1772. The first year of domestic gridball in Vephrall, both at the college and professional levels.

We'll begin with the college season, on the grounds that it takes place slightly earlier than the NGL.

Collegiate Sporting Alliance gridball, 1772 season

Just as in association football, teams play (up to) fifteen games per season, the only scheduling requirement being that every team plays every team in its conference exactly once; non-conference games are totally unregulated except that a team can't play any opponent more than once.

The number in the "position" column indicates that team's record out of the 68 total teams.

East Coast Conference

Pos Team P W L PF PA PD Pts
1 Southeastern 15 15 0 525 78 447 30
9 Calamen 15 12 3 233 159 74 24
19 Rascenass 15 10 5 261 239 22 20
32 Defae 15 8 7 204 273 -69 16
34 Solonds 15 7 8 246 248 -2 14
37 North Salle 15 7 8 188 220 -32 14
38 Salle 15 7 8 182 215 -33 14
41 Calamen-Custles 15 6 9 211 245 -34 12
45 Calamen-Petaki 15 6 9 168 246 -78 12
50 Sheoron 15 5 10 184 279 -95 10
56 Till 15 4 11 186 301 -115 8
58 Salle Southern 15 4 11 150 288 -138 8

[float=left]Image[/float] And so it's a good showing for the Southeastern University Trojans, as they not only have a perfect 15-0 inaugural season, but they do it with an average score of 35-5. Talk about your stingy defenses.

Big West Conference

Pos Team P W L PF PA PD Pts
2 Seibeng 15 14 1 417 135 282 28
4 Anhenir 15 13 2 480 130 350 26
7 Highland 15 13 2 340 114 226 26
13 Virdys 15 11 4 300 185 115 22
16 Northern Darnai 15 11 4 238 196 42 22
29 Western Dettune 15 8 7 174 198 -24 16
42 South Sirinis 14 6 8 123 180 -57 12
49 Dettune 15 5 10 190 239 -49 10
53 Western Darnai 14 4 10 168 247 -79 8
54 Dettune Mtn 15 4 11 130 238 -108 8
59 Sirinis 15 4 11 114 261 -147 8
61 Sirinis Ag 15 4 11 113 332 -219 8

[float=left]Image[/float] Plenty of power in the Big West, but the University of Seibeng Acorns come out on top over Anhenir and Highland, though their only loss wasn't pretty, 26-7 to the Fighting Sortherners.

Midland Conference

Pos Team P W L PF PA PD Pts
3 Taeschand 15 14 1 366 98 268 28
5 Siellal 15 13 2 454 131 323 26
11 Riestre 15 11 4 312 166 146 22
21 Riestre Tech 15 10 5 182 208 -26 20
28 Military 15 8 7 151 150 1 16
30 Shentarong Tech 15 8 7 211 251 -40 16
35 North Shentarong 15 7 8 155 158 -3 14
57 NE Riestre 15 4 11 154 273 -119 8
66 Riestre State 15 2 13 138 322 -184 4
68 Westlake 15 1 14 129 397 -268 2

[float=left]Image[/float] No, they're not the Fitin' Falcons - note the two extra letters - but the University of Taeschand Harvesters showed an equally stingy defense, holding their opponents under a touchdown a game on average. Even in their lone loss to Virdys of the Big West, they held the Lions to just nine points (the problem was that they scored only a field goal themselves).

Southern Crescent Conference

Pos Team P W L PF PA PD Pts
6 Sumbobor 15 13 2 408 92 316 26
12 Shentarong Southern 15 11 4 295 153 142 22
15 Sumbobor State 15 11 4 239 155 84 22
17 Twin Cities 15 10 5 288 154 134 20
25 Shentarong State 15 8 7 241 205 36 16
27 Southwestern 15 8 7 200 170 30 16
40 Shentarong 15 6 9 177 196 -19 12
46 Fekliir State 15 6 9 165 325 -160 12
51 Darnai 15 5 10 155 269 -114 10
60 Astenast State 15 4 11 112 304 -192 8
63 Nenbondle 15 3 12 113 296 -183 6
65 East Point 15 2 13 113 292 -179 4

[float=left]Image[/float] Fans of the University of Sumbobor Elephants will surely be quick to say that the only reason they lost two games is because they play in the always-competitive SCC. They say this despite the fact that Vephrese gridball has absolutely no history to go by, not to mention one of their losses was to Siellal, who play in the Midland (and who, to be fair, also went 13-2). At any rate, they're the only team in the conference to escape with fewer than four losses.

Isthmian Conference

Pos Team P W L PF PA PD Pts
8 South Bektys 15 13 2 281 106 175 26
10 Isthmian 15 11 4 254 87 167 22
18 Bektys State 15 10 5 228 161 67 20
20 North Bektys 15 10 5 225 208 17 20
22 Fishbog 15 9 6 228 178 50 18
23 BTI 15 9 6 211 187 24 18
39 Eastern Darnai 15 7 8 182 229 -47 14
43 Western Shentarong 15 6 9 167 225 -58 12
47 Flaarickug 15 5 10 230 267 -37 10
52 Scusenany 15 4 11 218 270 -52 8
55 Bektys Coastal 15 4 11 115 225 -110 8
67 Riestre-Clyddly 15 1 14 123 276 -153 2

[float=left]Image[/float] Ah, the Isthmian Conference, where defense is king. It's the only conference where no team scored more than 290 points over the course of the season (in contrast, ECC champions Southeastern scored a whopping 525). The South Bektys University Entruuga eventually came out on top. What's an Entruuga, you ask? The Entruuga were one of the ancient tribes that lived in the southern portion of the state of Bektys before the modern Vephrese civilization arose. So there's your Vephrese history lesson for the day.

Lowland Conference

Pos Team P W L PF PA PD Pts
14 Jishmid 15 11 4 293 189 104 22
24 Bayside 15 9 6 181 190 -9 18
26 Dettune State 15 8 7 191 158 33 16
31 NW Sumbobor 15 8 7 178 229 -51 16
33 Chezlot 15 8 7 167 249 -82 16
36 Baseng 15 7 8 187 203 -16 14
44 Speilers 15 6 9 157 232 -75 12
48 Middle Bektys 15 5 10 219 257 -38 10
62 Sumbobor Tech 15 3 12 126 196 -70 6
64 Narrows 15 2 13 124 235 -111 4

[float=left]Image[/float] Okay, I'll be honest, the Lowland was pretty much a yawnfest. The Jishmid College Cougars won the title, but that doesn't necessarily even make them good.

So who wins the national title?

Southeastern does, by virtue of being the only undefeated team.

No, the CSA hasn't put together a proper postseason for the gridball tournament - why do you ask?

National Gridball League, 1772 season

Sorry, I don't really have much to say here. It's a new league with absolutely no history. Deal with it.

'09-'10 Season wraps up for Gridiron...
By Franz Dreyfus

Well, this last season of Fanboyist Gridiron has come and gone, and there were a lot of uninteresting, and a lot of interesting games, not to mention a few surprises.

Things started off in the preseason in June when the Nashville Wolverines signed Corinne Daniels as the league's first female quarterback, and she was quick to make history as the first female starting quarterback. More achievements would follow, but we'll get into those as we go.

Things heated up as the season began, and the regular play began. The leaders of each conference quickly developed, and the standings remained, unfortunately, relatively static at the top. In the AGC North, the St. Charles' Monitors and the Carnegie Ironmongers dominated another season, with the Leesville Generals giving them a run for their money at times. However, when it came to the playoffs, the Monitors and Ironmongers' old rivalry came back to the fore as they played in the regional final, with the Monitors coming out on top in a close and intense game that is sure to have fans talking for some time.

In the AGC South, though, the real fun took place, as the rankings hopped all over the place. The Crimson Tide, Rebels, Warriors and Wolverines all enjoyed strong starts, but as the season heated up, the Wolverines and Crimson Tide emerged as the front runners for the AGC South title. By the time the playoffs rolled around, Nashville and their "girly-girl" quarterback were in high gear, kicking ass and often not bothering to take names, as it would have been a waste of effort. Finally, the regional final boiled down to the Wolverines and a typically strong 'Tide, but it was the Tennessee boys and girls that came out at the top of the pile.

The AGC Conference Final was an amazing game, as both the Wolverines continued their streak and their determination to show that, in spite of being a solid, yet previously uninspired team, that they were ready to at last play in the real big leagues and the Monitors attempted to end their two year washout on Conference Championships. But in the end, the Monitor's dry spell for Week III's continued, as the Wolverines were able to claw their way to the top of the Americas.

In the OWGC West, things were much more interesting, as the rankings did not soldify until the last few weeks when the Oviedo Crusaders and the Rome Legion emerged as the frontrunners, with the Peoni giving a convincing showing in the playoffs, blowing out Rome in one of the worst defeats of any team all year. The Peoni, alas, fell to the Crusaders in one of the most boring games ever, in which the only reason that overtime did not occur was that the Crusaders managed to pull a safety off of Carthage, ending the game with a dissapointing 2-0 score.

The OWGC East was horrendously boring, as the Barrons went undefeated, even in the playoffs, as they shredded the competition every game. There were a few close calls, but not many. The Cataphracts managed to make a decent showing, but they fell, like everyone else.

But the Championship...oh, the Championship...

The Wolverines made their FNGL Championship debut, and the Barrons returned as the defending Champions from last year, looking to extend their long winning streak.

The game was rough, tough, and intense, with sacks, picks, and scores both ways, and with both teams gaining 300+ yards, but with most drives stopped at the last by strong defensive showings. The Federal Bowl went into overtime at the end of the fourth quarter with a 14-14 score. The Barrons scored first, putting them up 21-14, but then the Wolverines pushed an unstoppable drive, ending on a 36 yard pass by Corinne Daniels (QB #7, Wolverines) to Markus Hohenzorn (HB #22, Wolverines), bringing the score to 21-20. It looked as if another round of OT was in order.

But then Coach Lee Wilson called for a two point conversion, and Hohenzorn took the direct snap, and did what no one expected: instead of running with it, he passed it to the only open man: Daniels herself, who scored on the conversion, ending the game 22-21, the Wolverines first national championship.

2019 Season

To celebrate fifty years of professional gridiron football in the Fujisawan Territories, all thirty teams donned retro uniforms for the duration of the season, and the East Atlantis Seafarers used their original name, the Atlantis Tritons, for the season.

The Ukinaria Outlaws and the Kumanawa Doves remained the bottom feeders of the league, once again struggling to win games. Both finished 5-11 on the season, a slight improvement for the Outlaws, who went 1-15 just a season prior. Reigning Island Bowl champs, the Kaichi Fire were the hands down favorite to repeat, but they had a very tough schedule that cost them a playoff spot and caused them to finish the season a disappointing 7-9. The runners-up, the Nokuda Prowlers didn’t fare any better, and they finished the season 6-10. The surprising Tokuzawa Sea Turtles had an impressive 14-2 run, their record being the best in the league, while the next best record and the best record in the Territorial Conference belonged to the 13-3 Shotohama Pumas.

OSAGIF League to kick off this year

As we announced some time ago here on OSN.net, the ONAC has agreed a deal to found the first professional gridiron football league here in Osarius - the Osarian Gridiron Football League. All matches will be covered by OSN on our newest channel OSN-G, which will have an individual subscription fee for those of you who are not interested in the full OSN package!

OSN-G will launch next week with live coverage of the inaugural OSAGIF League draft. The sixteen teams in the league will be brand new franchises. Their amatuer equivalents will be dissolved, and the league will start anew. It is likely that players such as Leon Saint (formerly of Utica University Alumni) and teammate Kenny Hollis will be early draft picks, due to their successes with the national side. However, there are still many talented players emerging from the collegiate league who may be picked up early.

The sixteen teams will be split into two divisions, each with two conferences, as follows:

OSAGIF North

North East
Kart Hago Lions
Utica Bears
Hearthlands Fire
Turic Titans

North West
Dynapolis Dragons
Hollybrent Hawks
Chestmana Chiefs
Callisto Colts

OSAGIF South

South East
Burningham Bulls
Greeningham Giants
Firewood Phoenix
Kronkow Kings

South West
Junipa Jaguars
Yurendam Warriors
Schlossberg Saints
Renneville Raiders

The league will function with a fifteen week regular season, with each team playing fourteen games and having one bye week. These 14 games will be broken down as follows:

Twice against everyone in your conference, both at home and away
Once against each of the other teams in your division (two home, two away)
Two home games against teams from the other division
Two away games against teams from the other division

At the end of the regular season, conference champions will be crowned, and progress to the playoffs with the highest ranked non champion in each division. The highest ranked team in each division gets a bye, while the other two teams playoff for the right to play against them in the divisional championship.

The two divisional championship winners then face off in the Osarius Bowl, to determine the OSAGIF League champions.

Remember, you can find all the best coverage and news on the OSAGIF League on OSN.net/OSAGIF or on OSN-G, which launches next week on draft day!

OCGL changes format

The national collegiate gridiron championships, the OCGL - Osarian Collegiate Gridiron League - have announced a change of format for the new season, which kicks off next week. Instead of a two-tiered league of eighteen teams per division, the league will be merged into one tier and split into six regions. The regional champions and the six best overall ranked teams not to finish as regional champions progress to the OCGL playoffs. The playoff winners are then crowned the national collegiate champions. The regions will be Dynapolitan, Mount Crown, Barciddian, Elishati, Borderlands, and Outlands.

More news on these developments will come as we get them!

Remember, OCGL football is now moving to OSN-G. Make sure to get your subscription before the season kicks off in six weeks.

Because of Arkinesia's unusual sporting schedule, our gridiron football season starts late. The game that everyone watched on the edge of their seats last Saturday was the University of Pennington Bulldogs heading to Kotaharapan to play their rivals, the University of Arkinesia Wyverns. The Wyverns got away to a quick 14-0 lead before the Bulldogs clawed back in the second quarter. At halftime, the Bulldogs were down, but not out, 17-14.

The Dawgs received the second half kickoff and tried to move down the field quickly. Although they were unsuccessful in that effort, they managed a touchdown via a 2-yard screen pass reception by fullback Brian Walker, and led 21-17. On the ensuing kickoff, Wyverns returner Daniel Morrison ran 106 yards from his own end zone to score a touchdown. The Wyverns converted the extra point and led 24-21. The Dawgs came back, but stalled on the 46-yard line. The field goal unit came out to attempt a field goal. Somehow, kicker Michael Walsh managed to squeak in his kick by the hair of his chinny-chin-chin, and the Dawgs brought the game to a tie, 24-24, with 3 minutes to play. The Wyverns tried their darndest to get back and score, but time was against them. At their own 48, the Wyverns took a knee and forced overtime. Fans all over the country were in shock at how close the game had stayed throughout.

The Wyverns won the toss and chose to defend. The Dawgs scored a touchdown on the first play of the period, and converted the extra point, to make it 31-24. The Wyverns scored in six plays, and tied up the game. In the second period, the Dawgs took a bit more time, but still managed a touchdown. They added the extra point and made the score 38-31. On fourth and goal at the six yard line, Wyverns tailback Jevon Williams fumbled at the four, but it was recovered by left tackle Gregory Hartline, who somehow managed to drag his 6' 5", 344 pound frame across the goal line. The Wyverns pinned an extra point. 38-38 was the score at the end of PAT kicking periods. The Dawgs managed to score another touchdown, but failed to convert for two points. The score was made 44-38, and now the Dawgs had to clamp down. The Wyverns scored a touchdown off of an option play on the second play of the drive, making the score 44-44. All they needed was to put up two points, and the game was over. Quarterback Dale Potts, a freshman backup who had to come in due to the loss of starter Adam Owens, avoided being sacked twice, threw the ball into the end zone, and it landed in the hands of Jairus Winchester for a game-winning two-point conversion. The preseason #1 Wyverns went on to win thanks to that, 46-44. More in ACAA football next Sunday.

Season Highlights:

Joe Anderson (QB#22, Chargers) - Anderson was even more fun to watch this year than last year; in his 'sophomore' season, Anderson passed for 8567 yards and 78 touchdowns, as well as rushing for 18 more touchdowns and another 765 yards. But more than that, the number of pancakes he recorded (often tossing defensive players around the pocket like rag dolls), was more than any other quarterback in Fanboyist history (24, as opposed to Theo Rickenbacher's 21, as opposed to none).

The Auremenian Football League (AFL) is entering its 10th season in 2010, currently consisting of the following teams:

Auremenian Football Conference (AFC):

North Division:
Tsheremevko Falcons
Zosilizme Pijke Broncos
Libreville Patriots

South Division:
Glasrige Chargers
Brempton Yellow Jackets
Thornton Racers

East Division:
Monterey Oceanics
Champange Cardinals
Port Nouveaux Giants

West Division:
Pern Hawks
Uran Miners
Zastmereiv Jets

National Football Conference (NFC):

North Division:
Port Nouveaux Sailors
Kazan Eagles

South Division:
Paddington Orioles
Libreville Militia
London Raiders

East Division:
Thornton Bears
Chardonnay Blue Jays
Pont Noir Ranchers

West Division:
Kzyrvt Ravens
Tsheremevko Pirates
Lanvyg Vikings

Each team plays 14 games, two against each team in their Division, seven against teams in their conference, and three out of conference games. the top team from each division, plus the best team in each conference who is not the best in their division, go to the playoffs. the playoffs work like this: every team in will play each team in their conference once. Then, the teams with the two best records in their conference from those four games play each other. The winner of that game will play the winner from the other conference, and the winner of that game is the champion.

Summary

The season kicked off with pomp and celebration, as always, with a game that more-or-less set the tone for the rest of the season, one that both denied and fulfilled expectations.

That first game, of course, was the one that would ultimately shape the playoffs in a big way, opening the door for a perennial playoff power to miss them for the first time in years:

The fledgeling Northwatch Mustangs knocked off the titanic Barons, 20-9, behind their under-age QB, PJ Faulke, who would take the 'Stangs on a standing-shaking ride into the playoffs as the season went on.

Other highlights included rare undefeated regular season showings by the standout Crimson Tide and Ironmongers as well as the new Gears franchise. The season also featured a new conference, the Territorial Conference.

However, things were also shaken up by the long-suffering Huskies, who had been shafted repeatedly by the older, more established Barons in the past, and who managed to score a rare win over their city rivals, led by QB Dane Zacks.

[OOC] Online score generators?

Postby Quattrablegia » Tue Apr 06, 2010 1:35 pm

I am wanting to use an online score generator to create realistic results for my national sports leagues (particularly gridiron). I do not presently have my own internet access, so I can't download anything. Google wasn't very helpful. Any suggestions?

Thanks
