The Trade Network Association

The Dominion is pleased to announce the formation of the Trade Network Association - an organization intended to lay the groundwork for and encourage an outreaching of trade efforts between nations. We are aware that there are many trade pacts and alliances available, and we recognize their validity without question. What we are hoping to offer is yet another alternative that will ideally work in conjunction with these others, not against them.

First off, this is a trade network - not an alliance, not a binding pact. It is hoped that nations and perhaps, alliances who usually do not have access to or contact with one another could utilize the system to initiate them via [trade. No nation involved will be forced to recognize or trade with those they do not wish to, and there are no punitive actions in place for trouble between signatories - however the organization will offer mediation services if agreed on and requested by any signatories requiring such.

Think of it as more like a job board, with those nations posting services and offers, and others looking to benefit from them. Over the years we have been fortunate to establish ties with many nations of various sorts, incredibly enough, often of diametrically opposed natures and purposes. Diversity and adaptability are traits we feel important in today's world of trade, and hope that our many contacts will take this offer as a chance to broaden their horizons and benefit financially as well.

We require no permanent representation within our nation by any participating signatories, though we will establish a main office through which Association business will pass and local agreements be conducted. Additionally, we do not require that any of our current allies or contacts participate in this new venture, nor will this be tied in with any standing alliances, nor said agreements be forfeit on account of it. As things stand, we will continue to honor all existing trade agreements. We view this as an opportunity to expand, not to reorder or force change on agreements and obligations that have already been proven to be mutually satisfying.

Some services we hope to offer, and some points for clarification of purpose are as follows:

--First and foremost, we intend to develop a network where trade and business opportunities can be advertised, and where those in need of services can go for an easy reference, and to provide a new method of contact between nations and organizations who either lack the means or the proper avenues to initiate such contact for themselves. In addition, we offer our services as 'middleman' for those groups who desire the benefits of a particular trade, but for whatever reasons are unable to mediate between the two parties.

--Easy Monetary Exchange. Given our resources, we wish to offer exchange services between nations who lack the recognition or avenues to initiate such, should they be desired or required. In addition, should the majority of the Association desire it, we propose a common denomination to be used throughout, for even more ease in transactions.

--Mediation Services. For those Association signatories who run into difficulties with other signatories in trade issues or disputes, we propose to create a pool of willing mediators who would assist in the aggrieved parties coming to a solution. This would be for mediation purposes only, not to enforce any Association 'rule'.

--Shipping and Transport Services. Our own Eidolon Technologies, Inc. has the capability of providing transport for trade goods, whether it be terrestrial or interstellar in nature. Not only this, but Eidolon is open to franchise opportunities within nations, should there be an interest. More details available on request.

--Opportunities for expanded business, trade, and warehousing on the new Machiavelli Station, where a satellite office of the Association will be present.

--No signatory is forced to trade with anyone they don't wish to. This is all entirely voluntary, and intended as a service, not a requirement.

--Everything is negotiable. We wish for this network to be as free and open as possible to accommodate as many different needs as we can. Given that business and trade run rather differently than any one government overall, we propose a democratic process of clear majority rule for any future changes or additions to the Association's methods.

--Signatories are not required to be a member of, nor discontinue membership in any current alliances, pacts, or agreements prior to joining the Association.

--Signatories are free to withdraw at any time, should they feel the Association no longer serves their purposes, without fear of reprisals. We ask only that a grace period of three months be observed if said signatory also plans on discontinuing trade or business contracts along with their withdrawal.

--Signatories that leave for whatever reason are free to continue any business or trade arrangements made during their involvement with the Association. Who you do business with is no concern of ours - the Dominion's view on sovereign rights crosses over here, in full. The only loss will be the aforementioned services available through the Association.

As Minister of Trade, Bernardo di Medici, will be heading up the local offices, and all questions pertaining to it can be directed to him and his staff using the contact information listed at the end of this missive. We hope that nations will find this Association useful, and look forward to doing business with you.

Hokay. So here's the deal. Just looking to set up something different here. No, not going to put up a new forum, not going to require folks to rp out every little detail, not going to force any sort of play on folks here. This is just an idea that's been kicking around for a bit that seemed to fit in with what I'm doing. Post here if you'd like to sign up, reach out, advertise services/product/etc, take it where you'd like. It's all up to people to do what they want with it. Use it as a plot device for things, a chance to make contact with people you wouldn't normally, come up with some rp ideas, what have you - open for whatever. Hope this provides some fun and interest for folks.

For reference, the original thread can be found here and backed up here. In the interest of keeping it clean, I'm not going to port over all the content from there, you can reference it as you like, or not.

Our nation would like to trade. Our most profitable export is automobiles and we also export wheat, vegetables, meat, wool, gold, iron and timber.
The following manufacturers export from Astholm:
  • Celsan Motors
  • Balna Motors (sub-brand of Celsan)
  • Ford Motor Company Astholm
  • GMM Astholm (building Chevrolet and Opel vehicles)

We can list all vehicles we offer, on request, if needed.

Diplomatic Beam TO: Minister Bernardo di Medici of The Dominion
From: Minister Feodor von Krugstadt of The Skeelzanian Sternreich, Imperial Ministry of Foreign Relations
Subject: Announcement of Interest in the Dominion's Trade Network Association

To the honorable parties concerned, the Skeelzanian Sternreich extends respect and greetings. Word of the Dominion's Trade Network Association has recently come to the Kaiserin's attention, just as the Sternreich begins to gear up for a renewed diplomatic campaign within Sol and the Alpha Quadrant. Skeelzania hereby announces their most keen interest in the Dominion's Association.

However, the Sternreich is most anxious not to move too quickly. It is unfortunate that historical relations between Skeelzania and the cradle of human civilization are as chequred as they are; the Sternreich recognize that it would be presumptous of Skeelzania to demand full entrance into the Association before proper diplomatic channels are established. Additionally, the Sternreich wishes to fully appraise the feasibility of regular trade, both in what individual members of the Association are willing to offer, and what the Sternreich may offer in return.

At this time, Skeelzania wishes to enter into a provisional relationship with the Association, as a first step towards a functioning relationship between Skeelzania and all other nations who are friends of peace. In time, as our relevant goods are assessed, and diplomatic snags are smoothed out, Skeelzania would humbly take its place within the framework of the Association.

As a provisional demonstartion of the resources Skeelzania has to offer, We, Feodor von Krugstadt of the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Relations, wishes to present to Minister di Medici a gift of twentyfive (25) pounds of refined platinum, fifteen pounds of gold bullion stamped with the Imperial Seal, as well B$250 in gold Baskz. We suspect that raw resources would be one of the most attractive trade goods Skeelzania has to offer. After all, the Sternreich has a quarter of a galaxy to mine.

~Signed

Feodor von Krugstadt of the Imperial Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
Acting with the full authority of HER IMPERIAL MAJESTY, the Kaiserin DIANA SKEELZOT, First of Her Name.

What resources would you be willing to accept. Cheztope's main exports are weapons, missles, Uranium, and trout. Cheztope is in need of oil and hydrogen. if you have oil or hydrogen as a natural resource Cheztope would be more than happy to open up trade by land, sea, or air.

In response to the query by the Democratic Republic of Cheztope;

Thanks to the unceasing efforts of the Skeelzanian Combine Advanced Resources Refining corporation, the Sternreich has access to most elements one would find in a normal universe. Unfortunately, by the time the Ancestral Conquerors arrived in the Gamma Quadrant, we had by and large moved past the need for fossil fuels. While the capital world of Solomon does have oil deposits, it is unknown how much they differentiate between what one would have encountered on Old Terra. The local deposits may very well be incompatible with your refineries and machinery.

Fortunately, the Sternreich's desire for hydrogen is as great as ever. A SCARR bulk gas carrier, with some twenty million (20,000,000) metric tons of high-pressure hydrogen gas aboard, represents only a small fraction of total Skeelzanian production. Unloading the behemoth might prove difficult, as it appears the Democratic Republic is not yet fully capable of exploiting the stars,

In regards to what the Skeelzanian desires in return, our own Arms and Mining Industries are quite robust, with the market for foreign weapons or raw materials relatively small by comparison. However, the importation of high-quality, authentic Terran Trout is appealing to several highly placed members of the Ministry. Oceanic food is something of a rarity within Skeelzania, and especially on the capital world of Solomon.

To the Nation of Astholm:

We would be more than happy to include you and your companies in the Association. If you can provide us with contact details for what offices we would be working with, we will send the appropriate informational packets to them.

Included will be instructions on how to access your account within the Association, how to list your assets, your monetary values, any corporations you want listed, desired trades, and how to contact other trade partners within the Association. Passwords are included for your initial access, and you can adjust your settings as needed from there.

We hope that this will prove a profitable venture for all involved – welcome to the Trade Network Association.

--Bernardo di Medici, Dominion Minister of Trade

To the Nation of Cheztope:

You need to simply apply for membership, be accepted, and then work out any trade details with or through the other nations holding membership. Many nations are willing to trade both in basic resources and finished products, either nationally, or through their corporations.

-- Bernardo di Medici, Dominion Minister of Trade

To: Minister Feodor von Krugstadt of The Skeelzanian Sternreich, Imperial Ministry of Foreign Relations
From: Bernardo di Medici, Dominion Minister of Trade

While any diplomatic forays on your part would be entirely up to you and your abilities, in light of the nature of the Association, we find ourselves able to assist in at least this matter.

Please be reminded that in keeping with the intents of the Network, that how we serve is a conduit and pool for trades, and whatever activities you engage in, or arrangements made, are up to you and what partners prove themselves willing to interact.

You will find enclosed in the accompanying packet all the information you will need to access the Network’s resources, and list your trade information, monetary system, and other pertinent details on it. Clear instructions are given, and I’m certain you will find it all quite easy to negotiate.

Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our offices via any of the listings included. We welcome you to the Trade Network Association, and hope that it will prove a profitable relationship for us both.

--Bernardo di Medici, Dominion Minister of Trade

PS - My thanks for the thoughtful gift - be assured it was much appreciated, and will be put to good use.

I would gladly open up trade with The Sternreich of Skeelzania. We will offer you our trout for your large oil deposits. It is to my understanding that you are a modern country surpassing the need for oil, so that would only benefit you in a trade because you are exporting obsolete goods for goods that will always be part of a culture and/or the people.

ooc: Astholm - this is designed as a vehicle for rp, with basically entrance requests, questions bout the Network, and basic back and forth between members for clarification's sake. As a member, it is assumed that unless otherwise stated, members have access to each other's markets in general with any particulars being decided between players. You aren't required to have hard numbers or the like, just aren't encouraged to take liberties so to speak. Further interactions and detailed trade agreements can be rp'd elsewhere.

In any case, I can't see anyone allowing 60+ auto manufacturers into their market. That's a bit ... much to ask.

On behalf of the Republic of Amn Voss I would like to request admission into this Trade Association. Due to our vast industrial capabilities and unrestricted/regulated businesses we have little need for import, but our corporations would be more than willing to produce and export goods to nations that are in need of them. We produce a bit of everything though we specialize in arms and automobiles while extracting raw materials en masse such as uranium, oil, coal, and iron.
