The Republic of Malecia is proud to announce a new Universal Health Care initiative. Health care is without a doubt one of the most important domestic issues of the 21st Century. Malecia, as a new nation, does not wish to reach a crisis point in the future. That is why the Malecian government is taking the initiative in this crucial area. The newly established Malecian Department of Health is seeking advisory papers and opinions from other nations in the 10000 Islands region on different approaches to this issue. Once a bill has been crafted, it will be put before the entire Malecian population for a vote. The government envisions a single payer system for all health care related services. Under the current system, health care is free to all members of the Malecian armed forces, and is available to honorably discharged veterans for the first 6 months following their separation date from the military. While the current private system is meeting our needs, the government anticipates that future strains on the system could have an adverse effect on our economic well being. Our goal is to have a final bill before our General Assembly before Autumn.

The Republic of Quadrimmina is not part of your region but would like to share the details of our universal healthcare system, known as UniCare, with your nation. Essentially, it is a single-payer system where all emergency care, preventive care, necessary prescription drugs, and long term treatment is funded by taxpayers, and all other care is funded by supplemental insurance, with a public supplemental option under UniCare called UniCare Extended, and multiple private supplemental insurance options. Currently, 1% of our nation opts out of the UniCare tax, and covers their healthcare either out-of-pocket, or via one of the two private insurance plans operated by two of our conglomerates. This of course means that 99% of our nation is satisfied with UniCare. Our healthcare system includes many cost-cutting measures, such as computerized medical records, an individual insurance mandate, limiting tort cases against doctors, and direct price competition against private hospitals with nationalized hospitals, among others.
