expected to come soon. What will happen in this is as of yet a blank page. One that Antarctistan hopes will be their page.

The pitch is waiting. Now lets play some RUGBY!

Rugby time, on the isles
by Ju-San

What the fuck, there was a fourth one of these that The Yorozuya wasn't in. Now what fuck-brained ass-tard decided to not put us in. Sure some could say that we were part of that Lurikastan place, but that doesn't cut it. It's just plain idiotic that we didn't enter. Nothing, makes me more pissed than The Yorozuya in all it's glory didn't enter.

We did enter this cup though so I guess that's equivalent to scoring the plain looking chick from the three, while your best mate ends up fucking the hotter two three ways from nowhere, then finding out that the chick you did has AIDS. Sure we will return to the rugby pitch in all our glory, but our form will suffer. Not to mention our high rank held in the sport. What I'm getting at is that The Yorozuya is awesome, and everybody will lose to us. Cause if they don't I'll ass rape them till they bleed out of their non-existent dick.

Either way, we will play some Philiponoa place. From what I hear, fat chicks with beards. AKA my dick will be weeping. Don't worry though, I'll bring my hoars and we'll fuck. As for the rugby. Annihilation. That's what we'll fucking do to them. Those momma's 'lil pussy itch helpers will tremble at our pure might. Does it even matter that we don't have a roster yet, nope. We are awesome and forever will be. So if your hot and disease free get down suck my stick and watch the best fucking rugby on the planet. Yorozuya Rugby.

(Ju-San once shot a man then he proceeded to rape his ear, and put it on a website, so the man's kids could see it)

Not much changes in West Zirconia - especially not the national Rugby League squad, which is unchanged from the last time round.

The first XIII will be as follows:

Backs:

1 Nick Simpson (Bradley Bears)
2 Mark Thompson (Boston Bulldogs)
3 Paul Frost (Moorcroft Reds)
4 Andy Green (Mort Park Meerkats)
5 Gareth Murray (Moorcroft Reds)
6 Jon Howell (St. Martin Wasps)
7 Adam Forbes (Banks Badgers)

Forwards:

8 David Bond (Banks Badgers)
9 Steve Laws (Bradley Bears)
10 Joe Phillips (Boston Bulldogs)
11 Chris Ireland (Redwood Eagles)
12 John Booth (Sephton Sharks)
13 Vinnie Stone (St. Martin Wasps)

The rest of the squad are:

Backs:

14 Colin Hunter (Bradley Bears)
15 Alan Watts (Mort Park Meerkats)
16 Stuart Burke (Moorcroft Reds)
17 Frank Harper (Redwood Eagles)
18 Simon Payne (Sephton Sharks)

Forwards:

19 Lee Rutherford (Boston Bulldogs)
20 Darren Ryan (Redwood Eagles)
21 Jeff Hutchings (St. Martin Wasps)
22 Alan Wright (Mort Park Meerkats)
23 Joe Richardson (Sephton Sharks)

As for what you can do to them, anything as long as it's physically possible (however unlikely!) - the funnier the better.

The Fujian Chronicle
Yorozuyan Rosters Announced
by Ju-San

Earlier today the asshole bureaucrats finally got around to announcing our glorious roster. I must say that I am impressed by the amount of skill we have. There is no doubt that we are going to totally ass-rape our group, evade the cops and end up winning our group. Lovisa (more like Peace Loving Country thats been Nuked) even though they're 'ranked-higher' rugby is a war sport, not a Lov sport. Also since when was Lovisa ever successful got out of their group twice, only to fall early. The other two times they came in last, not even winning a single point. Its really a competition for second.

Needless to say our glorious roster.

It's a balmy midsummers evening in Beningrad. For the past couple of hours a total of sixty-thousand spectators have sat inside the Stadium of the Revolutionary Struggle in Beningrad, many of them by this point slightly bemused. For the past two hours have contained a number of performances which supposedly show off Sorthern Northland's culture. Most of the things that the performances have pertained to however seem just as foreign to the many Sortherners in the stadium as they do to the twenty or so thousand foreigners in the stadium. How many Sortherners for example on their morning commute go onto the top deck of an open top bus and kick a rugby ball off it? Only the odd slightly “quirky” one here and there. And how many people walk down the streets of Beningrad performing a Sean-nós dance? Certainly for the majority of Beningrad residents inside the stadium it'll have been a while since they've seen such a sight. Now though, those performances are over, and a man dressed rather smartly is approaching a rather cheap looking rostrum that appears to have been plonked in the centre-circle of the stadium's pitch. According to the running order printed in the programme for the opening ceremony he is Gearóid Matthews, chairman of the Sorthern Rugby League. As he reaches it he waits for a moment, for as much silence as you can get in a sixty-thousand capacity stadium that's full before speaking.

“Ladies, gentlemen, and other beings whom may be present, first of all I hope you'll join me in thanking the many performers of the opening ceremony for the terrific display they've put on.”

“They, and we are here of course to celebrate the opening of the fifth Rugby League World Cup in the nation where it all started.”

“Hosting the first World Cup was a huge honour for Sorthern Northland, and to be hosting it again, and this time celebrating its fifth edition is another huge honour for us.”

“The previous four editions have seen many things happen, not always for the greater good of out game. We however cannot ignore what has gone wrong in the past, instead we must learn from it and use those lessons to improve the future. That is what we are certainly hoping to do this time around, for the past is key. It should not be dwelled upon, but rather built upon. What happens in the past cannot be changed, what the past influences on the future can though.”

“In just four World Cup's, Rugby League has advanced throughout the multiverse, and that is clear to see in Sorthern Northland. When we hosted the first World Cup only one of the stadiums had its primary use as rugby league. In this World Cup eleven of the twelve stadiums we are using are primarily used for rugby league. In four editions the Rugby League World Cup has come a long way, in the fifth edition we are looking to push it further in the direction of progress.”

“The past has seen controversy, hopefully we are past that era now and for the next couple of weeks we can concentrate on the great rugby that is sure to be played on the pitches of Sorthern Northland. It is with this hope, that I gladly declare the fifth Rugby League World Cup open.”

Matthews steps back from the rostrum and takes the applause of the crowd. In reality though most are applauding more out of politeness than anything else. Matthews realises this and with the pitch almost cleared for play he departs down the tunnel to allow the teams of Sorthern Northland and Tatuape out for their respective anthems, and the kick-off of the opening game of the tournament.

The Fujian Chronicle
Fuckin Phillippanoan assholes trump glorious Yorozuya 8-3
by Ju-San

Jeebus Fuckin Allah, when The Yorozuya played in front of a sell-out crowd at Eastwick Manor they expected to win. After all Yorozuya means god-given right to kick ass at everything because of awesomeness sounds like that's more than good enough to have sent the Phillpanoan team cryin back to their mothers, only to find out that their moms are being boned by the best damn sports reporter out there. Me.

Either way, this ass-raping known as a rugby match began at around 22:00 in some communist hellhole known as Floriana, Sorthern Northland. Which begs the question. What the fuck is sorth. It's not like there's a Sorth direction. Seriously, what kind of pig-on-man sexual came up with Sorth. Was Southern Northland taken when you wanted to become a country. Or was the guy just some ass-tard who wanted to be funny with the word 'sorth' needless to say, the game began bad and ended worse. With our magnificent team of rusty losers conceding a try on the first possession of the game. Make that the first tackle of the game. That's right, its pretty rare in rugby, but Phillippanoa (via Rolf Föro) marched down 100 metres of the field for a try. Where were we? Only 10 metres behind the ball, looking more lost than a 12-year-old-boy trying to fuck his girlfriend. Which also begs the question: What the fuck is that 12 year old doing, his balls haven't dropped yet and his dick is probably still inside him (unless that 12 year old is me in which case the balls have dropped, and the dick is akin to a Sequoia) . Either way, back to rugby, because the try was converted. The rest of the first half was pretty much boring. Nothing happened, well I did bang this hot Sorthern Chick, god was she hot. God, don't think i can go back to those small TYZ chicks. Those boobs, uuuuugh now I see why those crazy martyrs kill them selves. For boobs like those, but those are mine. So that's a big fuck you to them.

As for the second group of 40 minutes that was another prison rape for us.The half began with Phillippanoa dominating us (looks like someone was abused by their dad when they were five). They may not have scored, but the beating shook our boys. Going back to my earlier analogy from minute 56 to 75 the prison raping stopped for a while. Long enough for The Yorozuya to score three field goals (in the 57th, 67th and the 71st minute). Afterwards the brutality returned, and gods chosen team ended up losing 3-6.

However, it wasn't a total loss, at least the bitches I fucked afterward had some tight pussys. Which is one great reason to be at rugby tournaments, as if it's not commonly known lots of guys bring their girls in tow, however during the matches these hot girls have nothing to do (so that's where I swoop in). Can't say it's not fun, cause it is.

Next for our glorious team is a match at Duncarrow in Rothsbere against a Seathen team that lost 22-0 to Lovisa. FUCKING LOVISA. Eitherway, during this match The Yorozuya will look to deliver their first win (or else), and to deliver Seathen's second loss (or else).

Phillippanoa's rugby league team at world cup wins first match versus Yorozuya!

In surprising victory 3 - 6 versus Yorozuya, the Phillippanoan rugby league team scored a converted try by Rolf Föro, while the Yorozuya scored three drop goals in the last part of the game. Supporters across Phillippanoa are going crazy at the result of this first match. This is the first Rugby League World Cup in which Phillippanoa is participating and already things are looking good for them. The first international rugby league match was versus Vashnia, five years ago (Vashnia 2 - 20 Phillippanoa). The manager of the Phillippanoan international team commented that "We hope to make the semi-finals, which means our boys are going to have to really work hard during the cup, we many have won a match but we have not won the cup". The captain was unavailable for comment due to training. The minister of Culture and Sport is impressed with the result and believes that "it could mean we win more matches during the cup"

The MacMurdo Half-Sun
Disappointing loss against Somewhereistonia 31-8

Going into yesterdays game against previous hosts/runners-up Somewhereistonia expectations surely weren't high, but surely 31-8 wasn't on the table. In their first international The CTI Boys' looked worse than the Lurikastani team of players back in RLWC I, and lets not forget that they were a bunch of gridiron players who had no idea there were even two codes of rugby, much less an idea of what the sport was.

Earl6yon in the game it became very apparent that Antarctistan's players were ill prepared for the much superior Somewhereistonian team. Giving up two converted trys early (Skema ran both in). Pushing the score up to 8-0. Then for a little while it looked as if Antarctistan would make up the deficit. From the 13th to the 34th minute, Antarctistan was able to have a few deep possessions, as well as halt the Somewhereistonian offense in it's tracks. This period of dominance was capped off with a 28th minute try from Michael Grimsly, a try which would later be converted. However, once the 34th minute came The Penguins' started to revert back to a slump. Allowing Milosz and Paskolov to score converted trys late in the half. Sending the game to halftime 24-6, a comfortable lead for Somewhereistonia.

The second half began, not with a miraculous comeback by Antarctistan, but more dominance in the form of a converted try (try scored by Skema), and a field goal. (In the 56th and the 67th minutes respectively. While Somewhereistonia had effectively won the game, they maintained their strength, only allowing Antarctistan two fieldgoals to finish out the game.

Today's game went a long way to crushing the ego and morale of the Antarctistani team. While they are a underdog in their group the lights aren't all out yet. It will be tough, but possible. However, a win against Newmanistan will be a crucial piece to the equation. One that will be absolutely necessary to Antarctistani success in their inaugural Rugby League World Cup.

Joy as Peisandros win, The Yorozuya lose.

Peisandros opened their campaign with a delightful display of running rugby league, showing class and superiority in crushing Logria 40-8. It was an exemplary performance and one which spells out this Sandrian team as one which could regain the form of the third RLWC Champion squad.

On the other end of the spectrum was The Yorozuya team. Somehow ranked in the top ten, they came into this competition with a lot of 'hoopla' and expectation, but were sent crashing to earth by a spirited and deserving Phillippanoa team. What followed was a disgusting reaction from Yorozuyan media. In a horrible article released to the world, the author (clearly without any knowledge of rugby league principles, good manners, sportsmanship, or morality in general) let loose on anyone and everyone. However from our point of view if that's the attitude brought to international sport, then thank God they lost and may they continue to do so.

Anyway, to more important matters, Peisandros next opponent is New Texxas, who went down narrowly to Taeshan.

Something, you can't even dream of. Also, how dare you question my morals. Is it because you can't get laid by anyone except your wife, and your jealous that I can get Sorthern collage chicks to drop down on their knees with the snap of my fingers. Perhaps, your wife cheated on you and you're just mad that she'd rather go with one of her prepubescent students. Whose balls and dick (like I explained in my article) have yet to materialise.

Yet with all this you must insist invoking the almighty and glorious Yorozuya. Saying that they deserve to lose. No sir, I think you're wrong. Someone does deserve to lose, and that is your Peisandrian team. You guys are such pussies that you cant even disclose your teams identity. What kind of half-assed bullshit is that.

Long live The Yorozuya,

Dear The Yorozuya Rugby League Team

We believe Ju-San and the Yorzuyian media are acting stupid right now. We're threating to boycott a match against you, unless Ju-San is banned, because we cannot accept his or the media's behaviour.

Your sinceley,
Eddie Adams
Leader of the Palmouth Behaviour Management Group
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Dear The Yorozuya Rugby League Team,

We would like to apologize for Eddie Adam's letter and he has been fired from his post at the Behaviour Management Group. He was drunk, and was angry at the time. We believe that the Yorzuyian media has let you down, but Peisandros seem to be a enemy of yours as the people there seem like they want you to lose. We find this unfair and support you. Ju-San is a good man, so bless him and you.

We wish to kick Peisandros out of the event for bad behaviour, and will adress Southern Northland officals soon
Your sinceley,
Robbie Greenwhich,
Minster of Sports in Palmouth.

Beningrad Morning Star

SRL: Peisandros have no case to answer

Following calls from Robbie Greenwhich, Palmouth's Minster [sic] of Sports for the Peisandros team to be kicked out of the Rugby League World Cup for “bad behaviour”, Sorthern Rugby League officials have declared that won't be looking into the matter.

Speaking to the press ahead of Sorthern Northland's Group A clash with Pokemonman in Little Clotaire SRL chairman Gearóid Matthews said, “We are aware of a minor incident between a journalist from Peisandros and a journalist from The Yorozuya, and we've had an informal request from Palmouth's Ministry of Sports to kick the Sandrian team out as a result. If they really want that then they'd need to put in a formal request. However I can say now that they'd be wasting their time. The incident does not involve any of the players from the Peisandros squad, therefore it is not a sporting incident, therefore we will not impose sporting sanctions, or any other sanctions on them. Peisandros have done nothing wrong, they have no case answer and I'd request that Palmouth's Ministry of Sports don't waste our time over such trivial matters in the future.”
