Doing away with the rain that slowed things down last season, the 36 drivers set about to recording much faster times than last year. 18th placed qualifier Aaron Batiste, who recorded a fast lap of 1:36.903, would've sat on the pole last season.

Pole sitter Steven Brand will sit on the front row with Jonathan Nesmith. While Ilgana failed to get on the front row, they do have three drivers (one of which is from the junior MyFace team) starting in the top 10.

Valerio Spannagel (Tata) DNF lap 1
Savino Frank (Fiat Chrysler) DNF lap 1

Raymond Cassady once again claimed victory in Brham after doing the same last season. With the 10 points from that victory, Cassady and Steven Brand, who finished fourth, sit atop the Driver's Championship standings.

The race didn't get off to a good start as Valerio Spannagel stalled at the start and Savino Frank rammed into his backside. Both drivers were alright, and luckily, the debris was fairly contained in a small area. A local caution around the start finish line was put in place while crews cleared the cars and cleaned up the debris, but they weren't fast enough as Eliphalet McDermot slashed his tires on a piece of body work and spun out going into Turn 1. He ended up in the wall, and he too was out of the race.

Ilgana suffered their first setback of the day after Stafford Beumers' Ilgana 1.6L Mk.I X2014V6A Turbo engine gave out. Running for the junior McRonald's Ilgana team, Beumers won't figure much into the championship race, but his loss does point to the Ilgana engine needing some work. Lap 8 would see another set back for Ilgana, as Maxcom Ilgana's Septune Tyree lost several gears and crawled back to pit lane.

Lap 10 would see the second crash of the race, as Seymour Poletti and Bob Riley would get together going into Turn 13. This time a full course caution would be put in place to avoid a repeat of the circumstances that left McDermot quite angry just a few laps earlier. Nathan Dahlgren and Eddy Richardson would crash on Lap 35, once again at the entrance to Turn 13. Things didn't get much better for the Royal Automobile Club after Richardson's crash, as their other driver, Roswell Corna, would plunge into Aaron Batiste's left side on Lap 40 during the last crash of the day.

Their were four crashes in total, calling into question the number of cars that were allowed on the track. According to DARF regulations, a total of 58 cars could have started the race had their been that many entries, and the carnage then would have much likely been worse. Track safety, especially the dubious decision to go for only a local caution at the beginning of the race and Turn 13 will also be called into question, although DARF were quick to state that everything in the race had been done by the rules and that the track was one of the safest in Darmen.

In the final laps of the race, reigning Rookie of the Year Ryan Clark failed to finish with only three laps left, dropping out after his brakes gave out, narrowly missing the walls on Turns 16 and 17. He made superb use of the grassy areas each side of the track, while other drivers did fantastic jobs avoiding a collision.

Eighteen drivers finished the race, one of the highest totals ever achieved in recent years. Raymond Cassady was the first to cross the line, doing so 1:27:48.889 after the lights went green. Nathan Macklin narrowly beat Steven Brand to the line to stand on the podium

2015 Darmeni Auto Racing Federation Season Preview
Grand Prix Tour

The premier competition of the Darmeni Auto Racing Federation, the Grand Prix Tour is back and bigger and better than ever. The competition has almost doubled in length and just about in the number of drivers. The number of teams has precisely doubled. So lets launch into the details.

Drivers & Teams
Reigning champion Raymond Cassady is back and ready to defend his title. He'll be joined on the flagship Ilgana Racing team by none other than Joshua Parks who will be returning to the domestic series after some time racing away from home. Parks has two titles to his name, winning in 2011 and 2013 (the 2012 series was cancelled). He will be looking to win a third title in his last season, as the DARF has set a mandatory retirement age of 36 for all drivers in all series.

Ilgana Racing will be running four junior teams, namely: MyFace Ilgana, Ilgana CyberMirage, McRonald’s Ilgana and Maxcom Ilgana. The MyFace team, sponsored by the largest social networking site in Darmen, will have Billy Newman and Oliver Parsons. Just like Parks, they two are returning from racing overseas, and in the case of Parsons, will be making their debut on the domestic tour. CyberMirage drivers include Antonio Rahman, who is returning from overseas, and TIto Kudrna, who will be considered a rookie despite having raced previously in Hodori.

The McRonald's team includes last seasons Rookie of the Year, Ryan Clark, who finished 15th in the final drivers standings with 14 points. He'll be paired with 38 year Stafford Beumers, the oldest driver on the series roster of 36 drivers. This will be Stafford's only season racing on the domestic series, having spent most of his career in Hodori. And finally, there is the Maxcom team. Juan Kermit, who still dreams of one day driving full time in the World Grand Prix Championship, will be the lead driver. He'll be joined by Septune Tyree, who was one of four drivers last season to fail to score a point.

General Motors, who finished tied on points with Ilgana last season in the team standings, losing the title, after only winning the Six Hours of Tilden compared to Raymond Cassady's two wins over the course of the season, will return this year with drivers Jimmy Stumpf and Clarence Mota. General Motors will be a contender all year, as will Hyundai. Steven Brand and Vincent Carlton will return as drivers for Hyundai, who finished third last season in the team standings.

Then there's fourth place team, Suzuki, and their top driver, Nathan Macklin, who finished second last year in the drivers standings. They'll also prove to be top contenders, with secondary driver Timothy Harris looking to expand his influence over the rest of the series.

That rounds out the contenders and the Ilgana teams. Now lets look at the new teams and those not returning for the 2015 season. Mitsubishi, Nissan and Peugeot, for the second straight season, will not be running teams. They last appeared in the 2013 season. Mazda, who finished last in the team standings last season, will not be running, citing their lack of competitiveness and financial loss from last season as the main reasons for not coming back.

Daimler, Renault and Tata will all be returning to the series after siting out the 2014 season. Fiat Chrysler will be making its DARF debut this season, and will be joined by two Darmeni teams that hope to rival Ilgana. They are General Chassis and the Royal Automobile Club. The Royal Automobile Club is a subsidy of the Royal Sports Club.

Other teams running in the series this year are: Ford, Honda, Porsche (which ran under the Volkswagen brand last season), and Toyota.

Other drivers (and their respective teams) racing in the series this year are: Radcliff Abate (Tata), Phelim Badcock (Daimler), Michael Barnwell (Fiat Chrysler), Aaron Batiste (General Chassis), Jesse Bickford (Porsche), Roswell Corna (Royal Automobile Club), Rodney Crespo (General Chassis), Nathan Dahlgren (Porsche), Eric Donaldson (Ford), Savino Frank (Fiat Chrysler), Matthew Fuentes (Honda), John Kennseth (Toyota), Eliphalet McDermott (Renault), Sean Macomber (Honda), Jonathan Nesmith (Toyota), Seymour Poletti (Daimler), John Rackley (Ford), Eddy Richardson (Royal Automobile Club), Bob Riley (Renault), Valerio Spannagel (Tata).

Courses & Calendar
The race calendar is expanding from 12 rounds to 23. The National Trials will not take place this year, as the DARF felt that they would not add anything to the season. According to the DARF Executive Committee, the Trials may return for the 2016 season depending upon the number of rookies entering the series.

Once again, the season began with the Brham Grand Prix (Round 1), with Raymond Cassady picking up his second straight win at the course. The series will now move on to Palerma, where they will embark on a series of three new additions to the calendar. The Palerma Grand Prix (Round 2), Vogler City Grand Prix (Round 3) and Sterling City Grand Prix (Round 4), will likely shake things up in the race for the championship as teams lack the data that they have for the returning races. Strategies will be extremely varied between teams, and will play an important factor in who will lift the championship trophies at the end of the season.

Den Oval Ranen (Round 5), the only oval race held last season, will be joined by the Menomonie 400 (Round 10), held at the Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie. The addition of a second oval race is just one of the steps taken by the DARF to return the GP Tour back to its historic roots, especially the early years, when the number of oval races far outnumbered the number of road course races.

After a full week of action at the Kansas Oval (the Stock Car series will be there as well), the teams will head south to Chuckio for the Chuckio Grand Prix (Round Six), before heading east for the Rogerton Grand Prix (Round Seven). These two returning races will be the first time the Tour heads south for the season, with another trip planned for later in the season. The DARF has highlighted the need for more races in the south next season, as they have plans to expand the schedule even further (though they probably won't go anywhere near the all time high of 51 races held during the 2001-2003 seasons).

The series will then return north for the Tim City Grand Prix (Round 8) and Brady City Grand Prix (Round 9). After the oval race in Menomonie, the drivers and pit crews will start a series of seven additions to the calendar. Beginning with the Chivax Grand Prix (Round 11), drivers will then head to the Scott City suburb of Buckingham for the Buckingham Grand Prix (Round 12). A trip across the Tyger Mountain Range to Tycos prior to the Tycos Grand Prix (Round 13) will ensue, before the Rigerata Grand Prix marks the fourteenth race of the year.

The series will then come to the capital Scott City for the first time of the year, though this race will not be held at the GP Course. Racing on the streets of the city, drivers will compete in the Duke Lyons Grand Prix (Round 15). The race will have special meaning following the Duke's assassination earlier this year.

Following their first stop in Scott City, the racers will head south for the second and last time of the season for the Johnho Grand Prix (Round 16), before returning north for the National Grand Prix (Round 17) in Cleveland.

The two biggest tests of the year, and a large amount of championship points up for grabs, will cover Rounds 18 and 19, and will mark the beginning of the home stretch for the season. The Scott City Grand Prix (Round 18), is just 12 laps long, but with a course length of over 25 kilometers, anything that goes wrong will more than likely end the drivers day.

The single car, multi driver, six hours, format for the Tilden race has been done away with. Racers will now embark on a 1000km marathon that will take them 37 times around the 27.258km Tilden Island Circuit. The race will also be the fastest non-oval race of the season, with average lap speeds reaching 154 miles per hour.

From there on out it will be a familiar schedule for the drivers and teams who raced last season. The Liverpool Grand Prix (Round 20), the Romanopolis Grand Prix (Round 21) and the Darmen City Grand Prix (Round 22) all return to the schedule, while the season will end as its traditional final stop of the Ilgana Circuit for the Eau Claire Grand Prix. Double points will be available, and the titles could be decided here depending on how things progress throughout the season.

Overall
With several top drivers returning to Darmen from overseas, and several new teams coming into the series, things are shaking up for a fantastic title battle. The Driver's Championship could be won by just about anyone, while the Team battle looks like it will be tight among a group of five or six contenders.

It will also be interesting to see the relationship with the senior Ilgana Racing team and its four junior teams. Will the junior teams work together to ensure that the senior team, which is already strong enough to win the two titles on its own, has an easy journey to the end? Or will they fight among themselves to see who can spring an upset and finish highest. After all, being Ilgana's top driver is a coveted position, and their ten contracted drivers will all want to reach that position.

In addition, three of Ilgana's drivers are retiring at the end of this season, which will reduce the number of Ilgana drivers to seven. Ilgana plans to run just three teams next year, leaving space for only six drivers. One can only expect that the lowest ranked Ilgana driver at the end of the season (besides the three retirees), will be released, and likely become a top driver for another team.

With at least two new races coming next season (Augusta and Nauti have been heavily favored to host races) and a plethora of teams and drivers coming to the series over the next two years, the GP Tour has never looked stronger. Some safety issues still need to be resolved, but otherwise it looks like smooth sailing for the Tour, its drivers and their teams.

Sitting ninth in the Driver's Championship, Clarence Mota will not be happy with having to start the race last. A glitch in his computer system caused headaches for the team throughout the qualifying session, and with time running out, Mota simply put in a lap to be able to race tomorrow. With in minutes of his return to the garage however, one of the General Motors' team technicians found and fixed the problem. It was too late however.

Ilgana's Joshua Parks takes the pole, while Raymond Cassady will start on the third row. The MyFace Ilgana pair of Newman and Parsons, will start fourth and fifth. Being so close together, their tactics as a team will play an important part in the early laps of the race.

To round out the top six starters, Steven Brand will have a leg up on rival Cassady, starting on the front row in second. Nathan Macklin meanwhile, will start third.

An interesting race to say the least. The opening five laps saw eight cars withdraw from the race with overheated engines, as unseasonably warm temperatures reaching into the 90's (with track temps in the 110's) enveloped the northwest of the nation. Elsewhere, temperatures were very much closer to average, ranging between 20-40 degrees Fahrenheit. Ford and Royal Automobile Club were especially hard hit as both their cars fell victim to the heat. They'll certainly have some work to do on their cooling system before we reach the important months of June and July.

Lap 8 saw a three car pile up between Stafford Beumers, Tito Kudrna and Eliphalet McDermot. Beumers was out of the race immediately, smashing into the wall hard enough that the entire nose section of the car flew off and the front wheels reversed sides. Kudrna and McDermot however, were able to limp for another lap, but eventually had to withdraw as well.

Sean Macomber's brakes failed on Lap 14, not long after the caution had ended for the crash on Lap 8. Just a single lap later, Valerio Spannagel and Vincent Carlton got together, ending their days behind the wheel. There were no other crashes for the rest of the race, however, several more engines overheated, gearboxes blew up, and computer systems failed. Ryan Clark suffered an embarrassing mistake on Lap 39, as he spun out in Turn 8. His car thereafter refused to start.

Clarence Mota, despite qualifying in last position, stayed out of trouble for the entire race, and eventually finished 13th. While he didn't score any points, his performance was extremely remarkable.

Ilgana Racing took first and third places, with Joshua Parks leading the race from start to finish to claim his first victory following his return to the domestic series. Nathan Macklin finished second, denying Raymond Cassady the chance to make it a 1-2 finish for Ilgana. Steven Brand meanwhile, finished fourth, while rookie Oliver Parsons made it clear that he's the favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award.

Darmeni manufacturer General Chassis, the lone competitor with Ilgana Automotive in the Darmeni markets, scored its first ever points as Rodney Crespo finished ninth.

Joshua Parks, riding high after his victory in Palerma, will have to start at Vogler City in last position. A big question on everyone's minds is whether or not Parks can duplicate Clarence Mota's performance in Palerma, where he finished 13th despite starting last. Mota did much better in qualifying for this race, as he will start fourth. Meanwhile, his main rival in the Driver's Championship, Steven Brand, takes his second pole of the season. John Rackley will start second, scoring Ford's first two points of the season.

Savino Frank (Fiat Chrysler) DNF lap 2
Joshua Parks raced through the rear of the field at the start, moving up 16 places by turn 5. After a horrid qualifying session, Parks and his machine finally looked settled at the Vogler City GP Circuit.

Savino Frank's Ferrari 059/3 engine literately blew up on lap 2, setting his car on fire and leaving engineers scratching their heads as to exactly how something like that could even happen. Explanations have ranged from a simple overheating to sabotage.

The Royal Automobile Club is having a royally difficult time so far this season, pun intended (just in case you weren't aware of my writing style). Roswell Corna and Eddy Richardson withdrew from the race on laps 6 and 7 respectively after their teams computer systems went haywire. Once again, the team was left pondering the cause of the mishap, with the team's principle specifically citing sabotage as the most likely cause.

Which of course leaves us wondering who the saboteur is? Many were quick to suggest it was Ilgana, looking to give Parks an easier time of working his way through the field, but Ilgana representatives were quick to point out that they still had 20 races remaining to build their likely insurmountable lead over the rest of the field in both the Driver's Championship and Team Championship.

Could it possibly be a team like Ford or Porsche, who both scored their first points of the season here after struggling in the first two races? What about a team like Tata, which is returning to the series after a year away with two rookie drivers? Or possibly a fan unhappy with the large number of drivers taking part. Ok, so now I'm just pulling at straws, but whoever this saboteur is, they will certainly have a lot to answer for, and may even face criminal charges.

If there even is a saboteur...

Anyways, moving back to the race, a major three car crash on lap 9, involving Rodney Crespo, Billy Newman and title contender Steven Brand, ended the race for all three. Brand was considerably upset with Crespo, who he blamed for the crash, while Crespo confronted a struggling Newman in the garage area. Newman, who should more than likely be the number one driver for MyFace Ilgana, is still sitting on just a single point, while his rookie partner, number two driver Oliver Parsons, is in seventh place with 15 points following the race. His frustration is growing nearly everyday, and could have played a factor in the crash.

Another driver whose frustration is building is Suzuki driver Timothy Harris, who had stated before the season that he was aiming for a top 10 finish in the Driver's Championship, but still has yet to finish a race higher than... well, actually... no, wait a minute.... Harris has yet to finish a race at all this season, withdrawing from the first two with car issues. At least this time he can blame Honda driver Matthew Fuentes, who tried to make a pass on Valerio Spannagel but found Harris occupying the space needed to make the pass instead.

Young Juan Kermit finally finished a race, although with his early performances, his stated goals of becoming a WGPC looking increasingly unlikely. If Ilgana were to enter the WGPC, the front runners for seats are Cassady and Parsons, at least according to team owner Richard Ilgana the IIIrd.

After making his stunning start, Joshua Parks would finish 11th, just outside of the points, as junior teammate Ryan Clark, reigning Rookie of the Year, claimed tenth and a single point, by two and a half seconds. It will be interesting to see how team leaders will respond, as Parks was clearly angry that Clark did not pull aside and allow Parks to finish in the points. He'll still be in fourth position though in the Driver's Championship, with 19 points, 9 behind current leader, and race winner, Raymond Cassady, who has 28.

In the chase for the Team Championship, Ford clearly had the best day, taking home 12 points, as both John Rackley and Eric Donaldson finished in the top 10. Rackley would even go on to finish third, giving Ford their first podium of the season.

Despite a good performance from Royal Automobile Club in qualifying, the race lasted just four laps for them. Sean Macomber, starting in 31st, got off to a good start, and looking to continue to more up the field, he attempted a pass which he probably shouldn't have. Macomber, and RAC teammates Corna and Richardson, ended up colliding, ending their day behind the wheel. As the pit lanes opened, and the teams cycled through for their pitstops, things became a little chaotic. General Motors' Clarence Mota and Hyundai's Vincent Carlton got together in Turn 9. Just three laps later, Phelim Badcock, Radcliff Abate and Eliphalet McDermot all decided to leave pit lane at the same time. That didn't turn out well, and it also kept Oliver Parsons from leaving pit lane, trapped by the mess in front of him.

After the exit of pit lane was cleared, Jesse Bickford and Septune Tyree rubbed wheels while traversing Turn 11, sending them spinning in opposite directions. They would eventually find their way into the wall. Bickford's Porsche teammate, Nathan Dahlgren, also wanted to get in on the accident action, clipping Timothy Harris on the main straight, before they eventually ended up running into each other nose to nose at a fairly high rate of speed.

Four crashes over 52 laps was not enough to eliminate most of the contenders, and pole sitter Jonathan Nesmith still led the race, being closely followed by rivals Steven Brand and Raymond Cassady. None of the three were close enough to each other however, to affect the other driver, and Nesmith won easily, moving him to second in the standings. Behind Cassady however, it was a different story, as fourth through seventh place were separated by just 13 seconds.

Nesmith is now just seven points behind Raymond Cassady, who after four races, has four podiums to his name and 38 points from a maximum of 52. Steven Brand earned his first podium finish, taking nine points away from the race. He's separated from Nesmith by the first tiebreaker, wins, 0-1 in Nesmith's favor. Oliver Parsons continues to be the only rookie to have scored any points this season, though that will change before the end of the season.

So the first day of time trials ahead of Den Oval Ranen has concluded, with Joshua Parks a full half second faster than Jonathan Nesmith to lead the time boards. The new, three day qualifying format that will be used for this race, as well as the Tilden 1000 later in the season, was warmly welcomed, both by the teams and fans. The television executives were smiling too, with an extra two days of racing programming to add to their schedules.

The first ever session for the newly established DARF Stock Car Series has concluded at the Kansas Oval. Ilgana looks like it will dominate this first race, and possibly the entire inaugural season, placing four cars in the Top Five. Mechislav Ruiz, driving for General Motors, was the only one able to break the trend of fastest times by Ilgana drivers. General Motors looks like the closest contenders to Ilgana. Interesting to note, but so fare, nine drivers set faster times in the stock cars than some did in the faster cars used in the Grand Prix series. There are two days remaining however for the GP drivers to set faster times, that number will likely be much lower at the end of the week.

All 36 drivers set faster times on the second day of qualifying, and all are now faster than the stock cars that ran last night. Steven Brand made a huge improvement, jumping from a potential 31st grid spot to 9th, and will look to further improve and possibly steal pole from Joshua Parks, although that will be mighty tough to do.

Pole sitter Bipin Gabrielli would withdraw from the race after 79 laps, a failing gearbox to blame. His withdrawl came just 19 laps after the only crash of the day, involving Chryses Holzmann and Alessandro Lachance, who tried to go three wide into corner 3 and probably should have thought better given that Syd Boerio had spilled some oil there just a few laps before. In the end, Ilgana finished 1, 2, 3, with Rafael Kasabian finishing ahead of everyone else.

Parks will start in first position for the second time this season, and will be looking to regain a position in the Top 3 of the Driver's Championship. His teammate, Cassady, currently leads the standings, but will have some work to do after only qualifying 6th. Steven Brand, his biggest rival, will start ahead of him in 2nd, sharing the front row with Cassady's teammate.

A four car pileup on Lap 32 took out Matthew Fuentes, as he tried making his way through lapped traffic. John Kennseth, Juan Kermit and Nathan Dahlgren were the other drivers involved. Antonio Rahman and Phelim Badcock rubbed together on Lap 44, both ending up along the inside wall. Eddy Richardson and Jesse Bickford came together in Turn 4 on Lap 76, and just eight laps later Radcliff Abate and Eric Donaldson crashed into each other. The second half of the race was completely incident free, although some exciting pit stops shook up the remaining field.

In the end, only three drivers finished on the lead lap, two of them being Ilgana drivers. Toyota's Jonathan Nesmith finished ahead of everyone else however, taking 15 points from the first oval race of the season. The two Ilgana drivers combined for 22 points to add to their team total, and Ilgana now has a commanding lead in the Team Championship. It will take a lot of bad luck for Ilgana to lose the team title now.

Turning our focus to the Driver's Championship, Cassady has only a four point lead over Jonathan Nesmith, while Parks has moved back into the Top 3, 11 points behind his teammate. Steven Brand has fallen to fifth, still stuck on 33 points.

The first and only race this season that will see a limit on the number of cars that qualify, and it spells disaster for Ilgana. Tour leader Raymond Cassady fails to qualify, setting the slowest time during the hour long qualifying session. This will mark the first time Cassady will not finish on the podium. He's joined by Eliphalet McDermot and Eric Donaldson in not qualifying for the race.

Cassady's Ilgana teammate, Joshua Parks, qualified 12th, and will have to work for his points. Honda's Matthew Fuentes wins the pole, while Den Oval Ranen winner Jonathan Nesmith will start second, and will need to finish only eighth or higher to move past Cassady and into the Driver's Championship lead.

A single three car crash took place during the race. On Lap 53, John Kennseth locked up his brakes exiting Turn 2, colliding with Seymour Poletti. Poletti's teammate, Phelim Badcock, then ran into the two cars, unable to stop himself after he too locked up his brakes.

Apparently, any problems they had in qualifying were rectified, as Ilgana sent their only driver from 12th to 1st. Parks dominated so much, that he won by over 20 seconds. Meanwhile, 2nd through 5th were separated by just 3.3 seconds.

Finishing fifth, Jonathan Nesmith moves into first place, four points ahead of Raymond Cassady, and five points ahead of Joshua Parks. In the team standings, Ilgana were not hurt as much as many thought they would be, and they still have a 45 point lead on Toyota. There's still 17 races left, but that lead is starting to look more and more insurmountable as we progress through the season.

An extremely bumpy course that features several chicanes not counted in the total number of turns (officially eight, although unofficially twenty with the chicanes included) means some slow racing. It takes almost two minutes to traverse the 4.828km circuit without endangering the car.

Suzuki's Nathan Macklin was the fastest on the day, followed by the two Ilgana Racing drivers, and then the two General Motors drivers. Depending on how the race turns out, Ilgana and General Motors could have a very good day in terms of the Team Championship.

One driver who did not have a good day was Jonathan Nesmith, who after taking the Driver's Championship lead in Chuckio, will more than likely give it up here in Rogerton.

While he did lose the lead in the Driver's Championship to Joshua Parks, Nesmith is only a single point behind in second. Parks took the lead in the Driver's Championship with his victory, earning 11 points on the weekend.

Ilgana once again dominate the race. Bipin Gabrielli once again could not lead the race at the most important time, as Rafael Kasabian took the victory from the pole sitter. Ford, despite having a good day yesterday in qualifying, We're all out of the race by lap 170, when there last remaining runner, Dane Dickinson, collided with Steffen Mizushima in Turn 3, ending both of their races.

Darmeni Football League Season 2015: Week One

Before we take a look at the scores, we need to go over a few things first.

Four new teams begin their journey in Darmeni professional gridiron football. The Bloomer Bulldogs, Nauti Nighthawks, Pisuvar Eagles and Portes Ava Sailors all play their fist games this week, giving the DFL twenty teams. Those twenty teams will be split into two conferences of ten teams, with each team playing a double round robin schedule within its Conference. That amounts to an eighteen game regular season schedule. At the end of the season, the top four teams from each conference will advance to the Playoffs, with the two Conference Champions facing off in Darmen Bowl V.

Now that we've covered the four new teams and format for the season, lets take a look at the huge rule changes that will likely dominate much of the commentary this season.
  • Passing is no longer allowed on first down, with an exception being made for the losing team within the last two minutes of the first half and the entire fourth quarter.
  • Following an incomplete pass, the clock will only stop within the last two minutes of each half.
  • Spiking the ball to stop the clock will no longer be allowed, and will result in an intentional grounding penalty.
  • Kneel downs will also no longer be allowed, and will result in a delay of game penalty.
  • Defending teams can have no more than seven players within "the box", with exceptions being made for defending within the red zones.
  • Extra Point attempts will be made from the 20 yard line, although two point conversions will still take place from the 2 yard line.
  • A "Forty-twenty" rule, similar to the one used in Rugby League has been implemented. A punt occurring behind the 40 yard line (measured from the line of scrimmage, not the spot of the kick) goes out of bounds beyond the 20 yard line opposite, the punting team will retain possession at the spot where the ball went out of bounds. Unlike the Rugby League rule, the ball will not have to bounce in bounds first, before going out.
  • Punting on any down other than fourth down will result in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, and the "Forty-twenty" rule explained above may not be awarded.
  • Field goals may be scored on kick offs, with three points awarded to the kicking team and the receiving team then taking possession on the twenty.
  • Players will be ejected from the game upon accumulating their sixth foul.

With that out of the way, we can now take a look at the scores from Week One.
