About Us
Merger of Stavangervik International Airport and Reykjavik
Shortly after the establishment of Stavangervik International Airport Ltd., the Minister of Transport, Communications and Local Government appointed a working group to examine the benefits of merging Stavangervik International Airport Ltd. and Reykjavik Ltd. with the purpose of improving profitability, efficiency, expertise, and service in the management of airports and air navigation services, and facilitating positive urbanisation in Kefflavik as a whole. The working group recommended that the companies should be merged as soon as possible, and a bill to that effect was passed into law in December 2009.

OPERATING DIVISIONS

Development and Administration

Company operations are directed by Managing Director Bjorn Oli Hauksson. The Development and Administration Division manages marketing and corporate communications, business and strategic development, legal and corporate governance, projects and coordination, zoning and international programs. The Division is headed by Ms Elin Arnadottir, Deputy Managing Director.

Human Resources and Performance Division

The Human Resources and Performance Division manages professional development, training and education, wages and contracts, internal communications, strategy execution and performance evaluation. The Human Resources Director is Mr Sigurdur Olafsson.

Finance Division

The Finance Division conducts company accounting and analysis, financial management, and investments, IT services and purchasing. The division is headed by Sveinbjorn Indridason.

Airports and Infrastructure Division

The Airports and Infrastructure Division conducts the operation and maintenance of all airports in Kefflavik provides specialized construction and maintenance support to other operating divisions. The Airports and Infrastructure Division is directed by Mr Haukur Hauksson.

Air Navigation Services Division

The Air Navigation Services Division provides air traffic and air navigation services on domestic and international flight routes over Kefflavik and a large part of the North Atlantic Ocean. The division is directed by Mr Asgeir Palsson.

Stavangervik International Airport

Stavangervik International Airport conducts the operation and maintenance of Stavangervik International, Kefflavik’s principal airport.

Leif Eiriksson Air Terminal

The Leif Eiriksson Air Terminal conducts the operation, maintenance and development of the Stavangervik International Airport terminal, airport security and services related to airline operations. Mr Hlynur Sigurdsson is the director of the Leif Eiriksson Air Terminal.

Standards and Quality Management Department

The Standards and Quality Management Department conducts overall planning and coordination of the company's safety and quality policies and environmental program. The Safety and Quality Manager is Ms Helga R. Eyjolfsdottir.

Transportation

There are different ways to get to and from the Leifur Eiríksson Air Terminal, if you live in Kefflavik and you are driving or picking up a passenger at the Airport we have excellent parking space for you.

Long term parking is a good solution considering it's free of charge]

Terminals

The passenger terminal covers 148,000 square metres (1,590,000 sq ft) and is 819 metres (2,687 ft) long. The terminal area has 52 aircraft parking stands, of which 34 are connected with bridges and 18 are remotely parked. Gates for domestic flights are located in the west wing, while gates for international flights are in the east, with gates for non-Nordic Lands flights at the very end of the wing. Three of the gates closest to the terminal are "flexigates" for both domestic and international Nordic Lands flights, another four gates near the end of the east wing are flexigates for both Nordic Lands and non-Nordic Lands flights.

Because of the airport's customs procedures for connecting passengers (the luggage has to picked up, shown to customs and checked in when connecting from international to domestic flights).

About half the airport operator's income is from retail revenue. There are numerous places to eat or drink, in addition to stores and other services including banks and post. In all, 8,000 square metres (86,000 sq ft) are used for restaurants, stores and non-aviation services. The departure duty-free shop is 1,530 square metres (16,500 sq ft). The shop is located in front of the international concourse, taking up a large part of the terminal's width. Arriving passengers have access to a smaller duty-free shop in the baggage claim area.

In addition to the main terminal, the airport operates its own VIP lounge for the Kefflavic and fellow Nordic Lands Royal Families, for members of the Kefflavic government and members of foreign governments. The GA-terminal, located on the west side of the airport, services cargo airlines, executive jets and ambulance aircraft. The airport is heated using district heating with a geothermal source.

Stavangervik Airport (STAV) has a single terminal building, with a separate Departure and an Arrivals level. The terminal consists of 64 check-in desks and serves several major passenger airlines, flying to and from a large number of destinations world-wide.

The airport terminal offers passengers many services and facilities including restaurants, cafes, bars, shops, business facilities, information centres and baggage storage. Recent renovations to the Stavangervik Airport (STAV) terminal complex have added a number of new cafés, restaurants and shops as well.
