World Baseball Classic Umpire List

I thought I would add to the WBC roleplaying and create this, a list of WBC Umpires, by Nation, that WBC Hosts and Participants can choose to use in future tournaments or in any Baseball Tournament here on NS Sports.

I feel that we are missing a crucial part of the game by leaving the umpires faceless and nameless. Just on Monday, at the AAA-level game, an Isotope player could have had an inside-the-park home run had he and the 3B Umpire not collided as the runner was rounding third! Umpires are a part of the game and should be incorporated into our tournament experience.

I would ask that only those nations who have competed in a WBC tournament post umpires.

Comments: Having the job at first base can be a little tiresome for most umpires, but Dominic has taken it in stride, barely ever losing his cool if a manager comes out to argue a bad call. A student of the rules, he calls everything as he sees them and is quick to point them out during a debate with the managers or a meeting of the umpires.

If the batter or manager gets into his face about a missed call, he is not afraid to yell back and cause quite the commotion. For the past six seasons he has exclusivley been a home-plate umpire. Prior to that, he was a first-base or third-base umpire for ten seasons.
Comments: Wilson has been umpiring many of Churchma's home games for the past three World Baseball Classics. Even though he hasn't officially received recognition for it, he has "been there, and done that" many times before.

Musgrove tends to have a longer fuse than most umpires. He'll let a player or a coach vent to an extent, but when he says "coach, that's enough," it's his code for saying that he's reached his limit. If you argue beyond that, he will eject you. When he works the plate, he's a pitcher's umpire, giving the low strike and the high strike, but you have to throw it across the plate.

Comments: Palakanumatai is the MVBL's longest tenured ump, and with good reason: after 15 years of service, he has never had a call overturned by instant replay. This could be called spot-on and miraculous, but it's due to his deliberation on each call. Often taking 5 seconds or more to make even safe or out calls, Palakanumatai takes care in each situation. Early in his career, his style was often derided as being too deliberate, but his precise manner has gained him many fans and imitators.

Comments: Williams tends to be rather stringent on the strike zone. Batters are favored with his calls, but they can also be screwed over sometimes. He never has favorites, and does his best to remain impartial at all times. He will allow coaches to argue, but if they go too far, they get the boot.
