Type 87 pistol

The Type 87 is a semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Ningjing Munitions Factory. Tested in early 1986, the pistol entered service in late 1987. It is currently the main standard-issue pistol for Zhouranese People's Army personnel. The pistol features a staggered-column magazine, all-steel construction, a hammer forged barrel, and an ambidextrous safety switch and slide stop, making the pistol suitable for both right- and left-handed shooters. The pistol is based on the CZ 75, with slight changes made to internal parts to increase reliability.
It is a short recoil operated, locked breech pistol. The Type 87 uses a linkless cam locking system, where the barrel and slide are locked together on firing, using locking lugs milled into the barrel mating with recesses in the roof of the slide. An enclosed cam track integral with the barrel is actuated by the slide release lever's transverse pin. After the first few millimetres of the recoil stroke, the barrel is cammed downwards at the rear, enabling the slide to continue the recoil stroke and eject the spent cartridge.
The pistol uses a manual safety. This allows the Type 87 to be carried with the hammer cocked with safety applied and a round chambered, ready for use simply by switching the safety off. The trade-off of this configuration is that to uncock the hammer for a double action first shot, the hammer must be dropped manually by pulling the trigger while lowering the hammer with the firer's thumb under control. Once lowered in this manner, a double action first shot can be achieved in a similar manner to other double action pistols without actuating any controls. Subsequent shots will be single action unless the hammer is again manually lowered.
Unlike most other semi-auto pistols, the slide rides inside the frame rails, rather than outside. This provides a tight slide-to-frame fit and a very efficient barrel lock-up, both of which contribute to its accuracy.

Type 99 pistol

The Type 99 is a semi-automatic pistol created by Ningjing Munitions Factory. First tested in early 1998 and commissioned in late 1999, it was designed as a simple, cheap and reliable weapon.
A semi-automatic, short recoil operated firearm that uses a vertically tilting delayed camming action, the handgun features a double-action trigger which cocks and then releases the hammer. The recoil of the slide recocks the hammer, and all consecutive shots are fired from a single-action mode. A disconnector ensures the pistol fires in semi-automatic mode only. The spring-loaded external claw extractor is mounted in the slide, while the fixed ejector is located inside the pistol’s frame. The Type 99 is secured against unintentional firing with an automatic firing pin safety which blocks the firing pin and is released only when the trigger is pulled to fire. Immediately after a round is fired, the safety reengages itself even if the trigger is not released. The Type 99 also has a decocking safety that safely releases and captures the hammer in a safety notch. A decocking lever is mounted on each side of the pistol’s frame.
The magazine release button, located aft of the trigger, can be configured for either right- or left-hand users simply by swapping out the push-button. The pistol is fitted with a slide catch that holds the slide open after depleting the magazine. The slide can be released by pressing the slide release lever, placed on the left side of the frame.

Type 04 machine pistol

The Type 04 is a selective-fire machine pistol created by Ningjing Munitions Factory. Commissioned in early 2004, it is a concealable weapon with rapid fire capabilities and was designed to provide improved firepower during close-quarter combat.
The open slide design ensures smooth feeding and ejection of ammunition and allows easy clearing of obstructions. The hard-chromed barrel bore reduces barrel wear and protects it from harsh environmental conditions. The falling locking block design provides good accuracy and operability due to the in-line travel of the barrel. The magazine release button is reversible with simple field tools. The weapon uses a short recoil operated, locked breech system with vertically cammed lock. The trigger mechanism is a single action only, with non-ambidextrous frame mounted safety and additional fire mode selector, both of which are mounted on the same axis, with the selector lever pointing forward and safety lever pointing backward. The mechanism which controls the length of the bursts is located behind the right grip panel.
The pistol can be selected to fire in either three round burst or semi-automatic. A selector switch enables the user to alternate between the two firing modes. The Type 04 is fitted with a vertical foregrip at the front end of the trigger guard to provide better stability when firing. A folding steel buttstock can be attached at the heel of the grip.

Type 05 pistol

The Type 05 is a double-action/single-action semi-automatic pistol created by the Ningjing Munitions Factory. Commissioned in early 2005, it was designed as an effective, accurate, powerful, and reliable pistol that can operate efficiently in harsh environmental conditions.
Featuring a combined safety/decocker, with the decocking lever also acting as a safety and remains on safe mode when actuated, and a polygonal barrel, the Type 05 is a locked breech, short recoil operated pistol that uses a large, heavy frame. The frame mounted safety is located on the left side of the frame and can lock the hammer when cocked or not. The barrel tilting and dual locking lugs are located on the barrel just ahead of the chamber area, while the slide rails are located inside the frame.

Type 02 revolver

The Type 02 is a double-action revolver created by Ningjing Munitions Factory. Commissioned in early 2002, it features a break-action chamber and an automatic ejector.
Using a break-open frame and composite bottom frame that forms the grip and trigger guard, the polymer grip/trigger guard unit can be removed if necessary. The trigger is of conventional type, double/single action, with exposed hammer. Firing pin is mounted in the frame. The barrel/cylinder group latch is located at the top rear of the frame, and is operated by two buttons that must be pushed inwards to unlock the frame. The six-round cylinder has an automatic ejector that throws the cases out once the barrel is fully tipped down. If necessary, the automatic ejection feature can be manually switched off.

The Type 08 is a semi-automatic pistol created by Ningjing Munitions Factory. First tested in late 2006 and commissioned in early 2008, it is an upgraded derivative of the Type 87 pistol.
A short recoil operated, locked breech semi-automatic pistol that uses a double-action trigger, the weapon features an ambidextrous frame-mounted manual safety that locks the sear so the trigger cannot be moved rearward, as well as an internal firing pin block safety which stops the firing pin from travelling forward. The manual safety allows the pistol to be carried with the hammer back, ready for use just by switching the safety off. The slide rides inside the frame rails, providing a tight slide-to-frame fit, efficient barrel lock-up, and consistent accuracy.

Type 90 machine pistol

The Type 90 is a selective-fire, double-action only machine pistol created by Ningjing Munitions Factory. Commissioned in late 1990, the weapon only has semi-automatic and three-round bursts.
Designed with a polymer frame, the pistol uses a combination stock/holster. The stock incorporates a selector switch that, when mounted, allows selective fire for both semi-automatic and three-round burst modes. When not mounted, the stock acts as a holster. The Type 90 uses a spring-loaded striker and is double action only, which means the trigger pull is relatively heavy. The manual safety is a circular button located immediately behind the trigger and is a common crossblock safety.

Type 03 pistol

The Type 03 is a semi-automatic pistol developed by the Ningjing Munitions Factory. Tested in late 2002, the weapon was commissioned in early 2003.
The pistol's mechanically locked breech utilizes the short recoil method of operation. This rather conventional lock-up system has a large rectangular lug over the barrel’s chamber that rides into and engages the ejection port cut-out in the slide. When a cartridge is fired, pressures generated by the ignited powder drive the cartridge casing back against the breech face on the slide, driving back both the barrel and slide as they remain locked together in the manner described above. After 3 mm of unrestricted rearward travel, the projectile has left the barrel and gas pressures have dropped to a safe level. A shaped lug on the underside of the barrel chamber comes into contact with a hooked locking block at the end of the steel recoil spring guide rod, lowering the rear end of the barrel and stopping the barrel's rearward movement. The recoil spring assembly is held in place by the slide stop lever’s axis pin and a round cut-out at the front of the slide. For enhanced reliability in harsh environments, the locking surface on the front top of the barrel’s locking lug is tapered with a forward slope. This tapered surface produces a camming action which assists in positive lock-up in the presence of heavy fouling and debris.
A mechanical recoil reduction system is incorporated into the recoil spring assembly, located below the barrel and consists of a heavy, captive coil spring around the guide rod. Designed primarily to buffer the slide and barrel, the system also reduces the recoil of the weapon.
For maintenance and cleaning, the Type 03 is broken down into seven major components: the barrel, slide, recoil spring, recoil spring guide rod, the frame, slide stop and magazine. To disassemble, the slide must be retracted back to align the slide stop axis pin with the disassembly notch on the left side of the slide and withdrawing the axis pin.
By using a modular approach to the internal components, the control functions of the Type 03 can be switched from the left to the right side of the pistol for ambidextrous use. The weapon can also be converted from one type of trigger/firing mode to another. This allows for a combination of double-action and single-action (DA/SA) modes and double-action only (DAO) modes.
The pistol uses an ambidextrous magazine release lever that is shielded by the trigger guard from inadvertent actuation. The rear of the grip is stepped, and combines well with the tapered magazine, making magazine changes faster due to lack of user-assisted guiding. Finger recesses in the grip frame also aid in magazine removal. The magazines will drop free of the pistol frame when the magazine release is depressed. Also, the Type 03 does not have a magazine lockout feature. As a result, a chambered round can be fired even with the magazine removed. An extended slide release lever is positioned to allow easy operation without changing the grip of the shooting hand.

The Type 98 is a double-action revolver created by Ningjing Munitions Factory. Commissioned in late 1998, it was designed to provide accuracy and firepower, smooth trigger pull, and a tight cylinder lock-up.
A traditional double/single-action gun with exposed hammers and frame-mounted firing pins, the six-round cylinder swings out to the left for ejection and reloading. The cylinder latch is located at the rear of the frame. When the weapon is at full cock, just as the trigger is pressed, the cylinder locks up for the duration of the hammer strike. The gap between the cylinder and forcing cone is very tight.
