Okay, Aguazuleños should not be put in charge of producing promotional anthems, but that's no matter. Welcome to the fifty-fifth World Cup! Feel free to begin posting your roleplays here.

After a return to the World Cup after a 12 year absence, Qazox was emboldened enough to attempt to co-host the World Cup with Andossa Se Mitrin Vega. While the Qazox-AMSV bid was sound, it wasn't impressive enough to sway voters from the Delaclava-Aguazul bid, which featured the defending World Cup Champions, Aguazul; a team that so happened to whip Qazox 7-0 during the Cup itself 2 years ago.

In the last 2 years, the Qazox national team has undergone a few changes. The Calvin Twins (Nate and Tanya) retired, as did Sean Eason and Greg Johnson. But Qazox returns 7 players from the Cup run 2 years ago, and has one of the most experienced teams in the Cup. The majority of this roster has played together for 12 years, and that experience could be all the difference.

Joining the team are 6 good U-21 players, and expect Coach Holtz to utilize the bench a bit more. Jaqueline Robinson, Mark Allenby, Derek Ranger, Rene Martin, Dwight Lynn and Lynn Babbage will join the team, and hopefully be the core for Qazox over the next 2 or 3 cups.

While the qualifying draw is still over a week away, Qazox expects to be a 2nd or 3rd seeded team in their group and hopefully the draw will be favorable.

World Cup 55; A preview for Erathore

World Cup 55 in Aguazul and Delaclava. The second World Cup for Erathore. The second one that they would make an impact in. The last World Cup saw Erathore go up against the best team in the world. And the 15th, 17th, and 20th best teams in the World. Erathore advanced from the group stages to the Interzonals, where they barley missed qualification for the World Cup proper. In the Cup of Harmony, Erathore continued their rampage. Making it all the way to the semi-finals where they lost heartbreakingly in penalties. In the Third Place Playoff, they lost 1-nil to Tretskivucia. And yet some good came out of that World Cup run. Several players were invited to play abroad and several accepted those invitations. And more importantly, the Erathore National Team was ranked at #71 in the world. Still 70 places off of where they want to be, but a successful World Cup run could definitely help them reach that goal. The squad is much the same as it was last year, but with some major changes. We'll go over the positional changes first.

Roberto Bennedetto is taking over in goal from Galigilygano as the later is still recovering from a major injury sustained in the Cup of Harmony. FC Mildrid's Barino Dino, winner of the 2011 Defender of the Year Award, has taken over the role of Central Defender from Mariano Alberico in a move that no one is really surprised about. Defensive Midfielder legend Blake Fedele has announced that this is going to be his last international season before his retirement. He hasn't stated what he will do after his retirement, but we're willing to put our money on him becoming a manager somewhere. In the midfield, Antonio Casento has taken over Illio Narizzidad's role as a substitute Attacking Midfielder. It's in the forwards section of the roster where the most dramatic changes can be noticed. Michelangelo De Mericci finds himself as a sub/reserve thanks to his tremendous dive in the international football scene. His domestic game is going strong as he recently won the Golden Boot in the FSSO league, but his international ball has turned to complete junk. Lucifer Andrea, the very talented striker from Vincanto is replacing him in a move that is welcomed by all. Andrea is an all-around skillful player, rather then just being a strong shooter or whatnot. Also making an appearance is (another) FC Mildrid star, the 18 year old Francesc Celestino Sergio. The young gun had a wonderful debut season, taking part in the first domestic treble win in Erathi footballing history. He is expected to earn a few caps in this World Cup, as well as a goal or two.

Now we move onto some other stuff. Mainly talking about the star of Erathi football and the star of the National Team. Alexio Del Nieran. The 21 year old Attacking Midfielder who has accomplished quite a lot in the past 2 years. He transferred from EMI FC to FC Mildrid for one of the biggest transfer fees ever in Erathore. He won the Copa Del Era and a Seria-A title with FC Mildrid during that season. He then went on a short, single season loan to Krytenian club Avidia United, where he played in Liga Calania. Liga Calania is made up of clubs from Krytenia, Starblaydia, and Jesselton. During his single season tenure with the club, Nieran lead the team to 105 league points, a record setter in Liga Calania. Along the way he nabbed 32 goals and assisted for 20 more, making himself involved in 52 of the 90 goals scored by Avidia United. Nieran's loan lasted throughout the 30th TalkiQuip Champions' Cup, where Avidia United finished last in its group. We will look at Nieran, Erathore's most capped player and highest goalscorer, to lead the team with his creative footwork, impressive shots, and godly free kicks towards a qualification in this World Cup.

MEGUROKO AT WC55
The Meguroko Dynamite national soccer club practised 1 more time before they went overseas to play international opponents. A tour of Meguroko was done, with the Dynamite playing Snowhill FC. The Dynamite won 2-1. Let's look at Meguroko in the last world cup. The bright spot was a victory on the 1st day. Voko Pak, playing on Juvilliane Martinax, a club in Erathore, came through to win for Meguroko. After that, well... This WC should be more promising for the Dynamite. The Final Cut, a game between the Dynamite teams, was played before final cuts were made. These players made the team

Most of the team look new, except for Tomma Sonsa, a Defender from Botros United, a very succesful club. Manager Lars Verknervossen returns for his 2nd World Cup and 5th International Tournament. Lars lead this team to 2 in the Commonwealth Cup 3, and to victory at home in CC4. After the CC4 victory, Lars was awarded Meguroko Sportsperson of the Year. Padro Longueill, a last-minute addition to the CC4 team, also proved himself and was named MPSL Player of Year. Interviewers traked Lars down and questioned him on the WC55. "I think we have a good team, but it'll all depend on who we play. If we play pretty good teams, we won't win." Padro was up and excited, saying " We now have a lot of experiance, ya know, but, its all your opponents in the Qualifier." Watch for more updates as the team heads towards Day 1.

A bell rang as the Apothecary' door had been pushed open... dust and bits of newspaper blew in from outside, and three supicious men stepped inside. Feliks Buharin, Âkov Karpov and Vasilʹevič Belinskij were their names, the Apothecary recognized their faces from the murky daguerreotypes of the Ledger. The Apothecary, an Asian man with a long white beard, stood to attention at his counter, while the three burly football players approached him. Feliks led the pack over to the counter, Âkov and Vasilʹevič both held back and shared expressions of concern and confusion.

Feliks smiled, "Hi, we're looking for eh...", Feliks mumbled to the Apothecary, ".. some opium."

The wise man chuckled, "We have none of that material, this is a place of well-being."

Âkov Karpov snickered and pointed to his face, "Remember me? 馮鋭殊!?"

The man muttered, "我听不懂...", and looked away nervously.

Âkov Karpov looked over to Feliks and smirked, he asked sarcastically to him, "What did he say?"

Feliks snickered and replied to Karpov's question in shoddy Mandarin, "wŏ tīngbùdŏng,".

Karpov turned around to Belinskij and motioned his head towards the old man, Belinskij nodded and as the bludging mass of meat that he was, approached the frighted old man and pull him over the counter with ease. The old man, Féng-Ruì Shū, had his eyes bulged as Belinskij pulled him towards his snarling face.

Âkov Karpov whispered into Shū's ears, "Let me tell you something, Féng-Ruì Shū. When you let me into your little opium den, I wasn't a Bobby... I was on suspension. But I'm back on the force -- and I could report you at any minute, have your little dens and your shop shut down and you incarnated.. how does that sound?"

Feliks whispered into Shū's ear, "You manage and run at least three dens that we know of, but we can't find our friend in any of them... we're looking for Lazarʹ Semënov."

Féng-Ruì Shū took at deep breath, utterly defeated, he mumbled, "Mister Semënov, very good customer. We give very good customers special treatment in 'exclusive' den," Shū pointed to the shelf full of medicine jars that stood against the far wall.

Âkov nodded and walked over the shelf, sniffing the wall to smell for opium. He tried to pry away the shelf from the wall and in the process, swung the revolving door so hard that medicine jars flew off the hidden door and revealed an entrance through the wall. Âkov gestured his head towards the entrance and Belinskij took that as his cue to gently lower the old man back to his side of the counter.

The three footballers walked through the entrance and found themselves in a dimly lit parlor, an octagonal room with a rustic appeal. Among the den's customers were some of the wealthiest and most powerful in Marius, Unibot. Âkov recognized the Metropolitan Police Commissioner, a morose man who sat on a bed of pillows breathing in a 'pill' of opium from a long pipe and glass-blown lamp. Whereas, Buharin recognized other patrons as high members of the Clergy, Heir Industries, Inc. Board of Directors and the Judiciary. The den was a seething underbelly of political corruption and debauchery, that a hired entourage of high-class escorts would navigate to attend to the den's patron's every 'need'. Belinskij noted that their presence in their den was meant with a nearly immunological resistance, as if a foreign strain entered the system without approval -- the footballers knew that from the gazes and the stares directed their way that they did not 'belong' in here. Belinskij tugged Buharin's sleeve and pointed to one of the patrons in the far corner, it took a second for Feliks to recognize the crooked nose of the patron as belonging to their long-lost striker, Lazarʹ Semënov. The footballer was nearly unrecognizable, he sat on a bed of pillows with an escort snuggled up against him, his face was hallow, bearded and stricken with jaundice, his hair, uncut and shocked with silver. The waxy, yellow skeleton was sleeping peacefully like a corpse, tentacles of smoke blowing from his nostrils.

Âkov kicked the bed of pillows, "Lazar, wake up!", the escort screamed and fell out of the bed, but from Lazar' there was no response, "LAZAR, WAKE UP!"

Âkov and Feliks reciprocated their wary glances as Belinskij grabbed the sleeping footballer and shook him violently, Semënov coughed and opened his eyelids slowly to reveal two reddish eyeballs that were dilated to an odd dimension.

Lazarʹ protested, "put me down... put me down...," and Belinskij complied and laid the skeleton back down on his pillows.

Feliks bent down and sat on his knees to address Lazar' at eye-level, "Lazar, we've come to ask you about participating on the team again. We know you haven't played with the Marauders for the last couple of seasons... but the guys want you back on the team.. we want you back on the team -- you're our star player."

Lazar' grumbled, "Of course you want me. I'm a shining star of cold alabaster, my veins pump motor oil and my feet run circles around Jupiter with the wings of Mercury. I'm Lazar' Semënov, the greatest thing that God ever begot. Now get the fuck out of my dwelling. I quit football because I couldn't be who I wanted to be, I had to pretend that I was some sissy, political correct statue with a chiseled face... but besides my good looks, it's a lie, it was always lie."

Feliks nodded, "We thought you might ramble about something along those lines... Vasilʹevič .."

Vasilʹevič nodded and diligently picked up Lazar' off the pillow, despite Semënov's best attempts to free himself from the beast's grip. Vasilʹevič swung the resisting skeleton over his shoulder and followed the other two footballers out of the den. They had a World Cup to attend.

Imaneta Acca was always intensely focused during practice. Commitment and hard work was what had gotten him so far in his young, budding career. Captain of the Civil Citizenry national team. Second-most international goals in team history. Captain of the NS Sports Young Guns team. Goals against the defenses of The Archregimancy and Sorthern Northland. All at the age of twenty-two. It wasn't talent that had gotten him this far, nor will it take him any farther.

Yes, Imaneta Acca always kept his focus, even through the most nitpicky, boring, sluggish practices. Except for today, as the national team went through a simple, lazy drill of shooting on backup goalie Hellgmao Bobjik. He thought about the importance of the Young Guns' friendlies against the top teams in the world - and how much more critical every game from here on out would be.

The team was training in a practice complex across the road from the Grand Soccer Stadium. It was a fairly luxurious arena; nothing to boast about architecturally, but still a comfortable place for a team to play its home games. The GSS certainly could not compare to the stadia he had visited in countries like Aguazul and Valanora, The Babbage Islands and The Holy Empire - all of which are members of the top five association football nations in the world. They were fancier than fancy, more vibrant and creative and stylish and awe-inspiring than anything he had ever imagined. The national stadium here in Civil Citizenry seemed paltry in comparison.

Yet somehow, ten games would be contested in that very stadium that would mean more to him and his country than anything he had ever played before. It wasn't his first World Cup; he was part of the team that was unable to make it past the first stage of qualifying in the 54th World Cup. But with an entire WC cycle under its belt, the Civil Citizenry national team had risen to number one hundred and thirty-nine in the world rankings - nowhere near close enough to reach the WC proper in the near future, but still pretty damn good for a country that had never taken a great interest in football.

For the first time, though, Civil Citizenry had been quaking with excitement at the upcoming World Cup. The hopes and dreams of an expectant, eager nation were riding on the young captain. And Imaneta Acca, for all his devotion to the game and loyalty to his home country, couldn't understand why his fans would be more pleased at beating some no-name nation from across the multiverse than defeating the top two nations in all of NationStates.

For a fan, it makes perfect sense to care more about qualifying for the World Cup, the most prestigious sporting event in history, than some coalition of players from nations he/she has never heard of in his/her life. Acca felt differently about it. They haven't been to Aguazul or Valanora, he reasoned; they haven't soaked in such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The atmospheres of Civil Citizenry and Aguazul were dissimilar in every way. It was just... he couldn't articulate in his mind what he felt in his heart. He decided he could liken it to playing a string instrument: there is some internal feeling you get when you play an emotional piece with force and vigor that you just can't comprehend when listening to the same song.

This was what he grappled with in his mind. This was what distracted Imaneta Acca from his daily routines today. He sighed. No one understands me. Another absent-minded kick, another soccer ball that defied gravity in sailing upwards into the top left corner of the net. Bam. Acca's mind continued to wander. He could see it now: after extra time, a penalty kick just like that one that would vault Civil Citizenry into the World Cup proper for the very first time. His motivation was back. Training was his only hope for continuing the success he had found thus far as a soccer player. A few gears shifted in his head, and he was right back into that incomprehensible state of intense focus and homeostasis, a staple of his training sessions.

A pudgy man holding a can of beer, sitting several rows up from the field, viewing the Civil Citizenry national soccer team's training session, remarked to his companion, "Does Acca ever lose his fucking concentration?"

CAN YOU DRIVE (FOR) 55?

Pocono City- It’s that time of year now where we take our minds off of baseball (though we do wish we could think about it for a while longer) and onto the football pitch for what is the most difficult title to win in all of sports. This year’s Cup will move away from One Big Island, where it was hosted extremely well by our friends from The Babbage Islands and Cassadaigua, and on to a more traditional spot: Atlantian Oceania with one co-host, Delaclava; and to a more obscure region, Shell Shock Troop Clan (Aguazul). That latter region is much more unknown to us, but is now a very desirable destination for approximately 170 nations. Aguazul, of course, would love to defend their title, something which was last done by Cassadaigua not too long ago. Neither of these nations have hosted the World Cup before, but their experience in other competitions more then makes up for it. In fact, we sent an intern out on the streets of Pocono City to ask a group of 50 random people if Delaclava had hosted a World Cup before. 23 people answered “yes”. That just goes to show the immense experience that Delaclava has had in hosting, and quite frankly, their getting the World Cup was well overdue. Newmanistan doesn’t have much experience with Aguazul in the world of sports, but you’ll find a lot of respect for them, even if they didn’t win the last Cup.

That’s the setting for this World Cup. For those of you who added the words, “Zonal phase” and “interzonal phase” to your sporting vocabulary two years ago, you can scratch them from your mental dictionary, at least for this Cup. We’re going back to a more traditional setting this time, which has some applauding and others wishing for a return to the last Cup. A poll run by The Centralia Courier earlier in the week showed that 56% of Newmanistanians wishing that it would be a two-phased qualifying stage again, while 38% were happy to see the return to the traditional method. The other 6% replied “not sure/no preference”. In addition, Emperor Michael IV announced that we will see a return to the old-style stadium rotation used for qualifying games. In other words, a different city will host each home game as opposed to everything being at the Tundra Falls Proving Grounds last year. It was rumored that the Emperor did that two years ago to get back in the good graces of the all-powerful Spirits of Tundra Falls, and he seems to believe that he has done so. Though there are doubters that will point to results of the NSCAA Tournament, which saw it’s final four played at the Proving Grounds. The two Pocono City-based schools that were in the tournament were strangely upset in the first round, and in countries that bid to host the World Cup. Pock City Tech lost in Qazox, but the big eye-opener being #1 seeded Emperor Justin I University losing IN Delaclava on the EXACT DAY that Delaclava (and Aguazul) were officially named the co-hosts of World Cup 55. Conspiracy theorists therefore feel this was too coincidental to have been scripted and feel that the Spirits were sending a message to the Emperor. His Highness has so far disregarded that as a coincidence and firmly believes that he still has the blessings to keep the Rockets in the competition. Conspiracy theorists disagree and think the Spirits only gave their blessing for the last Cup because it was held within One Big Island.

As we look at the Rockets roster, we see much the same people with 10 of the 11 starters returning for this Cup, as well as the entire coaching staff. This is not a surprise given that the Rockets fielded a young team last year that came together very impressively on en route to the improbable qualification for the World Cup Proper. That’s going to make the expectations on this year’s squad much higher, but they seem to welcoming the challenge. The only change in the starting lineup is due to a tactical change as manager Steve Tremblay will be employing a 4-3-3 base formation instead of a 4-4-2. This is twofold: the first being the international retirement of Wayne Leffler, and the second being the continued progression of 20-year old Edward Robertson. Instead of replacing Leffler with another midfielder and keeping Robertson as a substitute, Tremblay has simply changed the formation. This is nothing new for Newmanistan, in general, who have played with a 4-3-3 on many different occasions in the past.

The group draw is expected in a few days, and then we’ll have a period of friendlies, which are still being ironed out right now. An impressive lineup of opponents could be in the works that will do well to get and keep this team in prime condition and form. We’ll announce the Rockets schedule, and home stadium assignments in our next report, as well as providing an interview with manager Tremblay.

Jeru FC coach Allison Salamida of Cassadaigua with her assistant coach Mango Mousse

Allison: Say, where'd they get this lot?
Mango: Same place I came from
Allison: I don't see the last lot having this problem with respect for authority
Mango: Well, it seems they stopped getting drunks and womanisers for the team.
Allison: I guess that's good in one way but ... talk about bad attitudes
Mango: Don't worry, we'll whip them into shape.
Allison: Sometimes we do need whips out there just keep them in order
Mango: Not to worry, threaten their beer supply. That always works.
Allison: Well, whatever works.
Mango: Not to worry, we have support of the Jeruselem FA.
Allison: I heard you're a man around town.
Mango: Yes, I'm the real deal.
Allison: I heard you've got two kids officially.
Mango: Well, ask Princess Shay and my wife Peppers.
Allison: Peppers?
Mango: Sharnee Bellpepper
Allison: Oh that dumb girl who sometimes turns up
Mango: That's her.
Allison: I guess she's not a bad one to pick up
Mango: I could do far worse.
Allison: It's interesting Jeruselem could have woman as it's next leader.
Mango: We've had female leaders before
Allison: It's a good I think
Mango: You come from a place where women are dominant force in society
Allison: I guess so Mango
Mango: Not used to this place yet
Allison: You've got some strong women around here. I can't complain.
Mango: Well, it's paradoxial society we have.
Allison: It's all about family around here. I like that. As a female, family as all important.
Mango: I like making more family.
Allison: None of that please.

Kat Kool and retired World Cup player Princess Helena Troi Dallas

Kat: So what you think of your little girl in the team?
Helena: Well, it was expected.
Kat: She's only there because your mother runs football here.
Helena: Oh come on, you need someone like her in the team.
Kat: She's a bit troublesome to manage, like yourself.
Helena: She does it because she loves football
Kat: I heard you're working in improving army food
Helena: Well, some of the crud they call food ...
Kat: But surely there's a good reason why is that way
Helena: Doesn't bloody mean they have to do nothing about the problem
Kat: The military are bit slow an embrace change
Helena: No problems getting the newest killing device but the culture don't change much
Kat: What about respect for women and stuff like that?
Helena: I guess they know they can't treat women like trash these days.
Kat: Well, but not many women join the armed forces.
Helena: Not true, the women love the airforce but no much the army or navy
Kat: Why is that?
Helena: Because they think the Navy is full of gays and the army full of male chauvinists.
Kat: But that's not true
Helena: I know but hey, things change slowly around here.
Kat: SO how is the project going?
Helena: Hard work, considering the budgets you have to work with.
Kat: Really?
Helena: Spend all that money on fancy weapons but can't afford to give troops proper food.
Kat: So is that why they rape, loot and steal?
Helena: Well, that's something else.
Kat: What about beer?
Helena: That's the thing, they spend more on beer than food.
Kat: Really?
Helena; Figure that out.

National Soccer team Takes on World Cup 55

The National Soccer Team of the Commonwealth of -Bederich- is participating in its first ever World Cup. The team has been preparing for this for quite some time, and is joping for atleast some winning. Although they will be competing against the best of the best in the world, their coach Andrew Dasgoffin, has said, "We still have quite a good chance, and we are well prepared." This seams somewhat of a correct statement becuase the national soccer teams forward Nathan Diraclatcha is expected to do very well, and score one goal on the opposing teams goalie. Now though, practicing is over for the team, and hopefully they won't be seeing their home field in Dalibor for some time, but will be hopefully winning the world cup.

Other stong points of the team include their defence, comprised of Johnathon Moldov, Steven Severni, and Corey Haslling, and their goalie Christopher Sartero who is considered the most skilled goalie in the region by many. Although the teams weak point, as many soccer experts from the Commonwealth of -Bederich- have pointed out, is the midfielders, who are not as skilled as coach Andrew Dasgoffin. Alhough national hope in the team is still strong, and many prefer to look at the pros of the team and not the cons.

THE DAILY KERNANSQUILLECAN
Proud sponsor of the Kernansquillecan Football Team: Win it for us lads!

A LOOK AHEAD TO THE WORLD CUP

So while the Kers haven't even finished the Baptism of Fire where they are now in the semi-finals the World Cup warm-up games and qualifiers are only a few days away. Team manager Dean Harold has yet to name his squad thought he is widly expected to name an identical team to the one which is currantly at the Baptism of Fire. The main question being asked is who will replace the ingured Wagbo Harold who will be out for the whole of qualifing, possibly being ready for the actual World Cup if the Green and Whites manage to qualify. The main competition for this spot in the 23 man squad is coming from two U21 players, 18 year old Sean Iqbal and 19 year old Rory Roseby. But both could feature after Jaques Le Grand's poor run so far in the competition.

But in today's edition we'll be having a look at some of the stars who are most likely to feature in the starting XI during this World Cup.

First of all we'll start at the back with goalkeeper Stuart Henderson. At the age of 34 the goaly isn't ready to give up his first team spot as he has shown us during the Baptism of Fire. Even last night where he rightfully picked up the man of the match award by keeping his team in their quarter final game before saving two penalties to allow his team to get into the semi-finals. So far in the Baptism of Fire his team have only conceaded 5 goals in 7 games.

Now Captain and Center-Back Gary Connor. He has been ever present in the Kernansquillecan team since their first ever international against Great- Britain to last night's game againsr where despite missing his penalty kick he kept his side in the game with crusial tackles and even more importantly a goal saving header on the line. He was also part of the Young Guns squad for their game in respect of the commendation of Commerce Heights by the Security Counsil. He was also part of their team for their tour but has yet to play for them.

The Kernansquillecan midfield and attack is full of talent, with players like Lilac, Holmes, Cressac and Suutari-Jääskö. Adam Lilac, 20, plays on the right wing and has collected 3 goals and many more assists in the Baptism of Fire so far, including last night's memorising run where he beat 3 players before allowing Holmes to score a critical goal in the quarter-final match.

Then in center midfield the U21's captain who lead his U21 teamates to a Di Bradini Quarter-Final game where they were only beaten on penalties. A strong player in the middle of the park who also gets some goals, 1 in the Baptism of Fire and 1 at the Di Bradini Cup. The 20 year old is most definatly going to captain the senior side in the near futur.

And up front for the Kers is probably the two youngest, most talented fowards Kernansquillec has yet to see. Kai Holmes, only 17 years old burst on to the international scene in the Di Bradini Cup where he netted 6 goals in 7 games. He was naturaly picked by Dean Harold for the Baptism of Fire and has kept up his impresive form scoring in every single game so far for the Kers leading the scoreboard in the side with 8 of Kernansquillec's 17 goals. He's scored cushial goals for his team. He's also scored some for fun. But with his great sence of play, good technique and wicked shot he is, at the age of 17, the first name to go down on the match sheet.

And finaly from one young star to an even younger one. Kimmo Suutari-Jääskö is the youngest ever player to play for the U21s, for the Senior Team as well as the youngest player to score for the U21 and Senior Teams at the age of 15. He scored twice at the Di Bradini Cup and has scored 4 so far in the Baptism of Fire. He is loved and admired by vertualy every Kernansquillecan. But he is also famous for his on-going love story with Cheergirls' Brittany Hazlett. With both team in the semi-finals of the Baptism of Fire, national magazines are having tons to write about with a possible fairytalist final with the couple playing eachother for the Baptism of Fire title.

So the Kernansquillecan side is almost ready for the World Cup but the manager is firmly stating that his side must take it one step at a time and must only focus on winning games and their semi-final game tonight:
We can't allow ourselves to get ahead of ourselves. We have games to play and we shall play them, but in order to win those games you have to only think of what you need to do to win the next one you are about to play. What is the point of thinking "we're going to play so and so in the final" and then finding yourself 2-0 down in the semi-final?! Fans and newspapers can dream if they want but me and the boys are only focused on winning our next game, whever it is a friendly or a cup final.

So the full squad will be annonced in the next couple of days and The Daily Kernansquillecan will of course bring you full match reports of all the qualification games and the pre-tournament friendlies.

In football, there are usually two kind of heroes. There are the ones which everyone knows like Simeone Di Bradini and then there are the many unsung heroes without which the team would fail. Inacayal Mojica falls into the latter of the two categories. Despite some attention to his recent strong performances, most of the media focuses on names like Rudolfo Brown or Laufston Town midfielder Edó. Yet despite this, day in and day out Inacayal works at his craft and does so much harder than most. While most, by his age, have already left the sport or have faded from their prime, yet he still puts hours in on the training field to ensure that he stays in top form. Even then, he can still tell that his ability and endurance have begun to slip. The notoriously long Virabi season, combined with his rigorous training regimen recently have begun to take more and more of a toll on him.

In his younger days, he was able to juggle both football and his other interests but, now it has become increasingly more difficult to do so and his life has become monotonous. Now, almost all he does is football and sleep, a fact which has gotten him slightly depressed. At 39, he was still single and aside from the guys on the team he had only a few friends, which was something that got to him. When he went in to the sport, he could not fathom that it would become this big a part of his life and while he enjoyed it, each day it was just a little bit less and somedays he felt like he was forcing himself to go to play in his own matches.

Still, if you asked him if he wanted to retire, he'd be quick to shake his head but, deep down he knew he was in the final years of his career. For once, he wanted to settle down and not be on the road every other day. For once, he just wanted to live a life. Something which is real hard for any Virabi player, especially one with his level of dedication.

It was in the midst of this thought process that the phone next to his hotel bed began to go off. Initially, he just laid there in his bed determined to let it go off but, his willpower gave in and he picked it up.

"Hello, is this Inacayal?", asked the voice on the phone.

"Sí, who's speaking?", replied Inacayal.

"This is Jeff, Jeff Parker"

Once he heard that name, Inacayal immediately knew what the call was about. Jeff was calling him to notify him that he had been picked to represent his country in goal for the next World Cup. He had already received a strong hint that this would be the case when the association picked him over Jimmy London to be one of the nation's representatives to an all-star team of up and coming football nations. This prospect, though, was slightly troubling to him. On one hand he was exuberant to represent his country at the highest stage. On the other hand, he knew it meant almost a month of consecutive football, a game on almost everyday which was overkill to the fact that he was already quite burnt out from the sport. Still, dilemma, Inacayal agreed to be the starting goalkeeper. He figured, that if he were to quit football, he might as well get at least one cap for his nation. For now, though, he could only look forward to another flight, this time to Vonghurst for training, so he got up to go inform his club manager Ray Tilling of the news.

Practise began on Monday.

Vítejte v Novikova! Wecome to Novikov!
A brief visitor's guide to Novikov

Novikov is a the second largest member state in the United Kingdom of Oceania, with a diverse population of over 5,1 billion people. Novikov is a cultural melting pot, with a vibrant native Slavic culture stretching back thousands of years which has adopted many traditions of Czech, Slovak, Russian, Polish, and other immigrant groups. It’s national languages are Czech, Slovak, Russian, Novojensk*, and English.

The land of Novikov is broken up between two principal islands: Novikov and Czechzenia. The Island of Novikov tends to be quite rocky and mountainous, and visitors who venture into the countryside can experience it‘s rugged beauty in one of many National Wilderness Areas. Despite the island’s rugged terrain, the great central plains between Poldi’sk and Trnava are the most dense and fertile agricultural region in the United Kingdom! Novikov is also home to most of the country’s citizens, and the nation’s five largest cities all sit on this island. Czechzenia, meanwhile, is much less densely inhabited. Beyond the rugged southern coastline, visitors to the interior will find a unique temperate rainforest which once covered much of the island.

Novikovians themselves tend to be generous and tolerant, if sometimes sharp-tongued. Visitors should be aware of Novikovian’s general love for debate on a wide variety of topics including politics and religion, and should not hold any topic too close for scrutiny while in the country. Those from more conservative cultures may also be taken back by Novikov’s rampant atheism, as well as it’s liberal social policies. Alcohol, tobacco, and many other drugs are legal in Novikov and are often used in public. Those visiting for the 51+ Cup or other sporting events should know that Novikovian football fans tend to be very passionate football fans (sometimes to the point of violence), and should refrain from incendiary remarks while in the country. Visitors should also practice at least some Czech/Slovak or Russian phrases, as foreigners speaking exclusively English tend to be viewed with suspicion or scorn in areas of the south and in Czechzenia.

Visitors are recommended to purchase a National Rail Pass for O£ 62,5 (NS$ 117,18) if they plan to travel within the country, so they can take advantage of Novikov’s sophisticated rail network, including the new KPV high speed bullet trains. Purchase entitles the holder to unlimited use of Novikovian trains for a full month. While traveling, be sure to take advantage of the many youth hostels and other free lodging available in most Novikovian cities. Also take a look at the diverse nightlife available in Novikov’s large cities, from all-night discoteks to Russian ballet to underground Jazz bars and streamside performers. Some visitors may also enjoy sampling Novikov’s unique cuisine, with it’s mix of Slavic and Eastern flavors. Favorite foods include sausage, dumplings, cabbage rolls, and a traditional rice-and-pork stew called svinskyaci. Those with less adventerous pallates can also find a wide range of ethnic resteraunts suitable to their particular pallate.

(Continued from World Cup 54...)

PREVIOUSLY on the Adventures of Kyle Cartman:

Kyle was taken to an undisclosed location in Green Wombat by his arch-enemy General Abe Simpson, who has cloned himself and by former Qazoxian President Dennis Halpberg. Kyle had come back to Qazox with the 4 pieces needed to time travel using the Janus Gate; the Shroud of Turin, a piece of the True Cross, the intelligent atomic particles and the water from the Enternal Spring. Using these 4 items, Kyle will be able, thank in part to his immortality travel back in time to prevent himself from causing the Noveen Conjunction while reasearching the Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen paradox. But despite his immortality, Kyle will become stuck in time after too many attempts. Currently, there are 7 alternate timelines in which Kyle will have to attempt to stop himself. Simpson and Halpberg are unsure as to how exactly Kyle's experiments in college created the Noveen Conjunction in the first place, but they believe that the combined effect of numerous versions of Kyle in alternate timeine creating thier experiment at the same time created a causality loop. Just before enering the Janus Gate, Kyle had an idea....

"OK, I know that travelling within the Janus Gate will cause me to absorb chronitions, but what if I was phased when I entered. If we use the Hansen Apparatus, then i'll be slightly dimensionally shifted out of the timestream and absorb less chronitions." Kyle said.

"One small problem with that, Kyle." General Simpson replied. "On loops 2 and 5 we tried using it and it failed. Either we didn't get the calculations correct or the phase-shifting can't work within the Janus Gate."

"Dammit. So exactly how many tims have I travelled back in time so far?" Kyle asked.

"None. The previous 15 cycles, we either tried to send another person or an automated signal. We're gone over the data for each of the last 2 cycles, that's over 226 years of constant calulations, the last 25 years of which were spent double checking the data with F.E.R.M.I. (Faster-than-light Engram Recursive Machine Intelligence), the most intelligent supercomputer we have. Kyle, unless you go into the Janus Gate within the next 10 minutes, there will be no chance for you to use the Janus Gate until just before the Noveen Conjuction hits again." Dennis Halpberg answered.

Kyle sighed and began to prepare himself to be sent back in time, at least 7 times to stop himself from making a mistake that caused the Q-Continuum to be sent back in time every 113 years, falling almost 46,000 years out of synch with the rest of the universe. After one last systems check, and ensuring that everything was prepared correctly, Kyle awaited the countdown.

"TEN" A slight tingle began to course throughout Kyle's body.

"NINE" The tingle increased in intensity, and Kyle felt like he was a human pincushion.

"EIGHT" A sight hum from the machine around Kyle was noticeable.

"SEVEN" The tingling and hum began to increase in frequency, causing Kyle to fight to keep from passing out.

"SIX" The humming passed Kyle's range of hearing, but now a pale blue light began to surround him.

"FIVE" The light got more intese, causing Kyle to close his eyes.

"FOUR" The light now was so bright, Kyle could see even with his eyes closed, but he was in so much pain, he barely noticed.

"THREEEEE" The sounds from outside of the Janus Gate began to timeshift, but Kyle once again barely noticed, as the light and tingling almost became unbearable.

"TWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" From Kyle's perpective, if he had opened his eyes, everything outside of the Janus Gate would have begun to dissapear, while from within the lab, Kyle began to dissappear.

"ONNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" Kyle's body completely vanished, from the lab's point of view; while Kyle felt his body being disembodied.

With a flash of blue light, Kyle Cartman went back in time...

Dr. Fruitystines Journal

Oh my god! It's the world cup. I've never said a word on football before. Of course this doesn't mean that I don't know anything about football, in fact I know everything about football! Why would they chose me to manage the team otherwise? The team of course might not be that good, but I don't doubt my little fish. Who could ever doubt the fish anyway? They are so fast and are know for scoring goals. In fact they have scored like 3 goals between them in the last two cups. That wasn't bad for when the nation was ruled by an evil pessimist. These days though football still doesn't get the attention that it deserves. Most people like cricket, I like cricket. The reason being we are good at that, at least we've never lost a game of it. Not even to Krytenia, and they were good. In fact we could have beaten them Krytenian's if it wasn't for the umpires falling asleep at 2100.

Anyway onto football. If by some miracle we qualify, which won't be impossible doubters! We will be heading for Aguazul and Delaclava, two nations both know for... playing football... Yes it isn't quite obvious how they are connected, which has made journalists from East Mossulia become so frustrated their ears began to swell before they dripped pus into their brain killing them. Yes, if your from Eastern Mossulia stay away from journalism. It will be very different to last world cup where they had two qualifying phases. Well you know, it would have been to qualify. But looking at the scale of things we could manage to get a better ranking in this cup and move on to win the CoH.

Now looking at other things... well what other things to look at? Hmm... I think that Aguazul won the last world cup, just let me check. Okay yeah they did. They beat a team of bears in the final 1-0, which looks even more funny on paper then in my head. Of course they might be one of the strangest nations in the world, so I could have a good time reporting from there. The time before that they made it to the quarter-finals, so their winning of the cup wasn't too unexpected. The time before that they also made it to the quarter-finals. So basically they aren't good enough for the semi-finals, but they are good enough for any other round. That's just great isn't it, more bizarre crap to report on. And I'm not being sarcastic.

Well looking at Delaclava in the last world cup they fell out in the first round (the group stage dummy). Oh wait no... that's the cup before that. Oh well yeah, they bummed out pretty quickly that time. The time before they managed to make it to the round of sixteen, other people might say "Big deal" and move on, but we won't because that just wouldn't make sense would it. Before you ask why look at our record. We're awful. But we can laugh at Delaclava next cup, or lets hope so anyway.

A history of Kazzoria part 1

There is nothing worse than being a dictator. In fact there is. There is being a wannabe dictator in prison. This of course was a young King Lucas I, but back then just Lucas Bold president of Kazzoria and other small pointless islands in the sea. But it hadn't been that way three years earlier...

Lord Lucas, a name with a little bit of a ring to it. Lucas was wandering in the royal courtyard, he was one of 5 lords and he was about to be set his estate in the country for his contributions to the nation. He was a very ambitious member of the hierarchy and the King said he had a surprise in store. The King came walking in in his impressive robes froody thought Lucas. The King greeted him hello and then released the information like a cage full of hungry rats on cannabis. He said that he had found the perfect estate for Lucas. A barren, inhospitable island full of angry natives. That wasn't the only surprise, he was also making Lucas the king of the island, not just the baron. So basically he was giving Lucas an island full of people wanting to kill him and no support whatsoever. Lucas then found himself on the island with 300 followers who had been promised a land of milk and honey/land of god/land of prosperity. Of course all they got was onions and rotten goat flesh. They were tired by the time the natives had given up. They then set up a village. Of course this led to dispute over onions which caused more conflict and upset. What the nation needed was some sort of almighty being. Nothing too impressive, just a deity out of work willing to scare the citizens into emptying their bowels. He put an ad out.

Three weeks later three different deities turned up for an interview. The first one was Gargon. He was a deity from the sandwich islands. He was told to never come back by Lucas as it turned out his only skills were making sandwiches for the population. The people on the islands had been impressed he grumbled as he stormed off. The second one was also a no as he planed to kill everyone with his skewer to teach them who was boss. Lucas just wanted his nation in fear, not dead. The third one however got the job. He had an impressive CV. He had spent 50 years as a deity to the celts and then 20 years as a Roman deity. After that he moved onto 200 years in the Saxon religion and crushing Christian monks. He then became a god to the Normans for 50 years before stalking off to Asia minor for 500 years. He then became the god of shiny things for obscure tribes in Indonesia. He did this island hoping all the time for 300 years before quitting. He had been in-between jobs for 5 years. He could blight crops and the such as well as cause fires and put them out. His name was Huargur the god of Nature now. He got the job.

Things then started going well. The citizens were terrified into believing everything that he said. He then decided to start drilling a massive hole into the sea to distract the citizens from his incapability to rule and the fact that Huargur had run out of tricks. In fact Huargur didn't really know what to do know, his routine was becoming worn. The hole in the sea could get them in fear again. Huargur then found out he had struck lucky. The seabed around Kazzoria was full of oil. He said it was their reward and the citizens became dedicated to their nation. They built massive temples to the divine Huargur and to Lucas. They were convinced both were divine. This plan worked until some land grabbing bastards with massive armies and weapons came along for the oil. In fact most of Toiletdonia showed up.

Imperial Kandoria ~ Sports
Is Kandorith prepared for the World Cup?
By Lisho Yaru

As Kandorith is preparing after a rather well performed BoF, is the team ready to take on the international pressure? The recent interview with head coach Tanaka Yatamo and assistant coach Maru Hitamago screams "yes!" from the interview the only message was; Kandorith is going to give everything to try and get good results at the World Cup. Although both coaches said Kandorith probably has no chance of winning, they want to get past the group stages atleast.

Striker Yatá Hasabe has confidence in scoring a large number of goals, laughing he said; "I will go for the record goalscoring of the entire tournament, it's a dream but worth a try." Yatá Hasebe reflects the confidence of the Kandorese team quite well, the entire team has been training hard and have shown major improvements since their last international matches.

The Emplor on Sunday's chief football reporter, Gordon Hanks, today had an exclusive interview with FSSO striker Lee Sharp on his latest endevaours as part of the international 'Young Gun's' team, his aspirations for the 55th World Cup, domestic performances and the Erathi weather.

Gordon Hanks: It's a pleasure to talk with you today Lee. This is your first interview with us since the move to Erathore, yes?

Lee Sharp: Yes.

GH: So can you shed any light on that move? After all when you last spoke to us you seemed to be content to stay at Directus. What changed?

LS: I didn't really make a decision for a while but then I got the call saying that Directus had accepted an offer from Mildrid, and at that point I knew I had to make a decision. I love Directus and the fans, everything, but I'd been there for a while and I wanted to try something new. I was happy at Directus so nothing changed, I guess I just wanted to freshen up my career a bit.

GH: And I understand you've been doing pretty well in Erathore? 28 goals in all competitions and International Player of the Year is a sure feat in a country you had never played in.

LS: We played them in the first Market Cup and they were easily our hardest opponents. I knew it was going to be a challenge but I never doubted I could do it and so I'm delighted to be doing well. Getting that award was an honour, as was winning the title.

GH: What's it like living there?

LS: It's not much different from home, actually! Warmer weather that's for sure. I still try to come back to the FSSO a lot though, I do miss it sometimes.

GH: Now, how do you feel about your performances in the Young Guns tour so far? Pleased?

LS: Definitley. I'm really proud to be a representative of our nation and I've been scoring. James is on the team too so I'm not alone, and the guys from the other countries are great personalities. I get on well with Neiran especially, after getting to know him for the last season at Mildrid. I never expected to score one goal let alone three.

GH: Was there one goal in paticular you thought was your best?

LS: Probably the goal against Valanora. I put a lot of effort in that game and as a team we combined brilliantly. I just hooked on to a pass, tried to edge it ahead of the defender and took the shot a little early. I saw it go in and the crowd go up and I was just delirious - thought it was a dream!

GH: You certainly looked happy on the screen. You mentioned you enjoyed the company of the team; what are they like individually?

LS: I get on best with Neiran and Skye, seeing as we form that front three at Mildrid. Timo is very funny sometimes. We actually started a small fire by accident once - or rather Roberto did - which was scary at the time but hilarious when I look back at how stupid it was. Mikael went home which was a shame because I got on ok with him.

GH: Now what about your aspirations for the World Cup?

LS: Last time we didn't make it past qualifying, but it was our first World Cup so we were not too distraught about it. Hopefully this time we can qualify from the inter zonals - that would be a dream for all of us.

GH: It was great talking to you Lee. Good luck with your final Young Guns match, and the World Cup of course. Do us proud!

World Cup Fifty-Five
(Coupe du Monde Cinquante-Cinq)

Press Conference Between the Media and Tsilevich

(OOC: For RP purposes, pretend Tsilevich has an Arsene Wenger accent and looks like him too)

Director of Sport: And now I leave you to your our new national football coach, Prosha Tsilevich.

*claps*
*Tsilevich comes out wearing a nice, professional looking suit. His face reflects seriousness*

Tsilevich: Might as well begin to introduce myself. My name is Prosha Tsilevich, I come from the nation of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu as most of you know, I am replacing Steven Sanchez as head coach of PAP's national football team, as he decided to venture into club managing. I hope to bring this great team some success, whether it be in the World Cup or Cup of Harmony, I want this team to win something and it will hopefully under my management.
Well I guess I'll take any questions now.

Reporter: Mr. Tsilevich, uh, we've heard that you enjoy playing a more defensive style of play, will that change now that you command a team with a strong offense, featuring players like Francisco Gonzalez and Louis Zizi?

Tsilevich: Yes, it is going to change, I'm keeping the same style modifier as Sanchez had and I am giving captaincy to Gonzalez so the offense is more organized.

Reporter: Wait, wait, wait. Figo is no longer captain?

T: Nope.

Reporter: Just like that?

T: I discussed it with him and he was okay with it, he understood that if this team is going to win games, we need to score goals and who else but Gonzalez knows how to score them?

Reporter: Will Figo's position change because of this?

T: It will. I have changed the formation from the restricting 4-3-1-2 to the 4-2-2-2. This way strong and powerful players like Taylor and Zepeda can play their preferred DM position and Figo and Mendoza can play their preferred AM position. Mendoza used to be play as a DM, restricting his movement, yet he scored many goals, imagine how many more he'll be able to score as an AM.

Reporter: Has the squad changed in anyway in terms of talent and ability and any other aspect of themselves?

T: Well, obviously, they all aged 4 years, and with aging comes a decrease in ability. Yet, some players like Figo, Mendoza and Zizi have actually IMPROVED since the last World Cup.

Reporter: Does Zizi's and Mendoza's improvement due to them playing in the much more advanced and competitive league, the Cafandeu league?

T: It does. Any other questions?

Reporter: Yeah, right here.

T: Alright, last one.

Reporter: What exactly is the relationship between you and Gonzalez?

T: Well, I pretty much told him this: "Worry about the offense and I'll worry about the defense." As for the midfield, I have instructed Figo to take care of it. Yes, this could be a problem because of a lack of communication, but Figo, Gonzalez and I have decided to talk about our plays before the game. I'll try to instruct them when they're on the pitch, but Gonzalez's is the captain and it's up to him to guide the team on the pitch. That's all, thank you.

Mace: The best things in life are things
To live in, to breathe in

Jonasei: whipped in back to back matches. That really sucks. Can’t tell we are ready for a major World Cup run, can you?

Kymy: back to back matches none of us wanted to play. Don’t forget that last part. It makes a huge difference.

Mace: The best things in life are things
That something you can believe in

Ciara: We still should have beaten the Young Guns.

Jonasei: Over with now. We have four friendlies in 8 days before qualification gets underway. And those begin with Sarzonia.

Mace: Do you believe me?
Do you believe me when I say
Tonight won't last for long?
And soon it will be gone

Kymy: Yeah. We haven’t had much luck against the Stars. Time to turn that around.

Kiel: That would get things started with a bang. And Swartaz follows that one. Always have had some great matches with those guys.

Mace: But I won't leave you alone, no, no
Whenever you call me, whenever you need me
Wherever you wander until you see me

Jonasei: I am kind of looking forward for the trip to Sorthern Northland. They handled us pretty good in Commerce Heights.

Ciara: Should have been at home rather than playing that one.

Mace: I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting for you
For you, for you, for you

Kymy: has anybody paid attention? Mace is doing a great job on this song.

Salis’shava: Whoop tee doo dah day. Asshole.

Mace: The best things in life are things
The laughing and crying
The best things in life are things
The frightened, they're still fighting

Jonasei: C’mon Sali, you asked for that rejection.

Sali: Bite me.

Jonasei: You don’t taste very good.

Mace: Do you believe me?
Do you believe me, yeah, when I say
Tonight won't last for long?
Soon it will be gone

Kymy: Can it, you two. We don’t need to be fighting before the qualifiers or bad things could happen.

Ciara: Like losing to the Young Guns again.

Mace: But I won't leave you alone, no, no
Whenever you call me, whenever you need me
Wherever you wander until you see me
I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting for you
For you, for you, for you

Kiel: Or worse. We could lose to Elves.

Jonasei: Watch what you say. Elven squads are ranked 1st and 9th.

Mace: You said that you were leaving
But it's alright, it's alright
You said sorry
But it's alright, yes, it's alright

Sali: It would be nice to knock off one or both of them though.

Kymy: Agreed. But we have to be at our best for that to happen.

Mace: The best things in life are things
Broken and bleeding
The best things in life are things
They're chosen to believe in

Ciara: Let’s just worry about getting through the qualifiers for now. That will be tough enough.

Kiel: Yeah. Don’t want to be relegated to the Cup of Harmony at this point.

Mace: [I[So whenever you call me, whenever you need me
Wherever you wander until you see me
I'll be waiting, I'll be waiting for you
For you, for you, for you[/I]

Kymy: My turn to buy the drinks. Who wants to help me carry them?

Ciara: I’ll go with you.

Mace: And I say, eeoh, eeoh, eeoh, eeoh
Eeoh, eeoh, eeoh, eeoh
Eeoh, eeoh, eeoh, eeoh, eeoh

I say it's alright, it's alright
It's alright, it's gonna be alright now

Postby Civil Citizenry » Mon Apr 18, 2011 7:22 pm

It was intentional. The Civil Citizenry national practice complex had short fences so fans could hand memorabilia to passing players in hopes of snagging an autograph or two. No eager child or prospective collector could hope to score a signed ball or program at the Grand Soccer Stadium across the street. No, this was the place to do it - and the time: the weekend before nations from far and wide across the multiverse would travel here with the dream of qualifying for the fifty-fifth World Cup. Fans who had trekked out to Richardsonia were more than pleased at what they were being treated to: Imaneta Acca, the boy wonder of the national squad, the carrier of the hopes and dreams of his country, was slowly making his way along the throng of spectators behind those fences, signing everything that was shoved in his vicinity. He shared the same smile that was plastered on the faces of each little boy and girl whose mini-soccer ball came back with an ink signature from their hero.

Fucking golden boy Imaneta. I'm fucking better than him. That pompous-ass prick just wants the publicity for his fucking endorsements. Fuck him, fuck.

One might expect a team to be united under the common goal of getting into the most challenging and prestigious sporting event in all of NationStates. Indeed, the arrival of the World Cup would generally signify putting aside animosity and hatred in order to work as a single unit for the betterment of the home country everyone represents. But for Vomare Eksyama, the World Cup would mean more publicity than ever for his rival on the attacking line: Acca.

Why the fuck don't the fans want Vomare Eksyama on their fucking balls? That's what she said. Haha! I'm funny. Funnier than Imaneta - that skank. Haha!

Eksyama had sufficient reason to be jealous of Acca. Eksyama had nearly twice as many international goals as Acca, and he was head and shoulders above all other Civil Citizenry players in national team goals. Yet when it came time to send a player to captain the prestigious NS Sports Young Guns team, he had been snubbed by the national Ministry of Sport in favor of Acca. And now, he was being passed over by fans - one of those aging no-names who was in the record books for now, but wouldn't stay there for long (at least according to the public). But at just twenty-five years old, Eksyama knew he wasn't washed up yet, nor would he reach that stage anytime in the foreseeable future. In fact, he was at the top of his game. And he planned to prove it over the next three weeks.

"Fuck!"

His mind had been racing with expletives for a while, but one unintentionally slipped out of Eksyama's mouth. He had been staring at the gathering of fans, specifically at Acca's cheery movement through it. Teammate Tazz Reppible walked by, hearing Eksyama's utterance and noticing his glare; he decided it was in the team's best interest to try and calm the attacker. "Hey, forget about it," he said firmly. "We have more important things." Eksyama didn't acknowledge him. Reppible continued on his way. Dick. This had better not become a real problem.
