About Bartlett's

In 1915, along the boardwalks of Costa Aluria, a stroke of sweet brilliance occurred to our founder, Abraham Bartlett. He had heard the reviews of a type of candy that had become popular in coastal communities half a world away. This "salt water taffy" was said to be the perfect match for beachgoers everywhere, with its light, chewy texture serving as a delicious medium to introduce popular as well as innovative flavor combinations. Reports were that children and adults alike were running with excitement to the candy store to purchase this delight. It was with this in mind that Bartlett founded Bartlett's Salt Water Taffy.

Image

It is said that the name for salt water taffy came when a confectionery owner's shop became flooded during a major seastorm in 1883. As a result of the flood, the entirety of the taffy supply was soaked with the salty water from the Atlantic Ocean. When a young patron came into his shop to purchase some taffy, he is said to have offered "salt water taffy." Though this remark is generally thought to be in jest, the young girl was delighted and bought a batch, proceeding down the boardwalk to show her friends. The name caught on. While some early refrences to salt water taffy were "Sea Foam Taffy," "Ocean Wave Taffy," and other coastal variants, the name salt water taffy had become the industry standard within just a few years.

While it took 32 years for salt water taffy to be introduced to the islands of Costa Aluria, the idea took off with great success. Tourists to the islands' tropical environment were familiar with the product from their trips to the seashore in their home countries, and locals soon learned to appreciate the candy's fine, fun properties. It may have taken some time to migrate from the shores of Atlantic City, but once salt water taffy made its appearance in Costa Aluria, it was a certainty that it was here to stay.

As time continued, Abraham Bartlett passed his business to his sons, and in time, their sons, and so on. Over time, the family realized greater market potential to appease sweet tooths in Costa Aluria, and slowly expanded the business to meet this demand. While the heart of the business has always been in salt water taffy, Bartlett's now offers a full lineup of sugary treats, and has expanded its original name to include the true nature of operating a full confectionery.

Image Image

Now, in our 99th year, Bartlett's seeks to bring the same enjoyment that has excited patrons since the inception of our candies to nations all around the world. We would love to expand our market and bring our confections to your nation. Bartlett's enjoys a wonderful spot in markets designed for urban settings or small towns. The home-town nature of our confectionery makes it an ideal fit for resort towns in coastal areas as well as towns situated away from the water, while the recognizeable name brand blends well with residents and guests of larger cities looking for a familiar, handcrafted treat. Whether your nation boasts large metropolises or small, quaint towns, whether your nation has expansive seashores or is completely landlocked, there is a Bartlett's treat for each of your citizens or guests.

Bartlett's Salt Water Taffy

In our boardwalk storefront in Chatoyant Cove, our salt water taffy is stretched and folded several times using the same chain-fed machinery we used in 1915. What a fun sight to see our equipment in operation. Take a trip to our boardwalk storefront and you are likely to see our machine turning away in our front window, delightfully creating the light and chewy delisiousness of our taffy. Our taffy pulling machine has become a local landmark, and patrons know when they see it pulling that a new batch of sweets is on the way. With 201 flavors, we offer one of the largest selections of salt water taffy on the planet.

Our Leadership

Since its inception in 1915, Bartlett's has been 100% owned by the Bartlett family. Abraham Bartlett passed the company to Obadiah Bartlett, Obadiah to Judah Bartlett, Judah to Jonas Bartlett, and Jonas. Now in its fifth generation, Jonas' twin sons Amos and Saul operate our Boardwalk storefront in Chatoyant Cove, Costa Aluria, as well as form the leadership for all future expansion.

Subject : A Booming Demand for Sugary Treats

Dear Sir,

Air Korena would like to inform you that our airline has found your company to be of great quality, and to be a potentially valuable business partner. We are interested in forming a business contract with Bartlett's, to supply our airline's passengers flying across the world with your sugary delights.

Attention: Orders

Notes/Comments: Salt water taffy stores are exactly what our coastal nation needs. While Coastal Communities has a shoreline of some 3,000 miles stretching north to south, the nation's land area is capped at extending only 25 miles inland from the coast, hence our nation's name. Stores would be located at intervals of roughly 50 miles depending on where the nearest community is located.

Nation of Origin: The Hackleberry Islands

Number and locations of Confectioneries to open: 34 stores, one large central confectionery to open in Neptune City, the capital.

Regional variants to sell within local confectioneries: Potentially more ocean themed flavors near the coast, wider variety at central store.

Notes/Comments: Bartlett's Salt Water Taffy & Confectionery has attracted the attention of the Hackleberry Islands' citizens, and a new confectionery chain sounds like a splendid idea. We plan to have 34 normal sized stores all over the archipelago, with a main central store in the capital, Neptune City, which could sell the total list of flavors and more. Only a few regional variants would exist, depending on location and culture.

Attention: Jonathan Kevin Lee, Air Korena
Bartlett's is certainly interested in partnering with Air Korena to provide its guests with delightful confections. However, we have a few questions and potential concerns to continue pondering. Firstly, we are uncertain from Air Korena storefront page the total number of guests that fly with your airline in a given day. And secondly, we would not know an appropriate amount to supply this unknown number of guests. Calculation would depend on these numbers.

However, noting the nature of the airline industry as catering to large crowds of individuals, we are uncertain that our main confectionery could supply so many sweets while maintaining our own customer base in Costa Aluria. It may be advisable for Air Korena to make available space in hub airports for Bartlett's confectioneries dedicated solely to your passengers. This way, the demand would be much lower than with a confectionery serving the general public, and therefore supply would be much easier to produce on a local level. We believe this option to be the more feasible of the two, and ultimately the far more economical route as Air Korena would not need to transport confections long distances on a regular basis.

We hope this helps in your decision making process, and we look forward to partnering with Air Korena in the near future.

With sweet regard,
Amos Bartlett

We would be more than happy to open five Bartlett's Confectioneries within Enduvas. What an excellent choice to host some of the confectioneries on an island and some along the coast. And the option to tie it together with a confectionery in the capital city is a wonderful idea, providing delightful treats to a wide variety of citizens and guests. We thank you for taking a trip to the boardwalk with Bartlett's Confectioneries!

Attention: Jonathon Kevin Lee, Air Korena
It is with pleasure that we will open a Bartlett's Confectionery within the Air Korena Lounge of Korena City Airport. We believe you have made an excellent choice for your passengers, as well as a sound financial choice in deciding to open the Confectionery on site rather than in competing for confections with customers of an off-site location. We have noted your expected traffic patterns, and will be sure to keep this confectionery well supplied so that passengers may receive sweets while awaiting their flights, as well as to supply your planes with treats during flights. We hope this turns into a very sweet partnership, and we thank you for taking a trip to the seashore with Bartlett's Confectioneries!

Attention: Jabber314

We apologize for the confusion. There is never any fee associated with opening a Bartlett's Confectionery. We believe in honest work, and setting up new confectioneries is part of our business plan for bringing our delightful treats to the world. It is our belief that our treats will do the work needed to recouperate the costs of opening new confectioneries. However, we don't claim to be experts on every local market on a global scale, and that is why we seek input from independent nations to be invited to open up our new confectioneries.

Thank you for clearing up this miscommunication.

With sweet regard,
Amos Bartlett

It is with pleasure that we will open up two Bartlett's Confectioneries within Seno Zhou Varada. What a wonderful treat for the residents and guests of Kekiki and Votoka. We believe there is a delightful sweet for each of your people, and business will be booming. We thank you for taking a trip to the seashore with Bartlett's Confectioneries!

With sweet regard,

Bartlett's would love to introduce you to our delightful confections. We have been in operation since 1915 serving treats to our Boardwalk visitors. Take a trip to the seashore today with Bartlett's Salt Water Taffy and Confectionery!
