Throwing in the fact that I currently have three nations with Gridiron Leagues, so if you do get something running, I'd be totally in!
We need a discussion thread... or we need to convert this into the discussion thread and start a new newswire thread.

That's the beauty of it; you can RP however you like, how much or how little fatigue they have. It doesn't need to be equal to real world situations.

Good point! Could be like that old space monster football cartoon where they instantly regenerate their missing body parts and repair their other injuries after the game. Thanks for helping me pry m mind open :)

Another Gridiron report? Yep! What to say, what to say? What happened? Did Manvero win again? Was Rallion back in the Final Four? What happened in the only league that has the teams grouped by planet? Let's see!
Falcon Conference Pld W L PF PA PD
1 North Irswabi Comets 15 14 1 434 241 +193
2 South Irswabi Tigers 15 12 3 446 206 +240
3 Rehaven Tide 15 10 5 419 267 +152
4 Vincevol Stars 15 10 5 393 317 +76
5 West Kassan Lions 15 10 5 364 306 +58
6 Jackson Flames 15 9 6 428 256 +172
7 Baralona Nationals 15 9 6 408 317 +91
8 Mara Kora Bulldogs 15 9 6 369 328 +41
9 Triora Wild 15 7 8 386 354 +32
10 Victoria City Lightning 15 7 8 368 395 −27
11 New Sandoval Marlins 15 7 8 337 373 −36
12 Cassion Zips 15 5 10 315 446 −131
13 Sandrali Dragoons 15 4 11 282 453 −171
14 Newshanville Pilots 15 3 12 226 426 −200
15 Comoso Blue Jackets 15 2 13 224 426 −202
16 Lokka Jolt 15 2 13 204 492 −288
North Irwabi wins yet again, but this time, South Irswabi finishes right behind them. The Jackson Flames had to sweat at the end as they tried to cling to the last spot. The West Kassan Lions had an impressive season to join the playoff ranks. The wild card round will be a toss-up, but it should be an all-Irswabi Falcon Conference Final.

Gyron Conference Pld W L PF PA PD
1 Manvero Heroes 15 13 2 509 224 +285
2 Orion City Rollers 15 13 2 455 258 +197
3 Iriwati Panthers 15 12 3 530 255 +275
4 Pyria Thunder 15 10 5 465 258 +207
5 La Pinatra Crusaders 15 10 5 423 269 +154
6 Xerion Knights 15 10 5 346 397 −51
7 Frauhofen Terror 15 9 6 395 245 +150
8 Canesbrough Tornadoes 15 7 8 350 361 −11
9 Wurlington Dynamos 15 7 8 337 373 −36
10 Otoheinsbruk Sharks 15 6 9 312 347 −35
11 Hanszhoven Dolphins 15 5 10 325 412 −87
12 Baskardo Storm 15 5 10 288 444 −156
13 Janesville Kings 15 4 11 282 469 −187
14 Esul Sonics 15 4 11 236 443 −207
15 Locksgren Tappers 15 3 12 263 466 −203
16 Qillan Pride 15 2 13 213 508 −295
Xerion fans had to hold their breath after the Knights' loss to the Panthers to see if Frauhofen would do the same; the Terror lost 13-19 to the Dynamos, and the Knights made it to the playoffs. Manvero, who made it to the Ultimate Gridiron Cup last year, finished atop the conference. Any of the top three can take the title in this conference.

Isildar Conference Pld W L PF PA PD
1 New Imperia Warriors 15 13 2 530 190 +340
2 Jurion Champions 15 13 2 413 273 +140
3 Gimiki Beach Flying Turtles 15 12 3 412 252 +160
4 Io Tomar Blazers 15 12 3 435 310 +125
5 Manecar Hawks 15 10 5 384 278 +106
6 Kassa Neoren Ducks 15 9 6 353 279 +74
7 Kirlin City Flyers 15 8 7 413 341 +72
8 Vititi Paladins 15 8 7 383 339 +44
9 Takken City Bears 15 8 7 328 390 −62
10 Oprium Executioners 15 7 8 393 357 +36
11 Votto Toren Buccaneers 15 6 9 321 434 −113
12 Baratoko Rebels 15 4 11 305 409 −104
13 Loreza Racers 15 4 11 266 412 −146
14 Noxion Hydra 15 3 12 286 425 −139
15 Lyron Lancers 15 3 12 303 443 −140
16 New Kinsi Cyborgs 15 0 15 164 557 −393
Io Tomar join the playoff ranks, but will have a hard time of it hosting the Manecar Hawks, who have playoff experience. New Imperia did win the regular season title, but the Warriors' stranglehold on top of this conference may be starting to slip.

Moons Conference Pld W L PF PA PD
1 Rallion Guards 15 15 0 516 226 +290
2 Ytriba Shock 15 13 2 533 186 +347
3 Larmedo Legion 15 12 3 447 332 +115
4 Perusisi Brigade 15 11 4 481 284 +197

6 Iona Spaceport Defenders 15 9 6 357 354 +3
7 Maxville Crew 15 8 7 343 354 −11
8 Qarin Te Giants 15 8 7 339 403 −64
9 Kanino Wings 15 6 9 348 357 −9
10 New Irswabi Red 15 6 9 329 428 −99
11 Eturu Eagles 15 5 10 360 411 −51
12 Iona City Ants 15 5 10 352 407 −55
13 North Iona Herd 15 5 10 286 453 −167
14 Polti City Samurai 15 5 10 307 489 −182
15 Pikana Pirates 15 3 12 284 414 −130
16 Iona Junction Spiders 15 0 15 267 521 −254
Rallion dominates the regular season. The Guards are the only team to make it to the Falconfarian Championships in consecutive seasons and they showed with the perfect regular season record. Will the Guards be able to pull it off three years in a row?

Wild-Card Weekend

Falconfar Conference
Rehaven Tide 24–0 Jackson Flames
Vincevol Stars 13–14 West Kassan Lions
The Tide rolled over Jackson, dominating in every aspect. West Kassan escaped Vincevol with a last-second Touchdown. Good luck to them as they go face the Irwabi squads...

Gyron Conference
Iriwati Panthers 6–0 Xerion Knights
Pyria Thunder 21–20 La Pinatra Crusaders
Iriwati dispatched Xerion in boring fashion, while Pyria just edged the Crusaders.

Isildar Conference
Gimiki Beach Flying Turtles 9–20 Kassa Neoren Ducks
Io Tomar Blazers 10–28 Manecar Hawks
A pair of upsets here... Though Io Tomar was having an odd year, doing so well.

Moons Conference
Larmedo Legion 47–14 Iona Spaceport Defenders
Perusisi Brigade 10–20 Locido Force
Locido is up first to try to stop Rallion. Larmedo's offense is really rolling right now.
Divisional Rounds

Falcon Conference
North Irswabi Comets 33–17 West Kassan Lions
South Irswabi Tigers 3–20 Rehaven Tide
And Rehaven stuns all of Falconfar! What a victory!

Gyron Coference
Manvero Heroes 6–7 Pyria Thunder
Orion City Rollers 20–17 Iriwati Panthers
No magic for the Heroes this time around, as the Thunder instead go through to the Championships.

Isildar Conference
New Imperia Warriors 32–17 Manecar Hawks
Jurion Champions 14–10 Kassa Neoren Ducks
No upsets here. Will New Imperia return to Falconfarian Championships?

Moons Conference
Rallion Guards 36–0 Locido Force
Ytriba Shock 9–7 Larmedo Legion
Rallion looked in form in their dominant display against Locido. Ytriba, on the other hand, needed a last-second FG. The Guards look poised to return to the Championships once again...
Championship Games

Falcon Conference
North Irswabi Comets 13–24 Rehaven Tide
And Rehaven's done it! They've beaten both of the Irswabi teams! Wow! Are they the team of destiny this time around?

Gyron Conference
Orion City Rollers 25–14 Pyria Thunder
The Thunder can't finish the job, and lose to the Rollers.

Isildar Conference
New Imperia Warriors 3–3 Jurion Champions (6–9 OT)
Jurion makes sure that the Warriors fall just short once again.

Moons Conference
Rallion Guards 33–20 Ytriba Shock
Rallion returns, yet again.........
Falconfarian Championships Semifinals

Rehaven Tide 10–9 Orion City Rollers
Jurion Champions 17–13 Rallion Guards

WHAT? The favorites lose in dramatic fashion, setting up an extremely odd pairing for the crown...

Falconfarian Championship Game
Rehaven Tide 19–3 Jurion Champions
Rehaven takes the title.

Qualified for Champions' League (FAL)
1. Rehaven Tide
2. Jurion Champions
3. Rallion Guards
4. Orion City Rollers

Currently another Northern Sunrise Islands puppet

OSAGIF League season 19

The OSArian GridIron Football League is split into two conferences -- Steel Coast and Crown Coast -- each with two divisions.
Each division contains five teams, who play each other twice across the course of a season.
Each team plays every other team in its conference once also, for a total of thirteen games per season.

The divisional champions, plus three at-large teams in each conference enter the playoffs, which are a seeded single elimination bracket. The higher seed -- based on regular season results -- has the home advantage until the championship game (the Osarius Bowl).

The twentieth season of the OSAGIF League is currently in planning. I intend to create uniforms and specify sponsorships and so-on and so-forth. So any willing volunteers (with logos, please) would be welcomed.

The OSAGIF league is clearly very young, as the sport was only made professional in Osarius after -- and directly as a result of the national team's triumph at -- Baptism of Iron III, but the establishment of the Osarian Gridiron Council (OGC) has pushed the sport forward again and there is to be a concerted effort to elevate Osarian gridiron teams to be considered among the best in the world (in a similar way to Utica University are at collegiate level).

The league is also set to see an expansion from 20 teams to 24. If any overseas businesses or people would like to purchase a new franchise in an Osarian city, please contact our offices (OOC: TG me, of course) and we can discuss this with you. Certain existing franchises will be available for purchase too, if you would rather not purchase a new one, and your ownership can be as hands-on or hands-off as you like.

Owners can relocate teams, change uniform colours, mascots, etc. Decide style of play... and so-on. Also, while there is a draft and the newly formed OGC try to maintain parity, there is actually no salary cap rule in the OSAGIF League, meaning there is no restriction on rosters beyond the league's 55 player maximum. (OOC: so if you want to RP it as building a dream team or whatever... go for it. Just let me know. My intention is simply to develop RP links for the World Bowl and possibly NSCF.)

Competition History:

Season Champion Score Runner-up
I Borgo Bears 17-12 Glaciers

Carmadin Gridiron Association-Season 2

With a much-delayed Season 2 comes some much-needed changes to the playoff and league structure:

The Carmadin and National conferences have been expanded from 10 to 14 teams each. The conferences will play a double-round-robin (26 games). The best 6 teams advance to the playoffs

The CGA playoffs have changed from the logistical nightmare of season I (thank god!). However, efforts to be "unique" have continued, and a modified double-elimination tournament will be used to decide the Conference Champions.

Teams ranked 1 through 4 will be placed into the winners bracket, teams ranked 5 and 6 in the losers bracket.
The first round will be the Wild-Card Round. #1 will play #4, and #2 will play #3
Next, the Elimination Round. The loser of 1v4 will play 5, and the loser of 2v3 will play 6, with the loser eliminated.

The Conference Semifinals see the winner of 1v4 play the winner of 2v3 in the major semifinal, and the winners of the two elimination round games face off in the minor semifinal.

The Conference Preliminary Final has the winner of the minor Semifinal play the loser of the major semifinal.

The Conference Finals pit the Major semifinal winners against the Preliminary Final winners.
If the Major semifinal winner wins the first game, they win the conference title.
If the Minor semifinal winner wins the first game, another game is played, with the winner taking the title.

The 2 Conference Champions then play in the Carmadin Bowl.

With holder Borgo bears and runner-up Glaciers in the same conference, it will be an exciting season! See you all in Chahr for Carmadin Bowl II!

MFL Season Seven
Season Seven Review:

Image

The third season with ten teams in the Mytanar Football League was just as successful as the first and second, the play-off system was the same - but the regular season was cut by four games. Two sets of games against the teams in your conference and one round of teams against the teams in the other one, so everybody is happy. Everybody gets to play every other team, making it a bit more competitive and making sure that the correct teams progress to the play-offs. Of course, it also gives every team a chance to scout each team too - meaning that when it comes to play-off time, or planning for future seasons, teams know what they have to do in order to negate their opposition's best weapons and tactics too. It has led to new tactical innovations, with offenses trying to imitate each other and defenses having to develop new ways to defend against these quirky offenses with two tight-end sets and four wide receivers etc. Everybody was fighting to the last to reach the Mytabowl this season, but there was also the rather strange situation of teams that may have a problem at the quarterback position maybe not trying so hard in order to get the most highly-rated quarterback since Brad Koch. Mikjel Ostgurn out of the University of Alzburg-Dyka has won four MNCF Championships and is mercurial at the position, so teams with out a good quarterback, may not have done as well as they could this year.

Esca Wolves surprised everybody in the Eastern Conference, all the teams in the Eastern Conference knew that their defense was going to be one of the best in the league - if not the best. It wasn't quite the best, but second best - but they still had the best record in the regular season, with an 11-2 record. This team is built on it's mammoth of a defense, every position is strong and the team is in their prime - the worries were over the offense, and how strong they would be. The offensive line and Tyrol Jukisal (the fullback), did a magnificent job of creating blocks for rookie halfback Radoslav Pavicic (out of Alex Util College), to exploit. Pavicic did a great job on the ground, grinding out 1,378 yards in the season - a lot more than anyone else who ran the ball. Of course, it helps to have experienced offensive linemen, Balasz Talian and Yann Nowicki blocking the opposition's defense out of the game. Cote-Ast Pirates could only just grind out a 7-6 record to reach the play-offs and the team that reached the play-offs with a losing record this year was Dyka Bluebloods, who needed a lot of help from Manny Texer and his young receiving corps. Texer passed for 3,889 yards in the year, with 23 touchdowns. He's one of the best in the league at the quarterback position, certainly, but would that be enough for them in the play-offs?

Ebor Oilers did brilliantly in the regular season, they usually do, their air raid offense once again did brilliantly for them, but having a good running game hasn't hurt them either, Xavier Rhode has done exceptionally for them, second in the league for rushing yards, with 1,093 yards on the ground. Maksimilijan Kuruc cemented his place as one of the greats as he was the top passer in the year, with 3,986 yards and 42 touchdowns passes. His two tight-end set was extremely confusing to opponents, which is probably what led them to the regular season #1 spot in the West. Behind them by a game were the Miago Bandits, with an 8-5 record, they surprised a few - they have a decent defense, Thomas Vazquez and Simeon Mussman being highly rated before the season. Their offense is weak though, Jared Murillo, the third year quarterback out of lowly Cizian College, is the only really highly-rated player. Sure, Tyko Hykinnen was good, but he was a two or three season wonder at best, in his first three seasons when nobody could deal with his skill set, tight-end Rijad Bizumovic is decent, but again, hasn't been in form recently. Thessia Jets got the final spot in the West, they have a quarterback problem, with their former quarterback mysteriously disappearing, but they could well be a prime spot for Mikjel Ostgurn, if they can manage to trade down for him. Could this be the first year that they weren't in the Mytabowl?

In the Eastern Play-In Round, Cote-Ast Pirates met Dyka Bluebloods in what was expected to be a fairly high-scoring game. Both teams have decent offenses, the Pirates are strong on the ground, the Bluebloods are excellent through the air. However, the strong Pirates defense shut down Manny Texer and company and allowed Buris Borkowski to dive in for a touchdown of his own, allowing them to win the game 7-0, by a touchdown and point-after. They knew they'd be going on to play the Esca Wolves, who aren't usually expected to get to this stage, but with a strong team this year, they had high hopes. The Pirates would need an upset in order to get to the Mytabowl for the first time ever. Whoever won the Eastern Conference Championship Game, would be visiting the Mytabowl for the first time ever. Neither of these teams have reached this stage before.

Of course, in the Western Play-In Round, perennial Mytabowl visitors, the Thessia Jets were travelling to play the Miago Bandits. The Bandits played better in the regular season, but the Jets have been to the Mytabowl in each of the six seasons thus far. No other team from the Western Conference has broken their dominance. This game was significantly more highscoring than the Eastern Play-In Round, 44 points shared between the teams, but it wasn't close as the Jets ran out 30-14 winners away from home, with three passing touchdowns in the game. The Bandits just couldn't deal with Hector Palmer at wide-out for the Jets, who was found time and time again by the Jets quarterback.

Next, were the Conference Championship games. Esca Wolves versus Cote-Ast Pirates, two teams who had both reached the play-offs twice before, but neither of them had won a Conference Championship or reached the Mytabowl. It was predicted to be a lowscoring game, both teams having stellar defenses and both being extremely fond of running the ball. The Wolves got 6-0 up, with Pavicic gaining well, but not well enough for them as they fell away towards the end of the first half, with the Pirates getting level with two field goals. Buris Borkowski was given the ball on a pitch, moving towards the sideline and upfield, past a few defenders and into the endzone. 13-6, two minutes left on the clock in the fourth quarter. The Wolves couldn't manage a late comeback though, as the Pirates headed to their first ever Mytabowl.

The Western Conference Championship wasn't as predictable as normal, where the Jets manage to win despite their regular season performance, which usually doesn't leave them as regular season champions. The Oilers came off an impressive season, with a 9-4 record, if they won, they knew that they would be going to the Mytabowl in their own backyard at Wenau Field, in snowy Ebor. Kuruc once again put on a show, as he threw in three touchdowns passes on the way to a 23-10 victory over the Jets. The other two coming from a safety, as Duralija tried to run out of his own endzone and was tackled for a loss, resulting in two points for the Ebor Oilers. This is the first season in which the Jets haven't managed to reach the Mytabowl and in fact have only managed an 8-7 overall record this year, which isn't what they usually manage, normally they manage quite a bit better than this.

Now to the Mytabowl, in the snowy wastes of Ebor, where the Oilers would effectively have a home game in the biggest game of them all. Normally it is just half and half, the allocation for the fans - but with the allocation for locals too, this led to there being more Oilers fans in the stadium than Pirates fans, by quite a bit. In the end, the biggest game of them all wasn't as entertaining as everybody had hoped as the Oilers eased to victory, Kuruc once again putting on a masterclass, passing for 397 yards. The Oilers win their first ever Mytabowl, the first team from the Western Conference to do so, other than the Thessia Jets. For Cote-Ast Pirates, the wait goes on, they will be extremely pleased with their season. They will obviously be disappointed with how they performed in the Mytabowl, but they probably did not expect to get this far in the first place. Congratulations to the Oilers this year.

Analysis

Falconfar Conference
South Irswabi took the conference behind the precise passing of QB Rocky Theodore, who threw for an amazing totl of 4,569 yards, 25 touchdowns, and only 7 interceptions. At the receiving end of ten of those touchdowns was WR Jack Desmondain. Right behind South Irswabi was last year's champions, Rehaven. Rehaven was a groud-and-pound team who benefited from a strong defense that only yielded an average of six points per game in the regular season. LB Cameron Willitz recorded ten sacks, three interceptions, and eight forced fumbles. RB Jason Wilhelm rushed for 1,456 yards and 20 touchdowns.

West Kassan finished third, riding the arm and leg of do-it-all QB Ralph Lars, who threw for over 3,000 yards, rushed for about 1,000, and accounted for 204 of the team's points. Jackson, North Irswabi, and Vincevol rounded out the playoff teams, which didn't differ from the last season by a single bit.

In the Wild-Card Round, Vincevol's K Isaac Hammond nailed the extra point after a last-minute touchdown scored by RB Kason Vixon, and the Stars managed to overcome Ralph Lars's solid stat line of 21 for 29, 245 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 56 yards on the ground that led to two field goals. Vixon scored his third touchdown of the game and became the unexpected star of the match. In the other matchup, North Irswabi's SS Henry Qaren picked off three passes by Jackson QB Erik Thompson and returned two of them for touchdowns as the Comets look to overthrow their rivals, South Irswabi.

Divisional Round saw QB Rocky Theodore put on a clinic against the Stars, as the South Irswabi defense was able to hold up Vixon to just 1 touchdown and a total of 57 yards while their quarterback led them to a touchdown and five field goals. K Michael Nelson was good from distances of 34, 42, 35, 41, and 53 yards. Although the inability to finish drives is a concern, the fact that the Tigers can rely on their kicker is good for the team. North Irswabi, however, set up an all-Irswabi matchup by destroying any hope Rehaven had of repeating by defeating the Tide, 14-9, at Tide Stadium. QB Vance Garrett, who had struggled all season with a stat line of 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, led the Comets on a five-minute, clock-eating drive that ended with a QB sneak to achieve the final score with just one minute and thirty-three seconds remaining. Rehaven's ground-and-pound style didn't help them with so little time, and the Comets pulled off the upset.

The Conference Championship Game, held at South Irswabi, didn't turn out to be the bitter game that everyone expected. Rocky Theodore led the Tigers to an amazing 8-of-11 on third downs, while the Tigers' sometimes underestimated defense held the Comets' third down statistics to 3-for-15. North Irswabi never crossed the South Irswabi forty yard line, and Michael Nelson was good again from 47, 50, and 53 yards, propelling the Tigers to the Falconfarian Championships.
Gyron Conference
Orion City beat the Crusaders for the regular season crown by one win. Do-it-all WR/KR/PR Patrick Patterson accounted for nine receiving touchdowns, seven kick return touchdowns, and three punt returning touchdowns for a total of nineteen touchdowns scored. On the other side of the ball, DE Benjamin Harold and DT Xavier Cameron combined for twenty-seven sacks, ten forced fumbles, and five defensive touchdowns as the Rollers conceded only eighty-six points in sixteen games. The Crusaders, right behind them, relied more on the reliable hands of TE Henry Gates, who recorded twelve receiving touchdowns and an astounding 1,239 yards as QB Osman Relau's favorite target.

Of the other four playoff teams, Frauhofen finally making the playoffs was the story. The Terror finally had third-year QB Zachary Yates lead them to a playoff berth. Yates had twenty-four touchdowns and only nine interceptions along with over three thousand five hundred yards in the best year of his career. Acquiring veteran WR Gerard Nixon seemed to help Yates, as Nixon became his favorite target, accounting for eight scores and over one thousand three hundred of those yards. Iriwati, Manvero, and Xerion rounded out the field.

Yates's luck ran out against Iriwati's clock-managing offensive attack. RB Michael Daniels and FB Potter Dunson managed to help the Panthers chew up over forty minutes of the clock as Iriwati kept the chains moving. Even when Yates had the ball, he was sacked three times and intercepted twice. The Panthers eked out a 16-6 win to advance to the Divisional Round. The other matchup saw Xerion take care of business against Manvero, with QB Raoul Lynx leading touchdown drives of 89 and 87 yards in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Patrick Patterson had a field day against the Knights in the Divisional Round, scoring four touchdowns - two receiving, one returning the opening kick, and one punt returning - as the Rollers destroyed the Knights 43-0. The scoreboard read 28-0 at the half, with all touchdowns scored by Patterson. Xerion couldn't muster any offense whatsoever, and the only drive they had crossing even midfield ended up with a turnover as Lynx fumbled the ball at the three yard line, caused by Harold. Henry Gates, on the other hand, caught the go-ahead TD pass from Relau with four minutes left in the fourth quarter as the Crusaders barely squeaked by the Panthers to set up a 1 vs 2 matchup for the Falconfarian Championship berth.

The Championship game was a slugfest. Neither side could move the ball much, as Harold and Cameron held up Relau from throwing to Gates, and the Crusaders surprisingly held up against the Rollers' outstanding special teams. It was actually Patterson who gave away the game, for, as he was heading down-field on a punt return near his own thirty, he fumbled away the ball with three minutes left. Crusaders' K Thompson Gilmore calmly put the resulting 44-yard field goal through, and it was barely enough to see the Crusaders to the Irswabi Dome.
Isildar Conference
The Ducks of Kassa Neoren nearly went undefeated in regular season play. It was a solid team effort with no apparent stars, hence Coach Nelson Meeks must be praised. Some weeks, it would be QB Fred Robbins stepping up. Other weeks, it would be the defense, led by SS Samuel Amore and MLB Jack Hart. They scored nearly twenty points a game while giving up only six. Behind them were the Champions of Jurion, who had a bona fide superstar - QB William Dawson. Dawson, probably the best quarterback in the League, threw for thirty touchdowns and only five interceptions and over four thousand five hundred yards. He threw for five hundred yards in three games.

Oprium actually sneaked into the playoffs as the final berth. The offensive line, led by C Israel Vance-Dixon, was exceptionally stout, giving rookie QB Diego Garcia enough time in the pocket to make good decisions. New Imperia, Manecar, and Gimiki Beach rounded out the last berths.

New Imperia knocked out Vance-Dixon in the first quarter and chased Garcia all over the field in a 16-0 shutout win while Manecar's RB Carol Newmann scored four rushing touchdowns in a dominating win over the Turtles. It wasn't what the fans had expected, and there were many negative comments about how neither of these games turned out to be as expected.

What the fans didn't expect, however, was Manecar's 20-9 win over Kassa Neoren. Newmann scored two more touchdowns, CB Bartholomew Xam picked off two passes, and the Hawks sent a message that they weren't to be taken lightly any longer. Even if the Hawks didn't win it all this season, they should be relevant for years to come. Jurion, though, relied on Dawson, and Dawson had a near-perfect performance of 23 of 26, 276 yards, and two touchdowns in a 20-0 beatdown of the Warriors that left the Warrior fans questioning just what had happened to their defense that had been so stout against Oprium.

It was Dawson who shined once again with a three-touchdown performance and a total of four hundred seventy-three yards in a 30-7 win over the Hawks, who must nurse their wounds and try for it again next year. At this moment, Dawson looks unstoppable.
Moons Conference
To no one's surprise, Rallion won this conference again, behind a juggernaut of an offense led by QB Miles Stance, RB Ted Gire, and WR Mark Temple. Stance threw for twenty-five touchdowns, Gire ran for twenty, and Temple was at the other end of ten of Stance's touchdown passes. Waiting for the Guards to make a mistake were the Shock of Ytriba, who had the best Wide Receiver tandem in the league in Gavin Barth, Harry Qazim, and Kenneth Wilson. It wasn't possible for defenses to cover all three of them, and the Shock finished second place. Distributing the rock was QB Derek Iverson, who, when hot, was the luckiest QB in the league. At times, however, he would throw the ball to the wrong jersey...

Larmedo, Locido, Kanino, and Perusisi rounded out the field, but this looked to be a two-way battle between Rallion and Ytriba. The Guards have the experience of going to Falconfarian Championships before, but the Shock look ready for a breakthrough.

At the Wild-Card stage, Larmedo was able to secure a 14-3 win over Perusisi behind the rushing of RB Ethan Podmore, while Locido capitalized on five defensive/special team scores in a 42-10 beatdown of the Wings. However, the talk of the sports community was that this was just going to be a round for talks, and that the real games will begin in the divisional round when the Guards and the Shock were involved.

And so it began. Rallion needed a defensive stance with two minutes left to overcome Locido, but Gire, Stance, and Temple were able to make it safely to the championship round. They watched nervously as the Legion took a 14-0 halftime lead in Ytriba. Alas, it wasn't to last, as Barth, Qazim, and Wilson all caught one touchdown apiece from Iverson, and a defensive safety caused by intentional grounding in the end zone provided enough cushion for the Shock to make one last trip to Rallion for the Conference Crown.

In Rallion, it was scoreless at the half. Stance led the Guards to two field goals in the third quarter, with Temple setting them both up. Then, disaster struck. While rushing across midfield, Gire's left foot was twisted, and he fumbled away the ball in the ensuing scuffle of falling down. Iverson converted this to be the only touchdown of the game with a beautiful throw to Barth, who out-leaped two defenders to get the ball. The Shock were able to tack on a field goal at the beginning of the fourth, and the margin stood for the victory as the Guards had to go for the touchdown and not the field goal at the end of the game. Rallion was able to get to Ytriba's seven yard line, but no further as the clock ran out.
Falconfarian Champioships
The first semifinal matchup had South Irswabi against Jurion. Rocky Theodore vs William Dawson - the arguably two best quarterbacks in the league going at each other. It was Theodore who struck first with a seventeen yard pass to Desmondain, but that would be the only touchdown the Tigers would score. Nelson's three field goals were matched by three field goals from K Liam Eckerson, and Dawson calmly led the Champions to a touchdown in the third quarter to TE Frank Ugard to make it to the Championship game of the gridiron league.

Hence, the second semifinal pitted the Shock against the Crusaders. Relau managed one touchdown pass to Gates in the second quarter, but after that, it was all Ytriba. Iverson threw for one touchdown to Barth and another to Qazim before the half, and then the Shock were able to add three field goals for the final margin. This set up a Jurion-Ytriba matchup for the fourth Falconfar Gridiron title, as Dawson would have to face another great quarterback in Iverson.

The Final, held at the Queen's Dome, looked to be a Quarterback duel in the beginning. Dawson and Iverson traded touchdowns and amazing passes in the first half, ending at a 14-14 draw. Then, things changed. Iverson lost his touch, threw for three interceptions in the second half, and lost the game. Dawson, however, remained as composed as ever, throwing for another touchdown to WR Victor Hector, and becoming the Falconfar Bowl MVP with a performance of 20 for 31, 373 yards, and three touchdowns, with no interceptions. The Champions actually became the Champions, and another drama-filled season drew to a close.

And the Bensville Bulldogs have done it. Winning in a tight battle at the Heaven Dome (New Schmejgland) gave the Bulldogs, and the town of Bensville their first Championship to celebrate in official sporting history. 20-12 the final score, the 2nd place Bulldogs came into this tournament as underdogs for a championship, especially after a 2 week losing stint, embarrassingly dropping to Atlancia at home, after holding a 21-0 lead with just 10 minutes to play, losing 30-27. Followed up by a 20-0 shutout loss to New Schmejgland, things weren't looking good, while the race for the Top 4 was evenly spread across the field, everyone still easily within reach. So Bensville survived a 4 week stretch where 3 losses came, only scalping West Frbiba along the way in that month, winning 27-10 before falling 24-3 to Southland, who Bensville exacted revenge on in the Championship game. West Frbiba were the surprising upstarts, and even more surprising chokers, as they led after 3 weeks at 3-0, before finishing the season 2-6, to go 5-6 for the season and finishing well out of the playoffs. Southland on that note started horribly, going 0-4 and looking out of it early, before winning 7 in a row to end the season 4th, and scalping New Schmejgland in the semifinals to go 8 in a row before the losing effort in the Championship game.

All in all, an exciting season, and we look forward to having another one soon. See you later!

IGCL 1

Postby Free South Califas » Mon Jul 09, 2012 10:48 am

International Gridiron Champions' League:
No multinational leagues were entered, so all participating leagues send 4 teams each
Yesopalitha (confirmed):
Kingston Lynx
North Hampton Grizzlies
Freedom's Altar Holy Templars
South Hampton Lions

Falconear (presumed) FLN:
Vitrolle
Wahai
Otta Renhai
Ynyswyr Tronka
[withdrawn by participant]

Michael VII (presumed):
Bensville Bulldogs
Southland Seasiders
Frbiba Phoenix
New Schmejgland Saints

Falconfar (confirmed) FAL:
Jurion Champions
Yrtiba Shock
South Irswabi Tigers
La Pinatra Crusaders

Mytannion (presumed):
Ebor Oilers
Cote-Ast Pirates
Thessia Jets
Esca Wolves

Carmadin:
Sharks GFC
Borgo Bears
Lipneh Arrows
Glaciers

Osarius (presumed):
Utica Bears
Dynapolis Dragons
Greeningham Giants
Kyoshiku Devils

Filopines:
Naracondingshire Jaguars
Rosalo Cardinals
Eastern Colts
Makati Eagles

Allamunnic States:
Nocksburg Razorbacks
Capua Cardinals
Draakurr Jarls
Filia Chargers

Ko-Oren:
Ko-Oren Capitals
Tireniun Wai
Hogone Tortoises
Alara Astronauts

Northern Sunrise Islands:
Solar City Coyotes
Canondale Aeros
Hayden City Thunder
Mink Dynamo

Free South Califas:
Sunset Cliffs
Ventura
Coachella
Long Beach

Civil Citizenry:
Janwick Storm
Portsdan Lions
Bartewick Patriots
Thugfield Crush

+ another four teams from Homelands our, probably

I was considering a ranking system like the one Osarius proposed, using 1/5 of each participating nation's WB ranking, plus a differential bonus for placing higher in their respective domestic leagues. However, only five participating nations have WB rankings, so I think that would be a little unfair for this particular field, especially when you consider how spread apart their ranks are. (ETA: Just to clarify, Osarius predicted this from the outset, and suggested no ranks.)
34.09 Alamunnic States
25.83 Osarius
12.24 Yesopalitha
5.92 Michael VII
5.58 Carmadin

So, not wanting to institutionalize an unfair hierarchy from the get-go, I figure I'll just give teams 4, 3, 2 and 1 skill points plus RP bonus (of up to 1?). I've never run a champions' league before and there seems to be little or no precedent in gridiron, so please TG me if you have any input, questions, comments, criticisms, ransom demands etc.

For now I'm thinking a play-in round of 3rd and 4th place teams to whittle the field down to 36 (there's no fair way to make it 32), then a double-round-robin group stage of 6 or 8 games to qualify 16.

I'll give a couple hours for people to send any objections and/or suggestions, since this seems to be a situation that calls for the hare and not the tortoise. Beyond that, if there are any objections, someone can incorporate them into IGCL 2, with some rankings to play with.

The final game, the Solidarity Bowl, will be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. Good luck to all nations!

ETA Homelands our

Postby Free South Califas » Mon Jul 09, 2012 2:53 pm

Very well, then. With much useful info received, and Homelands our notified as to their right to submit teams, I will cut off entries when I wake up tomorrow, unless it is before 7 AM. It is currently 3 PM here in California, and I am likely to wake up sometime after 9 AM, so you have at least 16 hours and probably 18 hours or more from whatever time this post says for you.

Each team will have a skill base of 1, 2, 3 or 4 according to their finish within their respective domestic league. (Sorry if "their" sounds awkward; it is an Americanism, I think.) Each league will also receive a static RP bonus from 0 to 4, per Osarius' suggestion modified as such: the distance between the best #4 team and the worst #1 team is the same as the distance between first and second place in your own league, and in the same direction. Combined with Yesopalitha's suggestion to set maximum skill at 20, this should lead to some exciting upsets, but hopefully some agreeable measure of predictability too.

Format: SQIS with IFAF (college-style) overtime in knockout stages. No overtime in group stage (don't want to beat them up too bad or saddle defensive teams with a disadvantage; and, teams that can't beat each other should be reflected as equal in the group stage anyway). With 52 teams assuming our late entry, there will be no play-in stage. Instead, IGCL will start with a single round robin: six (6) groups of seven (7) teams each. The top two teams from each group qualify for the octofinals; then there will be a one-game playoff round between the third placed teams from each group (homefield advantage determined by record and tiebreakers), from which the three winners and the team which lost by the smallest margin will advance to the octofinals. Single elimination will proceed thusly with home-field advantage determined by group-stage finish. There will be a third place game and a grand final, the Solidarity Bowl, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Edited to add: For the sake of fairness, I have decided to only include 1-2 nations controlled by the same person in this tournament.

I think Yesopalitha/Falconfar/Falconear are the only nations affected by this rule. Yeso, please let me know whether you would prefer to drop one of those out of the competition or merge one or more of them into a league that gets 6 seeds. Any way you want to do that is fine by me.

If we have a 6-team league, skill base will be adjusted proportionally for all teams in the tournament. If Falconfar/Falconear (or Yeso/Falconfar or Yeso/Falconear) combine, we'll have 54 teams and I'll run with 6 groups of 9 each, with a similar play-in format as above. If all three leagues combine, we'll have 50 teams and I'll do 5 groups of 10; the top 3 will qualify from each group, and the 16th seed will be a wildcard. If two or more teams from different groups are placed fourth and tied on record, they will square off on neutral ground. ("Neutral ground" will probably be in South Califas or one of my puppets unless someone wants to volunteer.)

Thanks for your prompt attention, Yeso. I really appreciate it.

With that set in stone, the tournament will commence with 44 or 48 teams (edit: or more) depending on whether Homelands our decides to submit a league. (edit: or other teams sign up)

If there are 48 teams, third place teams will host fourth place teams in a single-elimination play-in to whittle the field down to 36. The winners of these preliminary games will enter Pot 3, while first- and second-seeded teams will enter Pots 1 and 2 respectively; each group will have three teams from each pot. There will be 4 groups of 9 and a single-round-robin group stage. The top 4 from each group advance and it's single elimination from there, with homefield advantage determined each round by the best group-stage performance. The third-place game and Solidarity Bowl (grand final) will be held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

If we have 44 teams, there will be two group stages: one single round robin qualifying stage with 11 groups of 4 teams, where 32 teams qualify (the #3 team with the worst record does not qualify, determined by playoff if need be); and the main group stage will be another single round robin with 8 groups of 4 teams, pretty much exactly like the real life World Cup except that only the third place game and Solidarity Bowl are on neutral turf. Which of course gives some teams fewer home games, but hopefully it is a decent compromise between those who want a more realistic knockout-heavy tournament and those who want a more RP-friendly group-reliant tournament.

Homelands our requested a cutoff for three and a half hours ago and has not seen fit to submit a league, so I will cut things off here (unless they send one in by the time I finish grading RPs). Looks like we will have 48 teams and use the play-in format. Scores coming soon.

ETA: All bonuses have been calculated and we are ready to go. Stay tuned.

Sorry, but I don't particularly want my american football teams competing in international competition, so can you please withdraw them (it also would have been appreciated if a telegram had been sent regarding the inclusion of teams rather than just assuming their involvement, but your enthusiasm is great!).

IGCL 1: Let's do this thing! (Group Draw)

Postby Free South Califas » Tue Jul 10, 2012 12:25 pm

Sorry about that, Mytannion. I kinda just wanted to kick things off and establish momentum, establishing a clear status quo so that people can choose to join or not next time around. I guess I also assumed that active players who posted in this thread after the intention to make a champions' league had been announced, wanted to join that league; but I can see the flaw in my logic now.

So, we will have 44 teams from 11 leagues.

Here we go:
Qualifying Stage Draw

Each group drew a 1st place team, a 2nd place team, a 3rd place team and a 4th place team at random.
Teams from the same league were shuffled out of the same qualifying groups if they were drawn in together.

Solidarity Bowl
Nocksburg Razorbacks (ALS) 29–7 Glaciers (CRM)

Congratulations to the Razorbacks, the World Champions!

I will leave the rankings question open for a few hours to receive input from the community. All input will be highly valued and will have a high chance of influencing the rankings system. Thank you all for playing and good luck in IGCL2! If no one else takes the helm in the meantime and I am available, I will announce a cutoff sometime early in the next World Bowl process. Feel free to include a Solidarity Bowl host bid, but sponsorship bids will not be considered (at least, if I happen to run it).
