National Arena: Wreuyvuss Parliament (Capacity:9,500)
Titles: 0
Ranking: Unranked
League: Wreuyvuss Premier League of Hockey
Nation Capital: Eyvindur
Brief History: The Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team was a non-recognized entity until the recent establishment of the Wreuyvussian Premier League of Hockey (WPLH) and the Beaver Cup is the first competition that the team is entering. Lead by Ebbe Borg, a coach that has helped establish Wreuyvuss as a hockey nation. Borg is the head coach of Eyvindur Capitals and has won the last three championships in the WPLH.

Roster:
Coaching Staff
Head Coach Ebbe Borg-41 y/o|Eyvindur Capitals|The mastermind behind the surging power of Wreuyvussian hockey, his dedication to Eyvindur has made him a hero in the city.
Assistant Coach (Off.) Tore Mattsson-52y/o |Eyvindur Capitals|A long-tenured associate of Borg, is known for his run-and-gun offense that has made the Capitals the best offensive team in the league for years.
Assistant Coach (Def.) Aage Mustanen-34 y/o|Eyvindur Capitals|A young associate of Borg that was hired after his great work with non-WPLH teams. Helped turn a defensively-challenged Capitals team into one of the top in the league.
Fitness Coach Nels Omdahl-56 y/o|Eyvindur Capitals|The most famous doctor in Wreuyvuss and now behind the bench. Known for his promotion of Capitalizt policies. Large affiliate of the Liberty Party, likes money. Known for bringing politics into the locker room which has brought much controversy.

Goalies
G Brent Dalgaard-29 y/o|Eyvindur Capitals|Star goaltender who is considered the best in the WPLH, has choked in important games though, offense bails him out frequently
G Thorvald Toov-22 y/o|Ingeborg Lightning|Up and coming goaltender, is challenging Dalgaard for the #1 spot on the national team

Defensemen
Left Defensemen
LD Halstein Aalto-26 y/o|Valdemar North Stars|Great defensive defenseman who lead the WPLH in +/- despite being on a weak North Stars team
LD Jarl Kron-37 y/o|Eyvindur Capitals|Famous Wreuyvussian defenseman, extremely tenured and is a rock on the blue line
LD Stein Solberg-28 y/o|Pyry Knights|Top defenseman on a mid-table Knights team, scores an above average amount for a defenseman

Right Defensemen
RD Jörgen Leifsson-21 y/o|Eyvindur Capitals|Best offensive defenseman in the WPLH, lead the league in points by a defenseman last season, has a booming slapshot
RD Sakke Pettersson-33 y/o |Ebbe Islanders|Was once teammates with Kron, also solid defensively and can deal out large hits
RD Ralf Stigsson-25 y/o|Ingeborg Lightning|A total goon, made a spot on the team out of hard work and his extremely hard slapshot. However, his slapshot rarely hits the net, but when it does it can obliterate goalies.

Forwards
Left Wingers
LW Hemming Claesson-39 y/o |Ebbe Islanders|Most recognized name in Wreuyvussian hockey, a veteran physical presence on the first line that can score clutch goals
LW Albert Hansen-26 y/o |Pyry Knights|Arguably the best defensive forward, is great on the penalty kill but does not score many points.
LW Enok Ulfsson-23 y/o |Ingeborg Lightning|Arguably the best special teams forward in the league, can do it all with a man up or a man down, but is a pedestrian forward when it comes to 5-on-5.
LW Lukas Jacobson-43 y/o |Eyvindur Capitals|A long-tenured veteran that has only joined the national team of recent. Was converted into a scorer in his later years by the Capitals and has been a great playoff performer.

Right Wingers
RW Loke Ovesen-24 y/o |Eyvindur Capitals|Star goalscorer of the Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team, lead the WPLH in goals last season
RW Jónatan Hummel-18 y/o|Ebbe Islanders|The up-and-coming star of the WPLH, has been under the eyes of the media for years, made his debut last season and was named the best rookie. A surprise naming to the second line has further cemented his status us a young superstar. Great goalscorer.
RW Einar Olofsson-26 y/o |Pyry Knights|Great playmaker, but rarely scores goals. Was right behind Kai Winter in assists last season and is also solid defensively. Can also give out heavy hits. Has great tools for everything except goalscoring.
RW Sindre Steensen-39 y/o |Eyvindur Capitals|Was once teammates with Albert Hansen, mentored him into a great defensive forward, was once the best but is now aging.

Centers
C Kai Winter-22 y/o |Eyvindur Capitals|Star playmaker of the Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team, lead the WPLH in assists last season
C Frej Leonardsson-19 y/o|Ebbe Islanders|Leonardsson is a great playmaker and goalscorer. Scored many goals and assists last season on a young Islanders team. The presence of Hummel makes the second line as deadly as the first.
C Godtfred Vollan-32 y/o|Bergliot Lions|Has been with Bergliot since the start of his career, his dedication paid off with a great offensive season last year that earned him a spot on the national team.
C Kim Langenberg-37 y/o|Valdemar North Stars|Naturally a fighter, but made the national team thanks to a solid offensive season. Can hit pretty hard too.

Reserves
G Marius Adamsson-18 y/o|Bergliot Lions|Became the #1 goalie in the second half of last season and did great, which earned him a spot on the national team.
C/RW Tuomo Normansson-30 y/o|Torborg Thunder|Considered a very underrated player, scores a low amount of points, but has great stickwork and can take away the puck in an instant
LD/RD Launo Lundgren-26 y/o|Valdemar North Stars|A solid offensive defenseman, but his lack of defense has caused him to miss a spot on the starting team.

Offensive Lines:
Claesson-Winter-Ovesen
Hansen-Leonardsson-Hummel
Ulfsson-Vollan-Olofsson
Jacobson-Langenberg-Steensen

Defensive Pairings:
Aalto-Leifsson

Microtekia has strong start; still comes up short in I'ntl d

Postby Microtekia » Wed Nov 09, 2011 7:53 pm

Moronto Arena, Soviet Canuckistan~ Hockey Microtekia, the national governing body of ice hockey, made it's international debut today in the Beaver Cup tournament in Soviet Canuckistan losing a 5-3 decision in a thrilling, up-and-down, game where the Snow Tigers came up just short. Coach Terry Spotz said after the game

"I'm proud of these guys, no reason to hang their heads at all, We just needed a bounce this way, or a shot to go a half-inch that way. We really would liked to have at least gotten a point, but we have a good foundation to build on here for the next game."

Indeed Microtekia did look like a winner early on in this game, after spending 40-plus second trapped in their own zone, Tigers defenseman Kristianach Hoover laid out an unsuspecting Treori forward and the puck squirted right to winger Tyler Respussinen who rushed down ice 2-on-1 with center David Peepsiki. After waiting out the Treori goaltender, "Respy" ,as he's known to teammates, slid a perfect pass to Peepsiki who buried the puck to give Microtekia a 1-0 lead with only 3:57 gone in the first.

Treori would not wait until the intermission to respond though, as during another period of prolonged attack, they forced Tiger defenseman Preston Struyple to take a hooking penalty in front of the net, leading to a power play goal to tie the match.

The second period started off with much of the same as Microtekia again spent the early part of the period penned deep in their own zone forcing the Snow Tiger penalty killers to take to the ice again, despite two heroic kills a third penalty, boarding on Pyter Mays, led to yet another power play goal for Treori.

48 seconds later Treori would make it 3-1 on a nasty point wrist shot which Tucker stopped intially, but the rebound got stuffed under his pads and into the net.

Down but not out Microtekia responded with a power play goal of their own, with less than a minute to go in the second, when "Shrimpy" Bauterson found Mays on the back door with a nice backhand pass, allowing a nice easy open net goal.

"Just a great pass from the Shrimpster there," Mays said after the game "I just tried to get to the net with my stick on the ice and see what I could do, he really did the heavy lifting, i just got the rewards."

After the intermission Microtekia would tie the game early in the third, when team captain Dale Airgnhart blasted a laser beam from the point, with center Colin Whyplechek in front providing traffic.

The game continued its back and forth pace until 14:32 when Treori capitalized on a turnover, as the Snow Tigers attempted to clear the zone, to retake the lead 4-3. Microtekia's offense pulled out all the stops over the games final few minutes, but a tremendous team effort from the Treori defense and a late empty net goal would seal the Tiger's fate in their debut match.

Airgnhart after the game said,

"It's tough to lose always, but we'll be back for the next one. Our team played well just a few penalties and turnovers to correct. Microtekia hockey is a brotherhood, we will have the joys from wins together, but first we take these learning steps. We are close, the fans shouldn't be worried.

Miley World's first game ends with a tie

Miley World played it's first game in the Beaver Cup and it ended with a score of 3-3. Minecraftisawesome scored first with about 15 mins. to go in the 1st period Then William Haley wanted to drop the gloves against a Minecraftisawesome player but he didn't want to, and Haley got a 2 minutes penalty for roughing. Minecraftisawesome scored on the power play when a shot from the blueline was deviated by a player in front of the net. After that goal Jacques Burns took a time up and he told the Untamed Robots to calm down and follow the game plan. Miley World finally scored on a 2 on 1 with 1:16 to go in the 1st period. The score was 2-1 for Minecraftisawesome at the end of the 1st period.

Miley World scored another goal in the 2nd period. After a turnover Garrett Shaw shot on the net but the goalie makes the save and the puck was loose then Cédric Mercier jumps on the puck and makes a pass to William Haley in front of the net and he scores! It was the only goal of the second period and the score was 2-2. In the 3rd period Miley World takes a penalty for tripping and Minecraftisawesome scores on the power play. Then with 4:29 remaining in the 3rd Miley World scored when Adam Dowell dumps the pucks and Giguère fight for the puck behind the net and then he pass to Brandon Blake and he scores. It was 3-3 and the game ended with that score.

WREUYVUSS FREE PRESS
Wreuyvuss National Team Falls 2-0 in First Major Game
Carastoga 2 Wreuyvuss 0
At first, there was awe, then, shock. The Wreuyvuss Broadcasting Channel had hyped up the match between Wreuyvuss and Carastoga as the biggest sporting event in Wreuyvussian history since the matchup between Wreuyvuss and Carastoga. The WBC went as far as even as decided to go do look more like into spying on the entire roster of the Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team for a full 24 hours before the first match. Now, many hockey players are looking to sue the WBC for infringing upon their freedoms.

Some skeletons in the closet were uncovered with the "Off the Ice: Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team" show that was sponsored by Big Brother surveillance. Some notable scenes included Lukas Jacobsson snorting "Pixie Sticks" and Enok Ulfsson reading a naughty magazine that involved Dogs, Toasters, Mario and twelve foot long brooms. The situation now is being referred to as "WhyTheHellWouldThisProgramEvenExistgate" and the Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team is considering banning WBC from broadcasting their games ever again. If the Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team were to switch to another channel, the best channels that would consider actually showing hockey would probably be The Wreuyvuss Weather Channel (WWC), the Wreuyvuss TV Guide Channel (WTVGC) and Versus-Wreuyvuss (VS-W). The Wreuyvuss Woman's Channel (WWOC) is considered a darkhorse in the race too.

Before the whole -gate scandal became worse than the Penn State Jerry Sandusky scandal, there was a hockey game. Wreuyvuss played well, by taking the first period by storm. Kai Winter controlled the play with his great passes, but Kody Kellough stood on his head. Winter was quoted after the game by calling Kellough "a dirty cereal loving bastard" and when the reporter asked him why he called him that, he told the reporter that he was that "because he has a poopy face". Things were looking good for Wreuyvuss, but then Ralf Stigsson fired a shot off of the crossbar on the power play and Nelson Long of the Ontario Chargers picked up the puck after the puck landed in the opposite offensive zone. Long would fire the puck quicker than Donald Trump would fire someone with actual hair and he scored easily past the Dalgaard. Ebbe Borg was so frustrated with the play that he threw seven water bottles, thirteen hockey sticks and one jock strap at Ralf Stigsson. Stigsson might be questionable for tomorrow's game.

The second period would not go any better for Wreuyvuss. The team would have its moments of scoring chances, but they still were virgins in the Beaver Cup. By the middle of the second period, Wreuyvuss started to get faulty with discipline. The Dalgaard had to step in by saving his team from a 2-0 deficit by making a couple of great pad and stick saves. After the game, Erik Snow was quoted as being "quite frustrated" that his team could not score "against a pack of worthless bums on skates". Those words be fightin' words, Erik. The second period would end with an even greater chance for Wreuyvuss where Loke Oveson had Kody Kellough beat with a backhand but the puck went into the net right after the buzzer. Oveson was quoted as saying "Man, if only it was like basketball, dawg, man".

The third period, became a grind fest. Both teams suddenly turned into the trapping New Jersey Devils of the 90's and decided to play neutral zone hockey for about the first fifteen minutes of the third period. There were no penalties, and very few shots on goal by each team too. However, the dull play was livened up when Kim Langenberg started a fight with Alan Stransky because Langenberg believed that his number "was incredibly stupid". Langenberg would win the fight and the Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team bench received a stimulus packaged endorsed by President Langenberg. However, this would not bail out the team from its deficit. In the last minute of the game, Tyro McGray fired a slapshot from the red line to score an empty netter, thus sealing the deal and finalizing the score as a 2-0 win for Carastoga.

Basil Catnip - despite the humorous surname, Basil's team, the Rockets, took second place, in a large part due to Basil's 92% overall saving percentage. If Basil could play with stability, he would rival Stolichnuy, as his talent surpasses Victor's, but he's still young.
Erema Aleksandrov - Taken as a sub-goaltender, because his team, the Torpedo, won Gold. His 90% average saving percentage is not the best, and considering his defensive support, it should be better.

Manager/CEO: Ivan Moneybags
Domestic Clubs: Torpedo, Rockets, Tigers and Waves (Yes, there were a lot of jokes in Shofercia when Torpedo defeated Rockets in the finals.)

The Hockey Journal

Team Shofercia is back! In the Summer and Winter Olympics, The Eagles won seventh place overall, but first amongst newcomers. Team Shofercia won the NS Winter-X Games, and recently won the First World Games. Team Shofercia took eight place in the Winter Paralympics, but got Second Place in Biathlon. Only in hockey did Team Shofercia bring embarrassment after embarrassment, after embarrassment. Clearly the Eagles need more practice, so they came to Soviet Canuckistan to get it.

Erema Aleksandrov impressed everyone with his play today, which enabled Team Shofercia to draw against the Hosts in the Beaver Division, making amazing saves. But now the team must step it up, as the Eagles need to win the two upcoming games. Head Coach Uriev was pleased with the game today, and we caught up with him for an interview:

THJ: What are you chances of winning?
Uriev: I don't know. We're unpredictable. Sometimes we have great games, like tonight, and sometimes we don't. We need to be more functional, but there's also a lot of pressure, because we're Shofercians, and everyone expects us to win.

THJ: Would it be easier if some of the pressure was removed?
Uriev: Definitely. But we both know that won't happen.

THJ: What worked tonight, and what didn't?
Uriev: The hosts played extremely well. We held our own. They had more chances than we did, but we had fluid transitions, decent lane changes, and sometimes the damn puck just wouldn't go in! Three times we hit the post!

THJ: What about the refereeing?
Uriev: It was fair. I mean I'll never admit that during a hockey game, and neither would the other sides' coach, but after the game - if it's fair, it's fair.

THJ: Did you agree with Aleksandrov being named the player of the game?
Uriev: Absolutely. He was on top of his best game, and he earned it!

THJ: Any plans for the future?
Uriev: Now that the hosts are behind us, time to win!

THJ: Thank you for your time, and Good Luck!
Uriev: Thank you for the interview.

Sports News brought to you by LBC
Rachel Champan - MAPLE LEAF ICE RINK, SOVIET MONTREAL, SOVIET CANUCKISTAN
A great day for the Lubeian ice-hockey team at the Beaver Cup today. The First Star, Laurenz Matousek scored both goals against the team's Shofercian opponents. However our goalie Mika Jorgensen did concede one very skilfully scored goal. This 2-1 victory is a contrast to yesterday's 4-0 loss against Joselind.

This pushes the Lubeian team to second place in the Beaver Division.
We hope they perform even better in tomorrow's match against the hosts Soviet Canuckistan.

Another tie for Miley World

Miley World can't win a game but they doesn't lose either, the second game ended with a score of 0-0. Archnar doesn't have a pretty good offense but they plays the trap very well and they kept Miley World from scoring. Their goalie was outstanding, he stopped all Miley World's 36 shots. Our goalie, Juukka Karjalainen was really good either, he blocked all Archnar's 32 shots. We had two fights in the game, one in the first period when William Haley fought with an unknown player and one in the 3rd when Jamie Fraser fought with another unknown player.

Microtekia loses 2nd beaver Cup Match 1-0 to Wreuyvuss

Postby Microtekia » Thu Nov 10, 2011 5:31 pm

Soviet Canuckistan~ The Microtekia Snow Tigers made another valiant effort, but again came up short tonight in their second match of group play. The game got off to a physical start with several big hits going each way. Late in the first period Wreuyvuss forward, Loke Ovesen took a big hit from Erik Erikson right in front of his team’s bench. Wreuyvussian D-man Ralf Stigsson took exception to the hit and what could be the early candidate for fight of the tournament was on, in a dazzling, furous flurry of punches Stigsson got the early upper hand but big Erikson would return the favor late and land several of his own.

The tigers poured on the pressure for the next 2:34, with Teemu Johnson, just missing a connecting pass from Pyter Mays with Wrueyvussian goalie Brent Dalgaard down and out on the opposite side of the net. With the D pinched down looking for a goal, the puck took a strange bounce off the end boards right to forward Godtfried Vollen. Vollen raced down ice two on one with Enok Ulfsson but waited out Tigers goalie Tucker, and fired it over his glove hand into the back of the net himself to make it 1-0.

The 2nd period was more of the same, with the game taking a very defensive nature. Microtekia could not solve Dalgaard the rest of the way as he put on a dazzling 34 save performance to give his team the victory.

Coach Terry Spotz promised improvements, as his team has shown flashes of greatness but struggled to find consistancy. He promised an intense review of fim, and a strong practice before the next match.

Microtekia now stands 4th in the Polar Bear division and needs some friendly losses and a big win, but Trotz says the boys are committed to winning, and will give their all no matter what the standings say.

WREUYVUSS FREE PRESS
Wreuyvuss Moves On!
Wreuyvuss 1 The Treorai 0
The Republic of Wreuyvuss is thrilled! The Wreuyvuss National Hockey Team has moved onto the quarterfinals after the team grinded out a 1-0 victory over the Treorai. The previous WBC scandal was settled after the CEO of WBC paid settlement charges to the entire roster and coaching staff. Although there were winners on the ice, there were losers off the ice, The Wreuyvuss Women's Channel (WWOC) folded after finding out that that the scandal was no more.

Wreuyvuss entered the game with one win and one loss, after dropping the first game to Carastoga 0-2 and winning their second game against Microtekia 1-0. The first period started off with a bang, when Ralf Stigsson fired a shot that broke a piece of glass 2:31 into the game. After that, The Treorai would continuously put pressure onto the Dalgaard, but the Dalgaard stood tall. Ebbe Borg was so pleased by the efforts of the Dalgaard that after a save 13:29 into the first period he went onto the ice and started bowing down to the Dalgaard. Subsequently, Borg was ejected from the game and Wreuyvuss was given a 5 minute unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, served by Kim Langenberg. During this penalty, one of the defenseman from the Treorai fired a shot past the Dalgaard but it flew off the crossbar until a forward from the Treorai slapped a rebound that was saved by a sliding Halstein Aalto who subsequently batted the puck past the blue line.

With Tore Mattsson commanding the National Team, things looked challenging. The Treorai still had their head coach, the Treorai Head Coach, who was unusually generic and plain, similar to how all of the players on his team were six feet tall and two hundred pounds and looked all the same. Mattsson would go further to say that his opponents "looked like a bunch of robots out there" after the game. The Treorai Head Coach would leave with a parting shot by saying "I think he [Mattson] is very wrong, we, the Treorai National Hockey Team, are a very ADJECTIVE_12 MISSING hockey team and our play was ADJECTIVE_13 MISSING in this tournament". Anyways, the head coach died of a short circuit after the game, but that's not what matters. The Treorai continued to pour it on against the Dalgaard, but the Dalgaard stood tall. 6:57 into the second period, Wreuyvuss received an important power play after one of the Treorai players interfered with Kai Winter. Wreuyvuss would get an outstanding chance when Winter set up Ovesen for a one timer, but the Treorai goalie made a great glove save to rob Ovesen. Later in the period, the Treorai coach used his ran his program called TheTrap.exe and his team tried to play shutdown hockey for the rest of the period, because he finally calculated that if his team got a tie, they would move on.

In the third period, Mattson noticed the overly-defensive ways of the Treorai, and demanded an all out attack from his team in order to win. Wreuyvuss put the pressure on, but the Treorai goalie was making save after save. 4:31 in, a defenseman of the Treorai was caught holding, and Wreuyvuss had another chance. Enok Ulfsson tried a wraparound against the Treorai goalie, but was denied and then Jörgen Leifsson came in from the slot and fired a shot that hit off the post. The offense would continue to work and work, but the Treorai goalie was holding out against the arsenal of Wreuyvuss scorers. With 1:37 left, Frej Leonardsson made a critical mistake when he was caught hooking a forward of the Treorai, and the hopes of many Wreuyvussians were fading. As the one minute warning was announced, the Treorai were playing keep away. However, one of the defenseman accidentally gave away the puck to Hemming Claesson at the point and Claesson rushed down the ice past him and fired a top shelf shot past the goalie of the Treorai with :23 on the clock to put Wreuyvuss ahead. The entire team rushed to the ice to celebrate when it happened, including the entire coaching staff. However, the referee was frustrated with this overly-excessive celebration and gave a five minute unsportsmanlike penalty on the team and forced the game to continue. The Treorai had one last shot to score with a 5-on-3, and the head coach commanded the players to use AllOutOffense.exe to try to score. One of the forwards of the Treorai had a psuedo-breakaway with less than ten seconds left, but the Dalgaard rushed out and made a stick save and the puck went out of the offensive zone and Wreuyvuss had won.

The Carasatogans are doing well in the Beaver Cup, hosted by new nation Soviet Canuckistan. Going 2-1-0 in the opening matches and advancing at the top of Group 2, as well as a big 4-2 win over Shofercia in the Quarterfinals, the Ice Hawks have been putting on an impressive show, much like that at the debacle that was the last Hockey World Cup (don't get me started), and now they sit in the semifinals, perhaps the favorites to win it all.
The six men that make up the first line for Carasatoga have come together to dominate this Beaver Cup. The 3 K's on defense as they are known: Kody Kellough, Kurt Isrica and Kelly Brookings have allowed only one goal in four games as the three men up top: Shane Summerlin, Jamie Westick and all-star Erik Snow have scored nine goals between them in four games. Snow leads with 4 goals 2 assists, then Summerlin comes in with 3 goals 1 assist and finally Westick with 2 goals 1 assist.
Its not official yet who the Ice Hawks will play in their semifinals bout, but coach Robert Englund is excited for whomever the team will face, "I think we have gotten this together well enough to where we can face everyone in this tournament without any fears. We just need to stay solid, and stay focused, and try not to make too many mistakes that the other teams can capitalize on and I am positive we will get a good result." That result will come tomorrow in Soviet Canuckistan so tune in to see whether or not Carasatoga can keep it together and take home the inaugural Beaver Cup.
