Unfortunately, no. You'll mostly just have to toy around with it until you get the hang of it. There are a couple of really helpful posts earlier in this thread, if you give it another look-over.

Is there a way to get xKoranate to give Wight and myself home-field advantage, while scorinating all non-Wight, non-NMS matches as being played on a neutral field?

EDIT: I solved my first problem, but now I have another question.

When scoring an autoracing match, how do I take the results from qualifying into the actual race?

Also, I tried it out and the results don't seem to be realistic. I'm running a 50 lap race with the lap record set to 44.00, and I'm getting race times of of 46:xx.xx. Now, I'm reading that as a lap record of 44 seconds and a finishing time of 46 minutes, which seems likely if it was a 100-lap race, but at half that distance seems a bit out. Am I reading this wrong, or entering the information wrong or something?

Theoretically, you could scorinate your groups' matches individually then put it all back in to the table generator. But in the past I believe hosts would simply tack on a small increase to their rank to make up for home advantage.

Barunia wrote:When scoring an autoracing match, how do I take the results from qualifying into the actual race?

CH will have to confirm this, but I figure "use starting grid" would have something to do with it.

50 laps * 44 seconds = 36 minutes. Obviously not every lap will be done in 44 seconds, but 46 minutes seems correct for a 45-odd-second lap over 50 laps. Seconds and minutes aren't handled in 10s, so you can't simply multiply 44 seconds by 100 as that's not the same as 44 minutes.

Yeah i tend to avoid Xkoranate for a similar reason, only using it for Basketball and Handball. I find my way around it with Hockey and when i used to do Rugby by using the Baseball and Football scorinators respectively in NSFS. It may not be your average league results for those sports but you can say hey our rugby or hockey teams tend to score more because of the way the play and such.

Does anybody know how to change the coding for a sport in Xkoranate? Since I hate using shootouts, I would love to change the coding to have no shootouts and just let the game continue with double OTs and so on...

Load the .xml file in Notepad (make a backup first). In this case, I think you might be able to get rid of shootouts by changing "shootoutProb" to 0, but I wouldn't know how to change it to generate a number of OT periods, so every game would end in single OT.

Does anyone know which particular field in the xml file would dictate what the output time would be for a given event that uses time. Say the Triathlon for instance, in an Ironman style, competitors usually have an overall time limit of 17 hours (2h 20m swim, 8h 10m bike, and 6h 30m run - though can very by event from what I've found). The current xkoranate version for Triathlon outputs times under two hours (typically 1:48:00.00 to 1:56:00.00 range from my testing), it also produces <LAP> and <DNF>. I'd like to modify this to get more RL comparable times as well as remove the <LAP> indicator as you can never be lapped in a Triathlon - at least not that I know of, you either finish or you don't.

I think I found how to reduce the number of <DNF> results (with the help of Saintland and The Royal Kingdom of Quebecs' discussion in the last two or three posts), so that if you have a specific trounament you had to qualify for you could set the <DNF> to a lesser amount, since those athletes would be more likely to finish, but I wasn't sure on the above.

Thank you in advance!

Allow me to add upon it that the current triathlon results are caused as it concerns the Olympic triatlon distance (1.5 swimming, 40 cycling, 10 running). In the Olympic triathlon, the cycling course sometimes goes in laps, of varying distance. I think xkoronate (assume, guess, ...) has Beijing as the basis for the triathlon plug-in, an Olympics with a small cycling course.

I do, however, want to say that Ironmans are usually around 8-9 hour.

The Beijing Olympics also had the running course follow a lap system, but I don't think any times were indicated as <LAP> and it's still a finish or don't finish event. Beijing 2008 Triathlon results (I believe the final three participants with times should be 1h18m). Ultimately I'd be looking at adding in all of the distances.

1. Sprint
2. Intermediat (or Standard - used in the Olympics)
3. ITU Long
4. Long (70.3 or Half-Ironman)(Half)
5. Ultra Distance (Ironman)(Full)

I can see why it would be set up as the Olympic distance, as the scoranator seems to cover everything under the sun for Olympics, but why not add them all in like some of the other items - Water Skiing for example (not an Olympic event that I can recall) has six items (3 men, 3 women) then four of those have three subcategories.

Thank you Buyan for the additional information, as I was not thinking Olympics at all when I was looking at Triathlon and the times.

I'm looking into creating my own sport on xkoranate, I think I've found out most. I took Basketball as a base.

Am I correct in thinking that the first datapoint(s) is/are the most prevalent scores by chance (Normal distribution)? Then what does the second one mean? Number of points you can get at any scoring chance?

At first glance, the results seem close to what I anticipated, but I'll keep tinkering until I'm happy with what I have. I'm also looking at the xml files of other sports to see how lower scoring sports work in xkoranate.

EDIT: New Wolfopolis TGd me the answer: the first paragraph is regular time, the second (smaller) paragraph is overtime. Thought I'd post this here for future generations

I figured out the code is using seconds to determine the time so I have that modified and it is now outputting anywhere from the first place finish for men in October 2013 of 8h12m29s up to the standard cutoff time of 17h for Ironman distance, but when I tried to remove the <LAP> the program crashes....anyone have any ideas on that one?

Maybe you could edit the results to change LAP to DNF and/or reduce the frequency of LAP to where it is almost non-existent?

Would that be like setting the LAP value above the "0" dataPoint pos level? say 70000
Code: Select all
<string type="lapped">LAP</string>
      <double type="lappedValue">61200</double>
<dataPoint pos="0">61200</dataPoint>
I'm also thinking that setting the "lapped" to DNF and then changing "lappedValue" to half of what it is. As if I'm thinking of that correctly if they then hit the 61200 it would = DNF.

Or just reduce the statusProbs to near absolute zero?
Code: Select all
<list type="statusProbs">
         <double>0.0636363636364</double>
But I'm not entirely sure what the statusProbs is representing.

Guess I can test the two and see what happens.

Hello, I have a question about events.

I was browsing around the "sports" file with all the sports files in them, and I found a few (such as Snowboard Cross) which were in the file but I couldn't find when using the actual program. I tried opening the sports files and just the plain program came up (where I still couldn't find the events I saw).

Does anyone know how to fix this? Is it a bug? Or am I doing something incorrectly?

Thanks in advance.

I just checked and noticed that the women's events but not the men's events show up. Loading the files in Notepad, it appears that the "AlpabetizedName" setting for the women's events (and the equivalent men's events) is identical. That is likely the cause of the men's events not showing up.

The women’s snowboard cross files have erroneous “alphabetizedName”s that are the same as the men’s files, which prevents them from loading properly. Correcting the names in the files fixes this. Are there other instances of this? Please let me know so I can fix them in the next update, which should be coming this week.

Is there a place where I can download the xml sport files for Men's and Women's slopestyle snowboarding, would I have to re-download xkoranate, or are those sports not supported by xkoranate?

Thanks.

They're judged the same way as halfpipe, so you could just use the halfpipe files. Though irl there's been a change in judging systems (scores are now in the 90s, at Vancouver they were in the 40s) so you might want to take note of that.
