Qazox' CoH48 Bid

Qazox has been one of the most active sporting nations in NS and have been so for over 100 IC years (over 6 years in RL) and would like to host their first Cup of Harmony. Qazox has previously attempted to co-host the 55th World Cup (w/ ASMV); and has previously attempted to host both the 38th, 41st and 43rd Baptisms of Fire.

Past Hosting Duties: Qazox has hosted World Baseball Classics 1, 4, 5, 10 and 13; World Cup of Hockey 7 and 14; World Bowls IV & IX; Baptism of Iron III and 8, NSCAA II and 2 conferences within NSCAA III and 13 editions of The OXEN Cup, a independent football tourney and numerous other events.

SCORINATION SYSTEM: Qazox will utilize the latest editon of Xkoranate to scorinate the event. The user behind this nation has used xkoranate to host both the 14th World Cup of Hockey and the 8th Baptism of Iron, along with a couple of other events within this past calendar year and has become very familiar with the scorinator to be used. Style modifiers of -5 to +5 will be utilized. A Degrading RP bonus. (ie: 1.00 for the first MD, which will be reduced to .50 for the 2nd, .25 for the third 0 for the 4th and subsequent MD's) will be used. All roster posts will be given a one time non-degrading bonus as well.

Why choose Qazox as a host?: The user behind Qazox, as mentioned earlier, has hosted over THIRTY varied international sporting events. As such, Qazox is the most experienced host amongst the bidding nations. Qazox has experience hosting events with large numbers of nations and has the ability to host this event.

Group Format:
Following past precedent, Qazox will invite nations that had at a mininum: posted a roster and post 2 substanial RP's. No: We won 2-0! yay! RP's would be counted. At a mininum, 32 teams are expected to be invited, with provisions for 35, 36, 40, 42, 44, 45, 48, 49, 50 and 52 nations. Groups will be made with consideration towards rank and an even number of games for all teams involved. The highest ranked teams invited will be seeded into their groups, and the remaining nations will be randomly drawn to complete said groups. The total number of seeded teams and groups will be made after a determination of each nation accepting an invitation to compete and a review of eligibility of each nation.

Playoff format:
16 teams will advance to the knockout rounds, seeded first by record and second their finish within their group. A team winning their group with a lesser record than a 2nd placed team will be seeded lower.
Example: Nation Alpha finished second in group 1 with a 5-0-1 record (15 pts)
Nation Delta finished first in group 2 with a 4-2-1 record (14 pts)
Nation Alpha would be seeded above Nation Delta.

Why do you think a degrading RP bonus is better, when most tournaments don't make use of it?

One of things I like most about your bid is that you are not buying in to this apparent new-age CoH thinking of capping the tournament at 32, or any other fixed number, and you are flexible.

I do agree with Virabia that I am not a fan of degrading RP bonus for this tournament, especially not at the level proposed here.

Why have you decided to bid solo, rather than getting in a co-host for a conventional two-nation bid?

You really have to ask that question? I know that at this point almost none of the top rated hosters would build a bid with Qazox for historical reasons. Most newer nations would not for the reason that they actually want to win a host bid.

All that said, Qazox has made some stridess in the right direction. And while I don not care for the single-host factor, This bid is more to my liking than its current competition.

Teams shouldn't be rewarded late in the tourney for one great RP on MD1 and no RPing for the remainder of the event. Under this format, the max RP bonus would be 1.75 per day after Day 3, and consistently RPing will keep it there (if a team is awarded the max each day), making teams actually RP to earn the bonus. It is my belief that this will encourage nations to RP intead of relying on rank.

I'm just more comfortable hosting solo, than with others; though I did co-host parts of NSCAA 3; and it provides more consistancy in RP bonus, as two co-hosts would likely have very different opinions of what determines a "quality RP".

Actually I think it does the complete opposite and is tailor-made for coasting on rank. The max possible is 1.75 per day? This is better then a cumulative system for valuing RP? I don't get it.

If they (higher ranked teams) don't RP it won't matter.
