Oh dear. I have noticed that in the rankings my trigram is VAL, but in this tournament (and other NS Sports events) is HAL. Can this be resolved?

Yes. We can get Ceni to change it up quick smart in the rankings. Don't worry, I noticed this discrepancy myself whilst doing the data entry. Your players are unaffected. I also withdraw my bid after TGing Brit.

So, just for a bit of clarification, the number next to names indicate seed? Are my players so bad they are unseeded?

No. It either doesn't have a trigram next to it, it hasn't been updated or you were looking at the wrong sheet. It'll be updated soon.

Ceni, on the OP can you change it to the new links and schedule, when you're not busy?

That has been fixed.
Britonisea wrote:Ceni, on the OP can you change it to the new links and schedule, when you're not busy?

It'll be done within the hour.
Val Halla wrote:So, just for a bit of clarification, the number next to names indicate seed? Are my players so bad they are unseeded?

Yes, generally the number next to the names indicates seed, but not necessarily ranking (like some people erroneously believe). Seeded players should usually make up about 1/4 of the draw, so the other 3/4 - from the 17th ranked players (if there are 16 seeds) to the qualifiers and wildcards are unseeded. Not being seeded doesn't mean that your players are bad, it's just the way the people who are in the tournament fall on ranks. A player who is seeded for one smaller tournament might need to qualify for a bigger tournament, or a player who is seeded in a Grand Slam isn't seeded in other events.

Yes. Host bidding has closed.

Voting will now open, and it will last for one week until 5:00 US Central Time on December 19.

The options are:
Britonisea
Re-open nominations
Abstain

Votes can be sent to Racao.

Any nation who has previously participated in a tennis tournament during 2014 may participate in this vote.

EDIT: A question for Brit, would you include a bye for Christmas if the schedule ends up having to include it?

I was planning to either do it before or after Christmas and Boxing Day, but I think I can do the group stages before Christmas, and after Boxing Day, I will do the Semi and the Grand Finals. This tournament would then finish on the 28th. So, your answer to your question is yes and Boxing Day.

Do all of my players get carried over to the next tournament when that happens? Also, do the rankings update after every tournament or every day of tennis?

Only if they have enough points to qualify -- but usually not, you'll have to re-sign. The next regular tournament will probably be held next month, as the World Finals are due to be held by Britonisea only showcases the top eight players/pairs in the tournament. Rankings update after every tournament.

In Astyria and/or Costa de Ouro.

Also, I'll be holding signups for the first five or so events that I'll be hosting in the first couple of months as a test for a "Grand Prix" type system; it would (hopefully) make it easier for everything to run. More details will be given as we get closer to that date.

This is not your fault at all. There are the three R's in sport RPing: Roleplaying, Randomness and Ranking. I'm sure if you keep working hard, like The Andromeda Islands (who debuted last tournament), then you will steadily rise up the rankings. Then it's like a positive feedback loop, the better ranking, the better you'll do, and so forth like that. Do not be easily discouraged, as it took 2-3 tournaments to even get a good doubles team at the top (but I'm still working on the singles though!)

Votes have been counted and the results are as follows:

5 votes for Re-open bidding
2 votes for the bid of Britonisea
1 abstentions

With that result, a period for bids is re-opened. The deadline will bids will be 7:00 Central Time on Christmas Eve, December 24; voting will open at that time, and voting will close at 7:00 Central Time on December 28 so that we can fit in 5 Match Days before the start of our first scheduled tournament on January 4; one extra day has been built into the schedule so that we can use said day if needed.

Hello, I'd like to sign up for ATP!
'Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.' (II Timothy 4:1-5 NKJV)
