Didn't know that Commerce Heights is inline to be commended by the WA? Click the emblem to read the resolution! --->

NOTE FOR ROLEPLAYERS: ALL ROLEPLAY REGARDING THE MATCHES GOES IN THE DEBATE THREAD, ALL OOC DISCUSSION REGARDING THE MATCHES AND ROSTER INFORMATION GOES IN THIS THREAD. THANKS.

To Coincide With The Vote For "Commend Commerce Heights"..

You are cordially invited to attend several independent friendly association football matches during the debate thread for "Commend Commerce Heights". My intention is to run eight independent and friendly matches between Apr. 4 and Apr. 8 to coincide with the actual voting. I'm thinking one-two matches per day, which amounts to eight matches and thus sixteen teams. Regardless of whether or not the vote goes well, we'll still be celebrating Commerce Heights in our own way.

On a more administrative note, I will be dropping reminders in this thread of upcoming matches during the voting period, so I hope to see some people out to roleplay their coverage of this hopefully enjoyable selection of matches.

Tentative Schedule
Our Matches' Scorinator is Delaclava. [Format: Away vs. Home]

April 4th
Bears Armed v.s. Aguazul 1 [Final Score: 1-5]

April 5th
Sarzonia v.s. Krytenia-Starblaydia [Final Score: 1-4]
Sorthern Northland v.s. Andossa Se Mitrin Vega @Olympic Tower Stadium, Aeropag [Final Score: 3-1]

April 6th
Rejistania v.s. Bettia [Final Score: 1-0]
Cassadaigua v.s. Dorian and Sonya [Final Score: 3-2]

April 7th
Valanora v.s. Starblaydia [Final Score: 0-2]
The Holy Empire v.s. Bazalonia [Final Score: 0-1] @ The Imperial Hippodrome, The Holy Empire
*

April 8th
Petardos S/A (Cafundéu) v.s. Yuba United (Commerce Heights) [Final Score: 1-0]
Olympique Protectorat u21 (Ad’ihan) v.s. Yuba United Under 21s(Commerce Heights) [Final Score: 0-2]
NS Sports Young Guns v.s. WA Authors [Final Score: 0-1]

1. EDIT: Saavedra is not on the current Aguazul roster, and Osorio may be starting on defense instead of Poblano.

These matches' stand-bys are (1) The Babbage Islands

I propose that Novikov v Virabia be apart of this showcase. We'll even let the MLA come and do their thing. This will of course see violence... lots of it. Only fitting for a Novikov v. Virabia match

Sarzonia would like to face off against either a combined team of Starblaydia and Krytenia OR against its greatest friends and traditional Cyanea Cup rivals Delaclava.

Seconded. I think we're decent enough teams to participate, although I may be a biased opinion on the subject. If the match is accepted, Virabia, I believe it's my turn to host, eh?

Hey Uni, if both Erathore and FSSO meet your standards, could we compete against each other in this wonderful exhibition? Ours is a quickly developing rivalry that, whilst not as intense as the Vir-Noki rivalry, is one full of emotion.

This would scream bird on skates (us and Dancougar).

I would advise this be kept for traditional classics and not first-come, first serve.. Such as the Sarzonia-Krytenia mentioned.

I would agree, although this does beg the question of who qualifies as a "traditional" or "classic" team. Anyways, it's up to the organizer. I hope Virabia-Novikov is accepted, though.

My primary football rivalries are Churchma and Khytenna. Both of these rivalries have been annual friendlies for 4 World Cups now. The Cosumar-Churchma rivalry is especially intense because it spans several sports including hockey and gridiron.

I hope either of these rivalries is acceptable to the organizer should either Khytenna or Churchma confirm.

Decision-making on my part is going to have an emphasis on making sure the traditional rivalries are represented, because of the limited number of matches available. I think 1-2 matches a day will be enough to energize the thread and keep it lively without also overwhelming it the point where the thread become more about the matches than the commendation. Commerce Heights will have the final say on who plays. :)

CH/Uni, if you feel that the more traditional and prestigious rivalries are better, feel free to remove FSSO and myself. Besides FSSO still needs to confirm but I'm willing to bet he'll say yes as he always itches for a chance to beat me.

I'd, quite selfishly, recommend a friendly Starblaydia and Valanora (what with the 9 WC titles between us). Any combination of Sarzonia-Krytenia-Starblaydia is also great fun and full of rivalry.

Bettia should also play Rejistania (Takil vs Karela, Attack vs Defence, of course).

The Dreamed Realm will gladly participate - though for IC reasons, it should probably be the Holy Empire rather than the Archregimancy.

So any suitably ancient nation willing to play against the last remaining active WC1 participants, and who can justify thinking that they have a rivalry with the Imperial Squad (not that HEFA thinks it has any rivalries with mere mundies)... feel free to put your hands up.

I am willing to field both Juan Tzimisces and Ug-Ug for the occasion. Basil and Theo would commentate.

Self-edit:

If Unibot can coax Ariddia out of football retirement, I would be eager to play the World Cup founders. The recently revived Tanah Burung would also be a highly appropriate opponent.

How about a "re-match" of the last World Cup's final? Ours isn't truly a "traditional" rivalry yet, I admit, but bearing in mind that you actually managed to beat us twice during the WC54 cycle -- once in qualifying, as well as in the final itself -- whereas nobody else beat us in anything more important than a friendly (including the 'Pink Cup' under that heading...) it could be the start of one...

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Sure, if this goes ahead (thanks TBI for volunteering to scorinate?) I originally agreed under the mistaken impression that technical details were more hammered out than they were, and am since a little less confident in the idea; if it's showing off what sports RP looks like that's the goal, one might as well link to clever posts like, let us say for the purposes of argument, this one--except for the fact that it probably isn't that funny to the uninitiated. But any Aguazul RP for such a purpose would likely feature IC nods to, among other things, the international adventures of Mapabore Juventud, the long (i.e. pre-TQCC) history of Yuba United, and the case to be made that pitting "national" teams against each other to honor the potential of the "World Assembly" honoring the (quite deserving) contributions of the n s c org thing they would be honoring is kind of missing the point, and might not be understandable either. Granted I could annotate it or whatever, but that doesn't solve the latter problem.
